Then they should give him some tweaks first.
I'm the worst looper in the world. After 1200 hours, I can't even last 20 seconds in a chase in a public match, but I can loop the trapper bot in the tutorial match for 5 gens.
I've been wanting killer bots for customs for ages, so I can learn tiles on different maps and improve my looping, but the trapper bot would be absolutely useless for my purposes, at least if ihe stays as stupid as he is in the tutorial match.

How long were your killer queue times ? Yesterday I still had to wait 30 minutes for one killer match, I played 3 survivor matches in this time.
Didn´t try it today , maybe I will later. But yeah, for me it feels already better just because you don´t have to sit there and stare at your screen or watch videos half an hour but you are allowed to do anything and you can do survivor milestones while waiting, so I really like this new feature.

I'm sorry to hear that however, cheer up. You probably haven't found your niche as a survivor, which is normal.
I had a buddy of mine that just started it out playing the game. I told them the basics of the game and did custom matches for them to get the feel of it. After everything was done, i explained to them which style they felt comfortable with (Gen, Looping or Healer). They said gen. I told them some good gen perks to use as a beginner and they were off. They got better more and more as they continued to play.
They are not a great looper but, you would be surprised the amount of times they looped the heck out of killer (1-2 gens). Other matches, we get demolished. It all depends on the perks, add-ons and communication you have as a team.
Now, a question for you. What do you feel comfortable with, playing as a survivor? What are your strong points as a survivor and what is your weakness?
To answer your question. I feel most comfortable with gens and healing.
Actually, I feel comfortable with anything that isn't chase.

am I tripping? I suggested one of my favourite builds consisting of Scene Partner, Troubleshooter, Resilience and Object days ago but I don't see it here. maybe the build is too powerful to share O_o
The build sounds fun, but also like a chase build. And that's my absolute weakness, and one I want to avoid if possible.
For me, a stealth build would be better, with killer aura reading perks, so I can avoid the killer as much as possible and do gens.

Anytime. I know the community has a lot of toxicity in it. That is one reason why we often try to get custom matches going, so that we can play together as a band of friendly people from around the world. The banter alone makes it so much more enjoyable, especially if a certain Billy is going out chasing foxy Yui's. cough cough @HeroLives
And once again, you are more than welcome to join us for some friendly games :)
Thanks again for the suggestion to play with you, I really appreciate it.I think I might need more time for something like this. I'm a bit socially anxious when I don't know people personally, especially with voice chat. That's why I play solo queue. I hope this gets better at some point, because it's definitely more fun to play with others.

I’m not a god looper (I mean, look at my name) and I do ok for myself (43% escape rate). You don’t have to be a pro. Just knowing how to run basic tiles, where strong structures/pallets/windows are, and how to mind game a little bit is really all you need to be a decent survivor player. Remember that you’re not meant to run the killer indefinitely. I’m happy if teammates are able to run the killer a good 30-60 seconds before getting downed. Plenty of time for others to make good progress on gens.
So if I remember correctly, you also commented in my own (I feel stupid when I play DBD) thread , so you know HOW bad I am. I can´t memorize tiles, NOT AT ALL. And I can´t mindgame because I panic as soon as I get chased. 15 seconds is all I can get out of a chase, I don´t want repeat everything I already said in my own thread but yeah, it is what it is and as long as there is that much tunneling right of the start I won´t have fun because I can´t last in chase and can´t play the match at all if I am the first one being found.

Hey, I've replied to a few comments, I can't reply to all of them, I don't want to bloat the thread too much and take away space at the top for more important posts.
But I'm grateful to each and every one of you for your replies. I've read them all and am trying to take some of the tips with me and internalize them. I also feel less bad or stupid now.
It's nice to see that in a community that's pretty toxic, there are still enough people with heart who don't try to drag you down further, but are genuinely trying to help and build someone up. Thanks guys !

