  • You know you could yah know… not tunnel?

I never got hit with old DS and I never get hit with current DS because I never tunnel, so its a wasted perk slot for the survivor versing me

If killer can tunnel someone out at 5 gens I say he is skilled as that would mean under 20s chases. Sure that would mean the killer would win with any tactics so it's not neccessary.

Of course it is not necessary but they also stack 3/4 gen perks on top of that

  • I suspect BHVR would be very hesitant to nerf this perk, at least for as long as they can avoid doing so.

The reason being it is makes the game far more accessible to new players as well as being helpful for experienced players to see where they should run to (or not) next.

  • I didn't really see Adren as a problem but I guess BHVR do, I don't use it anyway so meh I don't care personally. Still literally insta heals you/picks you up and still gives you a speed burst that will be most unwelcome for a killer chasing you.

I am a survivor main and I don't understand why survivors are crying about this and claiming the perk is broken now, it is still very strong.

The only people who dont agree are blind even hens 'EvErYoNeS GoInG To PlAy BlIgHt AnD NuRsE" good let them try even easier games.

Totally agree, I was a Nurse main myself btw

The solution is simple - do not tunnel. It isn't that hard to do and if I can win almost every killer game (NOT on Nurse either) without tunnelling at all then anyone can. I am starting to have to run a full anti tunnel build when I play NA servers, so I can punish the tunnel with OTR, take down and punish that with DS to reset deep wound then punish that with DH.

It all could be avoided by the killer if they simply chose to NOT tunnel me.

  • I agreed with Scott Jund on this one, if anyone else saw his vid…

  • I have been doing this for years.

I will get to P1 so I get my million and then I will often just let everyone go except if they piss me off in the match.

Cute and dopey survivors always get let go, I try to spread positivity and good vibes as life in the fog can be very negative and sweaty at times. It feels really good to have wholesome interactions in a game that can be incredibly toxic and when you don't care about 'winning' matches have a different vibe.

During this event I have been letting everyone go every match and still getting a pile of points. I do stupid stuff like play Skull Merchant and set her drones in stupid locations like the corner of maps or areas with nothing in it lol. The confusion from some survivors is pretty funny ngl

  • I have no interest in P100 on anything, I want to get every character to at least P10 as I already have all perks fully unlocked on everything.

It may be a bit different for killers but many P100 friends have regretted going P100 as they either get tunnelled or dodged in the lobby and have to resort to tactics like 6 second switching to their P100. The P100 curse is real and I have no interest in joining that group

I don't think either perk is dead. You're overreacting.

    This.

  • Depends, often it gives me a chance to sip my coffee or take a bite of food etc but if the killer starts trying to take me to hooks I don't want to be on then I will start to struggle

If so, you must have experienced it, but was the COB Eruption era better for you? I don't want to go back. There is much more leeway compared to those days, and even if it gets popped, the return value of gen is only 1/4 second. No problem at all.

That is not relevant though, that was very bad and this is bad too. Bringing up previous bad thing in the game (the Eruption kick meta was truly miserable) does not justify current bad garbage existing in the game today.

If you can't counter it, I don't think you'll even be able to reach the 40% escape rate that official statistics say. In reality, many survivors are coping fairly well. And then they run away or die.

However, I think it would be pitiful if your area was overflowing with suicides and DC people. I can't play a proper game because of my friends who are holding me back.

I have over 4k hours in this game, I know how to play.

I cannot un-regress gens or counter stacked gen builds, there is no counter unless you know something I don't.

  • @xltechno said:

But to that extent, killers cannot benefit from outside benefits. And since it's obvious to survivors, there's no need to be wary of anything else. And since both pop and pain depend on hooks, the chasing survivor will look at the HUD and think, ``Oh, if I buy a little more time, that gen will be completed, so let's use this palette liberally and down without using the next pallet. ” and so on, you can act in a planned manner. And the other survivors just need to complete the gen as quickly as possible so as not to waste the efforts of the chased survivor. This is that kind of game.

Hooks are inevitable in game, a killer will down any survivors and even if they chase too long they will use resources (pallets) making the next chase far faster.

The problem is when you stack full gen builds the regression becomes overwhelming for your average lobby of solos to deal with. It is one thing to have regression and I get the need but what we see now is completely absurd overkill. There is no adaptation to that, you cant physically un-regress the time lost on gens - there is no 'outplay' to this.

