i wish more posts were like this on the forum, no complains in sights and just very good and useful tips for people to help them get better instead of the classic "i'm better, y'all trash". gj op

I mean in depth guides against killers would be pretty helpful, but no one feels like doing it. Or maybe they just don't want people to know how to counter them? Or they think everyone knows. For Plague I hear so many contradicting things that for the longest time I did not know to cleanse or not cleanse and why.

The only guide we have is otz guide on how to counter killers and even that is not comprehensive enough.

I think camping, tunneling, slugging, leaving your team mate on hook to finish the last gen, and leaving your team mate on hook to escape yourself are all fine, and no this is not satire.

Probably way more people feel this way, otherwise this kind of playstyle wouldn't be as common in DBD.

You are right and I think it would look very creepy seeing her cheerfully duck under all the doorways, but I think I am all Resident Evilled out. Other than skins for existing characters, I really hope they look elsewhere for licences now.

I just want them to bring Devil May Cry cosmetics for the RE characters. They're both owned by Capcom. It's such an obvious collaboration too.

You'd break every Myers and GFs heart if they couldn't play on Lerys

You don't understand, when maps are concerned all killers are the same except Nurse and Blight. When MFT is concerned only M1 killers count. There is no variety of killers in DBD. You have been dreaming of Pinhead, Plague, Artist, pyramid Head, Wesker, Knight etc. All that exists and matters are M1 killers along with Blight and Nurse. There's no in between.

  • Even if exhaustion perks get nerfed, survivors will be buffed in a different way as long as BHVR is looking at 60% winrate being the ideal.

You'll find something else to be annoyed about, and if you're having trouble winning (Idk just making an assumption) you'll still have trouble even with exhaustion perks nerfed. Even if any survivor strategy is gutted new ones will emerge and killers who cannot adapt and still play in an old-fashioned way will still have trouble.

  • @notyarbllewe said:

There is nothing good going on with map offerings. They are only messing up the playerbase an insane amount, both bringing lower-skilled survivors further up the MMR rank than they should be as well as giving an unfair game to equally skilled killers.

With practically no maps fully good for killer besides MAYBE Midwich and Dead Dawg, map offerings are essentially giving survivors unfair buffs.

I'm really sorry to say this, developers, as I know you've been working hard recently, but I will be blunt here: each new map made has almost gotten more and more survivor-sided, and with map offerings not being removed, they are only getting more and more useful for tryhards each time a new map is released.

Survivors often say they do it just for the map achievement, but to be honest, I feel like these achievements are only negatively affecting the outcome of rounds due to the map's problem.

Imagine thinking those are the only good killer maps and not acknowledging that certain maps are good on killers and other bad on them. Lery's and RPD is pretty good on stealth killers, but Lery's is bad on Blight. The Borgo is great for Huntress because many walls have holes in them or are not high enough. The game is great on Doctor. Indoor maps are great for SM. Maps with more than one floors are bad for Artist. Open maps are great for Hillbilly but can be difficult to traverse for M1 killers.

Can we stop pretending killers can only play in two maps and have advantage?

I would make the exact opposite argument. In order to pip, you have to play in a 'fun' or 'fair' manner. Killers have to go for multiple hooks, so camping/tunneling is disincentivized. Survivors have to be chased and heal allies, so hiding and ignoring healing is disincentivized. Both sides are getting their most common complaints addressed by attempting to pip. Survivors genrush? No pip. Killer facecamps? No pip.

If anything, being to efficient can even make you de-pip.

  • She also had the best stage in the game. I kinda felt robbed playing vs Donna.

What survivor would they bring in game though? Rose Winters?

its not easy because survivors have to be blind to not see uncrouched pig. it only works in lerys, midwich, rpd...

and also even if I got the first hit, there is still 20+ pallets around, survs shouldnt have much problem.

It works on specific jungle/pallet gyms as well that have high walls and obstruct your view. You can even sneak up on someone working on shack gen.

it was needed?? old dead hard or pre nerf dead hard was most stupid thing ever. I stopped playing killers because everyone was using DH.

it leads you to lose-lose situation on pallets, it was absolutely broken. survs using it with mft, but its not much of problem right now.

