  • I think they should trial run it, to see if it does affect lobby dodging; and if it does, then just put it in game that way they at least have the option to see others builds in game without “cherry picking” teammates.

  • as long as you were doing gens and making progress no, even if it’s painfully slow progress. You were doing your best to try to win in an odds attacked against you situation.

Anyways they’ll be changing the game soon anyways with a health update to stop excessive hiding.

In short no, you’re not going to get banned, because you were making progress.

Did you miss the whole other half of the image where it said anti-tunnelling, anti-camping and anti-slugging?

Extreme Hiding: BHVRs own words are "Survivors drawing out an UNWINNABLE match" So we have determined the survivors cannot win by your own words, so essentially the fix is to say hurry up and lose.

I don't know where you're getting the implication that BHVR are saying every match is unwinnable for Survivors. They are talking about games that have specifically entered a state that is basically lost and instead of letting it go to hatch (which is the lifeline for those kinds of matches), they just hide for 30 minutes.

There's already mechanics to help a Survivor escape a lost match. This change is for hostage situations.

2v8 gen tapping incoming!!! I can see it now.

Agree with that. I was pretty terrible when I tried to play her to get the trophies associated with her. Several of the killers I got adept the very first game I ever played with them. Certainly not with Nurse!

I’ve definitely at a time contributed to tanking her KR because I was absolute garbage trying to get dailies with her and was humbled quickly.

Thing about Nurse is, I barely see her anymore, at least compared to the amount of Blights! I play against them occasionally but just feels like her pick rate has gone through the floor. Plus, apart from the idea of nerfing her aura reading abilities while charging blinks, I don't know what else they can really do with her. At one point she was clear as the most powerful killer but she has been reigned in a bit when they changed her blinks to special attacks and killed Starstruck Nurse for one.

Im sure she had the lowest kill rate in some of the kill stats BHVR released last year so I doubt they feel the need to touch her any time soon. A good Nurse is an absolute wrecking ball, but there must be a lot of bad ones to give her such a low kill rate!

she’s one of if not the hardest killer to learn and that tanks her quite a bit…most killers you can get at least a 1-2k picking them up, but until someone starts getting her blinks down it’s basically 4e.

Yeah, it's honestly crazy because I usually get the error and it posts anyways but the forums just decided to delete my comment I guess. 😂

Yeah, I try to be as logical and efficient as possible (sometimes I make mistakes, but that's us for humans anyways. 🙃) I'll heal when asked, I always try to hook rescue before someone reaches second stage even if it means I will go on the hook instead, to me - extending your teammate's time in the game is invaluable so I really try to go for unhooks as 1v3s are hard to manage. However, if I simply cannot get the save, I will just leave and let the person die (an example being a camping Hillbilly and I'm already injured) it's physically impossible for me to do it, so I sadly had to let the random die. 😔

I also do unique builds, I try to find small little synergies with specific builds. My most recent little experiment was with Object of Obsession, I know, tunnel target lol but I typically do well in chase! I actually paired with Scene Partner, along with my usual two perks Deja Vu and Sprint Burst and I honestly was having a blast. 😊 I slapped it on my Dwight and you just hear him go - "ooouh", lmao it's so funny.

I think that's why I'm not as burnt out or prone to go next, I always have different builds on all of my survivors and it freshens up the game for me. I don't run the same build over and over again because honestly I get bored, so that's why I love Dead By Daylight a lot - the amount of synergies you can make it quite interesting to me. Reminds me of Mass Effect 3 Online, which I played a ton of haha.

I'll respond to the one about video games in a DM because I saw you give me one, but we share similar games in common.

I would definitely recommend The Witcher 3 if you haven't tried it, don't be deterred from thinking you need to play the prior ones (even though I want to play them myself, you can easily get into the Witcher 3 as it recaps the story if you're a Playstation player on your end, as we don't have a way to play the prior entries. 🙃 But it's really good and definitely up your alley!

yeah exactly we play similarly. I make whatever call I have to in order to stop it from becoming a 3v1 as long as possible. If they’re snowballing too fast though sometimes I just let it happen instead of become the snowball(I don’t really run second chance perks, I suppose I can throw on one though if I need to because back to back matches or something with hovering nearbys , I think deep down most of us are a little boosted sometimes 😂 I don’t claim to be a god, but I do know some things about some things. There’s a lot of miles on these survivor tires. Also yes absolutely without saying If im not building other emblems the lightbringer is strong in me 🫡 I’ve been known to be yoinked a few times due to dedication of the cause in dire situations. Sometimes every second counts , sue me 🤷‍♀️ I know exactly the kind of Billy’s you’re talking about. I saw they buffed him back and I heavy sighed bc they were right back to that strat on crack. It’s so rinse repeat and they’ve got that timing down to a science. It’s really hard to not get sucked into it as solo, you kinda have to let them die or feed the beast, unfortunately.