As for me, what's wrong with giving our all to each other? That's just what I think, so I think meritocracy is fine. If you want a handicap match, there should be a more suitable game, and you shouldn't ask DBD for that. After all, this is a game where a survivor is about to escape or be killed by a killer, right?

I honestly don't understand what your argument even is at this point?

There is not meritocracy in stacking full gen control builds, you aren't winning based on merit, you are winning based on pure attrition as you wear down your opponent by having them use up resources (pallets) by constantly regressing their progress with perks - not skill - perks.

There is no merit in that.

  • @xltechno said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3686663#Comment_3686663

Yes, what is at fault is poor devs by not managing MMR properly. Please hate them.

Well it's also allowing stacking of multiple gen control perks that is the bigger issue here. I can tolerate messy matchmaking but when a killer can get as many uses from Pop as they can get hooks, combined with 3 other gen perks, matches can feel hopeless from the start.

That should never happen just because someone stacks multiple gen perks

  • Other than the TOS which is enforceable, obviously something like this would not work.

I don't know if we can even have a reasonable discussion if you compare tunnelling to "gen rushing, 360s and juking"

In particular the tunnelling I see is anything but healthy for the game, it is usually targeted towards the newer players who make easy targets and it gives them a miserable experience that almost guarantees they will not continue playing the game long term.

As already mentioned, problems on both sides need to be addressed by gameplay/mechanic changes.

  • It really is getting tedious I agree, I was just in a match trying to do a gen and matchmaking is so scuffed I am matched with what are obviously inexperienced survivors who go down repeatedly within seconds.

I always try to do the unsafe/mid gens first and having that gen regressed multiple times with Pain Res, then being pushed off with Grim and then Pop... I lose the motivation to persevere in a match in all honesty.

  • Man... the more Bubbas in circulation the better!

  • I just remembered old WGLF too, I forgot how great that was for survivor with tokens just like a survivor BBQ.

I never see that perk anymore as it used to be totally worth running, now it's just... meh. Much like BBQ

Bringing streamers or event offerings isn’t some benevolent act. It’s also not selfish or vindictive to not bring them. All the people bemoaning other players about what addons they do or don’t bring… you are part of “toxic” community problem. Let it go already and just play the game.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3685985#Comment_3685985

To me that’s not fun. When there is no threat from the killer dbd is nothing but a dull farm fest. If I don’t have to flee for my life and try to survive what is the point of playing survivor. That’s the whole concept of survivor in dbd.

The idea that “playing nice” and letting everyone go is some sort of service to the other side needs to change.

This is one downside of events, they are breeding grounds for some of the most tedious types of dbd player, namely the bad sport whom is always angry they didn’t get max BP’s and want to take it out on everyone and the misguided quasi benevolent do-gooder who panders namely to the bad sports.

I don't like outright farming either but what I am talking about is offering a BPS so everyone benefits, only to have a killer play like they are competing for a cash prize in a tournament and tunnelling/camping at 5 gens and generally playing like an absolute ass.

I don't want to farm either, I want chases and I do believe there is a middle ground - which I do myself when I play killer. I try to spread hooks and engage in chases as that is what I enjoy on both sides.

  • No joke, I just do not use her drones at all.

I have nearly 100 cakes left on her as I was getting achievements done during the birthday event, so I play her as an M1 killer without the drones - a chase Merchant if you will.

I have not had a DC other than those who insta-DC the second they see me and the survivors seem to enjoy the match even if being slightly confused as to what the hell I am up to lol.

  • Agreed, as I have heard Zubat say many times they should 'veto' certain maps.

No good ever comes from map offerings on either side and a lot of the times I see an offering someone disconnects during loading. I watched a streamer try 3 times in a row to get Midwich the other day lol.

Some map offerings you pretty much know what you're going to get and it almost always ends in a very unfun match.

  • Not particularly, though I will say it seems if you play the smaller female ones you are maybe slightly more likely to be let go if you are the last alive.

  • Nah you're not alone, I don't really understand how he works either.

I don't understand how to control where I leave his clones so they are randomly distributed over the map in useless locations lol.

I really need to watch a video explaining him a bit better but they all seem to be 20 minutes or more so I just haven't been bothered as yet. But Unknown is definitely a more mechanically complex killer than say Legion or Trapper etc

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

The last time I brought a BPS in this event the Killer tunneled everyone, humped me on the ground and said "Thx for BPS" in Endgame-Chat (and I think they were not even mocking me, they meant this seriously).

