Agreed. It’s so boring but easily punished. If a killer tunnels me, and my teammates stick to gens… he’ll only get a 1k with the gates open.
Yeah. But sadly not everyone is a god looper :(
-
Tunneling is annoyingly opressive (as in generating pressure on survivors) , yes.
But not every killer you will play against will play fair. Most will just try to win.
-
Unless you care about the prestige 3 "reward" after the rework, it's best to just dump bloodpoints and unlock perks on a killer you want the teachables from. When the update hits, for the amount of perks you have the "catch up" mechanic will give you some free prestige levels.

It's exactly in the part you quoted. You get 1 additional prestige level for each prestige level you had before the PTB. So P1 = P2, P2 = P4, P3 = P6. It's reflected in the PTB. I can understand how it might be confusing, as it confused me at first too
Wait that's how the catch up mechanic works ? Or is it something completly seperate.... I am confusion xp
-
I personally stopped bringing items, using exhaustion perks and meta stuff (sometimes unbreakable but I just somehow always get games when using it where the killer doesn't slug), because I know how it feels to play as killer against that stuff.
Sometimes I bring a medkit with one heal or two when in swf, to make sure to be able to safely unhook in endgame. Or other stuff because of an archive.
-
Wait, wdym they are removing teachables.
I thought that besides the current "you unlock teachables from level 30 - 40 and they start to appear in other characters bloodweb" you also unlock those perks for everyone if you prestige (prestige 1, tier 1 of those 3 teachables). I know you will be able to prestige once and then find those perks in the bloodweb to tier up but..
-
I mean... it would.
But renewal counts I think the time you spent healing someone, not that you healed them. It's the same issue I have sometimes with gen archives when using prove thyself.
Yeah I completed a gen, but in practice i did half of it. The other half did the other survivor.

Making it so Deathslinger walking backwards prevents survivors from even sliding around to attempt to get caught on things wouldn't make breaking out his chain easy in many situations. The whole chain mechanic existed, because Deathslinger unlike Huntress did not have a wind up and it would be unfair if Deathslinger could instant deal damage that way.
But the devs made it so survivors could react to his shot so now they can sidestep his very precision projectile while he can't really readjust his aim quickly due to the ADS destroying his sensitivity. I would have much preferred to lose the backwards walking tech than to lose quickscoping while also making his cancel ADS longer to make faking less effective.
I actually didn't know that (the first part of your comment)
I was always mega confused when I couldn't sway at all in the open sometimes, but when I played as deathslinger, survivors would just sway fine (I mean I tried to use his power more as anti loop, so obv survivors can sway more if they are breaking the chain with enviroment).
I... don't know if I'll use this tech as deathslinger, but atleast now I know why I couldn't sway into that tree and maybe break free from the chain.
As to the second part... idk. He's more skillful with how precise he needs to be as opposed to huntress and at the same time weaker...... which isn't even ironic, just sad. But I think rn you fire fewer shoots as deathslinger, but they're mostly a guaranteed hit/down. I personally wouldn't trade instant ads for breaking from the chain more easily, but that's my opinion.
-
It's too hard to apply on some killers, I don't mind the cooldown that much... if I'm a legion/plauge !!! :/

I'm P3ing characters right now because it's cheaper than doing a crapton of level 50 Bloodwebs, and I get the bloody cosmetics now and I'll get the teachables on everyone when the new system goes live. I don't do it on the characters who have cool old event stuff to lose, but I do it on everyone else.
Same ! Like, I wanted to p3 claudette, but I have the summer barbeque invitation on her :/.
But I think I'll manage to prestige 1-2 more characters before the update and after the event. And after that any other character will just be easier to prestige. That's the whole point of the update, innit ?
-
You say that, but it's better than nothing and will clearly show that you are not a new player. Yes I know a big number next to your character in the endgame screen will do the same, but a diffrent icon AND a big number will impress more.. impress those that care anyway.
-
For the bloody clothes, yeah it will take a bit more time to get.
For perks, the amount of bp you have to spend in the long run is way way reduced.
And yeah, BBQ and WGLF having the bonus bp removed is sad, but you will get a similar effect (I think that's how it will work) with the match incentives. (As in if there are less survivors at a current moment, you will get bonus bp for playing as survivor. And vice versa).
So all in all, it's still a big grind reduction.
And hey, there will still be events and bloodhunts from time to time (bloodhunts mostly before some bigger updates) to earn bp a bit quicker.

