The best thing you can do is to equip "off the record" if you want to be completely silent.
You are completely silent when you are injured as long as the perk is active and that is long enough to heal you or find someone to heal you.
-
Now and then.
The problem is, I intentionally play in a way that I don't kill anyone. I just want 8 hooks and then let everyone go. But since I don't farm but play seriously until I have 8 hooks, the survivors don't know that. And when we're in endgame and I didn't have a kill, there were times when some stayed no matter how hard I tried to make them go. I do not know why either. Maybe because I never slug, camp or tunnel (because I don't want to kill anyone and try to avoid people committing hook suicide or dc) and that's why people seem to enjoy the matches with me and want to gift me kills when I haven't had any whens the gates are open. It´s cute xD
I do it myself from time to time too. Just not that often. In solo queue, every escape counts, because the lower your MMR, the worse and more frustrating the matches.
That's why I have to like the killer very much in order for me to do that. There once was a Billy. He really struggled (which I can understand, I suck with billy myself) and yet he played totally fair. I was so impressed that I just wanted to make him happy. He did the same what I always do as a killer, he tried to get me to leave and didn't wanted to sacrifice me, but I stayed with him until the timer ran out.
After that we had a very sweet chat. I will never forget you, Billy !

Sometimes, when I just feel like it, I'll take Bond, Kindred, and open handed with an exhaustion perk (usually lithe).
I love the amount of info I get through it.
I will keep kindred with the new survivor hud too.
Sometimes it's important to know which direction the killer will go after a hook, and thereby make a decision as to whether I'm safe on my gen, or if I should be more careful.

ok this is some impressive reaching to try to prevent survivors from getting this much needed buff
Did you have a bad day or what?
Explain a point in my text where I'm trying to prevent the HUD. I'm a solo queue survivor main, looking forward to the HUD and also love doing challenges. I saw a discussion elsewhere and wanted to discuss what people had said there.
Is this a discussion forum or not?
I have explicitly written that again below. I love it when people just read the first post, interpret something completely wrong and then assume absolutely stupid stuff.
When you're in a bad mood, it's better not to say anything at all than to accuse other people of BS they never wrote.
-
I think some misunderstand me and think I wouldn't want the HUD myself. That is absolutely not the case. I'm a solo survivor and I'm sick of how hard solo queuing is right now. I'm really looking forward to the HUD, I see it as a great help in making more efficient decisions.
I just wanted to know what you guys think about people who have this kind of mindset and want to punish their teammates when they want to focus on something other than gens.
For my part I will never become a competitive player.
I like the rift and feel rewarded when I manage to complete my challenges and earn rewards. And I won't change that either, even if a few idiots think you aren´t allowed to do anything except gens and escape.
I try my best to help and work as a team, but besides the main objective I will also do my challenges as always.
I can´t wait to have the HUD in live and I hope it will make us solo survivors suffer a bit less.
-
Changing BBQ was a big mistake.
There were always people tunneling at 5 gens but after the BBQ change it got worse, at least in my matches.
-
It is totally improper to lose a pip for something that is out of your control.
I don't know what BHVR can't or won't see in that.
It would be okay (if you want to see pips and grades as a reward for performance) to lose pips when you underperform.
But if as a survivor you get tunneled or camped out of the game with 5 gens up, or your teammates disconnect early or commit hook suicide, or if you play killer and the survivors disconnects, then it has nothing to do with poor performance on your part, it has to do with with things totally out of your own control.
De-pips in a game that has so much RNG is grossly outdated and unfair.
-
Yes, maybe I'll manage then to escape more than 2 out of 20 matches. :p
But as you can already see from another thread, there are already killer mains (and I deliberately say mains because I think these people only play one role) who are crying because solo will no longer be an super easy stomp.
I just said what my survivor statistics look like. If I play Killer (and I am far from very good, I am a casual player) I could win almost every match at the moment. But it bores me. So I only go for 8 hooks (and I get 8 hooks without problem) and then let everyone go.
But of course, it's apparently a disaster that solo survivors are getting a little help now, and maybe surviving in the end every now and then.
-
lol , I don´t have this in live matches but it kicked me out of a custom match with bots earlier.