Exactly why I stopped bringing BPS

I still bring cakes every killer game though as I have so many on some killers and I can make the match fun and let everyone go at the end and still cash out on some big BP's

  • The problem I have had bringing BPS as survivor is the killer plays like its a tournament and they get paid more if they do the least hooks possible on each survivor.

I end up feeling regret for giving these killers any extra BP since I get so little for using my precious few BPS/cakes on survivors.

I have a lot of cakes on killers though so I use them every match and still get a ton of BP even when I let everyone go after they are all on DH.

  • I despise versing the Twins, one of the worst designed killers ever that promotes the most miserable slug, camp the slug, slug and camp the slug playstyle.

I hope they completely redesign them so this isn't the most effective way to play them, other than that the only excitement I have ever had regarding the Twins is when they have been kill-switched

  • Yeah old BBQ was great, as I said elsewhere it provided you with a secondary goal of trying to get your 4 tokens and it was very satisfying to achieve that, at least for me it was.

Plus we all need BP with so many characters in the game now and I don't think the standard BP from a match really cuts it anymore even with the increase

  • I think everyone misses the old token system with BBQ, it gave me a secondary goal to get all 4 tokens which encourages spreading hooks too. I don't know why they took this away as the increase in BP from matches they implemented after that still feels like a pittance compared to the grind DBD has with so many characters now.

OCE in general has a smaller playerbase that I feel I always see the same names frequently, and after so many years you don't come across new babies in matchmaking nearly as frequently as the rest of the world.

I take breaks from DBD for periods up to 6 months at a time, but since I have played for such a long time overall whenever I come back I get grouped against strong SWFs or high ranked killers that all my games are stressful as to try and win, makes trying the new killer or perks not as fun as I would like.

Yeah OCE is very much like that, killer is very stressful as there are a lot of very good long term players and you have to 'git gud' fast of you're going to have a rough time in general

I take long breaks too btw, my longest being just under a year but I will see a lot of the old names in the lobby with random completely clueless noobs thrown into the mix for some reason.

It's one reason I use ExitLag a lot - to get different regions with a bigger player base and not the same old names

I’m a NA player and when I play on SA with my friends that are from there the killers are genuinely toxic. They don’t tunnel or camp because it’s beneficial they actually do it to spite you. I’ve been bled out for 4 minutes multiple times, hit on hook 30 times by a legion in frenzy, or just hit on hook in general, and basement camping bubba is somehow still a thing there and he hit me on hook too and had a crazy argument in egc with my SA friends that are on PC.

Yeah I sometimes connect to Asian servers and you are not wrong there, though I don't so much get the BM as they just play in the most unfun ways imaginable. The builds are always the sweatiest and most unfun possible and they seem to really love Ultimate Weapon too.

Another issue is you get a lot connecting from China and due to their restrictions they are all on VPN and often poor quality ones at that. So when they play killer you will get hit on the other side of pallets or around corners etc... not fun.

Another thing I noticed is the rumour about the Asian region being big on Self Care is mostly true. It's funny how this region has really taken to Self Care/Botany etc for some reason whereas everywhere else nobody really runs it

I usually play from between 10am and 1pm (Western Oz time). I like to joke that it's the stay at home mums all playing against each other at that time, and that's why it's so chill lol we just want to relax

I think most people that play DBD just want to chill as casuals rather than try to make the games a sweat fest

  • Well today has been weirdly good on NA, do they read these threads or something lol?

It just reminded me how fun this game can be when killers (and survivors) all play well but respectfully. I just had a match vs Onryo on Eyrie, which is probably not ideal for them.

But this Chad played it like a master and even refused to tunnel when I kinda forced OTR protection on the unhooker (would understand them deciding to tunnel me for that).

They still got the 4k and I left that match having had a great time and not at all caring that I got fully condemned and moried.

  • I don't think it is that much of an issue, it is the same as being able to crouch repeatedly as far as BM goes.

  • @coca_blue said:

Nono. Youre absolutely right. As someone who lives in the west coast THE TUNNELING IS REAL. Im a returning player, i played around 2017/18 to maybe 2020 and i can say tunneling was never a big thing but only to toxic players. I only ever tunneled when heated but even so i hated the idea of tunneling. Anyways in 2024/late 2023 i stopped playing dbd for some reasons but mainly because i get tunneled so fast in the beginning. Even with all the fancy perks, they just wait it out. Now i dont know if the killer is just absolutely garbage but talk about bloodthirsty. Or another example is some killers tunnel bad/new players because they cant catch someone who runs them. Ive noticed that too. Im not a BAD player but im not the best either. Its just annoying you have to tunnel out the noobs because you cant catch that one person. (sure wtv its smart but as a retired killer main i think its super sad and a skill issue if you ask me)

Yep and if the killer finds you and you're an easier target than the last survivor they tried, they will often relentlessly tunnel you out of the game.

