Okay title. I'm a killer main (Queen Sadako and Dredge) but like I don't get what's so scary about the HUD changes and I'm not hearing the REASONING behind why its so feared. I know its a big change but afaik it won't do much to help super co-ordinated and good solos much anyways. I don't know what the problem really is and I see everyone major being like "THIS WILL KILL KILLER!!!"

i've actually seen mostly the opposite, survivors raging that the devs aren't doing enough and saying the HUD update is totally useless, i even saw one guy say that it is never useful in any situation for any person (obviously he was wrong, but you know)

  • @appleas said:

It just means that games will be much more closer for solo queue instead of a 3/4k with only 2-3 gens done

So Killer will have lesser room for errors in a solo queue game as compared to now.

i definitely don't think a minor change like this is going to affect escape rates that drastically, in fact it will probably barely affect them at all

  • Yes, I've wanted this for years. All my characters are full up with random garbage like map offerings, fog reagants, basement offerings on survivor (???), moonlight bouquets (literally can't use them in any way now, they just sit in your inventory), garbage addons, etc.

  • ...the same charts that tell you the playerbase is totally fine, you mean?

I'd argue this is good information as steam you have to purchase the game while xbox beta gives it for free.

Epic gives better discounts but I hardly see an epic user in my lobbies.

2 years ago there was a peak of 100k players now we are around 30k..

I see console players in basically every match I play.

Also, basically every game that has ever existed has way less players than their all-time peak. Are you using steam charts for the first time in your life and just making wild conjecture off of them, or what?

    @Paternalpark said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3317392#Comment_3317392

I hope so, as I can't play ED when the lobbies take 10 mins to find. And then survivors quit because they want to be their prestige player or want someone else to be support.

All I'm doing is looking at the peak and the current average.

That's not cherry picking if I didn't present an argument.

    ED?

Lobbies come to me in a minute or two.

You did present an argument, your argument is "Dbd player base is in a sharp decline." which you stated as a fact, despite the evidence you cited clearly going against your argument.

He didn't post those charts, and the person who did posted the yearly chart

  • Almost every killer, if not every killer, has a stinky meme addon, usually brown tier, that actively makes their power worse for more points; that's a good place to start.

There's also perk randomizers you can find online to give you random builds, which generally will not have any synergy.

Well, step one is 'not having unlocked bamboozle' (not that that would've done all that much in the Game), number two is 'not bringing those add-ons'.

isn't that kind of a weird question? "How could this thing have happened in a game since it wouldn't assuming you were running this specific build?"

to be fair bamboozle is from a free killer you can just earn

This post is from before the PTB patch notes. Nice timing on it though.

To be fair, it was the same day as the twitter teaser, but I figure that's pretty easy to miss.

  • Someone hasn't seen the new PTB patch notes 🤐

  • This thread summarized:

"Playing as doctor and making no effort to kill anyone and just shocking them for 2 hours is bannable."

"Patrolling a 3 gen and trying to win isn't bannable, though, as long as you're actually trying to win and not just stalling on purpose."

"Yeah, but playing as doctor and making no effort to kill anyone and just shocking them for 2 hours is bannable."

"Okay, but patrolling a 3 gen and trying to win isn't bannable, though, as long as you're actually trying to win and not just stalling on purpose."

    "Yeah, but..." etc.

  • yeah I think there's better perks if you're running it alone, but combined with other aura reading it's actually pretty great, running full aura reading builds is a lot of fun

    1. A survivor who DC's isn't a survivor who was killed. You didn't kill them, they could have DCd for any reason.
    2. When a survivor does DC, all remaining survivors are basically guaranteed to die as well.

So camping/slugging out the first survivor, forcing them to DC, and then effortlessly killing the remaining survivors would be a guaranteed adept.

There's no reason to count it as a kill. Adept is now stupidly easy, you have nothing to worry about. It's now easier than a survivor Adept.

It used to be so difficult it could take you 20, 40 games to get close to it, and to have that perfect game scuppered by a DC was infuriating. Now all you need to do is 4K, which you can do practically every other game. It simply doesn't matter anymore, as far as Adepts are concerned, that a DC robs you of a kill.

You can't "force" survivors to DC, they always have the choice whether or not they want to do it.