tbf any toolbox is good with a bnp
this is a bad suggestion though
Maybe.
I just see a general problem with this type of post.
They are asking for BNP and toolboxes to be removed because a gen is far too quickly finished with it. Unfun for the killer. I get it.
At the same time, however, hard tuneling at 5 gens (especially in solo queue) , where the game is over for a survivor just as quickly and they couldn't do anything, this is completely okay.
I'm always open to suggestions for changes. Not when they're one-sided, though, because that's just "US VS THEM" mentality again, which I hate so much.
I'm totally open to ideas about naming problems on both sides and possible solutions to make it more fun for both roles. But they need to stop the "us vs them" BS .
-
Imagine complaining about BROWN items.
Now I´ve seen everything :D
-
Wesker and Nemesis.
I've been a Resident Evil fan for more than 2 decades, it shouldn't come as a surprise.
And I love Wesker's voice lines. Especially when he finds a survivor in a locker "You can't hide forever" xDDD
Playing him always gives me a good laugh.
-
I am german as well and I have problems in german and english. There is no language that seems to get better through the filter , at least for me.
Me trying to say (in english) : " I wish you good luck in your next matches"
looks like that in the PGC " I ---- ---- ---- ---- -- ---- ---- matches"
and the other player probably thinks I am swearing at them like crazy. xD
I hardly write anything anymore except GG in the chat , because it´s just not worth it due to the censoring.

If there wouldn´t be kindred in solo queue I would never touch this game again

Unreleated ? You would be surprised how many times after a toxic match I would still play nice only to see another group of toxic survivors and regret going easy just to be nice. Once it becomes too repetitive .. the killers will return the favor. Tunneling , camping and slugging are on the table when a line is crossed.
Now I am fully convinced this forum is full of teenagers or man-childs.
US VS THEM .... at ANY cost. LMFAO
-
Oh, I have another perk idea.
If the killer hits me on the hook more than 1 time... the perk will automatically let me escape from the hook and give me 3 minutes of endurance :p
BM works on both sides and if BM should be punished then they should punish BOTH sides.
Or... you stop caring.
When I first started playing Killer, teabagging really bothered me and made me SO angry.
So angry that I threw whole matches just to get that one survivor.
Eventually, the longer I played, I started to care less and less.
I find it childish when a team waits at the exit just to show they've won (surprise, I already know :p ) , so I think these teams are probably teenagers between 13 and 16 and well, that's how half children behave. There may also be adults who mentally haven't got past their teenage years. I don't take these people seriously either.
Either I use the time to get something else done or I chase them out. I don't have to wait for the whole EGC if I don't want to, I can just chase them out.
Don´t let them get to you with their childish exit- gate games. That´s what they want.
When I play survivor I don't do any of those things. I only wait at the exit when I know that a teammate isn't there yet to see if I can still help or not. Because we are a team.
-
I've only been in Iri ranks once as a survivor. Iri IV. 3 months after I bought the game. After that never again. I stopped caring.
I've found that focusing on pips is extremely unhealthy for me.
I went into every single match with tension, almost fear that something outside of my control would happen that would cost me my previously hard-earned pips.
When I was close to the finish line and only one match away from progressing to the next level, and then something that wasn't my fault caused me to de-pip, I felt miserable. Angry, sad, depressed.
Then everything started all over again. In every match I only thought about pips, which put me in a state of constant stress. Which I also noticed physically. Do you know that feeling when you are nervous before an important appointment? That uncomfortable feeling of pressure in your stomach, trembling, sweaty hands? That was a permanent condition in every single match when pips still bothered me.
Then I stopped caring and realized that I can play so much more freely. No more anxiety about the outdated pip system.
1 million bp ? Nice reward, but honestly. I can earn them in normal matches in not even a long time. Playing to Iri 1 takes longer than earning 1 million BP in normal matches. Since the rework, where the blood web has become cheaper and you unlock all perks for every character with prestige 1, BP are no longer as important to me as they used to be.
Meanwhile, my focus is on shards and rift fragments for fancy cosmetics. I earn both by playing casual games without much effort and stress. Even if I can't get a lot of stuff done in one match, I still get shards and fragments.
I don't get past silver ranks most of the time, and I don't care.
What does rank mean? Nothing. Matchmaking is unaffected by this and doesn't work as it should no matter what you do.
-
A not inconsiderable proportion of the people in this game have an extreme need for attention. I mean, are you missing something in real life? Why do you have to go to a forum to get validation for how awesome you are because you're toxic to other toxic people? People with this mindset are the biggest problem in this community, which makes every 2 matches an absolute shitshow. Most of the time it's exactly these people who want to punish the players in the next match because other players teased them a match before.
Now go and be proud of yourself ... nurse main ... lol
-
I understand that so well. That's one thing that not only annoys me, it really pisses me off.
Not everyone has time to play DBD for hours, 4 minutes may not sound like a lot but when you have limited time to play it is a total waste of time. In the 4 minutes in which I'm on the ground and can't do anything, I could already be in the next match.
I have no problem getting slugged if the killer can see the last survivor. But if they have to find the last survivor first and has absolutely no idea where they are, I'm just pissed.
Fine, give killers basekit "blood warden", that would be a deal I could live with without any problems, but this slugging for 4K has to stop.
Or as an alternative solution, give me a "surrender" button that I can press after about 90 seconds so I can move on to the next match.
Or remove the hatch. I don't care, I just don't want to lie on the floor for 4 whole minutes and waste valuable time.

