  • Your objective is to kill them, for this use any means within the game and if that upsets them that isn't an issue for you.

I will note that once you go up the MMR you will be facing perks like Borrowed Time and Decisive Strike more frequently. Tunneling is not without risks. If I can give you a tip, is to take the games you have now to learn the tiles and multiple strategies it will help you in the long run.

The thing is that this hurts the newer players who come to the game and play killer more than anyone else because they won't have great perks either so they have rough games and just stop playing. More experienced players can catch up in other ways where as less experienced killers will feel hopeless.

The newer killers tend to face newer survivors, that aren't that efficient either and usually you have time to practice and make mistakes. From my own experience I found the more intermediate level the most challenging when you start to really get the basics, the level of survivors are going up and the power starts to shift between the two camps.

I don't understand what you mean you can only chase one survivor at a time which leaves 3 to do gens in the time it takes you to find, chase, down and hook 3 gens can easily pop.

Even if you slug one and one has to come off to pick up thats still 2 people on gens with only 2 gens left how do you apply enough pressure consistently in that situation?

You can easily end up with a 2 gen split on each side of the map after your first chase outside of mobile killers how do you pressure that consistently?

I never said I have a game play and stick to it but you can easily start the game where unless survivors mess up its pretty much over.

You ended up with a 3k because the survivors let it happen not because of skill if they wouldn't of got over confident and feed you kills(which does take skill to capitalize on) the match ends with 1k 3 hook.

You can pressure multiple survivors off a single gen, meaning that they tend to move to a different gen spreading the damage around and allowing your gen regression perks, etc. to come into effect before they are completed. 3 Gens can easily pop, yet with a bit of additional pressure this can be just 2. The first 2 are totally free though regardless of what you do as a killer, anything at 5 or 4 gens is purely on the survivors.

Well, how do you do this and how do you do that... well it is very situational dependent, as I have indicated before; want to see better players than I showcase it there are many streamers and youtubers that showcase it all the time. As a killer you need to learn how to pressure multiple people at once, how to create advantages situations, know when to drop a chase or when you are wasting to much time and it is smarter to switch it up. Sure things like CoH are annoying and extend the game, but it still means they aren't on gens and recovering. If you hook one, chase one, one needs to come for the save and only one can be on a gen. Now, if you hit the one you are chasing, then manage to intercept the one going for the save... either the one you were chasing now has to save while damaged; while you also showcased the willingness to drop chase to contest it meaning it is difficult or the one healthy on the gen now needs to also go save. Manage to slug one on top of that etc. etc. My entire argument is that there isn't one cut and dry tactic, you need to consistently adapt and change to optimize your strategy on the go.

As a killer you rely on snowballing pressure to a state where survivors are busy resetting, healing and recovering over doing gens. The statement I never had a chance and a defeatist attitude is not going to allow you to recover from the downsides of the start. Survivors are by far the strongest at the start of the match, gens will always seem to be flying and if you aren't resilient to that and throw in the towel... you will always lose.

If they play perfectly without any flaws and always come in with the perfect body block at the correct time and spread out perfectly you will never stand a chance and therefore... why do you play killer? You can claim that me ending up with a 3k has zero skill involvement on my end, but that is blatantly false. Do I try and create situations where survivors are out of position, yes. Does it always work, no. If you played perfectly as a killer, you wouldn't be chased for long periods of time, in the end you are facing humans, they will make mistakes just like you will make mistakes. If I fall to far behind, I do rely on the survivors to overplay their hand... just like survivors need me to do the same when I have 3 of them slugged on the ground at 5 gens. At some points in the match if you fall so far behind, the only option you have is to create a window, a trap and hope the survivors go for it and that isn't reach when 3 gens pop.

Throw in the towel if you want, don't do your best, play smart and go cry in the corner of the map on how unfair it is to play killer... but frankly why do you boot up the game then? I for one still enjoy playing, even the killer role and I do pretty alright. I don't win all my games, yet in the far majority of them I do stand a chance and I can realize which parts I made the wrong call. You can only control what you do, so if you want to learn how to deal with bad RNG, a bad map and a 3 gen pop by your first hook... you need to focus on what you can do and who knows, you might see a mistake and regain ground.

    1. Its normal 3 gens not 2 unless your running deadlock. Snowball is made almost impossible with CoH negating any pressure you might get from leaving people injured to defend gens.

    2. At 2 gens left you need to remove someone asap or there is no way to split pressure between 4 gens and 4 survivors.

    3. Not chase at the beginning and try to hold a 3 gen but again CoH kind of makes that strat way less effective.

    4. This is solid advice have no counter points

Some times the "RNG" is bad repeatedly. I started playing oni first 3 matches were ok really like the killer. Then it was hawkings, hawkings, midwich, lerrys so I stopped playing him for about a month. Decided to play him again.... lerrys. After that match I was going to change killers because I was pretty annoyed and was like no ill play him one more time just because I got a bad map once should ruin it

    I got F LERRYS.

Actually, if you can ensure you interrupt 2 instead of one survivor you can make it 2 instead of 3 though even 3 is not the end of the world. No you don't need deadlock for it, as I don't even have the perk. You can still snowball, yet the hit and run tactic has been severely impacted by Circle of Healing. Once again all situational awareness and decision making on when to commit, switch, tunnel, proxy camp, snuf a totem, etc. I have recently been replacing corrupt intervention with discordance for a more consistent approach; most games the survivors will share a gen and therefore makes it far more efficient to disrupt them than any of the other survivors.

Removing someone as quick as possible is not always an option, if you always are dead set on tunneling then you will lose as some teams will prevent that or get the other 3 out by the time you do. There is most definitely a manner in pressuring enough with 4 gens and 4 survivors, it does require you to not necessarily play nice, know when to slug, when to drop chase to intercept another person trying to get the unhook and all that jazz.

Mindlessly going for a 3 gen at the start with no initial pressure is once again totally mute. However, it is important to identify which gens are lost cases and knowing if you go out of your way to defend those... you pretty much lost. Therefore, which gens do you contest at the start.

The idea that you are expecting to go into a match with one tactic in mind, while to stand a chance you have to adapt on the go to the opportunities at hand. You do not know what hand you are dealt or who you are facing, based on those aspects you need to be able to adapt your plan. Sometimes it can be extremely frustrating and you only are able to pull it back at the end, I had games where the gens flew I was on hook 3 when the last one was powered... yet that made the survivors over confident and altruistic with a 3k as a result, while I didn't even use NOED. Playing killer isn't easy and yes some killers are extremely map dependent and make it even more difficult. It is also one of the reasons I really dislike map offerings, pretty much above anything else that can be brought.

