Their posts are all about killers, from a killer perspective. For someone who plays so much survivor, they never talk about survivor issues or the survivor perspective. It’s really strange.
"I play survivor to relax and don't care for escapes" - some killer main
-
I think the only people who probably enjoy her are people who are into M1 enthusiasts but don't care about the licensed and she's the strongest of them all anyway. That's about it.
-
Just make it so it's possible to communicate it to your team lol. Sometimes it's easy to guess a combo based on a single perk one party is using, since they go so well together. If both sides get to see each others' perks etc. then we'd need the ability to bad as killers/perks as we;; etc.
The problem is simply the game being a party game and having so much RNG, but I'm sure despite people crying about losing etc. they'd probably hate it if the leaned into those parts and you couldn't bring duplicate perks with other survivors etc. or it had a limit and they'd ask for casual DBD again.
-
I want a boon area where it makes killer powers charge at a slower rate or makes them unable to use them inside it. Now that would be hated.

“Play weaker killers so I can win more.”
Wow, I didn't know Artist, Plague, Pinhead, Pyramid Head and more are weaker than Trapper, Pig, Myers, GF. You should make your own tier list and post it in the forum.

@CookieBaws said:
Then go and play them on above average mmr and tell us results.
Your matches must only be 4-man SWFs on comms.
-
I mean...there is this perk called Nowhere to hide that counters most stealthy survivors hiding around.
-
Pyramid Head is difficult to maneuver, he's so clunky in his power. His add-ons are boring. he needs and Iri add-on that doesn't give warning to his power or gives you the warning in half the time it does now. I think in that case he would have some mind game and snipe potential and it would actually be a worthwhile add-on.

I only play Nurse for laughs because despite playing this game all the time I seem to be the one person that absolutely cannot get the hang of blinking, so I basically use her as my rare "I feel like being nice" killer.
People who play her for challenges and stuff are usually ok. People who play Nurse because she's Nurse and they wanna win, usually have no care if someone DC's etc. I've never being spared before by a Nurse main.

Ok but now Pain Res is unreactable due to the way the screams work since the last patch or two, isn't it?

I would say no, but if screaming becomes a thing then it might be somewhat relevant. If the removed that stupid drawback it might actually not be troll.

I'm very surprised to see NOED mentioned. Not too many people seem to want it to be base kit.. This would make it to where the majority of Survivors would most certainly do Totems, which in turn, would help a lot with Gen rushing. If Survivors knew NOED was coming at the end of every trial, you'd start to see those Totems clear up pretty damn quick as well as Generators slowing down even if its only slightly. I also think it only makes sense for the Killer to become stronger toward the end of the trial.
Then we'd have complaints over small game and how NOED never comes into play and that it's not enough to stop "gen rushing".

don't really think you require communication. would help but not required.
you buy the perks so you DON'T need to buy the character. it cuts the cost to 6k shards. or even less if all you want is 1 or 2 perks.
it needs to be an issue to be solved. don't think the shrine is an issue. don't think not getting a discount because you got the perk is an issue.
the slow grind for shards is something I would call an issue.
pokemon? yugioh master duel? there is no in-game chat on console.
we have. Heard we are but I don't have a number.
Do you team up with people in Pokemon and Yu-gI-oh?

Map-wide bond would be nice for solos, I think.
That would be extremely convenient but I'd be ok with current Bond's range as well.
-
I think teleporting killers like Sadako and Dredge are mid in terms of difficulty cause you need to know the map to utilize their power well and cut off survivors or harass them when working on gens.
-
The way I see it most people seem to play DBD for the licenses. An original killer hasn't been that successful in quite some time, at least compared to licensed killers. Just give it sometime, unlike other killers Singularity is one of those who you have to suck at first to get good at and it might not be as appealing for a large percentage of killers, especially if he's awful to play on console.
People were piling on Knight when he came out but I think he's found a dedicated fanbase now. Ofc people who would rather play Wesker or Myers, Pig, Ghostface etc. will probably not be going for a lot of the cast. I don't see Artist often either, maybe even more rarely than Knight and no one seems to be talking about what a failure she is etc.
-
Until we get a ping system probably Kindred or Bond for survivor.
Maybe Corrupt for killer?

