  • See, that just gives gimmick games a bad name. I sometimes run goofy gimmick games just to have fun and see who I can get to play along. Like Santa's Helper Clown with Franklin's. When I knock an item out of your hand I stop chase and dance around the item throwing bottles at it until it's gone. Sometimes I get a group that ceases to care about gens and they focus only on retrieving the item. The goal is to get all the items before they escape. Then I thank the players for their donations to Santa's toy bag.

There have been a lot of fun matches with this. No derank intent, just fun.

I didn't mean to tease or anything like that. My question was pure curiosity (something I'm quite too often guilty of) and would have been followed with some headphones and sound settings suggestions.

I can only imagine how such tough work has hurt your earing.

Give it time. Being good with Nurse, whatever some like to pretend, takes really a lot of time. I know of one guy in this forum (or was it Steam's?) who has managed to be decent with her in only 300 hours (just for her) and that was fast. I feel the difference between me after 6000 blink attacks, 10000 and 22000. I'm pretty sure I'll improve still.

My apologies, I'm used to people being less than polite on these forums and mistook your curiosity for snarkiness. I appreciate your curiosity and engagement.

I don't sweat not being good at Nurse or the limitations I face as killer in general. I still enjoy playing many killers and consider myself to be competitive, at best in matches. It is more the toxicity that wears me down than anything.

    Happy hunting.

How is your hearing? I usually find survivors just hearing their breath. In a chase, when I'm on cooldown, most run away making enough noise to know where they are going.

Snarkiness aside, my hearing is shot due to working the flightline in the military. Unfortunately, background noises tend to drown things out. That said, I stand by my Nurse assessment. She is my favorite to vs, but I'm not very good with her.

  • Most people complaining are low skill players who want to hold w to get away. Nurse makes you jave to think outside the box. Palleta are useless, but every LoS breaker can end the chase if you are unpredictable. Nurse is my absolute favorite killer to vs. Chases are never dull. Hated her when I first started. Thought she was so broken. Then I learned to adapt.

She is very balanced when you weigh difficulty to master vs ability. I absolutely suck with nurse. I'm colorblind though and can't see scratch marks. I jave to track by movement and prediction. When Nurse looks down, I lose all chases.

Every killer has a chance against skilled survivors and SWF. Stop using Ms. Fundamentally Broken as an excuse for being bad with other killers.

You missed April Fools day, this would have been better then. Most killers are nothing but entertainment for a skilled team. M1 killers especially. There is a reason Trapper is clowned on regularly online. He's a victim more than a force to fear.

  • I don't understand the Nurse hate on tgis forum. She is my favorite killer to go against as you have to actually try to think in a chase. I play solo que or with my wife, who could not loop nurse if she could not blink. I love when I hear that shriek in the beginning because I know it will be a helluva chase soon.

Seriously, don't just hold W and keep breaking LoS while being unpredictable and Nurse is a blast!

    Can I ask genuinely?

What's so wrong with accurate and good representation in media especially since in the past media representation of certain groups have be extremely harmful and incorrect

Please don't missunderstand me here. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it and I think when done right it enhances plot, environment, etc. It is the constant validation aspect that is the problem. Businesses toss out representation as a gimmick to appease those with valid self value issues. People looking for that validation now request it areas it should not really matter.

For instance, a fictional slasher game where story and lore are tertiary at best. People who can't find validation in life and can only associate with someone who looks like them or has the same sexuality tend to exhibit more self esteem issues and lack of self understanding, thus companies take advantage of it to appease. It is sad.

EDIT Probably too deep for a discussion board though. I've just seen a lot of people struggling with these issues.

TFW cishets have to see a piece of media that isn’t 100% cishet:

Have you tried getting over it? There doesn’t need to be a reason to have representation. People EXIST. Lazy representation is still representation. All representation is good representation except bad representation. Because it is still more representation. It literally does not matter what percent of a game’s characters are LGBT+ compared to real life. Get the hell over it and stop projecting your own insecurities.