That actually sounds like fun, I’ll probably try that build, see how it goes. I was having a lot of fun with light weight, light-footed, lucky break, and overcome before 2v8. That fourth one you can use whatever exhaustion you want, or quick and quite goes really well with it too, or finesse.

Okay yeah cool I’ll check my messages!

  • It’s going to be a rough start but the whole middle part is going to be so much fun.

Dear entity, our malevolent god, please fix our houndstress bug, we wish to do evil in your honor. Thyne survivor here wishes the bug didn’t break the atmosphere, if thou evil puppy stuck on rock, there is no pets for not fulling thou’s mercilessness. Does dog not deserve pets? Amen.

If that doesn’t work I got nothing, maybe try sacrificing a meg and repeat prayer.

@HeroLives , I responded to you but I'm gonna give Behavior some leeway because I edited it and got an error lol.

If it doesn't show up, I'll retype what I said as I don't want to make a duplicate comment in the forums. 😂 Always rushing to type and I barely proofread, but if you wanna play I'd be down to play! I play on PS5, but I don't mind Discord. Always nice to play with another girl and I'm quite inclusive and open-minded, I don't mind playing sometime if you wanna exchange information. 😊

don’t worry I read it all before it got error’d away. Yeah same I don’t like to back seat game either. Mostly just giggle and be also that reliable person. Like my idea of playing with someone is “yeah nobody is coming to get me, can you come get me? Is anyone coming for you? Where you at I need a heal?” My main goal isn’t to chase until caught I mostly try to lose line of sight and break chase. I can confirm I don’t run urban evasion, nor self care. I usually come with stealth/chase/sometimes info, and usually a brown Medkit with no add ons for emergencies, or whatever whacky build my brain came up with that I want to try out bc it looks like it gives synergies. No clickies or bangs though, and may the entity spare you if you ask me to use them(I try not to be evil). Solo is super nice though when you don’t want to talk and just want to clear your head, I agree and totally get that.

Comp looks cool, I watch some videos sometimes, it would be neat to learn call outs, I think. I’m not a looping god though, I’m decent but yeah, I don’t think I’d ever make the cut tbh.

I have a massive collection of games but these are games/full collections I’ve played and enjoyed:

Detroit become human, the sims, mortal kombat, final fantasy, nigh, Elden ring, tiny Tina, midnight suns, destiny, resident evil, the evil within, silent hill, baldurs gate, Diablo, Skyrim. Fallout, mass effect, the dark pictures anthology, spider man, Batman, god of war, stray, dark alliance, need for speed, vampyr, dragon age, the forest, ark survival evolved, freed fall, outlast, tomb raider, black ops, the last of us, days gone, the wolf among us, the outer worlds, heavy rain, South Park, metal gear solid, until dawn. I’m all over the place to be honest. What about you?

  • Fun fact! humans similar to chimpanzees and bonobos all show behavioral patterns of group shaming/group disapproval. Surely it won’t, but best buckle up for safety of course.

Perhaps but in any case we will never get rid fully of the people who for some reason entertaing themselves by torturing the other side. Honestly neither side should do that. Just feels very much insane in my opinion.

Probably never get fully rid of it correct, but we can try our best, sometimes I like to think it's just a 5yr old with their parents credit card though and just doesn't know what they are doing. I say this because one match before cross play was a thing, I was playing with some friends, and we weren't even trying hard, like we weren't bming or anything, or rushing, anyways this killer slugged us all and bleed us out and so we were curious why, because people usually only did that then if like a team was being super toxic. anyways we invite the killer to our voice chat to be like what's up with that? They accept the invite, and I'm not joking it was like someone under 10yrs old that answered and was like I just got the game.We played like a couple of customs with the kid and taught them somethings. So now i'm like eh just probably a kid when something super wild like that happens for what seems like no reason.

Yup maybe just maybe by the time I am done maybe the game will be in a better state and won't be painful. Although tbh if I had 4 pals to play the game I think we would all just play custom games and have fun. I already know its a lot of fun even with 2 other friends and you chasing them. It is just difficult to actually find some.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3887628#Comment_3887628

Oh yeah, I get incredibly burnt out because one of my friends always asks me to play because he gets tired of randoms and sees me as "reliable".

