  • Death Is Not An Escape, but there are exit gates and a hatch if you have a key.

  • Not really. But if someone DC's and I'm slugged and another person is slugged and I get slugged a second time, I'm probably Disconnecting. Sorry, but I don't want to wait out being slugged if the last guy leads you on a 4 minute chase.

Not really but it depends on the situation, as someone who has a lot of hours in the game i can definitely tell the difference between people who genuinely GG after a game and the ones who do it in a taunting way.

I would say its different on PC and PS4 because PC has an endgame chat so why not doing it? But on console, going your way to message your opponents after a win is weird imo.

I feel like killers do it more, if they got a sweaty win for example, and the survivors still haven't given them salt they will GG them to get a reaction out of them, well in my opinion that's the reason they do it.

That's not my experience at all.

I've received ONE message from a killer in my time playing (granted that's not very long on PS4), which was to ask why I didn't farm. (They never indicated they wanted to!)

On the other hand, I get messages from survivors way more often. Either survivors who are salty, or who want to brag and act like the 14 year olds they are. Sometimes nice messages, too. A thanks for the hatch, or exit gate, or for farming after a DC. Sometimes just a GGWP from people who are good sports. It's a mix, though. I've definitely been tempted to turn off messages because of the salty ones I've been getting more recently, but I also met some really cool people.

  • GG is good sportsmanship.

GGEZ is poor sportsmanship and makes you look like a tool.

  • If that's the worst message you've gotten, consider yourself pretty lucky. I've seen racial slurs/homophobic slurs, threats, and generally idiotic insults. I reported to Sony, and hopefully they banned the person. But they never tell you if they did or not.

It only forces a lose lose situation if you decide to tunnel. Oddly enough, neither of these perks synergize if you get off me and go find someone else.

So tired of hearing killer mains whine about the survivor meta, but you clearly brought it onto yourselves. Do you think I enjoy wasting 2 perk slots every game just to defend myself against scumbags? Hell no! I'd much rather be running something quirky like Desperate Measures, Solidarity, Botany and Empathy. But the second you take UB and DS off, the killers tunnel you like their very existence depends on it.

So basically, sorry not sorry. Stop being rude and we can all get back to our respective, normal metas.

    "Just go find someone else!"

And what if I happen to find you working on a generator? You don't run off it, because you have invincibility time left. I'm not tunneling you, because you're working on a generator so you felt safe enough to do that.

One minute is also an awful long time. I don't see why I should just ignore you for one minute, during which time you can complete roughly 75% of a generator. If you just came off the hook, that's one thing. But when you sit on a generator instead of going and healing up that's another.

  • Mori Spamming can give people seizures and serves no other purpose. Flashlight clicking can have a use to get other survivors attention.

  • IMO Distortion should regain a token every time you're hooked. So a max of 5 tokens per match. I think that'd be fair.

  • Plague. You're essentially exposed most of the round, and if one teammate decides to cleanse you're exposed against a killer with range.

Deathslinger. Can practically hit you outside their terror radius.

Ghostface. I can never see him.

  • I do my best to play nice as killer, but sometimes it's really hard when survivors do gens so fast. If I see survivors struggling, I do my best to let up. But I notice that no survivors ever see me struggling and are like "Hey, maybe we should let up?" The only time I see nice survivors are when I'm dominating or they want to farm. And hey, when they are nice I'm nice back. Because I want to encourage good behavior on all sides. Would be nice to see more of it from Survivors, though. And not just toward their fellow survivors.

  • A girl who sets things on fire with the power of her mind. Kind of like Carrie. I just want to burn people. I'm sure you understand.

  • I'd also like to know how it works. If I own the physical copy of DBD do I not get the free copy for PS5?

  • Got called a 'camper' and 'tunneler' (along with much more toxic stuff) in a game where I never hooked the same person twice in a row, and always left the area after hooking someone. Apparently being on the map makes me a camper! Next time, I guess I'll just have to leave the map.

  • I think it comes down to experience. They can run super tight loops. This is why I like Hag. She doesn't care about 'loops' too much. When I try to run super tight loops, I always end up running into something.

