1v4 solo q is unplayable, doubt most survivors are happy to go back.

I agree. As a solo survivor, 2v8 was the most fun I had in years

My main concern with many of these statements is that they place all the blame solely on the players, particularly killers, for employing certain strategies. These strategies didn’t emerge because killers wanted to annoy survivors; they developed over thousands of hours as a response to the current state of game balance. When survivors play at a competent and efficient level, the game can progress so quickly that even securing a single hook can feel like it costs the killer the match.

The solution isn’t to keep patching these issues with add-ons or surface fixes but to look at the overall balance of the game. Fun, diverse playstyles should be rewarded on both sides, ensuring neither is made overly weak while encouraging a fair and engaging experience for everyone.

Efficiency drives the meta on both sides, and these strategies are often a necessity rather than a choice.

I agree with you. That is precisely why I play 2v8. None of these things matter in that game mode. 1v4 is absolutely terrible balance wise. Solo Survivor gets his cheeks clapped while swf is dancing around just flying through the gens. The efficiency strategies mostly do not apply to 2v8 and even if they do people don't care/aren't bothered by them because it is just so fun/relaxing to play. The pressure is taken out of the game :) that is what a lot of people enjoy. A fun party game where you are chased by killers :,D

  • Why do you get to decide that it is the core? Keep it as the main mode but also add 2v8 for the more casual players who just want to enjoy themselves. Having no perks (just some abilities) keeps the game simple and relaxed. Felt amazing to play it.

  • or maybe it is for people who are no longer willing to deal with the nonsense of the main game? Every killer running gen regression perks, camping tunneling and slugging. The FUN aspect no longer exists in normal dbd. It is just about efficiency and getting things done as quick as possible. That is not the case in 2v8. Killers always have something to do/chases hooks and so do survivors. It is more interactive and actually fun but I guess you do you mr competitive player lmao.

I just wanted to share my experience as a solo survivor.

I had a lot of fun on the 2v8 gamemod. Games felt amazing, you had always something to do and rarely just sat on a gen from 0% to 100%.

As a solo survivor, I could see what my team chose and could adapt my choice. Once in game, survivors plays and decisions were more natural and understandable because I knew their roles, and they knew mine. Games felt more coordinated overall.
I loved playing scout and trying to give as much info as possible by following killers and creating resources for my team.

When downed, killers immediately hooked survivors.

Since the cage was teleported, they could not camp hooks and defend objectives at the same time. It did not feel like the usual situation where the hooked survivor is next to the generator and the killer would just camp.

Lasting 15 seconds while being chased by 2 killers felt amazing and getting double-slapped was fun.

Games felt swift and were not extended by some "gens patrolling" or slugging.

But since it stopped, I had to switch to 1v4, but it feels terrible.

    1v4 :

I have no information about my team perks. It can be frustrating because miscoordination will often result in terrible mistakes.

This lack of communication and information implies less interaction between survivors. Most of the games does not feel like it's a 4v1 game but more like a 1-1-1-1 versus 1 killer game. Most of the time solo survivors only interact with one another when unhooking and healing right after.

The game feels slower overall. You just sit on gen and nothing happens.

Survivor to killer relation: Only chases and some killer powers bring interactions.

Most games, killers just camp hooks (and tunnels if you manage to rescue) or slug.
Those who do not camp or slug while trying to spread hooks ( average 8 hooks before first death) usually lose the game (2 escapes).

I absolutely agree with you :) 2v8 is just that chill relaxing game mode where you can just meme around and have a great time. Not the sweat fest efficiency I must get 4 kills or gen rush the gens in 3 minutes type game.

  • They won't do anything as they do not care about survivor :) just a heads up. They will say things like just take unbreakable haha as that will solve anything…lmao

What I mean for "Best Chapter" is not necessary "Strongest Character/Perks" but moreso how polished the content was, the content feeling fair and balanced, and the concepting feeling well thought out.

For me personally, I think All Things Wicked (Unknown and Sable Ward) was the best Chapter BHVR has ever release.

