Actually there is only one good way to make "lobby targeting" disappear. MAKE IT SO MUCH HARDER TO TUNNEL, that's it.

For this there must be a huge benefit in hooking different people multiple times.

I'm ok with it hiding survivor prestige but I feel like it is annoying that I cant see my teammates at this point I don't think me p100 is worth it I should have gotten everyone to p6 I love killers not seeing survivor prestige but for God sake can I please see my teammates prestige

Why? To lobby shop for yourself?

  • @MasterofDungeons said:

This really needs to be an opt in beta, like the wiggle change. And if it IS implemented eventually in game, it needs to be an option that you can turn on and off.

So that those who turn it off are targeted like the P100's are now? No thanks. Either all or none.

If matchmaking is such that is so disproportionate in player skill that says something about a declining player base, so hiding the fact that you either have a problem with new player numbers or departing seasoned ones or mid level ones walking away from it, I dont believe this is the fix to your problem.

I'm relatively new, started slightly before que times were terrible in my limited experience, a few months before the 7 year anniversary, so I'm not what you'd call good at the game by any stretch. During the first few months of playing the game was engaging, as a killer, and I found the matches to be rather close. As a survivor, random teams seemed 50/50 whether I'd get some sandbags or players that didnt even know how to use perks yet, or we'd get your random p100, so thats always been just a mixed bag it seems, but for the most part I don't seem to recall being utterly outclassed by a killer before this either playing survivor.

Lately I've had nothing but survivors with the ability to endlessly loop, gen rush, and whether they are random or a group of friends out to troll completely one side a match to where I'm close to hanging up the game altogether. I'd say the not very fun matches I've had in the past week or so are 3 to 1 in ratio. I don't play games to be frustrated, so this newly implemented feature makes it fun for your veteran players. Not players like me.

You're absolutely right at this point I'd lobby shop. As a guy who's trying to develop skill and learn the game, I don't find an environment where I'm completely dominated for most matches conducive to learning and enjoying the game.

I'm sure all the higher level players who are doing the destroying of killers or high ranked killers who are getting a group of babies are absolutely loving the idea.

I'm certain if you look at the data you'll see their ranking going up steadily as newer players like me stagnate or get worse.

This is not a welcome change, as I absolutely would leave a lobby after waiting 5/10 mins to join up with a group of level 50+ flashlight holding survivors.

You as a developer need to find some way to either retain a player base or be more inviting to newer ones. Not put a bandaid on the problem by masking a disproportionate skill level in matchmaking.

From the player perspective, if you're enjoying the total domination of lesser skilled players as a skilled and seasoned one, especially due to this change... well I don't see how that's that's very fun at all.

If you're wondering why a killer would go sit in the basement and wait out the time after being flash-banged, permablinded, head-on at every locker, pallet stunned at every corner, and has gotten perhaps 2 hooks in 4 gens, this is why. This cannot be an engaging experience for them either.

Seems to me this speaks to a real problem of a good game hemorrhaging players and not gaining new ones, so my suggestion is focus on how to compete with that rather than just masking it with the inability to see how one sided match ups have become lately.

So I will gladly pick any of my P3 to P9 survivors so you don't doge me. It doesn't matter. I have still 6.5k hrs whether I play my P100 Jeff or my P3 Nic.

I can be sick of certain things too but my feelings or emotions don't change the fact that some people might have valid points or concerns about things on here.

Like I said: how about trying to work around the perk for some time before complaining?

  • @UndeddJester said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3541959#Comment_3541959

I play both as well, though I tend to lean killer side... You have a lot more experience me, I can't claim that I know better... however...

Dead Hard was a problem because it was an extremely strong perk that bought a lot of time for survivors, that was very popular and so prevelant that it forced Killers to play in an inefficient way (faking swings, and taking gambles on whether they could swing or not in close chases) just because of the threat that it might be in the Survivors loadout.

Ultimate Weapon is also an extremely strong perk that cuts down a lot of time for killers, that a not insignificant number of people ( who are better informed than me), would say is stronger than any other tracking perk in the game. I have no doubt it will become very prevelant on killers, and as such will force survivors to play in an inefficient way (stacking up on Calm Spirit and possibly even Counterforce to deal with hex perks) just because of the threat that it might be in the Killers loadout.

