There should be a concede button under limited circumstances

There are some situations that you can run into that end up being quite frustrating, and in my opinion could be solved by adding a concede button in the pause menu that would only appear when certain criteria have been met.

For Survivor, one of the most annoying things that can happen to you is a 4 minute bleedout. There really isn't any reason for this to be in the game as it is, as it only serves to drag the game out, usually for BM purposes. The concede button should appear after being slugged for an extended period of time (or maybe if the bleedout bar has been depleted by a certain amount), let's say about a minute. Pressing it would cause the Survivor to instantly die, and award points to the killer as if they were sacrificed.

For Killer, a common annoyance is getting BMed at the exit gates. You can go hit them out, but it is pretty annoying, and getting tbagged at the gates can be unpleasant for some people. For Killer, the concede button would appear once the Endgame Collapse has started, and would cause all Survivors currently still in the trial to immediately escape (even if they are hooked, so the killer can't get an instant kill). This would remove the need to force Survivors out of the gate and allow everyone to get to the next match much faster.

I think this idea would cut down on opportunities for BM pretty significantly. Both of the situations I've described tend to make the game more unpleasant for people, and are in my opinion unnecessary.

What do you think?

  • I don’t think a concede button to end a game early so you don’t have to see survivors in the exit gate is unnecessary. It is not hard to just push them out. Take the L and go next.

As for being slugged, I’m kind of impartial to it. I’m overall not a fan of giving concede / give up buttons, but being slugged for the whole timer can be annoying.

Why would a killer use the surrender button while a survivor is on a hook to have them instantly escape just because they're annoyed at survivors standing at the gate. I don't think any killer would do that tbh but interesting thought. EGC is 4 minutes with someone on hook, and 2 minutes while no one is hooked, it's not even that bad.

There is a reason for slugging to be in the game though, especially if there are only 2 people left in the game. To secure kills and to use them as bait for other survivors to come pick them up. It's not fun at all but it's a strategy clearly intended by the devs, just like tunneling and camping... it sucks but it's a thing.

I personally say no to this, would give survivors more of a reason to just give up, leaving their team at a disadvantage because the game didn't go their way. If being slugged as a survivor or waiting out EGC as a killer is that annoying to you, just tab out and do something else.

The idea is that a Killer can't use the Concede button to quickly secure a kill. You're not meant to use it if you're trying to secure a kill, it's meant to be so you don't have to push the Survivors out of the gates.

I'm not saying to remove slugging either, it's just there's not really a legitimate gameplay reason to bleed someone out for 4 minutes other than BM. If it's a 2v1 then it should probably go to a Hatch game anyway, no need to drag the game out for minutes at a time.

I mean, the whole idea is to cut down on BM opportunities. The concede button is literally a "Take the L and go next" button. That's the point.

I'm not understanding the killer part correctly then. What do you mean by that? How would it work if someone is still on the hook. The person on the hook would immediately escape? Then no killer would use it that's what I'm saying. Sacrifice points.

I don't think there is a reason for survivors to give up early anyway, slugged or not. If it's an important enough reason, just DC and take the penalty. You will bleed out and the game will eventually end anyway. Rarely do killers ever leave all slugged survivors on the ground just to bleed out, they want their hook points and sacrifice points. That's happened to me, literally maybe only 3 times in my history of DBD. Survivors aren't obligated to get a chance at hatch btw, especially if they performed badly. BM will be in a game no matter what, there's no preventing it.

If someone is on the hook, then they would immediately escape. It's meant to be used if you've already got a kill and the Survivors won't leave, or if you don't want to bother with camping someone for 2 minutes for an extra kill.

While it's true that BM will always exist in games, you can limit the capacity to which it can be done. These are two pretty common complaints that can be solved quite reasonably.

I don't think the killer should have that much control over the end game though, just because the killer doesn't want to camp. That's denying the survivors the opportunity at trading out hooks or unhooking for BP. There are challenges that include unhooking after the EGC starts.

There are just too many things that would clash with this, and too many opportunities for the EGC would be taken away. People would let the devs know they hate it in the forums, and they would take it away.

The killer already has the ability to deny endgame hook trades though. You can't unhook a Survivor if the killer doesn't hook them in the first place.

Yeah, they sure do... but that's completely preventing any opportunity, survivors have an opportunity to do it and just ending the game with a push of a button is not a solution. Completely ending the opportunities for EGC to just prevent BM? Slugging will never go away either... unfortunately. If you're a survivor, just crawl out, or tab out. Nothing else you can do besides DC.

Like I said, BM will never go away so trying to prevent it by pretty much throwing EGC out the window? No.

You're assuming every killer will always instantly end the game when the EGC starts, which won't be the case. You've even contradicted yourself by saying "no killer will ever use this option" and "the EGC will be thrown out the window", those are literally polar opposites. People will still play the EGC for extra points and the opportunity for an endgame snowball.

  • My biggest concern would be people trying to do challenges miss out because of players conceding and players already quitting kills the killers score which is frustrating. I would want dcs and such to count as 3 individual hooks per DC to help killers BP score

Exactly, like when the green glyphs show themselves after the EGC starts.

Or rescuing/healing survivors after the EGC starts.

    Killer says, "Nope... denied".

Yeah I hate that too. Dcing should both be punished more and shouldn't negatively impact the killers score (with likely buffing survivors getting points for players quitting). I'd also say the same goes for players who intentionally die on hook early on

Well the thing is with dying on hook early on, the game can't really detect if it's intentional or not. The devs intentionally made it so you have to do certain actions to keep the entity off you, and you get chances to escape the hook yourself since the beginning of DBD time.

What if my mouse or keyboard fails? Or what if I accidentally miss skillchecks since they get so small? The game can't say "You did that on purpose, you get penalized". DC should be punished more for sure though.

Yeah dying early on purpose I wouldnt say should be given a temp ban or anything but I do think the killer shouldn't have his score reduced because of it

No, killer should not have his score impacted if someone DCs, I think that should count as a sacrifice score.

The game needs to punish players more for DCing and rewarding those more who stay in the game. Not just a 600 point "Abandoned" score.

Yep I totally agree with you