You may want to take your own advice. lol No insecurities here. Nobody's race, gender or sexuality bothers me, especially when we are talking about real people as I believe everyone should be treated with decency. I'm more concerned with the growing mental health of those obsessed with representation in games and fiction. It's not healthy.

  • @M4dBoOmr said:

I just don't get why representation so important?

I am a "discriminated minority" myself and I couldn't care less, if that gets put into a game... don't play games to get representation

but maybe it's because of a lack of imagination of today's people to have that things explicitly need to be said...

I've long been baffled by this. When I grew up, I read comics and found great inspiration in many figures. I associated myself heavily with the character Storm in the X Men. She was of strong mind, spirit and dedication to ideals I held dear. If asked who best represented me, it was her. Thing is, I'm not a black woman from Egypt.

Representation in today's culture is highly unrealistic. The percentages are way off and the people clamoring for it seem to have an unhealthy need to only associate with their race, gender or sexuality. That is a very unhealthy lack of self appreciation, imagination and self worth.

Nobody can jave a healthy self image if they require a video game character to be the same physical representative of themselves in order to enjoy the game. It's make believe........either pretend or go play a less imaginative game like checkers.

  • When I play, I really don't focus that much on kills and escapes. I'm more focused on BP. If I get lots of BP, I don't care about the rest as much. See, when I did play I only had so many hours in a week to play. Therefore, I needed to rake the BP in fast so I can actually get somewhere.

Most casual players don't have 20 hrs a week to play. Those BP perks were really nice for assisting in getting that perk, or a few addons, etc. By removing those BP bonuses from those perks, and the grind not being as reduced as they thought, it really discourages many from investing time for less payoff.

I think it was a bad move.

Yeah but then you just hit the survivors and continue to chase the unhooker.

Not exactly. In many circumstances I'm not chasing either, but the unhooked body blocks at a doorway and I lose the other survivor. At that point I've tried to avoid both the vamp and tunnel, but it was forced on me. So tunnel it is.

  • I don't put anything past BHVR. I have several killers and survivors maxed out, but not prestiged.

  • @GoshJosh said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3042576#Comment_3042576

Then you can get pressure by slugging them or forcing them to mend.

Not exactly my fault that you chose to body block with DS, why does the killer have to pay for that? Mending takes a couple of secs and slugging is useless without a slug build as WGLF or any number of perks will have them up in seconds.

Tunneling is the answer here. If they insist on you downing them, finish them and tip the scales.

  • @dspaceman20 said:

No one forces ds on anyone. You the killer chose to go after the survivors even if they tried to bodyblock you.

Not so true. When I try to avoid the unhooked player, but they block a doorway while I'm chasing someone else, thats not a choice, it is either swing or be stupid and let both go.

Survivors really jave zero room to complain about tunneling when they insist on body blocking with DS and BT.

  • @scenekiller said:

    I'm of two minds.

1). On paper, it definitely sounds like a lot, yet

2). This really wouldn't bother someone who didn't tunnel the same person immediately.

I try and avoid tunneling at all times, yet I always fine a recently unhooked survivor blocking my path even though I was not near the hook and chasing a survivor not involved with unhooking. Funny how Endurance is weaponized in every match.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

They definitely know what they're doing. A game doesn't last for 6 years with this large of a population on sheer luck. I just disagree with the direction it seems to be going. They seem to be doubling down on casual non-competitive aspects and lowering the skill ceiling from a macro gameplay perspective. And I vehemently disagree with going in that direction.

There are a lot of poorly run games still going after a decade. A creative team is one thing. A team that understands how to measure the impact of their creativity is another. There is zero reasons this game should not have a bigger player base than it does. Poor balance and bad development hinders its growth.

  • Been saying for 6 years that the dev team has a horrible quality control and brainstorming process. They can never seem to see how a new power, perk or change will interact with the other powers, perks and play styles. Example, the minute I read all the Endurance buffs, my first thought was how survivors could weaponize them in a team and how overpowering it could become. 80 seconds on OTR?! WTH are they smoking?