You know, throwing in some buzzwords like "SWF" wont really improve your reasoning.
Auras would not do anything for SWFs. They know when the Killer is camping and they also know where everyone is. But it would certainly help Solos and people who are not 4 man-SWFs.
But he needs his solos to be headless chickens, why can't you get that? How else will be win a game of Killer otherwise? If solos get buffed say goodbye to killer players /s.

it's more of a "this should have been in the game at launch" kind of thing. it was much easier to navigate stuff when we had half the amount of perks so a search bar would be nice but it was fine without it.
for instance, I've been wanting better menu navigation for console since I started playing. because it would be so much nicer and faster to just press the arrow keys instead of moving that circle around...
so I could say "we been asking it for 5-6 years" depending on when it launched on console... but it's actually "this should have been here on launch"
The thing is for how old DBD is, some things should have been addressed ages ago. It's unheard of in 2023 for a multiplayer game to not have any in game communication features while going through a bunch of metas that require communication and co-ordination to deal with. It's stupid that you buy a survivor's perk on the Shrine and you still have to buy the survivor for a full price instead of their price reducing by 2k when Iri shards are incredibly hard to come by. That's a QoL right there that makes everyone's experience between because someone buying with shards means they won't be buying that survivor/killer with real money. I can understand for this feature not be added to licensed character, but to OG characters this is unnecessary grinding, especially for survivors who are glorified cosmetics.
And I would assume these are things that are a lot easier to solve than in game bugs and game balance.
Name me a big game in 2023 that lacks in game communication features. You can't even communicate with consoles if you're on PC in pregame chat. (correct me if I'm wrong though).
I don't have much insight when it comes to consoles, but people have been asking for keyboard and mouse support for a long time as well. I play with a controller on PC and I can tell me latency is higher when I'm working on gens. So it's probably higher in general with a controller. I have to time my skillchecks differently if I'm on controller vs keyboard. Arguably this is a rather complex issue, no doubt. But console players are a big chunk of the playerbase.

@sirlemonhead said:
Why do people always say it 'took them 7 years' to add a search bar? Was this something people have been asking for since day one?
Probably they've been asking for a while. Definitely for over a year now (I think I remember this complaint since I started playing the game which is close to a year now). It's hard to navigate so many perks, this should have been a non-issue from the start. They take a very long time to implement QoLs in general. Even the HUD should have been a feature 3 years ago at least and to this day you still cannot communicate in game and BHVR is the biggest game around of its kind.

Is it just me, or do we only see this kind of thread, when players go from survivor to killer, but never when killers go to survivor?
Like seriously. With the amount of threads complaining about OP killers, one would assume that switching from survivor to killer would be easy peasy lemon squeasy. But in reality its not. Playing killer can be overwhelming, because the killer has to juggle everything alone. If i fail as survivor, there is a chance that the rest of the team does its job to compensate. But if i fail as killer, its just over.
Thats also something where the sbmmr is failing hard.
Anyway, i´d say you should stick to Trapper for the meantime. Since you had some success with him. While Wesker is strong, he also has a higher skill floor than Trapper.
Because when killers play survivor they admit they just wanna chill and don't care about winning/escaping. The opposite doesn't happen, no survivor will choose to play killer hoping to chill. They probably change to killer cause the survivor gameplay has gotten stale.

