  • I find it odd how many people don't like Dredge. I main him and I like vsing him. I like vsing Unknown. I also like Singularity, but I think he suffers from the same issue as Xeno and Pinhead where if your team isn't interacting with the killers power at all (singularity's wands/xenos turrets/Pinheads box) they're really strong/annoying to vs. You can't stop mid chase and plop a turret or pick up a wand or stop the box. You have to rely on your team to help you and if they don't, chases tend to end quickly.

I think I dislike Legion and Clown the most currently. I don't want to not like any killer, but there's certain small things I personally dislike about many of them. I can even like vsing a killer, but not like when they do certain things.

I love vsing Bubba even though he's an insta downer. It's fun to loop him even if you lose. It's *not* fun to vs a Bubba that just wants to camp and has no intention of letting you get an iota away from unhook IF you can even get unhooked. They often are able to even down the rescuer and redown the unhooked in the same sweep. Although this isn't something only Bubba is capable of, it's made a lot easier for him with his power.

I don't mind vsing Pinhead, but he's annoying as all get out on console where everything is the same button and you're getting hit by 50 chains even without the addons that create more chains on environment break, etc.

I don't mind huntress, but dead by hit box doesn't feel great. You'll be physically around a corner and go down because your butt was peeking, I guess.

I'm not a big fan of anything that hinders movement. Clown and Freddy in particular, but when you DO see Freddy they usually use fake pallets (which can also be a little annoying).

Legion is just mend simulator and I dislike when his speed (in power) is used to block you from using the only thing that was available (wraith is also guilty of this), but that's a smaller qualm.

Ghostface being able to tbag behind cover for half a second to reset you breaking him out constantly, yet he keeps his stalk on you and that's even if it's letting you break him out. I feel like there should be some way to reduce that and do away with the 99'd issue where you didn't even know you were because he was on a roof somewhere earlier in the match and mid chase you just go down before you even hear him go into cloak because the moment he switches he's able to mark you. There's no counterplay to that.

You must be really bad at survivor since you think they're weak. Survivors that know what they're doing and how to properly work together are the power role in this game. Survivor perks are more powerful than most killer perks, and even the strongest killer perks can be disabled by just cleansing totems.

You complain about killers crying about DS, what about all the survivors crying about Spirit, Nurse, Freddy, BBQ, NOED, Tunneling and Camping. Fact of the matter is that both sides equally complain about things. It's not just isolated to one side, and you believing it to be one sided shows you don't play killer and have no idea how it is more difficult than playing survivor.

Everything that happened to survivor needed to happen. If it didn't the game would have died several years ago from the lack of killers. Survivor game play hasn't changed much. Maps are still designed to give the survivors every advantage in a chase. 3 gens can pop before the killer gets one hook. You still have perks to help speed up gen repairs along with tool boxes, which are still very useful if you're honest.

Also, killers had their fair share of nerfs. Ruin, Pop, Undying, Hillybilly, Nurse, Spirit (who will probably get another nerf with all the complaints), Freddy who is on the chopping block, and plenty more.

The game in the current state is the most balanced it's ever been.

Just thought I'd point out how hypocritical your statement here is. You apparently, and a lot of others that mainly play killer and come here for the echo chamber, say both sides have issues that need to be addressed.. and then continue by saying survivor players basically have no right to complain about anything because it's harder to play killer.. that's how you see it, and you have every right to believe what you want based on your experience, but that doesn't mean anyone who's opinion differs is inherently wrong.

Instead of listening to complaints and trying to legitimately figure out what's really wrong and how things could be made better, you complain that they just don't know how to play like so many people do to squash dissenting opinions (because that at all helps the game get better for everyone involved, right?). That any survivor ever that has any qualms at all is just bad at the game, not that there are legitimate issues that need to be resolved. Every last one. Come on, man, at least be honest.

News flash, but not everyone sees it that way. In fact a lot of people, myself, included, find playing killer to be generally easier and definitely more rewarding (literally) save for those times, that are few and far in between, where you face a decently coordinated SWF which aren't as common as y'all act like they are. In fact altruism typically cripples them.

There are far too many variables to say, objectively, that one side is better off than the other, yet y'all come here to perpetuate that killer is the hardest role in the game, consistently. I'd beg to differ and say solo que survivor is, but I digress.

A killer can have a game where the survivors do 0-1 gens because they're getting face camped/tunneled by a killer with insta down abilities in a dead zone, yet somehow even though almost nothing happened the killer makes 23k+ BP where the most a survivor makes is 5k. I use this example because it literally JUST happened, and it consistently happens.

In fact, every single game since the update with the new killer, people have been increasingly scummy for no reason. A lot of games ending up with a 4k at 4-5 gens because of insta downs, ya know, like getting iri huntress five times in a row just to get a doctor with the new killers insta down perk (which is atrocious given the size of his terror radius, encompassing some maps) and a Ghostface with insta expose addons and you know how breaking him out always goes, because it doesn't build up so all he has to do is dip for half a second and you can't expose him. 🙄

Also is it just me or is there something wrong with stuns, more so than before? A lot of people are reporting stuns not actually stunning whether it be locker or pallets. Half the time you get a stun and get hit after they get stunned from the opposite side of the pallet. I played killer and pallets that should've stunned me slid off my face like hot butter. I even got blinded perfectly while picking up a survivor and it didn't make me drop her. Let me guess, you're going to say stuns not working as intended is just part of the update and people need to 'just get better and never use any resources in the game 🤪'

There's never been a better time to be a killer.

I love some of your ideas, especially the Feng one.

For Meg, maybe the reduction of distance could be even smaller? So from 2.5 metres to just 2 metres? It's the only edge I could think of that matches her backstory/aspiration.

Claudette's change seems reasonable, but I feel like stypic/syringe would work if the actual harvesting of the leaves took a significant amount of time. Like maybe 1.25-1.5x the time it takes to cleanse a totem.

Thanks, I know they're a tad complex though. With what happened with the Twins I couldn't expect them to do changes like this any justice. I actually got a headache thinking about these and went to sleep, which I should be doing now lmao.

Meg was one that stumped me because running is her thing, but you wouldn't want to increase her speed or anything like that. The hurdle animation would be a nice change, but that on its own wouldn't set her apart. If survivors had stamina they had to work with/around she could have a little bit increase of stamina. It makes me wonder if survivors having a stamina bar in general would benefit the game. One that would refill relatively quickly but only when you're not running and would refill at a slower rate if exhausted?

If the plant gathering was significantly long, maybe. If it's shorter the alternative would be better for balance reasons. Wouldn't want claudette to be able to insta heal an infinite amount of times after touching a bush for a few seconds, lol.

  • I love how people took this and ran with it saying it'd be too much and overpowered without giving it a second thought. It doesn't have to be. It's a wonderful idea as long as the innate perk wasnt anything majorly impactful.

For instance the Meg vault thing wouldn't work I don't think, that would turn most medium vaults essentially into fast vaults if I'm understanding it correctly and that just seems too powerful. Same with Claudette but a little less so.

Maybe kinda keep a bit of Claudettes idea BUT scrap the syringe/stypic part and make it either heal a portion of you or your injured teammates health or be a slow overtime heal (that maybe only heals you a third of the way or something). Ace could have a 1% luck increase. Jake could rummage for addons in chests (which would forfeit obtaining an item and the addon would be added to your inventory if you escape the trial). Nea could tag stuff (one tag at any given time). Dwight could see people who get out of a locker for like half a second (with a cooldown).

During chase Feng could pull out a handheld game which would grant bonus blood points the longer she's able to keep the chase up which she will lose all together if she gets caught. If she ends a chase without getting grabbed or going down, she secures a little extra blood points, not much maybe 1 or 2 bp per second which caps off at maybe 5-600bp. Maybe less, it's negotiable.

Nothing significantly game altering that wouldn't cause a huge shift in the meta, just enough to make the characters actually a bit unique. If anything it would encourage people to play other survivors than their alloted main(s). Although an idea this great probably wouldn't or couldn't be implemented by this dev team unfortunately.

  • The amount of people that think this will be some new OP meta is hilarious.

Even if did become meta, infectious fright already is and will let you know if someone is close enough for a save. If they're not, you pick up instantaneously and don't walk through any other pallets.

Plus Blood Favor, which is underrated and strong on its own, will prevent the pallet from being pulled down at all if you down someone in a pallet. It's a direct, hard counter if you're that afraid of this perk build. Pair that with infectious, which is also strong on its own, to know who to go for next or what way to look away from to prevent a flashlight save.

Y'all are overreacting to this big time. You should be more afraid of the permanent haste, looping with friends build, that already exists which makes it damn near impossible to catch TWO people looping the same structure FOREVER.

    Yawn.

You realize by only playing Survivor. I did give data. By only playing survivor and only getting hit 19 times the whole weekend, never get sacrificed, and winning all of my matches. That gave data that Bloodlust is needed. By not playing Killer and stomping potato's in red ranks, gave different data.

Stop with the sensless politic's and narcisism. I know what I am doing.

