Would be nice if there was a console only crossplay option also (i.e Xbox, PS, Switch only). I mean you can do okay with a controller, but you are almost always at a disadvantage and it really becomes apparent when you start playing better and more experienced players. Add in lag spikes & rubber banding and the game can quickly becoming infuriating playing both survivor and killer.
Dunno if it's this event but been getting quite a lot of rubber banding during chases, which is super annoying.

I just started playing again last week after about 1+ year and when I first started it kinda felt like MMR was working for a few days and after that it just seems pointless. Doesn't matter what killer I play it's all the same. I either get sweaty squads or new players. Doesn't seem to be a consistent middle ground and that goes for playing survivor also, but survivor games seem to favour putting you up against new killers on quite a regular basis.
-
Yeah the SBMM/MMR system is pretty broken. You either get a team/killer that is way above you skillwise or completely fresh to the game running like 2 rank 1 perks. Its very rare to actually get games that are around your skill level, especially as a survivor. I see many games as a survivor that are straight up unfair matching for the new killer.
I think the new emblem system is more of a how much time you've spent in the game. Its very easy to rank up and the more time you put in the more pips you get. It should however provide some kinda indication of the players experience & skill if they play the games legitimately because you have to do fairly well quite consistently. In theory as your MMR climbs so should your emblem status.
-
Impossible skill check build is pretty fun. Huntress lullaby, distressing, unnerving presence & overcharge. I use undying instead of overcharge though. Indoor maps it's pretty OP or on maps that have decent totem spawns.

It's so poor. I'd love to play killer, but it's hard enough playing with a controller, pair that with frame drops and it can literally be the cause of me losing a game. If a survivor uses dead hard or vaults a pallet, it can completely freeze my game and cause me to lose track of them.
So I stick to survivor, but even then, if the killer has sloppy butcher, my game freezes. If the killer has ruin, my game freezes. If I use dead hard, my game freezes. Something really needs to be done about it.
Yeah it's gotten significantly worse recently. I'm actually struggling to see survivors after I hit them. It's like they literally vanish into thin air. Even when I do keep track of them on a chase it's so glitchy I'm struggling to land hits on them if they are in close proximity to me.
-
You can easily get red ranks on killer playing casually. I got to rank 5 in 6 weeks having never played the game before on console. I was probably playing like 8 hours a week. I got bored playing the same killer all the time and facing pretty much exclusively red ranks with a few purple ranks here & there. I started playing weaker killers and trying out different builds etc and deranked to 7/8. It's more enjoyable at that rank & you get more of a mixture of ranks. Still face a lot of red ranks and SWF, but it's not like every game.
If you really want to get into the red ranks casually just play a strong killer and focus on getting a good perk set up. It's basically just a matter of time played after that and you'll eventually get there.
-
Can't see it ever happening, just like the pathetic match making will never change. They're scared of losing players if they make any serious adjustments to SWF/Matchmaking.
-
Pinhead would be a really cool killer visually. Quite like to see The Lost Boys also would have to be David (Kiefer Sutherland) the peroxide mullet sporting vampire as the killer & you got a ton of good characters for survivors also.
-
It can be a good time waster when you have like 3 torches on a team. You can guarantee like 90% of the players will try and retrieve the lost torch. Other than that it's pretty pointless.
-
I play on Xbox with X-Play on most of the time, but sometimes I'll switch it off and it's significantly easier to catch a survivor with X-Play off. It's no disrespect to console survivors and I do face good teams, but the movements are so easy to predict and often when fast turning, 360 etc the movements are much slower and wider than PC. Console movements don't seem to be able to hug walls/rocks etc as tightly when doing loops.
It's just generally harder to do these fast movements consistently on console and add in frame rate drops etc it becomes even more annoying. I'm at about 80 sensitivity (working up to 100) & have my elite controller analog curves set to super aggressive twitch type movements and I still find it difficult to flick really good PC players. Most of the time now I just let them like 360 a few times or back peddle then hit them because I know if I commit to trying to flick hit them I'll probably miss and lose them.
-
They actually broke pallets. Constantly getting stunned like 5 foot away from a pallet. I can visibly see the gap between me and the pallet and even have to run after the stun to get in range to break the pallet.
-
Corn is bad it's much harder to track and I don't like the new tractors. The hay bales at the tractors have been moved and it's very hard to run off the ramp and try to mind game now. They also have safe spots that you can't hit anyone from below.
-
Problem is that red ranks are the cap for all players regardless if you've played 3 months or 3 years. It's relatively easy to get to high purple ranks in a few months as a new player, but when you hit that bracket you're constantly going against people with 1000s of hours experience that know the maps like the back of their hand.
I think the ranking/MMR range needs to be larger & more gradual, but I'm guessing there's not enough players to make that work without having insane queue times at higher ranks/MMR.
-
Hopefully the MMR system will make the skill progression more gradual than it is now. There's quite a significant difference between the skill level of a full purple team & a full red team. Much more than any other bracket. I guess it's because the people that have thousands of hours are capped at the red ranks and it really only takes 1-2 months to get into the purple ranks for new players.
The current ranking system is a joke and should be replaced by a rated MMR system from like 0-3000. You should still have higher rated players on occasion, but the points awarded/deducted should be calculated from the rating you play against. Cap SWF teams individual rating to only be able to play with other team members within say 200 rating points of each other to prevent boosting and purposely lowering overall rating to face easier killers (which currently happens all the time 3 red ranks & 1 rank 18).

