My only big concern is that the bleed out bar is transparent. It’s hard to see, and needs to be bright so that it’s easily distinguishable.
-
...to play their own game.

Made up story by a jerk DC’r.
The killer downed me, and it was obviously unfair because I’m SOOOOO amazing, so I DC’d to screw everyone. Totally awesome right?

Opinions vary, i think stealth is what makes the game fun in the first place. Juking the killer during a chase, not being found while you stay around the gen you worked on, wasting the killers time searching for you, i think its thrilling.
Where’s Sam Fisher as a playable character when you need em, ammiright?

Mind games.
You have to get in her head.
I find that chaotic pathing helps confuse, but then you have to throw in predictable pathing, and ultimately trick her so that you can make distance. LOS is big, but it’s not everything. It’s just one piece of the puzzle. Don’t do the same thing twice in a row, but then do the same thing three times in a row. She’s reading you, but the biggest piece of the puzzle I’ve found is that you have to read her. Just like you have a play style, so does she. It’s a little different with each one you encounter. If you play only for breaking LOS, that is a pattern that helps nurse predict where to blink to, remember that. Make her think you are playing LOS, then make an immersive play.
Hope anything there helps.

Nope; I gotta be me. Sweaty all the way. I'll see you in the fog.

I'm old enough to know empty threats just make us laugh, and that only children bother making them. :)
You need to quit taking this so seriously. This whole thing is one big joke. Maybe play some less sweaty matches for awhile.

I'm sure everyone is quaking in their not-so-stylish shoes. Really? How old are you?
You are playing a video game and using how old are you as an insult. SMH.

Don't make excuses for the toxic survivor community.
I have never seen this in another game. When I play survivor and get tunneled or camped, I move on.
I must have 500 such threads only for this game. Since I play more than Dbd on Xbox, I can't just turn off chat.
I’ve literally seen it in every multiplayer game I’ve ever played. It’s just the way things are, and people won’t change.
-
Auto grind would be nice. They could just have a page where you select and deselect the items you want and don’t want, and then turn auto to “on”.
-
Have you tried playing emmersive? That is the solution to every problem in dead by daylight.
-
Sorry, but the devs shouldn’t Taylor gameplay to people who can’t hit the same button repeatedly for a minute.
If we use this kind of nonsensical logic, then they should just make movies with no buttons, and we can all pretend to play.
-
Women’s bodies have physics and aren’t in static non-moving hypersleep. Get real already. If you can’t handle the reality of boobs moving when women run, then don’t come out of your house and shut your tv off.

Maybe 2 killers and 30 survivors since looping is out.

But there has been a major killer shortage for a long time, everyone knows that.
Correct, up until about a week ago when the patch dropped and so did the survivor population because the gameplay experience is so abysmal.
Yes... I think we agree. This is all part of a master plot by BHAVIOR to turn all the player base into homicidal maniacs.

Because there clearly aren't enough people playing killer, hence why my survivor queues have been instant all week.
Mine fluctuate depending on the time of day. Evenings take forever to get a match. 5-7 minutes. Late at night 11-3 they are pretty much instant. Kind of opposite of what everyone else describes. But there has been a major killer shortage for a long time, everyone knows that.

Yeah!! Let's make BHVR fix the game by being dicks to other players and ruining their experience so they can complain about what I've been complaining about except this time I'm the problem!!
I'm so smart!!!
You don’t think this was part of their mastermind plan to get more people playing killer?

Cant wait for 4 man escape against you all the time since you are so emotional. To play killer efficiently you need a cool head.
I’ve had a couple, but in 50 matches, only 1-2 four man escapes for a relatively new killer isn’t bad. I’m already learning so much about the cheap add-ins that killer’s get to use all the time.

I disagree on a fundamental level. The game is made so that time constraints are placed on the killer, having to rush the game and progress quickly, with using strats that are usually see as cheap such as slugging and tunneling. The red ranks usually know this (ofc there will be new red ranks that don't but MOST red ranks are experienced and can loop/ prioritise correctly.) This makes an already slightly survivor sided game that bit more difficult. Most killers are sub par, and most need decent perks/killers to be able to win. It's not easy, it's more difficult than survivor. This is fundamentally true and I'd like to see you say otherwise.
I still think that even with minimal experience as I have, killer is way easier than survivor. I haven’t taken any killer to red ranks yet, but as a red rank survivor main, all my knowledge of what killers do to beat me transfers over. So far I average 3-4 kills with a double-pip, and I don’t use cheap tactics or tunnel. I occasionally slug someone to slow survivor progress, but that is legitimate, not like I slug the whole team or anything. I can see how your average killer would be as dumb as your average survivor, all I play is solo queue, and believe me, there are a lot of them. What I find so far is that maybe one out of ten teams actually does gens. The rest of the teams have 1-2 decent survivors trying to do objectives, and then 2 idiots that don’t do anything. It really is easy to beat survivors when they are this dumb.