Most of the time when people DC, if that option wasn't there, they were already dead or simply would've AFK'd until they died anyway. "Oh, they disconnected the second before you hooked them on death hook, that doesn't count, bro, they weren't killed."

Camping/slugging/tunneling the first survivor... kills them. They aren't forced to DC, and if they don't DC, you've killed them anyway. It literally doesn't matter if they DC, they're going to die, they've already given up at this point which is why they're DCing.

There is every reason to count it as a kill and no reason not to count it as a kill. "Survivor got mad and ragequit" is not a valid reason to deny credit towards challenges/achievements.

If it doesn't matter, then it should be totally fine to make it count as a kill so players aren't robbed. You admit that it robs you, why would you advocate for more robbing? Do you think they should remove escape credit from DCs from the game?

It doesn't matter how difficult it is to get the achievement, there just is absolutely no legitimate reason for someone ragequitting to rob you of kill credit. Adepts are not the only thing in the game that runs off kill credit, plenty of challenges as well, plenty of documented occurrences of survivors intentionally ragequitting, knowing fully well they were going to die anyway, specifically only for the purpose of denying a killer a challenge.

  • @Seraphor said:

I don't see a fair way of giving killer kill credit for DCs. Frankly, the changes this patch are enough. Killer Adepts will now be much, much easier. So what if the odd survivor DC scuppers your chances of an Adept that particular game? You're bound to get it within 5 games at the very least due to MM putting you with potatoes as much as SWF.

what about killers getting kill credit for DCs is "unfair"? do you have even a single reason they shouldn't get kill credit for any an all survivor DCs? especially when survivors already get escape credit for killer DCs. if the survivor had gone AFK it would count as a kill, or even if they DC on hook it counts as a kill sometimes, but for some reason if they clicked a button that means it shouldn't count as a kill now?

  • @TheWheelOfCheese said:

Killers also ruin adepts by DCing, so at least the idiocy is symmetric.

No, if the killer quits it counts as an escape. But if the survivor quits it doesn't count as a kill. Nonsensical.

    @DashMonsta008XV said:

Like I personally don't want nothing free but why would they add that to other platforms but not lower the number for skilled huntress, how unfair is that

I prefer to escape the normal way, it's only happened three times and the only ones that ,I suspect that are DC survivor mains playing killer there's no reason for a killer to DC as host we still receive points and pips and may even get the high caliber survivor

why did you make 4 posts about things he didn't even say?

Ok look, I’m not gonna argue about it. Take it how you want, I simply gave a suggestion many people could benefit from. You wanna tunnel, tunnel. You don’t, then don’t. Everything is a conscious decision.

you may as well say it's a conscious decision to get camped on hook, when survivors can bodyblock you and force you to tunnel them :)

  • @HugTechLover said:

Give BBQ the blood point bonus back, but if any survivor is hooked twice in a row, you lose a permanent token.

Can’t say it would work for all tunnelers, but it would help.

So you mean to tell me that Artist, Sadako, and Dredge- all of which are very polarising killers and two of whom (Sadako and Dredge) a large portion of the community have called weak- Sadako more than Dredge- are all actually perfectly balanced killers, and were released in a perfect state?

Despite Sadako's ongoing VFX issues with those with photosensitivity, Dredge being literally impossible for myself and other players to deal with without causing immense headaches (to the point where I had to get prescription-level pain killers by my desk just in case I faced a Dredge, when I haven't needed them in over a deacade prior to that), and Artist being called "boring" and "dull" by Survivor and Killer players alike, they're perfect? Despite Dredge being an Anniversary chapter with a very slim playerbase, Sadako only really having one playstyle that puts everyone involved to sleep, and Artist having approximately one and a half good add-ons, they're all perfect?

    Sure.

What would I do? Read here.

    Dude... TLDR.

lol it is imo, the only reason why this is considered a normal thing is because devs gain money from it (otherwise perks like kindred, alert, spine chill, premonition, etc etc wouldn't exist in the 1st place). i never said that being in a SWF is an autowin but surely it will improve/boost your chances of survive, don't put words that i never used in my mounth, thanks.

i know that swf will never be removed (sadly), i said those things in a ideal scenario, in order to improve the experience of the playerbase overall speaking.

