  • I only play Survivor nowadays, but my worst flaw is actually thinking the worst of people. Like, someone will be hooked and I’ll think “Oh, you won’t save me in return will you?” Sometimes I’m right in that reaction but other times I feel so bad for presuming such things. The community can be so lovely but sometimes it can be incredibly mean too.

  • Claudette looks reasonable. She isn’t super unbelievably unrealistically attractive but nor is she butt ugly. She’s average. And that’s okay.

  • Imo, if they’re doing it to increase the amount of time that you’re in the match it is no better than bodyblocking in some regards, in terms of trapping someone in a corner so they can’t do anything. Just let it be over and done with.

  • I don’t think killing yourself on hook is a thing that should be punished. Because you’re allowing the Killer to gain the normal amount of BP from your sacrifice and doesn’t prevent things such as BBQ stacks. Also, it could be done for reasons like disabling Dying Light.

  • I’d rather not have Voice chat, thanks. I already get enough abuse as a solo player.

  • Imo, as some have said before, it would be excellent PR. However, I doubt there will be any compensation given, especially when considering there was no compensation given to PS4 Players when Clown and the Store were delayed.

  • They are working, and game development is hard as hell. I could barely code a 2D mystery game, let alone being able to code a 3D game which is now implementing a new system for rewards.

They are Humans trying to fix stuff and make it playable for us. If it was a company like Rockstar the employees would be overworked to death. But BHVR treats their employees like Humans, and so should we. The event will be done when it’s done, not when a date comes around.

  • I miss Old Freddy. I actually preferred Old Freddy. New Freddy is just too much.

  • This is becoming so wholesome. It’s wonderful to see happening for once!

  • Will only Basegame/Free characters be receiving Rift items?

What, Survivors VS Killers? Unthinkable! What is this, a game that pitches two sides against one another? Pfft.

The base objectives are Killer VS Survivor. But additional objectives should not be pitting the two sides against one another. I like the Halloween event because survivors were able to do an additional objective that couldn’t be destroyed by the killer. The Lanterns encourage survivors to be selfish which isn’t always a good thing...

Actually, killers still get helpers. I personally helped a killer complete his dailies and he helped me get the Coins. Incidentally we played together twice in a row and I aided him by letting myself be hooked and all sorts.
So you lead them to each survivor and hooked them all 3 times then he let you escape?

Its not possible for you too both leave with full points, unlike past events.
Well, no. The first game we played normally, given we knew nothing of each other. But for some reason he spared me. The second game we avoided each other but I would unhook people before they reached Stage 2. Eventually all that was left was me and Nea letting him hook us.

Play killer and tell me how many points you make per match.
Now compare that to what you make as survivor.

Btw, only 1 survivor needs to escape with the lantern.

Played Killer. Got all 4 lanterns they had spawned in and hooked each survivor three times. I’m no pushover when it comes to killer, but even so it still seems to be a double standard, as killers complain when survivors destroy event-based hooks and yet destroying the Survivor event objective is totally fine?

The difference between them is that survivors don't get points for destroying the hooks. They did that just because they didn't want killers to earn points. I mean you can say that they were trying to save teammates but we all know the intention behind it.

Now, killers destroy the survivors' objective because they share the same objective, not because killers don't want survivors to get a lantern and earn event points.

These 2 situations are totally different.

Okay. I can see your point. You’ve explained it well but still... it seems agitating, to have the only two in the map be destroyed and being unable to get them because you tried playing the game normally. I sabotaged an event hook (the summer hook) as a Billy has made a 3 gem strat work and I tried to save the other Claudette alive. It worked but the Killer went after me, hooked me and kept smacking me, after which he spammed with messages of “Toxic survivor, why u destroy hook. U get camped because u destroy specail hook”. Due to every hook being counted towards the event there won’t be any of that, but the entire idea of having one sides’ objectives be destroyed by the other is an idea I dislike immensely. It creates a heavy hostility between the two sides that I’d rather avoid in the current climate the community seems to be in.

Mhm. Hoping my girl Claudette gets a good one soon.
  • I just play survivor because I like survivor... if the killers switching to survivor so easily are doing it just for the event I don’t want to face them as Killer regardless. It sounds like they wouldn’t dedicate themselves to being an actual challenge as a killer.

What does that perk even do?

