  • I definitely prefer 2v8 over 1v4. I have a lot of fun on both sides (most matches). The main problem is that I’d rarely get to play killer because the killer queues are so horrendously long. Short killer queue times, especially during evening peak hours, is really all that 1v4 mode has going for it.

  • This has been requested by the community countless times, but BHVR has made it clear that they are not going to do anything about it. They are totally fine with killers VPNing from the other side of the world with an 800 ping and hitting you 5 seconds after you vault a window.

It's also because you keep buffing killerz and nerfing survivors, guide class gutted.

what buffs did killer get in 2v8 this time? Guide got nerfed but escapist buffed with on-demand sprint burst that affects other nearby players. Also, free, unlimited unbreakable. Please explain how survivors overall got nerfed.

i guess so and the fact people are saying that these 2 killers are the problem like nerfing or removing them will magically make the queue better is just wild

the queue was even worst before they were added, honestly this post just made me realize how delusional people in this community are, any sign of someone saying that an obvious thing or just asking for fair treatment for both sides is a big no no and illegal but the 500th complaint about 2 killers in a temp mode or ghoul are fine

but hey its my fault i tried to asking for a balanced way so i can play diffrent killers instead of spamming the same killer so i can have chance to win, this place keeps getting misrable by the day, i feel so bad for the devs, can't listen here, can't listen anywhere else, because anyone who asks for something reasonable gets hounded, but that person saying that circle of healing was balanced gets praised….the hell has become of this community

Calling people who have a different view from yours “delusional” is probably not going to help win them over to your side

wow congrats on winning your games, its almost as if everyone is on a diffrent server, has diffrent survivors and teammates..makes me wonder also what's with the fact u seem to be telling anyone who complains to "if u are not enjoying killer role stop playing" like bro? people cannot express their opinion or something?

oh u dislike this, stop playing

but when u tell rage quitting survivors the same, its all the sudden not right….got it

I’m not suggesting that anyone stop playing. My point is that there are lots of people lined up to play killer and that is pretty strong evidence that the killer role is not overly weak in 2v8 mode.

  • @PigWithTvs said:

seen a lot of posts about nerf legion / nerf oni

yet not a single post about the fact survivors have a on command sprint burst and an instal heals…

skill issue on my part u might say?

true, its my mistake i played a killer (trapper in this case) with no dash, guess who will i play next since i got frustrated with those 2 things bashing my fun in the face 300 times in one game

if yall want oni and legion nerfed or "removed" there better be changes on survivor side too, otherwise u gonna see more wesker / blight or blight / nurse

then start the complaining train about those

i always loved how this community complained about something yet never seen the opposite of the coin, either or that or they actively ignore it and downvote anyone who calls it out

and im not saying "oh don't use them or why are u using them" please do use them, they are there for a reason, but stop crying when u face the same killer that probably had a similar exprience and decided to switch to have fun or have a chance to play

or better yet maybe try the killer yourself, see how "fun" it feels

I’ve played 7 or 8 matches as killer so far in 2v8 (always as Wraith, always solo not communicating with partner) and it was 6K or more in all but one match. The insta heals and sprint burst were not game-breaking at all.

There’s just no evidence to argue that the survivor side in 2v8 needs to be made any weaker, not when killer queue times are 20-30 minutes. If you’re not enjoying the killer role, there are plenty of killer players who would love to take your spot in the queue.

  • What is your kill rate? Average across all players is around 60%. I’ve been playing Wraith (a very mid-tier killer) recently and my kill rate over the past 30 days is over 70%. I’m not an especially skilled player. So it’s very possible for average players like myself to to do well with mid killers. Some matches you’re going to get stomped, but most you are not. The overall stats don’t indicate that survivor is overpowered whatsoever.

  • I’ve long since given up on the player surveys. We’ve seen so many times in the past when feedback was immediate tossed into the waste basket. Until we see some reversal from that trend and feedback actually acted upon, it seems that the surveys are simply a waste of our time.

  • How many matches have you played? How many kills on average per match? Which killer(s) are you using? I’ve played about 5-6 killer matches, most as Wraith, and haven’t had any problem getting a lot of kills. I think killers have a very good chance to win in this mode based on my experience so far. I don’t think there would still be huge wait times for killer if everyone was getting gen rushed in 5 minutes.