@beached said:
Sensitivity settings and overall movement is always going to be better on M&K. I am easily able to 360 console killers at least once a match for the most part but PC killers have a much easier time flicking their camera to avoid getting spun.
As a console player who mainly plays Killer it's so much harder trying to catch a PC player during 360/180s. You basically have to bait it out and try to counter it by not committing to an attack or back peddling. You can still catch PC players, but it's significantly harder than chasing a console survivor. Console survivors tend to make much wider turns when trying to 360 you so it's very predictable and really easy to land a hit especially when you're used to playing against PC players.

I play on Xbox and the game runs fine, but I do play on the Newer Generations (Xbox One X). I do remember playing DBD on the Xbox One before and It did feel a lot different and felt rough to play, but to be fair the Xbox One released in 2014. It sounds like it's Time to upgrade.
I play on the one X & it definitely doesn't run fine for me. Lots of frame drops and latency issues since the last update. Some matches it's okay & others not so much. Haven't really played the game for long enough to see a trend with certain maps/perks etc but I know some people mention things like dead hard, sloppy butcher etc giving them issues. I've noticed a trend with the speed boost iframe after first hit though which I guess is kinda like the dead hard animation. It's very inconsistent and on some maps I get frame drops straight after the hit, which results in me losing vision of my target. Pretty frustrating, but not much I can do about it.
-
Probably due to the fact that a lot of players might only have a few killers they can play well & learning a new killer basically means losing ranks, which I guess a lot of people don't like. I think if ranks were tied to individual killers you would probably see a lot more variation & people would be much more willing to try out playing different killers.
-
Well I play on one X and still managed to get to rank 5. I guess if the game didn't run like ######### 50% of the time I would easily be floating around the rank 2-4 range.
-
Problem is everyone knows totem placements are a total joke without running undying & even then they get busted relatively fast. It's pretty common to lose both totems in the first 3-5 mins so let's not pretend people are running around getting 5 stacks and mori'ing people every other game.

@CornHub said:
Tsk tsk, what you killer mains don't seem to understand is if hatch has spawned that means they got most of the gens done, and if they got most of the gens done they basically got all the gens and all the gens being done means the game is over so stop tryharding for a kill.
Well having 4 gens done with 3 players remaining isn't a guaranteed win especially if you have 3 remaining gens that are close and easy to patrol. A lot of killers excel going into the end game with 3 survivors.
Having 4 gens remaining with 2 players is pretty much a win for the killer & generally means the killer outplayed the team in the early game so why should they be rewarded with a free escape, robbing the killer of getting ruthless/merciless?

Don't tell me what I can or can't do.
Lol settle down it's a figure of speech not direct attack on you as a person. You're just getting edgy because what I said makes sense.

@apathyinc said:
Keys also reward survivors who took the time to search chests, taking time off of doing the primary objective. That's something that benefits the killer if they don't find one. Also, there is something that can kill survivors mid-game. It's called Devour Hope and I see it used a lot since the undying change.
Can't really compare having to use 2 perk slots that require 5 hooks and will 9/10 be destroyed by the time you reach 5 hooks to opening a box that takes 10 seconds for a chance of a free win/escape.