You are denying what i said because you are biased, only SWF players will defend in that way this "feature", while solo players such myself would be happy to see it gone in pub matches

strawman argument from what i see from you... just for the fact that you think that SWF and solo can be brought to a similar level despite i provided examples that told us the contrary is hilarious. Also if you think that it's a "skill issue" if i'm complaining about those teams make me laugh and make your point even more worthless (you are judging my abilities without even seeing a single match, just because i said something that annoy you, nuff said)... you see, there's a difference between playing for winning and playing for chilling ya know... the main problem about swf is that i'm forced to use nasty and unfunny tactics for everyone in order to have some chances of winning: do you really think that i enjoy tunneling and camping everytime that i found those kind of teams (or they enjoy that kind of gameplay)? Please, you know literally nothing about me, my matches or my mmr. In the case you think that those types of games should be the norm in dbd then you are asking for unfun matches for everyone

not really anything to do with money, just that they want people to actually play their game lmao

being in a SWF does not in fact give you the power of alert, spine chill, or premonition, though premonition is a total training wheels perk and honestly a remnant of old DbD I feel like because it's just not very useful

definitely a good thing SWF still exists

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3305967#Comment_3305967

cause this is really all there is to it. Making him a chaser on top of his ability to control areas of a map is ridiculous. Not to mention not every killer has to be a chaser. (Then again; chase killers are more fun, imo. So I'd be perfectly alright with removing area control and reworking him into a chase one)

to buff anything about him to make him half decent lol

his area control isn't strong enough for it to be his only thing, either it needs to be better or he needs buffs somewhere else

  • @Little_Kitten said:

I am always surprised that some people are extremely critical of SWFs🤔

Basically, "SWF" is just "having fun with your friends" ... how is having fun with your friends wrong? 🤔

People will tell me: "SWFs are much stronger and/or have an advantage over SoloQs".

Well, in that case, give SoloQs additional ways to get information, in the form of graphical elements included in the HUD 😉

And in this way it will be possible to buff (more or less, depending on the case) some of the weaker killers 😊

And don't forget that SWF =/= power.

If you put in voice 4 people, with the best perks / items / addons / offerings, on Ormond / Garden of Joy ... if they have the level of mastery of a potato ... in voice or not, they will not go far 🤣

And even in teams of 4 that play vocal, it is quite common to find 1 or 2 weak links, which are easier to fall, if necessary 😉

yeah, SWF doesn't make you skilled, it's just a "skill enhancer" persay, to have so much information

like let's say knowing all this stuff makes you 30% stronger, 0 skill + 30% is still 0 skill 😋

  • @Tostapane said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3303441#Comment_3303441

no it's not... it's still present in the game, but it can't be abused anymore like before (things like the new moon bouquet and other retired offerings are essentially removed from the game because they aren't available even in custom for example)... wanna play with friends? that's fine, no problems, but you'll play with a killer that is also your friend, period. As i stated above (both at you and to another guy that disliked my thought about SWF) i told the reasons of my statement, MORE THAN VALID POINTS i might add... you are free to think otherwise, but the facts that i've mentioned aren't undeniable: solo and SWF won't EVER BE TO THE SAME POWER LEVEL, hence why SWF should be a feature present only in custom matches

That's not really how it works, sorry. SWF is not a chest code nor an exploit, it's not the auto-ein you make it sound like either. With enough changes to the game, solo Q can at least become pretty close to SWF in power level. That is the real solution. Then you can see killer get buffed accordingly, and SWF won't be an issue anymore, killer will be equipped to deal with them.

Removing SWF would be one of the stupidest possible things they could do, and there's a 0% chance they'll ever do it. It doesn't even matter if it would be "healthy" for the game, they simply aren't going to.

You're right, the things you mentioned AREN'T undeniable. That's why I'm denying them.

Solo and SWF can be brought to a very similar power level at the very least. The game shouldn't crucify you for wanting to play it with a friend, and if you're that salty about getting 0ks that you think otherwise, I feel bad for you.

Yeah and I explained why those perks need to be nerfed in those threads, it's not because they take any skill to use, unlike the nurse.

If you don't think I'm good then PLEASE invite me to a custom game :').

