wasnt the official response to all the negative Hillbilly changes feedback "oh you'll get used to it over time, its not a big change"?
well then i wonder how much time they were thinking of, cause right now, multiple months later, no one plays billy anymore, everyone still hates the changes and wants them reverted.
but i can guarantee you that wont be happening.
they centered the entire add on rework around this stupid mechanic so its here to stay, no matter the feedback.
that is why we NEED to have more transparency - so huge screw ups like this wont be happening again in the future.
a simple tweet / dev update livestream where they mentioned "hey, we were thinking about adding an overheat to Hillbillys chainsaw - here are our arguments for why we thik its a good idea, whats your take on it?" could have prevented all of this.
but they rather kept it secret and only revealed it to us when any form of feedback was already useless, because they already spend their ressources making it.
-
i dont necessarily mind it.
but if you BT bodyblock i dont want to hear ANY complaints when im going for you afterwards.
-
the whole point (and charm) of DbD is that survivors cant fight back.
you are forced to play evasive and run away instead of grouping up and beating the hell out of the killer.
if you want to be able to go at the killer and try to beat them, try one of the other games that allow you to do so such as, but not limited to: Friday The 13th - The Game, Last Year: The Nightmare or Home Sweet Home: Survive.

Enough for ruining an endgame when you are playing solo. There is no way to open any door.
you can make illusions go away by touching them.
also, the Doctor is incapable of seeing his illusions auras unless you are Madness Tier 3 (in which case you wont be opening a door anyway) or he is running the Restraint Add On, which allows him to see the auras of his illusions when you are in Madness Tier 2 (but those are a rather rare sight nowadays. back in the day when people could not go back to Madness Tier 1, this was probaply his best Add On - but ever since the Madness Tier nerf it really dropped in popularity and is probaly the worst hallucination Add On he has)
-
yeah its almost like its a scummy move from a company to sell games at full price and then lock all online functions behind a monthly subscription paywall.
thats the main reason why i stopped playing on my Playstation 4 btw, because i was tired of having bought Overwatch for the full price, freaking 65€ (i think - might actually have been 70€), just to have to pay to even get past the very first start up screen.
however, thats nothing BHVR has anything to do with, so they cant help you here.
instead you should be complaining to Sony.
-
thats most likely a latency issue.
on your screen the bar might be full, but for the server it looks like you're still missing a bit, therefore you dont make it off.
also, if a killer hits the "hook" button, they succesfully reached the hook, therefore you cant just jump off anymore.
even if the game adjusts their position to move them further towards the hook, thats just an animation thing - hooks work very similar to survivors and killers in terms of accessibility, all can interact from the same angles, its just that Survivors have the ability to start their unhook animation from more angles, while the killer (for whatever reason) is only able to do so from one specific position, so even when the killer succesfully reached the hook, they might not be in the right position for the game to play the hook animation, so they are being moved there first (at that point the killer has no control over their character anymore either, its just like the hooking animation already started).
overall, wiggeling free should not be a common thing.
if you go down in a chase, the consequence of that should always be getting hooked (unless the killer actively decides not to pick you up ofc), getting off of the killers back is a huge advantage you gain, one that can very easily cost a killer the entire match - so its nothing that should be made any more common than it currently is.
-
so far i havent had any issues on them tbh.
even the corn, which i at first thought was going to be horrible, ended up being not as bad as i would have guessed.
in fact, i prefer them a lot over some of the really dark maps such as Autohaven where yes, there wont be corn blocking my view, but therefore any Claudette cant just blend in with the background even mid chase, making me lose them super easily.
though i havent played on them a lot yet, so i cant really form an educated opinion on them yet.
-
you get your grabs to work 30% of the time?
please share your secrets!
-
i never understood why they removed it in the first place.
we get a huge buildup and then it just cuts away? thats very anticlimactic...
-
that would just increase hook deadzones.
thats a big no from me.
-
prepare for a long post xD
Trapper
Wraith
Hillbilly
Nurse
Huntress
Doctor
Clown
Spirit
Legion
Ghostface
Demodoggo
Oni
Deathslinger
Blight
Trickster
there ya go ^^
god this post is going to be hell when a couple more killers released...
-
hello my fellow normal people, i too enjoy doing normal things such as normally breathing in oxygen!
did i do it?
-
Trickster is like a training wheel Deathslinger, but without lethality.
he plays the same, with the only difference being that you dont get punished at all for missing a shot, but you also dont really get rewarded for hitting one either.
basically, if you wanna do well then drop Yi Woon for Caleb.
i know this sucks, but thats the way it is. lets just hope BHVR actually updates his power to be something unique in the near future - like making the ricochet add on basekit or buffing his movementspeed to 4.6 m/s.
-
i would 100% get Billy back to his old glory.
sadly that also means keeping the old Add Ons (which were kinda busted), but ffs thats a small price to pay!
-
cool addition for solo survivor, but a huge shadownerf to Decisive Strike.
dunno how i feel about it yet tbh.
-
havent seen you in a while Sluzzy, how have you been? :D
-
visually i think Midwich is a very good map.
gameplaywise i despise both of them.
Haddonfield is just extremely survivorsided to the point where killers cant even chase a good survivor without throwing the game and Midwich is just "hold W" the map.
and The Game is another one of those maps where the entire gameplay is just running from safe pallet to safe pallet until you run out or happen to end up in a deadzone thanks to a Breakable Wall, thats also not very thrilling.
but once again. it looks really good xD