Oh yeah, I cant wait for the survivor main to start playing killer and realize that... sh!t, it's pretty hard and survivors are dicks.
I’ve played enough killer to know that it’s pretty easy until you are playing red ranks.

Hi there
I'm actually a bit nervous to post this, but I'll try anyways.
I just bought this game for PS4. A friend showed it to me and it seemed like something I'd really like so I thought I'd give it a go. I'm trying to play Spirit, but of course I'm not that good at it yet. Some maps are easier for me than others. Sometimes I struggle a bit with the first person view, but I was having fun trying.
I find the matchmaking system very confusing. When I'm matched with people at my low rank, I fare ok because we're all new and figuring things out. But for some reason, every second game when I look at the post-match ranks, I've been playing with people in green or purple ranks which are far above me (lvl 19). Thing is, I don't really care if I don't get kills at this point b/c I'm just derping around trying to learn.
But whenever I face these higher ranks, I've started getting really unpleasant messages afterwards. Basically making fun of how bad I am at the game. It's shocking to me, because you'd think they could see from my rank that I'm new. As well, it's a pain in the ass to type out messages on the PS4. Why would anyone even go to such trouble to do this? The first message or two I just blocked them. A third one I actually asked this person what possesses them to send nasty messages to new players, and he replied; "lmao I only send them to people on PS4" (what? Why? Am I missing something?).
I've had a difficult year, and I just wanted a game I could immerse myself in to distract me from real life crap. The messages are starting to turn me off the game entirely and I've only tried playing this Killer for 2 days. I find I'm hesitating even trying today because I don't want to deal it.
I guess I wanted some advice from DBD veterans. Is it the culture of this game to bully new players or something? Or else, is there a reason I'm being matched with people in much higher ranks? Maybe most importantly, is there anyway I can learn faster, maybe watching streams or something? I don't have enough friends playing the game to practice in a chill environment either.
I think I just want to decide whether it's worth it to continue or if it's just going to cause me a headache or put me in a bad mood lol.
Thanks for any help in advance. I'm halfway wondering if I'll get toxic messages here too though lol.Guess I'll find out :D
So... number one, grow a thicker skin.
Number two, if you can’t, then set your messaging options on the PS4 to only allow messages from friends.
-
I would say it used to be worse, but it also has a lot to do with what ranks you play against. The lower skilled killers use techniques like that on lower skilled survivors. Those killers rarely make it into higher ranks because you lose matches when you attempt those strategies. Higher ranking killers have to apply major map pressure to win, and you can’t tunnel and camp while applying map pressure.
So yeah, it was worse, but I wouldn’t say it was insanely worse. But lower tier matches are still horrible about that. A survivor has to dig deep and fight their way out of low ranks in order to get away from it.

a year is not a measurement of distance good sir
It is when you involve light, and this is dead by dayLIGHT, so it’s clearly a scientific term.
10 DBDaylight years away!!

This isn’t a problem that needs fixing. If you can’t beat spirit at this mind game, you need to improve your skills as a survivor.

Meh, I wouldn't say looping is impossible now. I've had some nice runs. I would like to know where I can post my input at though. I'd like them to know what I enjoy about it and what I don't. If anyone knows where I can find that I appreciate it.
Supposedly it’s in the feedback section, but I posted about the bleed out bars being too hard to see despite having a 60” 4K tv, and they shut it down, so I don’t know.

You aren't smart enough to realize that if they buff solo queue near the level of SWF, they can buff many killers up and overall balance the game better.
I’m well aware of the fact that they can ruin solo queue.
What you fail to see is that if they do this, and then buff all the killers to offset it, anyone who doesn’t want to run mics is screwed.
like I said, it breaks solo queue

Why would it need to be within a certain range? it is just a message that will pop up above the player's icon with a cool down so it can't be spammed. It just makes it easier for people who arent on a VC
Same answer I gave the other guy. A chat option turns the game into modified swf. Which is garbage, and ruins the whole point of the game for anyone like me that plays solo queue.
I have no problem with a player I can see proxy-text-chatting me that the killer is coming or asking for help.
I don’t want a player on the opposite side of the map telling me what they or the killer are doing. That is a totally lame game called swf. It removes the challenge survivors have in SQ.