The solution is to remove Legion from 2v8. Not every Killer needs to be in 2v8 (in fact, not every Killer will be in 2v8 anyway, since not every License Holder will agree), so there is not really any need to keep Legion around in 2v8. It is just a terrible Killer for this mode and does not really fit at all.

Fully agree. I think a lot of people avoid playing survivor in 2v8 simply because there’s a good chance they’ll be facing Legion. I have no problem with Legion in 1v4 (except for teammates who often don’t know how to play against them), but in 2v8 it’s way too easy for them to injure most of the team and the other killer gets 2-3 downs in a short time very easily. Or you get Oni who has his power permanently the entire match.

  • That’s scout, right? Scout’s main benefit is being able to see where the killers are. It’s a thankless but very important role in 2v8. I’ve had some matches with 4 scouts and it’s so great being able to basically always see where the killers are. If there is ever less than 2 scouts I will usually take that role because of how important it is for the team to be able to see killer location. I’ve had a lot of instances where I’ve been able to help teammates mind game jungle gyms or shack really well because I was revealing killer from afar while they were being chased. Wasting killer time like that is super impactful in 2v8. Pallet rebuilding is nice too, but not the main strength of the class, IMO.

  • This is tough to prove with data, but I think that just the fact that Legion are in 2v8 is keeping a lot of people from playing survivor, which in turns exacerbates the problem of long killer queues for this mode. Even after multiple iterations of this mode, BHVR still hasn’t realized that they need to do more to make 2v8 mode appealing for survivors. Killer queue times are just as long as they have ever been. Putting Legion in this mode only made it less appealing for the survivor side. My matches playing as survivor in 2v8 that didn’t have Legion (or Oni) have been very fun for the most part. Remove Legion, add a few other killers, nerf Oni a bit and I think 2v8 would be much more appealing for survivor players.

Honestly just Oni. Legion is super easy to counter and not a problem really. Oni however is always in power and has crazy turns compared to normal so he is super hard to counter.

I agree that Legion is easy to counter if you know what you’re doing, but most of the time solo queue teammates just spend the whole match healing instead of staying injured and working on gens.

I preferred the old version, but Tobas got something for everybody.

  • I mean, are you surprised that it doesn’t work?

  • I seem to remember last 2v8 mode was on BHVR’s extra-jank servers. They must have done the same thing this time around. I’ve been getting ping spikes as well, even though I’m on a very fast hardwired connection not too far from local servers.

  • @Skitten56 said:

I don't mind him being in power the whole game. What is frustrating as a survivor for me though is how much he can turn. I'm sure better survivors can counter it but to me it feels very hard to counter compared to normal Oni.

Completely agree. It seems like he can literally just go in any direction at will with no way to counter on the survivor side. The stuff I do in normal 1v4 mode doesn’t work against this version of Oni. If anyone knows how to actually counter 2v8 Oni while he’s in his power, I’ll gladly take any advice you have!

  • I’ve said this many times before - I don’t think BHVR is going to do anything differently unless they start bleeding players. Their player count recently shot up to all-time high despite some really messy content releases, a couple notable PR disasters and what some say is an ongoing problem with cheaters (to be fair, I haven’t seen a blatant cheater in a very long time). There’s no incentive for them to do anything differently unless they are put under financial pressure to do so, which apparently hasn’t happened yet.

  • Link to video? I’m interested to learn how they know what version of EAC that is being used for this game.

  • Star Wars or anything else not in the horror genre would be a “jumping the shark” moment for DbD. I’m sure it would attract a lot of Star Wars fans, but I would likely be done. I have nothing against Star Wars; it just doesn’t belong in DbD.

  • There is already a huge deficit of survivors in 2v8 mode. Even with this supposedly OP power, it’s not clearly not enough to discourage people from lining up and waiting 20-30 minutes to play the killer side. So if you don’t like it, I’m sure there are plenty of killer players who would be more than happy to take your spot in the queue.

