There are other uses for insidious other than camping. One is that it works pretty well to bait people out of the exit gates during egc. Walk by the gate they are in and just go around the corner and wait. People fall for it because nobody expects insidious. You can camp a totem early in the game to get a quick hook. If survivors didn't bring any items with them, camp a chest for an easy sneak attack. Just because some people use it to camp doesn't mean it should be removed. Many survivors abuse ds to harass the killer for 60 seconds, should we remove that? Plenty of other worthless perks that should be reworked before this one.
Fine remove every perk in the game. While we are at it remove everything on the map besides gens and doors and hatch. On the second though remove doors and hatch too. Just gens if survivors manage to escape they deserved it. Are you cool with those changes?
Now on the serious note whenever insidious is in my games. It's never to surprise people at gates, it's always to camp someone at hook or in the basement. While somebody probably abused ds. I find that more killers tunnel survivors even with the fear of ds and after that 5 sec stun keep going after them.

It isn't multiplied. Or divided. Someone else already told you that. Additive percentages means you add a percentage based on the base value of the stat, not the implied value, which is what I've been saying. Youre making sales comparisons, when that isnt equivalent. Not even close. You aren't getting a discounted deal for something. You are running a perk in a video game. If you know how the math works, then this is a nonissue.
You're being stubborn, and you clearly didnt want a dialogue on the topic. Don't reply to me any further, because I don't want to lose my own time trying to comprehend why youre making such a simple mistake, and trying to claim yourself as logical. This is the farthest from logic I've ever seen an argument stray.
I dont have words for you people. You simply cant comprehend what I am saying so either read what I said previously or dont.

You're still blatantly disregarding the point I already made. The math is all done at once, not in segments. Meaning they do not change the value of those 10 apples.
Your example is exactly how one can tell you arent paying attention.
If you start with ten apples, and someone offers you five, while someone else wants to buy all ten you currently possess, you will still be left with five apples.
You keep saying you understand the math, but you clearly dont because its been shown to you multiple times, and yet you refuse to acknowledge it. Its not an issue of descriptions, its an issue of needing to admit youre in the wrong.
You are blatantly disregarding what I have been saying the entire time. I dont care how its added up in the game. In game its added up by taking away 100 then adding back 50 but instantly.
In real life if sometime is 100 off aka price reduced to 0. You cant just increase that price back to 100% from 0 by multiplying.
Therefore description is inaccurate because it only reduces grunting to 0 if the opposite effect isnt applied.

Thats a logical fallacy. You are rejecting Stridor from the equation, because Iron Will says 100% reduction.
For there to be a percentage, there must be a value. 100% of 150% is still just the 100%, which would leave you with 50%. The reason for this is because we are talking strictly in percentages, and because neither effect changes the base value.
Yes, Iron Will does say it will reduce noise from grunts of pain by 100%, but when you have 150% to rid yourself of, you still have 50% after dropping 100%.
The reason we keep making these comments and saying, relatively, the same thing, is because the argument made in the original post is both a non-issue, and a false equivalency. It is a non-issue because they "understand how the math works", according to other posts in this thread, which means that they know there's nothing wrong. It is a false equivalence because you are trying to equate 100% to 150%.
If you have 10 apples and the amount of apples get reduced by 100% how many apples do you have? 0 increase that number by any percentage it will remain 0.
If you have 10 apples and the amount of apples is increased by 50% how many apples do you have? 15, now reduce the amount of apples by 100% how many apples do you have? 0
I hope you understand that everybody understands how those percentages work in game. It's the description.
Cheers.

Balanced Landing has been the way it has been for a long time, I don't see why all of a sudden it's a huge problem. I figure that's "meeting half way" anyways.
What I dont understand is why stagger wasnt a problem in 2.0.0 and its suddenly a problem now...
Haddonfield was already out by that point. Not to mention stagger was the only thing that made BL good, before that it was horrible.

Ik and I mentioned it before somewhere in this post. Then again if you dont need to camp as bubba then there is no need for this perk to exist
-
@CandyBard said:
The argument that you cant draw something from nothing is moot. Ill try to put it differently than everyone else has, so that it registers in your head, but you're not grasping the situation.
Iron will reducing noise by 100% does reduce the noise by 100%. However the noise has a set value, X. Taking away 100% of X does not change the value of X. Which is why Stridor is able to reactivate sounds--- it increases noise by 50% of X.
X-X+0.5X=0.5X
X+0.5X-X =0.5X
The set value is not a percentile. It is simply easier to calculate the total noise by % of X remaining, because in doing so, they remove any cause or need for argument. Iron will doesnt mute the survivor, it "Reduces noise by 100%". If they wrote that it muted survivor, then there would be an issue, but they didn't.
Again the whole discussion is not about how it is applied in game which you did.
In real life when you hear sometime is 100% off that means it's free. That's it there nothing else to it everybody knows its you add the values. But the description implies that you will always be silent because it reduces noise by 100% logically (not in game) that means it doesnt matter how much you increase it at the end the noise will be 0 because you will reduce whatever number you have by 100%.

