May be time to take a break from the sound of it?
I feel like the game is in a good place balance wise, far less survivor sided than it was but still tending toward survivor sided. A lot of the stuff that has changed needed to change.
Personally I feel I have not much to complain about as a majority solo surv player, I might have some awful matches but the fault is pretty much always my team mates being bad or me making bad plays.
-
I think it should be put back up to 5 seconds as it's effectively useless at this point unless you happen to get use next to a vault or pallet. Against Nurse or Blight it is an absolute joke and not at all a tunnelling deterrent.
No other changes, just increase stun to 5 seconds.
-
You have already won at 4 gens with a weak as piss killer like Legion, so how did this actually negatively affect your gameplay at the end of the day?
This is a dirty setup if survivors know how to use it for sure but 90% of survivors would go down at a God pallet lol.
-
I think some regions are worse than others as I just don't see constant tunnelling in my region (OCE).
But I do watch streamers in EU or NA and I notice hard tunnelling is a lot more common there and I feel bad for the newer players who aren't really equipped to deal with this and it ruins the game for them.
Even sadder is the fact that the players being tunnelled out are often weaker anyway and tunnelling them would never have been necessary to win in the first place
-
Billy is a bit overtuned imo and where I live (OCE region) Billy is EXTREMELY popular to the point it is getting extremely monotonous versing him.
I mostly only play solo when I play survivor and some Billy games I cant get any gens done as I am constantly unhooking and/or trading hooks. Billy has incredible mobility and lethality with very little punishment for mistakes now
-
It's the most efficient way to win matches as killer and if you're really bad it compensates for having to win mind games and pressure the map.
I have proven time and time again to myself that you don't need to tunnel and camp in public matches and if they made it so tunnelling was punished harder it would really only affect comp players and people who play like this in public lobbies.
Personally I don't care about comp players and I would like to see hard tunnelling punished as it really does create a miserable experience for the person being tunnelled out of the game.
-
Its the BPS/cake curse and I just don't use them unless I know the others in the lobby or its an event etc
It's the same reason I rarely run Deliverance... I am almost always the first found and hooked every time I run that damn perk
-
I don't think it really matters tbh and if a killer is that insecure they swap their builds based on what survivors are using they probably need all the help they can get anyway

"The reality is that you cannot make someone play a match they don't want to, that isn't to justify it as people want out for all kinds of stupid reasons including no obvious reason at all."
This is correct at a base level but not informed. I have played league of legends for 11 years now. You leave the game? First strike in that regard is two weeks suspension. You afk? You get two chances within months or you get bare minimum two weeks. You troll and via stats plus reports get suspended for you guessed it two weeks minimum. You can make someone screw themselves for not playing the game. They always have the choice to leave just like league but it's possible to make repeats suffer for their actions. This notion in the dbd community has gone to far and is flat out wrong.
Yeah except BHVR have to reach a balance between reasonable punishment and negatively impacting queues with excessively long bans.
If you remove people from the queue you either increase matchmaking wait times, or in the case of DBD what I suspect is that the quality of matchmaking goes down as it will try to get you in game rather than make you wait a long time for compatible MMR team mates.
I don't think excessively banning people will work, they will simply play something else instead and if you hand out long bans they will have no choice but to play something else. I do not think this is the way forward with the DBD community, it simply wont work and will have negative long term consequences imo
-
As already said, the best idea is to actually stop playing completely. I go many months where I pretty much stop playing DBD entirely.
However while playing I do things like run random perk builds, no perks or set myself a separate goal in matches besides the usual gameplay objectives (such as Wiretap/Blastmine blinding etc).
But sometimes the only real solution is just stop playing
-
It's at a good place for survivor, solo survivor is still a bit of a ######### show at times but with all the info survivors now have at their disposal, if that doesn't help dramatically improve things then nothing will (it does help to some extent).
I prefer it being less survivor sided than it was for many years until now
-
My call on this one is a definitive NO, I very much doubt it will be nerfed.
The reason? Because Windows makes the game a lot more welcoming for newer players who are already overwhelmed with the sheer number of perks, status effects and even maps to keep track of.
Anything that helps BHVR gain and hopefully retain new players (customers) is not something they will be keen to get rid of