The question here was how to improve, in the end it comes down to; do your best, play smart and stay calm.

  • First of all realize the game is not over yet. As a killer you can snowball at any moment and pull it back. The first 2 gens are pretty much freebies in exchange for your first hook. Try avoiding the third one, if you get some good pallets at the start, break them and switch.

Second of all, base your choices on the situation at hand. Don't worry about the rules of survivors, if you have to proxy camp, swap targets, slug, tunnel, etc. to apply pressure... just do it.

Third, analyze the gen spread and consider focusing on 3 or 4 of them to tighten the map.

Forth, take a breather and try not getting tilted. The chances of messing up increase when you do.

Finally, yeah some games you will lose and that is ok. Do your best, that is all you can do. Map and spawn RNG can really be against or in favor of you, but you will only get better if you try.

I am by no means perfect, I get the frustration. Yet that is all we can do. Corrupt can help, I like it... yet isn't always the best option. Discordance or lethal are also nice for instance. Build are very dependent on killer and playstyles.

Check out the last qa, the developers said they are based on kills each assassin gets. For example the cheater was the worst killer and they helped him.

What are you even talking about? If you actually followed the developers you would know they are data driven, but more than just kills.

  • That is not how the developers work though, as we know they also look at the perks performances and other aspects. There is more to it than just kills and the developers know it.

  • It just means that killers would need to babysit the last hook. They would sit there wait for you to jump off, wack you down, wait a minute and hook you again. Just to play around all the perks you have while the game was already over and done.

It is a waste of time for everyone. There is no means to escape at that point, unless the killer moves away and they would have no reason to. They do it now because it is over and done, maybe they can kick a pallet and get 100 more BPs, shoot off their power for 25 etc. The game is over, time to move on to the next.

  • Cleanse/Boon all 5 totems before the end game or cleanse one at the end game before going for the save or leave and let them get 1 kill.

Like how do people think that a perk that only is active in the late game, meaning the rest of game they are 1 perk down and is preventable/removable should not be at least strong enough to down a single survivor.

You being chased, last gen pops, maybe it is time to play as if they have NOED. A team can easily deal with it, even if they get you down.

This is what makes it balanced.

  • It is a skilled based killer, that has certain plays that can be done yet deviate from the standard. That makes it healthy for the game - we here so many people complain about BORING and this killer brings something else to the table. Most survivors don't play perfectly against her yet or don't know what to do in certain situations. Those that go like you can only hold W are uncreative and while that is true for some tiles, in most you have some other opportunities. People have to realize that the skill of the killer is part of the interaction, you cannot just do the same and as long as you don't mess up... you are safe. The killers skill and choices are part of the interaction and that is why people enjoy playing killers that are strong, because they feel like their choices and skill matters. They aren't taking away form the survivors, they are having their gameplay also be part of the interaction instead or relying on your mistakes.

If you believe people have mastered playing with or against her, I would beg to differ. There is so much to take into consideration, the options that can be done, etc. To those that only hold W against her and not even try to take some risks, because imagine losing while learning to play against a killer... you are doing yourself a disservice, learn it while the killers are also still learning.

Most killers are countered by W, but most of the older killers don't inherently promote W in their kit. Certainly not to the degree that Artist does. That's the difference. When the only real counter to a killer is W, that's bad design, and people will catch on and make Artist miserable to play.

Yet most of those killers are also considered incredibly weak? They don't promote that game play, they just experience it after they get looped for an additional 30 seconds lost per tile? You act like they don't need to deal with W gaming.

The artist has more than just hold W, there are tricks, mind games and yet they are less safe. That makes her stronger! She might need to fake, you might need to bait out a shot, work with timings, LoS, verticality, etc. Yet people don't want to try it out, because of the risk involved. It isn't like those older killers, where they are safe and if needed they can fall back on w gaming after they drop thr pallet. Nah against the artist you go down if you mess up, no fail safe... that is why they w game.

You claim it wouldn't be a direct nerf, so... what do you suggest?

If a killer needs to fake actions in order to get an advantage instead of doing them, that means there is a back and forth.

The "back and forth" in this case being hold W until you're eventually forced to play a tile (some of which can be admittedly strong against Artist, particularly main buildings with verticality and multiple entry/exit points) or die. Do you find that fun as survivor or killer? W gameplay? Because that's what this design promotes, to the furthest extent seen so far in a long line of "hold W" killers. This isn't about tier lists or strength, this is about the kind of gameplay she promotes, and her ease of use to effectiveness ratio.

And rework =/= nerf necessarily. A rework would be required to make her more interesting, to play as and against. Any nerfs to her kit would probably obliterate her and make her unplayable against W gamers.

Other than mobility killers, what exactly counters the W playstyle?

Hold W is always going to counter any killer that isn't able to rush, blink, etc. Acting like making it easier to loop them is going to resolve that isn't factual, it just means that there is more strength for survivors as they can run 3 circles around the loop and still hold W to win. It is literally a direct nerf.

Not all killers will be mobility based, holding W is not something that is due to this killer. Reworking her isn't going to change that fact, most killers are countered by w gaming... this isn't just the Artist.

Frankly I find it fun to play as her, as she has options. She can put pressure in the loop, causing people to move away from it and 1 bird at a time try to snipe them before they reach the next. It is interactive, far more than most other killers. Good survivors are able to bait, mind game and play around the loop for longer, while bad just go down when they do. It feels far more that my skill as a killer matters rather than the run circles, pallet drop, w gaming and relying on survivors messing up instead.

W gaming of survivors happens to so many killers, at least this one places some pressure on the survivors when they do. People go like it promotes W gaming, but which killers other than the top mobility based ones aren't directly countered and dealing with that. When I play PH, w gaming, Demo, W gaming, Nemesis, W gaming, Bubba, W gaming, Pig, W gaming .... it is just how survivors play.

When I play survivor, I try to loop and yet also rely on W gaming after I get hit. Why? Because that is the game, not just against the artist.

You can say all what you want... the fact is that Pyramid Head tunneling ability is really unfun/ boring/ unfair as a solo q survivor. People complain about weaker tunneling when there is perks that deal with it. Here nothing does.

Fun, is subjective and literally has nothing to with being fair. It is fair, even of you find it unfun. Also, if you want to use those perks, just don't get tormented?

The ability provides the space and time for the skill of the survivors to come into play. The fact that you and your team are incapable of it doesn't change that fact. Tunneling is part of the game, whether that is fun or not is irrelevant.

You are trying to move the goal posts, the question was if it is fair? Yes it is. Whether or not you like it or find it fun is irrelevant.