I edited my post because I didn’t want to discuss that perk, can you delete your quote please?
Why though? Some of us don’t go looking for obscure perks and simply are interested because, for some like me, wouldn’t be able to access those files anyway due to the fact that we’re console players.
  • I am the sixth G A Y person to come in and say they love Feng’s outfit. Also love Huntress’, though I’ll be unlocking Feng’s first because I’m a survivor main. Will definitely unlock Huntress’ second in between RDR2 grinding but, aside from that? Ace may not be getting a new outfit this patch from me XD

The idea behind perks is to get a varied play style...

Exactly, which is why a perk that is for so many people part of their basic need of making the game enjoyable, should be part of their base-kit. Could've prevented all the awkwardness with older versions off BT and could've prevented the entire Mending mechanic. (:

If they make it base, alter it so that you cannot heal whilst in a chase, and can only heal after 15 seconds of being out of a chase.

thats meg you are talking about

Look at Giddawid’s post, “from left to right”. And the first person to the left is the white girl with the glasses.

  • Rank 5 Survivor and Rank 10 Killer (I haven’t played a lot of Killer since reaching Rank 1 last season, I’ve just been grinding to P3 the Spirit) and Survivor queue times seem to be equated to how bad a killer’s ping is. I tend to join games within 2 minutes, at most, for Killers that have >200 ping. But if I wait 5+ minutes the Killer tends to have bad ping. Then again I have waited for 10+ minutes just to be lobby dodged...

I presumed you were addressing me. But it’s okay. I do not agree with a squad being an example of balance: the Devs have been trying to design the game around solo survival, not having vocal communication and organisation. SWF’s concept was added out of demand for it and has been said multiple times to not be in the game’s original design, and so comparing the power of an organised group to a singular person is not valid, in my eyes. The four, if they are communicating and know what they’re doing, will always be a more powerful force than the singular person. In solo survival the only way such teamwork could be established would be through natural leadership, through the survivors analysing perks and situations (like noticing someone had Prove Thyself) they face. Good survivors will beat bad killers, good killers will stomp bad survivors. But a good group, an already composed and communicating group, will always beat the good killers. It is only when all four survivors are solo when the true powers of killers are revealed.

Do you know that 70% of the matches include Survive with Friends?

Now that you know this, do you think it's better to balance the game around a minority and therefore have 70% of all matches rigged and in favour of Survivors?

Or do you think it would be better to balance the game around the majority and therefore have only 30% of all matches rigged and in favour of the Killer?

Keep in mind that the 30% at a disadvantage have a choice, they can always invite friends to play in a SWF while the Killers have no way to consistently avoid the 70% of rigged matches. Plus if they had a way to do so, it would lead to ~70% less matches because not many Killers would want to play rigged matches.

Actually... matches should never be in anyone’s favour. This is a PvP game after all. But to blame or punish solo survivors for the actions of grouped survivors, even if solos are the minority, is wrong. Especially given the original design for the game was for each survivor to essentially be solo, to not know if they can trust their teammates. If we were to balance the game around SWF the core design of the game is thrown out of the window and solo survivors are weakened for no fault of their own. Some people are more terrified on their own and so play on their own. Others have no one to play the game with. To force someone to group up just because of people they do not associate with is silly.

With perks Tru3 is incredibly consistent in being seen as a great killer main who doesn’t camp and use other tactics that are deemed as unsportsmanlike. But you can’t look at this and go ”Oh yeah, killers are underpowered with no add-ons/perks!”

Of course they’re underpowered without add-ons or perks! That’s why perks and add-ons exist. Not only to give variety but to power them up! Of course Tru3 was gen rushed as he didn’t power himself with perks. But again, this was a challenge he willingly handicapped himself to try and beat, like beating Dark Souls at Level 1. He couldn’t beat the challenge... and it’s fine. I know assuredly he’ll do excellent once he returns to normal gameplay. If he is still easily beaten when playing optimally in terms of build, gameplay or etc... then we can have a discussion thread where we can validly say the side he played was underpowered.

They balance around rank 1. But around the boosted rank 1's lol.
So stupid. Whenever you show those crap people come with argument "but not everyone plays like this"
Yet they don't understand that it doesn't matter if 1% or 99% play like this. Balancing doesn't work around how players usually play.
What's your opinion about the match @Tsulan? Did you noticed any major mistakes made here or not like me?
He doubted about picking up the obsession. He probably thought about slugging. No big mistake there.
He could have let claudette on the floor instead of killing her, trying to lure someone out. But that's risky without deerstalker or nurses calling. Especially since he didn't knew where the hatch was.
He chose the save 2k instead of risking getting only a 1k.