How can you farm when survivors are taking 4 flans and doing everything possible to AVOID contact with the killer.
My games are ending within 3 minutes and you can never see them so it ends up with me just tunneling one guy down because the others are enjoying the gen simulator.
Fun goes bothways.
You jinxed it man, I literally got a tournament team my last game xp.
I mean some people can manage, but not when I'm just using random perks with a killer I'm prestiging.
But yeah fun goes both ways.

Care to explain what makes OTR so op?
I guess the part where you have endurance and 7 % haste for 80 seconds ? But like.... you won't do the objective, just can take A HIT for your teammate somewhat for free.
Which is yeah, annoying and in some scenarios strong, but I wouldn't call it op.
(And yes, I know you didn't ask me, but the guy that posted he comment)
-
XD, maybe one day.
-
Ha ha ha.... no. I just don't.
-
For a horror aspect, dead by daylight is actually not the game to go for, sorry if that was the reason for initial purchase.
On paper and (usually) in practice it's still fun. Both sides.
I hope they are really gonna shake things up with the changes to meta perks. Make the games a bit slower, and more about hiding and running the killer well.

Pretty sure you can continue to contribute if you have it selected... mine says 214
Funny, because I saw mine was at like 73, but then it showed 40 again.
Really confusing, and now just sad to know that it doesn't count further.

True, but my small Grief with that is, that I still got stuff on Page 4 to do, and for some reason they decided it's a good Idea to shave a Week of the usual 4-Weeks for Page 4, so now you only have 3 Weeks while having the Event Tome on Top of it, so I really would like to know if it's still counting after the 40 I need for Personal Progress, since I'm done with every other Quest of that Page xP
Yeah that was my concern as well.
But atleast now we know that your personal contribution doesn't go past 40 (sadly).

Well another thing that's not really clear is, if I contributed 40 Checks/GenKicks already, do consecuttive Checks/Kicks keep getting counted towards the Global Progression, as long as I keep the Quest active?
I was literally typing that rn xp.
I can't remember if there were other community challenges, but I think for the sake of it we should just do the event archives and then just have the community challenge active (just in case it counts beyond 40)

Maybe the facecamp was regular behavior, but the first one literally threw the game to ensure I wouldn't escape bc he saw me finding the invitation. Doesn't matter much either way, I'm playing killer instead so I use flans and get all the BPs without the sweat lol, I'll go back to survivor when i'm done with the killer challenges, things should be alright by then anyways.
That's fair, but then ######### xp.
Didn't they know the invitations respawn so everyone can get them ?
Anyhows I hope you still get to enjoy the event.