ok, but when on the way is their memory ereased?
And by what? I can imagine it at the sacrifice, through the animation where you can see a part of the entity. But how does it happen after they escape through the gate?
Sry, I'm thinking too much right now, I have nothing to do xD

Escape challenges, only with specific perk , I am so desperate right now that I consider begging 3 people on steam to help me for 1 match to escape

Well I’d say a majority of KILLERS feel the goal of the Killer role is to kill the survivors. And there are no innocent survivors.
Hey, that is fine. I never said that all players should play like I do. Everyone is different and everyone has differnet goals or ideas of fun or what a win is.
I just tried to explain why we are facing so different survivors. It´s a MMR thing, I guess. The higher, the more swf and sweatlords.
-
I can not confirm. Mr nice guy is my favorite playstyle. I only kill when I have a challenge. I don't farm, I play seriously, go for 8 hooks and then let everyone go. For me, winning doesn´t mean kills, pips and going to red ranks, for me winning means when all 5 players are having fun.
At the end I get a lot of BP, shards and fragments and the survivors too and everyone is happy. The survivors are always grateful and the endgame chats are always wholesome.
But maybe that's the difference. I ONLY play like this.
Maybe you've had too much 4K in the past, and are now in an MMR with more sweatlords around.
That´s why I've never been interested in getting into higher MMR as a killer because I don't want to face those sweatlords whose sole purpose is to annoy the killer player.
-
OMG, map offerings. How cruel.
Well, they can remove map offerings from the game, but then they should also remove some survivor rift challenges at the same time, for example "fall x times from a great height while being chased"
This is a challenge for which I (as a solo survivor without swf) use map offerings every time because I don't feel like waiting ages for the map RNG to be generous to me. If these challenges don't exist anymore, I don't care.

I'd love to spectate this as I'm taking my well deserved break from DBD, or can you or one of your friends record the matches and upload them to youtube? If someone is as confident in themselfes as OP, I have to see them play. (If he contacts you at all, otherwise it would be very embarrassing for him) :p
-
GUYS, I FINALLY GOT IT !!
I just did all the killer challenges first like someone suggested to calm me down. This allowed me to bypass the escape challenge and the stun challenge for the moment, and then by completing all but the last 2 survivor challenges, I was motivated to try again. First I got the Escape challenge and then I got the "Stun to collect void energy" challenge too which I thought was even more impossible to beat, in 2 matches.
With a Pallet, Head On and DS. I've finally completed the whole event rift and the current tome.
Now I'm taking a break from DBD until the current tome continues. It felt like a job the last few days.