  • Sometimes the Entity is a cruel mistress. "BBQ & Chili? But what about Monstrous Shrine? Surely you want that!"

Sometimes the Entity is kind. "Here's Hex: Undying, followed by Ruin! Enjoy, my child!"

But honestly none of this would be a problem if the grind were lessened significantly.

  • Honestly I think the change it needs is that it needs to gain a token whenever you get a basic attack. You could maybe change it to 8 tokens max instead of 6 if that'd make it too powerful, but I think that way it'd be more likely to get use.

  • My change:

    Gearhead

You've got an ear for well-oiled gears.

After hitting a Survivor 2 times with your Basic Attack, Gearhead activates for 20/25/30 seconds. Whenever a survivor is working on a generator, it will be revealed to you by a yellow aura.

Basically just remove the skill check requirement to bring it more in line with Surveillance. Possibly reduce the timer a bit to maybe 10/15/20 seconds.

  • All they really need to do is this:

Step 1: Create A HUD Icon for when a survivor is in chase (kind of like the obsession already has)

Step 2: Create a HUD Icon for when a killer is within say 12 meters of a hook

    Step 3: Buff Killers accordingly

You close the gap between solo and SWF, and then you can buff the killers a bit to make up for it since the gap is closed. Could probably add a notification when all 5 totems are cleansed.

That is a load of crap, sold by swf teams. I got a 4 man swf, they were terrible in chase, I would have decimated them in solo, but because they were instantly back on gens, the second I chased someone, and knew exactly where I was, they got down to 1 gen remaining before I slugged them all down for the 4k.

Bad team facing a killer that was way better than them, nearly escaped thanks to comms. If they had been my own level, I wouldnt have stood a chance.

They probably get all 4 gens done even if they were solo. Sounds like the average solo game. Not like people don't get right back on gens when they play Solo. Survivors don't tend to get off generators to mess around, and if those are the survivors you need to be able to win then maybe you're not as good as you think.

I mean what you basically said here is: "I would've stomped them at 2 or 3 gens if they hadn't gotten on gens."

considering all of Freddy's strengths, i always felt it balanced out

Hard disagree. While Freddy is quite strong, I think balancing him out needs to have BT work on him. OoO against Freddy is basically killing any and all mindgames. If I'm playing Freddy and someone has an OoO I will throw the game to camp the hell out of the person with OoO if I manage to get them down.

  • SWF with comms is only really powerful on really good teams with a lot of experience. If you have less experienced players, comms makes a much smaller difference. I've faced and played with SWF teams on comms and while they're a bit more effective--I don't think it makes as much of a difference as everyone thinks. Exceptions for teams running OoO.

  • If you disconnect you should get a message at the end mocking you.

    Like:

"YOU LOSE! COMPLETE AND TOTAL FAILURE!"

I mean killers get "Entity Displeased" if they have a mildly bad game. I think it'd be fair to tell DCers they lose. And if you actually get a crash you won't see the message cause the game will have to reload from the start.

  • You seem pretty set, and have no arguments. You're not a developer, so I'm not sure why we should care to try to change your mind.

There's nothing wrong with using what's given to you in a game, and if people say there is then ignore them. If you want to use DS? perfectly okay. Want to use BT? perfectly okay. Want to use a Key? perfectly okay. Nothing wrong with it.

    Cool.

Time to bring Stridor Spirit with an Ebony Mori. I'm sure you'll find the game super fun.

  • BT only bothers me when I'm chasing a survivor near the hook, and the survivor with BT comes rushing in to bodyblock and then has DS on top of that so that when I down them for their mistake, I get punished instead. Survivors don't want us to tunnel, but then throw themselves in our path. Are we supposed to ignore that? If you throw yourself at me, I'm going to down you and eat your DS and then tunnel you to death.

No, because my matches are usually slaughters or I get rushed into oblivion.