just to clarify it was 3 of them together, they managed to take out almost every hook. just between 3 survivors. thats nutty. It's like running old saboteur only you dont even have to take time to break the hook.
oh yeah, youre right.
i actually didnt even notice the perk on the third person xD
and yeah, its stupid having to play against something like this.
and it is even more stupid that there still hasnt been an ingame notification telling people not to abuse this bug, otherwise risking a ban.
this is literally a gamebreaking bug and the official response to that is "eh, thats okay" ?????

Killers get a 4k and still complain the game is broken 🤣
just in case you still havent noticed:

twothree survivors exploiting a known bug to get an unfair advantage over him.neither killer choice, playtime, "main" or match outcome matter even in the slightest.
so please stop treating everything with this stupid "us VS them" mentality.
-
for me thats because i never really bothered putting points into anyone that wasnt Claudette, as they are all just reskins.
-
he is right though.
there is absolutely zero reason why they would nerf him like that.
Add On rework? hell yeah! those were absolutely busted and we could all agree on that - but basekit nerfs? absolutely unnecessary.
the only argument that i can get behind with the overheat mechanic is that hillbillies cant stand in front of your hook with their chainsaw 99%ed and facecamp you to death anymore - but that could have easily been addressed by making his overheat work similar to Bubbas where it goes down very quickly once you either stop using the chainsaw or fully charge it.

No thanks.
Hook grabs rarely work for me honestly since survivors can cancel the grab then do a real grab after killers whiffs. Hook grabs should stay and survivors shouldn't be allowed to cancel grabs tbh.
Without hook grabs you are literally asking for free saves which a lot of killwr mains already feel like there are free saves in game already
@Power_Guy said:
If you're silly enough to do an unsafe unhook, you deserved to be grabbed.
Asking for anything otherwise is asking for free unhooks.
this.
you should not feel entitled to get an unhook, just because you happened to be healthy.
you are not ment to just unhook in the killers face and get away with it for free.
-
its balanced.
finally.
-
nothing.
he is not in the position where he'd need to be changed.
-
yes.
he has ascended.
-
yes, but only as not mandatory sideobjectives.
imo we should stay at gens being the main objective, the only way of escaping, and add more sideobjectives to maps similar to chests or totems.
for example, why not have little altars standing around the survivors can interact with to boost their luck a bit? (and also buff the luck mechanic a bit to make it actually do something - e.g. making skillcheck zones larger)
or, if we should ever go with making maps darker for survivors and giving killers nightvision, why not make it so there are candles they can ignite to make the map brighter for them - and simultaneously make it harder for the killers to properly see aswell (e.g. making scratches harder to see in the candle light).
but i dont think we should have any significant additions to the main objective, as we currently have quite a few killers (and tactics - hello camping) that are balanced around this time, so increasing it could make them too strong.
instead we should give the survivors an incentive to not only hold M1 on gens all game and add some fun other things for them to do.
-
Oni is what Billy wishes to be.
oh how the turns have tabled.
-
depends.
I have Iron Will and she has no Stridor? - probaply the single most fun killer to go up against.
any of the two conditions above are not met? - one of the worst killers to go up against.

