Your build covers almost all the bases - chase, exhaustion, healing. Just missing a gen perk. 7.5/10.

My build this week is a bit of an info one:

    Empathy/Overcome/Alert/Deja Vu

I haven't played much this week and I haven't tracked what I have played, so I'm guesstimating approx 30% escape. I didn't escape at all a few days ago but have escaped 3 times today. So basing it on those results.

I am not big on Alert or Deja Vu as I feel killer location will be game sense to some extent and I always am the one pushing out unsafe/mid gens to break any 3 gen early. So I would rate 6/10 as I do think Empathy can have some value in solo queue

My solo queue build: Kindred, We'll Make It, Balanced Landing, Unbreakable

Escape rate: 4 of 10 at best (Edit: it really depends on my luck as far as random team mates go).

  • As a survivor main this map still feels very survivor sided to be honest

  • Been saying this for years and yet again I have to agree with this.

I am tired of the toxic 'comp' Nurses/Blights in my region who like to slug and bleed everyone out for the full 4 minutes, only to pick one of us up at the last second just to waste a bit more time.

I also don't want to have to run Unbreakable every match (which I was doing) because someone wants to slug for the 4k while my team mate hides while I have to bleed out for 4 mins.

The hatch is the underlying issue here and since they will never remove the hatch mechanic, I would like to be able to concede so I don't have to waste 4 minutes of my time bleeding out.

  • I had a streamer and his SWF as my team mates and even though I am an aggressive player I happened to be running Distortion in my build. One was being chased and I got into the locker on the loop with Head On and Flashbang (my fav combo) to help in chase but instead he sandbagged me by opening the locker so both of us died.

I asked why he did it post game and I got a pile of abuse as his dead team mates told him I was running Distortion, as if these people think they have the right to dictate to others what they run or not. I have 4k hours in DBD and I love chases so it isn't like I was hiding all game either.

I am pretty much exclusively a solo queue player (I love the chaos) and these days if I load into a lobby that is obviously a SWF, I will dodge that lobby. As they often will completely throw the game for altruism, they will attempt to bully the 'random' (me) with sandbagging etc and if they have flashlights you just know they will be chasing the killer around all game trying to get saves.

As a solo I recommend lobby dodging SWF's

  • Well you did is the short answer, if your game crashed or your internet went down the game will see it as a DC.

Or as above, if you were AFK an entire match then it will treat that the same as you DCing and you will get a penalty. As I myself found out by accident in only the last few days...

Turrets and coordination. Alien has one of the best chase powers in the game so you rely on macro more then your looping skills. Crucial positions where rotations are most likely during a chase should have 2 turrets side by side, Pre droping is arguably the best way to deal with the tail, so play it safe.

    @C3Tooth said:

Its mostly how you place turret, try to make Alien cant huge the walls. Thats when survivors get extra distance. You suppose to leave Gen for 1 third Gen time to setup turret, or teammate will be downed quick. As survivor, only hope teammates setup turret for you.

    @E5150 said:

Spread the turrets, don't leave them near generators or control stations. It's very easy to come out of the hole, m1 it and start the chase. If Xeno encounters one during the chase, it must choose between you or the turret, and it will almost always go for the turret (or at least take a very awkward path), giving you some distance.

Try to fake the pallet/window as much as you can. Playing against Xeno is like playing against a faster, short range Huntress. If you're locked in animation, you're dead.

    Great thanks everyone :)

The tail basically cannot be reaction dodged, so it is mostly about pre dropping and using the turrets... I think Hens made a shorts video or something about it? Otherwise maybe just ask some comp players/streamers what to do.

Yeah I kinda figured that, I have tried the killer against bots and to be fair the tail is quite hard at first but it seems once you get it down it is very hard to avoid in some scenarios. I will check out Hens' video

  • The killer streaks are absurd and show just how OP these killers are when played in a sweaty way. I say this as a former Nurse main who reached the conclusion she is still broken and always will be without a complete redesign of her power.