I just take breaks, I'm a single player girl at heart and Dead By Daylight is one of the few multiplayer games that I actively put time into because I'm passionate about the game.

However, I won't lie and say I don't get burnt out over the game. Even though I can say I like to waste the killer's time like the above, it gets exhausting for me to counter specific things — a slugging Blight I had about a month ago killed my energy to play (even though we got a two man out, I was in a full SWF) I still was burnt out over dealing with such a conundrum. I get that people get annoyed and frustrated with survivor, but at the same time, if you feel that way - take a break.

Like you said, read some books, catch up on some other hobbies, come back with a refreshed mindset because bringing others down with you isn't healthy, in my opinion. Once I feel like I'm repeatedly losing, I take a break. I don't feel like playing? I don't play, I go play something else, or invest my energy elsewhere and I come back with a better mindset.

People who play all day, everyday, go into a game, go down first I went down first, let me kill myself on hook or DC is just odd to me. At that point, just get off spreading all that negative energy elsewhere.

Tired of seeing people DC, kill themselves on hook (I had a Claudette not too long ago attempt to kill themselves on hook when she was found, during my chase, because she was hiding in a locker, injured - just comes across as children to me.

Yeah exactly. I was thinking about getting back into swf but not like a sweat squad because like i want to relax and not take this game so seriously, but at least people you can depend on and coordinate with, because solo is just insane right now, alot of the strats the killers are using once you go up you gotta have coordination on some level to have like a chance. like at this point they don't even have to be super good. just like someone i know isn't going to stand in a corner while other people are pre-occupied for various reasons or dc because something didn't go their way or as an f-university to the killer out of spite, sending hates messages to the killer, and shouting over comms. I'm also a single player girly at heart. I totally get that, I love a good story game or a good strategy game. I like multiplayer looter shooters. I wish there were more multiplayer story games though to play with my friends. I think with solo you feel like you have to be okay with accomplishing nothing most of the time, and I can see and totally understand why new player retainability is so hard because if you don't know anyone this game is really difficult to learn, and with no sense of accomplishment(losing mostly) I imagine most people burn out pretty quickly because they aren't getting that dopamine hit.

  • @Pulsar said:

Considering that I am in the same age range, albeit slightly younger, I would say Outlast or Amnesia.

yeah I was going to say probably outlast also, or something from the forest, maybe something from Elden ring, or like an scp.

  • if you were playing survivor is was great, if you were playing killer basically little to no shot unless you were super skilled bc 4mans ran absolutely rampant. Killers would dc all the time, survivors that missed their ds skill check would just dc. We didn’t have bots then so you were just down a player at that point. Killers didn’t have much agency of a team decided they were going to bully you. There was a killer strike at one point because the game had got so bad for them, kinda similar to what you see now with how soloQ acts. It’s like a mirror but the other side of the coin to be honest. Lots of busted stuff across the board. Used to be able to Mori everyone off the rip, used to be able to do a few gens and everyone just take the hatch out. Survivors could hold killers hostage at endgame( it’s why we have egc now). Hatch standoffs. Lots of meme-ing. It wasn’t really difficult to bully a killer(sadly). Solo was chaotic because you either got put with what they called “looper gods” or you had incredibly boosted teammates that just straight altruism farmed to death their way to the top and would never touch a gen. Slug races. People would just run up and unhook you all the time with the killer right there with 0 cares, happens a lot less now. Stealth was super strong and you could if you spent enough time learn to do all the gens and never be found by the killer so you could hatch out if your teammates really sucked, and I mean really sucked. Sometimes they would snowball their self to death before a single gen was completed, somehow though they were red rank. It was the Wild West and completely survivor sided. Killers broke their backs and minds trying to keep up. I legit used to win like every single match almost as a 4man, and as solo I escaped through hatch at minimum most times and I wasn’t even running a bunch of exhaustion or anti-tunnel perks as solo, just stealth/info perks. Pretty sure I was the cause of a bunch of killer posts about them not being able to find a survivor. Camping was rampant, they’d just stare you in the face and and sometimes hit you on the hook for like the whole duration. Lots of snarky endgame comments belittling the weaker man(killer), kinda how you see killers now calling most survivors potatoes, even though that’s by design. It was absolute chaos. It was fun and equally sucked. Killer hosted the game and if their internet sucked your matches were absolutely wild regarding ping. Lots of lag switching in those times to get an advantage, because this was before dedicated servers. Tons of infinite abuses. Lots of deaths to pigs hats at one point. We used to gather survivor and killer alike and watch peoples heads explode. Killers and survivors used to goof around more with each other then. Overall just straight shenanigans. A lot of it had to go because well egos were high, and killer morale was very low. Lots of people depipping on purpose to either pick on the weaker man, or just not be in sweaty red ranks and goof around in purple. It wasn’t about farming, it was about goofing around because it was more fun than sweating and just cracked strats on both sides, because both sides could breathe in purple because nobody was taking the match too seriously, just having fun. Killers and survivors alike were just boosted into reds though because the strats off over altruism alone. It was the best of times it was the worst of times. Because like you would think that once you got to that rank you would be matched with good players, but nope people got carried by their friends and they also got carried by altruism because they had minimum game sense outside of unhooks.

