  • Yesterday I was just looping an Oni and the frames dropped so hard that I literally didn't where I was for some 5 seconds (it was when Oni used his powers). And everytime single time he did that I just didn't know what was going on. It's just sad.

  • I don't really play solo anymore, because it's unbearable. Actually, I've been playing this game less and less and now I just play survivor with at least 1 friend. I'd say 90% of the time, since about 2 months ago, I've been playing swf of 2 and it's yet enough of a challenge. Not because of the info swf provides, since I run bond + kindred either way and always have a good idea on what's going on, but I know I can trust at least one person to do objectives and not just use me as a stepping stone to their escape. And even so I have to say that in many matches me and my friend usually complete 2 generators each and it feels like a 3 vs 1 game from the start (I won't deny that sometimes we are lucky and get some amazing teammates, but that's rare). I also won't say I don't screw up, because I also make mistakes, but it's usually when I try to be more aggressive.

When the planets allign and other friends wants to play too, I go with 3 or 4. But we're all average players. I don't know why people think they're going against gods if there's a full swf. It's just less likely there'll be those second or third killers in the game.

    There needs to be something.

If eating a DC penalty, or turning the game off is preferable to:

    • recording the match.
    • Editing the clip.
    • Uploading it to YT.
    • Going to DBD website.
    • Filling in a report.
    • Providing a link to the clip.

    Then that’s a problem.

Not only you have to do all that, but you won't have any feedback and will never know if it means anything or no.

I totally understand you. I quit too.

  • Ok, you ranted and had your win. Try to play the game for fun sometimes too, ok?

  • Hmm I always use head on to complete these kind of challenges. At least 1 per match is guaranteed, granted that I can hide from the killer once. But this last time I got the 4 stuns in just 2 matches. The flashlight ones, however, I always skip.

I agree that those challenges are way too situational

  • @Freki said:

@jaysime you are wrong it WAS the feng that dc'd. unless you were in that match with me just because others have feng's perks doesn't mean that they are the one playing feng. I am not denying the bug exists but in this case it was the feng that dc'd after i'd been carrying her. it still took a moment to register the dc and my character was starting to walk faster after picking her up. I also accept that the dc functions this way, and it's a good thing over all that I will not argue against but stop telling me who it was that dc'd unless you were in the match.

Hey, chill down a bit. I'm not attacking you, so there's no need to be aggressive :P. And I'm sorry. For your narrative and the circles you made in the print I understood the survivor that was being chased was the one that got some points (and that made sense too because of the perks and the character you described). And that survivor is not the one that disconnected.

But anyway, this game bugs. If it was her that disconnected after the match started, the match wouldn't be cancelled like it did. It would just go on, like it always does. So I deduce someone else must have crashed. I can't be certain. But in the same way I could be wrong, you could also be when you say they just disconnected on purpose.

  • Usually, when this happens for me, is because someone's game crashed while loading or something like this. I usually play with a friend and this happened to her one of these days (she loaded in the trial, but in her screen she was unable to move or do anything, but for me the game was going on normally and then she was kicked out of the match and everyone was disconnected).

Similar thing happened to me. I was in loading screen and she was already playing the game. It seems a person got hooked before the game recognized the match wasn't loaded properly. It's not a common thing, but it happened twice here. I play on PS4. This game crashes and kick us out for no reason.

And from the print you showed, it wasn't Min you chased the one that disconnected. So I believe it was just this bug.

  • Hmmm, playing a game with the mindset I will lose early everytime just makes me want to play something else. Unless I screw up really bad, which sometimes I do, I feel I should enjoy most part of the game...

But well, being efficient is indeed key to victory, but sometimes it's just not fun for me (both when the killer or the team is able to be too efficient does not feel like a fair match to me).

  • I was playing against a Bubba on Haddonfield. He had Franlkin's and he downed me in the first floor of a house in front of a locker. After being unhooked and went back there to retrieve my item and I was spamming R1 to claim it (I was also running), my character entered the locker and a teammate was hooked at the same moment, so he saw me entering it.