Nurse doesn't need addons or perks as much as other killers. So there wouldn't have been much of a difference anyway.
If survivors want to gen rush, there is no stopping them. No killer can chase 4 people at the same time.
You are missing one point: Marth88's depip squad was perkless and addonless aswell. The difference: they didn't call it challenge cuz it was still ez to stomp nearly every killer.
These two sides just confirm how unbalanced it is. Period.
Not missing anything. I know that it's easy to reach rank 1 survivor without perks.
Something got messed up with quoting. I wasn't quoting you but someone else. Sorry for the confusion. I edited it so it should be correct now. Take a look so you know to what I was referring

  • Well, how ‘bout this. Unless they removed the feature to see others’ healing speeds increase then Leader does not work. I had a Nea healing me and it felt incredibly slow and was a grey bar. I know what a 25% percent in healing looks like, given I used to use Botany pre-buff, but the speed it took was the standard time. By the way there was nothing to slow it down, so no Thanatophobia or Coulrophobia or whatever.
  • If I was to ask for representation the character would end up:

    - Gay
    - Anti-social based perks
    - Wears suits
    - Is a small skinny white boy

Representation in games is really easy to pull off, given they model characters themselves. Though does their ethnicity have to be shown explicitly? Because if the character falls into stereotypes then the game could be labelled racist. Like if they dressed both Claudette and Adam into thug-like attire or gave them perks only sorted around stealing, things being what black people are stereotyped as today. Or maybe one of the Asian characters being characterised as only being intelligent. Hell, I think Feng Min is a great example of representation given that she is an Asian female gamer, a massive taboo that has been sparked up in debates as of late with fake girl streamers and such. But Feng Min being a gamer, and Asian, are just things about her. She is depicted in a way that suggests she could easily exist in real life. If you wish to represent a minority that is the best way to do it: make a character just so happen to be a thing and not have that character be a thing character.

Like with Soldier 76. He isn’t a gay character. He is just a character that just so happens to be gay. In real life gay people don’t define themselves as just being gay: this rule should extend to all other minorities. Just because they have different skin or orientations doesn’t make them solely those differences.
  • I do not want lobby dodging to be punished. You’re in the lobby. If they leave pre-five second countdown then they may simply not like circumstances such as poor connections, unstable connections. As someone who lives in a newly built home where better, fibre-based connections haven’t been established yet I sympathise with those sorts. However, if those people leave after the five second countdown has begun I see no reason for empathy, given they’ve now given the others a mandatory impairment. But how can we separate genuine cases of disconnection from intentional leaving? We can’t. So introducing a punishment mechanic would only be harmful until we discover ways of monitoring such behaviour, like seeing at what point the servers lose connection to the survivor or killer.
  • I’d either do my best to help the survivors or just become a killer. I don’t know. Your reactions to real life scenarios are instinct and so foresight is useless to predict what you may do, given how your emotions may affect your actions when you are in the scenario.
  • Hm. Since I don’t have a fibre-based connection I won’t know what has changed for another 50-70 minutes.
  • S - F, varies on player: survivors. Just had a farming David and an unsympathetic Huntress. Not a good combo... Was farmed, bodyblocked and generally sandbagged by a P3 Claudette. I am genuinely hating solos.

But in sincere matters, I think the Spirit is S Tier with the Beads. Clown is S Tier if the survivors have a genuine phobia against clowns (I do, my hands shake and I get cold sweats when I see him) but in terms of in-game non biased gameplay I’d say B Tier, given his ability to weaken the one survivor defense; looping.

In my opinion the Killer is only made stronger by add-ons. Each Killer has their potential in terms of add-on combos and the variety of ways they think of to play about against the survivors.
  • P3 Claudette-

I’m kidding. Her entire Urban set is my favourite, especially if you give her the purple dyed schoolgirl hair and a pink top with the nice shorts.

For Nea it’s her Urban trousers and hair. Though I finalise the outfit with the Grim Matsuri (I think that is what it’s called) set torso piece. It adds details to her and oddly matches in colour to her trousers.
  • Nah. It might look like it, though.