@PigNRun said:
Leaving aside all the angry baby comment from certain stubborn people who shall not be named... cough
I have one question to ask. Why do you assume in the first place Iron Will applies first? Is there a text somewhere in-game that says "Survivor effects will be calculated first, followed by Killers'"? When the base of your argument is wrong, anything you draw from it is wrong.
Its not inconsistent to think that two perks that do the same modify the same value, and then the result of the sum between the two is what REALLY happens during the match. Say Stridor increases grunts of pain noises by 500 points (a completely arbitrary unit), and Iron Will decreases it by 250 points. The sum of that is 250 points in sounds, and that is the value.
Thats how it works, and its not misleading at all. Its not inconsistent just because a stubborn minority never learned how numbers work.
Because again... we are talking about percentages...
It's not 500 and then 250 points...
I made apple example already. It doesnt matter which way you apply it based on how it sounds. It should reduce 100% of grunts.

What I love about this situation is that they either will have to rework the perk in 3 weeks or release it and then rework it afterwards both scenarios are equally bad

Yes, it's better -- if you get a spot to use it.
Most of the time you won't have a spot to use it.
Is the benefit worth it if you can only use it in one section of a map, where that section may be just a hill? Is that benefit worth it, compared to being able to use any of the other exhaustion perks, wherever and whenever you need to use it?
I don't think so.
The effect of a perk isn't everything. How strict it is and the availability of it is a huge factor to consider. If it wasn't a factor, MoM would still be S tier.
Again as someone mentioned but deleted their comment. Stagger wasnt added until 2.0.0 until that point BL was the worst exhaustion perk. I think devs forgot about it.
-
I will point out that you didnt waste $70. If you payed $70 for the game and dlcs and then played the game for one hour then coming to that conclusion would be understandable. But you enjoyed the game to certain extent for years.
So in the end you probably didnt waste even a single dollar. If you find that you are not enjoying the game. Take a break and mahbe come back in x amount of time to check if you still feel the same.
Cheers

So it's in the shrine and I really want this perk because of the changes coming to it, for obvious reasons. But I am hesitant to get this perk because I got Dark Devotion specifically for Legion and now that doesn't work with them...yay. So I don't want to get Beast of Prey and have it end up being the same scenario.
Is Beast of Prey going to be changed or is this the new version of the perk?
The answer should be obvious but I am not so sure it is as these changes were made and the strategies that come with it should have been foreseen so you never know, maybe the change will stay and maybe Legion will be great again but I don't see either of those things happening.
Just save up for huntress and get the perks. You will pay 2k huntress will cost you 9k. If huntress isnt free already. Lvl huntress up in any case would be better.

If you can't use BL on a map prior to the nerf then the nerf doesn't really change that does it? Having maps with zero vertical aspects is a separate problem.
Yes but at the same time before it was a gamble you can get map with alot spots where you can use it or none. Now it's you can use it once regardless of the the possibility to use it. Basically high risk low reward. I am not arguing if the change is fair or not I am just saying there should always be at least one place where you can use it. Even lithe on the game map has 3 places where you can use it.

I'm really dumbfounded how people consider gutting any on hit builds entirely and reducing your stall potential by decreasing the mend timer but instead you get 0.2 movement speed more and a better vault (which automatically stops you in place after vaulting so that speed buff is less than is less than it sounds) a buff. Not to mention they never bothered fixing Frank's and Stab wound study and he still has no power in chase.
You will love the new perk nemesis and beast of prey combo.

The intention of Exhaustion is to reduce the spam of certain perks.
Sometimes perk descriptions are ass. But my guess and reasoning for the nerf is that they want the entire perk to function under Exhaustion, or that they originally intended it to be functioning under Exhaustion but they never got around to changing the values.
Either way, its the exact same perk, except just don't use it while you're exhausted. It really doesn't change much except it makes Exhaustion actually mean more for the perk. Which I'm all for; it actually means you have to pay attention and not hold W.
I am fine with that but call it what it is... it's a nerf.
-
@Terratoast said:
There shouldn't be any perk that can exponentially extend a chase.
All other chase related perks are consumed for the chase when used (while fulfilling the proper conditions). BL in it's current form essentially gives the survivor a constant passive that changes their overall ability during a chase.
This means that the developers always need to make their maps while keeping two different states of survivor in mind. Those that have this passive and those that don't. All other chase perks may make certain loops/tiles extremely powerful but they can only do this once per chase (provided that they didn't get exhausted by something else). Then they can be treated like normal.
In the current state of maps quite alot of them has a chance to spawn ZERO (0) elevated spots that could be used to trigger BL.