Yes absolutely, a little bit of sweat is expected when there's higher stakes (even when I don't mean to i often make less BPs when i use a party streamer because it makes me play more cautiously). Survivors and killers being under pressure and playing more sweaty isn't so bad, what's sad is people playing for the sole purpose of stopping other players from getting a reward, even it means less BPs for them as well. On the bright side with the new system we can get all the rewards from playing killer, so the rewards aren't lost but the fun on the survivor side is certainly going to be lacking for a few days.
Yeah sry, just read the examples you posted about.
That's just normal (unfortunatly) low skill behaviour from killers.
The fact it happend during this event and that those were your first games just aplified it.
But still use flans tho, atleast for your self.
-
Yes sir ! (To answer the title of the post)
But that aside, I think most people turn their mindsets to be more casual or farmy (as in they focus on getting points rather than "winning"), but there are still people who play normally or play sweatier because they know people will play less sweaty so they just...... take advantage of that. Yee.
Well atleast thanks to anniversary
cakesflans you can still get a bigger amount of bp than usual, even if you get sweats (then you actually get the usual amount, but hey. Normally you would get less to nothin so it's still something) -
I agreee with this message.
-
From my experience using it, the recharge is a bit punishing, even if you use a faster recharge add-on but if I was better it is literally impossible not to get a hit with 3 blinks.
From my experience facing it.... can't remember if ever. Double range or double recharge add-ons are way more common because they let her get hits she couldn't normally or be way more aggressive than she can be.
-
Atleast with newer killers they included limitations to their power around a hooked survivor.
Maybe it's just complicated to include those changes to old killers, without reworking them...... AGAIN. (Thinking of canibal and hillbilly. And I guess hag and huntress could fit, but they weren't ever reworked as far as I know)
-
Well there is going to be a masquarade skin, that's for sure.
I think I can imagine the picture in my head, but also it wouldn't really work because of how dredge's model is. A wide blob with a long and smooth head and just smoke/fog instead of legs. I think Artist has long dresses and long necks covered, but one made from smoke does sound nice. But again, wouldn't work for dredge's model. And I guess lore also.
-
I mean the penalty should stay, but tune it down how bite the bullet does it. And maybe just remove the sound of the gen being worked on, instead of just reducing it. Or yknow what, keep it reduce, but apply it even if a teammate doesn't have it (please !)
-
Oh, it's so cute ! And isn't just "ah yes, a gay/pride flag." Clever idea.
-
My first mains were doctor (because idk) and claudette (because blendette).
Now I got ace p3 for the sweatier games (he's really quiet if you crouch injured), and am jumping from character to character. I wanted to main Steve because I did decide to get the jonathan skin, but idk. Maybe if I get better perks for him.
What character would I choose if I started now...... Idk ^-^; Most likely stealthy peeps, like ace claudette zarina or adam.

Like 30 $ when stranger things was saying bye bye. Oh wait add an extra 10 $ for the classic ghostface 50 % off xp.
Other than that I just invested the 10 $ or so to unlock the premium rift and that's that.
-
I don't think I posted about it, but a way to buff condemned: make tv's that are turned on build up condemned to survivors around them how the videotape does when you hold it.
Maybe the build up would need to be slower than when holding the tape, but it sure will increase the survivors interactions with tv's.

I thought the prestige rework was going to come out with the Anniversary mascarade (around 17th June), so i'm confusion after reading the comments.

We can't just turn dbd into Evil Dead the Game man.

I've had the exact feeling a while back. I still get anxious when I try and adept or don't have a build I'm comfortable with.
I don't remember what changed, but I'm pretty sure in the beginning I just made myself power through the first few games, and then it's smooth sailing from there (since you get in the rythym and mindset of playing killer).
The other thing I can recommend is to always try and have some exhaustion (let's be honest, mainly dead hard) perk counter. Fearmonger is great on stealth killers and oke on some high mobility ones. Blood Echo us a god send on Legion. Or maybe even (I know, I know) unrelenting on m1 killers.
To sum up, idk which part of playing killer makes you anxious, but for me I'm sure it was/is the worry of facing tryhards (which are in most games), and I'm going to screw the whole structure of this sentence, but I just realised somethin. Playing killer is just stresful in general. It's a 1v4. And having no information perks in a build is really stresful as well, because you don't know where people are (thinking barbeque and chilli / discordance / spies from the shadows) and you have to make decisions based on your instinct or some little information that you got (or just guess that survivors may be in A spot).
But yeah... um. Thx for coming to my Ted talk :p. Idk, playing killer is fine, specially if you are bound to solo q as survivor. Easier to get BP too as killer. I hope my experience helps you understand yours and yeah. Atleast there will be a way to warm up before playing when bots get added, ey ?