People are blessed in different ways.
I'm not going to hype you up or dress you down. You can certainly get better at the game - although I don't think it's going to be from an intellectual stand point, but more of a place of deeper inner peace.
I have a friend, she's an INCREDBILE person. She's funny, intellectual, she has this amazing writing prose and admiration for poetry. She's a gorgeous mother of two with a great husband, a great life. She works very hard for her family and has two part time jobs she pours her life into - but she still finds time to socialize with friends. She is an anchor to all, a bedrock of support, and stalwart in the face of adversity. This woman stands up for what she believes in, isn't afraid to speak, to care, to love, and to hold a hand out for others. She plays many games and could yap to you about Final Fantasy 14 for hours - she is a master and could run circles around my head about that game any day. She has seen darkness, and has the fiery light of life deep in her bones. She is a great friend, a powerful wife, a loving mother, a strong pillar of her communities, softly spoken, strong in her defense, and wonderful in every way I could summon words to describe to you.
She also cannot last 12 seconds in chase and screams like a little girl when she is being chased by the killer. She isn't new. This is as good as she is going to get at the game for a LONG time.
There is absolutely NO judgement towards her. She also tries her best and is often lost or confused - or I'll say "You go left I go right" and after she says "Got it" the second the killer rounds the corner she goes right and we both are horribly murdered. We're both laughing to the point of tears and yelling in levity as she cries out "I GOT SCARED IM SORRRYYY"
You're absolutely not stupid, dumb, or intellectually challenged. What you're facing isn't even an intellectual thing. It's a primal fragment that comes up and overrides your ability to be rational, and it's the same thing that turns my bedrock-of-society, mother-of-two best friend into a murmuring puddle of humanity sloshing from side to side in a confused, screaming panic as a hag walks up to her casually.
And while I use her as an example (With my massive, throbbing, high IQ of 98 brain) I've been a very competitive Killer for many years. Without tooting my own horn, I want to say that I'm fairly confident in my abilities as a killer and feel that I am competent in my matches. I also often feel like a liability as a Survivor even still to this day. With almost 3,000 hours I'm still sweltering and making swiss-cheese headed gaffs that cost my friends their lives in many cases. Even within the game, I know every perk and element of the game backwards and forwards (If I only applied that same level of enthusiasm to medical school like you did) and can reliably secure 4k matches on just about any killer even with meme builds. But how confident do I feel in a survivor match ? Not nearly at all.
Everyone has different gifts and areas they are great in. Being smart doesn't mean you're supposed to be amazing at everything, and it certainly doesn't mean you can't have parts of your own mind and humanity that act OUTSIDE of intellect. There is nothing to be ashamed or guilty of - because being a little goofy in the margins is what makes people interesting and worthwhile.
Wow, that was impressively written and a good read. Maybe it's true, maybe I'm just not talented at DBD and will never get better. I do have a talent for writing stories, though. When I play DBD, I'm often so frustrated and ashamed of my performance that I forget I have other talents, even if they're not DBD.I'm trying to internalize that a bit, thank you for that.
And by the way, your best friend is lucky to have you as a friend; it's heartwarming how you talk about her.

If it's any consolation, I am approaching 3800 hours and you wouldn't be able to tell from the way I play this game. It might as well have been a 100 hour player on your team 😁.
The reason why this has never discouraged me from playing DBD is because I do not give a damn about improving. I play DBD for a lot of reasons, getting gud at it has never been one of them. I find my fun in many other ways!and HOW do you do that? How are you able to find your fun? I mean, I suck at looping, that means the game is quickly over for me and I don´t have the chance to do anything, because more and more killers tend to tunnel off hook from the start. How can I have fun if I am not allowed to do anything besides hanging on the hook, staring at my screen ?
-
YES.
I mean, right now most of my matches (solo queue survivor) feel like a waste of time anyway, so I'd happily wait longer for the chance to play against a more evenly matched opponent. I'd watch videos while waiting.
But as long as lobby dodging is allowed, that will never happen. In every other lobby, there's at least one survivor dodging the lobby. Or I get into a lobby where all four players are already ready. Or the killer dodges, which is the worst of all because the replacement is guaranteed to be at least five classes better than us.
-
Mostly terrible, I think you only have fun as survivor in this game if you're a god at looping or if you have a swf where friends are good loppers who will take the aggro away from you. Otherwise, every round ends quickly for you, you can't really play, and it just doesn't feel good. And the more you lose, the lower your MMR becomes and the weaker your teammates become. And you're stuck there.
I mean, I probably deserve it to be down there, because I can't loop, but it just doesn't feel good to hardly be able to finish a match. And even though I've rarely had some really great killer players who, as soon as they realized they were playing against a completely defenseless solo queue team, slowed down massively and at least let us get a little bit into the game (didn't let us win, which was right, but gave us time to do something in the match), the majority of killer players tunnel from the get go.
Even if they realize they could easily beat this team without tunneling, they still act like they're participating in a $1,000,000 tournament. It's just miserable and even though BHVR had planned anti tunnel later in the year, looking back at other attempts to fix something I lack faith that they will come up with something that will help in any way.