I hate win streaks, they are toxic for the game and the overall community and they promote the most unpleasant tactics in the game.

  • If you don't look behind you then you're gonna have a rough time, also if you get matched with survivors who don't look behind them you're going to have a rough time.

I feel he is actually okay but I do think the AOE on his attack is a bit generous when it can hit you through walls without the precision prediction of say Pyramid Head or even Nurse.

  • Zoning killer, very boring to play against. Denies you pretty much all of the fun mind games and looping that makes playing survivor fun and addictive.

Don't get me wrong, I actually quite like playing Knight and I think he is actually a cool character, he just is not very fun to play against.

As for Oni and Mad Grit I faced that yesterday and it was absolutely insane, I am surprised they haven't kill switched it yet. They were very much abusing this but ultimately they let us all go so I didn't bother reporting as it wasn't like they were using it to gain advantage.

  • I really do think it is a killer perk more than a survivor perk and your time would be much better spend doing an actual generator that matters such as an unsafe/mid gen.

I do like that BHVR is trying something different and I guess as a SWF you will be more efficient than solo but as a solo queue player I feel like my team mate is just throwing the match when I see them doing this

  • I think that is a good idea as base game to start with but I do think it is going to take more to discourage tunnelling off hook. Which I hope we see in the near future...

  • I have to add, I think the worst Wraith is the 'hit and run' Sloppy Butcher Wraith.

One of the most tedious things to go against imo

If a survivor down twice before a Gen done, thats a hint that survivor's skill is lower than killer, and its not necessary for killer to tunnel to able to win.

Killers who tunnel against lower skill teams, are also those that complain about higher skill teams that finish 3-4 Gens before the first hook. You dont have empathy against weaker team, then dont ask for empathy from the stronger one.

    Yeah I agree!

  • I do think BHVR will need to start looking at solutions for tunnelling as it is getting a bit stupid now.

It is pretty much an easy win for anyone who will resort to this, as a 3v1 at 5 gens is pretty much unwinnable for survivors so you may as well just move on to the next match... which further rewards tunnelling.

I have empathy for others so I cant bring myself to play like this but there are plenty who have no empathy whatsoever and I do feel it is ruining the game experience for newer players who are easy targets for those who will resort to tunnelling at 5 gens

  • Killer 100%

Solo survivor can be frustrating and killers have the ability to make matches very unpleasant if they wish to play in an unpleasant way.

But at least as survivor I can zone out on a gen, have a laugh and just mess around with other survivors. But killer you get no breaks and its all on you

Have you tried playing the killer? The AoE is definitely not as generous as you think it is.

Only against bots tbh... and while it can feel like that even against bots I do think the fact the AOE can hit you through walls with a spray and pray attack style is a bit much

  • @Reinami said:

One of the suggestions around that is to actually reverse the power. Make it so when you DON'T look at the unknown the weakness go down, but when you DO it stops (or goes up). Would nerf the killer against low tier survivors, but buff against high tier survivors.

Yeah I saw Scott Jund talking about that in a recent video.

Mixed feelings on that tbh as I do agree in theory but I think looking behind you is an ability you should master very early in DBD. I am more concerned with the generous AOE personally

It's really not. You've simply decided that if someone does this, you don't have to be nice and are free to be as toxic as you want to be.

Instead of seeing someone who wants to play their favourite survivor and is sick of getting dodged for it, you see someone who is toxic and deserving of mistreatment. Maybe if you gave the other person the benefit of the doubt, instead of just assuming the worst of their intentions, you wouldn't end up feeling pissed off.

Nope, this is just the same gaslighting as comments like 'why you getting mad at me repeatedly pressing a (CTRL) key bro?'

Or 'it was just a friendly teabag, wasn't meant as BM' when it clearly was.