Idk what planet are you living on but I never said that they are multiplicative. I am just saying that the description of the perk doesnt mention it like ever. That's it. Except his explanation is clearly wrong but you guys want to keep arguing you are right.
You are not increasing nothing by 50%. You are adding 50% to nothing. There is a huge difference.
And no where in the perk descriptions is it confusing at all. "Reduced by 100%" and "50% louder". It's pretty clear these are additive.
I use both Iron Will as a survivor main, and Stridor as a Spirit main. This concept was obvious to me from day 1. No where can you interpret these descriptions as "increasing nothing by 50%".
Cheers.

I mean what discussion is there to be had if you need to bring up your hours and state everything like it's a fact, seems like you're pretty set on several things.
Also you keep looking for a counter. Not sure why the counter isn't obvious to you. Her base form is fine to me so I don't think she needs changes to that, which means I don't think she needs any of the changes you suggested, it's that simple.
You bring nothing into this conversation. If I think X then I dont have to explain Y.
If everybody thought the way you do nothing would be changed. So they probably should bring back old Ds and give drop stagger as a base kit to survivors. They should probably revert most of the pallet needs since somebody most likely still thinks that there was nothing bad about them.

It's not even that a lot of them are stupidly hard....but why can't they all be active at once? If they were it would solve the problem of EVERYBODY trying to do one challenge and also not be as frustrating to complete them, the game would actually be you know .....a game. As opposed to people throwing for the sake of doing a challenge.
And i know the comments are gonna be "They just want you to spend money on the rift!" but I honestly would take less rewards for completing challenges if it meant actually enjoying doing them.
And lastly FORTNITE. People hate it im aware but that's what the battlepass is from, and that's how the challenges worked in that game and no one complained (they probably did) but they did it that way because it worked. Why take something from a game and then leave out an important aspect like that?
I just want the lore
If I remember correctly one dev said that you can still do challenges for lore after the event is over but you wont get fragments for it.
I also agree that all should be active at once. That's why survivor queues are long now (for me at least)

Not really sure what to say other than keep practicing juking Spirits and maybe even play as Spirit, it'll help you understand the Spirit's mindset so you understand what will throw a Spirit off in a chase.
Also, keep in mind, she's one of the hardest killers to play against while in a chase, because she forces you to play differently from most other killers who you loop normally, so it's never going to be easy if the Spirit player is good.
As for why it's not a good idea, I just don't think base Spirit needs to be touched anymore. Base Spirit to me is fine with the no collision change since bad Spirit players won't be rewarded with a free hit anymore.
Her add-ons to me have been the most problematic because in her base form she's a very strong killer and with add-ons she feels too strong. They did address this, but I still feel like her add-ons are too good for the strength of her base form, however, I feel this way about many killers yet their add-ons were never touched so I'm pretty sure this is just how it's meant to be.
I dont want to be a d i c k but I have 1300 hours in this game I play both sides. I know how to play spirit and I know she is bullshit the way she is. Believe me or not I dont doesnt really matter.
She is not that hard to play. Nurse is hard. Spirit is hard if you are deaf.
The only problematic addons were her ultras.
You didnt do one thing I specifically asked you to do. Which just shows me that you cant come up with anything reasonable to counter my 3 points.

I'm a Pig main, but I make a point of cycling through the roster in low-mid rank games. I thoroughly enjoy playing Leatherface with Hangman's and Devour, even if the 5-stack is rare sometimes. Plenty of LF peeps aren't pricks, but his ability does lend itself to the sorry practice.
Then there is no reason not to remove it? Or at least it should be changed to; while you are in 16 meter radius of hooked survivor, perk wont activate.

I feel like I am stupid. My point is insidious 99% time is used to camp. 99% the killer they use insidious with is bubba. Remove this garbage of a perk from game. Would it change anything if bubba didnt have insidious on? Probably nothing would be different which makes that perk useless in that sense.

This is a very good change, and really helps balance the perk out compared to the other exhaustion perks.
Let's be honest it's not really fair. It's so much easier to use any other exhaustion perk. As I said above there are some maps that can spawn without a hill or any elevated spots aka you cant use that exhaustion. So in short I am fine with the change as long as they add at least ONE (1) guaranteed elevated spot to every map.