To clarify:
With the newest chapter they buffed the RNG on his traps so survivors are less likely to escape on their first attempt.
About a year ago they gave him the ability to reset his traps on the ground without picking them up.
Just before that they improved his traps so tbey don't move when they're set off.
Before that they took away survivors' ability to dismantle his traps so they're unavailable for 3 minutes.
Way before that they drastically improved the speed at which Trapper picks up and sets his traps.
They've also updated Slippery Meat and have planned changes to Small Game to make them not affected by bear traps.
There's probably more buffs that I'm forgetting, but that's a quick recap.
With the newest chapter they buffed the RNG on his traps so survivors are less likely to escape on their first attempt.
they also made it so escaping took a maximum of 6 tries. this really cant be considered a buff, as it also nerfed another aspect. it was a change, sure, but nothing that actually has much of an impact on his gameplay.
About a year ago they gave him the ability to reset his traps on the ground without picking them up.
that was a quality of life change
Just before that they improved his traps so tbey don't move when they're set off.
that was a bugfix
Before that they took away survivors' ability to dismantle his traps so they're unavailable for 3 minutes.
cant argue with that one, that was a direct and needed buff to him.
Way before that they drastically improved the speed at which Trapper picks up and sets his traps.
and he got an add on rework on top, which made them not entirely useless. though this change was implemented around the time Wraith got his first major changes, such as being able to interact with objects while invisible, so its very old. the killer is, right now, extremely outdated and those changes really dont change anything about that.
They've also updated Slippery Meat and have planned changes to Small Game to make them not affected by bear traps.
thats a welcome change, but not a direct buff to him, as he is going to play just the same as before now, given that none of those perks are even remotely common in red ranks.
just because a killer received a few changes down the line doesnt mean they'd be fine (especially when considering that this is the oldest killer in the game)
Trapper needs some serious buffs to his basekit to even be playable in highranks. his mechanics are extremely outdated (especially the RNG part of it) and severely underpowered for how many counters there are to them. it is near impossible to play add on less Trapper, and even with his best add ons he merely gets to be on a level that most killers have achieved without add ons.
and i havent even started talking about reworked maps yet, those are really just the final nail in his coffin to me.
-
on one hand: oh my god those are awesome!
on the other hand, getting them as skins also means we wont be getting them as actual characters...
-
Huntress
-
pretty sure you just cant kick Victor when he is elevated like that, so he's basically an unremovable survivor detector in this scenario (at least that was the case when i found a similar spot on Glenvale - wasnt a window tho).
its most likely a bug though, so i'd guess it wont be around for too long.
-
@IronWill said:
I only see 2 people using it tho? No reason to slug them all to death.
sorry but how is slugging even close to being comparable to knowingly abusing a gamebreaking bug that, on top of being just blatantly unfair, can also literally force the killer to slug?
-
i mean, if there is no obsession the killer can tunnel freely, as they know there wont be a punishment for doing so.
im honestly very surprised at how many people dropped DS now that they can no longer weaponize it.
the general message is, that if you dont want to get tunneled, equip DS. it will create an obsession and force the killer to behave or risk getting stabbed for every surivor they tunnel.

Again, not nearly the same.
Old Legion was broken because he could, with a 100% guarantee, down any survivor in less than 30 seconds.
Unavoidable 2x Stab, then Moonwalk. Unless they get Adrenaline or an instaheal, they are now on the ground, and there was nothing they could have done to stop it.
Legion stabs were unavoidable. Moonwalking's only counters were incredibly niche. Trickster's knives are very avoidable.
Saying "Trickster would be have Old Legion's uncounterable lethality if survivors didn't passively recover from Knives" is wrong.
Even if I were to entertain that notion, we can already say for a fact that he wouldn't be broken, because there's already a killer who can do that who isn't even close to OP.
Huntress has the same movespeed as Tricksy, and can guarantee a health state on every animation-lock. This is the value of eight knives, about double what Tricksy can put out in the duration of an animation-lock. Her punish game is literally twice as strong, AND she has stronger threat at range, but she still isn't overpowered in the slightest.
Even if I were to entertain that notion, we can already say for a fact that he wouldn't be broken, because there's already a killer who can do that who isn't even close to OP.
its not about being strong or not, its about being healthy for the game. and chase cheese mechanics like that are simply not healthy, thats why Legion got reworked in the first place (and old Legion was far from being OP) or why the Executioner was nerfed.
and your entire comparison with Huntress is honestly just wrong. her windup time allows the survivor to make a move based on the info they get (audio cue). if i hear a Huntress ready up a hatchet behind me im absolutely not going to enter an animation that makes me an easy target. on the other hand, if i start the animation before she starts winding up her hatchet ill be able to freely controll my character again before she can shoot.
Trickster would just instantly spam knifes at you. he has no windup that would allow me to make a read based on it.
and unlike Deathslinger, who needs to reel in to be lethal, Trickster can do this exact same thing freely until you are down.

