The sky is blue. The grass is green. And here’s another “Scott Jund said so” topic.

I really like Scott and I enjoy his videos and he is right about what he said in this video but how come every time he posts a video about a topic that we’ve known about for the longest time now people piggyback and are like “Yep. Popular content creator said this. Now it’s fact”.

Nothing personal against Scott, but I dislike how people agree and make topics and typically agree simply because he’s a well know content creator.

I’m pretty sure most people already knew how the forums are. There is biased galore around here. Half the topics don’t even make sense.

Not really, there are a lot of people, but if you're not so well known, it gets swept under the rug. Scott making those type of videos encourages people to step up and make a thread about the topic. But it is true, there are some people that blindly agree with everything content creator says.

  • This is a fear I used to have when I first started. The best way to overcome it is to just keep playing killer until you get used to it. You're still new and have lot of things to learn, just take it easy and don't give a damn about winning or losing.

  • Killer is way more chill and less frustrating than survivor.

Nurse should get a complete rework.

Hawkins is the best indoor map.

  • For me it would be breakable walls on the Game.

To me I do find it sad that a 110% killer is so weak the only way to get their adept is not using their power, slug, and tunnel.

It's just not about him being weak, but also bugged chaser emblem, since knives injuries don't give you chaser points.

  • Oh no! So we as players are to blame for all the bugs and state of the killer. Do they expect us to spend our free time to do their job for them? I believe we were loud and clear regarding the Trickster. If you are not satisfied, hire playtesters and stop blaming community for it. BHVR seriously wake up, before it's too late.

  • I fell in love with billy lately, he has high mobility, dangerous in open areas. IMO one of the most balanced killers in the game at the moment. And more importantly he creates fun interactions for both sides. The only thing I dislike are some of his addons, especially the ones that work only when someone's trying to flashlight you.

  • The only thing i'm worried about is if they actually fixed FPS issues/drops that were introduced with the new chapter. The rest of the changes are good, nothing to complain about really.

But wouldn't saying GG WP after every match dilute it of its purpose too? To me, it would be like adding an exclamation point (!) after every sentence. It would quickly lose its value/meaning.

Not really, you don't have to write it every single time, but what's important, if you really mean it in a respectful manner rather than just saying it only when you win.

  • GG WP is form of electronic handshake and that you respect your opponent. Many people just say it when they win, which completely loses it's purpose. Either say gg whether it's victory or defeat, or just don't at all.

  • Not sure sure if bait or serioust, but no drawbacks? You get exhausted upon successfully stunning the killer. If you hate dealing with lockers builds, just get Iron Maiden and they will think twice before going into locker again.

I'm honestly so confused. Didn't people want them to delay chapters and stuff when they aren't ready (even if this technically isn't a delay since they never announced a release date)?

But now they are 'delaying' it and people are upset?

I'm all for criticizing BHVR when they deserve it, but this seems good imo.

Well they had some delays in the past, The doctor for instance and it was still a disaster. According to the leaks, they made some last minute changes and since verification/approval process can take up to a week on consoles, so they had to delay it.

  • Im excited, it’s going to be an actual anti-tunnel perk, so killer that don’t tunnel won’t get punished anymore, which is great, because I can’t count how many times I got dsed by a survivor after I downed and hooked a completely different survivor.

  • For me personally, I would say length of the match and chases are the most important factors for either side to make it fun. As a survivor I enjoy team work, get involved in few fun chases, saves and I'm good to go. As a killer I enjoy chasing different survivors and get as many hooks as possible. I don't necessarily try to ruin someone's fun and try to be as fair as possible.

I partially disagree insofar as there is definitely a logic to them. Several breakable walls are very clearly being used to reintroduce specific god windows and infinites that have been known about for some time. The breakable walls simply give them an excuse not to remove an extremely strong loop because "now you can break it". Forget that this still ignores some of those loops being insanely strong, and technically just removes them being "infinite" and instead makes them more like "It'll only take 99 loops instead of 10000."

