Unique survivors. I'll never understand why they decided to make one side have unique characters with their own abilities and mechanics and the other side be just skins with no (functional) difference between them at all
-
Anyone else have no idea what's going on or is it just me
-
Maybe so but this seems like an indirect way to keep talking about the "springtrap in dbd" bs without doing it directly while maintaining the ability to deflect any criticism that inevitably arises as a result
I'll say what I say about any licensed character: I don't give a damn who they add as long as I like their ability and they in some way fit into the game. I have nothing against springtrap or whatever but maybe chill out or the people who don't already hate it will get annoyed and start hating it
-
The only reason I main killer:
Survivors are just skins and none of them are unique, you can play any survivor and have the exact same experience but with each different killer you have something different. If I get bored of a killer I can switch to a different one but if I get bored of survivor the best I can do is change the perks. It's honestly deeply depressing that they designed the game this way and I really wish they hadn't but they aren't going to change it now since they'd have to come up with like 20 different survivor powers and also rebalance all the killers and game mechanics around them. They could do it but they won't. That's the one thing that stops me from wanting to commit to this game more tbh. If survivors were unique like killers I'd be a survivor main to the core (but I'd still play killer some)
-
Pizza Dwight is the best stealth character since you can blend in with lockers
-
The bottom line is people who can communicate with each other have an advantage which was not intentionally built into the game nor was the game designed with this in mind (otherwise we wouldn't have so many perks and abilities and game mechanics that assume survivors can't communicate) and is something not all players have equal access to (requires friends who are willing and able to play with you and programs which allow you to communicate, none of which come with the game). This is also something killers have no equivalent of. Survivors who communicate literally have an unfair advantage and there's no combination of words in the English language anyone can put together to deny that fact. But I'll list some counterarguments anyways. I'm sure someone will come at me with something I didn't list but it doesn't really matter there's no legitimate way to justify or disregard the unfair advantage people get from communication.
People can say "but not all swf use comms" maybe so, but that doesn't mean none of them do. Some bombs are duds but I'm not going to grab one like a teddy bear just because it might not explode
People can say "but when I talk to my friends we mostly just goof around" and? there are plenty who do much more than goof around. Even so, any communication is an advantage you otherwise wouldn't have, and I say the same as the last point; just because you don't doesn't mean others don't
People can say "so you just want easy wins against uncoordinated solos?" well, I guess if you want to openly admit comms make people way better, go ahead
People can say "but it IS intended just look at this or this or this" no. It's not. It's absolutely not. I don't care what kind of discord crap you can point to or "X dev used comms while doing X" or whatever else. If communication was intended we wouldn't have so many things built around the idea that survivors can't communicate. And I dunno maybe there'd be some kind of communication in the game? Basically it's either assume communication is not intended OR assume numerous perks, a few powers, and some other game mechanics were intended to be ######### and borderline useless/irrelevant, AND that people are supposed to download programs unaffiliated with the game AND that people on Switch and wherever else that don't have access to it can get shafted. I'm going with the former because that makes more sense and I still have a little bit of faith left in the developers
I wish they'd just do what Identity V does. Basically they have predetermined messages you can say next to your status icon like "help me" or "I'm coming" or "I'm being chased" or "the hunter has changed targets" and contextual messages based on actions like "healing X%" and same for other actions. This would allow people to communicate quickly and effectively without needing a mic, social skills, cooperation with others, friends, speaking the same language, external programs, or interrupting/impeding gameplay by typing. It could be tied to number keys or something like a ping wheel. Then the game can be balanced around it and we can put this age old problem to rest. Honestly I see almost no flaws with this solution and it's the best one I can think of. Sure comms would still give a small advantage over this but small enough that I think people could live with it, plus if this idea was in place killer would be buffed to compensate so it'd balance out anyways. I think it'd be super easy to implement and I'm kind of surprised the devs haven't thought of this super simple thing yet
-
The bug that rarely made the map dark af for a whole match and you had to use the few lights scattered around to see where to go. Generator lights and flashlights actually made a difference when that bug happened. That actually felt like a scary hide and seek game
-
I don't want to see another "survivors should be able to leave whenever they want and shouldn't be forced to play the game and shouldn't have any penalty for leaving no matter what, it's their time and no one should control how they spend it, they paid for the game and shouldn't have to play it if they don't want to" comment while killers don't get any of that. Killers have nothing even close to the equivalent of a hook suicide, they just have to sit there and take it until the game is over (assuming the survivors don't extend it to troll) with no way to make it end sooner without a penalty.
Why should survivors be able to end it early with no penalty when they don't like their team, map, killer or killer's addons or whatever else, when killers can't end it early if they don't like the map or survivor's items or perks or tactics or SWF whatever else? Seems like a double standard. I think killers should be able to open the gate at any time OR they should remove the ability for survivors to suicide on hook. Make it equal for both sides one way or the other. I'd prefer the killer be able to open the gate but either option is better than one side being able to quit early without penalty while the other can't do anything like that
-
He's so big and tall he could literally just walk around and grab all the survivors and hand them straight up into the entity in the sky
-
They could just add an option to use any tier at or lower than what you've unlocked for a perk. So if you want level 1 or level 3 you can choose so everybody's happy