The Unknown is generally good, dare I say leaning towards strong, but still has a lot of room for playing and counterplay on both sides, and their perks feel alright but definitely not strong, just kind of the middle. Sable Ward is an alright Survivor, their perks are decent but not insanely busted, just overall feeling well rounded. Grenville as a map is alright, it has a huge abundance of pallets but a majority of the pallets are weak to supplement that.

The Concept for the All Things Wicked chapter feels well rounded, the teasers we got we interesting, and didnt give us too much information about the chapter but just enough information to hook players in and create hype for the chapter's release.

To me, All Things Wicked felt pretty well rounded upon it's release and honestly sparked back my enjoyment for the game when it came out.

What about you, what do you think is DBD's best chapter?

    Unknown, Myers or Wesker

Do you guys think fnaf might beat it and become the next highest player count in dbd history? It has the most liked post in dbd twitter so maybe it might has the high player count

As long as the killer is fun to play as and fun to face. That is the case with wesker. Not with alien and chucky which is why the player counts did not rise there

This shift in playstyle was bound to happen, but it’s really not the end of the world. BHVR just needs to roll out a better matchmaking system that pairs up players who actually try with others doing the same. Solo Q isn’t bad when you’ve got a team that knows what they’re doing and doesn’t throw in the towel at the first little inconvenience.

THIS. Solo Queue is very bearable with people who know what they are doing…it is the terrible teammates that you are paired with that ruin the game and not the killer they face most of the time at least.

  • Show a video cause idk what you talking about? Shack and Tp is suuuuuper far away from each other? Literally on the other side of the map?

  • @Clocktower6 said:

We have been blessed with so many cosmetics and items in this game but the character roster is only getting bigger and bigger and there are bound to be some characters that get less than others. Who is someone who you think deserves the next newest skin/cosmetic?

  • @MrDardon said:

The most frustrating thing is playing solo Survivor and getting the usual teammates, then switching to Killer and get stomped by a 4 man swf or at the very least 4 good Survivors. This scenario happens way to often and it demotivates me to play this game more and more.

It is always the same…getting the most incompetent players in my team as a survivor and god gamers with 20k hours each as a killer

  • Honestly they should have at least given enough shards to buy even one event skin from the shop…like the mummy dwight…but nah too much to ask I guess

  • I wanted to buy it too. It was for like 1.8k… I guess they removed it to get more cash

I'm not sure what happened either. I feel like it's been going downhill for the past couple years. I've been mostly playing killer this week despite the incentive being on survivor. Not even the extra bp is enough.

I feel ya. I might give killer a shot but then again I really enjoy just playing chill survivor games with the additional exciting chases :,D sad that that's basically not possible anymore.

  • @Rxstevo said:

This happened 4 times now and it always ends right before I hook the last survivor at the end of the game. This is clearly a dbd only issue either since I can play any other game without this happening. So sick of potato servers

same with me. We are almost out and boom disconnected. It wasn't a killer dc but server issues

  • @Sandt1985 said:

Should the game be balanced around 4 individual survivors who MIGHT work together against the killer but mostly do their own thing, or should the game be balanced around the idea of a team of 4 against the one killer?

Please understand, there is no middle ground here. It’s one or the other. The two styles of play are, by definition, diametrically opposed to each other.

As soon as that question is answered with a majority opinion swinging in one direction or the other, then we can start talking about survivor buffs. Because frankly, survivors can’t get any meaningful buffs until it’s decided how the survivor gameplay needs to be balanced.

Add action debuff to swf lobbies. 2 survivors queu up together a total of 10 % action debuff aka instead of doing a solo gen in 90 seconds it now takes 99 seconds a third member makes it go up to 15% and a fourth one to 20%. This way playing against swfs will be a lot more manageable. Buff Solo Queue….add things that solo queue survivors could profit from. Add comunication tools, pings, new emotes for communication somethiiiiiiiiiiiiiing. Show us in the UI when a teammate is running because you never know whether someone is going for an unhook when you are doing a gen or not… Solo Queue is just overall terrible right now. There is a lot they could improve on without making it close to as broken as swf is. It is literally 2 different games. Balance killers and incentivize them going for hooks and not for kills as that would allow a more enjoyable experience for both sides. It takes away the stress of getting kills and gives survivors more room to breath. Give an action debuff for every hook the killer gets or something until someone dies. The moment the survivor dies, that debuff is turned into a buff for the survivors: Getting 1 hook → 1-5% debuff to gen speed. Killing that survivor turns it into a gen speed buff for all remaining survivors.