It honestly seems like breakable walls were simply introduced as a way to let them keep making infinites, but slap a band-aid on them instead of fully fixing them. This is a double slap in the face because some of these infinites were outright REMOVED from the game before breakable walls were introduced, but they've been added back into the game. A problem that was FIXED was REINTRODUCED INTENTIONALLY to make use of a BAND-AID mechanic. That is completely backwards of how these sorts of issues should be addressed. My ONLY guess there is that SOMEONE on the dev team REALLY likes those loops and wanted to keep them, and looked for a way to make SOMETHING that would allow them to be reintroduced while still giving the devs the ability to say "Oh, you totally have a counter you can use, even if it's inferior".

But I mean their implementation in the new maps, they serve as solid wall, which won't be destroyed ever by smart killers, because there's no reason to.

  • I agree, I made a discussion about this topic 2 weeks ago and I feel they have have no idea how to implement them properly, it feels like they are forced to put them on maps without any logic behind that.

Here's the thing. Killer is only frustrating if you're bad at it or the survivors are significantly better than you.

Survivor always has the potential to be frustrating no matter how good you are at the game compared to the killer... or your fellow survivors.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1987948#Comment_1987948

You do realize you can't do gens while you're on the hook being facecamped.

Exactly, but majority of people here think it's the other way for some reason.

  • Bbbbut SuRvIvOrs aRe sO eAsY aNd ChIlL tO pLaY, oNlY kIlLeRs sIdE iS fRuStRaTing. Im R1 both sides and I get way more frustrated playing survivor, especially solo than killer.

There's also the fact that some things are connected, and recognizing that is not "whataboutism".

That is correct, however trying to fix all at once is still wrong approach, it should be done gradually.

  • Whataboutism isn't even about maining specific side, it's rather about selfish people who are trying to justify something broken, because something else is broken. They don't realize it makes things more complicated and thus never come to conclusion. But expecting from this community to have logical reasoning and actually come up with a solution is a very ambitious goal.

Maybe there's an alternate universe, where WE as a community can unite and discuss one problem at a time.

  • According to leaks, we're getting PTB tomorrow, if there aren't any issues that would cause delay. I'm not sure about the reveal, tho.

  • @SnakeSound222 said:

The Game’s walls need to be broken because they block access to hooks more often than not. It already didn’t have the best hook distribution but the walls make it even worse.

While it is true that hook distribution is weird on the Game, I still never destroy them, because I usually capitalize and trap survivors in dead end areas.

  • @Gibberish said:

Breakable walls have been extremely poorly implemented, yeah.

What they -should- be is "break this to nearly completely shut down this loop ahead of time in exchange for taking up your time".

What they actually are instead is either:

    A) "Never break this ever, or it gives Survivors a new looping route"

    B) "Break this immediatley or this loop is a near-infinite lmao"

I agree, definitely missed the potential.

  • Not really, it was being tested a while ago. Also my question would be: Why are Dedicated servers treated as P2P? The whole idea of dedicated servers was to make it more fair for both sides and make desync as minimal as possible. But in the current situation you still get punished, if killer has crappy connection.

  • I really couldn't care less about someone's sexuality or religion, as long as it's not shoved in my face. And by that I mean as long as it doesn't affect my gameplay or experience in negative way.

  • Honestly, I prefer licensed stuff, as it creates bigger hype for me, original chapters are pretty "dull" lately.

  • Well, tbh I'm kinda skeptical about this, because every march release had really annoying killers : Doctor, Plague, DeathSlinger. I just hope it's not going to be be another killer that dies after week of release.

  • For me it's not even about killing everyone, it's about length of the match. I usually dislike camping/tunneling, so if match is longer I try to roam around the map, chase others and gain as much BPs as possible. That's why I try to bring little to none meta perks so both sides can have fun. For me true win is when both sides did enjoy the experience.

  • All of the Ash teachables should get reworked imo.

    Title

Now that ds is being balanced should noed receive the same treatment?