In my 4k hours since Jan 2019 I have played a lot of killer even if I am a survivor main myself and I have versed many a 6 second switching lobby and not one of them was a pleasant experience.

If you start off our initially neutral interaction with deception/BM, then YOU have set the tone of our future interactions and you cannot complain about that. You already destroyed any benefit of the doubt we started out with

Ah, I see what you're referring too. Well, it wasn't used to insult you, but to prove my point. Apologies regardless.

I think I'll just come out and say in the 4k hours I've played, I've just never heard of switching like that as BMing. I legit have never come across it nor has it come up in conversation. I really felt this was just made up BS lol. If this is not the case and this IS a thing, well damn. Learn something new erry'day.

    Apologies and ty @MaTtRoSiTy

Okay I appreciate your comment and no worries in that case.

I thought it was pretty common knowledge that the quick/6 second switch was BM but that could just be my misconception here.

But thanks again for acknowledging the misunderstanding here

  • @Nazzzak said:

It's a noob trap perk designed to help the killer. Can't convince me otherwise. I'm glad I've so far avoided having team mates use it, even those doing Sable's adept haven't bothered using it.

Totally agree with this, I tried it a couple of times just for the novelty and quickly realised I would have been far better off doing important gens

  • @CrypticGirl said:

I think I've done it once, maybe more. The last notable example I can remember is when a Trickster stood in my face. I unhooked myself, and he hit me as soon as my feet touched the ground, eliminating my endurance. And then he tunneled from there.

So the anti-facecamp got me nowhere, and I don't plan to unhook myself with it again...

Trickster is a nasty camper/tunneller due to his ability to spam knives. Pretty much impossible to get a save from a hard camping Trickster

  • I am another who actually doesn't like playing against Wesker, I think that mainly comes from the fact I got him just about every match or every second match for months after he came out to the point I started to dread hearing his music as a match began.

I think the thing with Wraiths is they are a free killer, quite strong and relatively simple and fun to play. So they appeal to a lot of the newer players who can sometimes have a tendency to resort to more desperate tactics than more skilled/experienced players. Same with Huntress for me, I get a lot of them who proxy and hard tunnel and they often have fairly low hours in game.

  • Yes though not often, I have had it work several times.

The other day I had a Bubba who must have caught a time machine from 2020 as he tried to Insidious basement camp me but he had two issues:

    1) I always run Kindred

    2) The self unhook mechanic

He didn't even realise I had unhooked myself for long enough for me to have made a lot of distance and he ultimately lost the match lmao

  • @[Deleted User] said:

You quick switched, easy answer. That is THE sign for: I do not know sportmanship, i am a toxic player.

    It really is that simple.

I am the least sweaty tunnelling/camping killer imaginable but for some reason the quick/6 second switch really pisses me off

  • The LAST thing Spirit needs is a buff, she is fine where she is and a skilled Spirit player is already very hard to deal with for a public lobby of random survivors or even all but the most competent SWF's (most aren't).

  • I disagree, I just think the AOE from his spray attack is a bit BS how it can hit you through walls especially and the problem that countering his power involves looking behind you - something less skilled players don't do very often so it makes him a bit of a noob stomper.

  • As already said, look at him in chase which you would be doing anyway if you are an experienced survivor. Scott Jund actually brought up a good point that this killer stomps noobs more as they tend not to look behind them a lot more.

Dodge spray is obvious and then you get some grace with his cooldown but I will acknowledge the AOE on his spray is very generous and hits you through walls. I think this does need some tweaking as it can feel a bit unfair at times imo

  • Yes I would be down with that so long as they are prevented from stacking full 4 gen control builds.

However ultimately I don't think this is the ideal solution, doing gens is the most boring part of DBD and I would prefer to see survivors have another objective and somehow more emphasis on chases

  • Repeating myself here but yep I have been asking this for years... plus situations where killers intentionally slug everyone and bleed them out (have a Nurse that does that here EVERY match) you should be able to concede the match rather than have your time wasted bleeding out.