The only comparison to be made is that there is some sense of inevitability to be downed when facing either killer. That's it. The thing is that with Trickster, you actually have a way to delay being downed quickly with smart positioning and the occasional well-timed dodge. You know, instead of being stabbed by a killer that can easily keep up with you 3-4 times or simply drop chase & moonwalk until you bleed to death.
I don't think that removing laceration decay in favor of adding a manual laceration cleanse mechanic would put us in a 1:1 old Legion scenario at all. It would simply add another layer of decision making for both the Trickster player and the survivors. In fact, it could even make Trickster slightly weaker, as theoretically you could juke & break LoS with him during a chase (say, at a god pallet/window) and pull out some knives before he gets around to you. Or if he runs out of knives and goes to reload, you could pull out multiple knives in less time than it would take for the laceration to decay naturally.
Personally I just want to actually be able to track comfortably on controller.
it wouldnt be a 1:1 old legion scenario due to Trickster being slower at it than old Legion was and the laceration bar not passively dropping them.
but in the essence of the gameplay it would be the same: a killer that ends up having absolutely no counterplay in chases without having to put any effort into it whatsoever.
that concept is simply extremely unhealthy for this game, hence the Legion changes and the Executioner nerfs.
would he be a good killer? absolutely not.
with that addition he would probaply still be bottom tier and end up losing more often than not, especially due to how long downs take to achieve with his knifes and this strategy.
but this isnt about "is the killer good or not", this is about whether they are healthy for the game or not - and having such a chase cheese option is simply put not a healthy addition, thats all im saying.
for the survivor side of things he might aswell be old legion, because the survivor that is being chased at that moment has the exact same options as they had with him - hold W and get M1ed or try to use your defenses and get slowly but surely taken down by their power without being able to play around it. it just deletes any form of skilled gameplay and makes it so you can always assure to get the down with whoever you chase at that moment, no matter their skill.
the only way they could implement such an option would be by allowing survivors to pull out knifes while they are running away, at which point the entirety of this change would be redundant, due to it being so extremely similar to how it currently is / by making the power itself unable to down, which would just turn him into a much worse plague or legion.
and btw, yes i 100% agree that his power feels redundant to use on groups of people and that it sucks because you dont get rewarded for spreading the damage at all and are forced to tunnel down one single person with it - but having experienced old Legion back in the day and knowing how easily abusable OPs suggestion would be in the same way old Legions power was, this is a downside i am more than willing to take in order not to get that scenario back.
if i were to change something on him, i'd do two things:
1) make him a 4.6 m/s killer
2) make ricochet blades basekit
that way we have at least created a "personality" for this character (gameplay wise) that isnt just "Deathslinger in bad" and can then act according to the date we receive from him by buffing or nerfing certain parts of his basekit.
like i said, that wouldnt fix all his issues, but it would give us a foundation to build this killer on that is much more comfortable than where he currently is at.
-
im just saving them forever at this rate.
maybe at some point in time they can be something that isnt either extremely over- / underpowered so i can actually have a reason to use them...
-
because he is perfectly balanced the way he is.
he sucks at everything, but makes up for that by excelling in one thing - the chase.
you literally can not nerf his chase potential without turning him into Trickster (who is the perfect example of Deathslinger done wrong), alias the worst killer in the game.