I slowly got out of that locker, claimed my item and, since I noticed Bubba was coming right back for me, I hid in the locker in the back to watch what was going to happen. Bubba came in, pretended he didn't know I entered the other locker and after some seconds he stood right in front of it for some time (I believe he thought I have DS, since he spent a long time just camping that locker). Then he opened it and there was no one inside hahahaha

Next thing he proceeded to open every locker in the house, so I had to escape, but in the end I died. But that was really fun hahahahaha.

What if I play both roles and think that survivor's an easier experience? I mean people see things differently than you, it's how it is.

I won't say it's easier or harder, because it depends on many factor for each experience, but I will still be glad people play both sides to understand the other better and have some empathy too. I mean, sometimes I feel like people forget there are people playing on the other side too.

  • @ImBrakingBike said:

Meanwhile, here I am, as a rank 8 survivor having to face rank 1 killers. It's no fun either way. 😫

Same. That's what I hate the most when playing: being matched with people far too better than me, I don't even stand a chance, be as survivor or as killer. It's just frustrating.

    @Nightlykiss said:

So is any other killers tired of the matchmaking. Someone please explain how this is fair.

I feel you. I face the same problem as killer. It's less often now with crossplay, but still a thing.

  • Many perks can be annoying, depending on how they're used. Bond, empathy and kindred are used by some people to sandbag. Some people use WGLF to farm you. Others equip SB and simply walk the whole game, even if the killer is miles away.

But these same perks can also de used well. Sometimes you need to save someone on the hook from a killer proxy camping and there's no one to heal you: self care can save you and your teammate. Or even when you unhooked someone, if the person self cares while you work on the gen for 32 seconds, you have more gen progress than if you heal your teammate and then both work on the gen for 16 seconds. Sometimes you don't have that time to do so, but sometimes you do.

It's not really about the perk, but how people manage their use. I personally run bond + kindred quite often, and nothing annoys me more than watching a teammate scared in the corner for the whole match at purple ranks. But I can't blame their perks.

Well, yeah,i would play as survivor more often if i wouldn't have that lag that stops me from repairing a gen and practically offers me on a plate to the killer XP

Well, we get quite used to some latency. I can't count how many times I've been hit from meters away or when the frame dropped out of nowhere and then something bugged, like the times I couldn't see skill checks anymore and needed to restart the game. Hope the hitbox thing gets out soon, fixed. But... hmmm, if you lag as survivor, you may also lag a bit as killer, and that's not cool if you get some free hits for it. Better check that out (at least for me, I play on ps4 and the game seems to perform better when I'm a survivor than when I'm killer :( )

  • I never played Blendette, but I found out dbd by watching videos from a Blendette player, and he is still an amazing survivor I look up to until now.

He can hide so well that it's fun (I think hiding from the killer is indeed fun, as long as you don't last the whole match hiding). This guy (Pain Reliever) not only knows how to hide, but he can loop and juke really well, so he is not a detriment at all.

Sometimes I just take a stealth approach to my gameplay and I think it's fun. You can waste the killer time as much as in a good chase if you can hide well. The thing is just to know when to hide and when to face the killer head on. People like to say one style of playing is better than other, but what caught me in dbd was the "horror movie simulator".

I remember reading the description of the game for the question: What would you do if you were in a horror movie? Which way would you go? Would you help your friends, run or hide?

That's what I like the most on dbd, this approach on horror. That's why I try to keep a little bit of fear of killers and not go in just for the looping game (that can be fun, but only goes so far for me).

  • Well, I'm up for killers trying to play survivor for a change. You should play both sides anyway to feel the whole experience.

  • @Carlosylu said:

    Be honest

As survivor, I think I'm an 8/10 I risk it too much trying to be the hero when I shouldn't

As killer I think of myself as a 9/10

4/10 on survivor, -15/10 as killer. That's it. I'm quite new to the game, don't know the maps very well (and there are so many) and still have a lot to learn. Some main buildings I have an idea of how to loop, but most I'm not aware.

I try to play safe, but I'd kill myself for a teammate who'd do the same for me. But I think I have a pretty good idea about most of the killers abilities and perks, the same about survivor's perks. Sometimes I play with friends way more experienced than me and they don't recognize some patterns on playstyle that reveals what is the killer tactic and what to avoid. It's interesting.

