Depends on the context.
Personally, I try to avoid overpowered killer/survivor setups out of respect for the other player(s).
-
I'm not completely against forking over the cash, but it has to be a damn good skin!
So far, I haven't seen any that are worth the money.
-
Face camping Bubba had become a meme, so yeah, I'll miss that mechanic somewhat myself.
-
The problem is when survivors split up and do gens.
-
Yeah, I'll definitely be trying it out.
-
I'll reserve judgement until I see Zubat play him.
I was never much of a Billy player myself.
That said, I disagree with the devs' reasoning for nerfing him. The argument is to promote skill-based play, but who's to say what skill-based play actually is? That's not a road the devs want to tread.
-
I was just thinking the same thing lol. That whole skill-based argument the devs were making about Hillbilly is silly.
The vast majority of experienced players had no problem with Billy being able to keep his saw revved.
If the devs were against face camping with the saw revved, they should just come out and say it. Don't invent silly arguments to justify bad decisions.
-
The devs would rather have underpowered killers than killers that are able to go toe-to-toe with SWF teams.
-
You have to use your brain while running Whispers. It's a good killer perk if you know how to use it.
-
The devs need to remove his chainsaw slowdown as well.
-
It never did. The devs have never matched people based on how good they are in chases and how efficiently they complete gens (which is what should happen).
-
I would implement deactivation conditions:
The perk deactivates under the following conditions:
- The rescued survivor touches a gen
- The rescued survivor becomes fully healed
- The rescued survivor unhooks someone else
- The rescued survivor cleanses a hex totem

It's extremely powerful as long as it works. Dedicated servers are a big issue for the perk however. That's the largest con of using it. It's almost a 50/50 chance if it even works.
And yet the really good survivors still use it lol. I wonder why that is?

I use both perks regularly, but the pros of Dead Hard aren't enough to outweigh the cons, whether they be intentional or not.
There is a reason DH is frequently used by good survivors. It's because they know how powerful the perk is.
-
And yet the devs have done nothing about it lol (no map rework or perk change).
-
The only thing I don't like about BT is people will use the effect to body block for the person that rescued them.
-
I'm a DH user myself.
The main benefit of using DH is it can save your skin at loops. Not to mention, you can dodge things like hatchets, spears, Nurse blinks ect.
They're both good exhaustion perks though.
DH is very popular in my rank 1 games (and for good reason).
-
As killer, 4 BBQ stacks and at least two kills.
As survivor, escaping through the exit gate.
-
The devs should have just added a time challenge. Stay alive with the crown for 5 - 10 minutes or something like that. Would have made the event less painful for survivors.
-
@Madjura said:
You probably didn't finish the grab / attack animation fully the first time and the crown despawned (it does that randomly). Second time it worked. Legion gets two, one for male and one for female.
You may be right. When the glitter did not show up on my screen the first time, I tried over and over on the same pedestal but it never worked. The pedestal could have been bugged. It worked fine the second game though.
-
Oh wow, I never noticed. I can see that they're slightly different.
Still weird the crown didn't register the first time. Maybe you have to do it twice?
-
I like the style of the loading screen. But I agree the quotes would probably get annoying after a while.

This post is EXACTLY why the devs are extremely cautious about taking too much stock from SOME of the community’s suggestions.
Clown IS Underrated. He is, and always has been very strong in a chase. This alone is all he needs to pressure the survivors. The problem with Clown has never been “no map pressure” or “no mobility”. The problem has always been that very few players use the bottles correctly or smartly. If any killer on the roster is using their power incorrectly of course they’ll be perceived as weak.
What the balance team did for Clown was a very big deal. For the already competent Clown players it has made them so much more lethal in a chase. In fact my current attitude regarding Clown is that if he has at least 2 bottles available and a survivor is spotted, that survivor is 100% screwed, or at least taking an injury if the Clown strategy is run n gun.
When a Clown player knows what they’re doing:
- They ruin survivors spacing, denying them vaults and pallets.
- Or force survivors to waste resources (early pallet drops) at a very fast rate.
- Trick survivors into EXACTLY where Clown wants them to go.
- Or completely cuts them off from reaching in time tiles/structures that Clown doesn’t want survivors to access, or at the very least makes those structures that seem very safe against other killers, VERY unsafe against Clown.
And the devs KNOW this. They know that eventually when more players figure Clown out they’ll start quickly downing survivors left right n centre. It’s why they’ve been very conservative with such a small change, and will closely monitor how this affects Clowns performance for a little while. Clown can very easily become overpowered if the devs aren’t careful, especially if they ignored their own guts and took on too much community feedback and implemented it into Clown, feedback from players don’t use Clown often, don’t think about how or where they’re throwing bottles, and generally don’t really have a clue what they’re talking about.
What perks do you run on Clown?