It took me like 3,500 hrs for survivor gameplay to click. Before that i also didn't understand how to play it, so i stuck to killer instead.
Does this video help? It helped me a lotAs I said, watching videos helps me absolutely nothing.I forgot about it the moment I stopped watching the video. My brain just can't memorize it.
You probably made the smartest decision to switch roles. I like playing Killer in 2v8, but I can't do it in 1v4.
When I played Killer a few yeara ago in 1v4, I was hard bullied several times by survivors, and it reminded me of the bullying I experienced at school, and it was a terrible feeling.
Since then, I've had killer anxiety and unfortunately can't play it outside of 2v8.

Trust me, everyone has bad games from one time to another.
I know being anxious while playing is never a good thing, but like other have mentioned. If you practice with a friend, you will get better at chaining together the tiles. I'm close to 1400 hours myself, so I wouldn't say that I am well-seasoned yet, but I am getting there.
But the best tip I have for you is to actually play as the killer, against someone who loops well. That way you can easily pick up on the things they do to last longer in chases. Memorizing tiles as you traverse the map is one thing, or use Windows of Opportunity if you need the extra help with finding the best way of chaining together loops. It is also a mental game versus the killer, if you can outsmart them around the loops, giving you the break you need to get to the next loop, and so on. Once you get the hang of it, it tends to stick. Also, don't be afraid of pre-dropping pallets, in the case the killer breaks the pallet, their bloodlust counter will reset.
My personal best continous chase lasted 2 minutes and 19 seconds, while I have had longer chases that were not continous, but lasted for 5 gens.I've played killer before, but that didn't help me figure out how to improve my looping as survivor. Additionally, it led to me developing massive killer anxiety. Some survivor players were extremely cruel to me. I was bullied at school as a teenager, and being bullied online by four other players as a killer player on my own felt almost as horrible. Since then, I haven't been able to play killer, except in 2v8.
And I don't have anyone who actively plays DBD to practice with.
I was very pleased when BHVR announced they were working on killer bots for custom games, as I saw an opportunity to practice looping in a less stressful environment for me.That was ages ago now, and it seems BHVR simply abandoned this plan without informing us. :(

Last iteration you got 10 shards per step level, and if you fully completed a milestone quest, it gave you a total of 550 rift shards. The rewards at least kept increasing to somewhat match the growing requirements. Now each step in the milestone quests gives only a flat 25 shards, which means even if you can slog through all 10 steps, you only get 250 shards for each one.
Now to top it off, the new requirements are so much more absurd:
- 1375 gen kicks now, 275 then.
- 550 trials now, 100 then.
- 110 escapes now, 55 then.
- 550 heals now, 110 then.
- 2750 hooks now, 275 then.
- 550 kills now, 165 then.
- 550 kills now, 165 then.
We are required to put in anywhere from like 3~10x more effort into getting these all done, and only getting half as much in compensation. And just think… 550 trial completions alone would probably average to around 110 solid hours of gameplay, not counting time in queues, the store, spending bp or menus.
Oh but it's so much worse. The hooks one is REALLY bad. 2750 hooks equates to at an absolutely impossible bare minimum 230 games. And that's assuming you can manage 12 hooks in EVERY game. A lot of times it can feel hard enough getting 4 kills, or at least to end game with 3 secured. Now imagine if you win "too easily" people die early at only one or two hooks. Or you even lose and get many escapes. By far seems like the hooks one is taking the longest and I will never finish it.
Then again, I understand maybe the idea is everyone isn't necessarily expected to complete every one of these. And I'm sure other events and daily quests will make up for rift progress. All the numbers still feel very poorly thought out, regardless.
Great, then I "only" need 90 escapes still. Not gonna happen in solo queue, lmao.
And 2750 hooks ? ######### ? Poor killers, no wonder some of them sweating like crazy.
I'm usually always annoyed when the killer sweats too hard from the start, but now that I see these numbers, I can even feel a little sympathy. What a pressure.
BHVR, at the very least, doesn't encourage a healthy playstyle with these challenges.
-
Yup. In the last few days, I've had teammates cheat twice. One of them could not only move at lightning speed and heal instantly (the usual cheats), but they could also cheat themselfes INTO the gens while repairing, so the killer had no chance to down them and stop the repair process.
The moment I realized they were cheating, I stopped playing and tried to alert the other teammates. Luckily, after noticing they also immediately stopped doing gens, and we all went to the killer and farmed with him while the filthy cheater continued cheating his gens. In the end, we other 3 voluntarily sacrificed ourselves to the killer.
In the second match, I saw the clown down a teammate (I had the perk that lets me see the killer's aura when they injure a teammate in any way), and I could see that when the killer picked them up, the survivor cheated by launching themself into the air from the killer's shoulder, preventing the killer from hooking them. At that moment, the killer disconnected and apologized in chat afterwards. Logically, no one was mad at the killer.
To be honest, there are killers in the game that I absolutely hate, but as soon as I notice that I have a cheating teammate, I instantly side with the killer, no matter how much I actually hate the character. I HATE cheating , it´s going on for years and EAC is a joke.
-
But it is not useless. It prevents the killer from carry you to the basement (basement trapper in mind) or directly to a scourge hook , which otherwise they couldn´t have reached in time.