TLDR: it was wild and very survivor sided.

I am not new but I am not a damn god in this game and I sure as hell don't want to be sweating every game because yes I have seen enough youtubers and I have seen what they do but why bother taking the game so serious. I wish I could just go on a normal chase where I drop the pallet and the killer breaks it instead of playing a 50 50 which is almost all pallets but nah I don't need someone to be teaching me the game is supposed to be fun not to be filled with tryhards everytime

I mean I wasn’t going to teach you to be a try hard, and we weren’t going to sweat, but I was just going to give you some tips and tricks to counter some of those killers you mentioned that goes a little deeper than some 30 sec how to guide. I’m pretty chill so like I was just going to help out a little bit, maybe give you a teammate to take some body blocks or ensure isn’t going to leave you with a bot or like let you die on hook or something. Wasn’t trying to turn you into a flashlight lord or any hit squad player, Just maybe teach you some things you might not or didn’t already know that’s not like common out there information. Up to you though. The offer is there.

Also I find it hilarious that you think not wanting to play against someone with 3000 hours more experience than you is invalid reason. I guess you will enjoy having a player that has only 10 hours play against a nurse or blight 4000 hours then.

I get it, it's super frustrating starting this game, especially when there's so much to learn. Would you like a friend to play with and teach you some things to help you better face the killers, or can I recommend you to a streamer that will answer new player questions to help you learn?

It's so surprising to me that people get so burnt out over a game, continue to play it, kill themselves, call the game trash, and continue to do it.

Sorta like a person addicted to a drug, but don't know how to stop or get help.

I get burnt out sometimes, I just go hop on a single player game, and come back when I feel like playing.

It makes me wonder how often people play daily or consistently to get to that point and I say that as someone who plays pretty much daily.

I get burnt out, I'll go play Mass Effect or Fallout 4 and come back itching to play. Today, I had two people kill themselves on hook (brought Badham and Autohaven) because of a Nurse and a Trickster like lol.

Same if I get burned out I just take a break and do something else that I enjoy. I read like 30 books and completed like 5 other video games in my last break. Video games are supposed to be fun and not feel like a second job, people should be kind to themself. It's okay to leave feedback on what burns you out about it, but like don't let yourself get to that point.

I believe this is the case, although the fog didn't look fantastic, I definitely remember it being able to hinder your vision of crouching survivors quite significantly

We were just being stupid, but yeah you used to be able to use mist on both sides for advantages as well when everyone was stacking. It made it harder for everyone to see, I think that was the fun of it. It's pathetic mist now though. So I would like to apologize if it gave anyone a particularly hard time, and for how it looks now. That's my bad. If they buffed it back though I would do it again too because I live off the chaos it brings.

Yes and no. Don't get me wrong, I don't think OP is right, but turning off crossplay doesn't just make it so you can only play with people on the same platform. For some reason, you can only match with people on the same platform who also have crossplay turned off.

Couldn't tell you what they meant. Couldn't even tell you how it works. I just know that i've tried turning it off twice just to see what it was like and both times were horrendous que times, and turned it back on expeditiously.

  • @I_Cant_Loop said:

yeah, it’s comically bad. I’m guessing that with the horrendous optimization in this game that the old, good fog that actually looked like fog was blowing up people’s consoles/PCs and this is the best that the current game can handle (sadly)

I thought they nerfed the mist because a bunch of killers were saying that they couldn't see people through all of it. NGL when I would 4man we used to stack mist just for lulz. It used to be super thick when stacked. It was hilarious, and Myers specifically was thriving. Anyways my bad for being a part of the problem that got it nerfed, we were just meme-ing.

