Sexuality doesn't really matter if you're hanging on meathooks

Yeah it doesn’t, so inclusion in lore won’t make a difference

mook ######### does it matter? i want to play the game, rage at Mr Mushwin when i am killer and that be it i dont care about anthing else, I mean do I go on other games and have this stuff to deal with? I have friends, family etc in this but hell ITS A HORROR GAME THINK I WENT THROUGH THIS WHEN SILENT HILL 1 CAME OUT! nope

No one forced you to care about it. But let other people care if they want. I wouldn’t affect you in any way or form. You will still be able to play the game just like ever.

this is a horror game with multiple distinct characters that have established backstories. It’s just logical that relationships may be part of those backstories, there is no need to exclude everything LGBT

  • @Mushwin said:

Just god let it be about horror. The end.

    lol

with all the lore already present no one should draw the line at LGBT+ inclusion.

    what’s the matter?

What you're demanding isn't equality, or diversity. It's pandering. The dev's are doing a fine job creating characters because you don't know what all the characters sexual orientation is. It could be Claudette, it could be Dwight. It could be Spirit, or Trapper. What makes you thing Frank and Julie are heterosexual? Maybe they are Bi.

I am as gay as they come, and the only thing against diversity I see here is the Karen demanding the community I am in to be pandered too.

Heads up for anyone else here; Don't take @ImmersedNurse behavior as how people in the LGBTQ+ act, the people that act out, and demand to be catered too is actually a small minority that find being LGBTQ+ to be cool. Most of us are just quiet and live life like everyone else - we don't make a show of it. BHVR has done a fine job so far with keeping up with equality, and we don't expect to know every characters sexual orientation - because that doesn't really matter in the horror game, nor is anyones buisness.

no one asked for them to straight out state the sexual orientation of a the characters. Just equal treatment in lore. BHVR is luckily on ‚our‘ side and sees that they did treat these topics not as they originally intended. They can’t take the heterosexual hints away. Yeah they may be bi, but they restricted themselves from revealing samesex relationships and won’t anymore.

this is a good thing, even if some people come across as ‚demanding‘ it, there are a lot that just appreciate the side BHVR is taking.

and many people just demand to not include anything LGBT+ without any argumentation but it wouldn’t fit horror or its adjust a video game or they would shove it down our throats, while no one complained about the inclusion of heterosexual relationships (and here was ground for complaining because they said they wouldn’t do this).

  • Yeah, thinking just based on the first moments in the trailer it’s Claudette is totally legit. There they use a different artstyle and lightning so I can see why people think that could have been Claudette with new skin. It’s just the kn-game models look more distinct to one another than, say Meg and Kate

  • Just curious: do you people also can’t tell the difference between chars like Meg, Kate and Nea? Because some of their cosmetics do (from behind) look kind of like they fit for another one, and those at least have the same skin tone..

  • @Farshad7913 said:

i literally didn't notice she was a new survivor until i saw a new name which i didn't recognise. like it or not she IS claudette number 2 because she looks like her, blame the designers not the community.

She has a totally different skin tone and body proportions. And the style is also not fitting for Claudette.

the only things they have in common is not being white and not having straight hair.

  • They actually said Freddy and Quentin will come to the platforms they are currently absent from!

maybe next gen consoles are included, can’t imagine them making the deal for Switch but forgetting next gen XBox and PS

  • No one asked for overexpression or anything. It’s pretty much just that LGBT+ will be seen in the game just as heterosexual relationships already are. Nothing more. You are making a problem out of it.

  • @VIle said:

Maybe they wish to keep the community safe? I already have a slew of racist SOBs hating on my Claudette, this game has LITERAL BLACKFACE BUBBA with the wearing of Claudette's face and every time I run across it I'm tunneled, face camped and KKKed in post chat. I'm not even black and seeing it always hurts my soul.

Maybe by not stressing over a characters sexual orientation they are low key protecting a lot of people from a lot of potential nasty behavior and hate because their community as a whole is disgusting?

I can't imagine getting tunneled and BMed and hated on because you played 'the gay guy' or 'that lesbian chick' and receiving more hate and vitriol on a game, while being part of said community, because I use games to escape the hell that is reality.

Seems like some easily avoidable suffering if you ask me.