@HeroLives said:
I think for me I just like to use perks and builds that have a goal in mind. Like a “game plan” and try to find a way to get use out of the perks by playing into that mindset. For me it shakes things up. Like a healer, hit taker, stealth, all seeing eye builds. Or perks that just work really well together like if I want to minimize x happening in my games I’ll bring a build for it.
Recently I did an A-Z perks and just played all the perks alphabetically until I reached the end, and that was fun. Doing adept achievements where you’re not allowed to move on from that character until you escape with only their three perks. Those are just things I do. Just try your best and try to use the perks you pick. Idk if it’s the answer you’re looking for, but it’s what keeps me from falling into perk ruts.
Best of luck, and pick up killer from time to time to see what other people are doing that works and bring that back to survivor. Plus playing killer helps you see what they see and figure out how to play around them.
That is actually a great idea , because I struggle to decide which perks to choose.
I will do this A-Z perks thing right now :D
-
Look, I don't think it's right to give up right at the beginning, but if I imagine myself in that survivor's situation, being slugged by you as punishment... well, then I would just tab out and watch videos.
Do you really think the slugged survivor will stare angrily at the screen for four minutes, waiting for the bleed out?
As I said, I don't want to justify the survivor's behavior, but I get the feeling you think your punishment has a greater effect on this player than it actually does.