At this point, I have the feeling that they didn't want to release what the reward is because they're still deciding themselves. It seems like they might have a few ideas of what they want to do, but they're waiting until they smoothen everything out before announcing. They probably also don't want to accidentally announce a promise that they might not be able to keep.
From a business perspective, they probably could be doing this to squeeze in more playtime and get people on the grind because the reward is a mystery. Although, this business decision also comes with some consequences because they risk facing big outlash if the prize they are giving is not "special" enough. From the amount of hype they had in their stream, I feel like they probably just didn't have a concrete decision yet on this topic and that's why they didn't say it. They packed that stream with really big announcements for "cool" things, so leaving this out probably meant they didn't want to promise something that wasnt 100%. It just backfired a little because mankind is too curious for their own good.
Smart point.
Unfortunate tho, especially with the bloodhunt for an entire week and then a community event. You can get so much bp rn, but idk if it's worth prestiging or unlocking other teachables (actually I would prestige a particular killer, but I have some discontinued offerrings on him and don't wanna lose them.)
-
They're working on it (I hope), be patient.

Never heard of him, but sounds cool.

Its a really exciting thing really.
Also trickster might not be scary or Monstrous looking. but I think his whole point is the "Surprising Killer" person who doesn't look like a killer
That's true.
-
I mean they made Trickster literally to maybe hook some k-pop fans on the game, so Attack on Titan is also more of a marketing choice (as people are saying), than lore/theme decision.
Also I think the early concepts for the outfits are a decent adaptation of the anime into the dbd reality. Look wise.
-
Les think for a second. What do other exhaustion perks do ? Give a speed boost and let you make distance (nvm, remembered that Head On let's you turn a locker basically into a pallet to stun a killer).
Dead hard gives you the least distance, but in return gives invurnebility.
In order to nerf it, they should either remove the invurnebility OR work on hit validation.
Yeees, the invurnebility and distance is still annoying, but dead hard shouldn't be this all might "remover of mistakes". I know earlier it worked as intended (you dodge a hit, but the hit goes through you), but sometimes left people exhausted on the ground. I also know that I don't know how hard it is to program and even how long it took to fix the old hit validation (as in move it from a client side to a server side if i remember correctly).
So ye, those are my thoughts. I know if they keep the distance it will still be annoying and extend chases, but atleast it won't be as ridicoulus (like how you can dodge over a bear trap, or not get affected by doctor shock, or how you can basically tank a hatchet and shield a survivor from it and all the other stuff that I don't have time or there isn't a need to list)
-
Is alr for what you have.
If you wanna be toxic tho, Hex:Pentimento, Hex:Plaything, Hex:Ruin, Hoarder. The pressure against solo teams is enourmous mid-game, but I wetn against one good team and the only perk I got to use was hoarder, so take what you will from this.
-
The challenge is painful, yes. Funniest thing is, I had a match on The Game where they were looping a killer above me and I was just chilling on a gen. But ofc I didn't cleanse 15 totems so I didn't have the hide challenge active :(. Can't wait to be useless in some match later I guess :/
-
1. Boons aren't nerfed into the ground, but yeah the anti-boon perk was needed way earlier.
2. The dredge's teleport isn't instant (faster in nightfall tho) and true, the anti-loop (teleporting back to the remnant) is just too much.
3. No. Yes, more ways than flashlights, looping and pallets to defend against a killer would be nice, but no guns, knifes and such. I mean lore wise YOU are trapped in an evil entity's realm. The odds are supposed to be stacked against you (but we know how that goes usually).
All in all.... idk. A lot of things happen or change (maybe for the better) but way after the fact. As for boons, they are nice but not op anymore so adding an anti-boon perk now is... not pointless but too late. As for Dredge, he is still in ptb, so changes are obv to happen.
I wonder if the perk rebalance sill shake the meta up :)
-
I mean only now we will get the option to view the archives/store while queing, so maybe one day we will be able to change aura colors.