Noed is obviously a pretty disagreed topic to talk about but what’s something most people could agree on?

Now before people start typing away saying “just do bones”, don’t. Yes you could say the perk has counterplay for that reason but does that make it fair? no. Now you could also say that the counterplay ds is too just slug but does that make ds fair? no, ds is complete bs. Both ds and noed have counterplay but that doesn’t make them fair.

Nord basically just guarantees the killer a kill for no reason and is that fair? maybe in a balanced perspective but that doesn’t mean the perk is fine in its current condition. Balanced or not, the perk is just straight up unhealthy for the game and needs to be altered in a way where it’s still strong but not bullsh1t and doesn’t just guarantee a free kill for no reason.

What are some ways you people would suggest tweaking it to be more healthy and balanced?

What I would do is to make NOED non-hex and make it token-based, so you get 20 secs of NOED per each first-hook and 15 secs for each additional hook, this would reward killers for playing good, instead of rewarding campers. I believe this change would make it more fair for both sides.

  • Honestly at this point I would be surprised if something worked correctly.

  • I think it has something to do that they're anti-chase killers, making the most fun thing for survivors "chase" rather frustrating. For me it has nothing to do with bullying or escaping. As a veteran player I enjoy chases, that's why Blight, Oni, Billy or even demo are extremely fun to verse, since they can be dangerous, but still need to deal with basic defense mechanics survivors have, as for Slinger or Phead, survivors have to rely on their screwup.

  • Few days ago same idea popped into my head, perk search bar would help me in a long run. same color of every perk just makes me completely confused. Also an option to check which perks is your killer/survivor missing would be pretty cool too.

  • I hope not, they should focus on fixing and believe me there's a lot things to fix.

  • For me it's definitely Stranger things chapter, Gotta love DemoBoi.

  • Take a well deserved break. Honestly I think BHVR needs a slap on face to realize what they're doing.

@JFF "Once again of course it is more likely to get a hate mail from survivor since there are 4 players, but you were referring to the level of toxicity however the LEVEL of toxicity is same on both sides. This doesn't mean killer players are generally nicer when it comes toxicity."

I already thought i explained this but lets go over it again. Say there is X amount of toxic players in the community regardless of which role they play. Out of 5 players in the trial 4 is survivor and 1 is killer. So one of the 4 survivors being toxic is 4 times more likely yes? I was trying to say this when i said "i get hate mail more than 4 times over" is that toxicity levels i see from survivors cannot be explained by their higher numbers. That exactly means that average killer is less toxic than average survivor. At least depending on my and all of my friends -who played the game for thousands of hours- and %80 of people who actually played killer in red ranks experiences. Don't even comment on this if you don't have that much experience in the game. Because most of this community knows this for a fact.

What i wanted you to get from FrenziedRoach's comment wasn't the "well uhmm just play better" execuse. It was that i am only responsible for my fun as a player. Not even a single multiplayer game -asymmetric or not- loads the responsibility of the fun had to a single player. DBD doesn't do that either, it is the community that is delusional. Survivors act like camping and tunneling are not a part of the game that was intended during the game design. I am not saying that survivors must be happy for getting face camped. I also think it can get frustrating. But they shouldn't act like killer is doing something they are not entitled to and lash out like i see in every 2-3 games in the endgame chat. That is not in anyway justified and way more toxic than whatever done in the game. Endgame chat is the most toxic part of this game by far. And those "unwritten rules" i was talking about? They cause survivors to think "Oh killer isnt supposed to do that what a trash, #########,bastard bla bla bla." Now THAT is toxic. Since this kind of perception of the game people have can't be undone, best thing devs can do for toxicity is just to remove the ######### endgame chat. I get kill threats every 4-5 games man, it is just insane and is like nothing i have ever seen in a video game before.

I have over 5200 hours, with all achievements completed. Almost every single season red ranks both as a killer and as a survivor, except the 3 months break I took. Now back to the point, I do get called out for tunneling or nooby or whatever, but I got like 1-3 death threats in total during those 5 years. So as you said, either i'm extremely lucky or players actually enjoy the experience with or against me. I also never have a malicious intention of ruining someone's match.