Really boggles the noggin. Iterating on and continually improving these modifiers through those iterations is something the devs outright stated they would want to do, and yet Chaos Shuffle remains wholly unchanged the fourth time around. When randomizing items, add-ons and offerings seems like a completely obvious no-brainer improvement.
People being able to choose their items and add-ons as well as offerings (usually meaning: the map) completely goes against the very concept of what makes this modifier fun and interesting: the chaos, the completely non-standard loadouts and the non-standard gameplay that yields. Even getting bad or the rare detrimental stuff (of which there is so little that it really is not a concern) is part of the appeal. It's fun to load in with No Mither or Object + Scene Partner and try to make it work. The same would be true when loading in with Speed Limiter or the like. It's funny, in a fun mode.
Plus, with map offerings set to be getting nerfed, what better time to test-run how people like the game when the map is random every match? That not even at least disabling map offerings in this mode is a change they've thought appropriate is wild to me.
Personally I would even go further and randomize cosmetics as well, even including ones that players don't own. Not knowing what your character will look like until load-in would add more chaotic excitement and hilarity to the mode, and it might well end up leading tons of people to buy a cosmetic or another because they liked it in the trial. Hell, they could even randomize the procedural generation of maps with this as well. Or maybe simply use mirrored versions of the maps that can randomly appear.
Alas, it seems we have to settle for what may more aptly be described as "moderate disorder", rather than chaos.
What I find almost equally disappointing is that BHVR never shares stats on this modifier. Killrates would obviously be neat since this would tell us a little bit more about base balance (everyone using random perks means the stats should more closely resemble the balance of a "perkless" environment), and seeing the top 10-20 perks with the highest kill and survival rates in this mode would be even more interesting, since with the completely random perk selection these stats would tell us a fair bit about how valuable perks really are on average (ideally these would be distinguished further on a per-killer basis, and given with both personal and group survival rates, like I had suggested in this thread: https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/437560/chaos-shuffle-stats).
You've got my point exactly.
Of course, it can happen that you get extremely unlucky combos.
In another match, you'll get extremely lucky combos.
That's the very definition of chaos.
In chaos, you sometimes get lucky and sometimes unlucky.
What we have now isn't true chaos, and I don't understand why they called the mode "Chaos Shuffle."
They could have just called it "Perk Shuffle," that would have been more accurate.
-
A win for me is if I had fun and feel like I haven't wasted my time. That's all. I'm simple.
Whether I'm a killer or a survivor, I don't have to escape or kill the survivors to see it as a win for me.
I want to feel like it's worth my time. I want good interactions with each other without toxicity. I want to feel good while playing, not miserable. If I had a good time it´s a win for me.
-
@Shinkiro said:
Well killer addons can't be randomised because they change how the killer plays and that will feel god awful. Now survivor items really should be, because stacking decked out items in a random mode is just stupid. I dont think offerrings should be either, especially if it'll randomly use ones you own that you dont want to use. They should be disabled and just give chaos shuffle a 50-100% BP bonus to compensate for lack of BP offerrings.
Then the killer has an advantage if they can choose their strongest add-ons, but survivors can't choose items, leaving them with randomized garbage against a killer who uses meta add-ons. Nope.
I don't want sweat mode 2.0, I want a fun mode.
I'd also be fine with deactivating add-ons and items. And offerings too. Not a problem, not at all.
The main thing is that players have fewer opportunities to sweat, for that we have the normal 1v4.
-
The question is, how do you define fun?
Is it important to you to win most of the time? Then I can't answer your question as to which killer is the most fun for that because that's not my criteria.
The killer I enjoy the most is doctor.
He's not one of the strong killers, but I like his power. I find it fun to make survivors scream; when I play him, I can laugh.
I really hope he comes to 2v8 soon. -
Short answer: No, not at all. It feels miserable.
Except for 2v8, at the moment it´s the only time where I can bring myself to even start the game.
-
I think it only gets bad with Legion if the killer teammate is not a random but a friend and both are on comms, Legion can injure survivors very easily and their teammate can do the rest. If both are coordinated, then it gets ugly.
But I found Legion to be the worst in "lights out". To this day I can't explain why BHVR thought it was a good idea to have a killer who completely negates the point of this mode with his power. -
Not really, I don´t care about P100 characters, I have my few favorite characters and on them I have all perks , that´s enough for me.
Ofc, I won´t say "no" to more BP in normal mode if we have "blood rush" or something like that but it´s nothing what would encourage me to play survivor in 2v8 (as example) , they would have to give my shards for that.

The crazy thing is the killer bots are wayyy better than the survivor ones
I remember a match in the last 2v8.
For some reason my killer teammate disconnected (or was disconnected) and I didn't notice it until the end because we completely dominated the match and killed all the survivors. My teammate did a good job until the end and made some kills. I was extremely surprised when I saw the word "bot" behind my teammate in the end screen.
So yes, the killer bots that BHVR has in 2v8 are pretty good.
I also don't understand why they don't at least bring these bots into custom games, they are surely good enough for survivor players to practice things like looping and other counterplay -