Well what's your excuse for murdering it now then? MFT? People are still gonna use it if it's as broken as people claim. DH won't stop if from getting used.

What a weird thing to say. To stop caring about winning theres no reason to play

Let me rephrase that for you then. Knowing that there's a 40% escape rate for survivor atm and possibly even less if you play solo, you have to understand that a lot of games are out of your control, something you have to accept to even enjoy this game. If you get frustrated you're not escaping and would like to escape more, it can be very taxing on you (at least on solo) since you cannot control your teammates. Plus escaping through hatch does not raise your MMR and doesn't make it more likely to get decent teammates more often.

In my opinion, many games feel quite winnable if only there was more co-ordination between solos, which does feel unfair not having that feature. But I know I'm probably losing the game when aI see 2-3 flashlights in my lobby, because they'll be playing in a stupid way.

  • Even if exhaustion perks get nerfed and maps become smaller, there will still be a significant amount of killers who will still have trouble and lose the games, especially since BHVR wants to keep the 60% winrate. So even if maps and perks were nerfed survivors would be buffed in a different way and those killers would still lose and be unable to keep up.\

10k hours does not mean someone is good. Most people will hit a plateau and it'll be much harder to improve on a faster pace than the rest of the playerbase. Even if you do improve, keep in mind that the playerbase will also keep improving so you might not ever be above the majority of it and you'll always be average (but there's nothing wrong with that).

  • @DudelPuma said:

the solution for this is in the mid chapter patch (smash hit only 20sec exhausting), increasing the exhausting: sprint burst to 90sec exhausting, lithe, balance and DH 120sec so it is difficult to combine it with MFT as an example, you can then Also bring in other ideas of exhausting perks and balance them based on "cooldown" because there is no reason to play Lithe Smash Hit instead, it gets interesting when one gives significantly more exhausting than the other (some get nerfed or others get a buff )

When you're not happy DH is dead and you want to bury it even further ^

  • You played that way because you knew you won the game basically. I guess you could co-ordinate custom games through a discord or something? A couple of weeks ago I played some 1v1 as survivor vs a killer to train my flashlight since I use controller as well as see how long I'd last. I came to the conclusion I am pretty bad vs Huntress, I fall for all the tricks in the book.

And I'd like to do it again tbh. But Idk how it'll limit people from being dickheads and bringing broken stuff or playing in obnoxious ways rather than train. Because to disable perks and add-ons doesn't really offer the best practice for real games imo.

I mean, all 3 boons would have to be nerfed significantly even dark theory if they were cross map. Boons always have the issue of having only 1, perk maybe 2 for counterplay. Expo is already strong in certain scenarios, way more than most people give credit for. The other two with map wide radius would be far too strong.

Expo is only strong in a SWF. Your suggestion will not change anything for solo. As it is atm, boons are useless for solo survivor. They might give value once in a blue moon.

  • To me it's focusing on the survivor you hooked and ignoring the rest. Meaning ignoring the unhooker, dropping the chase you were on as soon as the survivor you hooked gets unhooked. Downing survivors trying to body block and still chasing your target.

I don't care if it's advantegeous or not, that is tunneling. Focusing on taking out one survivor can be in your detriment or it can lead to a 3-4k. Doesn't matter, the fact that you're focusing on that one survivor means it's tunneling, not whether it's a good or bad decision based on the circumstances.

  • Boons are pretty bad atm. CoH is still decent in a SWF but got gutted for solo. I rather bring Bond than CoH to find people to heal and to heal me. It doesn't need set up, cannot be snuffed, is multi-purpose, is not stationary. Maybe they should make boons whole-map like hexes are now. They'd be salvaged that way.

  • Slugging for the 4k should not be possible and this is the one situation where basekit UB would make sense. If the killer cannot find the 4th survivor fast he should be in risk not rewarded with 4 chill minutes where you can look in peace.