Well i can't talk about you but in my games, i am seeing people are using it for stealth. They are rarely taking chases. So this perk is also bad for your teammates because if killer don't see you, they will chase someone else who already hooked.
This perk is selfish and i would not feel bad if BHVR just nerf it.
I get the stereotype exists for a reason, I can only speak for myself but I tend to run Distortion, Kindred, We'll Make it and Windows or some other perk to help with chases. I will take aggro away from team mates and will take hook states to prevent a death hook team mate going down.
A lot of the issues that come from Distortion come from team mates who would not take hook states either way and when they escape through hatch after not being found they brag how they never got hooked and still escaped lol.
I am fine with the perk (obviously), especially with so much aura reading in the game now I think it is a necessary evil
-

Because not everyone loves stealth, some of us is enjoying and asking chases which is the most fun part of the game.
I take chases, you are just going with the stereotype of everyone who runs Distortion hides. I play aggressively and Distortion takes away free information - it is a tool not a means to hide.
-
I would prefer less perks if anything and for both sides. I actually really enjoyed the Lights Out mode in part because it removed so much of the annoying BS like full gen regression builds or Background Player etc.
Oh and as for giving killers another perk? Oh hell no, absolute madness

It really helps your non distortion teammates so much when you have that cover for yourself to get them to safety. It buys such little time when you’re the only one using, but my god is that time so precious and helpful for your team when you’re being a non hiding helping teammate for saves and gens, and can pull up to take chase. Some of these builds we face are absolutely cracked when they’re also skilled killers using a high tier killer.
aggressive distortion is absolutely the way to go.
Honestly I am really surprised more people aren't running it too, I get that it gets a bad rap due to the stereotype but I cant count how many times this perk has clutched for me
-
I run Distortion all the time now because aura builds are so prevalent and the perk has literally won my solo team the game when the killer has not even realised I am there when they are running Nowhere To Hide, Awakened Awareness etc
I don't see aura builds as a crutch but you better believe I am going to counter it, especially when it is so meta lately.
Oh and I should mention, I am an aggressive player not a typical hiding in the corner Distortion stereotype. Though lets be real, not getting first chase with Lethal means you are more likely to survive than the person who gets hooked first
-
This is why I am mixed on DC penalties - at least if someone DC's you have a bot but there is an incentive to go next on first hook rather than just DC.
The reality is that you cannot make someone play a match they don't want to, that isn't to justify it as people want out for all kinds of stupid reasons including no obvious reason at all.
I don't know what to suggest as I don't see the first hook mechanic going anywhere soon and you cant possibly make everyone want to play every match. Sad but true
-
Decisive Strike is essentially useless unless you are in a fortunate location to drop a pallet/vault to make distance. Against a Nurse, Blight or Billy chances are you will get very little out of DS other than a brief inconvenience.
Increase stun time back to 5 seconds, simple as that. No other changes.

Exactly. Certain servers are smaller than others. And you often run into the same players over and over. People can hold petty grudges and vendettas. Anon mode has been a huge help against that. I believe hiding prestige levels would be a great help, too.
Agreed!

I have Meg at P100 and Ada is like P94 or something, but honest it's pointless. You don't get anything from all that work. Only thing you seem to get is killers that love to tunnel the P100 out of the game.
So after Ada is P100 i'll just start leveling everyone equally. It's disappointing that behaviour cannot give people "new legacy" or even a banner from their hard work.
Yep, again echoing the same basic issues I hear over and over.
@Katzengott said:
I don't have a main surv nor a P100. I have like 7 Mio BPs most of the time, kinda stopped spending them since prestige update. Even with the updated bloodweb, i still don't enjoy the process of leveling. It still takes too long, it's boring and i just wanna go next.
I don't have a main either, even if most of my hours in DBD have been survivor (probably 60/40). I guess I am weird as most people do have a main survivor if they are a surv main