It's not 'senseless politics and narcism' to say that your literal handful of games quantifies nothing, you act like what little you did is all that matters and that we should just ignore what everyone else says or experiences because 'you say so'. That's not even taking into account whether you're even being honest or what kind of killers you were up against because, personally speaking, matchmaking is the worst it's ever been for me and as a consistent R1 survivor I'm almost consistently getting green-yellow rank killers and teammates with a dash of purple and brown to boot. Most of the games against inexperienced killers, they get stomped because they simply don't know what they're doing, we aren't rightly matched and that's also going to contribute to skewing information. For all anyone knows you could've been bullying inexperienced killers to 'ruin the data' as you so eloquently put it, seeing as how you've made it clear that was your intention from the get-go. Now you expect your information to be in the best interest of the games balance when you admitted you could care less?

Not to mention what could've been someone not knowing how to mind game whatsoever or how to even land an easy hit could contribute to people blaming not having bloodlust to be the culprit. It's the same thing as having Covid, getting hit by a car and blaming Covid for their death (or at least labeling it a Covid death which is highly disingenuous). "I didn't mind game at all, followed the most predictable movement and missed that hit, it's all because I don't have bloodlust!! Totally had nothing to do with the fact that I can't take responsibility for my own inability."

Speaking of narcissism, you act like your experience and what very little you played is the only thing that matters. At least I even gave an alternative that could appease everyone even though I think it's wholly unnecessary (making bloodlust a component of Beast of Prey instead of base kit for those who think they really need it and would buff the perk) and didn't just say 'well I don't think it should exist and I think I'm right so you should just give up or I'm gonna call you a political narcissist for disagreeing with me'. All you've done is gripe and give no alternative other than 'I need it because I said so'.

I already said more testing needed to be conducted, especially given that maps are in the process of being changed and a lot of loops are unsafe and don't warrant bloodlust. People only have issues with not being able to use bloodlust to brute force a decent loop instead of outsmarting their opponent. A couple days testing in the middle of maps being reconfigured when bloodlust has been active for YEARS with a ton of people threatening not to play killer to 'ruin the data' is not nearly enough information.

Stomping inexperienced killers does not mean bloodlust is necessary. An experienced killer does not need bloodlust to catch people and win games. In fact, bloodlust more often than not HURTS killers on console because of fps drops and has ruined easy downs to give you an unnecessary speed boost.

I've played for over three years at this point, so don't act like I don't know what *I'm* doing or what I'm talking about just because I have a different opinion than you. At least when I have discussions with people it's because I genuinely want what's best for this game to prosper. Some people just want to argue for the sake of argument.

I've agreed with a ton of crap that a lot of people don't like that was beneficial to killers because it was in the best interest of balancing the game. Noed for instance, is fine the way it is. I'm glad insta heals don't exist like they used to or that DS and BT don't work how they used to and that gens can be regressed. Even the ruin change is stronger than people like to admit although I didn't mind old ruin and I'd definitely like to see something implemented that's maybe similar to old ruin where you HAVE to hit great skill checks, hell buff unnerving with that or something.

I had sooner just let the Dev's get terrible data, and ruin their own game further. Than to go 8 games in a row getting told to kill myself by survivors that know just to abuse long loops, and maps with the loops close together. Playing Survivor over the weekend happened exactly as predicted. I barely ever got hit, or not until the map ran out of long/long loops.

You claim you 'abuse' strong loops to 'show them what needs to be changed' yet you wouldn't play during the test to show them that you need bloodlust. Which is it? Do you care about the game getting better or do you not care if they 'ruin their own game' because you're unwilling to deal with a very temporary test? Which isn't going to happen, by the way. The game has been far worse off in the past and has survived thus far, it will continue with or without you. You can't have it both ways.

While I have my criticisms, I still have hope that they're attempting to figure out and work towards a better future for the game, so I stay and endure far worse things they do that I may not agree with for the sake of knowing with some HELP it can be better.

Everyone is not going to agree on their choices, but if you're going to be the kind of person that threatens to leave the moment something isn't going your way and attempt to 'ruin their data' in the process, they really don't need people like you around in the first place because you've demonstrated you don't care enough about the game getting better to stick around through the rough patches where they are trying to figure stuff out and instead would rather sabotage their efforts to do better.

At the end of the day, it's a video game, and the nature of this game is that it's always going to be a work in progress. When new maps, killers and perks are introduced, things will need to be adjusted accordingly, even if they do try to change the existing loops, someone will always find a reason to be upset because they're unwilling to adapt. Sometimes they don't know what adjustments really need to be made and won't know if they don't do extensive testing.

The only thing I will say about this test is that I hope they do more, especially since maps are in the middle of getting changed. This was an odd time for them to do that test considering this information, but maybe it will serve as a base at the very least.

Furthermore, get a backbone. To blame them for what rude crap some people have to say on the internet is ridiculous. People are going to be that way regardless of the state of the game, regardless of what game you're playing.

If it bothers you that much, report them, set it to where you can't receive/see their messages, don't look at the messages, don't linger around to chat with people who are teling you to '#########'. There is no sense in pretending it's the games fault that you receive these kind of messages or that you're incapable of handling it the way it should be handled. People shouldn't say these things, but you also shouldn't use these things being said as a basis for why bloodlust is no longer needed. The game play will show that, not whatever hateful things people have to say to you for whatever reason they think it's reasonable to do so.

This might come as a surprise, but most people aren't vindictive enough to be miserable just to spite the devs. If changes are made that they disagree with, they'll usually just avoid subjecting themselves to it, and play other games instead. Maybe Civ.

This might come as a surprise, if you're THAT miserable because you're losing out on a bandaid of a mechanic like bloodlust for three days max, maybe you should learn how to play without it. You'd be a lot less miserable if you did, but nobody wants to actually improve their abilities, they want to rely on crutches until they're ripped out from underneath their feet so they can cry about how unfair it is to actually have to play the game the way it was intended. Brute forcing through a chase with bloodlust is not that way.

It's a test, they explicitly stated nothing is set in stone and the ones threatening to quit playing over a three day test are the ones that stand to lose the most by not showing the devs they need it, but you know what? Good riddance. Those kind of people can take bloodlust with them when they go for all I care.

Bloodlust was never meant to stay in the game indefinitely, it was a bandaid for poor map design that should've never been added. Same goes for the old infinites, it made survivors who relied on them unable to cope without them and now they're gone and survivors had to adapt and cope. It's the same for bloodlust and hopefully the same goes for bloodlust.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/207492/avoiding-stress-as-killer-this-weekend#latest . It shouldn't be the Killer's job to make the game fun for Survivors. The game should be fun for killer's too. There's literally 0 incentive to play this weekend as Killer.

The incentive is showing the devs you need it, nows the best time to put your money where your mouth is and show instead of tell. No amount of running your mouths on the forums is going to beat the data they receive, not playing only hurts YOU. they're not listening to what you say, they're looking at what the data is telling them.

The fact that you think all nemesis is worth is the few seconds of aura reading is a very telling sign of your skill. The minute of obliviousness is far more important than the few seconds of aura reading you get, so it's not comparable to I'm All Ears which is a greatly underrated perk itself.

Let's not forget Fire Up on top of all that speed which helps you as gens get done so even when you're losing, you're gaining.

I really don't get all of the complaining. It's literally a test, which y'all are going to ruin for yourselves by not playing and giving them data that says you need it, and it's like two or three days long. That's such an insignificant amount of time it's not even funny. But you know what, go ahead, leave and take bloodlust with you. You're the ones that stand to lose the most by not playing during this.

Your calling me out for using my personal perspective(Which its not) then base your entire argument around your own perspective?

"Those in glass houses should not throw stones"

Also from all realistically gather-able evidence(we don't have exact numbers) survivors DC vastly more on average then killers proportionally do.

Obviously the DC rate is going to be higher for survivors than killers because there's four survivors and one, count em, ONE killer per game. The DC rate has a chance of going up exponentially for the side that has more opportunities for DCing in any situation like this, that's just basic logistics. This is also assuming every DC is purposeful and not a result of game errors.

I've had a game recently where there were hackers that broke the game so badly that every spot there could be a pallet there was, all the gens popped less than 30 seconds into the match starting and the two that caused it left immediately leaving the killer and two console players (me and one other person) stuck in an infinite EGC. The killer ended up having to DC to end it, he and I got a 5 minute matchmaking penalty even though I didn't DC and the poor other console player got a 15 hour ban from the game entirely. Would only the killers DC count towards those rates? Would mine be included even though I didn't actually DC? There's too many variables to rely on those statistics for any kind of argument. Although they may not make up a majority of cases, these are not isolated incidents and infinite EGC's that force DC's appear to happen frequently.

As for the people whining about a two or three day TEMPORARY TEST and saying they 'just won't play', you're not helping your case. That's literally idiotic.

If you think the game still needs bloodlust, you'd THINK you all would play to show the devs how worse off you'll be without it. That's what the test is for, to gather data. The only reason not to play during this change is because you're afraid to show them that you don't need it anymore and validate everyone's concerns. If you need it, show them you need it and maybe they won't get rid of it entirely or at all.

I personally like a suggestion I saw earlier in the thread that could make everyone happy. They can rework Beast of Prey and make bloodlust a component of it so that it's still available to those who need it, aka the inexperienced players, and if you want to use it even though you're experienced it comes at the cost of a perk slot so that it's not abusable. It's the same reason perks like kindred, deja vu, visionary and windows of opportunity are perks and not base kit. At the very least bloodlust should not be base kit the same way any other advantage isn't.

