If you're able to close the hatch it's pretty much gg for the survivor though. 32m away from the door is enough to know if the survivor is there or at the other. Unless they have Wake-Up.

For sure, lol. You have to really screw up as killer to lose the gate game with whispers. In that scenario, the best chance the last guy has is hatch.

That's kinda the point, because it makes tunneling impossible, which i'd argue killers who aren't the top 3 probably have to do on some level. So it is intentional to basically "put the survivor on timeout" for a bit.

It's an interesting idea, but I feel like it would annoy both sides for different reasons. Eruption has already shown that survivors HATE the incapacitated status effect. On the other hand killers completely losing all ways of tracking survivors, just to find out there was an invisible survivor crossing the map to go to a generator they assumed wasn't being worked on... can feel frustrating. Just tossing in my 2 cents though.

Not true, my proposed solution fixes the issue and is not exploitable by survivors:

    • Remove the endurance and speed boost survivors get when unhooked.
    • Create a new status effect that survivors get when unhooked called "Ethereal" for 20 seconds
    • Ethereal: While Ethereal, the survivor gains the following:
      • The survivor is completely invisible to the killer
      • The survivor makes no sound to the killer
      • The survivor makes no scratch marks
      • The survivor does not have collision with the killer or other survivors
      • The survivor moves at 200% movement speed
      • The survivor is unable to perform any action
      • The survivor is UNABLE to see totems, hooks, the killer, or any killer belongings (trapper traps, hag traps, etc.)
      • The survivor can see the aura of all other survivors
      • All perks are temporarily deactivated (except for new perks that might be made to work with this mechanic later)
      • Deactivates in endgame
    • Fix facecamping by making hooks work like PH cages, if you facecamp near them, they move to a different hook that is close to a teammate and far from the killer, giving that teammate enough time to save before the killer gets there, and the person unhooked gets "ethereal"

Basically, the status effect gives the survivor Spirit's power for 20 seconds, but lets them see the aura of the other survivors, so they can run to a teammate and get healed but they basically can't do anything else. After this, you would probably need to do some buffs to killers as a whole, as now hard tunneling is extremely difficult as is camping, and the lower tier ones will need some help.

I feel like many survivors would actually see this as a nerf. Not being able to do anything useful except healing for 20 seconds can be rough, especially against killers you wouldn't bother healing against anyways. Plague would be laughing.

Some Basekit-Mechanic would make more sense. However, this is harder to implement.

DS being buffed to 5 seconds again would not be the ultimate solution. But it would be a Anti-Tunnel tool which does not resolve around Endurance. And when DS was a thing, there was less tunneling. Because the current Anti-Tunnel measurements are just not good enough.

That's what I'm getting at though. I don't think we'll ever get to a point where people will be satisfied with the anti-tunneling mechanics as long as tunneling is possible. No matter how fair things might be for the 4V1 aspect, if people feel likes it's unfair on the 1V1 aspect because the killer chased them too much, they'll claim the anti-tunneling isn't good enough.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

Of course Killers wanted it to be back to the original stun time. Because it is meaningless.

And saying that DS deserver to be at 3 second (which it was when it was in its strongest state) when it

    • activates only when unhooked
    • deactivates when you do ANYTHING to progress the game
    • deactivaties when all Gens are done

    is really wrong.

3 seconds on a busted Perk is fine. 3 seconds on a Perk with that many restrictions is too low.

I was just correcting your statement of "nobody asked for reduced stun time". Whether it is strong enough in its current state is a whole different conversation. Either way, are you saying the correct way to strengthen anti-tunneling mechanic is to rely on perks? That the built In mechanics are fine how they are and the correct route would be to buff specificly DS? That if you STILL get tunneled out of the game after a 69 second stun, you'd say "yup, this is fine...no more buffs needed"?

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3545297#Comment_3545297

DS being meaningful again by having a stun time of 5 seconds for example. Current DS only provides 7 meters of distance and usually Killers dont really care about DS anymore.

And nobody asked for reducing the stun time anyway, most people wanted it to deactivate in Endgame, which was enough as a Nerf.

The stun time was reduced to its original time, which was always the plan. It got increased originally so enduring didn't COMPLETELY make it useless. They changed enduring, then changed DS back to its original value. You have to PURPOSEFULLY be not looking to not find ppl asking for the change to go back to the original DS stun time. It was being repeated pretty obnoxiously.

Ah yes, forcing the Killer to count to 10. My favorite Anti-Tunnel System.

Anti-Tunnel in DBD is very, very weak since everything resolves around Endurance. One it and everything is gone.

What else can they do that won't just make people immortal though?

  • Feel like the devs kinda missed the point entirely on why no one uses furtive chase. You could raise the max tokens to 100 and it wouldn't matter...

  • There's already an anti-tunnel system with the built in endurance. I doubt they're gonna make a survivor completely immortal until XYZ happens if that's what you mean.

I personnally wouldn't have minded if BHVR had fixed the bug and tried out 2.0m/s, but I understand that they skipped it considering most people who pulled out the math and comparisons to go on and on about how it was too much didn't take the bug into account. I'm aware most people don't play the PTB but I still think the initial feedback not complaining about 1.2m/s definitely played a part in BHVR deciding it was fine and not risk survivors being angry Xeno being too strong until the next patch by trying out 2.0.