Is there way to know a window is open without seeing it? I'd add it to my arsenal if you share.
It also guides me to pallets and vaults without thinking about the map at all.
If I'm the first person chased, the killer usually has to drop chase or loses a crazy amount of time and, often, the game.
If I'm not the first person chased, I get enough knowledge about what is used/remains in order to chain enough stuff together to burn a decent chunk of time.
People really like to downplay WoO when it provides PERFECT information. There's no guesswork, no wondering if there will be a pallet/open window - The information is 100% accurate and in your face at all times.
The issue of your first survivor making a chase last long isn't WoO's fault. If you start chasing a competent survivor you'll have the same issue regardless exactly because it's the start of the game.
That's the purpose of a perk you know, to help you with something that sometimes you might not know off. it's why we also have perks like No where to Hide? Killer brings it so they don't have to waste time trying to find a survivor and committing their precious time. WoO should be useful for solo-ers. Why should they be even weaker and not be able to have any info from their teammates at all? If Bond were to become a top 10 used perk and survivors healed each other more efficiently with its helped, had better flashlight saves and kept the killer away from teammates working on gens, would we start to see complaints about it too? Cause killer would be unable to capitalize on stupid game design that forces you to play as a team but refuses to give you basekit tools to do that?
Same can be said about Lethal Pursuer though. Killer can guess the spawns but since it's RNG is related, by bringing that perk he has the perfect opportunity to start chases with more than one survivor if they're in the same area and disrupt gens being done in the same area, which arguably is a great advantage for killer (otherwise the 2 strongest killers wouldn't run such a perk)
-
I think all Legendaries are rare cause they are freaking expensive. For non licensed characters I'd say Haddie is not particularly common and I don't have a stereotype for her. Maybe Maria will also be rare? We'll see. I encountered one Maria yesterday but I think she DC'd at some point and replaced by a bot, lol.

Yeah I guess that was my fault for going into it expecting it to be similar to looping as surviour just on the opposite side lol. I do have very little experience, I’ve p1’d every killer but I normally just play them when they release get them to p1 and never really touch them again lol
Sometimes when you feel you know something it can be difficult to accept being a beginner at something that is related. And this would be true for also anyone returning after a 4-5 year break I assume, on any role. They'd have to be ok with "starting over". Because the game has changed a lot.
-
Playing survivor and playing killer are completely different. They both can help you get better at each role, but you have to have built some kind of experience first imo. Just treat playing killer as a brand new game separate from survivor now. Didn't you suck when you started playing survivor?
-
Reminder, there are killers other than Trapper, Pig, Ghostface, Freddy and Myers. Just letting you know in case you missed them. I don't think Artist needs any basekit buffs, maybe a change or two regarding her add-ons to get something more original, Plague probably doesn't need anything either, same with Pinhead. You could try those alternatively.

Hot take here. The spies example is fine, because a perk countering a perk is just nature.
But a single perk should probably not be a hard counter to a killer without some kind of counter to the perk. Not because its OP particularly or anything like that. But it creates this scenario where it becomes difficult to balance.
1) If the perk super hard counters the killer, then the killer by default needs to be super OP, so that the perk counter doesn't make them useless. But now the killer is OP if you don't bring the perk.
2) If the perk super hard counters the killer, but the killer is balanced, or underpowered, then the perk is far too powerful against them, so now when someone does bring the perk you just lose.
Again, not saying that calm spirit is in either category, or that it is super common and everyone uses it, or that it even hard counters doctor (it is debatable) but from a balance standpoint, it probably shouldn't be a thing, because balancing it is impossible. It leads to a mess of RNG where the survivors think "are they playing doctor? Should i bring calm spirit?" And the doctor needs to just hope they don't
This would make sense if survivors knew who the killer is. As it is atm they don't though although the opposite can happen, Killer knowing what perks to pick to counter certain items (as survivors don't have anything more unique going on for them) and if I'm not wrong Doctor has an add-on that simply reveals aura's right? As well as being able to see the illusions aura, which gives you info. So even if you brought Calm Spirit it wouldn't matter (correct me if I'm wrong, don't own Doctor).