  • Since I've yet to see any reasonable rework here, why don't they just handle its balance like every other perk and just introduce another perk to counter it instead of coming up with a real solution?

Maybe something that slows down or applies the broken/hemmoraged/mangled/blind/etc status effect on a survivor that breaks free from your grasp for x amount of time or something.

I mean if it's okay to tell survivors that if they 'don't like x perk, use x perk to counter it' then the same should be said about the killer. Not that it needs a perk to counter it because DS is already useless outside of EGC because it's so easily bypassed anyway that it barely qualifies as anti tunnel. It's quintessentially anti tunnel, but it's really not and it's in a hard place of being completely neutered or too OP if changed in any of these previously implied ways.

Why are people still complaining about DS in 2020 anyway? Do we not recall old DS? It's an absolute husk of its former self and it's either completely useless or an absolute lifesaver, there's not really any in between. It's fine where it is because it doesn't guarantee anything. In fact there's also a possibility you miss the skill check and render it a complete waste of a perk slot.

If you use it too early in the game you can still get tunneled through it. Decent killers know how to avoid it entirely or just eat it early so you don't have it during end game. If you use it late game it can be the difference between life and death for you and potentially your team, especially during EGC although I'm personally of the opinion that if you hadn't already been hit with their DS before this point in the game that you already weren't doing too hot to begin with.

If you were to make it so that someone else getting downed disabled it, you would get killers that slug you and down someone else in quick succession to deny any usage of it, come back and hook you and guarantee that tunneling will always work in their favor for those who say it's a 'losing tactic'. This is especially true of killers with one shot abilities such as, but not limited to, a face camping Bubba that can insta down both people should you dare a rescue or get caught trying.

If you make it so that touching a gen nullified it there would have to be an amount of time spent on the gen, like 3s or so, to confirm that it's a commitment to a gen and not just you tapping it to stop it frol regressing. Let's not forget this wouldn't effect a runner, they spend their time wasting the killers time anyway so not touching gens wouldn't stop them from doing what they would normally otherwise do and you propose they basically get old DS.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1755070#Comment_1755070

Yeah that's what I mean. I was playing killer on yamaoka and a big ass boulder spawned right at the killer shack that the survivors could run through but I as killer couldn't on top of that there was another boulder set with a pallet at with a window vault next to that as well. Like if I'm not playing DS Freddy or pyramid head I'm not catching them there assuming they're not stupid.

Comparing bad RNG to something that's literally broken and needs to be addressed is disingenuous. People shouldn't be able to 'run through' a boulder. That's not an issue of RNG and using it as an example of bad RNG is like saying getting stuck in the hills was a result of bad RNG.

For people complaining about not knowing where pallets and vaults are, there's LITERALLY a perk for that and you can use it until you get an idea of spawns and you'll start to learn there is a method to the madness such as, but not limited to, 'this window is open, that means that window is closed' and vice versa.

No game needs to be balanced according to the freshest of players or the oldest most die hard enthusiasts. Nuking the RNG might help a newer player or someone who doesn't play enough to know where things should be or how tiles work, however this will also result in even more stale game play. One of the most stale things to see is all the same perks used every game and now you want to advocate for every map to be the same way? I don't think so.

You don't need to run the meta to survive, you quite literally just need to 'git gud'. Play more, practice, watch others and you'll become better. I've played enough to learn these things so that I can afford to run a slew of fun perks without feeling punished for doing so. Hell, you don't even need a single exhaustion perk and it's quite funny to get hit with exhaustion addons when you do because it doesn't affect you whatsoever. You just need to spend the time it takes to learn how to do something before you open up a can of complaints that are resolved by simply playing the game the way its meant to be played. Take accountability for your inability.

In most cases you should be traveling from where you spawn to the best gens to work on (anything mid map, rarely anyone spawns mid map if ever) instead of hoping on the first gen you see (unless it's optimal to do so). By then you've seen at least part of what you've been dealt and should plan your escape strategy accordingly which you should have plenty of time to do while you're holding M1.

“if I get it to 70% and win the chase...”

... you’ll be back to a 0% done generator. And you might win the chase, I don’t know how you play. 99% of randoms have never won any chase and they couldn’t win a chase even if they followed a step by step video tutorial.

I mean, this. IF you happen to win the chase, by the time you get back to the gen that was about to pop it's ussually just about gone.

I check for ruin by tapping a gen at the start of a match, but if I know the killer is chasing someone or otherwise busy enough that I could get the Gen done, I'll do it. Otherwise these people don't seem to realize just how quickly the gens regress if you get pushed off.

Sure, if you dont have totem spawns memorized like I do (aside from indoor or freshly updated maps) or you see another teammate obviously looking for totems you shouldn't be looking for the totems, you should be pressuring gens, but if no one is looking for totems (and in anything other than a 4 man you don't know if they are) its almost just as much wasted time to be close to completing a generator just for a tinkerer killer to come push you off of it or catch you if they have a one shot ability, the latter being worse if no one knows about your gen so you get to sit on the hook next to it and watch the time you spent on it regress to nothing.

That said I don't mind the combo, but to downplay it's viability is disingenuous.

Can't wait for that new perk to come out that increases your lunge by 100% when we already have issues with hits not feeling fair and latency. 🙄

You know, after being on these forums for some time now, I can tell you two things from all the posts made here multiple times...

    People complain when survivors loop

    People complain when survivors stealth

We get told "Looping takes no skill, it's just braindead and exploiting an unintended mechanic"

Then from the other side "Immersive is boring, why are you crouch walking / hiding in a bush, you're not even interacting with the killer, dbd is about the chases"

I'm not saying there aren't points to be made, but it seems to me survivors are caught both coming and going at this point. Some of the ideas here ARE valid, even if i think that both styles of play have merit. But the problem is, even if things were changed up so stealth became more common, I can guarantee survivors would be getting flak for playing "Immersed" and "Boring".

This is the mindset people have that grinds my gears, especially when it comes to perks like DS. I personally love to mix it up and get niche perks to work, but it's hard when every killer always runs the meta because they're preparing for the worst every game.

But I hate the rare occasions I DO use DS when an overwhelming majority of my games are being spent getting tunneled out of games as fast as possible and then I get killers messaging me after a game is over, even if I died, to talk ######### about the fact that I even brought DS or God forbid I use it and manage to survive, they have a hissy fit saying I rely on crutch perks when I'm running something like DS, Any Means Necessary, fixated and deja vu (to prevent 3 gens in solo que) and they're running ######### like ruin, undying, noed and blood warden on a Ghostface.

Then you get the games where they brag about hard tunneling you to death because you looped them a little longer than they liked and you're like 'I mean what else was I supposed to do at that point' and they're like 'run DS'. You can't win, lol.

Killers typically get especially angry if you extend chases, like buddy you should've quit chasing me a long time ago. It's amazing how often killers don't know when to quit, then they turn your ability to loop and make them look stupid for not leaving you as a personal attack and it goes from trying to catch you to trying ONLY to catch you, ignoring everyone else despite them throwing themselves at them. If you can't catch someone either try to path unpredictably or cut the chase and go after a weaker link. Honestly it's always the killers that actually have no idea what they're doing and path retardedly that always end up getting me, but it's almost always funny cause I'm like WHAT WAS HE DOING??

Also if he were a formidable opponent he would see more stealth. When a good survivor is scared of a good killer, they will avoid chases for as long as possible.

(Ps4) I rarely see nurse and spirit, nowadays I even see more nurse than spirit and that says something. I mainly see Freddy, Deathslinger, Pig and Bubba. I like to see huntress, Oni and Blight currently. Billy's chase music terrifies me but his scream makes me laugh.

  • As far as people complaining about his map pressure, what if he could shoot solid objects in the environment to drag himself at a quick rate across the map kinda like the blight serum but farther because I think his weapon reaches 16m or so.

It's easy to dismiss this as "oh they're doing it for easy wins" when the reality could simply be that their 2 low rank friends don't play enough to get to high ranks on a consistent basis and thus are permanently at or around rank 20 because of it.

People would be a lot happier if they didn't pretend this was a concerted effort to ruin their games. This happens regularly in solo que. That's not to say people don't try to do this, but matchmaking is SUPPOSED to be based on the highest rank so that people couldn't do this to begin with, whether or not that works is obviously debatable.

Matchmaking is just like this. It also isn't really fair to tell people they can't play with their friends just because they aren't the same rank because some people don't play all the time. I have some friends that are decent but don't play a lot so they're yellow rank and I'm R1 regularly, but even with full red rank teammates when I play solo I get green rank killers a lot.

I actually prefer to play with one other person as opposed to a full squad, three squad or solo.

Devs have already stated in the past that doing that is against the rules. You don't need to factor in their "intent" if they are actively not doing the objective and hiding, it is holding the game hostage.

And you are correct, i am arguing that the way hatch is designed right now, it encourages all the players in the game to effectively stop playing the game as intended and play another game which is far more boring for all the players still involved in order to "win"

The whole point of a survivors objective is to escape, not to do gens. Doing gens is just one of two options that lead to surviving/escaping. If devs have said that's holding the game hostage, that's quite hypocritical, but I don't know what I expect from a team of nitwits that introduce a perk that increases lunge by 100% when we already have hit registration issues.