I really like the voice when loading the game that says "Dead by Daylight".
When I bought the game, it was there when loading. I thought it was always there, and I was very upset when the voice disappeared.
Leave it there forever, as a voice announcing the name of the game!
I don't know what time you bought the game, but I seem to remember the first time the "Dead by Daylight" voice was on the start screen was when a "Resident Evil" chapter was released. I'm not sure if it was nemesis or wesker chapter.
And since the current 2v8 mode has a "Resident Evil" theme, the start voice is back.I think BHVR does it because a voice saying the name of the game is iconic for Resident Evil. In the classic RE games, it was standard when you started the game that a voice said "Resident Evil".
-
I watched a streamer playing survivor in 2v8 and the bots were really attracted by the herbs and grabbed them before the streamer had a chance to pick them up.
Maybe that´s the reason why these little rats last until the end. :'D
-
Most of the time I have "unbreakable" in my build.
But also most of the time I don´t need it , fortunately in my region slugging doesn´t seem t be that common.
Most killers will pick you up and hook, unless they´re slugging for 4K but even that is not that often.
But I will keep unbreakable in my build, even if slugging is rare for me IF it happens I am glad to have that perk available.
-
I already wrote this in the feedback section, personally it is absolutely no use to me that you can only do this in an event queue.
If I have a killer character whose power I don't know how to use properly, I am insecure and feel uncomfortable. The last thing I want to do in that situation is play against real people. We all know that the DBD community is not only made up of kind-hearted people, but many (killer and survivor players) find the most fun in making their opponents feel miserable.
If I imagine that 4 people are making me look like an idiot just because I'm testing a character that I don't know how to use, then I get anxiety so bad that I can't play at all.
So I will continue NOT to buy any new killers if I'm not sure whether their power suits me, because I definitely won't play against 4 real people to test a character. I don't have thick enough skin for that.
I wish we could test characters we don't know in custom matches (even with restrictions, so that you only have 5 custom games to test a character) before we decide whether to buy them or not.

Yeah, I've just had a similar thing happen to me. Dumped 2mil bloodpoints into twins, went into a match came back out and everything had reset. BP, level, perks, everything. Tried closing the game down then booting it back up but everything was still gone. I'm on Ps5.
So yeah, all my progress was reset. I go to the bloodweb, do some pages, get some items and after playing a match my whole progress is gone. I have all my BP back, and the items I got from the bloodweb are gone. So I can´t play matches if I don´t want to do the same bloodweb stuff over and over again.
I just saw another post on steam, there are other people with problems.
The TE int hat post said their bloodweb resets everytime back to page 1, never go up to page 2 .
The game is seriously buggy for some people right now and I hope the devs are at least aware.
-
Tbh, the last few days I defintely prefered 2v8 in the killer role. I play solo all the time, so I played killer solo queue too.
But even without a friend, killer felt way better for me than survivor. I am not good at looping, and it was just not fun if there were 2 killers going after you , even worse if there were on comms together. And maybe I got very unlucky in my survivor matches but we definitely lost more then we escaped.
So actually it´s fine for me from survivor perspective that we are back to 1v4 , so I don´t have to worry about a second killer coming around the corner if I am in a chase or if I am on a gen and a teammates gets chased.
I REALLY like 2v8 and I want it back for sure, but I think I will play more killer than survivior in this mode in the future.
-
Nice, I hadn´t been in the mood for DBD for the last 3 days and was angry about myself because I knew 2v8 would end soon and I just couldn´t bring myself to play.
That´s great news , so I have still time to play a little bit more of this mode. It´s my favorite mode, I just wish the queues were better.

I only played 3 killer games last night , I was lucky that my teammates were never AFK. I have killer anxiety, it would be scray if I had to deal with 8 survivors alone. I would probebly never touch killer again.
But I found myself getting really bored during the waitung times (20 minutes average) , and reading something in the browser or watching videos doesn´t really help if you´re not in the mood for reading/watching videos. If I want to play a game, I actually want to PLAY something.
I wish it would somehow be possible to play killer custom games while waiting in queue. I don´t thing that would be possible but it would be so much better.

It's something I've struggled with a lot in the past. I used to play competitively and had severe performance anxiety on killer to the point where I had trouble seeing the screen. So I can absolutely relate to the feeling.
The biggest thing I learned: the way you imagine you'll feel is infinitely worse than the way you'll actually feel if you do fail in the moment. It's never as bad as you think it'll be. And if you stick with it long enough, the good experiences are going to far outnumber the bad.
And ultimately, nothing that happens in DbD has any bearing on your life. You can close the game at any time and never pick it back up. Those mean players might as well not exist once you close the game.
"the way you imagine you'll feel is infinitely worse than the way you'll actually feel if you do fail in the moment"
Thanks for the reminder.
Therapists always say that too. I have OCD in addition to my extreme introversion. And what you said is exactly what therapists say about OCD therapy.
"the way you imagine you'll feel if you don't give in to your OCD is infinitely worse than the way it will really be. Learn to endure the tension, you'll see nothing happens."I just realized from your comment that this can be applied to a lot of things. I hadn't thought of making this useful in video games before.
So again, thanks for the reminder !!!