No excuse at this point. BHVR KNOWS that their sound system is constantly messed up. They know this. It will be fixed for one patch and then broken again for the next several months.
Just this patch they were attempting to fix a sound bug. How could they not have a team of testers specifically dedicated to testing ALL sounds knowing that they tinkered with the sounds to fix the bug. They should be constantly testing the sound system every single patch because it breaks from seemingly miniscule, unrelated changes all the time.
They're 4+ years into this. I wanted to give the benefit of the doubt at first, but this just screams incompetence or, worse, complete neglect.
You're 100% right. It is incompetence and neglect.

I have time playing games on PC and keyboard is just janky. And again, Quake is a twitchy game. There is more value to changing directly quickly. DBD is not Quake. It's more about being able to hug loops or doing 360 movements, both of which are easier with a controller. Not that you can't do it with a keyboard, I never said that, just that it's easier with a controller. Pretty much everyone I've spoken to has said this, if you don't think so you'd be the first to say that to me.
I was just told by a mod on that subreddit who said analog sticks have a natural delay, which makes movements less snappy. Multiple other people on the thread have also confirmed this. The mod also said they have never heard of anyone using an analog stick for movement in a competitive FPS game.
So, it seems to me that keyboard is faster than a controller. And I even provided you a few examples of why snappier movement would benefit you in DbD. Don't believe me? Try it yourself for at least a thousand hours like I have.
And you still haven't answered my question about how many hours you have playing DbD with a keyboard. As far as I know, you still play DbD on console.

Tell me why would a PC Quake player ever touch a controller?
I'm telling you that you get better movement out of a controller. There shouldn't be a delay, that has to be a placebo. On console there might be a delay but that's the platform. I've done game testing, QA and UX type stuff. Using a controller on a PC shouldn't have a delay.
Because these guys have a lot of experience playing high-skill games. If a controller was actually better, they would know considering the competitive nature of Quake.
Also, since my experience isn't good enough, you can try it yourself. How many hours do you have playing DbD with a keyboard? You told me once before that you play on Xbox.

Again no one that plays exclusively on a PC in a high twitch game would even try using a controller. So I wouldn't take their word for anything honestly.
Quake is arguably the most skill-based game out there. If anyone would know, it's them.
Also, you don't have to take their word. You can take mine. I've got thousands of hours of experience with controller and M&K playing DbD.
When you tried to tell me that controller is better, I knew something wasn't right. So I asked the pros and they told me about input delay. I tested this myself just to be positive and sure enough it was there. I always knew keyboard was more snappy but I didn't consider why that was the case.

I tried with PS4 controller and mouse. The feel is so unnatural for a FPS veteran like me. I can't see how it can be better than M&K even with practice.
It's not lol. I just asked some Quake veterans and they said M&K is better. A keyboard doesn't have dead zones like a controller.
-
Not if those survivors know what they are doing.

It's minimal, but yes you get snappier movement with WASD. But you lose out on the ability to move at any angle you want or change speeds which can be more valuable.
I doubt anyone would be using a hybrid setup because it's just not normal. Quake is also a highly twitchy game, DBD is not. DBD relies more on being able to hug objects which means you want to be able to move at any angle. I doubt anyone that plays games exclusively on PC would even have tried using a controller for anything, so it's no surprise that they wouldn't know about it. You know like, why would they ever try it if they never play with a controller?
It's not minimal lol. I just tested it.
Also, those snappier movements are important. You can dodge hatchets, spears, and chainsaw sprints more effectively (just to name a few).
Lastly, you can hug objects just fine with keyboard.
-
Yep, it's happening...