  • Now I can play with my friends from PC (though that rarely really happens... but when it does, it's fun).

Don't really hate it. But I have to say that it annoys me a little as killer that PC survivors can hug the wall in a way consolers can't, so it usually takes more time as a m1 killer if they're good in that way.

  • @bubbabrotha said:

To clarify, what are your rules of play? Ill start:

I don't give hatch to people that want it. I only give it if you earned it. I'm not gonna pity you just because you crouch and nod.

Unhook in front of me? That's a paddlin'. If you unhook in front of me, too bad! I'm downing both of you, starting with the unhooked one. Don't blame me, blame your teammate for being a poopy head.

I will still blame you for the down, since it was your decision to do it.

My rules as killer? I don't really care about anything, I just do what I feel like doing and hope to have fun while at it. And if the game keep me matching with people way more experienced than me, my rule is just to go play something else.

  • I think it depends on the situation. If you know there is someone nearby and it will take time from a current chase, it's not really worth it. But it is if you know (from bbq as example) it will regress a little bit. If you have a 3 gen situation and a good killer, that can quickly patrol these generators and down the survivors, it may be worth too.

I don't kick every single generator I see, but if there's nothing to lose there (like no survivor close by), why not? Otherwise, I just let it go.

  • I do like the keys a lot. I rarely am able to use them to escape actually, but what it makes it so good is the aura reading it provides. The thing is, I love getting the green keys, but for the killer it's like "oh, no, the op green key is on play, I need to be the worst kind of person I can be".

I think it's easier to escape now with the hatch offering, specially on maps like Hawkins, where you go through hell to find the hatch, but anyway, I love aura reading and the key is amazing for that (and no, I don't really care for the reading of where the killer is, I don't really think it's even worth it, since it only last for some seconds).

  • @ILoveDemo said:

I don't know what's going on, but I've been trying to use my Haddonfield offerings for days. Every time (9 of 10 Games) the Killer Dc or is AFK. Is there a thing why they doing this?

I had no problem when I was sent there as survivor (randomly of by offering).

They where playing normally. I got stuck in bushes, they did too... and we moved on haha

  • Leave the hatch as it is. This game is based around our hopes of escaping.

  • Hahaha somebody had some really nasty games with them Blendettes hahahaha But ok, you can be stealthy and still do good things for you team, it's just about knowing when to stealth and when not to.

  • In don't hate Ghost Face, but have no love for him either. Most of the GF I've been against just stealth camped at some distance and hard tunneled if they couldn't get the rescuer right away for any reason.

Besides, he is not revealed sometimes even if you keep looking at him...

    I'd rather go against Myers.

  • I'm burning maps as survivor this whole event for the simple reason there's been hard camping and tunneling 3 days straight. I can say I had 1 single nice killer, that was Blight playing normally (and that was before I've started burning maps).

I do want points, but if the killer doesn't care and the survivors won't get points anyway (I had matches in which the survivor earning the most points just got 8k), then its better to be efficient.

I was burning cakes in the beginning, but what was the point when the killer was the only one earning points from it?

  • It depends. I usually go with Spine Chill, Bond, Kindred and Open Handed, most of the time. If I want points, I switch OH for WGLF. If I feel the need for better chases I usually switch OH for Balanced Landing and try to do the gens close to somewhere I can get the boost. When I'm with a friend and have a mission to stun the killer, or just wanna have some fun, I switch Kindred and OH for Quick and Quiet and Head On, and normally I don't get out alive, but usually I have some fun.

As for killer, it depends on the killer. But I like to use Whispers a lot.

  • @kcwolf1975 said:

Is solo queue really that bad or is SWF just that strong.....

Solo is horrible, and not just for the lack of info. At least the randoms that get paired with me crouch through the map almost the whole game doing nothing (and I know this since I usually like running bond + kindred and most of the times I'm just disappointed of what I see), sandbag a lot, don't do gens nor totems and farm hooks without even borrowed time.

I can't count how many times I was internally begging not to be unhooked in the middle of a deadzone when the killer was just around, just to be tunneled and hooked right after. Or how many times I've seen people using the kindred info I provided on solo to bring the killer to someone who's sitting on a gen, so they can shake the killer off them and hide.