If this was truly the case, then Leatherface should be a superior Hillbilly, and ol' Billy should be one of the weakest characters in the game. Certainly not in the top 3, and the easiest to learn of all of them.
It doesn't always happen to every character, only sometimes, and Leatherface had much less effort put into him by the devs than many other killers
-
Good old "power creep" which in gamer terms means something that is in a game early on will eventually end up being weaker or less interesting than future content due to expanding ideas and generally increasing uniqueness required for each subsequent piece of content
In other words old stuff basically gets weaker and/or less cool over time as new things are added. Our good old boy Trapper has been there since the dawn of time and his power is pretty basic. Nowadays we got all this crazy stuff which makes him seem bland by comparison. I wouldn't mind a few changes for Trapper, such as being able to hold 2 traps and not have to rely on bag addons all the time
-
Hope that's not a bug π
-
Who you callin' Pinhead?
Jokes aside, I'd be alright with it. Personally I'd be excited for Candyman or Jason the most, but I'd be cool with anybody as long as the power is good and they don't make the character into an actual joke just for them to be able to fit in the game
-
If you mean emblem points, everybody loses Benevolent emblem points when somebody gets hooked and everybody gets those emblem points back when they get unhooked, regardless of how long it took to do it. If they die, you don't get the points back unless they died within 10 seconds of being hooked (so it was their last hook or they let themselves die on the hook shortly after being hooked)
To answer your question: no, not really. The survivors lose/gain the same amount of points whether they rescue the survivor in the first or second phase. The only difference being that since the rescuer gets bonus emblem points, letting the survivor go through a phase without getting saved means that's one less instance where someone could get those bonus points.
-
I heard there was a glitch that lets people do that (as opposed to straight up hacking) but no idea how it happens. Either way though it's definitely not intentional
-
I really only care about the power when it comes down to it. That being said, I think I'd like a bee related power if they do it right and really get creative with it (at first glace Candyman might seem lame but there's actually a lot of stuff they could do with him as long as they aren't lazy about it) so overall I want Candyman. Other potential killers for this chapter could be cool (or uncool) too though. I really hope they put their effort into this one and didn't just throw something together
-
Monstrous Shrine has gone the longest without any change and it's also one of the worst. It's been there since the game came out and has been that way since. This perk could be something cool if they get creative with it
-
I think I'm gonna have to go with Candyman
-
- Candyman
- Jason
- Pyramid Head
- Pennywise
- Xenomorph
Honestly 3 4 and 5 are all about the same excitement level for me. I'd be most excited for Candyman or Jason but ultimately I don't care as much about who it is as I care what their power is. If they have a good power it doesn't matter how excited I was for the character I'll like them. On the other hand if their power sucks I'm not going to like them even if it ends up being who I want it to be.
-
I don't really care as long as they have a power I like. But generally I think original characters are more likely to have that so I prefer those