Even people defending it say it's a strong perk that Killers need with the upcoming anti-camp and anti-3-gen mechanisms coming to the game... You yourself said in order to to deal with it, just take Calm Spirit so it's fine... I don't think the comparison to Dead Hard is completely unjusitified.

DH could extend loops for ages. UW helps you find people like with BBQ or Lethal or other info perks. It does not shorten the actual chase in any way (or does it auto break pallets, locks windows or insta downs?) so it cannot be as strong as DH. It does not stall gens either. I would say it is on a similar level as WoO. It is just information but a powerful one.

I will deal with UW as I dealt with aura perks back in the day: I learn how to play around it. Distortion was on similar use as Calm Spirit now. Nobody used it. Now many use it because Aura perks are popular. Of course killers will swap to a perk that is not countered by Distortion. It is how it goes.

  • @UndeddJester said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3541917#Comment_3541917

Yes ofc the killer chases, but it's a proximity radar my guy, they don't have to catch to be getting value. Usually 1 person goes for the unhook while others stay on gens, and getting found as you come in for the unhook is really bad as you either lose a hook stage on the hooked player, or you have to trade. However you are guaranteed found vs. UW... so you have to send 2, which is a big deal already.

Thing is if the Killer has one affected with UW, pushes them away, the other tries to move around for the unhook, but they can't see the TR... they can't even hear the TR before they get hit... and then they get found too, so they can't go for the unhook without at least a trade either.... and I stress... AT LEAST a trade. That's fine once... but you can do it repeatedly cause its so easy to use UW. There is no limiting condition.

This is one scenario... I'm a killer sided player man... and Calm Mind is not a good perk to be forced to take to deal with UW. This perk is extremely verstaile and is useful in so many scenarios. It's not a decent perk, it's extremely strong... and if you value any other detection perk over it, then you're just objectively wrong.

It's bad for the game dude... if you have ever compained about Dead Hard or Decisive Strike or MFT, you don't get to say this perk is fine without your bias clearly on display.

This perk is NOWHERE near as bad as old DH. And I never complained about MFT or DS in the first place. The latter never bothered me as I never tunneled. Problem solved.

Legion is a whole radar. Nobody complains. NtH is also a radar with auras on high mobility killers. Nobody complains either.

This game should be about teamwork, not about "how can we do all 5 gens in 3min". And this perk promotes teamwork.

I am completely fine with that.

And before you say that I am a killer main, I am not. I play both sides.

  • @Venusa said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3541917#Comment_3541917

They made such a valid point and your only argument was "well then use calm spirit"... Really?... Yeah because we all know countering x problem with y perk has been such a healthy bandaid fix for the balance of this game for years...

That was the same back in the day when more aura perks were implemented (Distortion was niche use and bad) or when Infectious got added (people thought that it promotes slugging). All were complaining about it but all died down eventually.

I am sick of people who just complain about everything first and don't try to deal with it themselves.

The only time you loose when the killer has this perk is if you are the last survivor and you need to open an exit gate. But so are Tapper, SM, Artist, Knight or the perk NWO.

If the killer chars someone when they have UW they are occupied. If they swap targets then the person who was chased cen get the unhook as they already screamed.

And yes, even if Calm Spirit is "bad" it is a viable counter against anything that makes you scream. Not only UW, but also Eruption, IF, (Jolt), SH:PR and Doc.

  • @UndeddJester said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3541911#Comment_3541911

See that would be true if the effect didn't linger on the killer, but since it does, the Killer can also know that noone is nearby, and for the next 30s they can find anyone coming in, push them off coming for the unhook and blind them as well, so you can't even use Kindred to try and play around the camp.

So for the 60s of the survivor dying on hook 30s of those are basically defended for free... and tbh anyone with a brain will use a locker after a few seconds, not immediately, so that number is realistically more like 45 seconds.