I mean i got into a trial and I was rubber banding like hell. I couldn't escape.
I got hooked, and no one was coming to save me, so I tried to Kobe, then the lag messed up my struggle.
Got accused of rage quitting, but it was not the case.
That sort of thing happened to me. I had played decently (two gens left, hooked after a minute or so of being chased) and I saw the others were focusing on gens. On the last few seconds I tried to self unhook and went into struggle phase... Despite hitting the button as fast as I could and at the same pace for 10 seconds it didn’t count the button presses after that and I died. It’s odd, but I severely wonder if it’ll improve with dedicated servers, not to mention how much it’ll mess up the killer experience for people like me.
  • Yeah, I just went through the same thing, Prestiged my fav Killers and they are worse off now than they were before. I just have to keep spending until I literally get everything.

I want to do this. But only to have all of the Killer perks on Spirit. I intend to P3 her and get all of the Killer perks on her as I have with Claudette and Kate (all perks at their max tier) but I worry about how I’ll be gathering the points to do it.
  • I’ve only ever ragequit once as survivor: when a Legion would keep giving up chases just to catch me, a non-toxic Laurie Strode using DS only when it was most needed: when you’ve got no more chances, when he’s picking you up for your third hook.

As Killer? It’s been such a stressful experience I now refuse to play as anything else other than my main, Spirit. I only ever have fun playing Killer with her and I’ve never had fun games as any of the other killers.

I’m not ashamed of it. If I’m not having fun I do as I would with any other game: try having fun again and then stopping myself from playing it any further if the fun stops. Why force yourself to continue doing something you dislike or something that stresses you out?

Cosmetics should never provide an in-game advantage.

Sadly they already do. Nea’s brown shirt is pretty stealthy in cornfields and generally brown areas. And all P3s darken the characters quite a bit.
  • Although I have the game since September '17, I never bothered getting the adept achievements for killers, even though I have all the survivor ones. I've only recently started doing the killer ones.

So far I've gotten Michael, Freddy, Wraith, Trapper, Hag, Doctor, Hillbilly, Huntress and Leatherface. Freddy's was the hardest because he's so weak and his perks suck. I had to do a lot of camping and tunneling to get that one. I was not proud of it, but it was the only way with Freddy.

But I was getting gen rushed with all of them, except for Hag because she has ruin. It is frustrating. I feel your pain.

Oddly enough Freddy’s was super easy for me, though that may just be due to how rarely he’s played and, therefore, creating artificial difficulty through the fact that the survivors wouldn’t have remembered any counterplay.

Getting thrashed as killer? Getting tunneled as survivor? Getting camped? Flashlighted with every downed survivor? Just keep playing and move on, a DC won't do you or anyone else any good. :(

But then what happens when a fun time turns into a bad one? Where a game where you thought you had fun then causes stress? No one plans to have a bad day. I say there’s two types of rage quitters. The ones that DC because they simply can’t accept a loss and then there are those that become so stressed through a multitude of things that they have no say over (like a SWF communicating to sabo hooks right in front of the killers’ faces).

It is not healthy for some. Stress, for me, is detrimental due to my Diabetes and how stress increases the glucose produced in my liver, therefore able to make me ill.

If playing this game causes your stress levels to get to unhealthy levels, I believe even the developers would agree it might be in your best interest to play something else.

If this were the dbd e-sports championship and there was 3 million dollars on the line, it might be worth it.

But it's not. So it's not.

If I were to go and play something else the money that I have spent on Cosmetics and the game itself would become a waste. However, I dare say that it is indeed unhealthy: but I am being as productive as I would be stepping outside in England trying to catch a tan. I do try to have fun, I really do, but that now only happens for me when I face Nurses and Spirits, or play as Spirit or run into friendly survivors.

There aren’t enough relaxing games released nowadays anyway. PlayStation Home was something I’d always relax on before it shut down and most games nowadays have a money-grabbing online service. Like Red Dead Redemption 2: try fishing peacefully and you’ll be shot in the back of the head by some a-holes that don’t understand the word pacifism. If there were games I could go and play to relax I would. But none I’ve encountered allow for a social aspect within a relaxing setting.

Really!? For what it's worth, I play dbd for a while...then it becomes stressful and not worth my time, so I play other games and eventually come back.

Try playing coop versus ai games. Heroes of the Storm versus AI is my go to for brainless fun. Fun and easygoing at ANY level and there are so many characters for different play styles.

Warframe is AWESOME. I have played it in varying amounts for years. Never gets old and very fun/no pressure...so long as you over gear and find a good group (most are). You can play solo too.

Killing Floor 2 is fun, relaxing, brainless zombie fps fun too.