I DID IT !!!
I survived the queue without quitting, I had my first 2v8 killer match as a wraith together with a spirit. We even managed a 6K.
Thanks for the supportive words. Some really helped to calm my nerves a bit. And it was fun. It really feels different to have someone with you. I suspect next time it won't be half as bad to queue for killers. At least in 2v8.
I'll probably never play 1v4 killer again. Or only with a XXL bar of chocolate to calm my nerves. -

The community for this game can be demoralizing especially to Killer players, and the stronger the Killer you choose unfortunately the nastier they are if you struggle. I say screw them. You have to play for you, not for anyone else. Keep that endgame chat closed and just try, you never know if you don't try. Start on Wraith, he teaches fundamentals very well.
I enjoy Killer and first got into it because I found a Killer I really connected with, liked, and have tons of fun with. I have always liked stealth games and Scream, so eventually gravitated to Ghostface. Two years later and many other Killers learned under my belt, I still keep coming back to Ghostface because he's just the most fun to me and the one I can do the most damage with. He taught me to love Killer side, and I love him for that. Maybe that's all you need - finding someone you truly enjoy, regardless of strength, and learning them inside and out.
I actually have 2 killers I truly enjoy.
Freddy
and
Doctor
I really don´t like M2 killers, I always prefer M1 killers but well, most time you will get humiliated with them.
Can´t imagine that got better in the last 2 years. But maybe it´s just a skill issue. Pretty sure there are even Freddy and Doc mains out there who are able to wiping the floor with survs xD

Well, my fellow Freddy enjoyer, I remember reading posts here about people who experienced anxiety when playing killer, but unfortunately I don't remember who exactly who wrote those posts, sorry.
I am sure they will find their way here eventually :)
I wish he would get finally some attention from BHVR, it´s a shame they made him so weak. I wasn´t even there in his strong times. I am not good with fast killers like Blight, Billy, Oni or Nurse (well, tbh I suck with them) all I want is to play my comfy , cozy M1 freddy and actually have a chance with him again.

Imagine if this game had a random matchmaking system. It will never happen, but it would be an interesting experiment. 5 players go into a queue, and the game randomly decides who plays the killer and who plays the survivor.
I think if every player was forced to play the other side from time to time, there could be a bit more understanding for the other side.
It's usually the mains, the people who ONLY play survivor or ONLY killer, who shout "Us vs Them" the loudest.Maybe there will be random matchmaking as a game mode at some point … maybe ….

There were 2 problems in 2v8. It only affected killer queues, survivor was instant all the time.
- Where previously there was only swf for the survivor side, suddenly everyone had the opportunity to play killer (KWF) with their friends. Of course, everyone wanted to play with their buddies and that naturally lengthens the killer queue.
Then there were only a few killer options. If someone wanted to play a popular killer (for example Huntress), they had to wait twice as long in the queue because too many others had also chosen Huntress.
There should be more killers available next time, but with restrictions. For example, only one M2 and M1 Killer can play together.
With two strong M2 Killers, if all Killers were available, it would simply be too frustrating for the survivor side, and nobody would want to play survivor. So long killer queues.
Speaking of Survivor, here comes the problem
2. The Survivor gameplay was not exciting enough in comparison to the killer gameplay. Personally, I liked that there were no meta perks, and I really liked that we had the cage system instead of hooks, but something still needs to be done to make survivor gameplay more appealing in this mode. Even with huge BP incentives, there weren't enough survivor players available.
Maybe there needs to be additional, interesting tasks for survivors, better rewards (shards, rift fragments?) and more additional, interesting survivor classes.
I'm more of a casual player, so I really liked the mode. I mainly play survivor in the main game because I don't like playing alone against others, I'm more of a team player. That's why it would have been nice to be able to play killer in this mode, together with someone else, but I haven't played a single killer match either, I don't have that much time for 20-30 minute or even longer killer queues.
If BHVR could somehow shorten the queues, then this would definitely be the best game mode in the game.