BHVR has very creative minds, but zero critical thinking skills. Measuring the impact of a variable on the environment is all about critical thinking. This is an obvious weak spot for this company.

  • Killers stopped having fun a long time ago. MMR obliterated the enjoyment for many killers. That's why so many dropped off. I played for the first time in 4 months during the event and it was pure misery. Jumped to survivor and had more fun, but got bored and now I'm done after 3 days of playing.

Many casual killers quit, and now you are stuck with more campers because the pool became less watered down and those who stuck around figured out camping and tunneling was the best tactic in MMR.

  • @woundcowboy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3030085#Comment_3030085

Except that most major developers do balance around top level of play. They do just fine and the games are better balanced

Those are the exception not the rule. The games that do that tend to be the ones on the competitive scene with a lot of money riding on top tier players. Less than .1% of games fall under that category. Those games are also not asymmetrical.

  • @woundcowboy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3030405#Comment_3030405

Again, if none of this matters, then why nerf any killer or survivor tactic? The pure and simple truth is that people want to win and feel badass without having to try. To which i’d say, play a single player game. You’re not entitled to win against someone who has been playing longer.

The hard point to balance in this game is "fun". Thus why they struggle with the camping and tunneling. The killer often finds themselves needing to tunnel the first person out to slow things down. That person does not really get a chance to play or do much. So, they are trying to adjust things so the killer does not need to do that to slow things down and the player can stand a better chance if they are tunneled.

There is a logic there, but not an easy thing to balance.

  • The truth of the matter is the top tier players, not those who think they are, but those who really are, cannot support this game. That's right, there are not enough of them, period.

It somewhat amazes me how this elitist movement in video games has really spread over the past 30 years. 99% of the online games out there are vastly supported financially by the casual fan and middle of the road performer. If a company caters to the top 1 to 3%, they lose in most cases.

DbD is a casual party game. It is not a competitive esport style game. (Don't try selling me a pile of rocks by describing the competition aspects of the game, Go Fish has competitive aspects but I don't see million dollar tournaments and ESPN 8 covering it.) There is zero reason to cater to the top 1%.

Oh, and what is up with the person who claimed that casual players in this game don't have the skills to play this game? Talk about the most bloated statement I may have ever heard on this site, that may be it. Do you go to the beach and judge whether children's sand castles are up to par as well? Maybe go knock over a backgammon table at the nursing home as well for their lack of skills. Seriously, this is a joke game meant for jump scares and fun. Take a breathe, your elite status is recognized by nobody who cares. lol

  • Ruin just got destroyed.

Pop got nerfed, especially when you realize what "current progress" means compared to the old Pop.

Scourge got a major nerf, but that nerf hits Dead Man's Switch even harder than it does SRP.

    Corrupt got hammered pretty good.

Thanataphobia is now just what it was originally, and it was never used back then.

The slow down perks were heavily reigned in. I'll be shocked if you see Ruin used at all in its new form.

When was the last slowdown perk introduced? SRP? There are not any new ones for quite some time, so your rant about 3 new ones with every killer is seriously off.

  • Wow, I'm dumbfounded at how dumb of a change this is. What are they thinking?

We're very aware of that (we actually mentioned exactly that in the dev update). However, we do not want people to always have one perk slot locked in just for bloodpoints. Your perk choices should be the perks you want to run, not the ones that make the grind manageable. There was very little reason to run other aura reading perks when this one gave both information and doubled your bloodpoints.

We made sure to pair this with a huge grind reduction and new ways to earn bloodpoints to compensate, but this is ultimately a step that we need to take.

One of the top reasons to run killer is more BP for your time and frustration with BBQ. How will this be accomplished now? Honestly, why should I put up with the absolute annoyance of playing killer when I can no longer get a significant bump in my BP per match? The joy of playing killer was obliterated with MMR, so BP was the only real driving factor. Add in how absolutely useless BBQ is without the BP. Seeing someone across the map on Trapper does absolutely nothing for me. By the time I get 40+meters away, they are long gone. I can't count on them being close if I don't see them as they could be in a boon, locker or running an aura-blocking perk. BBQ is absolute trash now.

