  • I've played solo in teams where we played like a 4man swf . The only difference is that instead of just 4 survivors with 4 second chance meta perks, we're bringing perks like Detectives Hunch, and Kindred. Then there is always that one solo player that actually uses Prove Thyself solo, you may notice them. They often also run Bond, or Nancy's Better Together perk.

Best 4 minutes of my life.

  • I feel bad for anyone who purchased the DLC. They were robbed of their money, and were not given what they were promised they were paying for.

It's like you just bought a Dead by Daylight DLC on Wish.

  • Survivor is an easier less stressful role to play (which you would expect for a 1v4 game). So of course there are more "good survivors" than there are good Killers. Apart of that problem is that Survivor has a lot more control using their Skill in game than Killer. Killer has so many random variables to track and experience in game, their skill becomes nearly impossible to apply. How many survivors are on Gens? Does this survivor have Dead Hard / Sprint Burst / Lithe? Does this survivor have unbreakable? They performed an unsafe save, do they have Borrowed Time or Decisive Strike. Am I in the position I can take the CHANCE to punish them for their fowl play?

Then you come into the problem when you do face good survivors, or survivors that literally took a 5 minute google search to find these issues. They run BT / DS / Unbreakable knowing that when they perform an unsafe save to save time, and keep pressure on the Killer. They are practically immune. If you chase the injured unhooked survivor as punishment for the unsafe save. Well too bad, you waste time, get nothing of it. The survivor will run to the most brain dead loops. Take up 20+ seconds of your time, and then when you down them you can't pick them up because DS, and if you slug them they get up anyways from Unbreakable. Meanwhile the other 3 are working on gens, but if you chase them you throw away 40+ seconds having to take the time to injure them, and down them. Which they get distance when you hit them the first time, and more distance from Dead Hard / Sprint Burst / Lithe costing you even more time.

So even the good Killers are forced to play at the same level as average Survivors because the game environment rewards survivors too much for playing poorly, and doesn't reward Killers enough for playing good/smart.

  • Wait this is Dead by Daylight forums? I thought this was Deathgarden.

  • Give Freddy his sunglasses back

  • Claudette, Jake, and Dwight are all in the OG Trailer too. Don't know if Dwight dies though.

It's one of many examples. I know about the chest searching build. I know it's not hard to farm that way, too. But, for killers, they have it a lot easier in stock piling as they don't have to worry about items. All they need are add-ons and offerings. So, for them already being in red ranks constantly after each reset, why would they need more blood points to keep stock piling add-ons faster than they can use them? Red ranks don't need blood points.

When did this become a comparison thread? Also why does it matter how hard it is for Killers to get Add-ons?

Most Add-ons for each Killer is useless, except for a few add-ons. Which then many - MANY Killers are add-on dependent on those few add-ons (Ghostface and power CD add-ons), and have a hard time finding them because they have 20+ add-ons to wade through and 40+ Offerings, just trying to find for those 1-3 add-ons.

For Survivors every item is useful for the most important parts of playing Survivor, every add-on makes that main objective better. Survivors don't have an add-on that removes their power to repair generator for a messely 200bp increase that is capped anyways, so it doesn't matter.

In addition that Survivors CAN FIND ITEMS AND ADDONS IN GAME EASILY.

You want a Purple Flashlight? Take Ace in the Hole, take a green broken key, search the basement chest. You practically are guaranteed a green or purple item. Hell even if you didn't take a green key, there is still only 5 common/uncommon items you could get (which is still useful Medkits Toolboxes, and flashlight). Out of 18 items. You have 5/18 chance to get an item that is common/uncommon, but still incredibly useful to your character.

  • Catch up. It goes live tomorrow, and we already know what it's like from the testing, and background testing (I guess you didn't notice, experienced players noticed when they were testing it without an announcement). Solo Survivor, and playing Killer is dead.

  • SBMM ruined the game, and seeing how Boon totems are going to be there's nothing to look forward to for the future of the game either.

