You don't need to report them, they're already punished by the DC timeout

    @TheArbiter said:

Stop clogging up bhvr's report system with non reportable offenses

To be clear. 1. I wasn't aware they weren't reportable and 2. I havent submitted reports other than the end game unsportsmanlike thing.

  • @MrSlayer said:

Does this even spite survs in any way?

Primarily missing out on challenges and having your score reduced because of them DCing

  • @tippy2k2 said:

They are punished, they have the DC penalty. You shouldn't be reporting them.

But also, why is that such a big deal? While I'd prefer that no one DC'ed in the game (short of an emergency obviously), if the killer is waiting until the end of the game to DC, why does that matter?

It's true they get the DC penalty, but when the penalty is like 2 minutes, is that really a significant penalty?

  • People really think pain resonance has a buff?

4 time max use, sure you get 25% each but you consume a token even if no gens are worked on or if a gen has much less progress than 25%. In am ideal situation yes its stronger than old pain resonance but that's with everything lining up just right (which isn't realistic to expect in many games)

  • @MrSlayer said:

It was to be expected. It's an awful character, but I'd be surprised if devs just scrapped all the content they had probably ready in advance.

Let's just hope they will focus on horror themes in the future and we won't get more Mortal Kombat cosplayers as killers.

Although I'd dig a mortal kombat killer appearing in the game (Motaro? Scorpion?)

Mortal kombat is pretty horror adjacent to me (not quite horror but not quite not horror).

    Legion- mending fest isn't fun

    Plague- puke fest isn't fun

Leatherface-primarily because of how often they camp with him.

One that I don't love to go against is pinhead. His chains can be super annoying.

sorry but if you need franklins or lightborn you are not very good

Generally it's not an issue, but if you're playing against a 4 player swf game all with flashlights it's kinda dumb not to

  • Add a couple more hooks per map. Having dead zones that you can't hook somebody gets super old. All you can do is slug them and move on or ignore that player. Please add more hooks

Add number of hooks for killer. Feels like an unnecessary lack of info.

Double killer add ons you get in bloodwebs. Some killers feel borderline worthless without decent addons whole survivors you can plus just fine without addons or items

  • @PowZapBamWoofMeow said:

1-2 more perks slots for killer.

Ya know, I never thought about this but I do think that's genuinely a good move, largely because most game you have to dedicate 1 perk to gen slowdown and another to either Franklin's or light born most of the time.

  • Parasyte would be great

Full metal alchemist could also work well

I'm still rooting for that JoJo chapter.

It'll never happen and perhaps that's for the best, but still.

    Dio would be awesome.

  • I'd be curious what killers have the least significant cosmetic options. I imagine Legion has one of the most while also having most of them pretty distinctly different.

  • @sizzlingmario4 said:

I think it’s fine for certain drawbacks to killer powers to exist especially if they are there to punish a mistake/misuse of their power. But downsides and counterplay shouldn’t come directly as a result of flashlights (or any other item) or perks. Stuff like the ability to see bear trap auras with maps should be removed, as well as Adrenaline pulling you out of the dream world.

Also, just to clarify on Leatherface, he already does lose all of his charges if he tantrums and they don’t begin recharging until the tantrum ends. So by default you have to wait for the tantrum and then afterwards it takes another 12 seconds to replenish all 3 charges (4 seconds per charge). You don’t have to have all 3 charges to use the chainsaw though.

Ahh okay that's what i thought it was. I'd like to reduce the tantrum time, keep consuming all the charges, but prolong the recharge and he has to fully recover all charges before his power is used. Ir does feel a bit excessive for how long he tantrums imo

Petition to make Trapper be able to walk over his trap, but with like, a super exaggerated animation where he slowly steps over the trap like a cartoon character.

    Lol im a fan

  • For the record, I played last night against more spirit players than any other killer. Had about 5 games against different spirit players. She seems decently popular to me at least

  • @HugTheHag said:

I think Trapper's just makes sense logically so it would feel a bit weird if it didn't work that way. Also his grunt is funny.

I think a lot of killers "power going against them" stems from balancing.

Example : Legion not seeing scratch marks and pools of blood while in Frenzy. It gives them counterplay as you can easily lose a Frenzying Legion if they start using their power too early. Otherwise, it'd be too easy to catch up to a survivor and slash them.

