unfortunately balanced landing is nearly worthless in some maps.
How many maps have zero drops? One?
There are maps that only have one drop. And depending on where you are on that map, you might not make it to that drop. I can think of all Macmillan Estate maps (except for Coal Tower and Ironworks), Coldwind Farm (excluding Thompson House), Autoheaven Wreckers, Lery's and Yamaoka Estate. Thats 14 maps out of 27 where Balanced Landing may not even be used depending on the circumstances.
Yamaoka estate has a few drops, not just 1 drop, and in the middle of the Lery's are a lot of drops. You are right about Macmillan Estate with the variation Shelter woods that has any drop*excluding the basement drop.
Shelter Woods has a drop-off from the centre tree. You can run up at some angles, but its hard to hit in a chase. Every map has a drop off so far.
not counting the basement? such as the auto graveyard?

What happened is that you ran into toxic survivors with friends. They are plenty of them and it's hard to play against them because dbd developers favor them over killers. I really think they should find a solution to either give the killers more power ornerf survivors. The game is fairly balanced right now. Survivors are not overpowered any more. They were about a year ago.
But in any game that has a party system. That team with the party will overpower the other team theres no doubt about that. You have much more information and there's no really fixing that unless you remove SWF all togethermaybe if they gave the killer a bonus, something like +1% more movement for each person in a SWF team, + increased speed on recovering from missed attacks or something.
They could do that, how ever some people who 4 man SWF could also be at rank 20's and fairly new to the game. They might not be taking the game seriously and with a feature like that, it wouldn't be fair nor fun to them.
good point. So how would you fix it?

Spine Chill/Stake Out/Premonition (good cause it counters stealthy bois especially Spine if you're tired of moonwalking mindgames)
Small Game (everyone complains about noed, well here's your counter)
Windows of Opportunity/ Plunderers Instinct (good for saving time if your teammates used up a resource)In fact here's just a list of bad perks or too situational:
Deja Vu, Detectives Hunch, No Mither, Autodidact, Boil Over, No one Left Behind, Dark Sense, Slippery Meat, Vigil, Wake Up, Sole Survivor, Open Handed, Up the Ante.I agree with you on those good perks, but not all of your bad ones. I've used a couple of those to good effect on occasion. Deja Vu helps a lot on some of those indoor maps where you are struggling to find that last damned generator, and Dark Sense is great for seeing the killer's location before you leave your generator for the next one.
I totally agree on no one left behind, or for that matter, most end game perks for survivor. Up the Ante is GREAT... the first time you get hooked. And if your team knows about it. I've NEVER failed to unhook myself with it if no one had died yet. But when the rest of the team doesn't pick up on it, yeah.... So I suppose those are very situational.
I havent used a few of those, however, so no opinion on the rest.
The problem with Deja Vu and Detectives Hunch is that gens spawns are fairly static and predictable. The problem with any generator related perk is the time needed to activate it and how many times it can be used 5 max if you're having to do all the gens. Up the Ante and luck in general is overshadowed by Deliverance. Boil over just makes the killer sway more when carrying a survivor, Vigil just doesn't do enough or it's so situational that it can't help. Autodidact requires multiple healing skillchecks at a detriment (and it's difficult to see those skillchecks) to even start working. Left Behind and Sole Survivor requires your team to die in order to work and it doesn't have a strong enough benefit.
Up the Ante helps your entire team, deliverance only helps you, plus you have to not have been hooked before you rescue someone.