Then the killer chases that person. I do not have seen this perk for camping so far. It is a new, decent killer perk in a while now. If you are so bothered by it then equip Calm Spirit.

  • The perk actually shows you to when camping is valid and when not, which BBQ cannot do reliably as Distortion is very popular nowadays.

So if the killer sees nobody with UW they know it is safe to leave, but if there are multiple screams right after a hook, it would be dumb for the killer to go and let them get free unhooks.

  • Dorito Head/Toblerone = Pyramid Head

    Thanos = Nemesis

    Neo = Wesker

  • @ReverseVelocity said:

They're probably not going to fix this because the game is meant to be locked at 60 fps for some reason.

  • Wesker.

I love to play as and against him, he has a high skill ceiling, good addons and is a lot of fun too.

He was also the first killer I mained after Freddy got nerfed so hard I gave up on him. No other killer could really satisfy my playstyle till Wesker came.

  • I have a similar issue although I am on PC and I had 0 problems before the patch today (I played today before it went live).

This problem only occurs when I pick up or hook someone and not even always then. No drops on survivor or during chases.

That sounds neat actually but that would still be dependent on bringing it into a trial you don’t know you need yet. Idk I think it’s weird they took flashlight from killer powers but still kept nemesis’s flashlight to zombies when their initial statement was they didn’t want to have perks or items to be a counter to killers power etc so it makes no sense to not make a change to the zombies

    True.

But now that FLs are disabled, I use crackers but you only get one. And that is why I remembered this addon.

  • @chibizodo said:

Can we get an alternative to Nemesis and his zombies already? You guys have said before that you didn’t want to hinder a killer or make a power base work with flashlights or other items such as burning wraith with flashlight or getting rid of the hag traps. But you left nemesis out of the equation with his zombies. Could we get a way to distract the zombies without using resources??

This would be the moment to announce addons for firecrackers, so that you could carry more than one at once for example.

If I remember correctly there is actually an unused addon which gives crackers additional uses.

  • I just had a game of chess like this a few days ago (on Saloon, guaranteed 3gen at the gallows).

    Not fun.

  • @BubbaDredge said:

Am I finally senile? I think I see prestige levels in lobbies.

Either way, a P100 has played quite a bit, but that doesn't mean they're super-good, or that they're going to mess over their team, often they're super-bold so they just die first.

I have more than 125 prestige levels scattered around, I'm pretty good, but none of you should be dodging me. I like unlocking perks, so I end up prestiging killers I don't even play. Most my levels are because of the millions I pumped into the bloodwebs just unlocking perks in the old system. Now I'm prestige 8 and 10 even on Nurse and Huntress, who I never play and really suck with.

Now any character you like playing will have a growing prestige because players have to buy webs for fresh addons. That's me with Bubba. I main Dredge now, but I like certain addons with Bubba that keep his P going up for just that reason. I'm not going to get way better with him, I played him for years and now I'm all about the Dredge. The number will go up, though.

You can get a whole lot of points in this game without winning, even without almost winning. Playing against differing levels of player is a good thing. If the MMR sticks you there, maybe it's right. If it's wrong, blame it. You got points and maybe learned something new.

A friend of mine has 3k hrs and her highest prestige is 16, because she always P9s all survivors when they come out (she does not really play killer).

She is a decent player but nobody would expect that as she has quite low prestige and only basic cosmetics.

I am the complete opposite to that: fancy stuff, a P100 Jeff, a P66 Wesker and a P32 Chris with most other newer characters at P3.

  • @Skillfulstone said:

I frankly think the whoke thing is pretty pointless. It won't fix lobby shopping, all it will do is change how people lobby shop even if it is just an optional thing.

If all prestige are hidden, then Killers will dodge based on skins and items more than now. This would prompt more people to switch to their preffered skins/items last seconds, making Killers bitter and lose interest in the game (increasing DC chance and probability of scummy playstyle).

If hiding prestige is an option, Killers will dodge more against those with hidden prestige.

In my opinion whether this changes goes through or not, all it will do is make lobby shopping different, it won't fix anything other than preventing people from showing off a bit before the game.