At least you could try to hide from Dredge during nightfall.
The killer who actually is really miserable to play aginst in Lights Out is Legion.
I will quote Wesker here "There is no point in hiding" ….
…. cause even in the dark they will see you all the time with their killer instinkt.
I´m not even done with the event tome and I don´t think I will finish it. Switched back to normal mode yesterday because lights out feels like a waste of my time.

It's very easy. Take a break. I did, for over a year and a half and find it fun again because of the crapload of perks I had to figure out. And some of them are pretty goofy so that helped a lot, like bardic inspiration and background player, the gen time reduction perks, and combining all the dumb ones like mirrored illusion, wiretap, and red herring, etc. Especially helps if you have a good team to play with. I pretty much play exclusively SWF these days and it's a very different experience than solo. At the very least, if you still want to play, don't play to win. Just use uncommon loadouts to see if you can get them to work. But I say, take a break. There's nothing wrong with leaving a game if you don't enjoy it any more. I encourage it. Don't you have a backlog? That's what I did when I was gone. I finished somewhere in the vicinity of 50 games and cleared mine all out.
2v8 was a good mode for people like you and I hope it comes back soon.
But I just HAD a long break before I came back to 2vs8. xD
I guess I should have never played 2vs8 in the first place, now I can´t go back to 1vs4 because it feels so sweaty and competetive.
It was a huge mistake to try that mode. :/

in the last 2 years or so I've taken more and longer breaks
I immediately lose the desire to start the game
I really feel the need to play
Sounds like an addiction and you're having withdrawal. I'm not being cutesy when I say that, it really sounds like you understand that the game is bad for your mental health but you're so used to playing it that not playing it leaves you feeling like there's a hole in your life.
There's no hole in your life. The game is bad for your mental health. Do not force yourself to play it. Do other things, enjoy yourself, treat your time as valuable and don't try to convince yourself that just because you've done something a lot previously means it's worth doing today.
What ? Lol, I guess you misunderstood me. If I were addicted I would get nervous if I couldn't play the game and would focus on it all the time. I can take a break for months and not miss anything about the game. But I've just come out of a month-long break for 2vs8 with a renewed desire to play DBD more regularly AFTER MONTHS, but when I think about the sweat in 1vs 4 I just can't.

The problem you have is neither you nor your teammates. The problem you have is different ideas and motivations on how to play the game.
You seem to me like a person who has a competitive mindset and therefore wants to play the match as optimally an flawless as possible so that the chances of winning are as high as possible.
That's okay. BUT... if you decide to play Solo Queue, you have to accept that other strangers don't share the same motivation that drives you.
Some players don't have a competitive mindset, they are happy casuals and want to stay that way. They play for fun, fun for them doesn't mean victory, but rather blood points or achieving their rift challenges. They don't care if they make mistakes, in the end they only care about being able to play a match of a reasonably good length in order to collect points, the result is unimportant.
The problem with DBD is when casuals and competitive players meet. This is when a full casual survivor team faces a comp killer, which is usually a mega stomp, or a casual killer player faces a comp survivor team, with the same result.
But it also happens in the survivor team when 2 comp players meet 2 casuals. The motivations for the match are different.
The only thing that helps you is not to get annoyed with your random teammates because they don't share your ideas of fun, but to look for 3 other teammates here in the forum or on discord or wherever with a competitive mindset and start a swf.
I'm one of those casuals for whom winning means earning BP and doing my rift challenges and thereby earning even more BP and shards and fragments.
And I'll stay that way, competitive gaming isn't fun for me and gaming is my hobby and not my job. I don´want to feel stress while doing my hobby.

No. 2 are okay. Same for medkits or flashlights.
However, If I see 4 of the same item, I might equip franklin´s. ;)

Interesting.
Don't you find that you've then crashed your MMR, and are facing players so new that it becomes boring?
When it starts to get boring, I´ll do the killer rift challenges, that involve killing. ;)
But I always try to keep MMR at a level that I can play relaxed without sweating. I have absolutely zero desire to reach high mmr where every match is exhausting and unfun.
I know this may be incomprehensible to many KIller players (and I don't blame them, I'm just different) but I have the most fun in DBD knowing that all 5 players involved in the match were having fun together, and each of us can go out of the match with a high number of BP. That means more to me than absolute victory. I'm just not competitive.