Stealthy players who slam gens are not skilled and many times can turn into a liability to their team. Just yesterday I had a game where it was perfectly winnable and when I died and spectated I saw Mikaela hiding in the locker (she'd been hiding when we were still 3 left) instead of finding the others and healing and do out last gen. Hate seeing someone with no hooks not use them for the benefit of the team or take protection hits. I also make sure to kill them when I'm playing killer.

  • What's the point of flashlights then? Plus you don't get stunned, you get blinded. You can still move and attack while you're blinded.

  • My games have been incredibly winnable today and we still end uo throwing somehow. I dunno how they do it.

Really? I thought he is more popular on higher levels.

I see to be in a strange limbo then as I see maybe 1 Wesker in 15 matches which is quite similar to at least his pick rate according to Nightlight.

I think he's popular across all levels. Perhaps he seems more common in high MMr because less weak killers are played, so the pool of killers can be smaller. But if I were to assume, I'd think he'd be more popular in low/mid levels because casual players like him since RE is so popular. It's also why RE survivors are stereotyped as been total noobs. (Leons having half a braincell, Rebecca's dying 10 seconds in a chase, Claire's also being meh etc.)

  • @nars said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3482261#Comment_3482261

because UB is one of few perks in the game that can completely deny a killers win. Its effect is so incredibly powerful that even though you probably wont get value, it just might even out with that one game you do.

How can UB deny killer the win? Unless you mean he slugs all 4. Which is its purpose anyway.

If the killer does not slug it does nothing. And if you're left last with another survivor and killer slugs for the 4k 9/10 times you can't deny him his win even if you get value out of UB.

Majority of killers don't slug all 4, so this doesn't counter most killer playstyle. At most it could counter Sadako condemn or Nurse slugging all 4. And you'd probably encounter 1/50 and I'm being generous. UB is a perk that is useless 9/10 for solo survivors and useful in a 4man SWF, since you can drop next to a pellet and have a teammate threaten the killer with a pallet stun to get its increased recovery speed.

With proposed DH changes you don't need to play in a SWF to get use out of it, that's the point. You'd be self-reliant.

  • I don't play killer often but the killers I enjoy are Artist, Plague, Pyramid Head.

I'd probably also find Wesker fun.

  • Nea is actually the Entity.

  • @LapisInfernalis said:

Then those players should naturally dislike Nurse, Spirit, Blight or even Huntress as well.

And maybe encourage them to learn how to loop properly.

They probably already do dislike those killers, Wesker is just more popular than all of them combined, especially on lower levels.

  • And you still don't get use out of then 9/10 games. Why run UB to have a perk 1/10 gameswhen I could run something that is not as niche?

  • @DrKetchup said:

It's like an Orwellian nightmare. One day he is considered the most fun killer to play against, then the next day he is the most horrible killer and deserves to be removed from the game. It's really scary to see how easily people's perceptions can be influenced by a few content creators. What's next? Huntress?

You have to keep in mind the people who enjoy playing vs Wesker are probably not the same as the ones who don't enjoy playing against him. Also some people just hate getting chased in general, so of course they would hate Wesker as he can negate the distance one can make with something like SB(or any other exhaustion perk) vs an M1 killer.

I have had people in my team bring Spine Chill who go hiding out of fear of the killer or hiding in lockers. They are usually not very good in chases. Small wonder they'd dislike Wesker. You need to understand Wesker's power somewhat and not make decisions in panic to last against him.

  • @Akumakaji said:

Thanks, I will be taking notes here and try out Pentimento/Plaything Wesker tonight. Game has become so quick and fast paced, so let's see what the Wesker hype is all about.

It's also good on Oni, I've seen a couple run it. I'm also going to assume it's a lot stronger on indoor maps because you can't see any of the two approach.

  • Dude, you have already killed everyone in your screen shots. If you showed me this after just a kill you might actually have a point.

  • I don't think killers/perks should be nerf because they're popular that is silly. Wesker is as popular as he is because he is a licensed character and he was a great design, might even be the best designed licensed character BHVR has ever added. Every new killer that has come after is getting compared to Wesker, which imo is really silly. Wesker was simply a gold-mine. Nothing will probably top him and if there will be a killer who does then we should consider ourselves lucky to witness that.