Dont flame me....but WoW is actually VERY easygoing nowadays, unless you hardcore PVp or end game raid...but anything entry or mid level is VERY easygoing.

Those are just a few of my go to games when I don't want sweaty palms and want a Netflix show playing in the background.

I am a Console Pheasant, my dear. Tried Heroes of the Storm... and kept destroying teams with my friend. I played Warframe for a while until I got Trinity Prime and Oberon (healers, which is my go-to role in any game) and then... I knew no one else who played it, so I never had anyone who actually wanted me to play the game with them. Killing Floor was fun but it became too repetitive and WoW, I’ve never touched.

I would most definitely enjoy this game more with friends. But when all of your friends move on to Fortnite and Red Dead Redemption is unplayable because every 20 seconds you’re back at the deceased screen again... it is disheartening.

Perhaps I should play Civilisation like Matthieu once recommended. I just feel disheartened to a point where all games are unappealing, and where I’d rather slide into threads and just talk. Hell, if that VR chat was on PS4 I would make my avatar a tiny anime girl and yell like a drunk fully grown Scottish man for the laughs.
  • Unless BHVR has released an official statement of “the forums are for constructive criticism only and the discussion of ideas of the mechanics of the game” I will continue to post my rants about the stress this game causes and multiple other ‘meaningless’ things like the gameplay advantages of cosmetics and so forth. Free Speech is a wonderful thing: it allows people to say whatever they want. Not_Queen and other mods have the full right to close any threads they deem unsuitable but aside from authority figures and a few select cases I do not think that complaints about other players should be prohibited, as long as it does not disregard codes of conduct and privacy policies.
  • I will be one of those “Event focused” survivors. I dislike all of the cosmetics she has right now so there is no way in Hell that I’ll give that outfit up. Unless, of course, Ace is a cutie in-game. Can’t wait to dress Nurse up though. Might give me some motivation to play her again, even though playing as her recently has caused me a lot of stress.
  • I have a group of maybe 10 people that i play with regularly on swf, were mostly between rank 1-8 and its almost always a 30+ minute wait to get in a match (sometimes an hour because we will get into a match and the killer will DC due to us being swf before game even starts -_-). I suppose its because its usually 3-4 of us at a time but we have so much fun and create hilarious collage videos of each other doing stupid things in matches. Plus playing with randoms is so frustrating because i end up getting farmed or left on the hook after only being hooked once.

Put on P2 or even P3 Claudette. You will be dodged so often you’d think that was the Killer’s objective.

  • The only time you should ever DC is when you have something in real life going on or you are stuck and the killer/survivors can't help you.

    End of story.

Rage quitting should never be something you do. Can't handle the game and the everything that comes with it? Don't play. I've never understood why people DC, just take it and move on to the next match.

Getting thrashed as killer? Getting tunneled as survivor? Getting camped? Flashlighted with every downed survivor? Just keep playing and move on, a DC won't do you or anyone else any good. :(

Honestly, (like it has been said a million times now) DC'ing should have harsher punishments.

Yes, it's been indeed said a million times, but I hope they do something more regarding this. Serious issue right now.

I’m quitting playing for a while. Games as Killer have made me physically nauseous and caused my eyelids to twitch due to stress... playing Killer seriously isn’t fun when DS using SWF squads sabo every hook you try to put someone on, using firecrackers and flashlights to save and not to mention that horrible DS is already giving me a headache.
  • Tbh? I’m tired of this game. Slowly it is draining every bit of motivation I have to play it.

I think I joined the same guy 5 times in a row and he kept lobby dodging (a shame too, he had a consistent green ping) and even now I’m getting lobby dodge after lobby dodge after 15+ minutes of waiting. I am genuinely upset by this...
  • Hm. I think Predator. Lightweight no longer has a direct counter. So if you’re running the new Predator and a survivor is running Lightweight the scratches are going to be all the more harder to track.

Feng's outfit looks amazing and the new event objective sounds cool!

sniff thank god we have another feng main

Feng is bae. Shes the only character I have all perks on. And one of 3 characters I have all cosmetics for. Though I made a new eyars resolution to never spend money on cosmetics anymore. Still have enough Cells for some content other than that I hope its earnable in the future for Feng.

See, I like Feng and her backstory. Could you, as a Feng Main, convince me to join your ranks? So far I have Claudette P3 with all perks, Kate P3 with nearly all perks, Nea P1, Meg 1/2 to P2 and P1 Spirit.
