FAQ for Nintendo Switch Release Time Changes – Dead by Daylight
We do have an FAQ on our Player Support site to give further information.
-
I've not had chance to read through it all yet (but I will!), just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed post - it's very much appreciated.
-
The addon is being reduced in rarity. Fragrant Tuft of Hair will no longer be an Ultra Rare basically.
-
I'm sorry but nothing has changed, there are no current plans for a Switch 2 update.
-
There is no plans to support Linux I'm afraid.
-
We're not able to help on the Forums I'm afraid, but I would definitely suggest you contact our Player Support team:

How much is the Suggestions channel actually monitored? If you rated it from 1/10 in terms of impact on the game, what would it be?
It's monitored several times a day! We take feedback from across all platforms.
-
Our moderators don't move threads because they're "problematic" - they move them to the correct channel to enable the CM's to be able to view feedback and suggestion threads quickly and easily…having to hunt through General topics is not time productive for the team and we'd be far more likely to miss relevant feedback if everything was in one place.

You may be right, I studied game design tho and I learned there was always a Research and Development role in big game companies. What I pitched is just a more focused version of that.
That's true, and that's what User Research does, they run playtests and surveys with the players who are signed up here:
Behaviour Interactive Playtesting
User Researchers are not game designers however, they are experienced in the field of user research and normally data analysis also.

In my opinion your company needs to employ staff back into your balance team, handing that task over to game designers will cause further examples like the last PTB as their tasks will be numerous. It would save time in the long run for development of this game. I will be honest that you no longer have a balance team.
It's always been a game designer position - you have Live Designers, who are responsible for all live content (so everything in the game that gets changed), and then perk designers, then new content designers (so new killers for example).

@Mandy I didn't say the 'Game Design' section, I referred to the balance team.
I don't need to tell you that your balance team's decisions have been awful and what is even more worryingly clear is the lack of foresight.
It is very obvious what is needed to be done asap with this game but I can predict this time next year this game will have crumbled. Please save your game before then, you need to listen to key people in your community and not by posting surveys with many many of those loaded questions.
Good luck and good night
There's actually not a "balance team" it's not a role in game design, the developers who work on Live design are game designers, and have been with us for many years.
-
Thank you for such detailed and constructive feedback!
-
Just to confirm, the people we've got working on the Game Design section have been there for a very long time, most over 4 years, some as much as 8. Some people have moved to other projects but the majority is still in situ.

Okay but like this is slightly worrying because, Oni received compensation since he would be negatively affected by the anti slug changes due to how his power works, And this also negatively affects them but worse than Oni since Twins's problem is that they cant pick up survivors normally like any other killer because of how victor functions due to separting from charlotte and Charlotte cant pick quick enough.
I'm guessing because it's a simple number change on Oni, I think pretty much everyone would agree, that a simple number change on Twins won't really do anything.
-
The most frustrating part about The Ghoul from survivor side, was his "kidnap tech", by removing that we feel that this will open the door for survivors to have counterplay to the killer, we've already seen this happening amongst survivors even with kidnap tech.
-
There's no plans made at present for them, Twins will very likely be on our radar though for the future.
-
It's not in our plans at the current time, we're working on some other things but it's not off the table

I just wanna know how many times a killer got hit with Blast Mine 💥 🤣🤣🤣
Why is that ability so fun!? I’m always in a bush nearby to watch it happen.
Mech The Bush is now your new name to me!

Yes, the official kill rate was 55%. Now it's closer to 70%.
It really isn't, it's very close to the original kill rate.
We will be sharing a lot of the stats after the event has ended, including some fun ones to do with the classes.

might look into it (the office is on the other side of the country tho… hopefully working from home is an option at BHVR)
normally it's hybrid, so 2 days in office the rest can be at home if you desire.

awww thats a shame i was thinking of applying for an internship in the netherlands office :(
I'd still encourage you to!
If you want to work in the industry and have an opportunity at an internship at one of our studios then it would definitely be worth it. -

There is a BHVR studio expansion in UK & the Netherlands so this is a fact.
Just to clarify something - none of those studios work on DbD, they have their own projects. And whilst the offices here maybe large, not everyone is working on DbD there's a lot of other sectors and projects that people are working on.
We'd love maps for every chapter, unfortunately it's not always possible - dbd900bach is absolutely correct when they say that it's how much time it takes to develop a map, it's really involved, much more than I ever knew or realised until the last few years.
-
I am so very sorry for your loss
-
That would definitely not help with the problem of queue times unfortunately, the multiplyer is there to encourage players to play in the role where more players are needed, and as is often the case with 2v8, that role is the survivor one. It's not a lack of players, it's the draw of having 2 Killers playing together, so encouraging some of them to play the Survivor role, even for bloodpoints can help to reduce the Killer queue time slightly.
-
Hi, sorry about this, the perk should now be Kill Switched again, it was unfortunately re-enabled prematurely ahead of Bugfix Patch 3.

Ah! Okay. My apologies! It’s been a LONG work week so everything is a blur for me at the moment until the weekend gets here. 😅
ohhh I feel that as well lol!
-
Yeah nothing this week, bugfix patch will be next week!

