I know it sucks, but it's really not fair on the other Survivors if your internet frequently drops, even more so if you're the Killer where the match ends entirely.
It's nothing personal, but that's how it be.
It's also not fair for the killer. Survivors can recover, and still pip. If someone DC's at red ranks...the chances of that killer pipping are almost none.
-
Short answer: Yes it should.

WHERE IS MR. CUTTY!!?
-
Unpopular opinion - Ardetha, even before the Nurse nerf, is a decent killer - but he's only upper mid tier Nurse. There are people far better than him.

There are plenty of games that have done the same and then when a new version comes out people still play it. Call of Duty and Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare just to name two. It would obviously depend on how well it's made, but if they learn from their mistakes in the first one then they might just increase their playerbase instead of losing it.
Those are from established studios with histories of success. This is BHVR. With literally one mildly successful game. Everything else has been an outright failure or a second rate licensed game/port. Plus, you didn't address the elephant in the room - the hundreds of dollars people have spent on DLCs and cosmetics. All for a game that, quite frankly, should be listed as Early Access in it's current condition.

Yes, my input of "you can't penalize for this for this valid reason" was less pointless than "omg why cant survivor see the killer before the trial". I participated. All you did was say "nuh uh". Guess we'll just have to agree that I'm right.

Yes it does all those things. But there are other perks that are much more useful to me personally against every killer other than a ghostface. Everyone has their own strength and weaknesses. I readily admit I am weak against a ghostface and spine chill would be a welcome addition when playing against one. At the same time I don't really have need of it against other killers. There are perks more advantageous to me against other killers. So ha ha all you want. It doesn't change the fact if I played spine chill it would basically be for those times I play against one particular killer. That's fine, but doesn't change the original point I was making.
Okay, then use the other perks then. That's your choice. The point is, these perks do these things, so your entire point was invalid.

Against most killers I have no need of spine chill. We can play this stupid game all day.
Spine Chill increases repair, heal, and sabo speed while also hard countering the thing that makes Ghostface strong in the first place (and providing you of a heads up for all killers). This isn't useful?
Okay then. haha

Blocking their profile doesn't just prevent them from contacting you, it seeds them out of online interactions as a whole. That includes in-game interaction.
That only works on console. Blocking someone on Steam/PC does NOT seed them out of anything.
-
If they release a DBD 2, it will have a short life. They've invested so much into this game, and sold us so much in terms of cosmetics and DLC, plus, the grind. If none of that was carried over, the sequel would shrivel up and die.

Down the road, absolutely. Now? I respectfully disagree.
It's just down to the nature of how disconnects are handled. It's done so nonchalantly without penalties, and punishes literally everyone else left in the game 10x more than the person who actually DC'd.

Hmmmm...... for a survivor to utilize a perk to counter a particular killer they would have to know what killer they are going up against before the match starts. I can make a wild guess and assume I am going up against a doctor and play calm spirit, but then if I end up against a ghostface that calm spirit doesn't mean crap. Good try though.
Correct - except, calm spirit counters more than just Doctor. It counters screaming. ALL screaming. Including Infectious Fright, which has made it's way into killer meta lately.
Good try, though.

-
Now, I'm conflicted. I know you're right. You are absolutely correct. Their game is too broken to justify DC penalties...BUT, I also think DC penalties are a necessary evil right now.

DC Penalties are one thing - but if you start penalizing lobby dodging, the devs will have a dead game on their hands.

You're missing the point. Killers get the option to bail on games they don't like the look of. Survivors don't. So as long as we have to load into a game before finding out it's going to be a waste if time, there will be DC's. Or suicides now that the DC penalty is back.
I understand that survivors shouldn't be able to tailor their perks to the killer chosen, but they should get the option to bounce if the killer can see what the survivors have.
Either both sides get the opportunity to bounce without penalty or neither should. Otherwise the system is unfair inherently.
Survivors also have perks that can hard counter just about every killer ability/perk in the game, and outnumber the killer 4:1.