  • I don’t think 2v8 is necessarily killer-sided in general, I just think Oni is still pretty busted in 2v8. Legion is super unfun as well and really doesn’t belong in 2v8. Nerf Oni a bit, get rid of Legion, bring in some other new killers and I think 2v8 would be in a much better spot for survivors.

  • @BbQz said:

Yeah legion Oni is crazy powerful right now

I don't mind BM or banter - I've made a post about this in the past but I've been called slurs, told to off myself or in some cases had threats made against me or someone threatened to kill my dog by going through my post history. Quite certain none of those people are banned.

I'm all for a little bm - it doesn't bother me. I'm more so talking about when someone spreads hate in chat or makes it clear to harass or threaten someone they should immediately lose chat privilege. There's a few content creators atm that spread hate and I remember there has been a few times where BHVR has stepped up and had to go after them but they rarely choose to make an example out of bad actors.

Ultimately though I agree with one thing. If you have anon mode you shouldn't be able to see other names. Yes this has drawbacks for the user but I still feel like you should be able to engage with others to some degree. The alternative is if you choose to reveal someone's name then you reveal your name to them as well with a warning that this will happen. I also feel by default users should be able to hide anon mode chat if they are not in anon mode. I'm all for freedom of choice here.

I think PC is the only platform with anon mode. If anything console needs it much more than we do because they are easily raided with false reports compared to PC.

I’ve had similarly terrible comments directed towards me in endgame chat and like you never had any response from BHVR after reporting them.

If they’re not going to ban for hateful speech like that, they should just do away with the postgame chat altogether so people don’t even have the opportunity to harass others that way.

Maybe I'm the minority here but I just dont get the appeal of 2v8. I kinda hate it lol. I just can't wrap my head around it to be honest. Whats the appeal of being ganged up on by two killers and being double tapped?

I mean, I can see how the chaos could be amusing for awhile but I can't take this mode seriously at all. Its like a party game where you go in and you expect to die,and laugh at how silly it all is. Thats how I see it.

The saving grace, and only reason I play it is because of the 5x multiplayer. Those points are nice. :)

Is 2v8 really loved so much? I'm cool with it coming as an event like the chaos shuffle and stuff tho to mix things up definitely. But as a stand alone match? I dont take it seriously, and im amused for about 3 or 4 matches and im ready to go back to the regular game.

Everyone has different preferences. I personally find 2v8 a lot of fun on both sides. You have to play 2v8 with a different mindset than 1v4. For example, when I get double-teamed my goal is to see how long I can last and I certainly don’t get upset because there’s very little you can do. Usually I only last a few seconds, but I’ve had a few times where I was able to keep both killers busy for longer than that. Not only did it feel very rewarding, but it’s very powerful having 7 other teammates be able to not worry about the killers even for that short period of time.

Your anecdotal experience says nothing. 2v8 was a hit because it was the more balanced mode for survivors, its insane the devs even had to ruin it. The question is why are devs too scared to show us the 2v8 stats lile they used to, what are they hiding? Why do they want the game to be so easy for killers?

Just finished a third match. 8 escapes. That’s one hell of a run of good luck if 2v8 is “unwinnable” for survivors.

I just got on to play a couple matches after work. Played survivor, 7 escapes first match, 8 escapes second match. I am starting to notice a trend now. I don’t know who you are playing with, but it does not feel killer sided even in the slightest to me.

  • Great points. If they’re just going to give a class completely different perks, why not just keep the old class with old perks and then create a new class with new perks? Agree it would be nice to have more variety

How do you know it’s “so easy” for killers? Is it based on your personal experience playing as killer? I’m very hesitant to consider your point of view because 1) it’s very easy to claim one side or the other is “OP” if you’ve never played it yourself, and 2) like you said, BHVR hasn’t released any official stats for 2v8 recently. Anecdotal evidence is literally the only thing any of us have available right now. Others here have said they are seeing lots of survivors escape in 2v8, so it’s not just me. How many survivors on average are escaping in the games you are playing?

  • @sinkra said:

Survivors can't even have fun in 2v8 anymore, devs had to ruin that too with Legion and removing more than half the pallets. Gotta keep the game ultra ez mode for killers.