Before this post, I'd like to make clear that I DON'T dodge SWF groups unless I've ran into them before and they are a bully squad. I don't have an issue with 2 man SWF groups because they only get a slight advantage but this post is aimed more towards 3 or 4 man SWF teams. The issues I have with SWF groups
Now before I continue, I'd like to say that not all SWF groups are toxic and I've played against some good people that just want to play with their friends for fun instead of bullying the killer. Below I'm going to make a few points with issues that killers run into when not dodging SWF groups.
SWF Makes some perks useless on killers
Yes you heard this correctly, communication can make perks on killers completely useless. An example of this is Knock Out, which can be good if it actually works but most of the time, survivors will say over a 3rd Party Program their location and then they can just be picked up, making the killer waste a perk slot and making the perk completely useless.
Another example are HEX totems and I say this because if one survivor in the group finds the totem then they can just give the location to their friends and it will be destroyed. I can't say how many times one survivor ran past my totem during a chase and then 20 seconds into the chase, my totem got destroyed because they are using voice chats to relay information to others which they wouldn't have known about otherwise.
My final example is probably one of the most hated perks in the game but Insidious is made completely useless against SWF groups. Yes Insidious is really annoying to go against however if the survivor, who is getting camped, is in a SWF group then all they have to do is relay information saying that the killer is in the basement or near the hook camping, don't rescue me and just do gens.
Game is extremely unfun
Most of the toxic survivors I run into are in a SWF group and I say most because solo survivors can be toxic too. Against SWF groups, generators get done so quickly because of the information they receive and how well organised their group can be. Here are some scenarios that gives SWF advantages:
"Don't rescue me because he's camping" - This will make all of the group gen rush and get them done quicker because if they wasn't in a group or were using comms then the survivors would have to get off the gen to go to the hook to check if the killer is there. Now you can argue that they will gen rush when they get back however it still buys the killer time.
"The killer is walking over to the gen near shack" - This information gives the survivors an early warning resulting in them getting away extremely fast making the killer unable to get them because by the time he is there, the survivors would have been far gone by then. This makes finding survivors extremely annoying when they know your exact location so they can just avoid you at all costs. Without comms, they wouldn't have known that the killer was coming until they were in my terror radius range.
"His totem is near a corner of the map" - I've explained this in my SWF Makes some perks useless on killers so I'm not going to go in depth but groups can just relay totem placement info resulting in it getting destroyed when solos would need to look around for it themselves.
There are obviously more scenarios but I'm not going to make the reply too long. One final issue I have with SWF groups are the organisation. You can assign a person to loop the killer, a person to heal and rescue survivors, and then two survivors to repair generators. If you're not in a SWF group then games don't have organisation and multiple people run in for hook saves, removing survivors from repairing generators however if it's an organised game then gens just get rushed because all of the survivors stay on gens knowing their friend is being saved.
Reading out killer perks
Another massive issue is if a member of your group dies, they can just read out all of the killer's perks and addons giving out a LOT of information which you shouldn't have. Reading out perks could make the killer's NOED useless because the survivor that died said "Cleanse totems because he has NOED" making the survivors look for totems to prevent it. If the survivor was solo then they wouldn't have known if the killer has NOED or not.
Revealing the killers
Another issue against a SWF group is that they can give out who the killer is before anybody else sees the killer. If the killer is The Shape then they group would know to be on a look out all because of one person spotting the killer in the group. Now you might argue that everyone will find out sooner or later anyway but while this is true, the players still got the advantage and information which they shouldn't have otherwise until they make a sighting on the killer without just being told who it is.
Conclusion
As you can see, I've listed only a few reasons to why killers dodge SWF groups. They get way too much information and they are just organised and can be a bully squads. SWF just breaks the game in SOME situations and because they get so much more of an advantage then solos or even just 2 man SWF groups, killers just dodge so they can have fun or even stand a chance against them if they are well organised. Although I don't dodge them, I can understand why killers do it and I've had experiences with it when I've played in a SWF team.
I absolutely agree. You said it perfectly. My question is, surely the devs know this is a problem - but are they going to do anything about it? My fear is that answer is no.
Either removing SWF, creating two modes, or giving the killers some kind of buff would help these issues immensely. I doubt the first two will happen but maybe the third might.
-
I find killer fun to play... when you dont run into the SWF bullying groups. That drives me effing insane. I've had an entire day of groups like that today, and just really turned me off. I think I'll stick to survivor for awhile.
-
they should either remove SWF from the game, or when the game detects SWF groups coming in, give the killer some kind of buff.