Play in the earlier time of day and not at night. I couldn't do it last night because killers were merciless (not that I blame them) and I'm usually the weak link in the group. I played this morning and got both escapes. Also, if you're on steam, change your name to "Need2Escape4Challenge". I found, in the past, that there are a lot of killers willing to help with challenges as long as it's not interfering with the ones they're doing.
Unfortunately, I only manage to play DBD in the evening and not during the day. And yes, I tried the one with a name change (not the same as your suggestion but similar) yesterday out of sheer desperation. Did not help.
Meanwhile, I'm about to hide the entire match from first second to the end with Mikaela's hatch perk. I hate playing like this, I feel bad for the other survivor players, I hate being selfish and useless. But I don't see any other chance to escape and do this challenge other than never to show myself, neither on gens, nor near hooks, nor anywhere else.

@Mandy said:
Whilst all the suggestions of the perks are great, individual playstyle really does need to be taken into consideration for this type of challenge and perks that work with that playstyle are likely to be better.
Whilst yes, there's definitely perks that help you avoid the killer - there's no point in using those perks if you're not going to play super stealthily (I can't play stealthily for example so I use perks that help my particular playstyle). Organically if you are losing that many matches, your MMR will drop and you'll find yourself being matched against (and with) players more of your skill level which will give you more opportunity to escape your matches.
Still don't have it.
I understand what you're trying to explain here, but something doesn't seem to work quite correctly in reality as your team intended.
With the rate at which I've been losing since the big "change meta" patch, my survivor MMR should be way down. And yet I keep getting killers that I shouldn't be matched with in any way.
I think it was a mistake (at least for casual players) that you expanded the matchmaking concept back then, so that higher mmr players get more variety and can therefore also be matched with players who are further down. This seems to happen to me almost constantly. More experienced killers are matched with us who are way better just to give them a little more variety. That feels unfair.

You're not actually stuck though. The first two killer challenges are laughably easy in comparison. Even if you don't like to play killer, you're not stuck.
Yeah, but I need to complete the rift :/
I mean the actual rift, not the event rift. This time I really really want the cosmetics in the premium path but rift progress is so slowly if you don´t do all the challenges for both sides. I don´t have time to play all day DBD so I try to get as many fragments as fast as I can and the easiest way are challenges (except BS challenges like that).
-
Thanks for the help but nah, I´m done. I´m more than done. This ######### challenge completely ruined my mood.
Thx BHVR that only really good players can finsih the rift andf get the cosmetics. Give us at least 2 paths to choose if it comes to challenges like that and not let us stuck forever with such a BS challenge for solo queue. Or FIX YOUR MATCHMAKING so that I can face killers on my level and not super sweaty tryhards.
-
Please folks, don't put all Mikaelas in the same drawer.
It's not the character, it's the player. MIkaela is my main and I'm a team player. I don't know how often I end up being the one who is sacrificed when an exit is already open because I can't bring myself to leave a teammate behind.
Yesterday I had a match with a 3 man swf against a plaque. They have done everything wrong that can be done wrong against this killer, and no, they weren´t new. They were always on the hook. I did gens, I unhooked, I was constantly on the move. In the end it was just me and an ace left, then I got knocked down and the killer left me on the ground looking for the ace. Well, instead of helping me like I've been helping him and his friends the whole game, he hid and wanted to wait for me to bleed out. When the killer realized that Ace wasn't coming to help me, he picked me up and let me wiggle free and then started looking for Ace. But he hid like a rat. At some point I got so bored that I ran into the basement and signaled the killer with a hand sign that he should please down me and hook me.
It's not always just Mikaela's that are the useless part of the match and it´s annoying if some people doodge lobbys just because they see a specific character and assume they are bad. We are not all the same! Thx !