You can run into their crows if they used 2 or more without them being able to follow up with a shotgun shot if you start to repel and even with 1 if they don't have the correct add-ons they cannot place all 3 before you get the birds off.

If you run into an idle crow late into her placing it this is not the case, as the expiration cooldown is way faster than the shot cooldown and you can follow up with the shotgun guaranteed. Running into it early isn't exactly a good idea either as she can just hit you in most situations.

Play around structures that require 2 crows to block off all your options, use the line of sight to play mind games etc. The fact that you state if the killer doesn't catch on to the fact and fake their power, wasting time doing it?

Yes, it's counterplay against bad Artist players. What's the point here?

My perspective is a killer perspective. Artist requires little skill to be effective against most teams (despite her overall 1v4 skill cap being high, her 1v1 is extremely simple and oppressive), while the survivors basically have to play their brains out on top of being fast on the gens to have a chance. And a part of that's still up to map RNG. If you get a bunch of interconnected tiles then you maybe get to do something against her, maybe. Otherwise you just die to being zoned out or shotgunned.

I have downed very good players that would probably loop me for ages on Nemesis or Pyramid Head (or at least enough to buy their team time where Artist could get some immediate pressure on the next survivor after a chase), because she's simply that easy to get value out of. I haven't felt this way on a killer since Spirit. I'm not perfect with her yet, and I lost a lot of games early on when I was first learning her, and I still lose to really coordinated SWFs that know how to keep up the pressure. But I'm certain that better players than me can show just how disgusting she is to vs even against really good teams.

"Hypocrisy is so apparent" yet you don't even know I barely ever play survivor. Looking to turn this into an us vs them thing shows where your interests lie more than they show where mine do. I'm interested in the game being fun for both roles, and I'm not seeing it with this killer.

The us versus them is not the point, the fact is that the OP states that they believe the killer is weak, haven'tlost a single game against them. Yet you and them state they want to nerf them regardless, where is the fun of the killer at all in this equation.

Killers cannot all be about mobility, you can down a survivor quicker than with other killers just showcases that they have more potential.

All I hear is that if the killer plays well, they should not be rewarded for it. They should only be able to down a survivor when they mess up. Counterplay, counterplay... only applies to survivors I guess, the killers decisions, actions and skill should not be at all a factor in the interaction.

You claim to want a fun game for both sides? I see no evidence of any of that. That is the hypocrisy of the situation. If a killer needs to fake actions in order to get an advantage instead of doing them, that means there is a back and forth. Else they would simply always do it, if they don't fake they are bad, if they do and get a down because of it, they are braindead. Good survivors can play a back and forth game with the killer, a good designed killer will sometimes win and sometimes lose based on how they and the survivors play.

Where exactly is the consideration of the gameplay of the killer? If less skilled get punished hard, where is the reward of better ones? Nah let's rework it so even they get punished for doing the perfect play, faking their ability, etc. Why should their skill be rewarded?

You say like it is so easy to not get tormented and then not tunneled... when i have a different experience.

Being skilled means you can deal with more difficult situations, if you just want it to easy then you just lost your argument of that the skill of survivors should allow for counterplay.

It is fair, as both survivors and killers can use their skill. Fun is a subjective matter, it has nothing to do with fairness.

  • @Faulds said:

You cannot always avoid the torment even if you're a good survivor.

Isn't that a showcase of a good killer though? You complain that the survivors must be able to counter the killer with skill, but shouldn't the killer be able to do the same?

The reason why you couldn't avoid it is most likely based on a mistake you made previously or the killer plating extremely well.

His ability to circumvent any bt/ ds is a problem in the right hands... since those perks were designed to give a chance to survivors to get back into the game.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2677202#Comment_2677202

A survivor always should have a chance to counter a killer with his skill... with bubba and ph, their camping and tunneling powers really doesn't give much counterplay. Those problems shouldn't be be put aside with "be efficient on gens".

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2677216#Comment_2677216

With your reasoning, there is nothing wrong with gen speed and nothing should be done about it then.

To circumvent those perks, the survivor will need to torment themselves and that can be extremely difficult based on the skill of the survivor. Showcasing their ability to do just as you requested.

Additionally the cage creates distance to allow time and the option for survivors to get a safe rescue and at that point the person saving and the rest of the team can provide backup. You should be able to reach a safe area and your skill once again will be the determining factor on whether you go down.

His ability also reduces his own synergy with many strong perks of killers.

Your question is whether it is fair, the answer is yes. Is it different than your standard M1 killer, most definitely. Acting like the skill of a survivor is inconsequential is false, it just makes you seem less skilled. Go try playing PH at a decent level and see how others counter you, maybe you can learn. You stand a chance, but it seems you just want a full proof counter which would leave the killer with no option, ability to showcase their skill.

  • @Faulds said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2676749#Comment_2676749

You're only talking on a team level, not on a singular player level. As i said, its better to enhance killers chasing abilities (and reward skilled killers) rather than making stupid camping and tunneling abilities where a good survivor can't do much about.

Survivors are part of a team, their strength should be measured as a team. If a survivor at an individual level is to measure up against a killer, how are they ever going to be able to handle a team.

The cage spawns as far as possible from PH, if the survivors play well together and yes teamwork is part of survivors skill. Then they should be able to prevent you from being tunneled, even by a PH or make sure it costs him the game.

where the hell are you people getting this "just bait the shot" stuff from? if you just block off the pallet (or window and pallet) with a crow and never shoot when you're right behind them they're just screwed. if they run into the crow you shotgun them after, and if they don't they eat an M1. the singular counterplay to this is W to another tile (if you have enough LoS blockers to play with and if the artist doesn't catch on and fake their power instead of wasting time placing crows) and occasionally a good dead hard.

just because there are a bunch of trash artist players right now doesn't mean she has meaningful counterplay in a chase. this is on the same level of "just run at the Nurse 5Head"

The same argument of there are a bunch of trash artist players can be reversed, just because there are a bunch of trash survivors that do not know how to play against this killer doesn't mean that they don't have counterplay. Since when did meaningful counterplay mean that the killer has no say in the matter or their actions don't have any effect? Does that not just flip the roles into: the killer has no counterplay and it is purely on the survivor to mess up? There is a risk, reward aspect to actually trying to counter playing and having an engaging interaction; the killer does an action, the survivor does a counter action to which once again the killer does a counter action etc.