Most of the time, when I go to the gates, I just get tea bagged. The thing that actually annoyed me is the people who walk like they're going to give you a hit, then they walk out and you hit the entity blocker. It's rude.
People need to just leave. The most egregious examples are those people who wait the entire 3 minutes to leave and spam loud noise notifications. People don't like being hit on the hook when they're dead, and tea bagging at the gates is the same thing.
Yeah that annoys me too and as a mostly solo queue survivor I actually want to sandbag them so the killer can get them when they do that
-
I will if it works out that way and I don't have to wait but these days many killers wont come to the gate as they probably expect you to bravely tea bag them at the exit anyway. A lot of times its just more polite to leave immediately

There's zero reason why it should bother you. But there's plenty of reasons why hiding prestige levels is a positive.
This is the same with going anon mode, I prefer this as my region (OCE) is rather small and we all know people in DBD can be a bit weird and have vendettas for no obvious reason, so clicking one option avoids almost all drama but it really seems to bother other people that I choose anon most of the time.
I hope they do add the hide option for P100's, surely it wouldn't be that hard to do? Just not a priority for BHVR I guess...
-
@Spare_Them_Mori_Me said:
I simply want to be able to toggle it on or off. Even for killers. If you dont want to see the P100's in lobby as killer, there should be a toggle. But some of us do, as killer and survivor. A toggle is literally a solution that pleases everyone.
I'd LOVE to hear counter opinions on a toggle. Not sure why this is something that should be forced, but I'm sure there are people like this. Come on out and play :)
I am fine with any options, it doesn't affect me since I obviously have not bothered even trying. But clearly a lot of people would like some kind of toggle and surely it isn't that hard to add but as stated previously, it likely is far from being high on BHVR's priority list

Yeah well that's one of my issues with he pip system is that yes, if you play a lot you can get up there even if you play "nice killer" though I would be interested in your strategies when playing nice to get to Iri 1. The few months that I do get extra time to play and do a get higher in the ranks because personally I find I just can't seem to pip unless I actually start killing.
Honestly I don't really have a strategy as such, I am a survivor main by hours played and I prefer survivor. I do play Nurse for some of those matches too which is a guaranteed win of course.
But my main killer is usually Myers and I do enjoy a bit of Artist and sniping with Pyramid Head. I feel I am actually pretty terrible and P Head too but the average survivor is so low skill I often cant believe how easily I win some.
Don't get me wrong though, I do get absolutely stomped just like anyone else but most matches are a win as killer
-
It could be my region etc but honestly I don't see that much tunnelling, sure there is some but the vast majority of matches are actually civil. I used to blow up the problem in my own mind but when I started to actually pay attention I realised it wasn't as bad as I was making it out to be.
I still despise tunnelling in public matches though, don't get me wrong.
Matchmaking is all over the place but maybe this is a controversial take - I don't actually mind. I am pretty much exclusively a solo queue player and I do so because I love the chaos. I cant stand completely coordinated and efficient play every time, it's boring and predictable and I far prefer the random chaos that comes from solo queue and quite frankly, just plain poor matchmaking

Could it possibly be because they like that Survivor? Gasp, how dare they!!!!
you shouldn't have a guaranteed worse experience because you decided to prestige your characters. I've put literally hundreds of millions of bloodpoints into my Killers, but you wouldn't know it because I don't just play a single one.
I am the same with survivors - I don't really have a 'main' anyway so I spread points around.
It is an irony that people love their main survivor so much they P100 them and end up not playing them due to the P100 curse. Being able to conceal prestige is obviously an easy fix and if its visible post game you still get the flex, if you that matter to you I guess

Yes you can, about 85/90% of my killer games I play nice and just aim to hook everyone twice.
I think one of the issues comes to rank reset. I don't play as much these days but at the end of the month I'm usually high Silver or Gold for survivor but with killer I'm lucky if I get past Bronze or low Silver. So I could see if people want to get to Iri they might abandon this.
I tend to play DBD obsessively until I burn out then I don't touch it for months then repeat the cycle. So I always get Iri 1 for both fairly fast and I do it as killer entirely without tunnelling and camping.
Now people can say I must be low MMR etc but then like most killers I win the vast majority of my games so that must impact my MMR to some extent.
In competitive play? Sure, you cannot play nice at all. But in public lobbies I will always maintain you do not have to tunnel or camp to win the vast majority of your matches (camping last hook is perfectly reasonable and excepted though imo).