This feels like a very poorly thought-out move, which is often par for the course.

SBMM is much better than the old system.

I've been coaching a new killer main recently. When ranks were used for matchmaking, you would be playing against 4-man rank 1 SWFs within a week. He's been playing for a couple of months and his matches are still mostly fair. They are getting harder but it is a much softer learning curve than it used to be.

Thos still happens regularly. My son decided to return and play killer 3 months ago. It was one sweaty 4 man after the other. He quit within a week.

The current system is even easier to game than ranks were. In the rank system you had to go AFK to lose ranks. In this one you do all the gens, stay and play for a while. Open the gates and refuse to leave and you get lots of BP, bullied the newbie killer and still lost MMR while pushing the killer's up with a 4k.

I saw several instances of this when he was trying to learn killer.

  • @Audiophile said:

I report them as unsportsmanlike every time. The game is balanced to a 4 man swf. When playing as solo there’s often an instant DC. So we now have an already unbalanced game (killer is favored vs solos) become insanely unfair. Since Behaviour can’t figure out a fair way to deal with immediate DCs it’s MY OPINION that it is unsportsmanlike for a killer to play a game that is wildly unfair and balanced in their favor and they should just make it a farming game instead of beating up a team that is stuck in an unfair match since Behaviour wont let us quit in these situations. Just throwing it out there… It’s your system Behaviour. This is how I interpret it.

Durvivors who play SWF ad if it's fair. The core design of the game depends on 4 individuals with limited communication capabilities. SWF on comms breaks that. I think it was foolish to not anticipate players organizing and getting on comms, but that is how it was originally designed.

I don't want SWF gone, as it is fun for friends, but it seriously puts the killer at a disadvantage. Yet, SWFs still maximize their perks and items and give it their all. Why not?

Aww bless their hearts. I can definitely tell you are a fantastic cat parent, and I'm so glad they've brought you so much joy (without going into my own background too much, I can very much relate to the feeling). I can also absolutely understand the anxiety of making sure they get good forever homes. If you get in contact with a foster, and if it is something you are ok with, you can always request the foster contact you if a homing doesn't work out for one of them. It is not super common that that'll happen, many experienced fosters check potential adopters well, but it can bring a bit of peace of mind. Definitely mentioned before, saying goodbye when they go to a home will be incredibly sad, but you'll have all those memories and pics and videos, and the knowledge you gave them a safe, loving start on life <3

And I too definitely understand the welcome distraction! Many of them are my "co-mods", they usually loiter around when I'm at the computer. Our late cat, Robin, would hang out and watch me play DbD very often (my friend once thought his meow through my headset was a Nurse screech and panicked 🤣), and the new kitties are starting to wonder about me when I'm playing too (and they LOVE DbD streams, especially when it shows killer lol my lil apex predators)

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2985993#Comment_2985993

Thank you <3 Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love dogs too, I was around them since the first time I came home from the hospital as a wee baby mod lol I thinks more in terms of care, we prefer cats a tad more...and then we visit our friends'/family's dogs as often as possible.

And that is a handsome pupper, what's his name?! And... I mean, even big they are still cute, but yeah, as a teen, when my parents brought home a 10 pound German Shepard pup and he jumped in your lap, it was much cuter/less painful than when he tried to do it as a 120lb large lad!

His name is Garrus. Yes, we named him after Garrus Vakarian. We have a female named Edi as well. They are both Doberman and love to curl up in your lap.

It's comforting to know others have similar "technical difficulties" in this game. It's a real pain trying to set traps or catch a running survivor with his head pushing down on my mouse and the sad eyes looking at me because I've sat in my game chair and did not invite him up.

I'm not much for knowing how to fix some of the more complex tech issues, but I think I can handle this one:

    1) Go to your Kitchen

    2) Grab Cat Treats

    3) Return to Computer

    4) Execute Action "Shake Treat Bag"

    5) Run manual audio file "Pspspspsps!!!"