I'm purple rank and the reason I like swf more is not even because of the info (since I still run bond + kindred even in swf), it's just because I can be sure the game won't be thrown away and we may have a chance.

  • Well, as for me If they're only giving login rewards, I'm just logging in and then switching to another game. I'm only playing this now because of the double bloodpoints. But after that, probably putting this game to rest at least till I have 3 more friends to play swf (or if someone tell me people have chilled).

This game has the worst matchmaking ever (yesterday I was put, as survivor, with a rank 17 player with one single perk, totally lost, against a rank 6 killer... I am rank 6, my friend rank 5 and the other random rank 10). Killers are being as nasty as they can be, facecamping and tunneling every game from the start. And my precious teammates are sandbagging every oportunity they can. Sometimes I wish I could mori my own teammates (it gets to that level).

And the event didn't do anything to compensate until the bloodhunt.

I play strictly solo queue and we manage fine. Many times we even finish all gens with ruin still up. So why isn't it a problem in my solo queue games?

There is plenty of counter play to this combo so where's the issue?

Guess someone here has the luck I clearly don't.

Just today, I played dbd for about 3 hours and every single game there was at least 1 survivor who wouldn't do anything (just crouching somewhere even when kindred was on and the killer clearly was on the other side of the map), would sandbag, farm hooks on after the other. And we've been against high mobility killers every single time the combo was played.

If my random teammates were helping, I'd agree with you... but guess I'm not lucky enough to have that.

  • People here clearly don't play with randoms, saying this it's just easy to deal with the combo.

It's mostly unbearable to play solo, and against this, there's basically nothing you can do (but I guess that's what killers want, right? hope they get full red ranks swf one after another to experience the same frustration). Undying needs to lose its aura reading.

  • Same happened here with me and my friends! The game has been crashing when loading the trial and we get penalties for nothing in the middle of an event...

I think PS4 should get more love, because this game crashes a lot.

  • Because killers camp and tunnel hard most matches and I can't trust a random to do the job (since they sometimes are not doing any gens, somebody have to do it at full efficiency).

At least if I can make sure 3 gens are done when there are 2 people left, me and my teammates have better chances of escaping.

I try to have fun in the game... I usually don't even run exhaustion perks in order to run the build I like, but then I can only hold a chase for so long (more of a reason not to sleep on gen duty). And I don't run DS, so if I'm tunneled, what am I supposed to do?

I can assure that for most of the best moments I had in this game I didn't even survive the match, but I had a good opportunity to use my silly perks. It comes at a cost and so I have to play somewhat more safe, because it seems for killers fun means to achieve 4k at all costs, even if it means slugging everybody, tunneling everyone and facecamping.

But if I notice the killer isn't all out for blood, I may play a little... it's just not happening these days.

Besides, if I have missions of escaping for a daily or archive challenge... well, I wanna survive.

  • Today my day was hell too. So I reacted: burnt my Ormond offerings and brought my keys. I was able to get some blood points, but I played less than 2 hours today (and that considering I pushed on wanting to farm points because of the event).

Killers are just crazy and desperate. It seems I have to bring the meta perks and the worst offerings I have if I wanna play a game to the end now or find a full SWF to play with (what's not very likely tbh).

  • Camping? About every 9 out of 10 games, even if it's proxy camping. Tunneling? About 7 out of 10 games.

Just today my first 2 matches were against Bubbas and they were reeeeeally original by camping the hook or coming back to it as soon as the hooked person was unhooked (I mean... there's no excuse for Bubba, he has bbq). I also got a Pig crouch camping and a Ghost Face stealth camping.

Besides a Hillbilly just stopped a chase he was in to come back to my hook tunnel me in my first hook (???). And all that with 4 or 5 gens left. Killers are desperate.

And that's just today. Killers've been eating DS like crazy (except mine, because I don't like running it, but it seems to be unplayable without it now). There were more than those, but at least here and now tunnel and camping seems like a common practice. And I just came back to play because of the double points, but even so I'm unable to make that many points. As survivor I am level 6, and I get matched with killer from rank 12-1. But I may also say that for some reason, at least one of the randoms were rank 11+ and clearly still learning basics of the game, besides the sandbagging...