BT will only work if the killer makes a mistake and doesn't time the grab. This is also dependent on the killer because if it's a chainsaw killer, you minus well not have BT.
Good luck getting Mettle of Man stacks against a killer who doesn't do anything.
Insta-mettles doesn't make you immune to getting grabbed while making the unhook. Maybe if it was a chainsaw killer, you could tank a hit and use BT on the saved survivor. However, the killer is just going to camp you now, all you did was switch hooks and gave your team more time to do generators.
The only true counter to camping is doing generators, which is why Insidious isn't good and No One Escapes Death is. NOED will make sure survivors take their sweet time doing totems instead of generators or make you very lethal in the end game.
If the killer isn't doing anything (not even hitting you when you go for a save, which counts as a protection hit for mettle of man, assuming you're good enough to bait the hit), how can he be camping?

So, first people just tell me to use walls and pallets to deal with him, then say that I shouldn't use them.
You see my frustration here? I say in my opening that this is just a general overview of a symptomatic problem, say that it isn't always possible to play optimally, and I get nothing but "You're wrong! Play better!" in a thread about problematic design and the beginnings of learnig a character.
This is why I wanted the thread to disappear and why I'm starting to become more hostile towards some people on this thread. Everyone has missed the point. Nobody sees what I do. Maybe in the rest of The [Killer] Problem series, people will understand.
I said objects. Not specifically walls and pallet.
Trees are objects. Rocks. Hay bales. Tractors. Cranes. Junk piles. Generators. Lockers; EVEN free standing hooks in the middle of nowhere to an extent. These are all objects in addition to walls and pallets.

Just because it doesn't assist with a playstyle you approve of doesn't mean it's poorly executed.
Actually, to correct you, both me and the developers don't approve of perks that encourage players to prevent other players from playing the game.
There's a reason why camping is extremely situational and have multiple counters. That's the developers way of keeping killers who camp, just to camp, in check or suffer the consequences.
You will suffer emblem points for camping.
Survivors will genrush you once they notice you're camping.
If you make a mistake, survivors will use their second chance perks such as BT or DS to save victims from the hook.
The developers want killers to camp, just when survivors are nearby. Otherwise, they have gameplay mechanics and perks to quickly discourage camping because camping prevents someone from playing the game.
I also implied Insidious is not going to help you against a SWF, it's a perk that feasts on solo survivors.
Any perk that is good against a particular group of survivors is just not designed properly in my opinion. Shadowborn doesn't take advantage of either group of survivors, the benefit is dependent on how well the killer can use their field of view. Insidious on the other hand, takes advantage of solo survivors not having communication with their teammates.
Lastly, Insidious is poor designed camping perk to begin with. If I'm going to camp for fun, I'm just going to use No One Escapes Death because now survivors have to cleanse 5 totems upon doing all generators before the hooked survivor dies.
There you go, that's my reasoning as to why Insidious is a poorly designed perk. 😁
Camping doesn't prevent anyone from playing the game, though. That's the thing. Borrowed time exists. Mettle exists. Insta-mettles exist. Even the dev (one of the ones you just spoke for) said, in this thread, it's supposed to be a counter to Kindred. It can only be said counter, if the killer is within a small distance from the hook and standing still. AKA - Camping.

So, you're telling me that in the middle of a Macmillain Estate map, with only small trees and a large rock nearby a generator, that I'm a bad survivor because Hillbilly decided to take a 2 minute stroll with a chainsaw around the rock, my largest piece of cover, while my useless random teammates do nothing?
If I try to go for a building, he gets me. There is no pallet. There is no nearby vault. It's the most dangerous generator, yes, but it's the only one near me. The other one is on a hill, and I have no clue where the other one is. I'm running Sprint Burst on this character, so the hill is very unsafe.
So, in this situation, I'm just meant to bend over, and take it like a champ, huh?
If you are on macmillan, next to a tree, and can't force him to either hit the tree or M1, you need to work on your survivor skills. Stop looking at pallets or windows as your only line of defense against Billy.