If you feel you're more likely to get caught working on a 3 gen than you are to get any progress made on a gen, you do not have to do gens to try and escape. You have the option of evading the killer and seeing who gets caught first and that can unfortunately get drawn out when a killer is incapable of being able to locate a survivor, which there are perks for as people love to always tell survivors. If this is a problem that afflicts you so often that you felt the need to complain about it, maybe you should be running perks that help you locate survivors. Just saying.

Like I said, fun is subjective. You can't argue that it's 'boring' because I could say the same thing about face camping, tunneling, slugging, mori'ing off of first hook, etc. yet those are 'play styles' that are backed by the devs yet somehow evading the killer isn't acceptable because you're making it boring for the killer? That's called a double standard.

There is a difference between running a perk to counter another perk, or to counter a specific strategy. Nothing wrong with that. There is a problem with having to use a perk to prevent someone from literally holding the game hostage (something that is against the rules, reportable, and bannable btw).

This should be an uncontroversial statement. This is something that is literally against the rules and is bannable. I'm simply stating that instead of punishing people from doing it, just make it not possible for them to do.

I mean it would be against the rules if it was actually holding the game hostage. It isn't. Holding the game hostage implies that they're intentionally doing it and you have no way to prove someone's intention. I already explained that in my original statement you obviously didn't bother to read.

There's a difference between someone intentionally holding a game hostage and a game taking longer than it should because of a killers inability to locate a survivor, which there are perks for.

Hiding from the killer all game and waiting for your teammates to die for hatch are as valid of playstyles as face camping, hard tunneling and slugging. Fun is subjective. What's not fun to you and I is to others. Some people don't like to work on gens, but love the thrill of being able to effectively evade the killer.

Your issue isn't with someone holding the game hostage, your issue is with the game being designed in a way that makes this stalemate a possibility. It has nothing to do with people intentionally holding the game hostage.

It's hard to come to a solution without outright punishing survivors for being able to evade a killer such as the suggestion of showing or telling you where a survivor is after x amount of time. The problem with this is if that x amount of time isn't significant, survivors who are just actively evading you could be given away in which case it would be pointless to ever evade in the first place and evasion perks would become null and void if the killer were just given your location for doing nothing.

I'm sitting at 1.5k hours in this game, i know how to find survivors and i know other perks exists. The point is that survivors are able to hold the game hostage by intentionally not doing their objective. I shouldn't have to run a perk to prevent people from holding the game hostage and actively not doing their objective.

Also, i was running information perks, 2 of them in fact. I had BBQ, and tinkerer. BBQ requires a hook, and tinkerer requires survivors do do their objective. Which they were not. They were effectively AFK, which means they should either get crows, or some kind of time limit needs to exist, but they were moving around just enough so they wouldn't get crows, which i would argue is an exploit.

'I shouldn't have to run a perk to counter x thing.' Why is it acceptable for you to say this when you play killer, but not survivor? People tell survivors what perks they should be using literally all the time to counter dumb ######### that people shouldnt be allowed to do. 'Don't want to get tunneled out of the game early? Use DS. Oh, but we'll complain about you using it later on too.' Like?? You can't win.

I don't understand people saying this situation is holding the game hostage because there's no way to tell if it's intentional or they're unwilling to die for the other person or they're trying to finess a close proximity 3 gen.

Just as face camping people to death on first hook and tunneling to death early game are 'legit StRaTiGiEs', so is playing the waiting game for hatch. I'd be damned if I tried to finess a 3 gen on my own just to get caught for some blendette who did nothing to help the team all game. It may not be 'fun' but fun is subjective and whether you like it or not, hiding from the killer is a part of the game.

If you want to concede just to end it, that's your prerogative, but I'm not keen on being forced into just giving some jack off that did absolutely nothing for anyone all game the extra points. It may not be much and to some it may not be worth it, but when this happens at least every other game ESPECIALLY when you're solo que, it's a thing of principle.

  • @Mikeasaurus said:

It's sad to see another DbD player leaving, but it's understandable. I recently came back to the game myself after leaving a few weeks back because of the issues, and I sort of regret doing it, but part of me feels I need to because of the amount of money I've put into the DLC and the work I've done on it. Latency is one of the biggest gripes I have with the game overall. I've had a similar experience with Huntress and Deathslinger. Huntress hatchets sometimes just phase right through survivors, others they just fly right on by but smack them anyway. Then there's the smacked directly, and the hit animates, the survivor even does his pain from being hit, but the game doesn't register it at all. Hopefully one day soon the game will be in a decent state, but here's hoping you find a new game to enjoy, and hope to one day see you return!

Just the other day I was being healed by a teammate and deathslinger saw us from a distance, shot at me and it acted like it hit me, but it didn't. It was almost like it grazed me and my character (Cheryl) screamed like she'd gotten hit. By all means I should have, but I didn't, then he turned his attention to someone else.

As a Freddy main, I can tell you the easiest way to beat me is to rotate gens often. Spread out and don't have a bunch of people on one gen. When I start teleporting, you rotate to another gen, even if my teleport is fake.

It's really not that hard. He can only chase 1 person. There are 3 others who could and should be working on gens and/or totems.

I mostly play survivor and it's so weird how people cling to these gens once they start them. It's ok to move to another gen.

That depends on the viability of moving to another Gen, especially considering if ruin/undying is in play. Which, let's face it, almost always is now. I'm the first one to tell you I'll leave a Gen close to done alone if the killer is watching it while I do another so that they're distracted keeping it from popping while I pop another, but with ruin/undying and maybe even surveillance or tinkerer, they really don't have to worry about watching it at all because they'll know when you're touching it/finishing it on top of being able to teleport over to it to prevent that from happening and Gen slowdown addons/teleport cool down addons plus the non existent penalty to slamming snares and pallets everywhere at a moments notice.

I like the way they changed him from how he used to be, I just think they gave him too much to work with. When you see Freddy you die a little on the inside because unless they just don't know what they're doing they will always dominate the game, hands down and there's almost nothing you can do about it.

lmao who is running tinkerer on freddy his song in the dream world isnt his terror radius so asleep people still hear you tf

Not hearing him coming is not the most important reason to use tinkerer on Freddy. It's to know when a Gen is about to pop so he can come teleport/fake to it at a moments notice and interrupt it.

  • @Mandy said:

I think it would be a big problem to add this feature - you'd be able to "avoid" someone playing a killer you don't like or a good survivor is going to get avoided by all killers that play against them. It would just be too unfair on players.

The people who choose to abuse the system by blocking everyone or being blocked by everyone until there's no one left to play against are the kind of people you probably shouldn't be vouching for to be in your game in the first place.

Simple solution would be to limit it to a handful of uses so that you'd only use it for your worst encounters, like getting targeted ~20 games in a row by the same killer which is said to be a bannable offense, yet it never happens and blocking them doesn't work and you don't know who your killer is until you're in the match so there's no way to take matters into your own hands and dodge them. There's no reason it can't be implented when PUBG has the same ######### and as far as I'm aware, there it's unlimited.

Especially now that if you want to find a match within a reasonable amount of time you're forced to stay crossplay where us console users are now subjected to dealing with the literal hackers they can't take care of. Had a match the other day where every pallet spawn location had a pallet, all the gens popped in less than a minute and the two PC players left immediately while the killer, the other console player and I were stuck in an infinite EGC. The killer ended up DCing which kicked us out, I got a 5 minute matchmaking ban and the other poor console player got a 15 HOUR BAN. For what?? Why SHOULDN'T we be allowed to avoid playing with people that could do this to us?

Although I wouldn't expect you to know what something reasonable looks like when you ban people from the forums, where opinions are meant to be shared and discussed no matter how much you personally disagree, because they have a dissenting opinion. By your own logic of avoidance, you keep banning people like that to keep them quiet and these forums will be nothing but a circle jerk echo chamber where nothing will ever change because everyone you agree with are the only ones allowed an opinion.

I must admit, it's pretty clear you're attempting to create a sense of superiority through your particular choice of words. Don't be that guy.

That guy complains about people assuming what he's said yet does nothing but assume everything about situations people are in straight down to 'well its your fault I'm tunneling you because your team isn't doing gens fast enough'. It's a really interesting thought process, to say the least. Lmao.

But yeah tunneling/hard face camping has gotten worse as of late. I took a break for like a week or so after getting agitated with how bad it's been and came back for the event/rift today just to get three different pigs face camp and tunnel me to death, going out of their way to get solely me even when my team tried their damndest to take agro (solo que mind you). In a couple, at least two got out. In one my whole team died trying to prevent her from killing me. I swear to God my name is on some hit list sometimes, I mean I don't get it, it isn't like I did anything to them to warrant it. It can't possibly be that much fun to go into every match with the intention of just ruining the game for someone else on purpose.

I have gotten warned by killers (ps4) after they've tunneled me out of a match in the past with ######### like 'next time don't bring a key'. Only time I bring keys is when I'm doing a challenge that requires escaping or I'm just sick of getting screwed in matches. Maybe it's just me, but I don't think it should be acceptable for people to target and threaten others just for using what's at their disposal as far as addons/offerings/items go. There might not be anything BHVR can do about it, but it's pretty deplorable.