You can run into their crows if they used 2 or more without them being able to follow up with a shotgun shot if you start to repel and even with 1 if they don't have the correct add-ons they cannot place all 3 before you get the birds off. Play around structures that require 2 crows to block off all your options, use the line of sight to play mind games etc. The fact that you state if the killer doesn't catch on to the fact and fake their power, wasting time doing it? That statement alone showcases that there is counterplay and that based on how you play the killer has to adjust and also make a mindgame on you... if they fake their power, then that option isn't blocked and you can utilize it.

Each time people goes like there is no counterplay, all it comes down to is that they expect a 100% successrate if they do Y against the killer and are able to counter and nullify any gameplay that the killer does with a single action. That is not what engaging and interactive gameplay, that is just being able to do plays without any counter by the killer and reverses the whole thing you complain about. Should the killer not be able to counterplay the survivors and have their ability, skill, decision making factor into the interaction as well.

The hypocrisy is so apparent, the survivors are not allowed to rely on mistakes of the killer. Yet the killer must only rely on mistakes made by the survivors as they have to have no counters to the plays that they do. You aren't playing against AI, killers just as survivors must have options. That is why when the crows when idle actually dealt damage, it was busted as there was no real counterplay, run into it and get hurt or don't run into it and get hurt.

No she is very weak but her counterplay is boring which is why nobody likes her.

Not all killers will be to your liking. Your opinion is also not universal, there are people that like her and I have seen people who bait and play around the birds in loops. It won't work on the low ones, you need a LoS blocker, but there is skillful play to be had if you are willing to take a risk.

The whole issue with how you and your SWF plays is that you play it safe, you use the gen rush, hold w tactics because they are safe and strong. Then complain that it is boring, but that is a base game problem and not killer specific. Not all killers will be mobility based and therefore will have stronger anti looping, abilities to help them get quick downs as that is required for them to get pressure on the board. There is nothing wrong with the fact that you play to win, but your style of playing is what is making it boring and not the killer.

  • Good on paper, to slow in practice and boons hurt the build a lot and those are popular.

That is how I view it.

Mind If I butt in? Dbd is mainly known for its looping and chases, right? So why not enjoy that aspect? Me, I don't care if I win or lose. Whether I play survivor or killer, If the chases are fun then that's my win. Just like that's their view of a win. Play how you want and please don't complain about them "smurfing". You're already reminding me of Sluzzy...

If I know the game is lost then I focus on the other fun parts of the game like looping and chases. Heck, even throw in a teabag/nod or two just to ramp up the fun in said chases.

You don't care if you win or lose, but does that mean you should not try and win? Having fun and winning are not the same thing, can you have fun and lose? Yes. Should losing be a requirement to have fun? No. Should not trying to win be required to have fun? No. One should be able to try to win while also having fun.

They are asking why not to just lose, not whether you should always win. A loss can be enjoyable, if you feel that you stood a chance to win to begin with. It is not about having a 100% win rate, as that argument is just as bad. Why shouldn't one be able to keep trying to win even when they improve at the game? The game is known for its chases and looping, yet should that mean you should lose by definition by engaging in those activities? Why do you think people complain about hold W meta, pre-dropping pallets, gen speeds, camping? The game promotes these strategies and if you want to try and win at some level you will need to apply them to some degree or just lose consistently.

The act of tanking ones MMR on purpose is the definition of smurfing. Whether you do it or not is really up to you, if you want to do so... go ahead. Yet to tell other people to smurf in the game if they want to have fun? Going on losing streaks night after night to tank your MMR should not be a requirement?

There is literally no penalty for loosing. Thats all in their head.

No it isn't, you lose and that is a tangible result. Who cares whether there is a penalty, a reward or not? We play the game to enjoy it, having a chance to win even when we lose and that means the game promotes a merciless stance.

If you play the game for the dopamine you get from a virtual reward given to you at the end, to progress in the blood web... then I guess you would never understand. Most people play the game to enjoy the match, being crushed isn't fun. Not standing a chance of victory isn't fun. The people that complain, don't want to play what you call sweaty but it doesn't mean they want to as you state just lose all the time either.

They are fed up with having to use the most effective strats, perks and methods to stand a chance.

    people play to win

    Pick one.

You don't HAVE to use meta perks and strats and killers. And if you loose so what? Play until you have a fair challenge for using more fun perks. Loose with a low teir killer until that killer is facing a fair challange. If you want to play a ighly opressive killer like Nurse, Spirit or Blight then yeah it should give you people who can deal with that. If you want to play a 'weaker' killer just do it. It you want to run off-meta builds just do it. Litterally worst thing that can happen is you're put against lower skilled players where in you have a fair chance with the weaker setup.

You can't have 'Try your hardest to win every game' and get mad at what that en-tells. If you want to sweat, sweat. This is more for the people who I see in droves complain they just want to play causally. My advice: If you want to play casually just play casually.

You realize your advice is to play to lose, to just keep losing till you are a smurf and can play what ever. The majority of people do not play the sweatiest they can, yet they still play to win. They might sometimes let me shock you here, change their strategies. One day they might be more sweaty than the other.

Telling them to never sweat or never again be able to play more casually without first going on a losing streak... If you believe the only people that complain are those that slug, camp, tunnel with the best of the best killers perks and that is the only way they play.... you are out of touch with reality.

People feel that the game promotes and pushes them to play mercilessly at any point when they want to keep trying to win. There are no real alternatives, play to well and to do what you say, means at some point you need to tank your rating again. Meaning playing to lose!

Going down takes way to much time for a casual player, it literally will take multiple sessions of pure losses to achieve what you suggest... that isn't fun.

I play not the friendliest nor the most sweaty, I don't use purely the best builds and a whole variety of killers. Yet if I want to play with these lesser optimal builds, I have to play meaner than when I do... you say just lose and yet I lose plenty already. I play a couple of games max and I win some I lose some, some days more than others and that is fine. Yet I do feel inclined to try and win to do my best, which means I will use an exhaustion perk or slug you, etc. It is just the nature of the game, telling people to not do these things... literally means to smurf and play to lose at any decent level.

You confuse doing your best and using the best and always doing the most optimal thing. People want to have the feeling that they stood a chance, even if they lost.

P.S. the people who you are trying to understand are the variety players, they aren't pure casual or pure sweat and they are the bulk of people.

I'm sorry I've confused you. Reading my post more carfully I never said 'loose on purpose' I just said 'don't sweat'

You did not see this string of text on the second line of the post: "Just play with a casual level of effort"

If you play full steam, max effort thats yourr coice but its a bit silly to do say and then say you're tired of doing so. Its like your digging with your hands saying 'Gosh I hate that my hands get dirty every time I dig' just... don't use your hands, use a shovel.