If post-game chat is such a problematic thing for you to deal with, just close it, press continue button, no one is forcing you to chat with others, especially when you play the way you want.

My whole point is we're part of a community and if we want to function and maintain a healthy relationship between players, we have to reach a compromise, otherwise this will be a never ending cycle of hatred between two sides.

  • @Crunc2h said:

@JFF I still get hate mails more than 4 times over when playing killer compared to playing survivor. We all know basic statistics don't worry, it is just more than the numbers expected. If you are denying that, you never played killer or you are insanely lucky.

Regarding other points please read @FrenziedRoach 's comment.

Once again of course it is more likely to get a hate mail from survivor since there are 4 players, but you were referring to the level of toxicity however the LEVEL of toxicity is same on both sides. This doesn't mean killer players are generally nicer when it comes toxicity.

Also if you want me to react to what @FrenziedRoach wrote, well nothing really relates to what I said, because this is an asymmetrical game where you can't compare survivor to killer, so even if you were the best player in the world there are still things you can't prevent and are just simply unfun. So toxic behavior is still not justified for either side and saying "well umm just play better" is a weak excuse and doesn't solve the core issue. We're talking about actual hate-mail, harassment and mechanics in-game that promote such behavior, not losing because you played poorly.

  • @Crunc2h said:

I know this was discussed 100 times before and it really won't make any difference, i am sick of this crap in this community so i am going to write this anyway. I will try to make my point AS SIMPLE AS i can so our lovely entitled friends would get it.

I mainly play killer but i am also a rank 1 survivor. And toxicty levels are MUCH higher on the survivor side so i will make my point from a killers perspective.

    1. DON'T CAMP
    2. DON'T TUNNEL

Now i will define these rules, talk about general survivor arguments and debunk them.

    1. CAMPING

    2 different categories.

    • Face Camping - You hook a survivor and stare at him from a 1m distance.
    • Proxy Camping - You hook a survivor and patrol around the area.

    Now let's talk about the situations in which a killer face camps;

    1. All 5 Gens are done and you only have one hooked survivor, you want to hook trade and secure at least one kill.
    2. A survivor somehow tilted you quite hard so you want them dead.
    3. You know survivors are overly alturistic so its a strat.
    4. You just want to taste some salt in the endgame chat.
    • In situation 1 you have absolutely nothing else to do in the map and you go for the only way for a potential victory or at least a draw. You CANNOT be blamed for being a toxic killer. (Always happens that way though.)
    • In situation 2 and 4 you left the default gameplay route of a killer and just want to satisfy your own emotional needs. Which is how you should play any video game because an arbitrary ranking system isn't what is affecting your real life. You WILL be blamed for being toxic -and most likely learn some new [BAD WORDS]-.In the DBD community, reasons for why said actions are toxic are the below;
    1. You effectively ruin a survivors game experience thus you are being toxic : As a player you can't be held responsible for that. This is a game, someone will win and someone will lose. DEVS are responsible for all players game experience and they REPEATEDLY said that face camping is VALID. They said its valid but that doesn't mean that you aren't going to be penalized. You WILL lose the game if survivors are not morons and change their gameplay according to yours. But if they don't do that and situation 3 comes in to play, then its survivors fault that they didn't adapt, you CANNOT be held responsible for their actions. Every player gets to play however they want as long as it is allowed in the game. (quick note: As survivors you are NOT entitled to get unhooks since its a high-risk high-reward action. Killers ARE NOT supposed to go pressure elsewhere at your convenience.)

Let's get to the Proxy Camping, this post will be long but i don't really care anymore.