  • Your complaint is getting inventory for Survivors?

Run Ace in the Hole, and farm items while playing. Getting items as Survivor is incredibly easy, and cheap.

  • Yeah an auto-complete button, or hold to auto-complete would be great for the bloodweb. Excellent slice of life change for players that don't care what they get out of a bloodweb (who don't use items/add-ons for example), or level characters only when they have 900k+ bloodpoints.

  • I've noticed a lot of Killers just not giving a ######### anymore, and to be honest it was gonna happen at some point. You can only kick someone while they are down so many times till they just stop caring about your fun and your made up rules.

Heck I don't even open the chat anymore, and stopped giving hatch. Too many times have I given hatch, and had some player get upset I gave the hatch to someone else who "didn't deserve it" or gave them the hatch, and that somehow marks me as a bad player.

Survivors should have learned "check yo self before you wreck yo self".

Sure, as a whole I think they can realize that yes, you may have died but your team won. The problem is I don't think when a survivor dies they, themselves, view it as a win, right? If you escape, you win. As a killer, if you kill 3 people, you win. Of course, some people say "If you have fun, you won" People also don't like not having fun. You could go 100 to 0 to give your team a shot to win because you're being camped, but.. maybe you want to just get out and go onto the next game ASAP. I find the more skilled players around you, the easier what someone decides to do becomes to that kinda stuff.

I think a lot of people dislike going against a sweaty killer, but if there's one thing I respect about them it's that a really good killer isn't going to camp, and they're far less likely to tunnel. You know as a survivor they're going to be competent, and you know the survivors will be. You can really abuse this fact inside of SBMM.

Killers are told all the time "Get over it". The hypocrisy is unreal. You don't get to dictate what is a win. The game has set rules as to what is a win, and players need to accept that and move on. Not just the Killers the Survivors too. No more "I died, but everyone else lived. I have this pip, but because I died I didn't win". Players acting like that is the problem, not what constitutes a win.

It's like coming second in a race, and then getting upset you didn't get gold. The race doesn't just get to demand gold. They get told, suck it up, and move on. At least you got Silver. Do better next time.

  • @Alphasoul05 said:

It's not easier, there's just so much variation across all ranks that killers can easily win if they take out the weak players. Sometimes, every player is a weak player. If you're going to use winstreaks as a form of balance or measure of difficulty, then I don't really know what to tell you, friend, aside from that's really dumb.

The only thing about what you said being true here is that it's easier to go on a win streak as a killer than it is as a survivor by virtue of so many more variables being at play.

People need to stop taking a sacrifice as Survivor as a loss. You can pip as a dead survivor. That is the game telling you, you have performed your job accurately and were awarded a higher place in rank.

Same with Killer. People need to stop considering a 2 escape as a loss. 2 Survivors can escape and you can still pip. That is the game telling you, you have performed your job accurately and were awarded a place in rank.

When you black pip is when the game tells you performed just enough for a draw.

The objective of the game is to help your side the best you can, not complete the ultimate goal. Survivor is to survive as much as you can. Killer is to kill as much as you can.

  • We have a hard enough of a time wanting to play the game now.

Why did they even consider this a good idea?

  • As someone who plays, if not all, killers well. The SBMM was a nightmare in practice, and I don't imagine it's going to be fun live.

I actually suspect Dead by Daylight to see a crash in it's player base as casual cc's leave, casual players dribble out. Leaving only the elitists left. Which they will then get pissed at each other, then pissed at BHVR. Then the game will die out like Deathgarden.

Because this is what happened to Deathgarden, the game became too competitive no one wanted to play anymore. It's just not good for an asymmetrical game.

The future isn't set in stone however, BHVR definitely could miraculously turn things around, and make the game fun again. Just that doesn't seem to be the priority. As they seem to be focusing more on squeezing out as much money as they can from their player base.