I don't know if 2.0 would have been fine (although I honestly doubt it), but I'm assuming Xeno was overperforming and if its killrate drops too low they'll change it again.

I'm just looking at basic math with holding W. Assuming no movement speed buffs for either side, you'd gain 6 meters against a 2.0 speed xeno, which takes 10 seconds to close. That's 13 seconds of extra time for each miss. Your telling me that's not enough?

  • @BlueRose said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3543684#Comment_3543684

On top of that some ppl, like myself, dont even bother with the ptb bc of the long queue times. Im not going to wait 30 mins to play one match as a killer. Most ppl who play ptb are either streamers who do killer with friends or ppl who really dont mind the long wait time. Also judging a killer strength in a ptb is kind iffy bc there is no mmr in matchmaking. Ppl who thought xeno is a high A in ptb most likely went against survivors way below their skill set.

The thought I'm having about the "sudden outcry" is alot of console players who can't play PTB are going to be affected by this harsher. They are more likely to miss attacks and this change is specifically about missing attacks. The complaint about survivors not making any distance upon a miss is a valid one, but simply fixing the bug would've addressed that.

Survivors can make 6 meters of distance in that 3 second window against a 2.0 killer, which then requires 10 seconds to close if the survivor just holds W... assuming normal movement speeds. That's PLENTY. That addresses the concern.

  • @Annso_x said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3543453#Comment_3543453

It was also an odd choice for BHVR to buff something nobody had a problem with (even more so when that thing caused issues with multiple killers), but it's even weirder for killers to pretend like Xeno is suddenly terrible when this was such a non-issue killers complained about this being buffed instead of Xeno's add-ons.

In all fairness to that, not everyone plays PTB. It's not available on console and not even all PC players mess with it. This isn't a case of "Killer players were fine BEFORE" because your just talking about a small percentage. People on console are alot more likely to be affected by this change.

The thing is this doesn't feel like a nerf from 2.0 to 1.2. This feels like a nerf from 4.6 to 1.2. Alot of ppl are just saying to at least give that 2.0 a try.

They will be coming. The only time I can think of where BHVR show us new features but don't impliment them in an upcoming update is some developer updates or the anniversary streams.

There was the PTB with basekit Unbreakable and a mori finish if you down all 4 ppl. That never got integrated.

  • @Annso_x said:

Xeno was just reverted to its PTB state, where no one complained about the punishment being too much. You guys just think it's awful because you got used to the bugged + buffed version.

Wouldn't it be the same for Whispers? It's not a direct notification but it gives you an idea where a survivor is.

Kinda sorta... The thing with Whispers is it detects the slugged survivor too. This means if the last survivor is close when you down his teammate, you'll have a hard time finding him with Whispers. Maps like The Game make this even more true since Whispers will be on most of the time.

Oh and that myers game I lost it because they healed too many times. So yes healing is still bad for it.

It's a balancing act of how many times you hit them-how many times they heal. If you used Myers t3 to 1 shot them... that counts as 1 hit.

  • @Deathstroke said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3543056#Comment_3543056

Maybe there is gap then how many you points you can earn by hitting? I kept hitting/slugging last 2 players one game dozen of times so I though I would get it and let them go at the end. Seems too hooks are very critical on this and you at least need 3K. I had total 8 hooks that game I think one gave up.

Because slugging doesn't help... If they heal from dying state, THAT counts as healing. Slugging puts them in a position to heal 2 health states. Hooking only allows them to heal 1 health state once them get unhooked.

  • The healing doesn't really hurt you as much as you think. Every time they heal, it just means you can hit them more times. This category DOES get hampered by quick games though. If someone dies on first hook... you barely got any points out of them.

Whether they get unhooked and stay injured, or unhooked and healed... it's still better for your points than if you only hit them 2 times and they die on first hook. Them getting unhooked means they have another health state for you to remove that WASNT because of healing.

If you are for example down on 2 suv 1gen.

One survivor is trying to get you away from the gen, while the other is doing the gen. So if you down the last survivor and you just check the gen you have a very high chance to catch the last suv.

Often you catched them together so you also know on which gen they were working on

If you can down 1 guy, look over and see the scratch marks of his retreating teammate... sure, go for it. If you CANT, hook the guy and start the hatch game. That 99.9999% gen doesn't matter at that point. The last guy isn't going to finish it and give away his position if he has no more teammates.

So if the killer Slugs you for 30sec to kill the last one and get the 4k its "lame". But if you slug yourself for 4 Minutes to avoid him getting the BP (because you cannot deny him the 4k) its somehow a resonable thing?

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3537514#Comment_3537514

As killer i never try to slug suv. for 4 minutes, but often at the end and only 3 gen left i mostly know where the last 2 survivors are soa after i down 1 suv i go quick there and down the 2nd one, hook him before i come back to the first surv. to hook him.

So i try to make it as fast as possible. But often in that time the first suv. tried to crouch away and slug himself for 4minutes.