That'll usually return functionality to your game lol

Honestly, it's fine...she's probably better at Fall Guys than I am anyway lol

Best Mod post ever. And I'm totally team dog, so giving props to cat people is not easy. :)

    Resized_20210508_150758(1).jpeg

This guy wants in my lap when I try to play. Was cute when he was a 10 lb puppy. He's almost 100 lbs now.

It's a thing that was added in october 2016 and has never been changed, if you know some of the other stuff that existed then, you can understand why it got added.

It's very likely to see changes with the mori update this halloween.

But yeah, i think it's the most powerful thing in the game. It's something the community seems to want to ignore because when you bring it up in competitive discussion it makes the game seem like a joke.

It is a joke, but this add-on makes it too obvious.

Competitive? This game is not, never was and never will be a competitive game. It is a casual party game meant to be taken less serious. The reason it is getting worse is because players and devs try to treat it as one. There is way too many balance issues, starting with map design and size, for this to ever move in that direction.

    Don't confuse pvp with competitive.

  • There are few things more aggravating in this game than trying not to tunnel and play fair only to eat a DS in end game and watch them teabag at the exit.

Yes, DS can be very frustrating at times, even when you try to not tunnel, survivors find a way to force your hand just so they can use it.

  • LoL.

Sorry, just did not like it. Long time fan of the comic and really hoped it would be good. Unfortunately, I feel they really dropped the ball. Apparently I'm not alone as the movie did not do well at all.

  • @Tiufal said:

Cause Boons arent hexes. Stop comparing them as equal.

Boons are way better than hexes. They are quite strong and can be relit as often as you want. You can also override a hex.

Many hexes never even come into play before being destroyed, or blessed by a boon. There are less than 4 hexes useful from the very beginning and they are usually gone within 90 seconds. I can't tell you the last time I saw Devour Hope trigger.

    Boons are much more reliable.

  • Do you really think Disney would lend a character like that out to promote a Sony film? There is near zero chance Disney would be willing to license that.

Besides, the movie was a trash heap. Failed to grab the essence of the comic and Leto, as always, takes things to a whole other level of insanity.

This comment is the cringiest most misunderstood comment of all time.

The writers writing the lore are not the ones focusing on improving the game, and the artists making outfits are also not the same ones focusing on improving the game, sure the devs could just fire all their lore and art creators but things will still be fixed at the same pace, and adding more Devs doesn't fix anything if you understand the saying "too many cooks spoils the broth".

Wrong. It is not cringe at all. It is an example of you falling for distractions. They have proven time and again they can't walk and chew bubblegum. They pump out non-stop shiny objects intentionally because it distracts and gets buy-in. Meantime they invest nothing into the game to improve gameplay and QoL.

Just because you are easily distracted does not mean the rest of us are. If we stopped buying the latest cosmetic or gimmic item and told them to fix the game before we buy anymore junk, the game would suddenly get the attention it needs.

    EDIT

Before we get into the whole issue of understanding the graphics, lore and gameplay are different departments, think of how each is funded. BHVR made the decision to invest significantly into their costume design and lore hiring at the cost of hiring devs who could fix the gameplay and constant bugs. That was intentional. They count on lore and new shiny things to distract from the horrible game management. Some of us would like to see tgis game, which is a unique concept, fixed before it dies.

  • You guys are focused on the wrong thing. David is LGBTQ+, so who cares about bugs. The devs are clearly concerned with bigger issues than gameplay.

It's not like they can focus on both......silly players and their bugs.

Oooh! Is that a new costume for Meg!?

    Priorities........

Caveat: I have zero problems with the David development. Just wish devs would focus on fixing the dang game before worrying about things that jave absolutely no impact on gameplay.

It is not, but you dont need 3 or even 4 Slowdown-Perks. Especially not on the strongest Killers.

IMO, playing that many Slowdown-Perks makes the game really easy as Killer.

As fast as gens can go, it does not hurt to carry a heavy slow down build. Especially on slow m1 killers with little chase power.

Tgis is a foolish whine from people who don't truly understand the killer role.