If you're tired of sweating just don't. If you want to play casually just play casually. If you want to push for the 4k every game as if anything at all depends on it, thats fine to! But if you don't want to just don't. I fail to understand how this isn't just in player's heads.

A casual level of effort, meaning not your best? I think you confuse the concerns of most people. To use your metaphor: You state don't use a shovel, but advise people to use their hands... not the other way around.

They are fed up with having to use the most effective strats, perks and methods to stand a chance. They want to be able to not camp for a second stage, not use DS, UB, DH meta each game... those are your shovels, the best tools in the shed. Yet if you do you either have to lose or outclass your opponent by a long shot.

A casual level effort in this game means, play to lose once you reach a certain level, there is a level of sweat required. You state just play and lose enough till you are a smurf, which frankly is not a good thing either. You don't want to face people of equal skill, you want to be able to dig with your hands while everyone around you is trying to grasp a shovel. Just because you don't like facing those that can wield it, you aren't trying to win... you are trying to smurf.

If you cannot grasp that people play to win in games or move on? I don't know what to say, most people want to learn to be better and have an achievable challenge to face.

  • What is the reason you play if you are not going to try? When I play a game, I want to try and win, do my best and stand a chance. If I lose, I lose... but the moment I stop caring, is the moment I move on to the next game.

What use is it to not try, to just throw in the towel... where is the fun in that.

  • Hag is fun to play if the survivors are not super well versed against her, yet if they are it just isn't all that much fun.

  • Why reduce the time you have to find the fourth, if your goal is to get both survivors The slug can recover, the other survivor can pick them up, etc.

It is equal to argue that the other survivor should try and pick you up, not hide and wait out the timer, hook or slug. Try your luck, get the generator done and get both out. Why hide?

The goal of the killer is to kill all 4 survivors, they don't need to lower their chances to get it for the sake of the survivors and tru their luck. It is not the hard to comprehend, personally I don't like the hide and seek at that stage a 3k is fine, so unless I see/know where the last one is I hook.

  • Of all the meta perks, having multiple DS is really the least annoying one.

I haven't talked down to you. If you feel that way then that's unfortunate, but, it certainly hasn't been my intention.

I'm focused on IP addresses because the facts and evidence presented thus far indicate that this is the only thing which has been leaked. Facts and evidence are important, anything else is pure speculation on your part without any factual basis at all.

Yes I've read their privacy policy. I'm one of the few people who reads them. BHVR cannot store information you aren't giving to them. The only personally identifiable information which could possibly be extrapolated from BHVR's servers, linked to your DBD account and therefore be part of this leak would be log in details for cross-progression accounts created on BHVR.com. This would be accounts such as Facebook or Google and this would consist of names, profile pictures and email addresses - if this were the case, it would be a much bigger issue than it currently is and would have far more serious ramifications for BHVR. If a user has never registered on BHVR.com using those social networks then BHVR does not have any real personally identifiable information for that user. They will only have things like your IP address, OS, screen resolution etc. No evidence points to the former being the case and I don't see why BHVR would transmit this data in the first place in order for it to be intercepted during a game. it's pretty safe therefore to conclude that this has not happened.

Your "internal identifier" in regards to BHVR, is your "Cloud ID", nothing more. Section 3 consists of information you optionally submit via various avenues such as newsletter subscriptions, surveys, submissions to this forum etc. and/or device information and wouldn't be linked to your DBD account, so these things couldn't be leaked in the same breach.

The focus on IP is fine and understandable, the facts matter. The only issue I have is how easy you downplay the potential information that could be in there and just scuffing it up to external factors.

When I read aspects like using the device setting location rather than just ones IP. I do wish that BHVR would be more transparent on what is actually being intercepted and what is included. Those type of fields could potentially be extremely accurate based on how it was setup. Are those type of collected data used for matchmaking? If it is just an internal ID and IP address with its general location, there isn't much to worry about. Yet companies have made odd decisions based on trying to make a better service.

To be clear, I don't believe enough information is going to included for all out ID theft or anything. To extrapolate a location or a starting point for an external search, maybe.

  • @Cramps

You complain about peoples egos yet really like talking down on others. I agreed on parts of it yet you are so focused on this being solely limited to IPs based on what!

The fact is that not playing is the advice to those truly concerned about swatting. VPN is the best solution to avoid DDOS attacks. Each individual should make that choice themselves.

Your entire argument against it being even remotely related to the security concern is a what if. It is purely based on external factors? Or is it just extracted directly from BHVR? You are making an assumption that the leak is confined to just our IP, while trying to downplay any other option for the swat than an individual's social media handling.

Have you even read their policy on what they actually store, have a link:

Learn more about our commitment to protecting your personal information. Read our privacy policy.

Nobody here knows the extent of the information that can be extracted, it is quite safe to assume at least one of our identifiers in there, which ones? Their internal one only, which would be totally fine or is there more?

Unless BHVR informs us of the situation, you can assume any information on their end could be a part of it. The fact that the information was not encrypted, means there is a liability.

I have not undermined anyone's experience at all. The factors which led to someone finding that streamers address are irrelevant to the experience they had as a result. I do know that an IP leak has no correlation to that person being "swatted". I do not know why you're having so much trouble understanding this and this is the last time I'm going to tell you; It is not possible to have someone "swatted" because you know their IP address. That is the topic of discussion, that is the data which was leaked and led to that streamer being DDoS'd, that is what everyone is assuming led to the streamer being "swatted" and that is why people are advising others to use a VPN - incidentally, if personal information other than your IP address was involved in the leak then using a VPN would not hide that information, using a VPN would make no difference.

I've handled the security of networks and companies with far larger infrastructures than BHVR has. I'm not one to gloat about my accomplishments, but, I would consider myself to be incredibly competent in this field and I've had a pretty successful 20+ years without a single unhappy employer, so much so that it's allowed me to pretty much retire at a relatively young age.

I haven't attempted to guarantee anyone's safety. I haven't claimed to "care about a majority of people". If my comments put one person at ease, then they're worth posting. If everybody reading my comments completely ignores them, then that's their choice and I'm fine with that too. I'm not emotionally invested in this incident in any way. I haven't claimed that everyone is safe either. Nobody is ever 100% safe online. Please stop trying to tell me I've said things which I haven't said.

You are still not actually adding anything valid to this discussion other than an empty argument. You do nothing but throw around baseless ifs and buts. People are overly worried about this incident as it is and all you are doing here is fuelling that paranoia, please just stop. No matter what rational reply I give to all of your queries and comments, your next comment completely ignores the vast majority of my responses as you go off on another rant about something else.

