Yeah no actually I'd be fine with a lot of these. The Box, maybe not, but Plague's Corrupt fountains always spawning as close to the middle of the map as possible, Pig traps always needing at least 2 attempts, Trapper's traps always taking at least 2 to escape from, more standardised map spawning so they can be balanced better- like RNG really causes a lot of problems with this game so removing a lot of it can help them to fix longstanding balancing issues

Edit: like, personal experience here, when I look up the LGBT+ tag I look for predominantly LGBT+ games. One gay character isn't this and I'd be really disappointed if I saw it there.

Grades aren't supposed to reflect skill, they are supposed to reflect playtime. Honestly the depip should be removed entirely because of this.

People were going too be bent out of shape regardless of if the first LGBTQ+ character was David or a new character. They will always deflect their true feelings by saying BHVR should focus on fixing the bugs instead of releasing new lore and cosmetics, like we would ever truly believe them. Sure, the bugs suck but I for one expect them in ever patch and update.
I'm beyond happy David is gay and I'm super excited for more to come.

Just vibe for a bit and it should appear naturally, and if it hasn't by tomorrow I'll try and forward this to a mod so they can check it out.

1) He was never confirmed to be straight, gay men have had straight relationships in the past and it's actually common. He isn't "suddenly rainbow".
2) Refer to the sign
3) It takes nothing away from the gameplay experience and only humanises the characters further. If one doesn't care about it then they would, of course, remain silent and continue to not care- however for some reason everyone that's said they don't care seem to manage to find objections to the inclusion, leading to the conclusion they do actually care.

Because they're the norm. We live in a heteronormative and cisnormative world because they are simply the majority of people. Why would you need to advertise them, when they're presumed cishet-until-proven-otherwise by a large amount of people? When I see a country where cishet people are having their rights stripped away from them by LGBT+ people, I'll eat my words, and until then I shall point you happily over to the direction of the USA so you can see just how this is happening to LGBT+ people in real time.

Get the acronym right and maybe you won't be seen as a bigot. It's not difficult- 4 letters, actually, or 5 characters are all you need. LGBT+. You can make it LGBTQ+ if you want but LGBT+ is fine. As it stands, the second someone makes a keysmash joke they're automatically seen as being anti-LGBT+ because it's an insensitive, tone-deaf, and quite frankly unfunny joke to make.

Criticising the movement? No that's fair game. It's when it turns into blatent transphobia, homophobia, LGBT+ erasure, etc. that it starts to become an issue. And, thankfully for me and not so thankfully for you, the person I was responding to has been homophobic and transphobic in other threads, and if I was allowed to post deleted comments I would more than happily supply you with ample evidence. As it stands, I enjoy not being banned, so my word and the words of others in this thread are all you'll get.

A new character would've worked, IMO, provided it has enough character development. In that regard, David does work a bit better because he has a lot of established lore already and you're not gonna get that with one page of backstory on a newcomer.

Unnanounced: Would've been the way to go. The lore isn't out yet. David is only gay by 'word of god', not by the character's design itself. This would be rectified once the lore drops. Yes, people will pick up on it and start broadcasting it, but that's fine. The problem is that BHVR jumped the gun and announced the character is gay before the character's development reveals it.
You mention tokenism as a thing, but I think a key part of what makes tokenism a problem is that it specifically serves the creator. A bit of self-aggrandisement. 'Look at us and our d i v e r s i t y'.
That's my problem with the early announcement. When you come out to draw attention to the fact that you 'did a diversity' before the lore's even out yet, you're already fulfilling one problem component of tokenism. You've put one foot in it already, now we're just waiting to see what the other foot's gonna do.