It will be the exact same as before the prestige change over a year ago. Nothing new. Ranks/Grades were also invisible until after the match back then, so why make all the fuss now?

Btw: back then a bug existed that made Grades visible like with Prestige now. They were not used for MM either. Guess what happened....

  • @rha said:

Then show killer prestige in lobby as well. I'm tired of playing against P100 huntresses who hit every snipe from across the map and P100 blights who do the craziest turns when I'm just an average player and the teammates I get are average, too. I also want the luxury of lobby shopping.

They will not show the type of killer ever, because then certain killers will always be dodged.

  • @Hex_Ecution said:

i dont understand whats the problem with it... Why i shouldnt be able to choose if i go against a p100 lobby? of course they dont play different with another character, but i simply want the freedom to say i dont want to play against a 100 lobby... especially with the matchmaking

Because the player they will get after you as backfill will be worse either way. Either they will get stomped or the killer will get stomped. You are making it effectively worse than it already is.

And like @Venusa said, the same group would take you apart if they were playing with their P3-9s. The only thing that would be different would be that you don't feel as bad.

This is why I could not play with my P100 Jeff for the last 6 months. I got dodged for no reason, tunneled or camped. Just because I played with a character I like.

Please understand that those numbers are just numbers and neither a good indicator for playtime nor skill. They just show you what character the player likes and how efficient they are at grinding.

Why? No one runs that perk for the rummaging effect. And even if so, just hit them again and the flashlight is on the ground as well. The bug abusers are usually ultra cocky, they will try to bait you into swinging onto the locker. And f* up from now and then. When you hit them at this moment, the flashy is gone.

Edit: Sorry, thought it was a response to using Franklins. You are right, if flashlights were killswitched, Redidual would have to as well!

My comment was more directed at the fact that if you start using Franklin's to get rid of any FL they have in a lobby, the trolls will use RM to get a FL during the match so you don't use Franklin's in the first place.

As long as flashlights are not killswitched or the bug is not fixed, I will consequently dodge lobbies with more than one flashy now!

    Problem: Residual Manifest.

Please my only issue with the alien as a killer is the tail spear feels like there’s no telegraph other than an audio cue that gives you no time to react unless you have super senses. this is even worse for people who are hard of hearing. there needs to be some kind of visual cue as well as give enough time to react to that cue. obviously this isn’t an issue when not in runner mode but i CANNOT rely on my teammates to set up any turrets and i can’t myself if im being tunneled non-stop.

, Xeno's whip attack is about 600ms long from putton pressing till hit. A little sound queue is heard at about 200ms, leaving 400ms to react. Average human reaction time is 270ms, leaving 130ms for latency which is not very much to put it mildly. That is not a proper time window to react to anything.

In addition Xeno's attack can be drawn like that of Nemesis with the pinpoint accuracy of Slinger's harpoon. There is almost no slowdown when you hit or miss (wich is currently bugged) so you can try again and again. And all this talk about "just evade it" are people who win 50/50s for the exact reason I mentioned above. There is no way you dodge a hit that has such a small time frame to react to.

Turrets can be avoided especially if using the addon which gives you more resistance. And from what I see it's that many survivors don't use the turrets for some reason to begin with.

  • I tell you what: you will still get campers, tunnelers and sweaty meta slaves on a casual mode. Just because players want ez matches too at some point. More or less.

  • That would be interesting. A black Meg with tattoos and a white Claudette.

it is called prediction. it is what meg did in farm map. the attack is not meant to have any counter-play out in the open because m2 is replacement to m1 attacks for xeno. your only meant to do predictions in the loops.

So it is always a 50/50. If I predict the M2 I get distance, if the killer is patient I get hit.

We had this kind of 50/50 play with old Spirit and it was hated because it was too much guessing.