This discussion has gone around in circles long enough and I genuinely think that you just like arguing with people for a petty game of one-upmanship. Your ego has no place in this discussion.

My ego has nothing to do with it, I am not the one bringing up my experiences. You claim I am arguing against something I have flat out agreed with multiple times. An IP alone isn't enough to swat someone. What exactly else should I state about it?

Your solution is also not always accurate and based on ISP protocols, which I also pointed out. While a VPN does solve it always.

I questioned your downplaying that the factors in play for a swat were only external. While it is totally reasonable to question what other information is at risk.

This is about the whole thing not just your single narrative.

That was what I was implying. People have most likely fixated on the IP because DDoS and doxx'ing sound similar and they were used in the same tweet.

It would be very concerning if BHVR's security was breached in such a way that allowed hackers to access client-side information. I also find it very unlikely that BHVR screwed up that badly. It seems more likely that someone's lax internet safety caused it than a multi-million dollar corporation screwing up, but we don't know, so I won't point fingers.

People are fixated on the aspect that easily translates into grievances. Extracting other data and actually using it is far more labor intensive in comparison. Swatting random people isn't a thing that happens in practice, as the ability to pick a random address isn't difficult. DDOS are way more prominent.

Multi million dollar companies screw up on a regular basis. Acting like it is some unlikely scenario is naive, as showcased by the issue here. Our IPs are up for grabs even though we have dedicated servers, already indicates that more information is accessible by others in the lobby than would be required. Assuming it is limited to a single parameter is unfounded and unrealistic as information is rarely that isolated.

Should one be really that concerned about being swatted, is a totally different question. Generally speaking no you don't in my view, but if you are considering that an actual threat... there are grounds for caution. If you are in the public eye should you be more vigilant most definitely.

From a IT security perspective this issue isn't a huge breach, but assuming that it is solely your IP is wishful thinking at best.

I've done my own external research, there is no way to get an address from an IP.

Yet is that the only aspect that is compromised in this secure breach? Once again not disputing that solely an IP cannot be used to achieve this.

Everyone is so convinced it is just the IP address? What is this assumption based on?

  • @Cramps said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2652758#Comment_2652758

The only thing I'm guilty of is addressing misinformation you're posting and statements you're incorrectly attributing to me. I have no interest in arguing with you.

There is no guarantee that an IP lookup would reveal what city you're in at all - it's that vague and useless as an identifier. Different Geolocation services pull their information from different databases too, so you may well look up an IP using one service and get one location, then type the same IP address into another geolocation service and get a completely different location. Nobody can be found using their IP address, I have stated this enough times, you cannot argue with it as it is not my opinion, it is a fact.

You said: "yes you provided information to BHVR. Once again you don't know what is in these packages, acting like you do and telling people it is impossible is just an assumption." - What are you even talking about here? Packages? I asked YOU what information you're submitting to BHVR's servers that is personal. I didn't state that I haven't submitted anything to BHVR at all. I have linked my Steam account to their servers, for example, so that wouldn't be true, therefore I wouldn't make that claim in the first place.

I didn't ask you to prove a correlation. I asked if you have any evidence at all that an IP leak led to someone being swatted - the answer is, you don't. Nobody does, because it's not possible. Nobody needed that particular streamers IP address to find out their location. They publish it on all of their social pages. It's already public. That said, if I kick you and then 24 hours later you fall into a river, does that mean that you fell into that river because I kicked you? Do you think that's proof of correlation? There is no proof that one had anything to do with the other, just because one thing happened and then another. Now YOU are making assumptions.

I could give you my IP address, my city, even my name and you wouldn't be able to find out a thing about me, anywhere. Do you know why? Because I don't publish personal information online and never have. I don't exist online in any identifiable manner. Like I said previously, if people were more careful about what information they share publicly then things like "swatting" wouldn't happen in the manner it has done here. All I needed to find out everything about the person who was recently swatted was an image they posted and two words of text they posted, both to their own social media account. This is careless on the part of that streamer if they want privacy.

Swatting based on an IP address alone is not a concern for anyone unless they're misinformed.

I haven't said that swatting only on IP is a concern. Yet you are undermining the experience of someone else by attributing it to external factors, while this is unknown and you don't know it to not be correlated just in the same way I don't know if it is. Act as if you know exactly what is part of this security breach and have the insider information needed, but you don't.

I have not spread misinformation, you are blatantly assuming that there is minor risk. Just because you understand a single parameter as an IP isn't a huge risk, who states that this is the only aspect compromised.

You can act like a security expert all you want, but unless you know what information is included in the breach you cannot guarantee anyone's safety. Just because you don't have the information out there, you claim to care about a majority of people... guess what they do have information out there! I am fairly safe as well, but that doesn't mean that I can claim everyone else is as well.

  • @Cramps said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2652692#Comment_2652692

I'm not employed by BHVR. It's not my job to cover all bases in regards to helping others avoid DDoS attacks. My advice will help the majority, which is enough of a reason to share it. Once again, your post exists solely to argue online while providing no actual benefit to anyone reading it. If you have anything additional to add to my posts, why don't you do that instead of being pedantic and arguing that I'm not going into enough detail according to your standards? The majority of what you're adding is common sense anyway. If you're resetting your router because you're being DDoS'd with the aim being to change your IP address, who wouldn't confirm it afterwards? And who wouldn't notice the DDoS attack/s continue and put two and two together to figure out that they must still have the same IP address? Pedantic, as I said.

What assumption exactly are you claiming that I'm making here? Resetting your router will assign most users with a dynamic IP address a new one, this isn't an assumption, it's a fact. "Majority" does not mean "100%". I never said that "it is a 100% result". I've specifically stated numerous times that it will give the intended result for the MAJORITY, so I don't feel the need to clarify anything. If someone is confused between the definitions of "majority" versus "100%" then that's on them.

Do you have a shred of evidence that an IP address leak was in any way responsible for someone being swatted? (I know you don't, because it's not possible) Anything at all?

What "personal information" are you submitting to BHVR's servers that could link to your address and why are you doing it? More importantly, how are you submitting any personal information which could lead to tracking your location to BHVR's servers at all?

You live in a country that has better law enforcement than where? (this was an odd statement to make) Why do you think "better law enforcement" means anything in this regard?

Your advice is scaremongering nonsense. Play the game if you want to, you have nothing to worry about by doing so other than DDoS attacks, which are nothing more than a nuisance and can be easily rectified/avoided.

You have not added anything valid or meaningful to this discussion so it is probably best that you're done with it.

Enjoy the rest of your day.