    1. You know someone is in the area coming for rescue so you look around in order to find them but be close enough to get a hit if they actually come in for a rescue.
    2. Or it is just an extended version of face camping. (Reasons for why it is valid and not toxic are the same with face camping.)
    • In situation 1 since you don't have wallhack you naturally don't want to go patrol gens across the map which may or may not have survivors nearby. But you definetly know that someone is going to come for a rescue so you can maybe get a down or two and snowball the game from there. This is a strat and you ARE NOT being toxic. This doesn't apply when its just the start of the game but if that is the case you CANNOT be held responsible from any BM for the same reasons i gave regarding face camping.

Strat or not survivor mains don't really care so your entire family line will be slaughtered in the endgame chat by very, VERY creative means.

    1. TUNNELING
    • A situation in which killer doesn't give a damn about anything in the game except eliminating one survivor from the game at their own loss. ( Players are free in any action they take as long as the game allows it. Same with the reasons why face camping is valid, and is not toxic.)
    • A situation in which killer successfully determines weak and strong survivors and focuses on the weak ones in order to cripple the survivors and win the game. (This is a sound strategy which i myself often use to destroy rank 1 while playing wraith. There is no difference between this and looping. You waste killers time with looping and killer wastes your time by repeatedly forcing you to go for rescues and he takes 1 player out of the game in the process and takes usually 1 or 2 survivors away from objectives. You don't get to play if you can't give chase to a killer longer than 30 seconds. Imagine this like repeatedly dying in League of Legends, making enemy team stronger, and then your team cusses at the enemy player for getting the kills instead of your teammate feeding the enemy team. Sounds stupid huh?

And again regardless of which option above you go for you WILL get your future children and grandchildren [BAD WORD] in a myriad of ways that you can't even begin to imagine. I don't know who actually brought up this stupid set of rules but what is more shocking is that %95 percent of the community abides to it like some holy commandment. It is an actual social phenomenon that makes DBD the game that has the most toxic community from the other multiplayer games i played BY FAR. Conclusion: DON'T LET ANYONE change the way you want to play the game because all these unwritten rules are nothing but BS.

PS : As i said at the start of this text, what i said here applies for both killers and the survivors. I wrote this from a killers perspective because survivors (at least in my experience playing the game for 2 years, watching videos, being part of the community) are way WAY more toxic in the endgame chat comapred to the killers. EVERYONE playing the game are free to choose any perk, addon, strategy they want to use if it is in the game. OP or not.

Now this is a very good discussion, however I have to disagree with some statements you made.

"And toxicty levels are MUCH higher on the survivor side " - Now this is just wrong, killers are equally as toxic, but since you have 4 survivors, it is statistically more likely to meet a toxic player than a killer.

Now with the made up rules, I agree some take them to the next level and you shouldn't expect player to follow those so called "unwritten rules", i'll get to this point later, i'll react to your next statement first.

"In situation 2 and 4 you left the default gameplay route of a killer and just want to satisfy your own emotional needs" - DBD is unfortunately the type of game, where one side has the power to ruin experience and fun of the other side. Now that doesn't mean it should be abused, because toxic behavior is more likely to attract even more toxicity in the end, but also keep in mind you're playing with other humans, without them there's no game. Playing for the sake of ruining someone's fun is just ill will and shouldn't be tolerated, regardless whether it's video game, sport or pretty much anything.

Unwritten rules are some kind of middle ground for both sides that was made back when the game came out. it was made by group of like minded players that used to play together on specific regions. The whole purpose of these rules was to create respect and fun for both sides. For instance: Survivors wouldn't abuse infinites and in return killers wouldn't camp. As the time passed people outside the "groups" would notice and try to apply it to their matches, but other teammates or opponents weren't either aware or just wouldn't care. This where the cycle of "I expect you to follow the unwritten rules" began and it still lasts to this day. However people decided to abuse this and try to insult or mock you when the match doesn't go their way. What most of the DBD players lack nowadays is empathy and fail to see the main point of those unwritten rules. In the end don't be a dick and treat others the way you want to be treated.

  • @TheClownIsKing said:

    Stop being afraid of change!

    Fine.

How about they revert ALL changes and updates! We’ll go back to just Trapper, Wraith, Billy, Dwight, Claudette, Jake, Meg, MacMillan, Coldwind, and Azarov.