  • @Frumpbeard said:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/7OIXECRFPJ7Z/image.png

Here is the spectrogram of a clip of a video, with 0 being the moment the tail whip button was pressed, and the end being the moment before it hits. You see that bump in the middle? That actually isn't me screaming the battle roar I make before every kill, that's the audio cue the tail makes before preparing to swing.

    https://streamable.com/jqrjun

So the entire tail whip is about 0.6s until it hits. The sound cue is around 0.2s leaving 0.4s of reaction time. The average reaction time of humans is at about 0.27s, leaving 0.13s. This is maybe enough to fit in the average latency of players in dbd if they live relatively close to the server, but God forbid one of the players has a ping higher than 80ms....

wich happens more often than you think.

You could be literally me. I never really cared about prestige to begin with.

  • @Zenislev said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3531679#Comment_3531679

This is exactly what I mean. Why should my games be worse because your feelings are hurt? Whether you like it or not, the number over your head says that you've dedicated a considerable amount of hours to the game. Whether the community has an issue with that and treats you differently is really not my problem. Take it up with the people harassing you, hell, you can report them if it's bad enough.

Either way, it doesn't matter, this is going to go through because the devs want to coddle you and the other survivors like you, so congratulations, you win, now my games are going to be worse, but that doesn't mean I'm not going to be upset about it and that I'm not going to voice my discontent. This change is a mistake and if the devs are gathering feedback I want them to know that.

And you seem to be someone who just looks at some numbers to measure their skill. This is why some people do not really level their main and just P10 everyone. They sometimes also have tons of hrs.

So according to your idea you would not dodge them, because they are likely inexperienced players who spend less time on the game. Guess what: they can also have 5k hrs like the dude with a P100. One of my best friends is one of those players. Her highest prestige is a P16 Meg.

Usually I don't care about prestige when playing killer but I anticipated that after they hid prestige for some people there would be more P100s in my lobbies. I took a 1 month break from killer due to holiday and therefore I was pretty rusty when I picked up my main Wesker again. I guessed that the 6.5k hrs dude would be a P100 and the one with about 3k would have a high P number too, but I did not think of the other ones as they were not on steam. After the match a big surprise: all were P100s and they were just happy they could play matches without getting targeted.

Playing a game should be fun, not an automatic harassment. So therefore it is good if the Devs hide prestige from the pre-game lobbies.

  • For me it's the lack of visual and audio feedback when Xeno does the tail attack. All other ranged or mid range killers have a feedback when they are about to use their attack so you have time enough to react: Huntress has to aim for example. There is a bit of delay so you can try to dodge. And in addition she is slowed while doing so. Xeno is not. I feel there is no real indication with Xeno. He just whips you before you can react and then can do it immediately again. His slower movement after a hit is bugged and does not always trigger. And I feel it doesn't even trigger when it misses, which leaves you thinking that you have no chance.

Same! I feel so weird not having to wait 5 minutes in lobby and the killer just instantly readys up.😭 I'm so used to expecting a couple of killers to pass by.

It has become a joke of me and my friends how many killers will pass by when I load into a lobby with my P100 Jeff. If they are instantly out, they left because of P100, if it takes a while for them to leave, they have seen my Steam profile and did not like the amount of hours they saw there 😅.

If they stay they either don't care or want to tunnel/camp me so they can brag about it.

What's the point of hiding prestige? I thought it was a good thing to know the skill level of other players?

No it isn't. I have a P100 Jeff and a P32 Leon/Chris on survivor side and a P63 Wesker. I haven't really played with Jeff since I P100ed him because I just get dodged all the time until a sweaty Blight remains. All other survivors I have are between P3 and P10. If I would play with one of those, you would never guess that I have 6.5k hrs. At least if you are not on Steam and are not checking my profile.

    Prestige =/= Skill

It just shows you the player's favourite characters and how efficient they are at BP farming. The first P100s that existed were a 4man team who farmed together and they were always switching to killer if they had the bonus on killer. It took them 2-3 months if I remember correctly. And then there was a guy who had someone else play for him while he was asleep.

If someone kills all 4 survs within a minute, if someone fly around the map, if someone gets hit 6 times in a row and loose no health state or exit the gate with no gens done that's hacking yes.

I don't know about the exact matchmaking/MMR stuff i only can give you a feedback of what i experience. And as i said if at least 2-3 survs are P50+ it's just torture for me. I would love to get a fair round against them but getting bullied by sandbagging/flashlighting/body blocking people bcs they don't want to play properly it's just trash. And sadly i never met a fair playing swf squad..