  • Because when you play Solo survivor the other 3 members are a 3 swf, or 2swf+1. When you play Killer the survivors are most likely 2 2swf, 3swf+1, or 4swf.

Then because of the advantages of having that added communication the Survivors play better.

TL;DR; As solo survivor you are mathematically more likely to get matched with smaller swf's and solo's. While as Killer you are more likely to face larger and more SWFs than solos.

  • They say "don't disconnect for x amount of time" or "x amount of days".

    But what really works is

Don't play for a few days.

  • Meanwhile me and my friends

"Think we will do all the gens in under 4 minutes?"

    "What's our current record?"

    "Four minutes and 43 seconds"

    "Yeah we can beat that"

That's one of my biggest hopes with MMR coming into the game.

So they see which killers aren't performing well on certain MMR ratings and buff them accordingly.

Admittedly I have some sick fantasy of seeing Trapper throw his traps at Survivors to incapacitate them, so I hope they go that direction to buffing him :P

They would have to change his name to Yeeter

  • That's a weak build. All I see in that build is "How to play the game with only 2 perks after the first 20 seconds of the game". Meanwhile those 2 perks are what?

Get a notification of the gen from across the map that is going to be completed in your face by the time you get there?

Yes I've tried it. Over hyped, and too easy to counter for good survivors. Next.

  • Not overpowered perks, but Survivor perks that have no counterplay. You can't counter "Does this survivor have DS or not?" "Does this survivor have Unbreakable?" "Does this survivor have Dead Hard, Sprint Burst, or Lithe?" "Do these survivors have Prove Thyself?" "Which one has Prove Thyself so I know to isolate them?" "Does this survivor have BT?" "Does this survivor have Soul Guard?"

Playing Killer isn't fun, because they have no information, and are guessing more than half the time while at the same time requiring a lot of skill to play.

I picked this game up never intending for it to be a competitive game. It's 1v4 where two sides have two different objectives, there's just no way that can be balanced, so i never expected the competitive playerbase to be as large as it is.

Deathgarden failed when players made it too competitive.

How do you compensate the distance of the first whipps? i trying to use him properly too

The first whip is the distance of a normal attack with Lunge.

Honestly the best playstyle I find for him is to run Corrupt Intervention. Go to the survivors, push one into locking themselves in an animation (Pallet or Window), or in a corridor. Whip, then immediately drop chase to go after another survivor the same way. When you whip 2 healthy survivors into infected (even without add-ons) you get Level 2, and can break pallets. When you get used to it, normally this only takes half the time of Corrupt so you can still get a down and hook off the second survivor you chase before running out of Corrupt.

Ideally every game by the end of corrupt you want level 2 and a hooked survivor. That's a lot of pressure with your 2 zombies walking around being butts to floating survivors.

  • Deathgarden failed because it became too competitive.

    *sips tea*

  • I try to hook whoever I downed first. All the survivors can learn all the perks, so I don't really find things like "All bills run Unbreakable" or "All Davids run Dead Hard". It's a lot more like "Chances are there is at least one Unbreakable somewhere on this team" and "They are either running Sprint Burst, Dead Hard, or Lithe"

Man, people complaining about guessing as Survivor - there is like 12 things at a time you have to guess as Killer it's stupid af

  • Could someone please put Victor in a tux, with a top hat and monocle?

  • It's not the Killers job to be nice, and by the looks of it most people who play Killer were nice until they got fed up with the constant disrespect from toxic/entitled Survivors.

So tell Survivors to start being nice instead and you will see the game get better overall.

  • They should add a perk for Killer that shows survivors near a hook survivor. The reason is because right now you really only have BBQ to gauge if a survivor is about to save the moment you leave the hook, and most players know to counter BBQ by hiding in a locker. Killer's would be more likely to go and try to pressure gens if they can see that survivors are pressuring gens.

Killer's don't like standing in front of a hook for just 1 kill they need more incentive to leave the hook, because right now they have more incentive to stay or at least stay nearby because nothing is telling them that a survivor is nearby going to unhook and remove all of your current pressure in an instant.