I might not enjoy getting mori'd, but as long as you're not literally just right there waiting for a save to mori me off first hook at the start of the match, I don't care if you use a mori. I'm not going to tell you that you can't or you shouldn't and when I'm upset with some stupidly oppressive build *cough forever Freddy* I'm not upset with the player for using what they've got. I'm upset that the devs allow something like that to exist. Just like the whole Legion double mending addon exploit that got fixed. That's on the devs and they were banning people for using two addons which is ridiculous, what if someone didn't know?

  • What I don't get are those defending the hard camping by saying 'there's perks to counter that, it's a mechanic in the game, lol' while simultaneously telling people who would rather stealth to death that their preferred mechanic in the game is unacceptable and that there aren't counters to it? Being stealthy might not be fun to you, but being face camped and tunneled to death if you do manage to get saved isn't fun either, yet that gets defended to hell and back.

Why is it okay to tell people 'camping is a mechanic, use your anti camping perks' but not 'stealth is a mechanic, use your anti stealth perks/killers'? Especially when the anti tunnel perks do ######### all in reality if the killer is determined to kill you. Even DS can be entirely ignored, especially with a mori. The bias is real, I'm looking at you, 'mod'.

I agree with the guy that said we need to be able to just concede and take what we've gotten, leaving a husk or even a bot in place so we can move on to greener pastures. If you're getting camped/tunneled to death, you can take your current points and dip to a new game while potentially leaving a bot to play in your place or at the very least a husk that the killer can hook and survivors can save/heal. If you're killer and the survivors are hiding, you can leave them to hide against a husk/bot killer to their hearts content. Everybody wins.

Jeez y’all just want the win handed to you on a silver platter don’t you? Not every killer needs to be a run in circles to loop them killer. Get better adapt and you will find things like this aren’t issues at all. I’m done responding to players who really think they deserve a free way out of dead zones. Play better don’t be in that situation or defend that person saying. “Killer op it’s not your fault you ran to a dead zone” Take Responsibility Period.

I directly quoted what you said and instead of defending your points you turn to ad hominem attacks because you don't have an actual point, that much is clear. Go ahead and don't respond, nobody wants to have a DISCUSSION with someone who doesn't actually want to discuss anything anyway. If your 'solution' to a problem a lot of people have is just 'play better', you have no place in a discussion of balance.

I don't have as much of an issue with him as a lot of people do, in fact when they don't spam their gun for zoning you off free of charge, I've had great chases with DS. Win or lose, it's fun, but there's always going to be those bad eggs that abuse ######### mechanics and ruin it for everyone else. See: Legion.

The whole point of his zoning being unfair is that HE decides where you go. So you can't say 'just don't go into that dead zone it's all your fault if you do' instead of addressing the fact that he can force you into that dead zone with no drawback in the first place.

There is no 'just don't go that way' when he decides where you go with a quick flick of his gun and, like someone else pointed out, if you ignore the flicks he will catch on and instead of faking it he'll just shoot you. Let's not forget M&A on him makes his TR non existent so by the time he's upon you, you don't exactly have a choice of direction. He shouldn't be able to quickscope, this isn't an FPS and it's humanly impossible to dodge a shot you can't even see coming because he doesn't have to aim.

There's no 'responsibility' to be taken. Period. You're trying to say the killers ability to spam/fake using their ability over and over to force someone into a more favorable position at the cost of absolutely nothing is somehow a survivors fault? Get real.

It's not as much of a lose/lose as PH if only because he has an actual chance of missing you whereas with PH you are, more often than not, getting hit no matter what you do. I don't want any killer nerfed into the ground, that would be counter productive, but I also don't want a killer to be able to win relying solely on abusing a mechanic in a game that consistently guarantees they catch you regardless of what you do. The same way killers feel about decisive, which I'm sure you do as well.

If you want decisive to be nerfed because of people that abuse it for more than just anti tunneling purposes, but see nothing wrong with Deathslinger, you my friend have a double standard.

Ah I misworded that, I am fine with his zoning, it creates many 50/50 situations which is needed for a strong chase power. That's not objectively broken however as 50/50s are part of the game naturally in mindgames etc. As I said zoning =/= lose lose.

What I do want is people actually learning how to be efficient against him and understanding his limitations. You can avoid most lose lose situations and force 50/50s. Not everyone will like that but it's better than having the misconception that he is constantly lose lose similar to pyramid.

Objectively yes, changing him to have less chase and buffing him elsewhere is better, however, he is super fun to play, feels very rewarding and has a high skill ceiling. Plus changing him would ruin the killer for the people who have learned him down to the bone, learning every hole in shack, etc. Plus, he is barely played. It's putting effort into something that is going to happen every game.

You shouldn't always look at things objectively, because if we did, other killers would require a rework when it's really not necessary.

Regardless of the subject, your entire argument is 'I think it's fine the way it is because I like how it plays and I've gotten used to it. We shouldn't change him because my enjoyment is all that matters.'

Like I'm sorry but the game isn't going to cater to you because you don't want things to change. I'm sure the people who loved the old insta heals didn't want them to change because they got used to abusing that power, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't have changed because it would hurt their feelings and how they got used to using them. It was objectively the right thing to do and it's a shame it took as long as it did to implement the change.

You have to look at things objectively because the goal isn't to be subjective to protect your feelings. The goal is to find a middle ground where a majority of people are happy because there will always be that one guy who doesn't agree, so you can't please them all. In this case most people agree SOMETHING needs to change with hin and this isn't even just about him, this goes for anything that needs to be tweaked or outright reworked. It isn't about solely you.

No you either keep running cuz he is slower then you now around the wall and can’t hit you or you drop the pallet and even if he shoots you he has to let you go cuz he can’t hit you. But yes let’s compare an exploiting killer going against someone who has never played survivor in their life before then to two players of equal skill level able to counter each other. Ps if you payed attention I never got bodied I just didn’t want to play but wasn’t taking a dc penalty and giving them the satisfaction. Is that your go to everytime? Cuz I can point out how you made a bunch of posts crying about deathslinger that all said the same thing and your excuse for making another one was cuz nobody agreed with you 😂 But yeah my post about how people think exploits are cool but tier 1 perks isn’t is the same thing totally 🙄

'You just keep running cuz he slower' and get shot. You seemed to miss the whole point of you dodge, you lose distance, but if you keep going, you just get shot. It's really that simple.

Yeah, let's pretend he wasn't going to catch up to her there regardless and bloodlusting doesn't exist.

'Or drop the pallet' forgetting there wasn't one in the scenario given. And even if there was it would depend on what pallet because there are umpteen pallets that, if he shoots you over them, he can just slide on around and hold you in place to get a hit anyway. Which tends to be a lot of pallets he's able to do that with.

  • Been playing survivor for a few hours (consistent R1 for a long time), just got a small update so I'm waiting for that now, but the killers I've been getting are f'ing hilarious. Like actually.

Clown with pinky finger who kept only trying to hit bottle shots at R3. Pretty fun time tbh cause his aim was bad. Threw a bottle right between me and my buddy's head at gate.

Right before that Tombstone Michael with noed who we didn't know was Tombstone until I got grabbed at the exit gate and murdered, lmao (my bad). He had hooked one person the whole match, definitely didn't seem to know what he was doing the whole game.

I'd say from what I've seen so far I'm getting mostly newer or inexperienced killers with a handful of killers at my skill level sprinkled in with mostly literal R20 babies for teams. Every other game I have like one teammate that is in or around red ranks and the rest are yellow and brown. I've seen more of those two colors recently than ever before. Used to be almost exclusively green and up.

And before anyone says anything, I know ranks are supposed to not matter anymore, but this is the same as describing a R20 that plays like they're actually more experienced (aka a smurf). You would describe them as being R1 experienced. When you play with/against people, especially multiple times, you tend to get an understanding of how they play and what their skill level may actually be and compensate accordingly.

If the R20 killer is playing as though they're R1, I'm not going to be able to pull off certain things I would be able to against someone who was actually R20 in skill.

If my R1 teammate crouch walks to a corner of the map without urban with the killer nowhere near us expecting me to follow and heal them, I'm going to know I can't rely on them.

The only problem here is the people who think they're owed something for being 'nice' and letting a survivor wiggle free. Nobody is a mind reader and knows what you intended to do, as some killers only let people wiggle to farm more points, and even if they did, they owe you nothing in return for a decision you made. Like I said, want to secure the one kill and let someone go, that's your prerogative and there were plenty other ways to secure that outcome. Point blank period.

@DCash You could've fooled me when you were saying you don't want them to have YOUR healing points, as if you're entitled to them. If you don't want them to heal, make them leave or catch them if you're able. If you don't make them leave or catch them, what do you want them to do? Sit there and twiddle their thumbs?

It's called a topic of discussion, not 'latching onto something and being single minded'. You see how that works both ways? Talk about twisting things to suit your own needs, huh. I'm sorry you're unable to focus on a single topic or you'd rather not because it's a losing discussion for you and you acknowledge that.

Common sense would tell you not to assume you have more knowledge than others when you don't know them. You know exactly what you were doing, trying to shut people down with your 'knowledge' before they can get a word in edge wise. Using your experience to invalidate others. You should get that superiority complex in check.

