Yeah I think it was better this way. It'd either be tokenism if they made a new one or "changing" if they revealed an old one so they couldn't win, and I'm more than happy with this. His story ties up loose ends from his first tome and helps provide representation, as well as just being one of the best written tome stories there are (shockingly, Twins' story is also pretty class). Moreover, revealing a character people are attached to is better than making a new one because of the paywall issue and also that people are already attached to them, rather than making someone whose lore could be as disastrous as Jonah but also be gay causing a bit of a conflict there.
No, this was definitely the better way to do it. I wish they'd saved the Twitter announcement for when his Tome level opened up and the story was available, but outside of that I'm more than happy.
(And for context, I am a gay dude).

Umm... yes. If I were to find out anything I don't like about a character I like I will voice my opinion about it. I found out about David King on twitter. I don't read the tomes or the lore stuff in DBD. Thats why I keep saying less is more. The less I know about these characters the better.
If you don't care about the lore then please stop discussing the lore because with every word you utter about the lore it makes it seem like you do, in fact, care an awful lot about the lore.

Video games are an art form, and art is always representative of the creator's societal views regardless on if you want to see it or not. You can always ignore the lore, if it's so irrelevant to you, instead of being pressed that gay people dare to exist.

Hey Linda,
This is a confirmed and acknowledged bug. I don't know why the map hasn't been killswitched because of it, but it is entirely possible for a totem to spawn in a spot which is entirely unreachable.
Hopefully, it should be fixed in time for the next Bugfix Patch that usually releases in a couple days, but we can never really be sure.

As a gay man, this is my opinion too. Many other gay people will say I should be grateful for any representation.
To them I say, get better standards. Making a character, that they know the fanbase play cause he is 'hot', gay is not progressive, supportive or appropriate representation.
I'd you want a gay character, make one with their own backstory. They've literally just launched a new male survivor who could have been gay.
Yoichi is licenced, so he can't be made gay on BHVR's own standards, and before that is... Jonah. A war criminal with no sympathy and who doesn't appreciate just how ######### his actions are.
If Jonah was our gay rep I'd feel insulted.

Nah for the moment I still vibe with the Corrupt/Pop core because it's proven itself to me and 4 perk slots is really limiting lol. First perk to go is probably BBQ for Call Of Brine or Deadlock but that needs me to give up bloodpoints

Mm. It's...complicated, but broadly - yes, I am. As so far as any sort of sex-ed goes in a scholastic context, I'm as against heterosexual sex-ed as I am against homosexual sex-ed for kindergartners.
It's not entirely sexual but yes, it does have an intrinsically sexual component - which is why we refer to it as a 'sexual identity'.
I don't think you can really detach 'attraction' from sexuality, because that's broadly what attraction is. It's not some vague notion of two souls finding each other - we are very much where the falling angel meets the rising ape, and 'attraction' mostly comes down to us wanting to pass our genes on.
I'm also not saying 'never', but I am saying that 5 is way too young to broach anything like this. And if that makes me some sort of retrograde dinosaur, so be it.
Generally though, school based sex-ed shouldn't be necessary at all. The fact that it is necessary is a failing of parents.

But I am saying that 5 is too young to be learning what 'gay' means. 5 is also too young to be learning what 'straight' means. Because 5 is a time of life where you're only just starting to understand what reading is.
I'm fine with this stuff being taught...frankly, I think 4th grade is still too young, but it's definitely better.
I totally disagree that kids have any idea of gender norms at 5. I don't think kids really even have a solid concept of gender at 5.

Well so long as you're fine about fairy tales being about a woman and a man being together then good for you, at least you're not hypocritical about it.
The problem with DSG comes from the fact that heterosexual everything is perfectly fine, and hearing about a husband and wife being together is perfectly fine and encouraged, and yet 2 husbands is suddenly a horrific crime, inappropriate, predatory, etc.

He had a crush on a boy as a kid. His parents somehow figured it out and basically banned the kid from ever coming over again, but they went to the same secondary school so started dating in secret. When Tristan wanted to be introduced to his parents, David broke it off because he knew how it would end, and began publicly dating girls to keep his parents' attention and affection despite having been effectively disowned.
He was never into them, but he did it to avoid being ostracised even further from his parents and to keep one remaining thread of connection with them.

I really hope you take this argument and are entirely against any and all forms of children learning about heterosexuality too, then, because homosexuality isn't, shockingly, intrinsically sexual and it's a mistake to believe it is. I had feelings of being gay since I was a kid, and proper education would've been an absolute godsend into making sure that I had any form of stable mental health. It also helps to correct issues of bullying and homophobia in children.
That's the joys of education, you can easily fix the mistakes of the parents if you can teach people otherwise. It's when you're not even allowed to teach that you basically lose hope of ever helping to create a better generation.
Then again, after our many other discussions on this topic, I can't even say I'm shocked at this development.

It really is though, at least in the modern West.
Or maybe things are changing (which is honestly even worse) - but I remember a golden era back in the late 90s and early 2000s, where it...really wasn't a big deal. I mean, we had two gay chaps in our residence at Uni and they were just other dudes. We were even able to have a bit of fun banter with them.
If only our experiences matched up. This really isn't how things are treated in the real world because while most people are like "oh that's cool whatever" it's the people in power with the prejudice and they're really trying to make our lives a living hell and get us back to pre-60s legislation. So, sadly, it will always be a big deal until the war against our existence at a legal level is finally over, which won't be for a hell of a long time if I so much as glance at Florida, Texas, or the UK Gov and conversion therapy.

Let's do some counting!
There are 30 playable survivors within DBD and 10 are licenced, giving BHVR 20 to play with. David King is gay, giving then 19 more survivors to confirm. One of them is allowed to be aromantic, asexual, bisexual, pansexual, trans, etc. New characters are also constantly added, meaning this number will only continue to go up.
I'm gonna be honest, it'd be way more insulting for David to be the token-LGBT+ character confirmed as every single letter within the acronym. That'd be genuinely disgusting.

Spirit having a horrifically abusive dad after losing his job, only to then have him find out that the Yamaoka bloodline won't even continue? Abuse continues and she works double jobs just to stay out of the house for as long as possible. Already established as something she did in lore, links to the underlying themes of the chapter since it's first release, etc. Spirit could be good if written well especially since she's one of the more sympathetic killers