...they aren't even good perks, dude. lmfao

Whispers is absolutely not even slightly close to strong enough that it demands a nerf. I can't think of a time I've even seen anyone use it in years. I used to love it myself, but I've stopped using it because it just isn't very strong when you can run aura reading or things like Discordance.

And it actually does require skill to use, you have to understand how to comprehend and make use of the information it's giving you (which isn't much).

Lethal Pursuer doesn't need nerfed either, and your nerf suggestions may as well have been "remove it from the game" lmfao

I don't remember what else you complained about, but I remember all of it was just silly. The thread you made about Knight's ultra rare blocking the gate was one of the funniest things I've read in a while.

You said you've started playing within the last month anyway, between that and your threads, that's proof enough.

  • I've had these problems before, but it always gets fixed when I verify integrity

  • @OrangeBear said:

Yes. When the exit gates are powered killers should get access to a large, devastating weapon mech. A basic attack will put any survivor in range into the dead state.

A killer that can get into a mecha (or is a mecha) would be sick as hell actually, maybe some kind of Terminator-like robot killer, and as the match goes on they can gather scrap and once they have enough they can build their mech and be greatly empowered for a while

  • @Emelyne said:

    Ps4....

And as i said i know about the checks, but since i came back to the game today, everytime i check, the gen still explode.

Its like if there was a perk where if we dont precisely check on the exact spot like we need to do sometimes, but now its like that All the time so i cant even play.

Was there a new perk added for killers where survivors not only have to check, but to check the super precise little bar thats within the check??

If so is there a survivor perk to counter it???

    Because its permanent.

I gtg sleep right now but ill be checking back here tommorrow.

    Thank you very much.

So you're saying the explosion specifically happens when you get skill checks, and it happens every single time you get a skill check?

  • Easy fix: Don't die. 😉

  • you still have like a week to earn the skin, if that helps

  • @Aceislife said:

Nurse does not require a nerf. Nurse requires actual skill to play well. Different playstyle to play as, and against her.

It doesn't matter how much skill a killer requires to play, they don't suddenly become balanced just because they're hard to play.

    @daniel_owenz said:

As a person who mains killer, NOED and the perk that blocks the gate for a whole minute should be removed from the game, I'm not even asking for a nerf, just get rid of those participation trophy perks. You can honestly play the worst most trashiest killer in the game and these perks will give them free kills even if they haven't hooked anyone.

you've made like 8 threads complaining about mediocre killer addons/perks and claiming you know exactly how the game should be changed because you're 'super high MMR' though you've only played "for a few weeks". i don't think anything you say can be taken seriously, you may as well be wearing a clown outfit

    @Tostapane said:

even in that case the power of solo survivor will never match the one that SWF have for a couple of simple reasons:

1 you can't organize well your team since each one will take whatever they want (going from perks, offering, items to tome challenges and dailies. Essentially each one will have a personal goal to accomplish no matter what while in a swf the entire team can set up their goals, from rushing gens to do some particular challenges or just memeing/trolling around)

2 you don't know how the others play: in a swf everyone already know what to do, not to mention that you can actually made an entire group of expert loopers, while randoms even with voice chat won't have this privilege (people that aren't even able to run simple tiles and that literally will stuck themself into objects once hitted the 1st time for example)

i never said that SWF should be erased from the game, but it shouldn't be allowed to exist in regular/pub matches, only in customs, or at least not without having some limitations like the ones present in the tournaments (you can't pick up map offerings, you can't pick up the same character with the same skin, you can't take the same perks, etc etc). btw you think that the playerbase will be hitted hard if they would limit swf uh? well, that's your opinion/theory, not a fact. Unless this will actually happen, we will never know if you could have right or not... regarding the nurse she need to be reworked for sure, but actually there are things more concerning to be looked at imo.

regular matches are the only actual real matches, making something "only allowed in customs" is erasing it from the game.