I prestiged Ace to p100, worst mistake of my life. Any P100 survivor will tell you this: If you join a lobby with a P100 (even just one, problem gets exponentially worse with other high prestige players), you will get many killers dodging, which not only means it will take longer for you to actually play the game, but because of how horrendous the matchmaking system is with backfill, it will likely result in a killer mismatch that is either way too good for your lobby, or (more often) way too bad. This creates skewed matches that aren't really fun for either side and are always just a stomp. In addition to that, you will also see "special treatment" from some killers that notice your prestige, and will commonly choose to never chase you, or rarely focus exclusively on you. It is very rare to get normal actually fun games while playing a P100.
I have never seen a single good counterargument for why we shouldn't be hiding survivor prestige from the killer in the pregame lobby. Please just do it already BHVR...
Thanks for this and yeah this is the experience of a lot of P100 friends who no longer play their main because of the P100 curse

I'm not interested in prestiges on either side other than P3 for perks, and I already have all survivors/killers at 3 so I couldn't care less.
- They offer nothing, other than a number.
- Ppl tend to think high P = Skill and I've seen ppl mocking high P during endgame chat for not performing as their number would suggest.
- If you are survivor, you're gonna be lobby dodged as crazy and in some instances, there are killers that feel the urge to tunnel this person to prove something I guess lol.
I already have all perks on all killers and survivors so naturally I already am past P3 on most of them too but yeah, I am not investing all my points into one character but I am getting all to +10 prestige rather than a single P100
-
Yeah I find slugging for 4k really irritating so I would like an option like this or just remove the hatch completely. Though the latter will never happen so I would like to be able to concede and move on to the next match rather than potentially spend 4 minutes on the ground stuck in a match that is over.
The hatch mechanic is the underlying problem though... but I will make it clear when I play killer I never slug for the 4k unless they were very toxic and I feel I don't want anyone to get out (very rare).
I don't really blame the killer but at times I do think to myself 'do you have nothing better to do pal?' when they waste so much of their and my time looking for that last person
-
Actually I was just watching his animations in the lobby the other day and thinking how much of an amazing job they did of that.
OP I tend to agree, Pinhead looks amazing... I say that as someone who really does not enjoy playing against him very much as I find the chains irritating.
But yeah he looks fantastic

Im fine with it normally I just think its unfair to start out with full stacks of it. I legit use 1 aura perk and its nowhere to hide, so I could need to kick a gen 4 times to get rid of there stacks, honestly it should start at 1 stack then you earn stacks in chase, I think it would be a LOT more fair that way
I would be fine with starting with one stack at the very least.
I should mention, I would recommend this perk to solo survivors who struggle to escape/pip as not getting first chase generally means you aren't getting first hook either so it increases your chance to make it to endgame and you'll get your gen progress points out of the way early
Edit: On the other hand, do consider that 90% of the people running Distortion do so for a reason - they don't want to be found because they are bad in chase. So while you may not get aura value, good game sense can help a lot and once you find them it is usually an easy chase.

Sad things often happen. However, you may have experienced something that is not the case. You smiled bitterly without getting angry, right? ``Let's move on, next'' and that's it. We always are, don't really care.
Honestly nah I don't really care.... I just maybe mutter 'what in the actual bros' to myself then go to the next game. It is what it is in solo queue
-
Distortion is a top tier perk, it just has a bad rap because immersed survivors use it to be even more immersed and this is very annoying when you play killer. Plus these survivors will often not take hook states or any pressure from the killer so their team mates die while they get hatch with zero hooks.
I use Distortion a lot but I play aggressively and am pretty decent in chases but I have had abuse end game for running that perk alone. Despite me being the one with the most saves max chase and highest points!
In the age of aura perks Discordance can be clutch in helping you pressure a gen they don't even know you are at, healing and the other day I got us all out because the Killer had Awakened and didn't realise I was right beside the hook so by the time they realised I insta-saved we all got out.
I hope people don't start using Distortion all the time though, as I want it to be slept on as its a great perk