But you know what, after these games I just mentioned, I just ran key + Ormond offering for 4 games, because if I'm gonna be tunneled, at least I'll have a reason besides "the legit strategy". At least I got out most of these and got some points out of it.

  • Spine Chill for survivor. Because I never will have to be too paranoic against stealth killers or builds and thus better prepare for a reaction. I rarely let go of it.

As for killer, I think Whispers. Don't use it all the time, but it does help me not waste time looking for people.

  • Right now, survivor. Because I'm not really playing this game anymore (I'm keeping updated though)... I just play when at least a friend wants to. I mostly enjoy playing with my friends, so I have some fun even in stressful matches. Solo queue is just unbearable.

I'm not in the mood of playing killer because the matchmaking is atrocious, the FPS drops way too many times in the PS4 and the survivors on computer can do some things that are hard to compete against in the console.

  • I thought on doing that, but not only I had to report (which I did), I needed to send a video of the whole game to support and not even know if it fits their standards, because I won't be notified of the outcome. So in the end it didn't make a difference. But oh well...

  • @RizeAki said:

These are EXCUSES to dc not reasons to dc. Run your own map offering or sacrificial ward. Do the gens open the door and walk out if they are farming. Leaving that match screws all the others over also dealing with bad framerates but now they have 5 gens and a killer to work against as well.

I did that the other day (just work on gens and leave) just to be facecamped by the killer after I went to open the gate, because it seems he didn't approve I didn't want to farm... yeah, sure... never had so much FUN in my life

  • Actually, flashlight and pallet saves did not award tokens before. I use WGLF cause I'm still new and grinding and I've never received anything for those.

I like the new effect, but I still think we needed more ways to get tokens. I like to use head on and sometimes got some saves with it... so why shouldn't I be rewarded just like other saves? Besides, we should get tokens for healing slugs, since the perk is about it now too.

  • I think the challenges are fun. It makes me try things otherwise I wouldn't (like being more stealthy or aggro than usual).

But some challenges maybe are not that fun to the other side (like the one I needed to stun the killer 3 times... that was a head on hunt for me, because everyone seems to respect pallets).

Imagine your team not doing gens cause they're selfcaring when the killer is legion with thana and sloppy

That's a super specific scenario lol. Either way it doesn't justify your behavior, just show prejudice.

  • Hmmm, I guess I hate nurse the most, because I'm not good at looping and there's just not much you can do against her.

Besides, the ones I've been against mostly slugged people then camped the corpses to get the "sweet 4k". So it turns out just another form of camping, but with a killer you can't really loop. And when they finally decide to hook, they camp the hook too.

Besides that, any "sweaty" killer doing the "anything goes" to win just give me the "oh, god, why do I still play this game?" sensation. I just wanna have fun :P (besides, 80% of the time I die anyway... but if I'm dying, at least me allow to have some fun).

  • My regular build is all about information. So normally I use Spine Chill, Bond, Open Handed and if I'm on solo que I may just use Kindred too.

This build helped me avoid chases many times or sandbagging (I'd rather take a hit and turn back than sandbagging a teammate on an objective). With Kindred I can decide about unhooking safely when I'm solo or even when to run or hide if he killer comes straight my way.

If I'm playing with one or more friends I replace Kindred with Balanced Landing and to focus on more risky objectives in which I can take advantage of the perk to escape.

I think having the right info is more valuable than the exhaustion perk.

  • @whimsicaljoss said:

Victory isn't always clear cut in the this game. When do you feel like you've won a match?

    When you're a survivor:

    You survived?

    Your whole team survived?

    Half your team?

    When you're a killer:

    2 kills? 3 kills? 4 kills?

I ask because I've seen meltdowns in post game chats over a team losing a single survivor to the killer.

As a survivor I consider I win if I escape, by any means.

As a killer, if I hooked everyone at least twice and got 2+ kills, or otherwise if I get a 3k, I consider I win. I don't usually care for a 4k, and if the survivors are not teasing me, I usually let the last one escape.