  • First, your attitude is very biased. Telling killers to "cry" to BHVR gets you nowhere.

As a killer main who has enjoyed a long retirement from the game due to its horrible state, I can tell you gen rushing is NOT a thing. Survivors do gens, that is their whole focus. Blaming them for focusing on their one real objective is short-sighted.

The problem is 100% game design. There should not be an ability to do gens in inder a minute. Boxes, perks and multiple Survivors can knock out 5 gens in 5 minutes easily. Many killer and map combinations make it very difficult to stop a 4 man SWF hell bent on gens. The game has major design flaws that seriously hinder the killer vs a group focused on doing gens asap.

Some killers get very frustrated and blame Survivors for this. Many killers know the blame is on BHVR. Boxes should be limited in the number allowed in a match. There should be a soft and hard cap on gen speeds. Gens should have a natural regression to them. There are many ways to slow down gen times without handicapping Survivors to the point it's a reverse of the current situation.

I don't expect Survivors to run 2 laps before engaging a gen. I don't expect them to take a time out between gens. They should focus on gens. I should not be handicapped because I have an M1 killer and your crew has 4 boxes that you switched to at the last second, and a full round of gen speed perks. That is poor design.

  • @Aurelle said:

I'm sorry, but this is getting beyond irritating. Every match I play the killer tunnels the first person out immediately, and half of the time that person is me. DS doesn't even help because they'll just take the hit and go straight after you again. And the funny part is that the killer doesn't tunnel anyone else, just the first person. I would like to have a chance to actually play the game, thank you.

I hate to admit it, but tunneling the first person out is often the absolute best strategy. The developers have this game in such a state of imbalanced gameplay the killer is overwhelmed by 4 equal skilled opponents. Playing nice, spreading the damage and trying to avoid the tunneling and camping is just not smart ways to be competitive.

It is why I stopped playing. I'm a killer main, but I don't enjoy camping and tunneling all the time. Matches are too fast, too sweaty and filled with griefers now. Don't blame the strategy, blame the game state.

Tl;Dr (The community seems to hate healing, but when the no heal meta existed and people did gens, we hated that too. So what is the real issue)

This community confuses me sometimes (all the time) when it comes to the things that are complained about.

Thinking back to the pre-Self care nerf days where it was I think the most used survivor perk, the syringe was a legit full insta heal from the downed state, killers were upset with survivors healing speeds. So what happened, within I want to say 2-3 patches, Healing speeds across the board got nerfed, self care got its own nerf on top of that, the syringe got nerfed, sloppy butcher got buffed, AND thanataphobia got buffed (or maybe the Thana buff came later). I want to say Plague came out around this time as well making healing even less viable.

The response to that: Survivors started playing injured, dead hard became meta, and the birth of the "no heal gen rush" era began. Now the killer complaint was that survivors WEREN'T healing (I wonder why) and they were just doing gens.

Enter Boon: CoH and survivors have another decent healing perk for the first time in like 3 years and now it's a problem that survivors are healing again. Sure the speed of the heals was a little crazy when it first came out but that's been dealt with TWICE. What's the issue now?

"But the heals are infinite" So what? Why shouldn't they be?

"They set up boons in a dead zone and I don't want to chase them over there" Okay....and they have to use time to run to that dead zone after you hit them. Also, if they're on death hook, just commit to the chase and kill them. If the other survivors finish the gen in that time which is unlikely if the gens are at 0, you still have time to get 1 or 2 more before they can get the gate. You leave with 2-3 kills and everyone says gg (I know everyone doesn't say gg)

It's not about healing as much as the speed of healing. When players can heal during chase faster than you can get them down, that's a problem. Healing on the other side of the pallet twice for a full heal is too fast.

Fast healing destroys hit and run play styles, which several killers excel at. Therefore, you end up with more camping instead.

I prefer the survivors to ja e healing, mostly through med kits and each other. It means time off of gens. Since CoH, it is broken.

I have never seen Survivors who waited until EGC to lower their MMR. But the general nature of the DBD-"SBMM" makes it that good Survivors can have a lower Rating.