  • Bring Built to Last, Incapacitated doesn't stop you from repairing your toolbox in a locker. 😁

  • @Tostapane said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/358902/why-dont-the-devs-give-us-an-rework-update-on-nurse

before reworking the nurse they should relegate SWF in custom matches, then balance the game around normal killers, in that way you can safely rework the nurse, putting her on line with the rest of the roster... but we both know that this will never happen so...

of course that would never happen, that would be incredibly stupid of them to basically remove SWF from the game. the population would take a huge hit, and sure, I guess that would fix Nurse since nobody would be there to play against her

the real actual solution is giving solo Q information that's roughly on par with SWF so they can buff killers to compete against this new survivor power level

  • @Ryuhi said:

Its not a matter of making him purposely weak, its making him purposely safe. If there's anything survivors hate, its "not having counterplay" to any given mechanic, because many of them think of the game as being a series of 1v1's vs the killer instead of a 1v4. Thus the knight was designed with almost every single aspect of his power leaving less surprises for the survivors than the killer himself, and the obvious anti-anti-loop strategy of just running away from the loop when he's setting up became the obvious and boring solution every time he stabs his sword down. He basically has the counterplays vs both spirit and artist while having none of their strengths, so he only ends up being good at using his power for LCD strats like camping hooks and 3 gens (which he ends up disproportionately good at, to both sides' frustrations.)

They were so unwilling to take risks with his power at the thought of it being oppressive in practice that it ended up being both boring and oppressive at specifically already oppressive scenarios.

wow thats a lot, I think the most i've gotten is around 60-70 k I think.. Did you use a purple blood point bonus? I never use those because i still suck and don't want to waste them. lol

the only purple bp bonus items are addons for hag and myers, and they just make up for the BP you aren't getting because they change the power

if you want a lot of BP, bring a 100% BP item like escape cake/survivor pudding, bloody party streamers, anniversary cakes, etc

and additionally you should aim for whatever role currently gets matchmaking incentive, that alone can double your BP

just between those two you're getting triple BP

they also made the new BP cap in each match go up to 40k, and additionally you get a ton of points from event bonuses (glacial hook/glacial generators, anything involving snowmen), AND right now there's 50% extra BP from the bloodrush

and of course you wanna do your dailies and challenges but that goes without saying really

You can't bank 1 bil unfortunately, the cap is 2 mil.

they infinitely respawn and there's a bunch, you can just get out

and if your aim is to escape with one you can just wait until endgame to get in one

Also - not trying to be nasty here - but literally everything you post seems to be relentlessly negative and sarcastic. If you're not having fun with DbD, why not look for another hobby?

wow you really weren't kidding, literally all he does is rage

He's got a point though, you know? The devs literally made a campy killer and you are asking them not to use it for that?

at what point did the devs tell you to use the knight for camping?

he is objectively worse at camping than bubba anyway, lol

"The system can’t tell between a rage quit or bad internet."

    That's really pathetic....

only if you have never played a video game before

I typed this out in a different topic but decided to make a new topic on it:

"Notice the common trend in all of the Knight bugs: They have to do with orb, for some reason, being treated as Knight's location, instead of where he actually is.

Devour Hope and Make Your Choice still proccing despite Knight being right next to hook (Monstrous Shrine as well, apparently), the infinite orb movement speed bug that Knight could do, and now, apparently, Knight being able to GRAB people while in orb form.

For some reason, BHVR coded Knight's power to be like... Spirit's, I guess? Because these same bugs are completely normal if you do the same thing as Spirit.

Spirit actually has a very rare add-on that allows her to teleport back to her husk, I'm becoming convinced that BHVR straight up copy and pasted the code from Spirit and used it on Knight. Every bug makes sense if this is the case."

So, BHVR not only lazied out on the power design by making another shift+w Killer, they took the easy route and copied and pasted code as well. Icing on the cake of an already bad chapter release. LMAO

Some sources for those who want em:

Exploit: The Knight is able to face camp while using anti-camp perks if channeling ability. — Dead By Daylight

PC - Knight's orb grabbing survivors — Dead By Daylight

the links don't work, they just send you to the home page. just like every forum link on google, unfortunately, so you can't look at any old discussions

  • An iconic older killer like Jack the Ripper could be cool I suppose, but generally considering they are just regular guys, I don't think a chapter introducing someone like Jeffrey Dahmer could be at all interesting, they would have to change them up so much to make them interesting that they may as well pick something else that's already interesting instead of trying to force it.