What's the difference between waiting the 4 minute bleed out timer and the 5 minute DC timer?
They can't instantly sproing right into the hatch if they gotta wait for the bleedout

"You're not entitled to a escape"
You're not entitled to a kill either.
Yeah but you're not entitled to an escape either π

@nancybestgirl said:
If you're complaining about it you were slugging for the 4k.
Why complaining when you're using such boring mechanic to make the game miserable and even more long to everyone? take your 3k and move on, you're not entitled to nothing.
If you're defending DCs then you were DCing for the hatch.
Why complain when you're abusing a cheesy mechanic to rip off the killer and get an escape when you shouldn't have? Just get sacrificed and move on, you're not entitled to an escape
-
It should take the same time it takes to kick a gen to stop the regression. Not sure how that'd be unfair especially considering there are 4 survivors and only 1 killer and the killer's regression is 1/4 the speed of a single survivor's repair speed
-
I say "why the ######### did 3 people commit on a gen right in front of me while they were all broken and I had corrupt purge shooting at them" I guess I'll never know the truth
-
Breakable walls are just pre-dropped unvaultable pallets pretty much
-
Yeah they work on several killers ahead of time, so it's possible. But it'd be harder for them to balance 2 killers at once (if both DLCs include a killer, and not just a survivor or something else) so I don't know if they'd do it. Maybe they'll pleasantly surprise us but nothing is guaranteed until the devs say it so we'll just have to wait and see
-
Actually it's Joe
Joe Mama

Dead Man Walking
Once per trial, while in the dying state, press the active ability button to immediately get up and start a 10/12/15 second bleedout timer. During this time you can't heal yourself but can still perform other actions and be healed by other survivors. Your recovery meter from the dying state and healing during the bleedout timer will be maintained before and after this perk's effects end. (So you don't lose progress when getting up or going down again when using this)
"I'm gonna feel this in the morning"
Vanishing Act
Once per trial, while inside a locker for at least 5 seconds, press the active ability button to teleport to a random locker outside a 48 meter range. After using this perk your aura and scratch marks are concealed for 6/8/10 seconds. This will cause a loud noise indicator and scratch marks at the locker from which it was used.
"Tada!"
Coagulant
Blood trails you leave behind:
- Considerably darker
- Considerably smaller
- Appear 1/2/3 seconds less frequently (more time between blood pools)
- Disappear 2/3/4 seconds sooner
"Tis just a flesh wound!"

I found a bug earlier today that caused me to get a blink hit with 0 recovery, fatigue, or weapon wiping. Just smack and then keep walking. It only happened once and then the hits were back to normal. I was super confused and I'm not entirely sure how it happened but I'm not going to say how I think it happened because it'll be fixed the millisecond I hit "post comment" meanwhile all the bugs that are bad for her are left in the game for months
I'd also like to add that I was on temple of purgation and I couldn't blink literally anywhere near the main building or it would make me blink in place, it didn't have anything to do with the other bug but it did cause me to get a few unintentional mindgames where the survivor ran back into me because I didn't actually go anywhere
-
I think Candyman is most likely to have a power I'd like so I'd most want him. I also like his style with the hook and coat and whatnot. Jason and Pennywise and whoever else it might be are less likely to have something I'd like, even though they are cool ultimately the only thing I really care about is the ability.
-
There has also been Barack Obama, "My Actual Penis" Chucky, Pinhead, N***r Man, and more. This is super unreliable and after people figured out they could just go in there and change it it's been even worse
-
Having "AnOtHeR cLoWn" doesn't make it impossible to have Pennywise. We also have 2 chainsaw killers, 2 white masked stalkers, 2 crouching killers, 3 trap killers, 4 teleporting killers, 4 stealth killers, 2 Yamaoka family killers. It's not like they'd do the same thing anyways, their powers and style would be totally different.
That being said I don't really care for or against Pennywise, just wanted to point out that having a Clown does not make him off limits. Like seriously if they asked Mathieu Cote "hey man you want Pennywise in dbd" he wouldn't be like "sorry dude we already have a fat greasy clown in the game so I can't do it"