The only one twisting things and being salty is the guy who thinks he can throw around his hours of play time like a ######### badge of the law and wants to get upset that someone used an advantage that YOU gave them on purpose.

If they want to message the killer post game to be nasty about it, that's a different issue and that's when there's a problem. The problem is not you giving them the upper hand and then getting mad that they used it the same way you can't get mad if you run up to a killer and just stand there and give them a down/hook because you expect them to farm with you. They don't owe you anything.

If you think survivors aren't waiting at the exit to waste my time then you are dilusional. "You could force them out." NO #########. Forcing out survivors is also a HUGE waste of time. And, yeah I know you want points. I don't care, those heal points are mine and when you heal you take score away from me. I'm not "letting them escape." It is physically impossible for me to get someone at the exit gate, only force them out......which wastes more time....I'm not falling for this dumb entitled survivor-main logic. I'm going to do the most efficient thing to kill you. Forcing you out at the exit is not it. Baiting you back in is. Don't bother debating this with me my 4k hours disagree with you.

Because wasting your time baiting people dumb enough to go back in isn't a bigger waste of your time than just forcing them out and keeping your precious healing points? I wouldn't call that efficient and if this is the logic you have after '4k hours', I pity you.

If you don't want them to 'take your healing points', *force them out*.

You think you can scare people off with numbers, even if they were real, that's cute. All that tells me is you must be a sorry excuse of a killer after 4k hours to think that is the right way to handle that situation, oof. Common sense disagrees with your '4k hours'. 🤷‍♀️

I read it of course, but i disagree sorry. Your example of not wiggeling or anything like that has nothing to do with sportsmanship. In that case it is up to the killer to do what he want. It would be the same to say about survivors finishing all gens and not giving a free hook or any stuff like that - thats part of the game. The OPs example goes beyond that.

He gave Laurie a free escape. She abused it to safe her teammate which was obviously not what the killer attended. Sure, she "can" do it, but its obviously a very toxic move, because he could have killed her. It happend to a friend of mine once and the reaction of the survivor was kinda like "your fault you trusted me". Thats discusting.

Stuff like that shows the true character, especially in a video game or in the internet, a world with no real consequences, and it is sad that many (here) obviously are like that. I am not suprised tho, which is extra sad.

You can't expect people to play the way you want them to, end of story. Don't cry when you LET someone go and they save their teammate. Even if you *were* right about it being 'abusive/toxic/disgusting', which you aren't, the ultimate point is don't trust people. Even if you had a verbal agreement that she would just escape and not save her teammate, you make sure saving the teammate was out of the equation just to be certain.

There are a million-and-one other ways you can secure the one kill if that's what you wanted so bad, as in OP's situation. Don't let them wiggle off. Drop them and leave them until the one on hook is dead or unreachable. This ######### where people can't take accountability for their own floundering has got to stop.

She got out because the killer let her escape (wiggle off) "I let you go Laurie...". His good will then got abused by the survivor if i have not totally misunderstood the OP.

Where i come from this is not called smart, this is called bad sports.

You obviously didn't read the second part of what I said to you.

And like Tag said, the survivor is allowed to use the second chance you gave them in whatever way they see fit the same way killers are allowed to run whatever add ons they like, regardless of what anyone thinks of them, good or bad. I may not like some add ons, but you're still allowed to use them.

  • @xEa said:

Smart? How is it smart to abuse the killers good will? There is absolutly no wonder that many people dont give a ######### anymore and do the best they can to make the game of others as bad as possible. Think about it. Smart... ######### seriously.

    Problem of this community detected...

@GreyWolfofNorth Infinite Tier 3 Myers is not toxic. Playing toxic is toxic. You did nothing wrong.

She got out and saved her teammate to boot, didn't she? She used her perks to the best of her ability, saved her mate and got out. I'd say she played smart if she was able to get away with it.

This is the same thing as letting the killer catch you and being upset that they didn't give you hatch for not wiggling. Would it be nice? Of course, but they're not obligated to play the way you want them to even if you're being 'nice'. You don't send the killer a salty message for allowing them to kill you just because you think you were 'being nice'.

@DCash They're not 'screwing you' by healing in the gate, they could be forced out. That's extra BPs for them so if they can heal, they will. If you're letting them escape you're only screwing yourself and then have the audacity to complain about it like OP.

@Carpemortum People act like when Myers runs that he doesn't always run the green addon that increases evil gained which makes it go by that much quicker. Kinda like a huntress that runs iri heads is almost guaranteed to have infantry belt.

Is there some secret move you can pull to suddenly make it so that he can't stalk you with little to no LOS blockers? And when you can stalk *through* half the things you shouldn't like the smallest gaps through killer shack or straight through a solid object (which before you say doesn't happen, there's plenty of video proof), what then, just don't be seen, ever?

Saying 'don't run in a straight line/don't let him stalk you' is equivalent to saying 'if you don't want to get DS'd, don't tunnel' when we all know that guy that likes to force the killer to eat DS or waste his time trying.

Let's not forget how buggy this game is, had a Myers who messaged me after the match to talk about how funny it was that he hit tier 3 because he was stalking me through a locker I was in when he came around. He was nice enough to realize that was stupid, shouldn't have happened and tiered up but left me alone and went after someone else.

That ultra rare is annoying, his other is just straight bs. Luckily I hardly see him for it to be of any consequence since people prefer to play Ghostface with noed nowadays.

I don't really want to discuss this because it's off topic from what the op is about, but if you don't want to talk then you might as well stay in solos. I wouldn't blame people either if they didn't want some1 who doesn't want to talk in their swf group.

If you don't understand how bad anxiety can be for some ppl, but want to try to understand, I recommend just doing some research. Even then though, unless you have bad anxiety yourself, you probably still wouldn't understand.

This is my last reply about this because it is off topic.

That's literally what I was saying, but if you want to be like that about it.. either you want friends and you strive to work through your anxiety to make some so you can benefit from this asset or you choose to wallow in self pity and continue to play solo. 🤷‍♀️

At the end of the day, your inability to have normal social interaction doesn't make KYF any less viable of an option as opposed to giving a veteran player a low mmr on a character they don't play just to 'test out a character' on far less experienced players.

You having to find a single other soul to benefit from KYF is the lesser of two evils. There are already so many people complaining about this change on Xbox because the disparity between skill is even worse than with the current system.

I was only addressing what was directed to me, so I'm not the one who derailed from the topic just for responding and I'm not sorry for speaking my peace.

I would love people to play with myself, but I have bad anxiety. Things are just not as easy as you may think.

You don't have to talk to people. There are some who will accept your company even if you don't speak, but you can't blame people if they don't want someone who doesn't speak because there's little to no communication.

I don't personally understand the logic behind 'I want to play with people, but I don't'. Either you do, or you don't. It really is that easy.

There is too many variables for this to be good, IMO.

For example are they going to take into account offerings and add ons used? Would it be fair to say someone is skilled with a Trapper who won using an ebony mori than one who 4k'ed without it. Or a Huntress with iri heads and infantry belt over one with no add ons etc.

It seems like a very flawed system to me.

Things like this is why I'm personally critical of the reasoning behind them moving in this direction.

Not to mention general know-how. It doesn't matter what killer you play, you'll stomp out baby survivors any day of the week with any killer when you know the basics of the game and vice versa.

If this change was solely to allow you to learn the fundamentals of a killer you've never played, KYF exists for that very reason. If you're too afraid you'll throw a match because you don't know how to play a killer, test out that killer before you go into public matches.

Problems arise when you consider things like:

Is someone who has a decently long, evenly matched game and still kills everyone going to receive less mmr than the guy who tunneled/face camped and mori'd everyone off first hook with an ebony as fast as possible?

    ----

Unrelated, but why are ebony moris more common than Mary's Letter. I've only seen the new map in rotation twice as survivor since the day it's chapter dropped and I've gotten two offerings for it out of hundreds of bloodwebs.

  • @ClickyClicky said:

Ah yes killer mains, everything related to killer is fine and has the perfect amount of counter play - but asking someone to not try and pick up a survivor within 60 seconds of them being unhooked is too hard and too much to ask for.

Also yes Ghostface should lose his stalk, considerIng how he can stalk you while you’re fiddling with the camera for 5 minutes trying to get it to actually reveal him, not to mention how he can pop out from behind a wall and go back repeatedly so that he can get stalk on you but you cant get the full reveal on him. Your progress resets, his doesnt. Feels fair...

Yeah, the hypocrisy I'm seeing here is pretty great. Especially the BHVR-esque laundry list of 'got this killer? try these easy steps for guaranteed success!' that doesn't even scratch the surface of some of the legitimate concerns people have and doesn't even take into consideration ANY nuances such as, but not limited to 'just get in a locker with doctor' who might have iron maiden or a spirit with stridor (although I've learned a stupid, yet fun trick with spirit).

Not that this particular example is that big of an issue, but the point is that even the same killer played by different people can be a completely different experience which the post doesn't even consider. It's just a blanket statement that acts like every game against x killer will be the same thing, different lobby, which is insulting to both the survivors and killer in play.

It's okay for people to make unrealistic lists acting like saying 'your counter is to not get caught/use pallets duh' is fool proof information, but how dare you insinuate countering DS is easier than it's ever been. Nobody seems to remember how bad it used to be.