@GoodBoyKaru said:
Playing in a premade doesn't suddenly make you a god looper. They'd be running you almost as well in solo. SWF makes no difference to that regard.
Yes, of course, good loopers would also run the killer well in solo queue, but the difference in premades is that 4 good players team up. In solo queue, a good looper is still less of a problem if the rest of the random team isn't that good. But if there are already 4 very good players in a premade , all on the same skill level, then you simply can't compare it.
And I'm not a killer main, I play way more of survivor, just annoyed by swf too because I have the feeling that the devs don't help us solos because otherwise swf will benefit from it too.
-
Well ... I am a Mikaela who is cleansing totems xD
I have more fun with other perks than with boons so I almost never bring them. At this point the majority of players should have unlocked the boons , so if they want them they can bring them themselfes.
But if I am the only mikaela in a match and I hear the noise of a boon I feel pain because I know the killer will blame ME for it.
-
The only problem I have with franklins is that it effectively disables your "White Ward" offering.
I have no problem losing a valuable item for this round, but I do have a problem losing it completely despite white ward. That's why I use this offering. Also, the killer player shouldn't mind if the survivor gets their item back at the end of the match after the result screen, unless it's a jerk whose only reason to play DBD is to make other people feel miserable.
-
You know what ?
Tonight I have slugging after slugging killers, from the start of the match. Not like endgame, from the start. All solo queue matches tonight were pure humaillation where the killer played like the biggest dick on earth. They slug, leave me on the ground to try to slug the other survivors too, then as soon as I get picked up, they come straight back, down my again, instead of hooking me they leave and let me again lay there on the ground to slug the other survivors .... rinse and repeat. And the same happens with my teammates.
Yeah, I am more than pissed right now and I can´t wait for the ######### unbreakable basekit. Or bots .... kinda don´t want to play against people anymore, this game seems to attract sociopaths or people with other mental issues.
-
well... otz is live on twitch right now, playing DBD ... just saying ^^
-
But maybe they also noticed that solo queue definitely needs help earlier than 2023 and they did some QoL changes for solo queue, which were actually only planned for 2023 earlier and want to test them now in a PTB? Actually solo queue should be the highest priority for BHVR.
-
yeah, bleeding out or hitting on hook sucks... but what I hate most is if I face a trickster and they not only let ypou bleed out but also constantly throws his knives at you while you´re bleeding out.
Everytime this happens I can´t help but think that this perosn has to be serious problems in real life
-
I'm trying to get some more points (totems, chests) before I leave. But I don't go to the killer and click on him with flashlights or anything like that.
I'm more of a casual player and I know how it feels to get stomped on both sides, it also happens to me as a survivor every time I play, not oly as killer. Sometimes I feel like DBD just isn't for the casuals who don't want to spend all their free time learning to play like a god.
If you are really at a point where you want to give up in a trial, then open your browser or your phone and surf the internet/watch videos/listen to music. That's what I do as a killer when I've run out of motivation to keep playing, but also don't feel like staring at the screen until the survivors are done.
-
So the killer should automatically win after killing 2 out of 4 survivors ?
Alright, let's do it....enjoy your 2 hour killer queue ...
lmfao , this forum is hilarious sometimes

That's actually kinda cute LOL.
"I swear I'm not camping! I just can't freaking find the stairs!"
Exact same scenario happened to me when i first started playing. But I was playing Spirit on Midwich and had a few beers so it was a disaster finding the stairs and it was all my fault. I kept passing a person on the hook but I just seriously didn't know where I was going.
This still happens to me from time to time in midwich. RPD isn't that bad because I've played RE2 (original and remake) for hundreds of hours and know the map and all the staircases very well, but in midwich I still stuggle to find the stairs every now and then, whether I'm playing killer or survivor. :'D
-
Hm ... I had the last 3 days a escape rate of 0 % in solo queue .... same goes for my teammates ... killer 4k´d every match .... no, at some point I can´t blame anyone anymore.
-
yes same
I played yesterday and I've had enough already.
I'm a little bored right now and normally I'd like to play right now, but when I think of wesker I just can't bring myself to do it. It's just too much.
I was outright shocked yesterday when Ghostface suddenly came around the corner in RPD :'D
-
Wow...when the perk runs out, at least cut down the time it takes on a gene to activate it again. It's taking far too long.
I used this for the blinding rift challenges because I suck with flashlights. Now I am really pissed off.