And what use was this post, you complain about argumentative without a point... yet you are just as guilty of it.

The fact is that even if a slimmer of information can be linked between the city you live in and an indication of who you are, the majority of people can be found that way. We are far less 'anonymous' with very little and yes you provided information to BHVR. Once again you don't know what is in these packages, acting like you do and telling people it is impossible is just an assumption.

Everyone should make a choice for themselves, yet you stated to me that you didn't make assumptions and yes you do. You downplay the series of events that happened to someone in the public eye, because they are easier to track down and therefore you state are unrelated. You claim I have to prove a correlation? They were DDosed and eventually Swatted in that order, people should assess that situation on their own merits and not through your assumptions. If people are worried of pure DDOS attacks, then we agree it is annoying and yet able to be solved with max a couple of hours. That is the reality.

I am not fearmongering, I am just not filling in the narrative for others based on assumptions without any backing. If swatting is a concern for someone they should be extra careful, based on the country you live in there is a big difference in how much that would be a threat. It is better to be safe than sorry these are not joking matters.

You are clearly only here to be pedantic and argue with strangers. Leave that childish nonsense on Reddit, please.

At no point have I stated that resetting your router will immediately reset every single person's IP address on this planet - that is obviously not the case and there are many many other factors. But, I will say it one more time, since you are not paying attention, this is not a technical support website, this is a forum for a video game - it is not really the place to go into heavy detail in regards to how ISP's operate and how the internet as a whole works. You are being utterly silly for no apparent reason. Resetting your router IS sufficient for the vast majority of people - if it doesn't work for someone because they're reassigned an IP, or they have a static IP, then guess what? They'll figure that out pretty much immediately as the DDoS attacks continue. So again, no problem. Contact your ISP directly and they can assign you a new IP - not an issue.

As I've already stated, the evidence is in the fact that you cannot get any personal information, from a person, based on their IP address - you cannot gain any information on a person other than who their ISP is and roughly where their ISP is located.

Whoever swatted that person recently 100% did not do it using an IP address, this is a undisputable fact. It is not "the only case I know of", it is the only verified case in existence regarding this game. Please, just stop.

I'm not obliged to post there, I don't have to offer anyone solutions to DDoS attacks and I do not have to help people understand how IP addresses work, I chose to voluntarily - I am not obliged to cover all bases as though I'm being employed to address this issue. If my post helps one single person, then it was worth it. If you wish to pay me for my time and for a more thorough explanation, then you're free to do so and I will be far more thorough. Otherwise, I will post as an average user, just like you.

That said, the second anyone starts getting too technical on forums like these, the average user tends to switch off. I make a conscious effort not to use too much "technical jargon" and overcomplicate matters for this very reason.

It is not a known fact that there is a security breach which provides personal information - you are being disingenuous here. Your IP address is NOT personal information. It is public. What personal information do you have tied to your DBD account which could possibly be leaked during gameplay?

Again, I am not making any assumptions in any of my posts.

Once again, your majority statements when considering this is a game that is played world wide is simply not factually correct. Just dumbing down the inner workings of ISPs globally to suit your narrative and then have the audacity to state that no assumptions are made. You are making assumptions based on a sense of majority. You are giving information freely, but you aren't being 100 accurate and yes I can call you out on that.

If you want to tell people that just reset the router, at least include that it is not a 100% result and that it is important to check afterwards. You can give out free information all you want, but less knowledgeable people might just take your word for it. You aren't tech support, but if you want to act like it do it right.

@Ecstasy You can act all you have the right to doubt it, sure you do. Yet to be able to make a blatant claim as:

    @Cramps said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2652578#Comment_2652578

Talk about ignorance. One person has been "swatted" in Las Vegas, I've said this numerous times, but, mods here keep editing my posts and removing it, I suspect that the same will happen to this one.

The one person who was swatted, has all of their personal information posted on social networks. I found it in ten minutes, despite them being a drag queen and using a pseudonym online. It DID NOT happen because that particular streamer was DDoS'd and had their IP leaked. You are wrong, I'm afraid.

There is an issue in the encryption of ones data and just downplaying it based on one known parameter that is being used. Unless you have solid evidence or knowledge of what exactly is the security risk; you have no idea whether or not personal data in included and guess what if someone was swatted during this time period after being targeted... if they are the same people they might have used information to extrapolate what they needed.

I am not sidelining the facts, the only fact that we know is that there is a security risk which placed people at risk with unknown information being extractable. It is not a toddler telling me about bat cave, it is more like someone is waving a gun around and one person was shot around that time. Yet now you are telling me the gun doesn't have bullets? Is it better to be cautious until more information is provided or just assume it is alright?

Thank god the country I live in has better law enforcement, that I don't even require to consider such a threat seriously.

I am done with this conversation, if people want to act as if they are know it alls and experts on what is and isn't in the security leak to advice people what to worry about or not... be my guest. The fact is that our IPs should have been encrypted to begin with, so who the hell knows what other information is sent in those exact packages. If you live in a country where swatting is an actual threat, I would advise people to maybe not play the game and if they do use a VPN - at least until a patch comes out.

I do know what I'm talking about. I haven't made a single assumption in my posts. For the majority of people, resetting your router is enough.

I don't think this is really the place to go into more technical detail regarding IP addresses, how ISP's worldwide function and whether or not IP addresses are reassigned as most of this would be lost on the average user, hence "resetting your router and being assigned a new IP should be enough." Note: I did mention being assigned a new IP, which nullifies your "dynamic IP's can be reassigned" statement. I didn't touch on static IP addresses either which wouldn't change by resetting your router, since most people don't have a static IP. The point was not to give people a full educational breakdown of how ISP's and IP addresses operate. Again, this isn't the place for that.

IP addresses aren't private, they're public, they're supposed to be public, so saying that they're ever "leaked" is a bit silly - unless you're referring to a leak while using a VPN.

You cannot "swat" a person using their IP address, that is not possible. So no, games have not been creating the possibility to "swat" people by leaking your IP address for decades. People do this themselves with careless social media posts, as is the case with "Elix", who was "swatted" recently while streaming DBD - incidentally, "Elix" is the only person on this planet who plays DBD and has been verified to have been "swatted".

Instead of ignorantly telling me what I do or do not know, why don't you tell me why you think I'm wrong?

Once again you are assuming that it will be the case while that is based on your ISP and no not each one will provide you with a new one with a reset on your end. They are dynamic IPs because that is what most people have, just because they can be reassigned by a reset doesn't mean they are. You claim no assumptions, yet solely work on a "majority" basis while ignoring a huge amount of people that might be stuck to lease periods, etc. I already indicated that many people can reset, but acting like it is a fool proof fix for all is inaccurate.