It’s important to note that BHVR is trying to balance around a specific kill rate. If killers had Thanatophobia basekit the kill rate would increase, likely beyond the star BHVR wants.
I don't disagree with you, I'm just interpreting what I read. It's why after healing nerfs and COH nerfs, it's endurance meta now etc. etc. The always give something to the other side, that then gets complained on about. And hey it makes sense, but I think when people heard about healing nerfs they wanted that without anything else getting buffed for survivors or nerfed for killers. BHVR simply re-adjusted the strength/efficiency of survivors away from healing and put it into endurance effect (also DH nerf was bs since endurance has been buffed/has been added to more perks after its gutting).

On the bright side, no one plays at the top level consistently because matchmaking doesn't work most of the time and killers can lobby shop. Nice try though.

We do. And half of them are bad. From the remaining 16, survivors hate at least 6. So now we only have 10 killers to choose from. And out of those 10 killers at least 5 aren't fun. The remaining 5 are either incredibly difficult and not worth the effort or they feel clunky.
What do survivors have anything to do with this? Or do they have to be part of the conversation so you can come up with the number 5? Are we now going to start a whole conversation about survivor rulebook etc? Please spare me.
Killer mains don't have to limit them to Pig, Myers, Ghostface, Freddy, Sadako and Trapper and be convinced their only other viable option is Nurse and Blight. There's plenty of in between, but you'd think visiting this forum these are all the killers, lol.

Nothing is wrong with the meta from the survivor side. Survivor is just as easy and strong as ever in fact more so since WoO does your pathing for you and you have 4 to 5 health states and perks to that speed up gens.
The only problem with survivor is the same problem that has always been there. Other survivors not doing gens. Just look at your hud and see how often none of the other survivors are doing anything.
Killer has no threat unless survivors just don't try.
I would trade WoO for pre-nerf Dead Hard. Since Windows plays the game for you maybe playing DH instead is skillful comparatively.
-
Really strange post to make about a game that is still live and evolving. You can't freeze the game to the meta you want.

Killers should not be able to see gen aura and figure out they can 3-gen from the start of the game, they have to check them themselves and earn it. Now nerf WoO.

about the same as deliverance. sometimes it doesn't do anything, sometimes it saves the game, sometimes it helped but you aren't sure how much.
you do get a bunch of bp for it.
and making it clear, I'm not saying it works just as well as in swf. just that it works well enough.
also, it's fun. you run in, scream "FOR THE PEOPLE!!!" and hope the killer doesn't take it personally... XD
To me it feels the same way with Buckle Up + FTP cause usually you also have to bring Bond if you're solo to make it easier to track your teammate.
bond works... but empathy would be better. I didn't use either. Just regular map awareness and figuring out where the survivor is running the killer.
I did bring WoO when I could, and sometimes that helped cause I saw the pallet going down, but usually I could just hear the heartbeat regardless, it's usually not hard to figure out where someone is getting chased when you are specifically paying attention to it.
I'm not trying to find a use like yours I'm trying to make it work when the killer downs the survivor and you just pick them up immediately so they can extend the chase, too time consuming for me. I rather do gens than tail someone who keeps running away from me.
I did do that. it's how I saved people from last hook, they went down and I got them back up as fast as I could (which is less fast than a swf could but, again, good enough.)
also, I was doing gens. I wasn't just running behind the killer. I trusted that people would survive until I could ftp them, which sometimes they did, sometimes not.
sometimes I was in a situation where I could ftp, but they were just too far... oh well 🤷.
I just used it if I saw an oportunity. which presented themselves enough times during some matches. and in some matches not really.
It would actually be cool if the survivor shouted when using FTP. I personally think it's more trouble than it's worth as a solo player. My teammates rarely have awareness even when I am tailing them and waiting to take a protection hit, so I rather bring something I find more reliable for my games. I find We'll make it a much safer, albeit not as clutch perk as FTP, but it gets the job done and it's useful for the team.