I think the main difference is DBD tries so hard to hide MMR from players, that it really just doesn’t feel like DBD cares about balance at high MMR.
For example, we were told there was a focus group for the Trickster rework. How many people in that focus group are in the top 5% of MMR? Are any of them in the top 5% of MMR, or is that demographic just not being represented at all?
That's because we consider MMR to be just a matchmaking number and not something to aim at, that was always the intention behind keeping the number hidden.
-
@kit_mason said:
They don't do this because they do not benefit from this.
Either they play exceedingly well and get accused of MMR tanking for the stream like content creators do already, or they play even slightly poorly and get harassed online for "not knowing what they're doing wrt game balance" as if playing the game well and balancing the game well require the exact same skillset.
This is so very true! Also, there are so many departments that come under the word "developer" - do we expect a project manager to be playing at high MMR, does it matter whether they do or not?
Understanding game mechanics is also a big part of understanding the game, having that ability does not correlate with player ability, same as design ability does not correlate with player ability.
There are many of us who do play the game on live, a few of us are also high MMR (we see the numbers!), does it make any difference to our actual jobs? Nope not in the slightest, because our understanding of the game does not change.
-
Thanks for sharing your builds - what addons do you like using as well, do they change with the build you run?
(and I'm with you on the isomnia, it sucks so much - hope you can get some rest!)

I'd say the survivor queue time is heavily impacted. I spent 20 minutes waiting for a match before I switched back to regular 1v4. Giving killer players the ability to join survivor queues has effectively doubled the amount of players waiting to get a game.
given the outage has been affecting the queues and the issues initially with the Play While You Wait feature, which we have since resolved, we're not able to assess queue times unfortunately. We won't be able to do that until the outage is resolved and people can play normally again. Survivor queues have always been quick on 2v8, way less than a minute for the majority of servers - we're talking seconds here, so it's unlikely to impact that heavily…having more survivors playing is actually better for the all around queue times, without impacting the survivor queues heavily.

Is there a possible ETA when queues and 2v8 will be fixed? Hopefully…today right? :)
my fingers are crossed that it's today yes, the team is still working on it
-
We will have some adjustments to Clown during the next PTB in early September, which is right around the corner now.
-
@MechWarrior3 said:
I am confused…Is the play while you wait broken or is it the outage? I am still waiting a while with my friend. We queued for killer. clicked play while you wait, but we are just sitting in the survivor lobby….still waiting?
It's very like the outage unfortunately, we're still working on a fix. There's been some headway but it's not fully resolved yet, the team will be continuing to work on it though.
-
This is likely in part due to the current outage, its affecting everything to do with matchmaking and queues I'm afraid.
-
The feature is currently in the testing phase, unfortunately due to the game outage, it's going to be too early to say whether it helps at all.
It's not going to be a solution to killer queue times, what we're hoping is that it encourages people to play the Survivor role whilst they wait for a killer match, as the basic problem is that so many people want to play killers in the mode.
We don't anticipate that the survivor queue time will be heavily impacted given the almost instant survivor queues that have been in previous iterations of 2v8. This is still just a test though, we will need to collect all the data on things like queue times to have more idea of what's happening when this is being used.
-
when all is back up and running…you might be pleasantly surprised 😃
-
The expected wait time is only for 2v8 - so for the killer side specifically in this case.
-
Many players do not want to have chat open, so enforcing it on people is not something we would consider - it was a request for off by default and turning it on as an option.
As a survivor it's very much within the players control if they wish to play a less focused team way, which is why there's many perks that support this level of play, it's to give options to players who wish to the play the game in that way, in the same way as there's many perks specifically aimed around teamwork.
Part of the reason we will not show other players perks in the lobby, is because we know we'd have lobby dodging issues which then causes further problems with match making overall, that's definitely not something we want to see. We saw this happening a lot when Prestige levels were shown in the lobby, which is why we chose to hide these until the endgame screen because whilst Prestige is no indication of skill level, that's not how it was being perceived, and that same thing can go for perk usage as well.
Players have the right to choose what perks they want to play with without being dodged or berated by other players.
-
Thanks for the confirmations peeps <3 that's much appreciated. Will close this thread now as the issue is resolved <3 thanks for all your help
-
Looking at the status update, it should now be all resolved.
-
it seems to be an issue here, I do suggest following that page for status updates.
-
What platform are you on?
-
Going to lock this here. You would have had a chance on Steam discussions to get your post/s reviewed and clearly our moderation staff believed that the post was either ban worthy in itself or was part of the escalation process.
And as a reminder, the rules for this forum are also very similar:
-
Am sharing the feedback on this with the team, but must admit whilst it's still early for Halloween - on our schedule its late, given we have to work on things many months in advance :(
-
@MechWarrior3 any video showing it by any chance, I've seen one but that looked more like latency being an issue. It would be good to be able to see.

I don't use it myself, but I have one friend who is a dedicated Built to Laster+Potential Energy main and I will say it feels nice to hear "want me to fill that back up for ya?"
I need a friend like that! I play with Jeff regularly and he's far too busy trolling to care about my flashies :(

Between the increase of BPs ppl had from the event and the ease of SPENDING them, wouldn't surprise me if its just because people have massive piles of items. Why go empty handed when you can at LEAST bring one of the hundreds or thousands of medkits?
I would guess this is the reason as well. I barely used to spend BP before, just enough to keep me under the cap when i was playing - now it's so much easier. And there's also been a lot of BP's on offer, what with login rewards, events, community challenges, it's been a lot and it's so quick to spend them now so people probably don't feel the need to hoard their items anymore.
Although I still do not have enough batteries for my flashie, but that just might be a me problem!

We are unable to help you on the forums regarding this, if you contact our Player Support team on the link above then they will be able to check your account, as everything that is unlocked is tracked account side.