But I don't care if I win or lose, as long as I can have fun in a game.

  • Balanced landing saved me more times that I could believe it. It's incredible like no killer expect you to have it and many times it bought me enough time for my team.

On the other hand, I always use kindred on solo q, and it gives me all the info I need for my next move. So I can't ever take it off.

  • Hmmm... I play DBD for about 2 months as killer, about 2 days a week. It isn't much, but Pig is my second most leveled up killer (still have a long way to go, but I've already tried combinations of add ons quite a few times).

    And I must say that:

1 - It's ok that trap activates only when generator are done. And this is why: if the survivors gen rush anyway, regardless of their teammate, you'll be putting extreme pressure on the trapped one. He will absolutely not do any gens until the trap is off: so you'll have more time to do your chases. Sometimes the traps are removed sooner, sometimes later. I think that's the most frustrating part... but I must say, on the weekend I got a game against a streamer and, after the game ended, I went to his stream and watched the match from his point of view. 2 out of the 4 traps were only taken off on the last box. And I was running the add ons that granted me 2 extras boxes, so they lost around 2 minutes each just trying to break free. Besides, they were doing gens regardless of someone having a trap on their head. So what happened? I had 2 people with traps with the timer on and when I hooked a third (that was on the second hook), they didn't go for the rescue afraid there wouldn't be time to save their own lives (that was a bad decision), and I was already chasing the fourth one thanks to bbq.

The traps force the player to make a choice: do gens and put themselves at risk, or stop for a while and play it safe. That's the whole point of the traps and it usually works for me if I'm able to put a trap on before the first gen pops.

Also, yesterday I had a game in which a head exploded. Why? Because the survivors kept doing gens, regardless of the person (Nancy) on the hook having a trap. So the trap activated and Nancy went looking for the boxes. But unfortunately, in the middle of a chase I found her trying to take it off: not in front of me. I hit her, forcing that survivor to look for the boxes on the other side of the map, then I bumped into her again a minute later, chased and hooked her from the way I saw her coming from. When she was unhooked she had not enough time to get the trap off. So, although the traps don't kill people often, when activated they do A LOT of pressure. And it's a mistake to let it activate before the survivor tried at least half of the boxes. So you can punish the survivors for not caring for their teammates.

The thing is that you really have to get out of one chase and go to another, to make sure that you'll have a second trap on someone before another gen is popped.

2 - The timer has to pause, otherwise you can just follow the survivor for 2 minutes and kill them without any counter play. The goal of the trap is to put pressure on a survivor without being in chase with them. If you can chase someone else right away, you'll have 2 people pressured at once. So you should be discouraged to chase someone that already has pressure on.

3 - I think the time given is ok... you can reduce it by 30 seconds with the tampered timer if you really want it to go super fast. And even use the other purple add on that spawn one more box to trigger the maximum despair.

I love the pig, but I think she needs reworking on her stealth a little bit (I think she moves too slow with it) or improving her ambush. Besides, half of her add ons just don't make much sense.

  • She REALLY needs a rework. I basically always use the same combination of VT + Combat Straps, unless I have enough add ons like Tampered Timer + Rule Set 2 or the ones that grant me 2 more boxes (that sometimes pay off). If I don't have the VT, I use the one that grants me one more trap... but that's it. Besides the one that blinds the survivor, the other add ons are pretty much useless, unless I hard tunnel the trapped ones, what is not a fun play.

I wish she had some status effects with her ambush, like other killers (something to cause the mangled status, exausted or something like that). And maybe that we had at least 1 more box by default.

  • I'm not a SB user myself. But I must admit that I did this (not waiting until the killer is 3 meters away, but I did walk until the killer is near) in order to fulfill that rift challenge that requires escaping the killer 3 times in a single match using SB. I know it wasn't so efficient, but it triggered the chase and granted me the free escapes I needed for that challenge.

  • I'm sure to say Pig and Plague. Those are my 2 favorites. I wanted to become a Plague main, but since her vomit is bugged and it's frustrating to play her right now, I left her aside. I play other killers too, but certainly I have the most fun with those 2.

  • OMG, Pig needs a rework ASAP. Some add ons are just basically useless. But I love playing her.