I haven't died on first hook in a dog's age....knock on wood >_>;
No it doesn't happen often but it actually happened to me yesterday lol. I cant be low MMR as I have a lot of hours in DBD and rank 1 surv in a few days if I play (not that rank means much) so I must be doing something right.
So the fact I get team mates who still let me die on first hook when I have Kindred really is quite mind blowing
-
@TheFragile said:
Not interested. I have no idea how long it would take to get to 100, I'm sure it's no easy ride. Personally for me it's a waste of time and BP. But i understand everyone plays differently, and If you want a P100, more power to you
Google seems to think it is about 500 hours, which from the experience of others I would say that is more or less right.
I feel if you don't have all perks fully unlocked on all killers and all survivors there is not much point. Even then...
-
Yeah it generally is easier as far as information goes but the game was a LOT more survivor sided years back, so it has kinda been balanced out... at least as much as DBD can be balanced out.
That being said, I almost always run Kindred as I solo queue most of the time and I still die on first hook every so often even with Kindred.

Me personally, I don't understand it. Maybe years into it your main is completely maxed out, idk 🤷🏼♀️ My highest one is my Nea who sits at 6 lol. I've been playing on and off since the game started though.
I only really try to prestige when there's items or perks I need up mostly. But I do try to get everyone at least to 3 so the perks are shared at the highest level.
If you only play every so often rather than live on the game, then it makes more sense to get all perks unlocked on all survivors and killers (so P3 them all) than waste all your points on one character. I have seen relatively new players with P100 characters which is just crazy to me personally. Though each to their own of course.

You actually can play nice, I do it all the time. Sure you are going to lose some matches but you will win far more than you lose if you're an experienced player. I never tunnel and never camp unless they are overtly toxic and even then I generally prefer to win playing with honour
Remember, most of the DBD player base are low skill/casual survivors and you will get matched with them no matter your assumed MMR (in my experience).
Playing nice is a choice
-
Thing is, RNG is such a big factor in DBD and when skill levels are matched it really can go either way. Of course one stupid mistake can cost a team the entire game, same for killer for that matter. To state the bleeding obvious lol

And there is also the case where you sind by the exit gates and suddenly lose a stack and just know that the jig is up and a Bloodwarden is coming and thus just book it in time.
Yep another case of the useful information from Distortion.
-
Distortion.
Now before your eyes roll and you instantly judge me as being an immersed survivor who also enjoys leaving my team mates on hook to get hatch, I am pretty decent at looping and I play aggressively and I will sacrifice myself to unhook a team mate and let them get out.
However with all the aura perks in the game Distortion can allow you to hide for an unhook, pressure an essential gen and be ready for a flashy/flashbang save along and heal without being detected. I cant tell you how valuable this is as a solo queue only player!
However one caveat - if you're using Distortion simply to hide to avoid chases, you're doing it wrong and not getting the true power from the perk. I actually hope people keep sleeping on it as I don't want it nerfed

I must be a very rare person because Artist is top 5 favorite killers to go against to me, especially when the engagement involves longer ranges shots. Those kinds of plays make me feel like holding W against her isn’t as boring as other killers.
That is fair enough but yeah I think you are probably a minority there as most survivors do not enjoy anti-loop hold W counter style killers.
-
@GannTM said:
Artist. Way more fun than people think.
I really enjoy playing Artist but I do not find her very fun to play against which makes me not want to play her as I prefer everyone to have fun in matches and survivors in general don't seem to enjoy her.
Knight is more fun to play than I would like to admit openly lol... but same thing, very unfun to play against and people clearly do not have a good time.
But yeah, I do like playing Artist
-
Freddy, Bubba, Pig and Trapper
Yeah they are all weaker so I get why people don't play them that much, with maybe Bubba being less uncommon than the others now.
I think they are more fun as their game play involves good old fashioned looping which is the game play I enjoy the most as survivor