It's not always the survivors fault, if it's a map area with zero cover. If I only have generators in the near open, with small rocks and trees to cover me, no wall, no gyms, no nothing, then it's hardly my fault for trying to do the objective since there is nowhere to go since they are the only spawns for generators.
And personally, I disagree that a 3 second animation warrants a "cooldown" on Hillbilly's chainsaw, since it does so much for him.
No, it absolutely is. A generator, aside from like, cornfield maps (most survivor sided maps, btw), is almost always next to an object that you can use to force a Hillbilly to M1. Even the most killer sided maps have these obstacles; and yes, the 3 second animation is a cooldown. The devs call it a cooldown, therefore it is. Whether your agree or not. It is a cooldown. That's not even counting the charge time of the chainsaw, either. Maps are not designed to be safe 100% of the time. Survivors are meant to be in danger. A good survivor goes down to an M1 from a Billy more than they do a chainsaw.

Camping is already lightly punished by reduced emblem score. It is not a fully endorsed playstyle or they never would have implemented a punishment for it, no matter how minor. It is a bad playstyle that negatively impacts *every* player's enjoyment. No matter how much it's not reportable, it *is* penalized in game.
I have nearly 1k hours played and have been red ranked in both survivor and killer for over a year. Just because you want to defend a crappy playstyle that results in a negative experience for 4-5 players in the game doesn't make me 'inexperienced' by any stretch of the imagination.
Perhaps instead of resorting to personal attacks, you bring an argument with merit. Except you can't, because it's indefensible.
Insidious is a poorly designed perk and always was. It promotes a toxic, unhealthy playstyle that's more likely to push people to quit the game than not. It belongs in a dumpster with flashlights, head on, and moris.
It's lightly punished by emblems, but the keys to it's punishment are in the hands of survivors, and yes it is fully endorsed. IN FACT, the original DBD instructional videos that existed before the interactive tutorials IN GAME literally displayed camping as the original, intended way to play.
Camping is the POTENTIAL, if SURVIVORS ALLOW IT, to have a killer to very well in a game. While the emblem system punishes it lightly, camping will likely not stop you from getting a pip if you three-hook everyone (and you'd be surprised how often survivors allow that to happen. It's penalized heavily if survivors choose to do so, but it can still win you the game if the survivors allow it.
Note how I keep mentioning the survivors, and their allowance of camping. They are the only ones who can truly punish it.
As for your supposed red rank status - I'm going to have to say that's a bold faced lie, base purely on the incredibly flawed "freeze hook timer" idea. Which as I said, has been done, and it was abused.
-
@PigMainClaudette said:

An animation is not a cooldown. And the charge time can be hovered, unlike Freddy, Doctor, Pig or Plague. Once you let go, it's done. No holding charge, no nothing.
If said animation prevents him from doing literally anything else for 3 seconds, yes, it's a cooldown. That's literally how cooldowns in video games are defined.
The holding charge you're referring to is called back revving; and can only be done if the survivor is caught out of position. Which is their own fault.

It does not hard counter insidious. I only counters it in the specific situation where you're camping a hook. Feel free to camp a gen with it all you like. Personally, I'd pause the hook timer any time a killer was within 32m of the hook. Camping should not be rewarded in any way, shape, or form.
Insidious is a perk designed to aid the camping playstyle. Whether that be hooks, gens, etc. Hooks being the most effective.
So, I repeat, what perk would counter something like DS in the same completely negating way? Camping is a legitimate playstyle. The devs even officially endorse it. The thing is, camping is ONLY rewarded if the rest of the survivors are boosted enough to continue going for saves. It's BLATANTLY obvious when a killer is camping, even when they have insidious.
Actually, I see you said you'd pause the hook timer. I can already see you're new, just by that statement. They've done that, and it was abused to no end. If you don't see how that could be abused, you need to stop and rethink your ideas. Just by your words alone "camping shouldn't be rewarded" (which it isn't against survivors with a brain), and "pause the hook timer", I really don't think you're at an experience level to be having balance discussions on what is and isn't OP. No offense.