They already confirmed they will add LGBT+.

also bubba wearing Claudettes face is not black face. At all. Some racist people might use it as such but they would still tunnel and camp Claudettes without that cosmetic. But that’s really not the topic here.

I must be a weirdo. I've played this game for 3 years and never read a word of the lore and some of yall not only read it but are also wondering who these characters be banging lol.

You are a weirdo because you think being part of the LGBT+ community is only about who is banging who.

if you don’t care for the lore that’s totally fine, no one forces you to read about it or care about the character traits.

Ok shure btw never said I'm postivite just not. Negative

    I don’t care ‚what you are‘.

but I do wonder where you were when heterosexual relationships were added and why you nor anyone else complained about these inclusions.. those are just as irrelevant as LGBT+ themes in a horror video game after all

Pretty sure they said that they are only reworking the code of Dead Hard,so it's more consistent with dedicated servers

Oh well, i didn’t get that. I thought they listed several perks they are looking into including DH, Fixated and some others..

In their words they never said they were or wernt going to Give a character a preferred sexuality and they apologized because they did and didnt want it to go unnoticed

And who the f### cares its a video game why are you trying to sexualized a fictional character

Your post tells me you do care.

it will only be some words in the lore, not something sexualized but maybe the mentioning of a boyfriend of a male character. They did that with heterosexual relationships, and they explicitly said they won’t exclude LGBT+ anymore.

being LGBT+ does not have anything to do with oversexualization. Relationships or struggles with the own identity can just be character traits like being a musician or working as a nurse.

Next PTB will have a Killer rework.

They said they have Clown in their sight, no?

I think they even said directly that Clown will be the next to get a rework change.

i am expecting this with maybe even chase music for him.

  • @Nick said:

Please I dont wan't drag queens running around getting chased. Keep it somewhat like a horror/action game

Why would chasing and killing drag queens not be horror related? They are just normal human beings that may dress somewhat differently..

  • @Squirrel_Thicc said:

If they don't make the character stereotypical or make their lgbt involvement their whole lore and personality then idc what they do.

at this point I would love someone where it’s subtly mentioned in one or two words in the lore and another one where it’s Every. Single. Word. And everything else, from head to toe. Every cosmetic. I want a playable rainbow!

(Just so that people that hate on it just leave or put themselves in end game chats to get banned.)

  • Pretty sure you can’t switch when you are standing in front of the exit gate switch or when near to a hook. Not sure about other areas where you can’t switch (possibly directly on hatch?)

as to when: I also thought it was that cooldown that indicates when you can use... maybe it was bugged when you used it before the meter was full?

  • Better look at the discussions and feedback in the appropriate forum sections, you can see more opinions there for sure!

personally, I like the Twins, they seem super fun to use. But I almost never look at the viability of a killer in terms of red tank matches against super coordinated survivor teams..

  • I don’t know but there are 2 cases were it would still be somewhat usable for the killer:

Endgame collapse ends before survivor can get rid of victor

    Blood Warden

DC's happen all the time on PC though as well lol, DBD should definitely have them for Disconnecting players for sure. As well as a sign showing everyone who is a bot.

I agree. Totally. But the infrastructure of mobile just happens to make unintentional DCs way more common there than on PC or consoles. That was their reasoning to not have bots as high priority for those versions when asked in a Q&A I think.

  • @MasterGrit said:

    DS and DH change mid-chapter?

They actually said they are looking into DH. Not confirming it will def get a rework though and they also didn’t state an estimated time frame when to see something..

  • i actually like it, the voices of other chars have turned me away from them (couldn’t stand Fengs scream anymore at some point). But the new one is actually cool, and I like that it is so distinct to the other ones.

  • Pretty sure licensed chapters would still come with a new realm/map. And I guess we will see at least one before the reworks are finished.

other than that, invalid hope for more variations for the non-licensed realms with only one ore two maps. Ormond would have been perfect with this chapter.

they don’t have to add gay characters if they don’t want too. They probably just said that to please the lgbt community. Be patient they’ll add a gay character soon. They have to make the lore first.