Per example: i played a match the other day SWF with me and one of my friends, we had two randoms. The killer had an ebony mori, so in theory could kill everyone after a single hook. He played Myers and was camping, really hard. Does this work? It can. But honestly camping is a huge waste of time. Even monitoring the hook is a waste of time imo.During this one hook, we ended up getting almost all of the gens done and saving him just before he died on hook. Since he had a mori and was camping there was no reason to go save the guy till very last minute. The killer ended that match with only 2 hooks and 1 mori. We all escaped because he legit camped the whole game. Never checked gens, never left to check the doors. It was a very easy game for survivors. I felt bad that the guy basically got farmed and Mori'd but nothing you can do in a situation like that, even with borrowed time.
Especially now that they nerfed it for whatever reason.
The problem is, sometimes camping works. Sometimes the survivors come swarming and you can start dropping them like flies.
And when playing against a full SWF group that know what they are doing, and using voice, the moment you leave they know it and can tell their friends to come save them, or whatever. Against SWF its a catch 22 for the killer.

trapper has really good basement potential. if you can get people to basement its worth the extra time.I saw a trapper run insidious III once. I was spectating after being the first to die, and I have to give him props, it was great. What he did was hide somewhere after hooking someone, waited until right after the person was unhooked, went in and added two traps at the top of the basement after stepping down, so they couldnt get past him without hitting a trap, then went down there.
The survivors that time didn't have a chance. It was great.
-
I do very well with trapper, so I'm not sure what you are talking about. I've caught many a people in traps. Sometimes you have to think outside the box and place traps in areas they dont expect. Everyone expects pallet and window locations, or around generators. What they dont expect is that wide expanse of grass leading TO the generator, as, you know, its not exactly right next to anything.
Or put in a path you plan to chase someone through, like just around a corner or between two trees NEAR a generator, then chase from the other side. Does it always work? No. But it works often enough because they just don't expect it there.
Then suddenly they become as paranoid as with the Hag. But putting down, say, that honing stone that makes a character drop to dying if they free themselves, or the fastening tools and wax brick to make it longer and harder to escape, they are great add ons as well as the red add ons.
Or anything that adds hemmorhaging while having the blood hound perk for tracking, etc etcPlus, of course, at 115% speed he's fast too, so....

Yeah you gotta look at survivors if they're body blocking to hit them. When I first started playing killer, like you I use to play only survivor but after reaching rank 1 I switched to killer. I started with leatherface and no one would body block. Otherwise it would be a GG since they'd all be downed.Yeah, I just purchased leatherface yesterday to start working towards teachable BBQ & Chili, but using him to dissuade such tactics did cross my mind!
Of course, they can still body block you when you are carrying, since you cant use the chainsaw, correct?
Anyway, I'm going to start looking at the ground from now on, when heading for a hook, and run agitation + iron grip until I get used to hitting those bastards on the ground lol
Press R and pull out your chainsaw. You can probably down all of them at that point.

I had an incredibly toxic enoucnter including a twitch streamer the other day, on PC. I didn't do that great as killer - but I didnt do horribly. Got two sacs, but only after a LOT of work. The twitch streamer and another launched into me hard core after the match.
I was taken aback. It was only the second time it'd happened. The first time was on PS4, the guy threatened to stalk me and tunnel me from that point onward, and I asked him how he planned on getting me in matches. I had a good laugh about that one.

Nothing condones what they said in the chat and it needs stamped out and reported. However it sounds like you and your friends were the instigators originally, why did you feel the need to tell them how sweaty and toxic it was and also how bad they were? You then go onto call the community cry babies and how anything is fair game so why is what they did then toxic? Why did you simply not just leave and move on?
It sounds like you may be just as bad without the use of certain words, never be that person it shows you to be no better than the rest of the toxic players and now someone has taken it further than yourself you dont like it, two wrongs don't make a right.
One thing for you to think about, is this normal behaviour for them or was it how you acted that brought it out.
When we finished telling him how bad he was for playing so scummy because keep in mind i think he didn't get any of us. He used addons on a killer which, those addons you don't even really need. So when we were telling him that his playstyle was not only toxic but complete garbage he then went all out. Also, the other members of the team weren't with me, this was all solo.
And the only reason i say this community is so trash is simply because it is. And anyone who tries to sugar coat it by saying that this is such a wonderful game is simply trying to put themselves in a forced positive mindset. And they think that everything in every game is alright, when it's not.
Dude, it sounds like you started this. Telling him he was bad, toxic, and scummy, and you expected him to take it cheerfully?
-
if the passive benefits were very small, it wouldn't be game breaking. Like, for instance, of Dwight were to give an extra 1% speed bonus to nearby allies, or if exhaustion on meg reduced by a couple percent. Or something similar.