Buffalo Bill could be interesting, but he is clearly stated to not be LGBTQ+ (At least in the books) ((well? Maybe queer? I don’t know if that counts tbh))
Well it says he believed himself to be transsexual, but was too distrurbed to qualify for gender reassignment treatment.
I guess they already have leatherface with the human skin thing going on.
-
Buffalo Bill would actually be a pretty cool killer from silence of the lambs.
-
Survivors don't like being slugged because it makes the games too long and it's boring, yet they also don't like being tunneled, which makes the games much shorter.
Doesn't really matter how you play a killer you're going to get called a camper, tunneler, slugger, cheater regardless of what combination of tactics you use to win a game.
I guess 90% of survivor mains just want you to run around like a dumb ass and give the occasional chase, whilst letting them complete all the objective in under 10 mins so they can pip and play in ranks they have no business being at.
-
As someone that relatively new to the game I find it quite bizarre that tunneling is so frowned upon as a tactic. You can generally tell within the first few minutes if you need to tunnel someone out the game to stand a chance at winning. Going into mid to late game versus a strong team when you still have 4 players is pretty much a lose.
Iike if I see 2 rapid gens pop and my totems destroyed in under a minute I'll try and take the weakest player out of the game ASAP and look at trying to secure 3-4 gens in close proximity. If I feel like the game is going okay at the start I'll usually chase the unhooker or just slug person who's been unhooked and leave them to be healed.
Sometimes I'll tunnel a player to keep them away from totems, because I know the first thing they're going to do when unhooked is head back to my totems and remove my perks, especially if they find my totems in the first few minutes.
Ideally you don't want to tunnel anyone out the game early because you will probably get less points and quite often other solo players will pretty much give up if someone goes down too fast, but sometimes it's a necessary tactic if you want to stand any chance of winning at the mid to late game.
-
The playerbase is also to blame for crap matchmaking because they exploit the ranking system on both killer and survivor.
You have SWF that purposely bring a brown rank so they can boost their chances at getting a low ranked killer to farm for easy pips & you have killers that purposely derank to get put against easy/new players. I mean when you see a brown rank killer with like 4 purple teachable perks it's pretty obvious they're just bad at the game and are nothing more than toxic players feeding on new players for their own amusement.
-
I started playing just under 2 months ago and am currently at rank 6 on killer. I actually found it easier to get from rank 11 to 6 than getting from like rank 15 to 11 due to the amount of red and purple ranks I would face as soon as I hit rank 15. From rank 10 onwards the matchmaking has felt much more consistent at putting me against players at my level. From about rank 8 I'm definitely facing a lot more teams with 3-4 red ranks, but to be honest I've been quite surprised by the lower skill level of some of these red rank survivors & have had plenty of games I've gotten 4ks with a team of 3 red & 1 purple.
I definitely still consider myself to be a new player to the game and have a lot to learn, but I honestly don't think it takes much time to become semi decent at the game. As long as you open up the perks to make solid builds and watch some guides on improving overall gameplay you'll be quite efficient in no time at all.
The matchmaking system is pretty unfair though especially when you get that rank 15 spot (which takes no time at all). You definitely shouldn't be put against purple ranks until at least rank 12 and red ranks at maybe like rank 9.
I don't really get the match making system to be honest it seems totally broken and kinda pointless until you reach higher ranks and even then I've been put against like rank 15-20 survivors that are blatantly pretty fresh to the game.

how much dlc do you have
I just have the base game and I've bought a few killers (not sure if you download any of the dlc when you buy individual killers?)
-
I just started playing a few months ago on one X and it's never happened to me, game pretty much loads first time albeit it takes a while. Maybe try a complete reinstall of the game.
-
Players have actually started disappearing in front of my eyes during a chase now and then reappearing either further ahead or to the left/right.
One of the biggest issues is the speed dash after a first hit. Like there a 60% chance I'll totally lose the target because it so laggy and glitchy & I struggle to see which direction the person went.

I've honestly not had any queue issues, other than Survivor queues but that seems universal.
Yeah it's quite random tbh I was getting fast queue times as killer on Xbox for a few days and then it was taking forever so I just went back to X-Play. I've realised also that playing solely Xbox the frame rates / lag is even worse v survivor compared to PC & you get SWF pretty much 75% of the time.