  • @Snowbawlzzz said:

Tunneling is a common comeback tactic and taking it away just makes more games into one-sided stomps. Plus "tunneling" isn't a perk, it's target choice and to nerf "tunneling" just means taking free will away from the killer.

It isn't being used as a comeback tactic though, the tunnelling I see is at 5 gens and more often than not if the killer manages to get an easy down, they perceive that survivor as easy prey and tunnel them out of that game.

It is a choice for sure, that much I agree with and you can choose NOT to tunnel and I know this is the case because I do exactly that.

I still win the vast majority of my killer games (probably 90%) by 12 hooking, so I have no issue with base anti tunnel in the game, as I see it ruin matches time and time again for baby survivors especially.

This is not good business for BHVR as it drives new players away when the continually have a bad experience and they never get to play the game as they are tunnelled out of every match.

  • The anti camping measure in game now works fairly well, I have unhooked myself a few times due to a killer trying to proxy me so I think that is fine.

As for anti tunnel, well I would like to see more done about this as it is becoming a bit of an issue spoiling enjoyment for newer players, as they are often the weak link and easy target for tunnelling out of the game.

The main people I say making big noises about anti tunnelling measures being base is the comp scene but quite frankly I do not care what a tiny minority of the player base doesn't want as this issue affects the most common DBD player - the mid/low skill casual survivor

  • My feedback is the spray or "UVX" has a AOE that can feel a bit unfair at times.

It has the ability to hit you through walls which while I accept this with a killer such as say Pyramid Head where there is at least some precision and prediction required, the very generous feeling AOE makes it feel very spray and pray and it doesn't feel very good getting downed by this.

  • @OnryosTapeRentals said:

Slugging is not a bannable offence, at least not on its own.

If, say, a person is intentionally targeting the same people repeatedly across matches to ruin their experience then it becomes bannable. Or if they're blatantly going into matches saying stuff like “I’m going to grief/troll/harass these people” then a report would probably be warranted.

But opting to bleed survivors out as your primary method of killing isn’t bannable. Boring, yes. But bannable, no.

Thanks, I have filled out a report.

I know slugging is not an offence but I am pretty sure when you create a Twitch channel to show yourself intentionally griefing players for no other reason than to ruin their fun, that would be reportable.

Will see what happens I guess but I do think people who play a game with the express intention of making the game miserable for others should not be able to play that game.

  • I do agree with the above that it is more for killers than survivors, though it does give survivors something else to do and I do applaud BHVR for at least trying to add different things to the game.

But if there is little point in doing it or it is detrimental survivors aren't stupid and will simply not bother doing it.

I honestly feel like my team mates are sabotaging our chances when I see them start an invocation in the basement and I feel like that time could be better spent hammering out important gens to prevent a 3 gen

  • The biggest issue I have with him is the AOE his spray attack has and the fact it can hit you through walls with that AOE which feels very unfair.

Not a huge fan of the killer overall but it is early days I guess... but I haven't seen a Bubba for weeks now and I cant help long for some good old fashioned looping

  • Yeah thanks all for confirming, I had no idea it was introduced so it was a bit of a what the hell is going on moment lol

Great though as I have not seen the AFK bot farming killers for long time and that would explain why!

  • My biggest complaint is actually killers and I am generally one of the most killer sided survivor mains in existence.

But lately I feel the tunnelling and proxying to tunnel is beyond a joke, killers bring the sweatiest and most unfun builds and play in the most unfun ways imaginable.

I would like to play killer myself just so others can enjoy some chilled out fun matches... but that just gets you BM and teabagged at the exit. So really don't know what to do here

  • @AmpersandUnderscore said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3675172#Comment_3675172

    No.

We already have tons of proof that tunneling is the root cause here, not a reaction to anything.

When gen kick meta dragged out games for 30+ minutes killers tunneled more.

When survivors stop doing normal gameplay to throw snowballs during an event killers tunnel more.