You have no valid evidence that the security breach is not holding such a risk of being swatted, you are assuming it is because it is the only case you know of and without evidence whether it played a part or not. Is it solely done based off a single IP address, no. Yet what other information is in the security breach, what information can be extrapolated from it and all that. It wouldn't be the first time it is possible based on a leak in a game and most likely not the last either. Once again all you have are your assumptions and pre-judgement that it has nothing to do with DbD. You don't have the full picture and making statements that people are not at risk based on no evidence, pure assumptions and speculations... while it is a known fact that there is a security risk which provides personal information.

The evidence is in the fact that it's not possible to get a person's physical address from their IP address. At worst you can be DDoS'd - no problem, reset router and you have a new IP. Problem solved.

You act as if you have any idea what you are talking about, but then make general assumptions on how every single ISP in the world functions. Even dynamic IPs can be reassigned for multiple hours, based on the ISP internal handling of the DHCP protocols. While it is true that for many hard resetting their modem or router can provide a solution as your ISP might assign you a new IP, acting like it is always the case is untruthful.

Games leaking information such as IPs has been creating the possibility to swat people in the US for decades now. Once again it seems like you have no actual understanding of what people can do.

  • I tend to give it to a survivor that showcased good teamplay, where they had to make themselves vulnerable for the sake of their friends. Not the half baked actions though...

Nobody has been "swatted" because of a DDoS attack. Nobody has been "swatted" because someone knew their IP address. Despite "Elix" claiming that their friends have also been swatted recently, I can't find any evidence of this anywhere. It appears tha "Elix" is the only person playing this game who has actually been "swatted".

It took me 10 minutes to find out everything about "Elix" and I didn't have their IP address. I know "Elix's" real name, their address, their employment history, their family members identities, education history, everything - this is how "Elix" was swatted. It had nothing to do with DDoS attacks and if "Elix" was using a VPN, the same thing would still have happened, it wouldn't have helped. A lot of people are scaremongering regarding this issue without actually knowing the majority of the facts.

If people were more careful about what they share online in the first place then things like this wouldn't happen.

Before you try and downplay other peoples experiences:

"We have been investigating cases of distributed denial of services (DDoS) over the last week. We take these reports extremely seriously. We're actively monitoring the situation internally and with our partners to gather as much information as possible and identify trends.

We are terribly sorry to those who have been affected by these attacks- we understand the impact this has on you. We are taking every appropriate measure to ensure the safety of our players.

We encourage our players to report to us any cases of DDoS, as well as any other form of inappropriate or abusive behaviour in the game. In the meantime, we encourage you to stay safe and follow best practices for online safety."

There is no evidence to back up your claims that these security leaks are not related to the events that happened and regardless of whether that is the case or not, there is an admitted security leak currently still within the game. With the information gathered by these leaks by individuals there is most definitely the possibility of these type of actions to be taken against individuals even if that information might be able to be found through other methods as well.

You guys have no moral at all, it is crazy this new generation, i'm wondering what your education is.

When a boss push you to the limit to the point you burn out it is your own fault ?

A killer that has 30%+ trials where opponents DC is an abuser and deserve a permaban exactly as when a boss has 30% of his/he employees in a burn out, he deserves a law punishment. The problem doesn't come from the burned out ppl, the cause is the boss.

It is exactly the same here. But well, without being mean, seeing the new generation living their life through dumb videos on TikTok, TV reality and Instagram, no wonder why the Transvaluation of values exist and we can blatantly see it here.

The bully is the victim and the real victim is the idiot that deserve to be punished.

Great way of seeing "life". Don't expect positivity in your life thinking like this, you will be frustrated all the time 😂

You dare speak of moral, while attacking other peoples characters over playing of a game.

This new generation? I have been playing video games longer then most and since the very first generation home computers.

What does my university degree have anything to do with my arguments?

The killer is not your boss, the game is not a job... if you are burned out, maybe it is time to move on, take a break or change mentality.

The fact of the matter is simple, you don't take responsibility for your actions. The opponents in a game are not responsible for the enjoyment or opportunities of the opposing team.

Old school gamers don't need to blame others for their choices and their gaming experience. You can blame the new generation all you want, but to me you sound like a 13 year old ... unable to reflect, blaming others for their own actions and failing to understand the game.

My life is perfectly happy, I have the ability to take responsibility for my actions and aren't dependent upon others.

    Who exactly is frustrated here?

  • It is your own choice to DC, itnis not induced by anyone else than your own ego and entitlement. Play out the game and move on.

The killer isn't breaking any rules, they are playing the game and shouldn't be punished for it.

  • Thenl choice of PC or Console should be based on significantly more than just one game.

How much do you want to pay?

What games do you want access to?

What else do you want to do with it?

What type of experience do you want?

    Etc.

Neither is a wrong choice, it is all personal preferences in the end. The tribe members will act like they are two totally different things, but in the end they are just machines you play on.

  • Playing with a SWF has nothing to do with the skill level of solo players.

It is literally as simple as:

    - Playing with friends, do I really need to explain why people do that?

    - Playing with a premade team is easier in a team game.

  • That is not the experience I have at all with what would be classified as good SWF.

You state a good chase, they state 5 gens go brrrrr. Nearly getting a down, body blocks come in and resets. Those matches last max 5 mins.

Then you have the coordinated groups that try to make it as difficult as humanly possible for the killer and play around with them. Where you just wait for them to mess up and slug away.

Neither necessarily the best type of experiences. Usually the better matches are those where they are more at a level where they try to be the first, but just aren't there yet.

  • I rather play to my abilities and face equally skilled people, but I do agree with your assessment. Either you use the full toolset or you smurf.

  • A killer should use any opportunity to snowball when they have the chance. Does it really matter how many gens were done, other than to indicate how poorly the survivors played?

Why should the killer give you the opportunity to reset and recollect yourselves? You don't see survivors slow down, give multiple hook stages when a killer has 1 to 3 hooks and a single gen left?

There is no guarantee that you will be presented with an opportunity again further down the match. People always claim that killers must consider the side of survivors, but the opposite is never achieved. Feel free and play the friendly killer style, see for yourself.

Well, if you like it so much, then quit complaining.

The topic seemingly goes straight over your own comprehension of what the challenge is about.

It has nothing to do with complaining. The whole point is that regardless of how you play, the survivors won't consider the enjoyment of the killer and that these tools are simply part of the gameplay. It is about the hypocrisy of those that try to bash killers that use these tactics for not considering the enjoyment of their opponents.