No they don’t have to, that’s right. But they do want to. They stated this very clearly, even though they admitted they didn’t want to include anything straight or LGBT before that (and tbh they probably said that in the beginning to please the anti lgbt community)

  • @BumpEmOff99 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1745540#Comment_1745540

Adding someone gay to the game is just offensive to some gay people, because then they would be stereotyping a look of lgbtq. It is a slippery slope to go down and this isn't the game for it.

Not every inclusion is stereotyping. They did not stereotype teachers with the introduction of Adam. There is no slippery slope when adding LGBT+.

it’s just lore that will get some mentioning of same-Sex relationships, it will not harm you or anyone in any way. The only thing that changed with the statement OP is referring to is that LGBT+ will not get explicitly excluded anymore and just be managed like heterosexual relationships have been managed before.

  • @MadLordJack said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1745421#Comment_1745421

As far as I am aware, none of the characters are straight. Some are in heterosexual relationships. That's a big, big difference.

True, there is a big difference. But the point that multiple heterosexual relationships or hints (eg Ace’s cosmetic descriptions) have been mentioned still stands

  • @druggedpug69 said:

If they did, it would just be for the sake of money. They're a company, they don't actually care about being inclusive. It's the same with all the other companies, they do it to seem inclusive. I think its sad that companies do this for money, but it's just the truth.

They will eventually do it. And even if they do it for the money, no one gets harmed by it, so whatever. All it does is bring diversity and enrichen the lore, make it feel more natural, real.

and -while the company may not care- the people working at that company do care, you can tell by the way they were talking and writing about this topic.

  • “He sounds like a baby, he looks for the most part like a baby, he runs in the unsure manor of a baby, he even lives in a woman's chest for crying out loud“

i... am.. speechless. Are you sure you know what babys look and sound like and how they develop/grow?

i get why people are calling him baby for fun etc but no one really thinks he is supposed to be a baby, right?

  • You agree, but you still complain about the inclusion of LGBT+ and call it ‚forced‘...

  • @freddymybae said:

dbd isnt a story game so why force something on characters

Look at the backstories and rift/tome entries. There is much lore there and why should everything LGBT be excluded? It kinda feels forced when you include hetero relationships but exclude everything else.

  • @BreadLord said:

imagine bringing LGBTQ into a horror game, just play the damn game, if u want to ship dwight x david, just do it

Imagine complaining about people wanting representation, even though it wouldn’t affect your game in any way but enrich the lore a bit.

  • @Jollykins said:

Thats all that it is. Bait. For some reason, a huge portion of the DBD community is part of LGBT, BHVR knows this. Theyll say anything for those extra dollars judging by their current actions.

Just a tidbit Id like to throw in, Id rather we dont have characters with backgrounds specifying their sexuality or whatever gender they may have been previously. Not because of a phobia, relax. I just like the openness of all the characters for the public to play with. Personally, I love the idea of Doctor x Feng Min. But if for some reason Feng Min was suddenly a lesbian, Id be pretty disappointed. Imagine people who like to ship David with Dwight, or Nurse with Huntress (or Wraith). This applies to any future character they place in the game.

BHVR might actually be making a better choice to avoid making LGBT focused characters for the good of the ENTIRE community equally. But I agree, if they dont really have plans for it, they shouldnt advertise it.

If they really did it for the quick cash, they would have just made the next Char LGBT. But they didn’t.

also while they didn’t confirm the sexuality, they mentioned several heterosexual relationships of some chars, and with the statement during pride month they actually just said they will handle LGBT+ topics just like they already did those mentioned relationships. No one said there would be a character which sole focus would be LGBT and no one asks for just that.

  • I would count him as a killer. He and Charlotte together are the Twins. The power is their binding or unbinding. Victor is obviously a special kind of killer though with different abilities..

  • @NekoGamerX said:

I wish they didn't say the survivors sexuality because to me don't matter they be what I want them to be.

also when comes to sexuality there this big gray area being in this realm for years I mean one survivor could be straight he could start have feeling for male survivor same with gay survivor could start have feel for the opposite sex or they Bi survivor guess it wouldn't matter.

sexuality sometime changes in real life overtime so you think in video game it would to so in the end it don't matter.

This sounds like a healthy attitude towards this topic.

people who are asking for LGBT+ inclusion mostly want LGBT+ topics managed just like heterosexual relationships have been mentioned before, doesn’t need to be a hard confirmation.