Or Ghostface being able to be revealed. Otherwise he could just keep stalking forever and get consistent one hit downs.

I think all killers should have counterplay, but not necessarily have downsides to their powers.

Although I do think it's weird that trappers traps impact him while freddy and Hag don't trigger their traps. I do find it a bit illogical that he would step on his trap thqt he laid lol (granted that's in the players control but still lol).

I do agree killers should have counter play in their base kit (like Trapper can have his traps disarmed is great) but I think him triggering his own traps is a unique weakness to him (and other killers have some similar example but others don't at all)

  • @Remedicist said:

If any killer needs downsides, it should be a part of the power itself in my opinion, and not tied to having a specific item. Example being how Hag's traps can be wiped away in general instead of before having to bring a flashlight.

I don't think it's fair for killer powers to be negated from being used at all when a survivor uses an item or perk. This should be applied to all killers for consistency, such as Adrenaline no longer countering Freddy's dream world effect by waking up survivors, and any other perk or item that still negates killer powers.

Yeah i think I agree with this. Having specific items counter is kinda weird. I do like the idea of a killer having some downsides to their base power but not necessarily be punished by their power (generally speaking).

For example nurses stun makes a lot of sense to me although I'm not as into Trapper stepping on his traps. I think Trapper having to set up his traps is enough of a downside to his power and stepping on them is too much.

  • I will say, nurse should have kept being impacted by flashlights between blinks. No reason to make her stronger

  • @Pulsar said:

The game is pretty good for Killer at the moment.

Killer is stronger now than it has ever been before, except right after 6.1.0

Survivor has only gotten weaker over the years, that's an objective fact.

This could be true (I took a break post Trickster and just came back so my info is mostly pretty old) while still being survivor sided even if they got weaker

  • Was there a time that most people didn't consider it survivor sided (outside of periods of pretty game breaking bugs or imbalances)?

  • Yeah she could use some love after this update...although I think that's the case for about half the killers (such as demo, hillbilly, Trapper, sadako, and myers).

  • Tbh, swf with communication about the game is already not being a nice survivor (primarily if you are strategizing etc). It kills several of the killers perks and buffs survivors/survivor perks a lot.

This one I also don't expect people to do but if you are truly aiming to be a "nice survivor" there isn't much reason to dunk on the killer (constant flashlight saves, endless loops, going places the killer can't get a hook from etc). I also think it's totally fine to play normal and try to win but if your goal is to be nice then don't dunk on nooby killers.

I don't think things have to be either nice or mean, but there is a lot of grey area. Nice could be some of the things I mentioned (and more), mean would be tbagging, toxic squad, while just playing the game with the goal to win without making it a miserable experience for the other side (aside from them losing) is the spot everyone should at minimum shoot for. It would be like if I played basketball against LeBron James 1v1 and he went all out against me. It would be awful and no one really wins in that situation.

My goal is to win a match and still have the other person willing to play the game, not make them hate the game so much that they quit or resort to toxic things as well. You can beat someone and still show respect.

Killers have a lot they can do to be nice of course

Yeah, this. If I get slugged (ie downed and left for an extended period of time at the beginning of the game, not just for the killer to chase someone close by) early in the game it pretty much always works against the killer. If the killer camps the slug, he'll need to camp a lot longer than he would a hook. If he leaves, maybe it takes slightly longer to get back up than an unhook would, but usually not, and I still have all my hook states.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3398122#Comment_3398122

    A possible compromise:

I would like to speed up the game when it is down to two survivors and one is already down, such as with an accelerated bleed out timer. This would probably result in more hatch escapes.

I'd also like to speed up the game when all the gens are done, the killer has one survivor on hook, and the other three survivors are trying for the 4k. I'd like EGC to start with the last gen finished so we don't get in a draw out of - survivors rush in, unhook, killer gets one down, killer hooks, survivors retreat and reset and go again. That would make the the overwhelming victory (4e) for the survivor harder.

I think that putting in both at the same time would be a good idea. It would make total victories less likely on either side, but also speed up the game for everyone.

I think overall i like that compromise but I do see that certain perks would need to change (like blood warden).