Anybody who gives an iota of a damn about this game doesn't want killers to be mind numbingly easy to go against as their argument always suggests, otherwise why play at all? That doesn't mean every match you have against x killer should feel damn near impossible.

With the DC ban system down, almost EVERY time I see Freddy all three of my teammates leave. I'm blessed if no one leaves a Freddy game. If that isn't telling you something I don't know what is. That's not to say I want him to go back to how he was, just that in most games he's pretty oppressive. 'Oh boy, another Freddy that probably has pop.'

I think everyone is pretty sad about the Billy change because it wasn't needed nor asked for.

  • Want to avoid BT? Don't be near the hook or if they hook bomb, go after the rescuer.

Feel like you're being forced to take DS? Eat it. Survivors are a lot more scared of a fearless killer and now they have no safety net for later instead of slugging them and allowing them to keep the one thing that could save them in end game. You really shouldn't have any DS left to deal with by end game if it ever gets that far. If you do you've probably spent too much time chasing one person instead of conceding. If they want your attention, ignore them and go after the weaker links. And before anyone goes 'what if there are no weak links!!1!1', there always will be. Every team you face is not some godly, infallible, sweaty SWF.

Slugging because you're scared of flashlight saves? Worry not, they're buffing Lightborn so no killer will ever have the ability to get blinded again. Amazing.

And deadhard? That's laughably useless as it is. 9/10 you end up exhausted on the ground, but if you know they have it get right up on them and there's nothing they can do anyway because if they dash your swing more than makes up for that distance at this point.

These perks are nothing worth complaining about. I like to run varied/fun builds more than anything, so I only use ds/unbreakable/headon/soul guard/etc combo's when I'm having terribly unfun campy and tunneling killers.

God forbid you get face camped to death on first hook or tunneled and mori'd IF you get saved six times in a row so you finally bring DS, don't even get a chance to use it this game, escape, and still get messaged after the game that you're a carried R1 just because you dare use any meta perks.

Got chewed out by a teammate that got himself killed while running all the meta perks just because I was testing out a build with technician. 'Only babies use technician.' Yet I lived because I wasn't the one taunting the killer while having 0 capability to actually loop them sooo.

You can't win no matter what you run. 😂

  • @RetroPix3l said:

Also just wanted to note if you get a cool killer who let's you find crowns and leave, well then that's awesome. I've been denied leaving with the crown a few times and it's a little frustrating but that's just the name of the game I don't hold it against the killer for doing their job. I'd rather die with the crown and let my teammates escape over them sacrificing themselves for me so that the killer gets more kills. Quoting The Rolling Stones you can't always get what you want. It's also that much more satisfying when you finally do get it, but that's just me.

There's a big difference between getting upset because you're not getting out with one because of normal game play and not getting out with one because you're being targeted for having one over and over and over and over.

If you die in a regular game and didn't get it, whatever.

If the killer messages you after the match to brag about how they prevented you from getting it, it's not just whatever and it's worse when you run into the same killer multiple times.

It's pretty ######### scummy and there's so many, but their messages can't be used against them to show that you're being targeted because it's not within the client. (Ps4)

He's not wrong. People should earn their crowns. It's not like it's hard. I already have every survivor crown on day one. There's still weeks left of anniversary. Yesterday I got 1 hooked and face camped by a huntress. She just stood there and held her hatchet. I am an Ace main and I get mori'd by some Billy's because they hate Ace. My point is, a reward isn't rewarding if it's handed out. I earned all my crowns by fire. Stop complaining.

We have just as much right to speak up about OUR experiences as you do to tell people the equivalence of 'shut up'.

Nobody is asking to be handed the rewards. Shouldn't be considered entitled to be irked about getting tunneled to death off first hook six times in a row.

Yeah, that happened today because they're purposefully targeting people who have them as someone else has stated here already and if you don't escape, you don't get it. Thus making them harder to get for those who keep saying 'it's easy lul, just escape'. Yeah, that would be nice if we had a fair chance at doing so without people being petty.

I've already gotten all of mine despite these ######### people, but that doesn't mean it's still not wrong of killers to be purposefully targeting people because they have one. It doesn't suddenly become okay to do just because I've gotten what I wanted. It's still affecting people who haven't.

Imagine thinking something that is wrong is okay because it doesn't affect you. Couldn't be me. 🤷‍♀️

  • You're equally entitled.

'Work for the cosmetics' he says as all you have to do as killer is touch it and finish the trial.

People are really acting like being able to freely roam the map in search of a crown and touching it is 'work' compared to finding it's sparse locations among four people (not to mention it moves every few seconds), getting down to 1 gen, being that close and still losing it anyway.

On top of how easy it is to receive them as killer, quite a few killers are going out of their way to target people who pick them up for no reason other than 'I don't want you to have it'.

My friend got tunneled and mori'd off first hook (ebony btw) when after a few hours he'd finally found a crown and when asked 'why, what did I do' the response was 'you don't deserve to have a crown because you're playing Ace'. 🙃

Then y'all want to wonder why people are upset and annoyed with this 'event' on top of the fact that the blood point offerings aren't even working. Be glad the worst you have to deal with is someone crying that you weren't kind enough instead of spending hours trying to get what is basically handed to killers on a literal pedestal.

Please learn how to use the forums, they have a quoting system that would make you're replies much easier to respond to. Secondly, the first section was a response to you, everything after the "---" was meant as a general reply to this thread. Though I could have made this more clear.

So from me telling you it doesn't happen often, you immediately just give me 2 anecdotal scenarios that happened to you. That doesn't show anything.

I was listing off just two instances of streamers doing this, not how many times this happened. My exact quote was

Naw, this happens alot. I played two streamers specifically that were happy that they did it.

I was trying to imply this happened a lot, but I specifically had two streamers that supported and promoted this playstyle. Once again, I see where I could have been more clear. But this was relatively implied by the format of the sentence.

Yes it counters survivors hook perks and it also counters all the meta killer hook perks.

This is a bad argument, because as the killer you can choose not to run hook related perks because you know you are playing Triangle Head. However the survivors have no idea who you are playing and can't switch their perks out to make up for this. So yes even though it counters all hook related perks, only one side knows this until the match starts. To be clear, I don't care if perks work or don't work on cages. My point is brushing torment off as some weak ability because perks don't work on it isn't a valid argument because only one side knows that before the match starts and can change their perks to make up for that ability.

I haven't seen this abuse you're referring to. Nothing more than any normal match against other killers.

I am actually just going to quote you here: So from me telling you it doesn't happen often ... That doesn't show anything.

I'm fine with having the aura removed from the killers sight, I just don't think it would do much. The killer also needs other buffs though.

He has a ranged attack that can be faked to close distance, he counters all survivor hook related perks and can counter any chance the survivor has to rescue a carried survivor by using his cages. He is a pretty strong killer. Oh yeah and his ability can give him map awareness. I've been playing him for the last week in red ranks perkless and doing just fine. I would say if I had to rate him, I would say he is a B tier killer due to his lack of map pressure. I would say the closest thing that would need buffed is how easy it is to dodge his ranged attack, but given that it goes through things and its a sword in the ground, I kinda understand its limited turn radius.

That argument doesn't make sense at all. They are not free hooks....you literally had to get downed for you to be caged. There's nothing "free" about that at all.

you broke this apart, it was a statement as a whole

As for the argument, Cages are basically free unhooks as a reason for not including this feature is BS. Because Cages are also free hooks in the first place. Unlike picking up a survivor where other survivors can prevent the hooks (flashlights, stuns, taking hits and break hooks) cages have 0 counter play to them. Under pallet, cage them, flashlight near by, cage them, no hooks near by, cage them.

That is very, very rarely happening unless the killer is playing really dumb or we are talking about low ranks that don't know what they're doing.

Ummm... then you are playing him wrong. literally all you do, is place his torment crap under a pallet or by the window. Than all loops became unsafe or require people to run from them because if they stay in that loop they will get the torment status. Then guess what, free uncounterable hook state for you. Also once again, just going to quote you: So from me telling you it doesn't happen often ... That doesn't show anything.

So thanks for that beautiful quote, its been so useful.

Your counter was not getting downed in the first place and you act like you are getting some excessive punishment for being sent to the cage...it's literally just a hook...that your team can get a free save on you instantly.

I have no idea what your talking about here. I am not saying the cage system is bad, I am saying it allows the killer to easily camp and tunnel. Which yes is a valid strat according to the devs. However, I am disappointed that they made a killer that encourages this via his power.

    *slow clap*

Let's not overlook the whole 'your counter was not getting caught' bit. Just don't get caught. Not once. Ever. Well gee golly gosh batman, why didn't I ever think of that? Literally the equivalent to someone saying 'just protect/patrol gens' when someone says gen speeds are too fast.

There are reasonable arguments to be had from either side, but the reasonable comments in this thread are very few and far in between.

I mean someone really said DS is 'in the strongest form it's ever been' in here. I'm sorry, but.. were you even around when DS was active from the start of a match and only deactivated if you tried to use it?? Was that a fever dream or is everyone just pretending that never happened? Maybe this isn't even it's final form.