I think his problems lie on the fact that he can tunnel super easily because of his power and his exploits which raise his skill ceiling by a lot imo. Thankfully I have not had to face a monstrous Wesker who can use his exploits and do godly things, but if these become features then we have to start looking at Wesker in a different way than we do atm. Just cause it's niche atm doesn't mean people will not get better at him and his overall skill level will increase. You can get away with saying they're not a problem because at the moment very few people can use them reliably, but he's been out for less than a year. Plus the time people need to become good at a playstyle shrinks exponentially over time because the playerbase's skill grows as well as more discoveries are made. The difficult part is finding new things to use on each killer/perk not actually learning how to do them, that usually takes less time.

  • M1 killers are inherently boring. I also find them boring in chase as well most of the time.

  • @Ariel_Starshine said:

Because us fighting the wonderful weird lag system in game resulting in most dead hards just giving us exhaustion while being dead wasn't enough. They had to kill the perk because people complained on here ad nauseum.

Now it's useless and has joined the other dead perks for more perk bloat, huzzah.

People compleined about DH at windows and DH on pallets and killers being unable to lunge. But here I see that people just hate DH even if it became a perk that worked just on the stronger killers and din't affect mid/low tier killers. So yeah you're pretty much right.

  • @fulltonon said:

That's the result of removing slowdown variety from killers.

PoP goes the Weasel has been buffed, you simply need to get hooks to find use out of it though. And Jolt has been really buggy and strong recently. But yeah, unless you can down people you cannot get regression which work that way anyway.

I would assume they're playing Plaything because he has a huge terror radius and survivors are kind of forced to cleanse against him since he can snowball really hard. It also offers slowdown in general. I've also seen Oni's use this from time to time. kind of surprised they don't use it more often.

  • If you're playing against 4 decent survivors (which I would assume means they can loop sufficiently, know which gens to prioritize, understand killer powers etc.) you're going to have trouble regardless if they bring MfT or not. And of course if they're decent they're gonna be decent at looping which means the get MfT value, that's the point. At the moment MfT does too many things at one. They could afford to separate its endurance effect from it's haste and it'd still be ok imo.

CoH nerf didn't hurt SWF as much, it hurt solo most. So even if you get the MfT nerf you want, those decent survivors are still gonna be giving you a hard time, just in a different way and then there'll be another nerf to be annoyed about (maybe Adrenaline again? Ever since MfT came out it kind of de-throned it)

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3482144#Comment_3482144

Truly, crazy how some killer mains think it's normal to want a survivor perk to be nerfed to the ground or basically be a killer perk simply because survivors enjoy it.

Goes to show you how often they truly play vs 4-man SWFs as well. Many perks are so niche already that they are only strong in 4-man SWFS (Power Struggle being one of them, and Deliverance a second one). If they played against them as often you'd see complains about perks other than WoO, Made for this, Distortion, exhaustion perks in general. All of which are more useful for a solo player than someone playing in a SWF.

  • The stronger the survivor the stronger he can counter killers. Killers can also bring pretty strong add-ons to mitigate their weaknesses (counters that is) or mitigate their killer's skill. Look at Spirit having Cherry Blossom add-on, which basically removes her skill/weakness and the player piloting her doesn't really have to be skilled at her.

When killer's bring their strongest stuff survivors usually have a very hard time countering them individually, they have to counter them on a macro level and as a co-ordinating Team.

  • It's different because it's not a burst of distance. You can be hit during it most of the time if you use it badly. Same with SB. But you couldn't with DH for distance. Do you even play survivor or just prefer to theory-craft?

It's probably a perk that might be somewhat useful for good survivor and meme level on average/bad survivors. There's nothing wrong with perks being that way. We even allow it for certain killers (ex. Nurse and Blight). Survivors should have perks that are strong in good hands on an individual level and not get only niche perks that work if you play in a 4-man SWF.