    Let's agree to disagree

    But I disagree completely

In that situation the killer is already winning

Oh that's a bit different. I do agree the killer still wins with a 3k but I don't like the idea of preventing a killer from being able to get an overwhelming win (just as survivors shouldn't be prevented from an overwhelming win such as all survivors live and/or no survivors being hooked). I don't like the idea preventing players from doing as well as they could on either side beyond the hatch existing. If a killer or survivors team does well they should be rewarded for it rather than punished.

  • @Rudjohns said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3397957#Comment_3397957

But assuming 2 survivors are on hook, one dying and the other one running around, the killer should just hook the dying survivor. My suggestion is to literally stop slugging, and leaving the 3rd survivor in the dying state is slugging for 4k. Also, the dying survivor still needs to recover 100% before picking themselves up

Not necessarily. There are situations where it does make sense to down the 2nd. Plus, the already downed survivor can recover up to ~97% while the other survivor is in chase so as soon as the other survivor gets downed the dying survivor would get up. This would lead to more drawn out games or the killer is just given less of a chance for a 4k than they already have. I know killers shouldn't be given 4ks every game but the hatch is already a counter to guaranteed 4ks and giving basekit unbreakable makes it so killers shouldn't even bother trying for a 4k since downing both survivors at the end is pointless. Killers would need to be compensated in some way

I completely forgot about that tbh and I even watched that on the news as it came out. You're right though, there are a lot better chapters that can come out. I still think Stephen King's IT would be amazing.

Ever since I saw that fanmade DBD trailer with James. A Janisse narrating it, I wanted that to be real.

Ohh I didn't know he did that. Link to his video?

Well they already did one book license with Sadako's addition as the pulled the book license rather than any of the films. Ghostface is just the license of the funworld mask rather than any of the scream films. So Dbd's Ghostface is both a licensed and original killer.

Slenderman's popularity has fallen off a cliff in years and honestly it never really had much in the way of defined powers or lore interesting lore. Then you have to consider that Slenderman also has tainted reputation as we have had real world violence associated with the character here in the US. That's all before you get into the issue of who do you talk to about licensing the character which has been a hassle for folks from time to time as multiple folks have made a play for claiming they created the character while the original photos are owned by a specific known person who seems to not be interested. Like even the Slenderman movie was really bad because there just isn't enough to work with and what was there was hard to reference.

At that point the devs would just be better off making a new original character unconnected to Slender lore.

Oh I had no idea sadako was taken from the book. I did know about Ghostface though. Thanks for the reminder/letting me know about sadako. That does make me feel like there's a good chance more book characters could be added

Slenderman was a suggestion every chapter every year for like... 4 years, he is still a good option. Even though the Macmillan Estate would be pretty close to his map already since it's all filled with trees.

A map with more fog would be cool, I really wish they would bring the fog back.

"See you in the fog", no you won't because there isn't any. 😴

Exactly, like I want the Krampus skin for Trapper even though I don't even play him, I know that's a waste of money but it's seasonal and I could change my mind at some point. I used to play him when the Halloween chapter first came out but I lost interest.

Yeah as much as I dislike him in the game, Nemesis deserves some love. This is a long shot but maybe a Mr. X legendary skin? Idk what other skin he could possibly get tbh.

Yeah I kind of think having another re character be a skin would be the move (such as Verdugo from re4 or Mendez from re4). Mrx could also work.

Yeah I have some seasonal skins I just dont use anymore really (such as clown Santa) but I'm still glad I have the skins.

In what situation it would be bad for the killer? Very curious

It would be bad because having survivors be able to get back up base kit actively goes against the killers goal of killing survivors. Sure, the killer could get more hooks with this but a killer can already do that (either intentionally or unintentionally). It would get annoying as a killer to try to get a 4k (not that they should get one super consistently anyways) that as soon as you down a survivor with two on hook and one downed that another pops up and unhooks everyone. It could make games drag on pretty long since as soon as you down a survivor the other one immediately gets unbreakable and pops up. There needs to be something in place to not force a killer to just play wack a mole over and over between 2 (or even all 4) survivors

  • @Rudjohns said:

Unbreakable base kit when all survivors are either in the dying state or on the hook