Why not general? That would be the same as every swf.
Exactly. When or if this game becomes swf all the time, I’m done with it. Swf is not fun at all for killer’s or survivors. It makes the game way too easy.
-
This would be good if it was range based. If it is just in general, absolutely not. But if you have the option when you are within 5-7 meters, I’d be good with that. Keep it super limited with basic options like:
Do this gen
Distract the killer
Go for save
etc...
Definitely would have to be a proxy quick chat, no audio.
-
I’m not really having this problem
-
That’s why they call it solo queue.
it’s all up to you now.
-
I think I will give it about 50 matches before I decide. The old HUD took me awhile to get used to.
-
I don’t see how the survivors stand a chance since you can’t loop two killers. Without looping, it’s gg in about 5 minutes.
-
I love solo. I love the really good matches against rank 1 killers with a phenomenal squad, but I also like the challenge of carrying the team across the finish.
I get some of everything, but I tend to have a lot of good matches. Sometimes, escapes don’t happen for maybe 10 in a row, (usually when I’m starting to crash out) a lot of times an escape is 1 out of 4 matches, but sometimes it is every match for 10 matches. I’ve seen some unbelievable players in terms of skill, and also lack thereof.
I hate DC’rs, and there are plenty of those guys out there. I also hate DC’rs wh DC because of the first DC’r. Who is greater, the fool, or the fool who follows?
I love solo Q, that’s why I don’t cheat with swf.

I just had a Ghost Face game where a Felix brought a Haddonfield offering. He had Balanced Landing, Decisive Strike, Unbreakable and Borrowed Time. The game was painful but I managed to kill everyone.
The ending with the Felix was long Haddonfield chase into balanced landing into hook bomb with BT into slugging the Felix to get his BT save into his Unbreakable into another balanced landing Haddonfield chase.
The game was over. There was no way that Felix and his other teammate could escape. Why did he have to troll me for 3-4 minutes? Like just stop.
It’s called survivor and killer for a reason. Each has their own objective for a reason. I don’t ever surrender.
-
On a more serious note, walkie talkies? Is that a real idea, or satire? I can’t tell anymore. I’m totally down for the AK
-
I like it, but I think no scratch marks would be too hard for the killer, but perhaps they only last half as long?
I think terror radius’s should just be left up to the regular perk system. I don’t know though. You almost need a reduced size for sure.
But yeah, this is good thinking on your part!

I love when games end up with two or one escaping as both roles. Both parties had something to come out of their efforts and feels fair to me
This was the most fair feeling game I played all day. Not only did I get punished for making stupid decisions, but wraith got rewarded by the entity for being too compassionate early on. So he got smacked, and the entity killed two of us off for him since he couldn’t!
-
I’ve wondered about the walking dead or resident evil as a possibility, but the main threat in those is slow moving zombies. I know, RE has a bunch of humans that become crazy weird zombie human monster bosses, or they have super powers, but they aren’t scary killers. They don’t have scary killer background stories. Whoever the killer is needs a back story that fits the killer MO.
Someone like Dracula could work, but I don’t know if he’s got the right feel for this game. You know who I just thought of that might be cool is Scarecrow from Batman. But I doubt they could make hallucinations much better than the doctor’s so... to settle it all, it should be a werewolf killer, but what license?
-
I don’t play killer much, but I do survivor main. Those lunges that pig has can be deadly, but only if the pig is mind gaming you. You have to trick the pig into thinking that you will be in lunge range but then not be. A good pig player will figure your game out fairly quickly and stop lunging at you in chase and just try to m1 you instead.
For me, Freddy and legion are my grief killers, although I feel like I’m starting to understand legion a little better as I’ve focused on keeping major distance as much as possible. With Freddy, I can’t ever seem to be far enough through a window or over a pallet to escape his claws.
-
They’ve done a few maps with some weather, the one that has snow, and it seems like another has rain. I’m not a programmer, so I honestly don’t know what the difference is between that, and something like this. Is it different somehow?
-
Meanwhile, you couldn’t find them for 40 minutes...
-
I think a sci-fi killer would be cool. One with a device he can place that traps any survivor that is within a certain range of it for a certain period of time. Not like trapper and his traps, this would trigger once a survivor got within maybe 5-7 meters. The survivor could still move, and loop and stuff, but they would be trapped inside of this 5-7 meter trap for like 30 seconds. The killer could enter it of course to kill the survivor, but the survivor couldn’t leave.
Maybe the trap would spawn like 3 nodes around its perimeter that another survivor could break 2 of in order to release the trapped survivor. They already have the kick animation from kicking victor, so...
That said, I’m not sure what the right number of meters is for the size trap. Maybe 5-7 is too small. Maybe it should be more like 10.
Either way, a giant shield bubble sci-fi killer would be cool.
Killer name you ask? Trapper 3021
-
It would be nice if the devs would make a better reporting system that allows us to mention specific behavior in a game for other survivors. should be able to highlight with a check Mark system the things they did in game.
Intentional sandbagging
Working with killer
DC’ing
When a person’s account starts to show a pattern of abuse, then the devs can restrict their account for a day, and then a week, and then a month, and then permaban.
-
Body-blocking is a legitimate strategy. If you don’t like it, toughen up buttercup.
-
I don’t think any of those three items need fixing.
-
In all honesty, I think for a long time playing this game, Myers was the scariest to go against. It took me a long time to get to where I could go against him reasonably well. I think he is a really well balanced killer. Might need a few tweaks here and there, but overall, I think he instills fear in the low ranks, and is very competitive until some of the much more experienced players go against him.