That's called slugging. No need to waste a perk slot. That or just not tunneling, but I'm not getting into the DS whining again. I don't use it and I never get hit by it. As far as I'm concerned, you could delete it tomorrow and the only effect it has is bad killers tunnel more than they do now.
No no no. If Kindred, a perk, should *hard counter* a killer perk, Insidious, negating it's effect entirely, what perk can I use that makes DS not work at all, negating it's effect in kind?
Apples to apples. Slugging is not a perk, nor is it a counter.

Do you have any plans on reworking the perk? 😁
How is it poorly executed? It's a perk that assists with a legitimate playstyle.
There are plenty of other perks that assist with a vast array of playstyles. Just because it doesn't assist with a playstyle you approve of doesn't mean it's poorly executed.

I actually haven't noticed a difference. People are still DCing.
Today, I had a game as Wraith, on Ormond. I downed a David, hooked him. I then downed a Jake, went to pick him up, and a Laurie came in with a flashlight save. So I chased her into the building, and downed her in 10 seconds. I shook me head in game, and she DC'd.

I do agree that it's important to understand why people are disconnecting, but at the same time, waiting until every possible annoyance is gone before enforcing them is not viable. We can only change so much in an update, and making sweeping changes to the whole game can take years.
But more importantly, there are quite a few times where people disconnect for no reason (or petty reasons). I've had people get caught out of position, dead hard into a tree, and then disconnect because they went down. I've had people disconnect because they chose to bring a hex perk and it got cleansed before they could use it. I've even had a Legion disconnect on me after failing to catch me at a Z wall. I'd love it if people only disconnected when they needed to, don't get me wrong, but in reality, there's a lot of people out there who will disconnect over petty things or arbitrary rules that they have set for themselves.
TL;DR - Take the L when you lose, and don't DC.
BUT, what about people getting penalized for rank update errors and the like? It's been asked multiple times and you seem to conveniently gloss over those posts.

Stay in game - taking it hostage. Get banned. (possibly?)

Reason for Disconnecting is also subjective to the person.
So??? Your argument please?
Someone might think murder is fun = subjective
Someone might disconnect because they are having a bad time = subjective
When you DC, you technically are “taking the L and moving on.” These posts are literally people whining about someone else’s choice. They DC, so you accept and move on just like you’re telling them to take the L and move on. But this is all subjective because it’s literally opinionated.
No it's not. Valid reasons for disconnecting are dictated by the devs and are in no way subjective.

Lol what?
You just said “Fun is COMPLETELY subjective” yet consider DC for not having fun as an “illegitimate reason.”
Pick a side. If someone doesn’t want to play in match because they’re frustrated or blatantly not having fun, they have the right to leave. Leaving for any reason is subjective to the person leaving. I would love to see the queue times post DC penalty on Console (Xbox). Talk about a Nuclear Bomb. If I don’t play with friends I get at least 1-2 DC’s a game as killer or survivor.
I played survivor with friends last night, group of 3, played 3 games in an hour. Implement a DC penalty and you affect MM yet again. What happens when you penalize a player for a time-limit for DC’ing? They play another game or don’t want to play that particular game anymore because if they’re not having fun, they get penalized for leaving.
Good luck penalizing players for leaving out of misery. Make your game more enjoyable and people wouldn’t feel the need to DC.
Fun is subjective. But DCing because something is happening in game that you don't like is not a reason to DC. Take the L and move on, don't ruin it for everyone.
What were you trying to get at here? Cause it didn't work.