You cross paths with another DBD player who is curious on the state of dbd in 2024. What is something you could tell them about the game that would cause them to stare at you with concern, confusion, or disbelief?

    Example: "Survivors have flamethrowers, bro"

Enjoy it while it lasts because you are heading towards true misery you have never witnessed before.

  • It is always winnable. The problem is that there is no reason to go through the hassle. There is no incentive no reward no rank system to climb there is nothing but misery in solo queue. Especially when facing a disgusting safe loss killer (Nurse, Blight etc.) there is just no point in staying. Might as well end it as fast and possible and go next. The solution is to INCENTIVIZE THE PEOPLE TO STAY AND PLAY IT OUT. Rank system, end of season rewards, something…but no after almost 10 years they still did nothing. Add MMR for no reason into a casual game and expect people to just play out games that have like a 5 % winrate. No wonder they off themselves.

All that know is: when you have his cam on your back, you can force him to tp behind you. If you have a window in front of you when The Singu will tp, he will be forced to tp outside, behind the window.
    In disorder:
    - If you have to drop a pallet bc he is close to you, the best is to pre drop if you have enough time or if you have his stuff on your back because depending to his add-ons or something else, if he turns pink in chase, he will insensible to the stun the few next seconds and he will probably M1 regardless the pallet. So you can faint & to hope he will miss but dropping anyway is a waste of time & resource. The best counter seems to be using the vaults as much as you can do…
    - The Singu uses (sometimes? often ?) 'Coup de grâce' (The Twins' perk) to have an extended lunge during chases & to hit you during a vault or close to a pallet.
    - He usually lurks his cams after all hook to spot survivors on gens or in open areas… You can anticipate this & to sneak behind rocks, logs or structures in the environment to avoid his next tp on you.
    - If you don't have his stuff on the back, you can make him to miss his spy shots with faints behind cover or disabling the Pod during chases (or someone else can do that for you when you are playing in SWF).

I'm writing all this but I'm not a decent player countering The Singu but I'm used to watch some good players doing a very good job against him, so I know it is feasible.

Hey those are some really good advices :D thanks

During a recent match, a survivor has spent his time hiding from the killer.

When his 3 teammates where dead, he got the hatch.

Then, like the fool he was, he gloated about it in the the chat.

    A true facepalm moment.

I wonder if, one day, he'll understand that if instead of hiding he'd took a few chases, then maybe the killer wouldn't have won.

Maybe one or two more could have escaped instead.

I wonder how many survivors don't realize hook stages are a resource to spend to ensure the survival of your team.

While I do agree with you the other survivors especially solo queue survivors do not owe you anything. They queue solo so they can play like lone wolves. How many times has it happened that you did exactly that and then died on first hook? It might have happened to them one too many time so now they are done playing for the team. They contribute and give it their all but they will not go out of their way to put themselves in an unfavourable position/situation simply because of your incompetence to stay alive.

It's becoming more and more that people start slugging at 4 or 5 gens remaining for several minutes or tunnel and/or proxy camp for the most part. This was in the Chaos Shuffle game mode and some players just keep ruining the fun for everyone involved. It's like this community is allergic to fun.

This game mode is supposed to be fun, refreshing, NOT in the meta and it's supposed to bring out different playstyles, yet people do boring stuff and it just sucks. Slugging has become such a big issue in many games now, I've seen many people complain on many platforms and it's just ruining the game I loved for so long and put a lot of money in.

it is always the same thing bro. Idk if they will ever do something against it. Killers will just say: Just take unbreakable hehehehehehe…..bro? Maybe I want to use other perks? Like what. The direction the game is heading towards is absolutely terrible and I guess they won't do anything about it especially considering solo queue.

as a killer main I try and see both sides (I’m biased so let me know if I’m wrong) but I say having that would be have it not start until other survivors or the killer is so far away. So survivors can’t just make the killer wait to pick up my running in with flashlights or waiting near pallets, but if the killer leaves yea give them the up.