Trickster doesn't injure on hit with his knife, unlike old Legion.
Tricker doesn't move faster nor does he get the location of nearby survivor, he's slower.
Trickster need to hit you 16 times with his knifes to down you from full health, old legion needed to hit you like 4 times total.
It's almost as if survivor have the opportunity to juke Trickster, block LoS force the killer to move around windows/pallet or even break them to continue using his power.
Bubba and Billy are closer in term of power than old Legion and Trickster yet they are still miles apart.
sigh
okay, crashcourse:
old Legion gameplay:
step 1: walk after them with your 4.4 m/s movementspeed until your power is charged enough or they are close enough to get M1ed
step 2: activate power, get a guaranteed hit that adds a lifebar on them and gets reduced with each power hit they take afterwards.
step 3: repeat step 2 until their life bar reaches 0, then hook them.
trickster gameplay with "mending":
step 1: walk after them with your 4.4 m/s movementspeed until they reach any form of window or pallet or they are close enough to get M1ed
step 2: pepper them with knifes during their drop / vault animation, adding a laceration bar on them that increases with each power hit they take afterwards.
setp 3: repeat step 2 until their laceration bar reaches 100% twice, then hook them.
literally the only difference between the two is based on how the lifebar is added, with one running at the survivor, stabbing them and the other throwing stuff at them.
the gameplay is essentially the same.
and i dont think i need to go into detail as to why that would be a horrendous addition, right? (in case you dont know, watch the video in my earlier message)

How would it be unfair or unfun? You're supposed to fear the killer not meme in his face.
It would allow him to apply pressure on everyone who try to take knife for an ally and keep some pressure on someone he dropped a chase with by forcing them to mend or any other action. He's 110%, no where near being able to injure survivor as easily as current or old Legion. Unlike old or even current Legion he has to work to injure you but has so many country like high wall tiles or someone else taking knives for you.
here, old Legion:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oExzT4O0Ap8&ab_channel=ScottJundbut yeah, lets bring that back.
old legion was such a thrilling experience for both sides, such a masterfully designed killer that we really need to bring this amazing experience back in form of the trickster.
thats exactly what this game needs!

@Bard said:

Not really.
Legion injures people. That's his entire thing.
This does not injure people.
they are referring to pre rework legion.
Legions power back then could be abused to cheese every chase by going into frenzy, getting an unavoidable hit to take off ~30% of the survivors deep wound bar and repeat that process until they went down.
trickter would be the same, as now he could just hit a survivor with his knifes during an animation and keep that up until the survivor eventually goes down.
just like old legion, by having to mend the lacteration bar themselves, they wouldnt have the time for it mid chase, which would enable the killer to slowly but unavoidably kill the survivor, which is just no fun for anyone.
so in short, the proposed change wouldnt work, unless we made Tricksters power a non lethal one just like Legions is today.
-
Oni:
- amazing visual and sound design, overall extremely fun power to use that is also very powerfull.
- can be very oppressive towards survivors at times, especially in solo q
- great addition
- absolutely no changes needed.
- i hate getting thrown under the bus because my team ended up feeding the killer his power again and again, but thats not an issue with the killer.
Deathslinger:
- great visual and amazing sound design, overall extremely fun power to use that rewards you for putting time into learning it. also one of the most balanced killers imo
- is build to be extremely oppressive in chases, which many dislike. he isnt unbeatable though, which makes correctly predicting and dodgeing shots feel very rewarding (unless reload time add ons are used, which just screw you over no matter what)
- very good addition
- absolutely no changes needed (he is quite fragile, the slightest nerf or buff could easily push him too far in that respective direction). though i might be able to get behind a short cooldown for dropping your aim without shooting.
- no, he does not need a charge up like Huntress has. i see that idea thrown around a lot and it would completely break this killer. his shots are not ment to be dodged at a short distance!
-
why is everyone making such a big deal out of this lately?
its clear that blight was not designed in this way, he is not ment to be able to do that and it has been confirmed that its something that is going to be removed rather sooner than later.
can we please just let this topic die already?
-
hmm...
probaply Dark Devotion.
dunno why, its a pretty decent perk. i just never really came around to play it.
i heard its very fun on Doctor though >:)
-
their license agreement most likely didnt include the music, otherwise im sure they'd have done exactly that.
i would absolutely not mind having it in though, it would even make for a cool menu theme (if they could remix it with the standart DbD theme ofc)!
-
twins certainly need changes, but not nerfs to what they currently have.
what they tried was absolutely the wrong way of doing things and imo should definitely not go through.
-
whenever you're about to search for a lobby with Trickster, quickly click on a random other portrait and then search for a match.
your overall game experience will be a lot better that way, trust me.
-
because he is oppressive in chases.
and survivors dont like that.