  • That sounds horrible.

this is the wrong forum section though, post under ‚Technical issues‘, there you issue should reach the right people.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/categories/technical-issues

  • @Fishydevili22 said:

I could see it but I don't think sexuality should be in the game at all heterosexual or homosexual. It does not tie in with the game that well. The survivors are focused on surviving and killers on killing. It feels like it would be too much of a stretch to have any feeling towards other characters at all.

This is only about lore and we already have heterosexuality there. This doesn’t change anything about the game at all.

  • @bm33 said:

I am surprised that in lore - both rift and new characters - they have yet to just be like "her girlfriend..." or "his boyfriend..." like they did randomly with David. I feel like at this point when they finally do it's going to be during Pride month.

I just hope it will be not during pride month. I can just imagine people complaining then they only do it for the money (which the people already do.. so.. doesn’t really matter..)

  • @BaschFonRonsenburg said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/205496/the-promised-lgbt-characters

Gay is two percent, so expect the 50th survivor to be gay for equal representations

trans is far less than 1%, so expect the 10000th survivor to be trans for equal representation.

    thats all.

So.. how many red haired people are there? Should we take Meg out of the game and re-add her once the numbers fit?

also the entity does not choose randomly but people with potential for its intent. And there are many LGBT+ people that have gone through hell and came out still hopeful (for survivor side) or some even twisted/full of hatred and anger (for killer side).

The cosmetic set is the Phantom of The Opera reference I mentioned, and I think the Dev's confirmed it?

And you are totally right. I'm just the big dumb, and forgot about all of those.

That’s not dumb, it’s is actually super irrelevant. But I think people who want to see anything sexuality related excluded should not start at LGBT+ but also with heterosexuality. But no one ever complained about that..

  • They have added multiple chars with mentioned heterosexual relationships. Where were you then? Why didn’t you complain about their inclusion?

  • @NomiNomad said:

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but (aside from the licenced characters) isn't their only one confirmed hetero pairing, the Nurse and Wraith? Even then, I don't even think it was that serious - it was just to get a Phantom of The Opera reference in.

Representation is important, but... I'm not sure this is the right game for it. This isn't a game about lovely relationships, it's a game about murder and torture. Shipping is fun, but at the end of the day this isn't a fun, romantic setting. I think it's just hard to work sexuality into a game like this without facing issues.

Nurse and Wraith isn’t really a thing in game (there is a cosmetic set that kinda hints at it I think?)

but we have: Nurse (was married to a man), David (had a girlfriend at some point), Legion (Frank and Julie, see their tome) and Felix (has a pregnant wife)

  • @gatsby said:

I just hope they don't make a character who's entire personality centers around the fact they're a gay stereotype.

I'd much rather the writers reveal that an existing character is lgbt in the archives lore at some point.

They already stated some time ago that there is at least on LGBT char already in game. At that point they didn’t want to reveal anyone’s sexual preference though so we don’t know who it is and if they ever write a lore entry about them.

  • I would rather see them take there time and include it the right way than just slapping something LGBTQ+ into a probably already finished story where it does not have a place. They didn’t promise to deliver a queer person as soon as possible. They pretty much just stated they won’t exclude them anymore like they did previously.

  • we haven’t seen any cosmetics for them in the PTB.

maybe someone has the prestige bloody cosmetic and can answer if Victor is changed there??

  • I hope we will see them as Legendary skins for the original characters. Purchasable with shards pls.

  • I actually like the current voice, but didn’t really pay attention too much..

they had placeholders for the last few survivors in the PTBs so it could very well be..

I would rather not have AI in normal games cause i rlly dont want boring m1/w games.

I guess they are used in case of DCs and not to fill normal lobby’s. Since DCs are way more likely on mobile, it’s a good call to have them implemented there.

  • They stated a while ago they have no plans bringing the bots to the non-mobile Version. But there have been some code leaks suggesting otherwise.

so.. maybe some day but I wouldn’t count on it for the next chapters, maybe they will talk about it in the 5th year anniversary stream

I'm happy to enlighten you about why people compare Elodie and Claudette. One is French and the other is French Canadian. They both probably both speak French.

Oh dang! My closed narrow mind didn’t make this connection!

(Seriously though, didn’t know Claudette was French Canadian)

1 … 236 237 238 239 240 … 270