Absolutely valid point :) why not try it out. The problem is they don't even try tackling these problems as they simply could not care less. Solo Q is in the gutters right now and there really is zero incentive to keep playing this absolute miserable abomination of a game…It could be sooo good for both sides but I guess that is too much to ask. Add action debuffs for swf lobbies and make solo queue experience better by improving it.

  • @AmpersandUnderscore said:

Base kit unbreakable has always been a terrible idea.

Slugging is unfortunately sometimes necessary, but excessive slugging isn't. There's zero reason to slug all 4 survivors until bleed out, for example.

Just allow survivors who have been slugged until the "find help" stage to let go on the ground and go next.

True. Honestly tho like what is it with killers feeling the need to win? It literally gives you nothing? You don't climb a ladder, you don't get cash you gain absolutely nothing. This is supposed to be a casual game. They should really focus on chasing and hooking so the devs need to incentivice these actions more. Make it that when one person is one the ground for a minute or when one is dead the actions get an action buff making gens faster etc. And whena survivor picks himself up he gets an action debuff of like 20 % or sth like that for the rest of the game. There are so many possibilities. These devs are just absolutely terrible focusing on the next clown cosmetic or some ######### like that.

  • @TheSingleQuentinMain said:

For context, I'm a killer main. I find that in games where you don't tunnel, it's more fun, but not only is there not a lot for survivors to counter it without having a loadout geared towards that (Decisive, BT, Sabo builds which are just as effective if the killer is choosing not to tunnel), there's not a lot of incentive for the killer to not tunnel, except for having more fun. So, here's my reality fanfiction anti-tunneling incentive. Please, sincerely, call me out if this is way more op than it sounds in my head.

The killer can see the hooking states of survivors, so you know which survivors are furthest from dead hook. When you hook a survivor who has had the fewest hooking states, there is a ten second period where gen repairs are slowed by 10%.

If my wording is funny, here's what I mean:

In a game where there's a Meg, Feng, Dwight, and Jake, if I first hook Feng, all gen repairs are slowed by 10% for 10 seconds. If I then hook Feng again, I don't get the bonus, because she's not one of the survivors who have had the fewest hooking states. If instead I hook meg, than I get the slowdown. If I then hook jake, and dwight, same thing happens. Now, since all survivors are equally hooked, if I get Feng, I'll get that slowdown from her once more.

If a survivor has been killed by any means, the slowdown is removed. If a survivor has been unhooked in the past 45 seconds, the slowdown won't trigger if I hook them.

Hell…Make it 20 percent xD If you hook a different survivor (not the same one who just got off the hook) all survivors get a 20% gen debuff for 10 seconds or for however long. It is literally a valid solution…I mean you can tweak the numbers but there should be more incentive not to tunnel.

what are your thoughts on the current state of dbd?

no- this is not a post to start anything. Just want general feedback.

My thoughts- the game was fun, but lately hasn’t been. I play both killer and survivor. Killers get a ton of aura perks even if running current distortion(I don’t usually run it but my friend does) it’s useless. Hearing about the rework kinda made me see what direction dbd is going. I’ve been playing since 2020, and honestly I think it’s about time to call it quits. I’m sorry but a killer should not have 3 modes and be able to have pyramid heads power. Being able to teleport across the map is crazy. (Dracula btw). It’s always anti pallet, anti vault locations, aura build. I really wish auras never became a thing. Use your skill and headset to find survivors. Then adding more aura perks… sigh. Killer is way too easy and survivor is way too hard. I’m curious to know draculas kill rate at this moment. What about reworking legion or doctor. It’s just not fun anymore. I guess solo queue has become a thing of the past. All my friends are quitting because the game is never fun. Getting humped on the ground, getting bled out on the ground, toxic teammates sandbagging on purpose. Teammates giving up. I just don’t get it. After the PTB notes it seems as if there is more slugging going on. I would love to see some stats since the PTB and what draculas kill rate is at this moment. Is there a way to see that?