Also basekit when there are 2 survivors left in the game, regardless if the 2nd one is healthy or not

    That would fix everything

I think it be okay with it if there was a good trade off for the killer as well. I think everyone getting unbreakable even in that situation could be too much but I'd want something to slightly help the killer too (maybe get a noise notification when a player picks themselves up? Not too sure what exactly). I think there has to be something given to the killer if that's given to survivors (although I think something less strong for killer than unbreakable is to survivors)

  • @tippy2k2 said:

I've always been of the mind that anything could be adapted as a DBD character with enough creativity. If an adaption is done well in the game, people will buy it. BIg name IPs certainly help with the casual crowd but a well done character will sell.

Yeah I hope they branch out soon though since most of the big named movies are in already. There are a lot of good options available outside of movies

Imma buy the Pink bunny skin I think, it looks more innocent and I like playing as Susie. (Btw... I'm super surprised the devs didn't make those seasonal...)

Yeah it was very odd they didn't make it seasonal. They really should have. The huntress skin is awesome though. I do want a cool skin for each of my killers at some point. I use the pink bunny skin for Legion. I did buy the stars wesker skin. I really want nemesis to get another skin...

No, killer should not have his score impacted if someone DCs, I think that should count as a sacrifice score.

The game needs to punish players more for DCing and rewarding those more who stay in the game. Not just a 600 point "Abandoned" score.

That would be an A+ skin for Legion btw. Frank does look like a bit like him with that creepy mask. 😂 Jeff himself is 100x more scary than Legion would ever be though in my opinion.

And there's no license for him since whoever made him... 30 somethin' years ago back in Japan made him for fun, and by other people, the original picture kept getting edited, and edited and edited... until the picture became more and more cursed. lol

So we really don't know who actually made him.

I do like the Hunk skin a lot but I aready have the bunny costume (which I naturally used on easter) . I do wish hunk had more unique voice lines though

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3397907#Comment_3397907

Well the thing is with dying on hook early on, the game can't really detect if it's intentional or not. The devs intentionally made it so you have to do certain actions to keep the entity off you, and you get chances to escape the hook yourself since the beginning of DBD time.

What if my mouse or keyboard fails? Or what if I accidentally miss skillchecks since they get so small? The game can't say "You did that on purpose, you get penalized". DC should be punished more for sure though.

Yeah dying early on purpose I wouldnt say should be given a temp ban or anything but I do think the killer shouldn't have his score reduced because of it

  • @Mystic_Mizu said:

People nowadays wouldn't care as much as the more mainstream things.

Stranger Things was very mainstream when the chapter came out, Resident Evil started making their remakes, Halloween was still making movies... that's not the case for all of them, like Pinhead, Silent Hill, etc. They were just heavily suggested by the players. From other medias though, creepypasta characters would be it for me.

Jeff The Killer would be awesome, but his power would fit more in with the Legion than anyone else.

Sirenhead, he could imitate sounds that survivors make to lull them into a false sense of security, and when he finds a survivor, his siren sounds.

This does make me think about SCPs that could be good options as well

  • @Mystic_Mizu said:

Exactly, like when the green glyphs show themselves after the EGC starts.

Or rescuing/healing survivors after the EGC starts.

    Killer says, "Nope... denied".

Yeah I hate that too. Dcing should both be punished more and shouldn't negatively impact the killers score (with likely buffing survivors getting points for players quitting). I'd also say the same goes for players who intentionally die on hook early on

  • If I get slugged along with everyone else, I crawl away. 6/10 times I'm found anyways, 3/10 I bleed out, and 1/10 I find the hatch and live.

  • No mithwr should get a rework. It's a dumb perk and I hate getting sandbagged in solo play because people choose it. I'd be okay with it if it gave another benefit (such as an additional hook state for that survivor let's say)

  • My biggest concern would be people trying to do challenges miss out because of players conceding and players already quitting kills the killers score which is frustrating. I would want dcs and such to count as 3 individual hooks per DC to help killers BP score

  • I recommend looking into Terrorscape as a board game as well. It does feel more similar to the DBD videogame than the DBD boardgame imo.

  • I feel like I see spirit a good bit honestly. I havent seen much twins, demogorgon, or hillbilly though