You have played DBD so you at least have likely experienced a lot of the good times in game too but imagine the new player experience where they are continually tunnelled out of matches because they are an easy target! This is not a positive experience that will make anyone want to keep playing the game and that is a concern imo

  • @Royval said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/409305/painful-experiences-lately-in-solo-queue

A perk combo that actually makes killer feel like you have a chance in winning. Remember when every single match was Iron Will, Dead Hard, Resilience, Adrenaline? Do you know how long that took to nerf?

This is what-about-ism, see I was always a vocal critic of Dead Hard in particular and I think calls to buff it again are absolutely insane. Adrenaline can be abused with a SWF and is strong and I never use it, plus I have no issue with it being nerfed. I had no issue with Iron Will or Resilience and still don't and I feel complaining about those is ridiculously petty.

But none of that takes away from the fact that full gen regression builds with incredibly obnoxious perks like Ultimate Weapon are also unfun to verse. I would argue that being able to continuously use Pop is bordering on unfair and needs urgent attention

Obnoxious perks and perk combos should be addressed on BOTH sides

  • @Xyvielia said:

Also, in NA Tunneling amount fluctuates between certain hours of the day/evening.

I experience immense Tunneling between 3PM and 11PM EST on the weekdays, then tapers off in the overnight hours.

Weekends it mostly seems like a all day event.

Yeah I think its because a lot of the casuals come out during peak play hours. While we don't have the tunnelling problem to the extent I experienced on NA, they definitely do come out during the same hours as you mentioned.

  • Yeah I would not hold out much hope for this one tbh

  • @Yharwick said:

I feel like if everyone ran this kill rates wouldn't sky rocket or anything but they would be noticeably higher. Recording my games this season has made me realize this game is balanced by people not running the strongest builds and instead memes a lot not because BHVR has actually balanced the perks effectively.

Yeah and I have seen builds like this on Nurse and Blight which is just insane overkill against your average solo queue team. Bordering on unfair imo

  • Should Trail Of Torment be reworked/heavily changed?

    No.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

Yesterday a Nurse with a sweaty Build (Nowhere to Hide, Lethal Pursuer, PGTW, Pain Res + strong Add Ons) complained about the Survivors using Adrenaline and WoO. With the game being over before 5 Gens were done and WoO not really useful against Nurse quite a complaint...

As a former Nurse main who only occasionally wheels her out for a spin... I feel when you play Nurse you have ZERO right to complain about anything survivors bring and especially if you play Nurse with multiple gen regression perks! Gross!

  • I think it is pretty simple:

    1) Intentionally going for the same survivor who was just unhooked and especially when you could easily target the unhooker

    2) tunnelling as in tunnel vision - killer refuses to drop chase with a single survivor even when being run past other survivors doing gens and long past the point where switching targets would make sense.

The former is the problem here as it often means the survivor being tunnelled cannot really play a match as the killer relentlessly targets them in an already weakened state (injured from already being hooked) and more unethical killers will specifically target obviously newer players as easy prey.

When is tunnelling okay? Well for me if a survivor tries to force me to eat the BT hit when I always give them an opportunity to make distance so I can target the unhooker, I will consider them as wanting me to tunnel them. When all gens are done and it is contesting the last hooks of the match before the rest exit and finally if survivors are toxic tea bagging etc and I mean toxic, not just they got flashlight saves etc.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Back when I first started playing I used to get a lot of AFK killers. I can't remember but I'm sure I got it that way.

Yeah I think this probably helped me as I play in the degenerate hours between midnight and dawn and I used to get a lot of AFK Wraiths and Freddy's that probably helped. It appears I got this back in 2019 before I ever intentionally tried to finish all achievements

  • Tunnelling is very effective and it is a compensation for low skill, something I see time and time again on NA servers.

A 3v1 at 5 gens is pretty much unwinnable for survivors unless the last 3 are all very skilled and do not waste resources but once one gets hooked then only one can possibly be on a gen and the match progresses too slowly as pallets get used up and the map becomes a massive dead zone.