Aren't you the one who plays Gen Defender? I know several times I've gotten into Gen Defense mode, and survivors just hide it out. Just the other day I played a group who gen rushed the HELL out of me. I had two hooked, and they still got three gens done somehow. Then they got a 4th gen done, but they three gen'd themselves. Thanks to PGTW I managed to drain the one gen they had done much on, then they spent a good 5-10 minutes hiding in the basement. I couldn't find them anywhere on the map.

Well, for starters you can actually counter stealth with normal gameplay.

I can see a stealthy player with my eyes and tell what they are doing outside of a rare few exceptions.

If they're also stealthy survivor, unless they're trying to make you DC out of sheer boredom, then they're usually going to be in one of 7 spots that you as killer have full aura readings on.

Stealthy killers also have a telltale audio queue. Myers and Pig have their breathing, Ghostface has his cloak and Wraith has elephant footsteps and the bell. These killers naturally gain Undetectable as part of their kit, yet deny less information than Spirit. These killers have legitimate drawbacks, and I should know. I regularly play them!

You've never had matches where the last 2 or 3 survivors play for the hatch because they can't finish the gens, then I guess.

  • @PigMainClaudette said:

She is literally anti-game. Her entire power is based around the idea of removing information from the other side with little to no real loss of information for herself. This ENTIRE GAME is based on rhe information given and what you do with it.

You can also stand still and have it be just as effective as actually using your power. In other words you are rewarded for doing literally nothing.

    What's wrong with that exactly?

Survivors can hide in bushes all they like and have it be as effective if not more effective than running loops.

  • I hope the next original killer is female. Last one we got was Plague. Female Killers have been pretty great, too.

But at the moment all the other Hex perks feel that way. No point running them alone as they're too weak and bad RNG can have it gone within 30 seconds.

Some of them are, but that's a problem with those perks not with Ruin or Undying. Buff those perks, and nerf Undying slightly. It's all about risk/reward with hex Perks. Devour Hope is pretty good on its own. You get a decent spawn, and you can get 1-2 insta-downs easily. And massive slowdown as people start rushing to search for Devour Hope. Some maps have terrible totem spawn locations, but others have crazy spawn locations. Lerys, Midwich, Hawkins. With map reworks, we might see better totem spawn points since hex perks are a bigger part of the game now. Totems on Badham are pretty well hidden too. Easily got 5 tokens on Badham with Devour Hope.

That would make it absolutely worthless as a perk.

Right now there’s a 50/50 chance Undying goes first anyway in which case it does nothing. This happens to me often.

After that I find Ruin goes, then Undying, then Ruin. This proposed change would just speed up the process and boom 2 entire perk slots gone in an instant.

Leaving you with a totem its whole purpose. What good is the perk if your totem goes once Undying is gone? If you get 2 bad spawns its instantly game over.

People are only taking it because there’s no downside to Ruin being cleansed. The other totem perks like Devour, Lullaby and Third Seal all have a downside that is resetting their tokens. Ruin has no downside so why not take it? If Ruin became token based trust me a lot of killers would go running back to Pop and Corrupt and ditch both Ruin and Undying.

It'd speed up the process only a little. The perk would still be incredibly useful, but less overbearing. It could still potentially take you FOUR totems to cleanse Ruin. If you get two bad spawns, and they find Undying first, it's game over anyway.

Making Ruin a token-based perk makes it useless on its own. There'd never be any point to running Ruin without Undying. It'd just be too weak.

  • Blindness is a pretty good status effect as it is.

Hemorrhage needs a buff, but that kind of just turns it into Deep Wound.

  • Undying needs a slight nerf. Just make it so that any revived totems revert to dull totems if Undying is cleansed. It'd still be a powerful perk to combine with hex totems, but it wouldn't be oppressive and killers would maybe actually run other stuff. Much like if we nerfed DS a bit, we'd see some different perk usage but it'd still be a strong perk.

    So does slugging.

Like I said, by not kicking generators you are sacrificing Gatekeeper.

The whole point of this entire thread is that the mentality you are proposing literally deprives all sides of their emblems and a large portion of mechanical counterplay!

If you force a survivor off that generator while it's regressing, that's more time you have later. If they start tapping gens, then run Surveillance or Overcharge! I can't tell you how many times forcing a far-off survivor off their generator has helped me.