I struggle when someone does an unhook within five seconds of me walking away from the hook. I might be snuffing a totem or kicking a gen and, boom, unhook so close I can hear loud whines from the unhooked survivor. It's one of the rare scenarios where I'll return to the hook. I hate doing that. I chase the unhooker, but I feel like I'm telling the unhooked survivor that they don't deserve to be healed. Having said that, it's a valid tactic to try to keep me from pressuring gens that are almost done.

That is a HUGE survivor mistake and I think you should absolutely punish it, and not even feel a little bad about it. They need to learn not to do that. I beg you punish those mistakes or they’re going to get extra boosted in solo.

Anti tunneling perks doent really exist.

The biggest anti tunnel feature that survivors have is baskit BT + haste off hook.

Perks like DS and OTR have an activation time or a flat out time in which they are active for. This means that if the killer is playing well and your team is screwing up and they are able to down teammates too efficiently, your so called "anti tunnel" perks punish them when they go after you because they were able to be efficient on your other team members. They are anti killer efficiency and anti pressure perks, not anti tunnel perks.

I’d argue two things can be true, if not play survivor.

  • @Anti051 said:

If 2 dive the hook, the first person soaks the first hit and runs off, the second person gets the save and soaks the second hit and it's very likely that everybody gets to a window or pallet before taking a downing hit.

Isn't the play in that scenario to go do gens instead of focusing on the hook save, though?

Yeah the idea is to not be swarmed at the hook with the killer around, or even just swarmed at the hook, or swarmed at the hook immediately. In fair play it really only takes one person to save and go give a heal to the person that was unhooked. Killer should have time to be able to have found and take another chase by then probably kick a gen too, with adjusted heal times and gen times/ regression to account for it of course.

horrible people with raging hormones and only their hands to keep them warm at night do that. Only lover they’ve ever known is last name ends with light, First name flesh. Can I say that on here? Idk.

Wouldn't the group have to mess up pretty badly for that to happen?

not always sometimes as survivor it’s the only choice you have because the killer refuses to leave the area and trying to remove chase and health states as much as possible, and it’s established already they’re not trying to because the way they’re acting.

On the other hand there’s survivors that won’t even give killers 5 steps to try to move away before trying to save and I’d say that’s totally on them.

So fair play in mind how would you address this without feeding intentional camping/tunneling or right back to the hook play without giving either scenario the advantage bc of “abuse”?

My main concerns as a killer player are the phase 2 changes. Its a lot of "anti-killer does thing we don't like" and very little "reward the killer for playing the way we want them to play"

I agree to that, I mean if you're trying to bring swf and solo closer you should probably also implement at least some changes as well that "fair play" killers have issues with so that the balance doesn't shift so heavily. I'm thinking tweaking some toolboxes, a specific healing perk, limited flashbangs(if not a total re-work), no collision on picking up survivors, that's just off the top of my head, maybe even making it where if you've made it x distance away from the hook you can't cross map to abuse anti-tunnel. Those are just off the top of my head.

Also I feel like and buffing the killers that can't keep up goes without saying.

They're fine to cut down on content a bit every now and then. Unless you're someone who plays the game all day, they pretty much run you ragged with all the tomes, dailies, and events. As soon as 1 tome or event ends, another begins 5 days later.

great opportunity for newer players to grind shards and catch up on original content too for those that don’t want to pay.

I haven't seen this kind of outrage at a planned update since 6.1.0, the best patch ever at the time. I think a lot of people need to admit they don't like change, because a lot of these changes are super beneficial and super asked for. I guess because it's too much in too little time? But that's the exact opposite complaint the devs need to be hearing. Before this, we complained that they weren't doing enough, or that they took forever to do it! Some people just don't know what they want.

I think the majority of the changes will be pretty healthy, there’s always going to be an addendum. Almost of the anti this stuff is going to attempt to bridge solo and swf. Im sure naturally an on slaught of survivor nerfs will follow probably healing, sabo, general hook denial that’s abused. At least I hope that’s the plan looking at the roadmap or my god are we running in circles. They could probably throw some in off the bat in phase 2. I think it’s fair, if you’re trying to deter the worst aspects and encourage spreading hooks(which I as solo would appreciate). I’m a reasonable person. That’s just my hot take I guess?

Just hope Nintendo doesn't make a console capable of 30fps or killer might get nuked.