  • I always find it funny people say survivor is easy now. I thought people said survivor used to be broken before? What with old DH and everything like old Flashlights. So which one is true. Was survivor more skillful in the past? Or is it more skillful now?

  • @fulltonon said:

Punishing killers for using their power is stupid.

Killers who rely mostly on M2 are majority of the time strong.

It does nothing to Sadako, Pinhead, Deathslinger, Ghostface, Hag, Nemesis, Trapper, Wraith, Clown, Doctor and whoever else I'm missing.

I don't think there's any issue having a sort of counter for predicting Nurse, Blight, Huntress, Wesker, Plague etc. Plus with Wesker you still get infected.

The problem as people complained was always being able to use DH at pallets and windows, at least that's what people claimed bothered them. And how it punished weak killers and made them unable to lunge, which is not going to be happening anymore anyway.

  • @Devil_hit11 said:

because it would be an empty perk slot vs 60% of the cast.

There arew many perks that are empty perk slots a lot of the time. See Unbreakable, Deliverance, Soul Guard,, Blastmine/Flashbang vs Lightborn etc.

  • @nars said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3481801#Comment_3481801

Blights an outlier there, thats why I didnt mention him as one who cant wait it out. Nurse absolutely cant wait it out unless you are out in a deadzone (where you absolutely shouldnt be against nurse, so skilled survivors wont be). Against good LOS breaking survivors you already need one blink just to establish LOS, the second to hit. The only situation where you can wait it out in an LOS break scenario is if you PERFECTLY blink to the survivor, which is unreasonable to expect since you cant even see them.

Disagree DHing wesker is easy. Average human reaction time is 0.2s. Takes 0.5s to go the full distance of your first dash. So essentially unless they are using it like 30% closer than the full distance (a distance they can probably just lunge/dashing isnt viable) then the DH is completely reactionary and also lasts just as long as the dash does. The second dash takes 1 full second but unless hes super duper close to you its not hard to just react when he gets closer. Even if hes crazy close for the second dash a reaction DH can still force him to wait out most of his timer.

Well... yeah obviously a new survivor isnt gonna hit DH. Because their new. And bad. After like 5 games of using it though they'd have it down and be able to DH most killer powers. people being bad isnt a defense lol.

there should be more skilled perks. Stuff like SB and adrenaline are great examples.

Endurance DH is not a reaction based perk, they designed as a prediction based perk. So your reaction matters less than your experience and mind reading skills.

Plus like I said, latency is a real thing, not some theoretical variable. There are plenty of killers who play with high ping, making it much harder to time DH against certain powers otherwise we would see people getting hit after fast vaulting clearly non-reaching attacks.

  • I don't think any game that wants to be successful and stay relevant is interested in balancing perfectly. People will get bored because the most optimal and efficient ways are discovered very fast, so people would have to play a certain way to get a 4k/escape. That's why you see many other games nerf and buff stuff. It's not because they're trying to achieve some sort of perfect balance, if anything they're trying to make people go out of their comfort zone and adapt.

And no I don't think everyone would be able to play on the same level, because the game keeps changing. Even if the game stayed the same and only new killers/survivors got added they'd still significantly impact the balance of the game, DBD is not able to stay static because it is still supported and developed. Plus not all meta's fit all people, that's why you have so many posts here complaining they can't win anymore, because they cannot adapt. Maybe the current meta does not speak to them, maybe they are stuck in their old ways and cannot give up their old habits. The sign of a good player is usually also adaptability.

  • @nars said:

This would be equally as annoying as old DH. One of its main issues was how its uncounterable on killer powers. How is a wesker/nurse/pig/huntress/oni/knight/billy/demo supposed to counter DH when its used on their powers? They cant wait it out and their so highly telegraphed that its braindead to trigger.

On command third health state will always be overpowered bad game design unless highly limited like it is now. I could deal with some dh buffs though.

    • Now can be used once on no hook. (basically 3 uses instead of 2)
    • (maybe this is overboard) if you dont tank a hit with the DH, that hook stage of DH can be used again.

I think I've seen Blight players bait it by not swinging during their rush. I guess the same could be said for Nurse as well as good Nurses already don't swing if they think they can't reach you to avoid wasting time.