Camping isn't against the rules, but it isn't fun for either and it's quite boring. If you're having troubles learning parts of the game such as tracking, I would suggest asking a nice friend for help so that you can practice. Half of the people you see in those ranks are smurfs and the other half are the ones I play with when I haven't played for a while lol. I swear, those ranks are a giant mixed bag.I'll say Huntress doesn't really need NOED when you get better at her. She's one of the best for a reason. You'll get past those ranks, too. As for the question at hand, camping is expected (imo) when they're in basement, the gates are open, or killer downs first after 3 gens pop. It's respectful when they don't, but I expect it. I think it's also understandable when a person is toxic or if the killer is being swarmed. If you see all three, the only reason to leave is to activate MYC or gain a stack on devour.
I get annoyed when they camp with no gens and with a d/c at start, though good survivors are going to capitalize on you camping. It's more fun to go searching and initiate a chase to catch your next imo. I often get more annoyed with my team than the killer.
You reflected my thoughts exactly. I suck at huntress though, I'm terrible with the hatchets. I'm slowly getting better though.... I do a lot better with trapper, wraith, and, sadly, even clown which I just played for the first time today! I really like huntress though, so hoping I will start to master those hatchet throws before too much longer.

0_o so you're leaving the survivor on the hook to go on a decent distance patrol, return after a little bit to see if anyone's stopped by, and repeating the process until either the hooked survivor is dead, rescued, or you find someone else? That's not camping, that's the survivors being morons for not rescuing when you are obviously nowhere around...
My jaw has dropped on more than one occasion where I hook someone like 2-3 minutes into a match and they almost die on hook while I'm on the other side of the map...
I've said it on multiple occasions: while tunneling and camping killers can be an issue, the thing that's most likely to keep you from pipping up in rank are your allies.
The last two hooks were not really large patrols that time. but in my defense, the first time they were coming in hot, as in trying to rescue them with me nearby, seeing them. Its kinda hard to explain, but basically, I did do some soft camping the first time. I normally don't, but I had noticed the previous times I found them they were often together on a generator, and took off in different directions, yet would end up on another generator all of them at once.
I suspected they were SWF, so I stuck nearby to see if they call came in to rescue... and they did. All of them. They managed to get away despite that, although I got two hooks before everyone escaped. Next time around, was at the end of the game. I never really found them again until right before they got the last generator powered.
I hooked one, soft camped her because, well, generators were powered and her hook was very close to one of the exits. All it would take was a rescue and a sprint to the door and I'd lose them both. So I DID soft camp them, but I always thought at the end of the match like that is a different story than at the beginning.
Regardless they rescued her, I caught up to and rehooked her, chased the other three and managed to down one right before he got to the exit transition point, and took him to a hook.
hook placement was really bad for me this time around. One location had like one hook in the entire area.
Anyway, so I camped the first because of how they were playing. I'd seen it before and I suspected they were coordinated in some fashion, because no matter where I went, IF I found them most of the time they were in a group. I didn't find them often.
And that was just the first time. As I said, I never really found them again until the very end, when I rehooked and got two sacrifices.
I'm beginning to think camping is more legitimate than I used to think, because if the survivors are stupid enough to run in and save someone being camped, they deserve what they get.
I didn't used to think like that, until I have now had around 6 games where survivors swarmed me when I was trying to hook someone. like the ENTIRE group, I'd spend the entire match trying to defend a single hook as they swarmed me. Sometimes the tactic succeeded and they;'d get away after I got a couple hooks, other times I managed to down the entire team.
It always made me scratch my head wondering what the hell they were doing, maybe point farming? But it turned me sour very quickly and made me start to appreciate camping after all.
As a survivor, I've been the sole survivor of a match where the rest of the team would rush in to save someone from a camper, and I'd exit via the hatch because I was the only one who didnt swarm the hook.
So... yeah, there are a few times I've done hard camping. I've NEVER face camped. But I've done hard camping if I thought the rest of the team was going to swarm the hook, but usually I'd either patrol or just run check the other gens flat out. This match was a little different due to the circumstances, but it really was irritating. I came close to a 3k, got a 2k, and was going to GG them and discuss how terrible the hook placement was when two of them TORE into me with amazingly foul language and insults.
So... I dunno. I wondered if it was me or them. Hence the reason for this thread.
-
tell me, how does it differ with the meta thing when you have killers at different tiers of capabilities, with nurse and billy rated top and, say, freddy rated bottom? they all still get played.
Granted, they also don't have to deal with a team, though, who might be raging at you, so there's that.
-
PS4 Dwight here, the only time I would actually go into lockers is for the memes or if I have to afk for some reason. Otherwise I'd rather be as far away from killers as possible. Dwight does seem like a tool but not in my hands 8-) I unfortunately cannot change the way other people play Dwights, I can only hope I don't get killed because someone assumed all Dwights were the same.
with the new locker change, I hide in lockers sometimes, but mostly right before a hook, to wait out 4 seconds for BBQ & chili.
-
yeah, and some of the disconnects are really bad; twice it actually shut down my ps4, and one of those two times it was scary - everything else plugged into that power strip acted up: the lamp flickered, the printer reset itself several times. The PS4 I actually had to unplug and replug TWICE before I could get it to power up - I was scared it had fried my ps4.
I think its causing the ps4 to overheat, as a friend of mine running with a cooler on his ps4 says he hasnt had a single problem. I'm going to try that myself. But I tell ya, it was kinda scary that last time.