48h ban for "DC" even tho i didnt rage quit or something for once... it just kicked me cuz of bad internet connection...i have good ping but internet is not stable.. what am i supposed to do ...i play like 5ish games.. and all good and then i get connection lost..

"didn't rage quit or something FOR ONCE..."

    That's why.

"What am I supposed to do..."

    Stop ragequitting.

    @RunningMan said:

they could make system that recognise DC when u leave the game byurself ..basically ragequitting ... or by internet cause

Doesn't work that way. You can't determine with 100% certainty why the game was left, and there will always be a way for people to ragequit and bypass that system. So you're either hitting every DC or you're hitting none of them. In this game where disconnecting almost always ruins the match, it has to be every DC. It doesn't matter if your internet was the problem, you still screwed your teammates.

i think OP is talking about AFK / Bot killer. its really hard to avoid depipping with afk killer.

If the killer is AFK or a bot, you can literally just do the gens and leave, they aren't stopping you by any means.

  • killswitched because they weren't actually giving any bloodpoints

Lol if you can’t tell the killer is using a snowman that’s more of a you problem lol..

I have not seen a game yet where a killers has bin able to use of a snowman, seen them try the fact they can only M1 out screws them over more then it helps

they also get slowed pretty tremendously, snowman movespeed is slower than survivor running speed

Knight's power doesn't work. That's why people try to find situations where they can get out on top with his power. Sadly camping is the Knight's biggest strength. Everything else is just a weaker version of other killers' powers.

Though camping, tunneling and slugging are no exploits, mind you.

Camping with him is a weaker version of other killers too, Bubba does the job way better. Hillbilly too.

In regards to this post; thank you to some who have offered tips. Some things I just genuinely didn't gather about the Knight, which is fine and I'll attempt to use them.

As for exploits, obviously there's some discourse about the definition in this thread. Call it an exploit don't call it an exploit, I would assume people understood what I meant by it. Exploit just feels a lot easier to say rather than 'using a game mechanic to the detriment of the game'. Which is what the Knight does.

Also, I agree there is a huge skill-play issue with killers, for example, this problem doesn't even exist with 'the twins' because it is much harder to operate. I've never found an issue with the twins. But, now why would anyone ever play the twins when they can just play the knight, someone who is much easier to 'use a game mechanic to the detriment of the game'.

My main issues with this is the environment that the knight has been creating. And now, has been much more than just a few games. It's the point of -- people are not going to take players off the hook anymore because the knight camps them while spam-sending his guards to areas around. It becomes the easiest way to camp because you can still get hits on other players outside of the knight himself.

Further, it's up for debate whether this is survivor sided or killer sided and I guess it does depend on the situation. If there's a party of 4 survivors? Sure, I guess it's much easier to be a survivor than a killer. But a solo-Q survivor with 3 other solo Q's? Jeez.... killer sided, but depends on the killer again. As I've said, I've played killer, and if there's 3 killers that I can say I comfortably win with every single time unless I let some players live, its legion, the wraith, ghost face. Those 3 are consistently the easiest and best killers to use if you want to win. When it's those killers, it's killer sided HEAVY.

All 3 of those killers you mentioned are like, C tier killers. They're okay, but they don't tend to do well against good survivors. If you want a killer that makes a match "killer sided HEAVY", look at Nurse or Blight.

    @gchiasson said:

And just another comment as I read the rest on this post; guess the knight doesn't necessarily need a nerf, but the problems that persist while playing the knight need a nerf. I can win against the knight, a lot of you are right, he isn't a strong killer per se, but he does ruin the game. So long as the knights I've been playing it seems, even if it is just one person on the hook, once you are on, the game feels over for you. I've been on the hook and stayed on the hook until death, cutting my game short and no-fun at all, and I've also survived while he's camped others on the hook, leaving their games no fun and mine too

People feel forced to rely on crappy, but fairly reliable, strategies to secure any amount of kills on the Knight because he isn't very good. Ironically, making him better would likely reduce the amount of camping people do with him. If it seems like there's hope to get more than one kill, people won't camp (unless they're just being toxic, but you could just play Bubba and that would be better and easier).

He's right, they're only free wins in low MMR against newer players who scream in real life when a killer comes out of stealth.