Yes. I know. The next person to say this is getting reported for trolling/ spamming. Not to be hostile, but this is genuine trolling at this point, and there's no excuse for it. Honestly this thread should already be locked based on how far it's being derailed.
I've explained in this thread many times, both in the first post and in several replies, that I know how it works, BUT the reality is that the description of the perk and the reality of how the perks interact are entirely contradictory. I am making two suggestions here: change the wording of the perk descriptions, or change how the perks interact.
Iron will, in the description of the perk, says that it entirely mutes the cries of an injured survivor. Deletes. Removes. Disables. Eliminates. Erases. Discards. No longer is existence. I'm using every phrase I can find in the Thesaurus to remove any doubt beyond this point.
Stridor, based on the description of the perk, amplifies all survivor's breathing, and their cries of pain. You cannot amplify a sound that does not exist.
Again, to be as clear and concise as possible, I understand that the game treats these percentages additive, BUT, the description of the perks are inaccurate as to how they actually work in-game.
I agree with you, but sometimes I feel like a quacking idiot while I try to convince people that for example insidious is horrible and they act as if it's the most balanced perk in the game. Lol.
-
@Bleediss said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/851196#Comment_851196
If they're running Stridor, again, be unpredictable and use LOS to your advantage, this is the key to countering Spirit.
If they make a bad read then they have to wait for their power to come back, which if they use all of their power, that's 15 seconds, which is a long time where she's only 110% movement speed chasing you.
As for Father's Glasses, my best guess is that running back on your blood might work? I say that because the same can be said for scratch marks, but the blood may be highlighted differently.
Again that's all fine if you are healthy. If you are hurt you are royally ######### if they have stridor. Or if you dont have iron will.
Also they can use 1 second worth of their power too and then use whole phase a second later.... see where I am going with it.
As I said to one of the other guys. Could you look at my 3 points and tell me why it's not a good idea for them to be implemented.

It's not the noise reduction that i'm worried about. It's that you don't get the stagger reduction, which in my opinion, is the actual perk, when exhausted.
Removing the sprint and always having the stagger reduction in my opinion would still make this perk viable, instead of completely making it useless when exhausted.
Ik I would prefer it too tbh. My problem with the new BL is that you are not guaranteed an elevated spot on certain maps

Why can't this perk just have a single function such as perks like Iron Will?
This would still be a nerf to the perk but would still actually be useful.

It applies both percentages at the same time; therefore it has to be additive; neither perk is prioritised over the other, as that would be unfair/unbalanced and render the other pointless in a matchup.
Well technically stridor renders iron will useless especially on spirit.

I want this punishment for Gen-rushing: Every 25% mark (25%/50%/75/99), if a Generator was not the target of a failed skillcheck within it's bracket (0-25%, 26-50%, 51-75%, 76-99%); it automatically fails a skillcheck. This would force, at minimum, 4 fails on each generator & give a Killer a chance to find Survivors!
I mean, if we're punishing Killers for playing to win, we may as well punish Survivors for playing to win. Both ideas are terrible, but hey! Who cares, so long as you force people to play only in ways you approve, right?
Dude I made a post with an idea in which one person had to die in order for the game to continue (after 4th gen if 4 people are alive one has to either sacrifice themself in an alter or die on hook in the meanwhile gens are blocked) because I know gen rushing is a thing.
So dont act high and might because you think that I am living in a survivor bubble and I want everything nerfed.
Anything else you want to add?

Yes you can be unpredictable.
She stands still to see your movement, she still doesn't know what you do when she starts phasing unless you give her a tell of what you're doing.
If she stands still at a pallet, go one direction, she'll start phasing, go a completely different direction, or even stand still and she can mindgame herself.
You can even wait at the pallet and if she waits then she's wasting time on you, you still have options for when you think she's going to start phasing.
You can be unpredictable while injured, Iron Will is very important for this, though, if you aren't running Iron Will then I find utilizing windows helps a lot as I've juked many Spirits by playing around windows.
If she's running Father's Glasses then I'm not sure the best way to counter this add-on as I very rarely use add-ons on Spirit and I've faced this add-on maybe twice.
I run iron will, but as I said if they run stridor which in my case happens 90% of the time. Then my iron will helps the killer not me. If you are in the open for whatever reason I am not saying you should be save in the open and they can hear you moan you are #########. Even if you are on the pallet and drop it to confuse the killer and let's say it works. She can phase again in no time. That's why I came with the ideas above. I am not trying to nerf her to the ground. I play killer too. But as it stands new nerfs only help you stay healthy.
Father glasses is awful. Because you cant predict them having it and any attempt to juke is a fail and you have no idea how she knows until the end.