I think it's because unless you play with a 4man SWF, the killers (particularly the god-tier that killer players migrate toward) are so favored that it's crazy. They really need to nerf the higher tiered killers a little. Try bringing the bottom and top tiered killers closer to the middle. I realize they will never be equal, but some killers just seem to mop up pretty handily in the hands of a highly skilled player; then whats the point of playing survivor when that is a common occurrence?
-
The problem is the rewards for killer vs survivor; I started playing halloween, strictly survivor, and I got to rank 6 on the playstation, and rank 8 I think on the PC? Anyway, I'd watch match after match where the killer gets a higher score than any survivor the vast majority of the time pretty easily.
I started playing killer about three days ago, rank 20, and I'm outscoring 3 of the 4 survivors pretty easily and handily; once all four escaped, most of the time its about half, and I've had 4 kills a few times. Quite a few 3 kills with a hatch escape.
It just seems like between higher scoring, more BPs because of that, and what most definitely appears to be a game heavily weighted on the side of the killer, it just rewards more to play the killer than the survivor.
With the sole exception as survivor, you can get games a lot faster usually LOL
Anyway, if they made survivor more rewarding in some fashion, more people would play survivor.

so I'm a little newer to the game, but Ive never understood how anyone can endlessly loop the killer; killer is always faster AND gets the... whats it called, blood something, where you start going faster after awhile during a chase? Anyway, seems like unless you break line of sight its a losing proposition. You don't actually loop the killer endlessly. However you can do like lets say 2 loops before tossing a palette down, and then run to the next one and repeat this process for as long as you can until you either manage to lose the killer, they give up and go and guard their gens, or you eventually fall. In truth if a killer wants you dead, you are pretty much going to die because they will eventually catch up to you. But good players can keep the killer so distracted that if they don't check on the gens that the game will be over because of a single chase. I personally give up long chases quite quickly in favor of going after either weaker players, or catching that really good player at chases somewhere else where there isn't any pallets anymore, so they can't hide behind them while I patrol gens.
good point. I've just a couple days ago started playing killer, and I begin to see your point; I'm surprised some of these survivors are rank 20, because they seem to have the tactics down cold, keeping me endlessly looping, chasing, and they get gens done.
I'm finally learning that for myself, break off to stop gen rushing...

sorry, the chase isn't the core of the game. given a competent killer and survivor, it's only a matter of time. survivors get their jobs done by not being found.
this locker change is great. don't like it, Run iron maiden. don't want to use a locker, run drugs distortion, or try to hide behind the generator aura.