Also- queue times for late night or early morning dbd on east coast have been so horrid. I shouldn’t have to wait 10 minutes to find a match. Is there something being done about this? And yes- cross play is enabled.

love to hear everyone’s thoughts and advices. Please no arguing. Thank you and GG dbd enjoyers

Solo Queue is terrible. That is all I know. And it won't ever get better.

I see a lot of people discussing which killers they hate seeing, so what about the ones you do like? Which are you excited to see in your game?

Personal favourites for me are Oni, Pyramid Head and Unknown. Oni is genuinely terrifying (and outlasting his power feels great when it happens), and the latter two are just fun to dodge/evade. Good chase themes too.

Wesker, Myers, Billy, Leatherface. Basically very dangerous killers who still can be looped. No bs killers like Alien…

stopping generators is no longer the killers goal because survivors complained.

killing survivors is their goal, slugging is a means to do that.

    have a nice day.

then they should change that goal to hooking

  • This is not a team game… It CAN be a team game but does not need to be as 1 person can just escape through the hatch. You can choose to play the game however you want so you also should not have to rely on your team as a solo queue player. In other words if my team does not choose to pick me up I should not be forced to waste a perk slot for it especially after being slugged for so long. In addition to that this is a party game. It is not about winning or losing. You don't gain or lose anything from it. It is supposed to be fun for BOTH sides. Laying on the floor for multiple minutes not being able to do anything is not fun and should therefore not exist. Hooking should be encouraged. Idk maybe add like a 10 second stun resistance to pallet stuns after downing a survivors so they are incentivized to pick them up and if they don't you get yourself up with basekit unbreakable. I am not saying to destroy killers I am looking for solutions to make this game just overall less miserable for both sides and in this case we are talking about the survivor side especially. They have to nerf swfs that ######### is just disgusting and make solo more enjoyable to play.

  • honestly just introduce speeding up the bleed out at this point…just let us kill ourselves.

I have admittedly used strategic slugging but never, not once, come close to leaving a survivor slugged for 60 seconds. What on earth would any killer be doing to need a survivor slugged for that long?

    that's what I'm saying……

  • If you have 3 people slugged they should have to choose to go for a chase and get the 4k quickly or to hook the people…this is a game bro not a competitive experience, It is supposed to be fun and engaging. Crawling on the floor for 4 minutes is not interactive at all.

  • I was being generous xD and they are even against that :,D Since I don't want survivors to easily be able to pick themselves up since I play both roles too. But after a whole minute of being slugged you should definitely be able to pick yourself back up.

  • @Caiman said:

Shouldn't killers get punished for leaving one of the players in an uninteractive state for literally over a minute?

No. Their entire goal is to incapacitate you. Your goal is to avoid that. That's what the game is.

You should not be forced to bring perks to avoid that…

  • @Caiman said:

That's not incentivizing, that's punishing. And there are many situations where killers are already punished for trying to pick up survivors, so you're just applying punishments no matter what they do. That's not how you fix problems.

Shouldn't killers get punished for leaving one of the players in an uninteractive state for literally over a minute? Idk about you but IMO they should get punished… Staying on the ground for over 60 seconds and basically being forced to bring a perk for this situation is truly misery in itself and should not happen. The solution is called pick someone up before 60 seconds…they literally get a whole minute? If they don't want to that person gets to pick himself up and continue playing the game….

I'm not sure you know what the word competitive means. DBD has two completely different sides competing against each other. It's the very definition of competitive. There's nothing about the word that implies parity.

How can you say it's not a competitive game when the modes have a V in them? Do you know what the V stands for?

Do you not understand that unless both sides have the same tools to win which clearly is not the case here it can't be a competitive game…people can compete in it for the win yes but it does not make it a competitive game. Just because people compete in Mario Party does not make it a competitive game xD

  • @Choaron said:

All online PvP games are competitive.

No they are not? Games that give both sides the same tools to win (League of Legends Gold/XP/Champions/Runes/Towers etc) CS (T & CT) etc are comp games… DBD has 2 completely different sides and therefore can not be a competitive game :) No matter how much u would want it to be