I have said it before but I am OCE and tunnelling happens but I also play NA and the tunnelling on NA (LA) servers is out of control. Today I had one OCE killer hard tunnel in a game but pretty much every NA match was a hard tunnel at 5 gens.

I don't know what is going on either, it is like the problem went supernova in the last week or so as while NA did seem to have more tunnelling than my region, it seems to have become an epidemic out of nowhere.

Edit: NA server tunnelling is so bad I actually have to switch to my anti tunnelling build to play on there lol. That says it all to me

  • Why on Earth would anyone want to see DH buffed in any capacity?!

This perk was such a massive problem in DBD for many years and it is still very strong, potentially giving a survivor two extra health states per match and if you consider with SWF that could be x8 and there is no way this should be buffed.

  • @xltechno said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/409259/psa-for-solo-queue-survivors

Yes, it's true. Survivors who do not understand this cannot be called sane.

However, recently the theory has changed a bit, and the trend has become that it doesn't really matter where the first 1gen is completed. By creating a zone where the killer is not worth visiting, survivors in a pinch can take refuge there. The worst thing is in a gen where there is only one pallet loop nearby, the survivor will use the quick attack pallet just because the killer has arrived. This prevents anyone from completing the gen safely. Survivors with SB can barely follow.

But what I see is they will do the gen that is the farthest from the rest as the first gen, so all you do is effectively reduce the killers patrol route significantly so they have immense pressure for the rest of the match.

Leaving that most remote gen can be a win condition late match and I will stand by that being far more valuable than creating a dead area for the killer. These occur naturally throughout the progress of the match imo

Edit: another mistake I see a lot is survivors all doing gens on one side of the map, pretty much ensuring the match is a losing game long term.

  • @rha said:

True, I wish MMR was intelligent enough to recognize solo players with enough experience/game sense to consider these kind of things and match them together, solo queue would instantly be a much better place.

Instead I am matched with completely new players who are doing nothing even when there's no terror radius. I tried to play one match last night. The killer was clearly new, confused and pretty clueless. Didn't matter, everyone but me went down in literally seconds. And when I got finally hooked (nobody did gens the whole time I kept the killer busy, woohoo ...) I was left hanging to die on first hook ... with Kindred. My remaining teammates (one was so bad he got tunnelled out at 4 gens by that really bad killer) were crouching in different map corners, impossible that both had terror radius the same time, neither doing gens nor coming to help me. I kept watching a bit because I wanted to see the killer's build (was a P0, I predicted 2-3 tier 1 perks) but the game completely stalled there, one survivor was just locker-hiding, the other survivor was crouch-walking around the map border, so I didn't bother waiting that out. And that's my regular match experience, not the occasional MM screw-up.

Although I have to say there were cases where I was matched with another solo and a 2SWF (clearly recognizable by their names and they played the same character with same cosmetics, the other one was 100% solo because he replaced someone dropping out of the lobby), and the solo teammate was a pretty great player, but it didn't matter because the 2SWF won the match for the killer in record time. It's not like solo queue players lack game sense and SWF players are good just because they have someone to play with.

Bro... I feel your pain, particularly dying on hook WITH KINDRED and especially first hook. I always run Kindred these days as a solo queue player it really is incredibly helpful and so underrated. But I have died on first hook many times and in my matches I also apparently have killers who can chase all 3 remaining survivors at once, as the ones that are not being chased are all hiding!

I accept matchmaking will prioritise speed over accurate matchmaking and I like the chaos of solo queue... but at times it can be painful to the point I cant do it and have to play killer. Having the player status info still isn't enough to help some and I feel it doesn't matter how much info you spoon feed them

I really need to duo with one of the many very experienced friends I have...

  • @Yharwick said:

    Your solo teammates do gens?

Lol... you actually make a good point there too

  • That I was "camping generators" when the survivors 3 genned themselves without any effort from me.

I intentionally don't bother 3 genning as I find it a boring way to play killer but these survivors put themselves in the worst 3 gen and I was playing Dr. I asked them did they want me to just go and wait in the corner so they could do their gen lol

  • @GolbezGarlandGabrant said:

It happens less than you think. I'd like someone to actually do a % of times they got hit by the combo.

    Yeah I agree with this.

Sure it is annoying but I played over 200 hours of DBD in the last 2 weeks (yes, I know I need help) and I saw this combo maybe twice in all my survivor and killer games over that time.

I tried running it myself but the value just isn't there enough for me to justify it and I find perks like We'll Make It and Kindred give far more value overall than I ever got out of Buckle UP/FTP