I had a flashlight but I'm terrible at it and the killer's back was to me almost right next to the hook, so no way I could position in time anyway.
And the person in question said, roughly, "It was your job to either flashlight him or bodyblock him so I could get my DS in, and he was some noob killer juggling me to avoid the DS. "
So I'm assuming that was him. Reason I didn't was, I'm terrible at the flashlight, but I had no other gear available in my inventory pre match, so that's what I took. I've used the flashlight successfully once, or maybe twice, and he was right next to me on the other side of the wall, so I thought I'd just unhook him right after the killer left. You know, if he didn't camp.
So that's what I did. Apparently even though I unhooked him, the fact i didn't stop him from being unhooked, or helping him not waste his DS, was what enraged him. shrug I did what I thought was best, and I DID help, so I was kinda surprised he was so angry.

Yeah, everyone gets mad very easily in this game

yeah, mine used lots more colorful language than that. He tried to dredge up every curse word in the english language, as well as threatening to hunt me down in every lobby to camp, tunnel, and mori me over and over. I was rather amused by that threat.

hm, another question, how do you cancel the hatchet? I'd just been hitting the attack button, but is there another way?

It's going to take practice and the devs optimizing her hatchet collisions to do well hitting people on the fly, and over obstacles. There is programs that will put crosshairs on your screen, and if all else fails, a clear sticker, or tape to add crosshairs manually.
Edit: being on ps4, you'll probably have to go clear tape option, and maybe tweak your control sensitivity.Circle drops survivors, but you can edit key maps some.
Best bet is to try and hit survivors throwing pallets down, or during their vaults when they cannot really dodge because they are mid animation.
is that program legal, or is it bannable to use it? If legal, what's it called and where can I find it?

The normal key is the circle or 'o' button. Keep in mind voluntarily dropping someone decreases the timer that they need to wiggle. I'd suggest grabbing iron grasp if you want to continue doing such a thing. It wasn't a strategy, it was just a peculiar circumstance.

Look man, I see what you are getting at. You're calling yourself a "solo survivor" as if it completely handicaps you. This isn't true, you underestimate how much trouble a single survivor can give a killer. Calling yourself a "solo survivor" is just your excuse for being bad. Sorry, someone has to say it. I've played a lot as killer and I've seen some damn good solo survivors out there that have carried their team.My advice to you is to concentrate on getting better, not your team. Just slightly improve your looping skills. You'd be surprised how much time a bad looper can waste just by throwing pallets down over and over on a killer's face.
Even go play as killer for a little bit so you can see both sides and learn how a killer thinks.
harsh, but ok. But I can't imagine I destroyed the entire rest of the team as well, every single match. By your own words, a good solo can carry their team, so by that same rationale, wouldnt a single player not spell doom for the team too?
To be a competent survivor, you either need to hide well or run well. If you can't do either one of them, then you're gonna be the first one found by the killer and the first one dead. That's just the way DBD goes.
And, to answer your question. Not necessarily. A killer still has to hook each survivor three times. I kind of speculate what happens in your games is one person gets hooked, then everyone drops what they are doing to swarm for the unhook. Then your killer snowballs everyone from there.
If you are playing games and generators aren't being completed, either the survivors are just bad or you're playing a Billy/Nurse every round. Which is it?
The first. In each case, the group would start saving the hooked, and start getting hooked themselves. I'm well aware that when the killer is camping, you need to work on generators, but it seemed like the team would start going down fast, and then I'd feel guilty for not rescuing people off hooks where there are multiples down already, and it just snowballed.
There were a few billys/nurses, but mostly it was people spending all their time rescuing off hooks or running from the killer, one or the two. I tried working on generators when that happened, but after awhile the team started to thin out....
And I'll admit, my ability to run from the chase is very so so at best, but my hiding skills are pretty decent. However, I'm struggling on the best way to counter the more stealthy killers.