What’s with all the “us vs them”? . Plenty of people (including myself) have fun playing survivor in 2v8. I don’t know where you are getting this “removing more than half the pallets” from. I played 5 matches last night and escaped 3 out of 5 with majority of survivors also escaping in those matches. It is not that difficult. I agree that Legion sucks to go against in 2v8 but in my matches last night I only saw two Legions, and one of them didn’t seem to know how to play them.

Do you have any recent 2v8 game footage of you playing as killer that you can share? I would like to know how you are concluding that this is “ultra ez mode for killers”. What are the killers that I went up against last night doing wrong? It sure didn’t seem to be “ultra ez mode” for them.

Very disappointed, I just wont play it and save myself the irritation.

Fully agree. Putting Legion into 2v8 was a huge mistake. Survivor is plenty fun for me in this mode but becomes insanely miserable with this one killer and ruins the entire experience. We’ll see how it goes but if I get Legion frequently in the first few matches I’ll probably just quit early like I did last 2v8 event.

  • My guess is that nothing will change unless revenue starts to drop significantly. Why would they do anything differently if they can release half-baked, broken content chapter after chapter and their player count (and likely revenue) is still near all-time highs?

  • I’m fine as long as BHVR makes some adjustments within the next couple of weeks. They never adjust killers this quickly. I’ve only seen one or two Clowns over the past couple of weeks, so it hasn’t bothered me that much I guess. If Clown was more common I’d be a lot more upset. Of course in those couple of matches at least one teammate DC’d immediately.

I've been in many games where we've been down to 1 gen and 3 survivors and escaped.

LOL even something like this that is simply a fact, not opinion, gets downvoted. Even when presented with facts and actual game experience, there are some who simply want to stir up the false narrative that one side or the other is “impossible to play”. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised - the usual downvote bombers love to have their anonymity so they don’t have to actually try to argue their point of view.

  • At this point I’m far more surprised when a promised feature actually works as intended upon release

  • Also, please show evidence that the game is “dying”.

  • @mrnuke420 said:

why is it that every time the survivors get new perks or items they get nerfed almost immediately like the healing circle perk we used to be able to heal ourselves and now it’s just a waste of a perk and also the new smoke bombs now they got nerfed and we can only use two after that it’s done. How about the game developers actually make things even and not just killer sided. The killers have an infinite amount of weapons they can pull and use and abilities that are unlimited just think about it the game is just slowly dying due to the ridiculous amount of nerfs they do to the survivors which is why the developers implemented bots to join these killers constantly get things and never get an actual nerf instead they buff them eventually it’s gonna be a single player game with only bots and I’m saying this as a killer main player but I see how bad the developers just don’t make anything good for the survival side of it.

As others have said, Circle of Healing took a very long time to get nerfed. Almost everyone agrees that fog vials were over-nerfed, even “killer mains”. Stop making this an “us vs them” thing.

  • Yeah, dude is god-tier. Pulsar is one of the very few on this forum for whom I say “yep, they can back up their opinion that killer side might need nerfs.” Most others who voice that opinion never so much as provide even a shred of evidence that they play killer at all.

  • @mecca said:

Whatever happened to waiting and looking at data and seeing how players adjust?

Oh wait, I guess that only applies to killers, even if they are blatantly broken and unfun.

Survivors got the first item ever and it's already been nerfed into non+existence.

Why does this need to be an “us vs them” thing? Pretty much everyone agrees that fog vials were overnerfed, even those that you like to call “killer mains.” It’s so disheartening to see people continually turn every topic into “oh well this happened because BHVR obviously hates killers/survivor players” or “this only happened because killer/survivor mains cried too much.” The divisive “us vs them” garbage is getting really old and makes it much more difficult to have productive discussions.

So if I remember correctly, you also commented in my own (I feel stupid when I play DBD) thread , so you know HOW bad I am. I can´t memorize tiles, NOT AT ALL. And I can´t mindgame because I panic as soon as I get chased. 15 seconds is all I can get out of a chase, I don´t want repeat everything I already said in my own thread but yeah, it is what it is and as long as there is that much tunneling right of the start I won´t have fun because I can´t last in chase and can´t play the match at all if I am the first one being found.