I'll assure you... ftp + buckle up works very fine on solo queue.
you gotta be a more altruistic player, but it functions perfectly fine.
managed to get everyone out of the basement from a camping killer(no, not bubba). he downed the one that got the save, and I managed to ftp them back up and everyone left. (had to dodge people running up the stair when I was going... can't expect perfect coordenation in solo queue)
everyone also survived the match, which in this case would not realistically happen in solo queue without ftp+bu.
that was the biggest example, but I have also saved people on death hook using it and some other less impactful uses.
if you think this is only good is swf, you are wrong.
Ok, but how many games out of 10 do you get use out of it? Unbreakable is also good, but I don't bring it, cause it's usefulness for me only comes 1/10 games. I rather run perks that are more reliable every game. Now if I were a SWF I could die to a pallet and ask my mate to harass the killer and buy me time to benefit from the healing speed boost and another mate get me up. See? A lot more reliable in that case.
To me it feels the same way with Buckle Up + FTP cause usually you also have to bring Bond if you're solo to make it easier to track your teammate. I'm not trying to find a use like yours I'm trying to make it work when the killer downs the survivor and you just pick them up immediately so they can extend the chase, too time consuming for me. Good points.
It's just killer will never stop complaining about survivor strategies.
Survivors were staying injured before CoH come-out and DH was super meta.
Killers: Staying injured is so safe, survivors has not another objective. They are doing only gens.
BHVR added Boons to game for give survivors another objective. Now CoH was super meta and survivors was wasting a lot time to bless totems and heals.
Killers: Survivors are always full health. We have no pressure on them. Hitting them is pointless because they will heal.
BHVR nerfed CoH and medkits to ground and killed Dead Hard for make staying injured even more risky. Sloppy Butcher buffed for make healing even worse. After these Adrenaline and Ressilience is now meta perks. Survivors are focusing on gens even more for not waste time with healing.
Killers: Survivors are staying injured and focusing on gens. Nobody is healing.
They will never stop to complain tho. Unless BHVR decide to make survivors start trial on hooks. I am sure someone will complain about 4% chance is so high and rewarding.
The way i understand what killers want is passive slowdown in the form of injured/healing nerfs, without survivors getting anything in turn to balance the scales. They want Thanatophobia basekit (and better) most just can't say it.
When they say staying injured has no cost they mean, it has no cost on gen speed or survivor actions. The want being injured, except for a risky state, to also be a debuff for the survivor in general. That's what I understand they want. I've only seen a few admit to wanting Thanatophobia basekit, but from their complaints that is what I get. Perhaps Thanatophobia only for gens so as to incentivize healing, otherwise if healing still takes a lot of time, then in that case doing gens injured will again be the better strategy.
The only scenario I can imagine that would incentivize getting healed is receiving a 50% slowdown on gen speed if you are injured. But we all know in such a case solos will be the sacrificial lambs again and then we'll have complain threads over Bond, Empathic Connection etc. which would become meta for solo survivors.
But with Sloppy Butcher running rampant they indirectly *disincentivize healing lol.

I don't think it's smart to tailor matchmaking solely to what players think they want when they don't understand the intricacies of a matchmaking system. I wouldn't get much done at my job if we asked our customers how they thought we should solve problems and based our solutions on that. Players *think* they want the fastest queue times. Of course they're going to say that. Nobody is going to say they want a restaurant to take 30 minutes to cook their burger if given the choice. But they're going to send back a burger you barely cooked in 30 seconds. It's silly to even ask people because it sets an expectation you can't reasonably meet either way. Find the middle ground that makes the system work with reasonable queue times and roll with it.
This is exactly what BHVR have done. Players think they want close matches, but this means queue times longer than matches themselves.
Players DO want fast queue times over close matches, because close matches are sweaty matches.
When players say they want close matches, what they really want is weaker opponents.
I've had fun matches even if I die/lose. It can happen but you are right that close matches are sweatfests because everyone is at the same level. Although snowballing can happen over certain mistakes but comebacks are more common as well (I'd say from the killer side though, as they have stronger come back potential in general than survivors imo).