Maybe trying to get into a match with a killer friend, or they want to dodge certain survivors for some reason
Makes sense I've been in a few matches as survivor when the other 3 players + killer are working in collaboration. Guess it's easier to exploit the queue system on console when X-Play is turned off.
-
This is another major reason crossplay with PC is just bad for console players. You have inferior systems trying to perform against better systems. You run into all sorts of issues with desync & latency on top of optimization, performance issues & Mouse and keyboard controls.
The difference between playing against survivors with X-Play on and off is night & day. The only issue with having X-Play off is you have bigger queue times & come up against SWF teams a lot more. It's almost laughable how easy it is to play against solo survivors with X-Play off when you're used to playing against PC players as a console killer.
Optimization between platforms would be extremely difficult when you take into account all the variables that effect gameplay.

Why should the devs listen to a few individuals like u when theres also a side like us that doesnt want it removed? and ur on a troll account with only a week since registed so ur point arent valid
again just turn it off if u dont like it. Queue times are worst? woudlnt that contractdict what u just said since u only said it benefit PC players when its the same for console in queue times?
Maybe if you read what I said you would understand.
This game was originally a PC game and most likely the largest % of the playerbase is still on PC. The game was obviously having issues with queue times at some point in the past. So in order to remedy that problem they introduced crossplay.
What they failed to do though was implement proper optimization for console so that the game could be played fairly. Console is an after thought and is basically being used as a bandaid fix to make queue times better.
As I said before they should give a console only crossplay option + keyboard and mouse support to people that want to play crossplay with PC players. That would be fair for both platforms.
-
@Someissues said:
Just turn it off lol?
I am against removing it cuz of selfish individuals like u. queue times is astrocious without it
The problem with turning it off is people don't want to wait 30-40 mins for a game so they put up with the disadvantages it brings. Still doesn't make it right though.
My guess is that it massively benefits PC players having shorter queue times and is probably the reason it was originally implemented PC to console crossplay. Had a console only crossplay been made available I doubt any sane person on console would be playing with PC players and the queue times would have been probably just as good as they're now. The only people this truly benefits are PC players by giving them shorter queue times and easier games at higher ranks.
-
On Xbox if you turn it off it's like 20-30 min queue time on Killer during the day. God knows what survivor times are like.
Crossplay should never be thing between PC & console with a fast paced competitive game that involves twitch movement & muscle memory.
If you think it doesn't matter I'm guessing you predominantly gamed on either console/pc for like 95% of your gaming life. Any experienced gamer who has played on both platforms knows that a PC player will always have a massive advantage over any console player, especially once they become experienced and better at the game.
The crossplay should have been between console only or at least give a third option to have a console based crossplay only. If you want to implement full crossplay then at minimum you should offer mouse and keyboard support.
The reality is that once you start playing in the red ranks as a console player against good PC players you're at a massive disadvantage, regardless if you're a good console player, and you can forget about being competitive against like 99% of PC SWF groups at high ranks.
All it really does is feed the higher ranked PC players, but I guess they enjoy getting free ranks against players on an inferior platform.
Even if they implemented keyboard and mouse support it's still not really justified crossplaying PC to console. Most people that opt for a console do so because they don't want to be sitting at a desk playing with keyboard/mouse & they use the console as a entertainment system.
It's pretty obvious even after only playing for a few months that the Devs don't really give a s**t about the playerbase or fair gameplay. Sadly that seems to be the way these days for most gaming companies developing new or existing games.
-
I started playing about 6 weeks ago and play Killer 95% of the time, I'm currently rank 10 & the only thing that really annoys me about SWF teams is dropping ranks if you get unlucky and have multiple SWF games in a row.
If they added a guaranteed safety pip when facing SWF teams of 3+ i would happily play against them, even if I knew it was a SWF.
The game was obviously originally designed around solo play. A killer is effectively having their progression taken away by a system that was never intended to the basis of the gameplay.
Keep SWF, but make it irrelevant to player progression. Balance both killer & survivor based on solo play as the game was originally intended.
-
I had to turn my direct messages off on Xbox when I first started playing. The amount of abuse you get as a killer is unreal. Don't think I've came across anything like it before in any game I've played online in the last 16 years.
-
I feel like there's a more prominent issue with latency/lag after the update. I've hit people through pallets and also been stunned when I've cleared the pallet area on a chase.
There's also a weird delay when a survivor starts to run. It's like they move really slow & then really fast for a few seconds before the speed normalises during a chase.
I've also noticed that when you down survivors that it sometimes glitches the location you down them and they either appear like 10 foot ahead or behind you which is really annoying. That's been happening since I started playing about 6 weeks ago.