Hitting a DH vs Wesker isn't that easy honestly, plus DH already has issues with latency. Many killers with M2 powers get a lot of generous hits and DH needs a lot of precision.

A newbie survivor is not gonna hit a DH vs Wesker, Huntress, Trickster (and Trickster also has visual bugs because first of all they don't know the timing and second they probably don't even know what special hits are.

There should be more perks for survivor that have a high skill floor and a high skill ceiling on an individual level, not them being removed and ending up with perks that are useful in a SWF environment but incredibly niche as solo.

  • @Iron_Cutlass said:

    This would cause more frustration.

It would basically be the game saying "nice job using your power, unfortunately that hit doesnt count".

Also this is entirely ignoring the fact that some characters do not use their power to hit people directly, like Sadako, Dredge, and Clown, I guess technically they are "weak", but it would basically be an empty perk slot against them.

I think DH is fine how it is now, well, I thought it was fine before even, since DH required good timing to pull off anyways. I dislike this Made For This meta we are in more than DH.

I think it's a decent drawback to DH, since it'd be quite strong against certain killers. Plus there are many perks who already can be a wasted perkslot like Unbreakable, Deliverance etc.

They can still sabotage but the idea around the discussion is whether setting a average gen speed would be better for the game overal

Sabo would have to be buffed then. As it is right now, doing a sabo build as solo is not very reliable for the most part.

Sounds interesting. What are you playing it on? I wanted to at some point but i heard the PC port is kinda broken so i wasn't sure how i should play it.

I'm playing it on a ps2 emulator, there's also HD collection for the ps3 but I've heard it's not that good. SO I guess your best bet is a ps2 port.

  • I played slippery meat for some games. It turned out clutch some games. Only with slippery meat on and no other luck perks/offerings I feel you can reliably unhook yourself every other game.

  • As I rarely play killer, I very often get matched with newbies. Sometimes I let them wiggle off if I find them hiding in a locker cause they're just super scared. Usually if you try to be friendly, I will turn it into a BP farming and just get a few hooks and let them do their gens and leave. I had two identical Mikaelas in Midwich who were being friendly and I could not kill them despite starting the game with the intention of playing normally. I cannot be a very ruthless killer. I mostly play Artist but I am not that good with her, I play her very sub-optimally.

As for survivor, after I reach Iri grade I chill and try not to stress myself for pips since they require a lot, I still make it to Iri 2 most of the times and I run perks I find fun like Blastmine/Flashbang etc. Now I'm running item farming perks like Ace in the Hole and Appraisal. Once Nic Cage comes in DBD I'll buy him and use his exhaustion perk as well and hope I can generate items. It's just fun, ngl.

My games yesterday started pretty bad. I was left on hook to hit second stage by my teammates and I'd just let myself die than play the game out. If they're that scared or AFK to go for a free hook save I don't feel like playing for them. Also had some fun games vs a friendly Myers (probably the only friendly killer yesterday). Had a very intense game vs Sadako, Artist (she was tunneling Cheryl :(, we tried to get protection hits for her and even downed us and she still wouldn't let Cheryl go, I died saving Thalita from hook because Kate left as soon as gens were done). Also got Clairvoyance value when I was the last one left so that was also cool as I rarely get hatch value.

  • I'm sure it's very hard to tell when there's a Claud with less than prestige 3 that goes down in 10 seconds in a chase. It's obvious they're smurfing.

I guess man's asking too much not to have killer 4k at every match, literally, 4k 4k 4k,

any killer any map any prestige, 4k, DC, 4k, noob survivor, 4k, instant unhooker, 4k, camper, 4k, 8 hooks at 5 gens remaining, 4k,

the "fun" you are describing, is no fun, that's literally goofing around, the thing you're describing as "fun" is as fun as going outside in the rain and trying to swim in the mud

It's pretty cringe when they down the AFK player, although I don't want to play with that player either cause he just made the game unwinnable for survivors. It's also cringe when they keep going after the weakest player who has less than a 100 hours in.