You can be a really good Looper, this does not help if you die in the end due to NOED. Or if you are an altruistic player, if you rather help someone else to get out, your MMR will be lower. Because it does not factor Skill in the slightest.

    @Topic:

More hours does not really mean that they need to be more skilled. E.g. I have over 7k hours, but I lose to Killers or Survivors who have way less than me. It is not the case that hours correlate with skill, a player who plays a lot will not be better the more they play. I have seen players with 12k hours who are not really good at the game.

I have seen it in more matches then I care to recall. 5 gens done, gates open and 3 survivors refuse to leave. They die and lose MMR.

  • I logged in to play for the first time since February. Back i February I played an hour and had to stop. That was the first time I had logged in since before Christmas.

So, I log in, jump into a match and get absolutely destroyed for 9 matches. Took 9 matches to get 6 kills for the ritual I was running. It was not until I started playing super sweaty in the last 2 matches that I was bale to break even.

The matches were all vs SWF. I faced 5 know streamers during this spree. My MMR is low, especially since I've been gone and they lower your MMR for the first few matches to ease you back. My first match was a streamer's swf where the lowest member had 8k hours.

Add in the insane amount of CoH and Boil Over and you jave some of the most miserable game play I've ever experienced. I logged out and likely won't return for a few months when I repeat this experience. Maybe I'll follow my wife and all my friends and uninstall the game eventually.

  • I don't think anyone HAS to do anything. I think it is a personal code for each player. Personally, I grew up in an era where we were taught to jave a sense of fair play and good sportsmanship. If a survivor DCs and it's early in what is clearly a solo que group, I'll likely take it easy on the rest of them. Just to make sure they at least get decent BP.

I don't expect others to do the same. Just like I tend to take it easy when I realize a killer is seriously outclassed. I'll give em chases and may even let them kill me. I don't give up, but I let them win the chase after the door was opened

I don't expect others to do the same. It's a personal choice. My mentality is from a bygone era that will likely never return.

Forever Freddy was slowing the game way too much thus causing nerf add ons. He brain dead easy as well now but I never understood why nerf the pallet Freddy.

Because the devs are not good at the game and kept falling for the dream pallets. I remember watching a clip of one streaming and claiming the dream pallets were op.

  • Total waste. Survivors heal fully by cleansing.

  • Because many of those 7-8k survivors are lowering their MMR. I used to get many matches where survivor SWF would destroy me, then refuse to leave after opening the gates. They clearly won, but lowered their MMR.

MMR is easier to game than ranks were. With ranks, you could not do much without zero pip'ing. Now, you can run the killer forever, do 5 gens, 5 totems, open gate, refuse to leave and lower MMR while leaving with 25k bp. Absolutely insane.

The problem was that while your matches varied between sweaty and casual, your 'casual' games were probably very sweaty for the other players involved.

Smurfing was so easy under ranks that even Fog Whisperers openly admitted to doing it. Yes, you can smurf under ranks - but as every killer has their own MMR, it's pretty time consuming and you'll struggle to get Iri 1.

I'd disagree on the sweaty concept. When 30 percent of your games are people meme'ing around and you start playing along, there is no sweat involved. I don't get any of those types of games anymore. I can't remember the last time I got a group just goofing around. Definitely before MMR.

As for the smurfing effort, there is little effort required now. As survivor, bully the killer till the doors are open, then afk till dead. Lower MMR and get 20k+ bp. Easier and more rewarding than ever.

As killer, you can play normal, just don't kill anyone. Get 20k+ bp and lower MMR. Easier than trying to raise MMR with each killer. Chili, hook everyone once and just chase, down, slug, kick gens and pallets. It takes less time to lower all your killer MMR while getting lots of BP than it did when we went by rank. Back then you had to afk for lots of matches, and then likely had to work around rank reset. Now you do it once and never worry about rank reset.

The current MMR is an absolute joke and measures much less in the skill area than ranks do. At least you jave to hit certain milestones in each category to rank up.