Nothing to do with you having problems. It's just more optimal to use a controller for movement. I don't have problems aiming with a controller but I won't deny that a mouse is just more optimal.
I just made a reddit post and asked the Quake veterans there about what you said. Most of them had no clue what you were talking about.
Keyboard is better because there are no dead zones. With a controller, you have to move the analog stick from one side to the other (meaning there is a delay). There is no such delay with a keyboard because you can instantly press one key and let go of the other by hovering with your fingers. This allows for snappier turns.
I even tested this myself in the survivor tutorial. With a keyboard, I was able to make more quick and responsive turns. However, when I used a controller my movements were less quick and responsive.
-
Dang, I'm going to have to try this XD

Yea no one uses a mouse and controller because people are binary. They pick one or the other.
Mouse is better for aim.
Controller is better for movement.
Use both to ascend to the next level.
I've only experimented with it in Brutal Doom but it works WAY better than either individually. Only drawback is that it's not very comfortable since you have to basically hold the entire controller with 1 hand, but I was just resting it on my lap.
Still sounds very strange to me. I've never had any problems using my keyboard for movement.

I played PC for a long time (not DBD just PC in general). You have way more control over movement with an analog stick. You can move smoothly in any direction you want. Moving with a keyboard looks and feels so janky.
There is a reason a lot of people playing survivor use a controller, because doing 360's are easier and it's easier to hug loops. You just press the stick in the direction of the wall. With WASD you have to constantly adjust your camera to get the same result and even then it won't be as smooth.
Hence why I say play with a mouse AND controller. You get better aim and movement.
What you're describing to me does not pan out in practice (at least in my experience).
How long have you played DbD using M&K only?
Because 99% of the really good players I know use M&K. I've never heard of people using a controller and mouse together before.
You'll have to link some footage for me to see. Otherwise I have no idea what you're basing this on.

Tbh, 50k blood points a day is pretty sweet.

Isn't funny how whenever there is a major problem that affect survivors it gets fixed right away?

Not true, you have better control over your movements with a controller. Using a digital input (WASD) is very limiting.
Are you still playing on console? Or have you made the switch to PC yet?
Not trying to be mean, just want to find out how much experience you have with a M&K.
-
Gen rush is still an issue even for killers that don't have tunnel vision.

Can you move at a 35 degree angle forward and to the right with WASD?
No.
You can with a control stick.
Controllers are good for racing games and that's it lol.

Yaw is horizontal and pitch is vertical. In some games controller can compete with m&k especially if there's aim assist/no need for precise aim. Take spider man for example. You don't need to precisely aim to web someone up. Just move your cam to highlight an enemy and spam r1. Second example: Playing night hunter in dying light is hard with a slow sensitivity however you can put everything on 100% and still be able to compete like a pc gamer. Of course the effort spent is 3 times more than just using mouse and keyboard.
You'll still have faster response time with a M&K.
-
I took some screenshots of my key bindings. You can use mine if you want (I think they're pretty intuitive for a console gamer).
M5 is a side button on my mouse. MW DN means scrolling down with the mouse wheel.

You dont need m&k for survivor if you play on 100% sensitivity for both yaw and pitch on controller.
What is yaw and pitch?
Also, controller can't compete with M&K. You'll never achieve the level of responsiveness that M&K has with a controller.
-
@Boss said:
I can play both.
And Survivor's honestly fine with either.
But as Killer, i need to be able to turn fast, 360s would be way too annoying without.
If you want to play survivor at a really high level, then you'll need to use M&K. All the best survivors use M&K.
-
@thesuicidefox said:
You should play killer with a mouse (aim) and controller (movement). It is the future. WASD is old news.
Lol no it's not 😂 M&K will always be superior.
-
I can help you out since I used to be a console gamer myself.
I made the switch from Xbox to PC a while ago. Now I have over 2000 hours on PC.
I didn't have too much trouble playing killer with M&K (only certain killers gave me issues). Survivor was a lot harder to play.
At first I was using a controller when playing survivor. But then I decided to endure the really bad matches and learn to use M&K. It took a while to get good but I did it (through perseverance).
I highly recommend you learn M&K. Once you do, you'll realize just how superior M&K is.
One last thing I should mention that is very important. DbD was not my first PC game. The first PC game I played was Dragon's Dogma on Steam. That game genuinely helped me get used to M&K. If you're having a really hard time adjusting to M&K, I encourage you to purchase a single player game to help you learn M&K baby steps at a time.