There's also Barack Obama (or there was at one point), Chucky, Pinhead, and "My Actual Penis" so I wouldn't put too much trust in it https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7079558/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_1

The move was coming in June which is the same time as chapter 16, but now the movie is coming in September which is the same time as chapter 17. So it could be chapter 17 now if it's not this chapter, it would make sense that if they wanted them around the same time that if one got delayed they would delay the other. Or maybe not, who knows.
-
They should just make crows come when you don't do anything productive (gens, healing, saves, totems, chases, etc.) for too long so running in circles and spamming gestures (yeah that counts as an action for some reason) won't let you hide forever. It should take longer than the idle crows just to be sure that someone probably won't get revealed when they aren't trying to stall or hide for way too long
-
Candyman would bee SWEET!
We don't have an insect killer yet, I mean this game has enough bugs already but it'd probably bring something new to the table and could be cool. Honestly though I don't really care who/what they add, ultimately I just care about the power, fingers crossed that whatever it is I'll finally find my "main" but I've been saying that for the last 15 chapters and have had no such luck yet. And I do have mains in other games so I'm not a "no main" person.
As long as they keep adding stuff that isn't just another version of the same thing then by process of elimination they'll eventually make something I like, probably.
-
If/when they change it they'll probably spring it on us out of nowhere so people don't get a warning to use them all up before they get nerfed.
So maybe start using them if you don't want them all to turn into the crap version because they'll probably get nerfed to the 9th circle of hell never to return
-
He can ride a fast and deadly unicycle that's like Hillbilly's chainsaw but when you run over a survivor Clown laughs his ass off and keeps going
-
They should've made it Monstrous Shrine (both because it's like the worst ######### perk in the game and because it's not even a teachable)
-
If I get hit by DS I'm like "well it's gone now, nothing to lose so might as well keep going for them, they're injured and still close to me anyways"
-
Make it spawn extra hooks in the basement, that'll make it even better than it already is
-
But then the hook would be stuck in them (not that logic matters, I mean you can get chainsawed 5 times and then somebody can rub your back for a few seconds and you're good as new)
-
RE: Resistance is a thing so probably not. Hey, just go play Resistance (it comes with RE3 remake, there's an open beta for Resistance going on right now until it releases next week. Well there should be but it is having technical difficulties or something, should be fixed soon. https://www.residentevil.com/re3/us/ ) it's a 4v1, it's quite different from dbd but it's an asymmetrical multiplayer nonetheless
-
Also Predator Hunting Grounds is having a trial weekend starting later today I believe
-
Oh but revving chainsaw under the hook for 2 minutes with Bubba is perfectly fine and not targeting a survivor in any way
-
No Mither, Object of Obsession, no other perks needed. Make sure you stare at the killer constantly and run out into the middle of the map and stand there

Would not work, at least on Xbox. The party chat is outside any game and to release a game on this console devs specifically cannot interfere with party chats in any way. You can buff or nurf whatever but cannot stop the comms there. I realize this game was intended to be a solo experience, but once they ported it to consoles they brought in comms.
Not sure if you fully understood what I said but my idea doesn't affect party chat in any way. People would still be able to use voice communication all the same, this idea would just allow people in the game who aren't using it to still be able to communicate. So for example you can hold a button and a wheel of pre-set messages would come up and you select one and it pops up in an in-game chat box (or something like that) allowing solo players to have a level of communication close enough to survive with friends players for the game to be balanced around that level of communication.

The others are bad but these are the worst. Especially when I'm trying to let them die so I can get hatch already π