Jokes aside, my personal experience against him has been lackluster. It's stupidly easy to get people into torment in my experience when you just put your trench in/at vaults and pallets even while in chase as he still moves quickly while doing so (and it can turn into his long ranged attack at any second from this state) and suddenly that loop is no longer viable if you don't want to be sent to the gulag so you can make use of your hook perks (which you're not entitled to use to be fair, perks are a gift, not a given) or better yet, mini mori'd.

'Just crouch through it or you're just stupid and don't know how to play'. Yeah, lemme just crouch walk down the hallway over this zigzagged trench of inevitable instant death that is no hindrance to him while in a chase and just give him the down all just to avoid getting tormented because that's all you can do to avoid it if you don't want to get mini mori'd. Brilliant.

By the by, why does the trench slow you down like clowns bottles? Is it meant to be that oppressive?

If they want to talk about him not being a time saver, I've definitely got some qualms with the whole half second base kit mori. 'You know what people love the most? Getting mori'd and avoiding any possible chance at making it out alive! Let's make a faster one and make it base kit.'

Before anyone starts in with 'you're not entitled to survive', no, you're not, but there's a difference between being entitled and feeling backed into a corner, like there's no hope going against him. At this point why not just spawn us in hooked, why don't ya?

    OR

'you were death hook anyway', at least with any other killer you're given the slim chance of wiggling off or your team may be able to help you with either flashlights or taking hits, but this killer negates not only some of the best second chance perks to date, but the most basic things you can do to survive aside from 'nOt GeTtInG cAuGhT'.

A competent killer can and will make use of any killer in their arsenal. Every last one has a very strong, very viable tactic, if not more than one and that will only become more over time as new perks and meta's are introduced. PH is still very fresh on the scene so only time will tell how he develops.

  • From my understanding of it, some people had lost their legacy and event items for no reason in an update, to those who are asking why they would just give it out.

I'd like to know, first of all, how this happened to begin with and have they fixed it so that it doesn't. They needed to have some sort of system in place that would be able to tell if you had the item or not so you wouldn't have to prove to them that you owned something, it'd be in their data and you'd be given your ######### back.

Love the hypocrisy in them saying that they weren't going to give out legacy because it means too much to those that earned it. Not that I ultimately care that much, but Kate's songbird top and the propain hammer meant a lot to me because it was my first event in the game and I worked so hard not knowing how to play at the time to get it, I was proud in the effort I made to achieve it. Now it was just given away as a consolation for them not having their ######### together and being able to give things back to people who should have never lost those things in the first place.

  • I went against a devotion 12 killer that showed me he had ~250 ebony moris on his wraith and about the same on another in screenshots after our match. Not nearly as many ivory, but like everyone is saying it depends on the killer because some don't have their own ultra anything so it'll be a guaranteed ebony when they do get one because there's nothing else 'ultra' to get.

Don't remember what we were talking for, nothing hostile. He was playing Legion and damn good to boot though.

He said he probably would have twice as many ebony if he didn't use them every other game for trouble makers. From my time playing killer I definitely see them more often than people seem to want to let on. Gee, I wonder why.

I've been camped more than enough to know that only doesn't work if survivors try to unhook. I was once camped in a basement by an Insidious Bubba while using Kindred. Everyone saw him there, so they rushed gens. I hadn't reached halfway on the sacrifice progress by the time there were only 2 gens left. You know what happened then? They completely dropped the ball and two of them stopped working on generators just to come and "rescue" me. The killer ended up with a 3k.

Survivors are primarily responsible for camping being as big of an issue as it is. If they stopped rewarding it, it would stop being a problem. However, despite them having created the problem and having the key to solve it, they want the devs to punish the killer for playing in a way that they (survivors) make worthwhile.

If you think my scenario is unreasonable despite all those coordination perks, then point out the ways in which it's unrealistic. Make a more realistic scenario, still taking into account all the facts (survivors spawn directly next to generators) and the premise (that survivors are using all those coordination perks and the killer camps every survivor to death).

You act like I don't know what it's like to be camped. Dude, I have over 2k hours in this game at this point amd I'm devotion 9. I've seen it all. I've never asked for things to be skewed one way or the other because I obviously enjoy playing and don't want the game to go to utter #########. I'm going to call out bs when I see it because I'm not letting some false narrative dictate the direction this game ends up going in.

I agreed when Ghostface came out that he got exposed too easily. I've agreed that noed is fine as is. I can't fathom why people protect face camping so vehemently as if that's fun for anyone involved or should be an acceptable way to play every game.

I agree that was stupid of them to do in that scenario, but I can't be expected to control what other people do. If I knew someone was getting face camped that hard? Sorry, but unless I have BT (which I never bother running) and knew I could get the save, I'm not coming just to give him another kill he doesn't deserve.

I don't typically play in a 4 man and if you ever have, you'd know people don't listen to reason. They see a teammate struggling to death who also wishes to be able to play who's probably asking for help. It's awful to have to ignore that because you know in the end it'll cost you more than it's worth, but if you want actual progress you have to ignore it. In the end if everyone complied you get a max of 3 gens done typically and that's basically if all conditions are perfect.

That said, I don't feel like I should have to be explaining why it shouldn't be okay for someone to face camp you to death on your first hook with little to no gens done and this brings us back to the fact that we shouldn't be the ones having to balance the game out for them. We shouldn't be tasked with punishing killers for doing something they shouldn't be or do you want more perks like DS for people to complain about?

I don't know about you, but I rarely ever jump on the first gen I see. That's how you get three gen'd or snuck up on because you have no awareness of the map you're on or what you're up against.

Also killers can't instadown a survivor at the start of the game, so survivors HAVE time to find gens.

Every time when a killer come out a facecamp better then the surviros (and there is no huge skill gape between them), then they desperatly wanted to save them. Don't do it. Do gens. Period. In worst scenario he can kill 2 survivors.

If you think killers can win games only cause this, then you maybe really forget that the survirvos are the prey for the Entity, and shouldn't be stronger then the Killer. Or the whole point of the game is gone.

Killers can't insta down? Let's see.

Billy. Leatherface. Ghostface. Huntress if she's good with hatchets or has iri heads. Clown with pinky finger. etc.

Y'all grossly underestimate how quickly you can go down no matter how skilled you are.

I'm not asking for survivors to be more powerful than the killer. Nobody in their right mind is. Don't think it's unreasonable to be asking that people be reasonable and not face camp someone to death on their first hook with no gens done shortly into the match. Can't believe that's too much to ask. 🤷‍♀️

I spawned once and got exposed by a Ghostface literally two seconds after taking my first step. This isn't a common occurrence, but I was flabbergasted. He must have spawned looking directly at me before I could even look around. He had exposed me and was close enough to get a hit not even 10 seconds into the match starting. Not only did I spawn within view of him, I spawned in a dead zone on the map. He then proceeds to face camp me in the basement to death. I waited an hour to get into that match. Fun and balanced, right? But nah, let's keep defending this behavior. 🙄

120 seconds to die on the hook. Assuming a survivor is caught and hooked in 60 seconds, that's 180 seconds. Gens take 80 seconds to complete and survivors always spawn directly next to one (travel time is essentially zero), so by the time the survivor has been on the hook for 20 seconds, three generators should have been repaired.

You then have 90 seconds to repair two more generators and open a gate, assuming it takes 10 seconds to reach the next gen (it doesn't, it's a gross overestimation). Gates take 20 seconds to open, true, but with three survivors and two generators, one of those generators is going to be repaired in around 50 seconds, with two survivors working on it. The last one will be done very quickly as well, with three survivors working on it, and you'll have plenty of time to open the gate and GTFO before the hooked survivor dies.

Now, you're probably thinking this requires too much coordination, right? The good news is that the devs have you covered.

Those perks will allow you to have increased coordination, even if you're playing solo survivor. You can also bring a map if you want, that will help as well.

Thing is with this you're assuming a hell of a lot and the attitude is not helping your case (and don't act like you don't have one with the snarky 'but the devs made these' comment).

It's one thing to have a scenario, it's an entirely different and disingenuous thing to map out a theoretical game to the very second and base that as fact for your narrative that every game works that way when you know it doesn't. This is equivalent to telling killers to just 'run the perfect build at all times' to any and all scenarios. That isn't an answer. The survivors nor the killers should be tasked with having to balance the game for the devs. Hell, that's what one of Cheryl's perks is. The only direct counter to Pop. Have a problem? Just make a perk for it. That's how they fix things.

At the end of the day all you're doing here is protecting a #########, lazy and effortless play style and before people go 'but the devs allow it'; if the devs wanted people to play like this and solely like this they wouldn't have implemented a penalty for being near a hooked survivor point blank period, no matter how meager it is.

God forbid someone actually wants to play the game. At least when you play killer there's no impending threat of the survivors taking you out of the game so early you get not only no points but have no fun whatsoever and get to go back to a horrendous que. Even if you have a crap fest of a game, you still only que for a minute or two before finding a new match as killer.

Spawn camping in some games is allowed, doesn't make it right. People are still gonna do it, it sucks and there's nothing you can do about it but move on because there will never be a fix. People are gonna be #########, that only reflects on them. 🤷‍♀️

Alone the possibility of it happening steals the motivation of many players.

If you're that easily desuaded this ain't the game for you.