When the devs delete gen rushing entirely during an LTM and give the killer free stealth, killers tunnel more.

Tunneling is base kit for killers, and only takes exactly one player to decide to play that way. The only response survivors have is to have high levels of coordination and gen rush, and neither of those is base kit in this game. It requires lots of perks, items, and most often voice comms.

If you want to play that way, that's your choice, but you aren't 'reacting' to anything. Tunneling is the cause here, not the effect.

100% tunnelling is the cause here and it is 100% a conscious choice by the player to play like that.

A gen doesn't even have to have popped these days and some will hard tunnel out a player.

I don't even know how this is fun personally as the everyone else just wants to go next and they don't even get a real match as they took the cheap easy way out and everyone just decides to go next. I don't know how someone can think they actually won by doing this?

Crazy thing is, the killers I verse who play for max hooks almost always win anyway.

  • Never. But I was terrified and hid at the slightest hint of the terror radius when I was new at the game lol. It was fun though and I wish I could get that feeling back in some ways

  • @shalo said:

Yes, about the middle of last year that was added. If you're AFK for the entire match it counts as a DC, Survivors and Killers.

Ah thank you, I did not realise that.

Well I deserved it as I was AFK but first time that has happened to me

  • Stop playing, simple as that.

If you are getting angry and bent out of shape over a game it is time to stop playing and take a break.

  • @stonedcandle said:

Just sayin', if killers were oh so 'overpowered' the majority of people playing the game would be playing killer.

    *checks Twitch*

Yep, nope it's majority survivors. The arguably easier role in the game.

As a survivor main I would disagree.

I think killer is far easier but a million times more stressful - it's the main reason I play more survivor than killer.

I win almost every killer match but the stress just isn't worth it for me.

    Killer = easier but stressful

Survivor = much more relaxed but far harder to get really good at

  • Killers aren't OP but I do think there needs to be changes that prevent stacking 4x slowdowns and punishing of hard tunnelling survivors out of the game.

The game extremely survivor sided for years and now it is more balanced even if still slightly survivor sided... providing the survivors have some skill and aren't allergic to gens.

  • I just got basement proxied and tunnelled out of the game... again and while that is frustrating enough another thing that adds to it is that only one team mate had been hooked before me but the unhookers immediately abandon you or hide so even if the killer wasn't intending to tunnel (this one clearly was) I am the only target they can find.

If you have not had any hook states survivors, for the love of God try to take aggro off your team mates. If you lose someone at 4-5 gens you probably aren't getting out.

The tunnelling is really bad at present but team mates don't help the situation either

  • Rarely.

In fact I will sacrifice myself for my team mate to get out and I will go for the unhook even if I know it will be a trade.

Exceptions being if I am going for adept or I found a purple flashy lol... then sorry bud, you ded

  • Best idea is just assume every lobby is a 4 man SWF but remember that 90% of survivors are terrible at the game and being in a SWF still wont carry them

  • I just played a match where there was a baby Leon, now as killer I personally would leave him as he is probably going to hide at the sound of my TR and not present me with issues later on. But of course the killer bravely targeted this poor noob with a heavy proxy and tunnel out of the game.

This is a very bad experience for newer players as they don't even get to feel like they played a match and I do think it is getting to the point where BHVR need to do something.

I had previously said I didn't see that much tunnelling but honestly now it feels that is actually gets worse by the day

I mean i'd rather a toxic SM instead of a toxic nurse or blight tbh. And again unwillingness to learn her power is what is leading to her high kill rate which is leading to a lot of the hatred against her as people see her as too strong when she really isn't

Honestly I will take a toxic Nurse or Blight any time, at least there is the possibility of some fun chases (without hindered effects) and it will be over quick if they are really good.

I have had probably one single fun SM match since she was released but I have had a lot of fun matches vs Nurse or Blight

1 … 21 22 23 24 25 … 49