Is it me or are newer players ranking up wayy too quick? Before this crappy emblem system for some reason, newer players were put in ranks they shoulda been in. ######### is going on??? Oh btw Solo survivor is quite weak rn. I play survivor and killers (I used to be a survivor main until the pallet vacuum was removed) so I feel ya pain bro.You know, I think that newer players may well be ranking up too much. I'm rank 8, but I dont FEEL like I should be rank 8. I think maybe I should be 12, but I cant depip without intentionally playing shittier than I am lol
I only have my own opinions to base that on, but I do feel that I'm too highly ranked for my skill level and experience.
Rank 12 is for average players. If ur chases are at least 40 seconds and ur optimal on gens, then yes you are rank 12. From what you've said so far, I'm pretty sure ur a rank 12 too. I could be at rank 1 if I spent way more hours playing in a competitive style but I should be rank 5 only. I'm very good at hitting greats, my chases are usually 60+ seconds with the exception of Clown (about 20 seconds), Nurse (10 secs if I'm lucky) and Spirit (30-40 seconds at least because of my build helping me so much)
Yeah, I think I ranked way too fast. And I wasnt trying to. I think the ranking system and matchmaking system may need some adjustment. Maybe I should play less right now and at reset play a little less aggressively so I dont get in this bind

I'm not even joking I'm a top tier survivor and if I spent more then about 2 hours a week on this game, which is how much I spend per week rn (rank 11 with that btw even when I get tunneled in half my games), I'd straight up be rank 1. Ik that because on Xbox I used to play way more and got to rank 1 with EASE. Once the console patch comes out, I'm for sure going back to Xbox because there's less stress with bad teams since the killers don't get too salty (compared to SOME PC killers who literally tunnel you for 1 chase longer then 30 seconds) and teams are very good there even if they're not SWF, they are competent and play well. But bad teams are natural they're everywhere in this game, just become a 'Solid' in the team. That's what I like to call the best player, a 'solid' because they're normally good enough to help the whole team win by doing long chases. Matchmaking makes there only be 1 'solid' per team as I've seen so far but sometimes you'll get a whole team of 'solids' who play as if they're SWF but actually don't even know each other ^^. This matchmaking needs fixes tho since 1 month of playing this game should not make u rank 1 (no offense you seem like a chill guy)I'm not rank 1, I'm ank 8, but I do agree I dont think my skill level is where my rank is. I am working on my chase skills, I've had some really fantastic chases, and a few that didnt take very long at all, so I'm not there yet.
I think I have pretty much everything else done, its just the chase that I'm so so on.

You seem to be in the natural course of your learning curve playing as survivor, every one of us who play went tru the same, just play as your gut tells you, little by little you will be more and more confident about your skills and start to be more audacious! If you play as a solo survivor , you have absolute no obligation to rescue anybody, specially if they put themselves in danger and failed to escape once the gates were open!
I often leaved the other 3 player who went to get extra points in front of the killer in middle of the map and failed miserably, and when they call me various names in thw chat, my only response was: "this kind of behavior is exactly why I play as solo survivor"
Well, that's a relief to hear. Its one thing if I think maybe I can rescue them, but when three of them are crawling on their bellies and not getting hooked, I recognize bait when I see it. Frankly, when its me on the hook when the gates are open, while I'm well relieved if someone comes in and saves me, I don't blame them at all if they go for the gate.

I wouldn't worry about it who knows. I've played like 1.5 years and wouldn't of had a clue. Its probly 2 little kids.Just play how you're comfortable. Watch some youtubers to see how they play to get a feeling for the meta gameplay then slowly adapt your playstyle if you like.
I suggest HybridPanda on youtube
I've been watching hybridpanda lately; I love how he has a running dialogue with the other characters lol

Remember though, in a trade off for Borrowed Time becoming Deep Wounds, its timer was reduced significantly. So it doesnt count down during a chase, but it doesn't have as long a timer.
Does that balance out? I don't know. My gut feeling is Deep Wounds is a neat idea that needs to be reworked. Having it count down while in a chase just isn't going to work unless they increase the timer significantly to make up for it. But I'm not sure what the best solution for it is.
-
I'm just frustrated because I've watched the killer demolish the survivors over and over. It was crushing. I've played the killer a couple times, and I understand it has a higher bar than I expected, but still, the degrees to which the killer has won by has seemed very significant.
Maybe I've just been unlucky with my teams. They havent ALL ended that way, but its just felt that if the killer knows what he is doing, then the balance is by far on his side, regardless of whether the survivors know what they are doing or not.
-
wait, camping the exit instead of escaping? I've seen a couple people do that, I assumed it was in case you hooked someone they could rescue. is this not the case?
-
how is this any different from camping people on hooks?