And before we misunderstand, i really dont mind that mutch if you slug yourself for 4 minutes. It just surprised me when i saw in a youtube video that "sluging" is from some people considered toxic.

Yes, basically it's pretty lame. Unless you can see the last survivor or something like a missed skillcheck gave away their location... it's pretty lame. You can argue that patrolling the gens more will hopefully find them, but ultimately your doing what others are stating and scouring the map LOOKING rather than entering a chase. The downed survivor can tell the difference when you run off in a direction away from the teammate they can see the aura of.

  • Hex: Thrill of the hunt- Just straight up makes hexes uncleansable just like 5 stacks of pentamento

  • @Crowman said:

Hatch isn't really a fair mechanic, but it's also one that has to exist otherwise you just get situations where both sides are just waiting for the other to give up.

Basically a necessary evil, because NOT having it would be far worse. Back during OLD hatch, every so often I would have games where I stomped a team so hard that hatch wouldn't spawn. Finding that last survivor was a chore.

This screenshot triggers memories. Self care being meta, keys being more common, that post game background, alternative masks for Leatherface. Oof.

The Leatherface masks were a running joke for me. It was basically the John Cena joke where I'd claim the Smart Face mask basically turns him invisible.

Matches like this one though were frustrating because you'd patrol gens trying to find someone, just to see them all escape out the hatch on the half of the map that you would have no reason to patrol. I'm like... Outplayed I guess?

  • Old hatch was rough... I was browsing some old screenshots yesterday and stumbled across an endgame chat where 3 ppl got out via hatch at 1 gen left and complained that I was camping gens.

    USA488C0TJSX.jpg

  • It's honestly the other way around. Killers have the advantage there (rightfully so) because they can traverse the map faster. It's also not JUST about finding the hatch. Any tracking perk that helps you find the SURVIVOR is a huge help. Survivors having to avoid the killer tends to slow down their search speed.

As far as keys and the perk left behind... They're very rarely seen. Most ppl would rather bring stuff that works abit more often than in cases where your entire team is dead except you. A key in lobby is practically announcing to your team that yes... you WILL watch them die on hook so you can go ahead and look for hatch.

  • @Crowman said:

Are you really comparing Spies from Shadows which is dependent on crow spawns to a perk that detects all survivors in your TR for the next 30 seconds (so you can move around and find survivors)?

I think ultimate weapon having survivors scream in lockers should be changed even if the devs don't see it as a bug and it would at least have the bare min counterplay that all scream related perks have.

Yes... that's exactly what I'm saying. It's OK crowman, I'm not trying to get Spies nerfed. We can share the glory of the crows with everyone.

  • @MikeStev said:

You really wrong if you compare Spies from Shadow with Ultimate Weapon

    - Spies From Shadow only active if survivor scare a crow, Ultimate Weapon active for 30s and range 32 meter (terror radius).

    - The only thing killer need to do to activate Ultimate Weapon is open a locker and with Dredge update there a lot of locker added to the game.

    - Crow usually spawn at corner map and survivor can counter it with crouch.

    - Ultimate Weapon still active when survivor inside a locker

The range thing is kinda wrong. You were right that UW is your TR, but that's not always 32 meters. You're gonna have iffy results with a stealth killer, or even just a killer like Huntress that has a small TR.

Those birds though... those go off a crap ton, lol. Try playing a game or 2 with Spies, the value is real. Yeah, your not gonna be notified of EVERY survivor around, but you can't chase in 4 separate directions anyways and the amount of notifications you'll get from Spies will be drastically more on any given match, even if you spam UW every minute.

  • @Venusa said:

Because Spies from the Shadow doesn't reveal your exact location like UW does...?

I started the game with messages on and I also got nice comments but I got a few very bad once also if I played a killer people don't like so I switched to no messages. I can live without the nice messages and just focus on playing the game nothing else that is how I like it but as I said if you after the game could just say GG or WP that would be nice, like two buttons you could press. But it's no big deal.

I feel like there's more PC trashtalking because it's in the game itself. No extra steps needed. Trash talking on console requires extra effort, and it's not even possible on switch.

I'm happy I have Xbox with messages turned off it's such a joy to just play the game. But would be nice to be able to say Gg after every game and still never get complaints back.

Because when using a new killer your MMR is low for them, yes it's realistic that many of them are bad.

If there is a problem, and it's a small one, is that a couple of Xeno's add ons really reduce the effect of the turrets and likely need a tweak.

Not sure if they're going to nerf it further. The only addon that really affects turrets was already nerfed from how it was in its PTB version as well as made rarer. If anything, they might end up fixing a bug which currently allows turrets to tank M1 hits, making them even weaker than how they currently are.

  • I was actually saying this during the PTB. Would Xeno more or less take Wesker's spot as most used killer?

Deliberate bleedouts, nope, that's on you. Loser with fragile ego definetely not guilty.

I was commenting on the title where OP said they bled out in the corner

  • Did you crawl to a corner to hide? I feel like if you put yourself there so the killer can't find you or so you were too far from the closest hook... that's kinda on you, at least in part.