Kicking Gens is a waste of time unless you've got Pop Goes the Weasel or you're in a 3-gen. You're much better off getting in another chase and getting another hook.

Also, you can get plenty of emblems points just by killing people. Survivors emblems aren't my problem. The only way a killer can deny emblem points to survivors is if they camp and refuse to allow an unhook or if they're an AFK Wraith or if they just slug everyone. Survivors have a lot of control over their own emblems. You only get Gatekeeper points by keeping survivors off of gens. Kicking Gens provides extremely little benefit to gatekeeper.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1656930#Comment_1656930

    @GoodBoyKaru is right.

It's also why I suggested the one tactical slug with 4 alive, and literally an explanation of how that goes down. Like I also said, I'm that weirdo that usually runs Surveillance, so kicking a generator and having survivors freak out while I return silently is actually extremely beneficial to me.

If you tunnel or camp out one survivor, you have two or three literally with nothing to do but generators. It is literally more beneficial for both sides for you to literally walk to the other side of the map and kick the furthest generator even if you're playing someone like Trapper or even Deathslinger in terms of the emblem system.

Or, and hear me out -- you go and get into a new chase and down another survivor because kicking a gen on the other side of the map is a poor use of time. Best way to defend gens is hook survivors. It takes more people off of generators, and as soon as one kicks the bucket the game slows down immensely.

  • The time difference just isn't enough to actually make people heal. Maybe once EVERYONE is injured, but until then it's not making enough of a difference I think. Buff should've been a bit bigger.

On ps 4, i had a survivor spam me with messages over 3 days

    Why didn't you block them?

  • *plays survivor*

*Loads into match. Instantly hear Huntress Lullaby*

    *Plays killer*

*All Survivors spawn on the opposite side of the map*

  • Well, I just got my first truly Toxic Message. Racial Slurs, Wishes for me to get Covid, etc... And of course he told me how terrible I am at the game and how I camped and tunneled. (Almost wish I had video of the match, because even the most entitled of survivor mains would probably be like "Yeah, no. That's not camping or tunneling.") Feel like I'm a real part of the community now. If anything, I'm the one with a right to complain about them holding the game hostage by hiding in the basement for like 3 minutes instead of even trying to work on the last generator. Meh, some people just live sad pathetic lives I guess.

  • Eh, I don't think it's such a great idea. Some people who'd use it are pretty cool I'm sure, but some people are 11 and will just act as toxic as possible.

  • Practice Mode would be nice. Gives people a chance to test out the killers power before going into a live match and just getting bullied. I cannot play Nurse at all, or Huntress. But given the opportunity to practice and not get bullied by the opposition, I might actually try.

  • Just reduce the stun by a second. Maybe reduce the timer a bit too. That's all it really needs IMO.

  • I'm pretty sure everything on PS4 will just transfer to PS5.

  • -Buff Weaker Killers (Demo, Legion, Clown, Pig, Trapper, Wraith, Myers)

-Buff SoloQueue. Add hud indicator if the killer is within 12M of hook.

-Try my hardest to get cool licensed characters, but these Devs are pretty good at that so far.

-Buff a lot of perks. Nerf a couple others

-Nerf BNP's, Styptics, Mori's and Keys. And of course Iri head.

-Rework maps so they're more balanced

  • Best way to defend generators? Kill a survivor.

  • I get frustrated.

Yesterday had a game as Hag. I got a grab off a pallet (They were already injured), and... the first person just DC's. Denying me a stack of BBQ. So I go find another survivor. I down them in a typical average chase. They DC. At this point, I want to farm with the other two, but I mostly don't feel like it because I've had a bad day as killer facing a bunch of survivors that absolutely stomped me. (Including a match where three people escaped with a Key.)

As survivor, it's frustrating because you're now 3v1 and pretty much have no hope of escaping or safety pipping unless the killer is merciful.

  • When other people play her, yes.

When I play her, the hitbox is tiny.

  • So glad I moved on to PS4. And hopefully will get to move on to PS5 (Not sure how that's going to work.)