Bubba is a broken character. Like he's not overly powerful, but he's oppressive when it comes to saves. If the devs were to take my suggestion it would be to have it so his chainsaw does one state of damage. Basically a built in speed limiter. Now, he would need major changes to keep him viable. But that's fine, I want Bubba to be strong, but I want there to be good counterplay even within your ranks to a bubba camping a survivor.

Survivors have all the means in the game to survive without getting hooked once. Finish the other gen's and leave as to not give the Killer more than a 1k.

  • After playing a long time, getting an idea where the Survivors have gone most likely becomes easy. "They finished this gen, they must be going here" "The most likely spot they will be hiding is here". Not to mention a lot of factors contribute to a Killer finding you; Scratch Marks, Crows, Footsteps, Breathing, Interactive Prefabs, Pools of Blood, Chests, Generators, Totems, Doors, Vaulting, Lockers.

I get that playing Survivor is easy for you because everything you have at your disposal comes up as bright colors, words, and tools on your screen, but good Killers are going to be experienced to notice even the finest details to find you, with the sense to know where you are most likely at different times in a trial.

Don't forget - Killer requires a lot more skill than Survivor.

  • He's the first killer that I have been able to play Corrupt, Ruin, and Undying on at the same time. It might be because of the Zombies, but for some reason my totems don't get cleansed in the first 20 seconds of the match, even though with Corrupt that's what is supposed to happen 9/10 times. Just slap a BBQ on him, and snowball the rest of the game.

Then again I also don't play Nemesis like most others, I get my second level by hitting 2 healthy/injured survivors with Tentacle Strike, not Zombies. Hitting non-sick survivors gives the most progression to his tentacle strike levels. Once I hit 2 survivors I have level 2, and then use it mostly for breaking pallets so Survivors have less time running between loops, hitting them when they are locked in animation, or making a loop shorter with a longer reach of attack.

  • Survivors when they see a difficult Killer "IT HAS NO COUNTER PLAY" cries

Meanwhile Survivors Running; Borrowed Time, Sprint Burst, Unbreakable, and Iron Will . While Decisive Strike remains as a perk that the Killer is forced to guess about.

  • CC's got bored of talking about Spirit, so it stopped being cool to cry about Spirit.

  • Left 4 Dead.

I just can't bring myself to sabotage my whole team - for the unlikely chance to escape after finishing the last gen.

The problem isn't even the community. It's humans in general.

There are dozens of games with good community's. Final Fantasy XIV for instance, and that's because Square Enix takes toxicity seriously, and does something about it.

I never played Blizzard games except Diablo 3 (I think it's Blizzard ) but I played offline completely

Basically the same you see here. Rampant toxicity, a broken game, and streamlining cosmetics/money making. Players get fed up and left the game for something better. To boot all the sexual harassment allegations didn't help their cause.

Dead by Daylight in my opinion is walking down the exact same path. Too much toxicity, broken game, and focusing mostly on making money. With nothing being done about the broken game or the toxicity.

Never do that, just kill them all and move on.

That's the risk you take when being kind in this community. Actually, I wouldn't even call that kindness, more like satisfying someone's entitlement.

I am from a time when this game was fun, and doing my best not to become like most of the people I encounter now.

  • People say it's not as bad as other games. Because it's not - it's worse. I wouldn't even be surprised if the whole community pulls a Blizzard.

  • I have come to the conclusion the problem isn't even with the game. It's how toxic the community is and nothing being done about it. I just got told to kill myself 3 games in a row, even a game I gave the last survivor hatch.

  • Why are we talking about Rank like it matters? Trust me OP you're going to find just as good survivors rank 15 as you do rank 1. To go against easier or less skilled players create a smurf account.

Can we please stop lying to players and convincing everyone Rank = Skill when it only equals monthly game time.

  • Right now