    Happy?!

There's a huge difference between being afraid of a change and complaining about something that majority of players dislike. Is there "nicer" way to to give your feedback? Definitely yes, but BHVR for some reason only responds when there's a literal shitstorm happening.

  • No, this was a thing even before this patch. When a killer hits you, your character has no collision with the killer for a brief moment. This is an intended feature to prevent killer from trapping a survivor in the corner.

  • I noticed the same thing with Devout emblem on killer, I get over 9 hooks, 4 K, still gold or less. It seems whole emblem system is broken, so I won't be able to finish archives challenge, unless it gets fixed.

  • My favorite one is "goofy hands" for Myers, because his hands remind me of Goofy the character from Mickey Mouse.

  • Nea, because she's my least favorite survivor and she's also tied to my least favorite chapter.

  • I would love to get along with everyone here, but it's harder than it seems. Most of the people who play only one side create "us vs them" mentality, which creates even more toxic enviroment than it is. Also DBD's design gives people tools that can be abused to grief or deprive your opponents of the fun.

Also many players don't understand losing is part of the game and it's completely fine to not 4k every match as a killer or escape every match as a survivor.

I just hope devs are working on these issues and try to unite both sides, so we can have more friendly and respectful community.

  • I’ve submitted a question regarding MMR for upcoming QNA and it got downvoted, people don’t realize that MMR might bring us even more frustrating matches than before.

  • @TheButcher said:

It's gotten out of hand. It needs to be a top priority, and harassment tickets need to start being taken more seriously in the report system. Suspensions and ban's need to start being made immediatly in instances that a player tells someone to kill themself or throws around derogatory terms.

Don't bother saying "Just close chat"

Don't bother saying "It is how it is"

Don't bother saying "Just take a break"

Those are terrible responses. The issue has become out of hand, and needs to be taken more seriously.

    @Peanits @not_Queen @AnyOtherBhvrEmployeeThatTalksDrectlyToTheDevTeamOrSupportTeam

While I'm against racial slurs, discrimination or any extreme insults, it's definitely not out of hand. I agree this community is mostly toxic, but I rarely meet people being just straight racist or any extreme cases. Also closing chat is a perfectly valid response, because this feature was literally made, so you don't have to deal with the post game chat. If you personally encounter a lot of super toxic people, the best solution is to just close chat and move on.

Exactly! For only €6,99 and a day or two grind all your problems will be solved. ;^)

There's a thing called shrine, you should check it out! (it's located in upper section in store) or you could spend in-game currency called shards to buy the killer and get the teachable within 2-3 hours of playtime. I'm giving advice to guy that struggles with lockers, unless you have better idea or suggestion, please refrain from pointless sarcastic comments. :o)

  • I'll tell you a secret, but don't tell anyone. ...i.r.o.n.m.a.i.d.e.n, no but seriously I run it on billy and it works wonders, if you have trouble with people using lockers, just run iron maiden and they will think twice before jumping into the locker again.

Ever since Scott Jung's "boring killers" video, this forum has been plagued with parrots that don't want to form their own opinion and instead spam "muh counterplay too hard" any time Deathslinger is brought up. Actually playing this killer will show you the counterplay: Have ANY OBJECT in between you and him. He can't down you with a shot if there's a pallet, rock, barrel, car or even another survivor in the way. No matter the map, there is always something you can use to put behind yourself so that you can't be downed with a shot.

This is on top of the obvious counterplay, which is just breaking line of sight and faking movements. But people will still repeat this tired, debunked take because the counter play is more than "Do ring-around-the-rosie 3 times and drop pallet"

Major complaint is he's boring to verse, because your options to counter him are way more limited compared to most of the killers. Going behind object indeed works, but only when killer is far away, however when DeathSlinger is 10-5 meters behind, you are pretty much forced to guess. Any decent DS will zone you by spamming ads, making you lose distance and then you have no time to react when he shoots.