I'm pretty bad but i love this game so much. As killer i get from 10 round's maybe 1 x 4k and 4-6 rounds with 0 kill. Im still learning so much about this game but those rounds are just pulling my enthusiasm back.

OK those are definitely hackers. The amount of those depends on your MMR and region. Maybe I am lucky with both, I don't know.

As a veteran I can only give you the advice to try and counter flashlight or bully squads.

Sandbagging happens accidentally. Yesterday I sandbagged another player 2 times because I wanted to tank a hit because the killer was tunneling hardcore. Taking hits is a normal part of the game and not toxic or anything. It is very normal team play. Sure it can be annoying, especially if you have worked your behind off to get 1 kill and then that happens. Yeah. I know that feeling too. But that's the game.

Flashlight squads can be countered by knowing what they want to do: flashlight saves. It takes a lot of concentration to beat them and a beginner might really struggle with them but they are quite predictable. Lightborn (from Billy) would be a quick and dirty solution, but not one you want to go for all your dbd life. You have to be creative and very attentive to beat those groups. Fake a pick-up, hear for footsteps, do not get baited, be aware of CJ-techs (look that up if you don't know what that is) etc.

Often these people are very altruistic and that is what you can use against them.

I faced such a "bully squad" with about 21k hrs combined (2 players with 7k) when I was at about 4k hrs with mostly survivor play. What did I do? Play dumb, bait them into thinking they had the advantage, that I was a noob they could easily beat. They clicked at me the whole time (don't get mad about that, as that's what they want), t-bagged etc. In the end I got 3 of them, because I baited them into doing a CJ-tech. the salt in chat was delicious.

So long story short: you can beat those squads with patience and a bit of knowledge.

I play now for 3 month's and I already reported at least 10.

It's just frustrating if i think about to get constantly wrecked if I can't avoid SWF or people with 400+ hours. That's why im hoping for an fair matchmaking if this gets fixed im 100% for y'all opinion. To avoid those lobbies isn't fun at all and not my type of gaming.

Now I'm curious. You seem to be new. Are you sure those 10 players did actually hack? Usually it's just something you missed. Like an addon, perk or even just a crow that let them see you?

Because I know from experience that if you have good intuition as killer you will be called a hacker. And I also had someone accuse me of hacking because they thought Adrenaline only activates when the exit is open.

About swf: you will say that until you face a full soloq group that takes you apart. Or even 2 duos. Not all swf are sweaty.

Hours mean nothing. I have 6.5k hrs. Do I play like a god? No. Am I completely sweaty? No. I just want to have a great time with one or two friends of mine. I have seen people with 1k hrs to play like newbies and people with 200 hrs play like gods. If you restrict matchmaking to hrs, people will use smurf accounts.

Prestige just shows how efficient you are at grinding. It took me 9 months to get my main to P100 while playing almost daily. Now I am working on my next.

To avoid players like you dodging me over and over until just the try hard Blight remains, I played another character for the last 6 months.

Matchmaking is worse since they changed it from Ranks to this MMR. Welcome to the full dbd experience.

If the game is matching a brand new player with a P100 player it's an MMR issue not a Prestige issue. MMR doesn't involve Prestige so "show me your prestige so I can dodge" isn't a fix therefore your argument is invalid.

The more realistic scenario that happens often is killers lobby-shopping until they come across a P0 Claudette to stomp on and they are the type of players who would defend against hiding prestige.😉 This also ruins the game for the brand new Claudette but you would rather see the topic from a perspective that serves you only.

I want prestige to be hidden, so I can play my main Jeff again without getting targeted. It has been like this since I got him to P100 about half a year ago.

I really don't care about prestige when I play killer.

Same! I feel so weird not having to wait 5 minutes in lobby and the killer just instantly readys up.😭 I'm so used to expecting a couple of killers to pass by.

As someone who has over 6.5k hrs and a P100 Jeff.... Yeah, I get dodged often (or camped & tunneled).