Sorry adding one more comment since the edit function is broken. I have a friend that plays with me occasionally and he is really bad. But he still enjoys playing because he really doesn’t care if he loses. If you can get yourself to that point where you can have fun win or lose, that would make it worth sticking with the game, IMO. Who knows - maybe you’ll even overcome the panic with enough play time.

Yeah I remember commenting on your thread. If your panic really gets that bad when you start getting chased then I’m afraid there’s not much I or anyone else can do to help. I do empathize with you, but also you should consider whether this game is for you. It’s not for everyone - no game is. If you’re truly not having fun and feel like you can never get better, if it was me I would question why I’m still playing at all. It's virtually every match. And it especially hurts because every single killer these days - and I do mean every single one, without exception or exaggeration - camps and tunnels for a first kill at 3 hooks.

That’s not true at all. If you can show me video of you playing 5 matches in a row, and that happens every single time, then let’s talk again. I’ve been playing for a long time and I don’t see killers camping and tunneling every single match. Not even close. Even if it was half of matches, which it isn’t in my experience, that would be way far off from what you are claiming about it happening 100% of the time.

It's solo queue. People aren't doing gens. You can run the killer for 10 minutes and it won't do any good.

Yeah - I’ve had my fair share of matches where that was the case. Useless teammates are definitely by far the worst part of solo queue.

This, this and this. I feel like it doesn't matter how many buffs soloq will get, people will always say "oh it's so bad, literally unplayable".
Removing hook grabs alone was GIGANTIC buff to soloq, change that drew the line between before and after. I don't think people even roughly understand how much easier soloq became with it. HUD, 70 seconds on hook, basekit BT and tone of other big and small buffs, literally no one said here how much better it is now with all these things. Only whining, complaining and doomposting like always.
There is a proverb in my country – you get used to good things quickly. And it's literally about this situation.

What on topic: it's obviously best state of soloq ever. Still a lot of things I would like to see improved, but gameplay-wise it's pretty close to being perfect. The scariest killer in soloq is MMR, always was. Can't imagine how many matches I could win, if one single player with 200 hours in my lobby didn't ruin whole match from beginning. And it's the only truly frustrating thing about soloq for me.

Well said. I feel exactly the same way

  • @IWantCandys said:

Mostly terrible, I think you only have fun as survivor in this game if you're a god at looping or if you have a swf where friends are good loppers who will take the aggro away from you. Otherwise, every round ends quickly for you, you can't really play, and it just doesn't feel good. And the more you lose, the lower your MMR becomes and the weaker your teammates become. And you're stuck there.

I mean, I probably deserve it to be down there, because I can't loop, but it just doesn't feel good to hardly be able to finish a match. And even though I've rarely had some really great killer players who, as soon as they realized they were playing against a completely defenseless solo queue team, slowed down massively and at least let us get a little bit into the game (didn't let us win, which was right, but gave us time to do something in the match), the majority of killer players tunnel from the get go.

Even if they realize they could easily beat this team without tunneling, they still act like they're participating in a $1,000,000 tournament. It's just miserable and even though BHVR had planned anti tunnel later in the year, looking back at other attempts to fix something I lack faith that they will come up with something that will help in any way.

I’m not a god looper (I mean, look at my name) and I do ok for myself (43% escape rate). You don’t have to be a pro. Just knowing how to run basic tiles, where strong structures/pallets/windows are, and how to mind game a little bit is really all you need to be a decent survivor player. Remember that you’re not meant to run the killer indefinitely. I’m happy if teammates are able to run the killer a good 30-60 seconds before getting downed. Plenty of time for others to make good progress on gens.

  • Everyone is going to feel differently about what is “fair” and I understand that. Keep in mind that killers need to be incentivized to play, too. When kill rates were lower, I remember waiting in survivor queues for 15-20 minutes during peak evening hours. Now during the peak hours the survivor queue is still longer, but usually not more than 5 minutes. It’s pretty clear that BHVR has found that 40% average escape rate is the sweet spot where the number of killers vs survivors in the queues is relatively balanced across the course of a full day. Of course survivor queue are shorter during the day and longer during the evenings, but it has always been that way. But now, the peak hours survivor queue times are much more bearable.

1 … 4 5 6 7 8 … 37