I hope I don't Kobe against legion
That's exactly what happened to me in my last match a minute ago.
Legion Game, 2 teammates gave up on the hook, the third teammate went down and got hooked. And then Legion found me, we had a little chase and then I went down too. They also hooked me and stood in front of the vault next to it looking at my hook. I just wanted to get out of the match faster and then yes, on the second kobe I was free from the hook.
And then Legion stood there, I stood there. We looked at each other.
And then they ran away, I followed, we ran about 2 minutes through the map, doing some silly BS and then they let me go through the hatch.
I guess they just respected my random kobe. Was a funny experience. :D

What time of day do you play? I play almost every night usually with a good friend of mine that I have played with for years, you are more than welcome to join us, the game is a lot more fun and balanced actually having teammates that know what they're doing and won't just abandon you on hook.
I mostly play in the evenings/nights IF I play.
Right now I have the feeling that I need a break again, at leats for today. It just frustrates me enormously not even getting any further in the rift, I also want the cosmetics.
I really appreciate your offer. It´s glad to see that there are still wholesome people in this community.
But you have read what my problem is. I can't go in a voice call with strangers, I wouldn't get a word out. And since you and your friend have known each other for years, it's even worse for me because it makes me feel even more like the stupid outsider.
And I'm afraid of playing badly (I'm not a good looper) and disappointing my fellow players.
-
Thanks for the responses, guys.
The problem is, I've already taken several breaks since the last patch. Once even for a very long time. But as soon as I go back to DBD, I relive the exact same scenario that made me need the break in the first place, and instantly feel just as stressed as I did before the break.
I'm not one of those players who absolutely has to win (aka escape). For me, it's a win when I've had fun. Then I have no problem saying "GG" in the PGC after getting killed and mean it completely honestly.
But fun? Fun is reserved for swf groups only. At least it seems so after the last patch. Nothing can get swf into trouble, but solos suffer. Because BHVR has to be careful with the buffs so that swf doesn't get even stronger and it's unfair to the killer. And because BHVR has to hold back the buffs for solo because of swf, I feel that SWF also breaks the game for me as a solo surv. Not just for killers.
Of course it's always easy to say "Then just play SWF" but it's not always that easy in life. I have mental problems when it comes to socializing. Call it some kind of social phobia. So basically I don't have any friends outside of my family and I can't imagine voice chatting with strangers. I'm too nervous and shy for that. So no chance of swf for me.
The bad thing is that I actually like playing PVP games. Because I don't have contact with other people in real life outside of my family, I at least like to interact with other people through multiplayer games. Even if you don't speak, it's the feeling of doing something together with other people.
That's why I can't manage to give up DBD completely. But I've now completely given up hope for improvement for solo queue and with it the hope that the fun will come back in DBD. :/
-
The biggest problem for me is the matchmaking which doesn't work at all.
It should actually work that way that you play with players who have a similar skill. For example, if as a survivor you lose almost every match because you are not good at looping, you would need to be paired with a working matchmaking with killers who are also not that experienced and strong.
But I have to say I have the feeling that since the last patch, where killer's basekit was buffed, there hasn't been any matchmaking at all.
When I play survivor (which I absolutely hate these days) I escape maybe 5% of all my matches. I'm a better killer player, but queues are too long and I don´t have that much time to wait. I never was a great survivor, I've never been good at looping and staying in chases for long. So my survivor MMR is dropping rapidly.
The only thing that seems to work about matchmaking is that after the mmr goes down you get weaker teammates. But your opponent (the killer in this case) is way above our skill level every time. They know all the mindgames, they know all the anti-loop tactics, and it's crystal clear that we should never be paired with players like that.
When the matchmaking tests were done back then, I had the best time I've ever had in DBD on 2 days. Surprisingly I found out at the end that these 2 days were the days when the old matchmaking (grade based) was done. And I've only been playing the game since October 2021, which means I doesn't knew the old system at all. Still, I had the most fun with it in testing, and I hate SBMM with all my heart.

You can't force someone to play who doesn't want to. Of course you can say "why does the person start the game in the first place", but that's not the point here.
If you rescue a person who no longer wants to play, then that person will either remain motionless under the hook and go afk
or they'll run straight to the killer
or they will sandbag the other teammates for the rest of the match out of revenge.
And if you wanted to introduce a BP penalty for trying to unhook yourself (or committing suicide), then at least 2 perks would be completely useless as that's what they're for.
And the person still wouldn't want to continue playing and after they got unhooked they would either go afk, run to the killer, or sandbag the teammates, if they were forced to stay on the hook and get saved in order not to lose their BP.
