When did solo queue teammates ever have BT though? Or at least the ones that actually unhooked you never did.
You make an excellent point which is yet more evidence as to why solo queue is awful

I'd have to vote for... Honestly anyone but Pig. She's been tarnished by a certain nonce streamer who's just an all round dick and harassed me for being colourblind lmao.
But if I had to pick out one specific person, Wraith. Definitely the cutest of the bunch.

I sat in the game for 10 minutes, realised my mistake, then kept doing it because at that point it was a test of egos and I was not losing to a cheater. So I left and went for a walk.
In future when this happens I just leave. I cannot be asked to sit and wait for it. I have the recorded evidence to report it, and then I just dip

In EU it's simple, if they're Russian (and you don't have to guess if they are, they'll tell you that), it means they're using a VPN, but in their case it's not really cuz they want to, but have to
tragically it still isnt that simple, because the closest server to Russia is Frankfurt, which is in fact an EU country.

Well a lot of games (Escape from Tarkov) have ping limits. The devs can see your ping and even if you have terrible internet you shouldn't be playing online games and ruining other people's experience anyway. It can be mostly fine in games that are actually based on a dedicated but for whatever reason everything in dbd is based off of what the killer sees. The killer is the "host" of the game but it's actually played on a dedicated server. My first suggestion would be to make the game actually server sided and not killer sided.
now making the game server sided i can absolutely agree to, but you cannot prove if someone is using a vpn or not. thats my point. therefore, even if it is technically bannable, because its physically impossible to prove theyd have to also start banning for bad internet.
-
@gendoss said:

People have legitimately been DDOS'd and swatted on TWITCH because you are actually uploading and hosting your info. Not on dbd.
Putting the entire DDOS thing to the side, how would you prove someone is connecting via VPN and not a combination of terrible Internet, server placements, and matchmaking?
-
@gendoss said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3101717#Comment_3101717
Just saying that your internet went down unexpectedly for 4 hours is not actual proof of anything.
Aight so let's also ignore the testimonies of other users like @Pulsar or even Twitch Partner Elix who was DDOS'd and SWAT'd live on Stream just so you can continue your hate boners for people who don't inconvenience you at all and then accuse people of VPN'ing with no genuine proof of it at all because you cannot prove someone was connecting via VPN.
-
@gendoss said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3101700#Comment_3101700
Well I think the DDOS thing is a myth. Your IP only shows your general area and not a direct location. I don't even think you can get someone's IP from playing dbd lol so that's not a valid excuse to be using a VPN. If that's not true I would like to be proven otherwise.
My Internet was completely disabled for 4 hours because my brother got DDOD'd on his Xbox One S and I was using my hotspot for my PC. From then on, I've always played via VPN.
Also "not a valid excuse" the server delay in connecting from London to London (DBD) is about 0.5ms shorter than going from London to London (VPN) to London (DBD). I can promise you if someone's playing in their own region their VPN won't be doing anything to the connectivity. It's when people connect to other continents it becomes a problem, but then how exactly do you prove they were using a VPN and they don't just have terrible Internet and live far away from the servers? There's no DBD server anywhere in Africa- are they VPNing when they get to London or just bad luck they didn't get into Frankfurt which is the actual closest?

300 hours player, mostly as survivor, and are you not a beginner? Man, you're such a beginner.
Marigoria was not the original poster.
-
I guess it depends. Using a VPN by itself isn't cheating, because I know for a fact I use a VPN to connect from London to London to the London DBD server just to help avoid DDOS attacks.
If you were using one to get from, say, Kazakhstan to NA, with the express intention to exploit, then yeah I guess it is. But then how do you prove that they purposefully used software to do this and it isn't just the DBD Matchmaking system combining itself with server placements to just give really terrible ping all day.

Do you not find that he is very easily looped? You can't turn walls that fast with his dash and if you miss an attack the punishment is so severe.
There's a trick called wall running you can employ. Basically you can just hug a wall at an angle and slide along it so you come around a corner already facing where you need to go which severely increases your chase capabilities. It takes a while to get the knack of it and I can't do it because of motion sickness but it's something.

Never seen a year long No Way Out but it wouldn't shock me

Combine Deadlock with like the Plaything/Pentimento combo and it feels like gens take forever to complete, especially when you decide that oopsies that's not good enough let's run it on Nurse. Whack on Lethal Pursuer and 2 range addons and whew boy have fun to those survivors
-
Thinking that while gen defence, camping, and tunneling are the best options people won't use them if they don't have to is the exact type of positive naivety that's been missing on the Forums these past few months.
While tunneling and camping with stacked slowdown is the best strategy to employ, that will be what people will use. We've seen time and time and time again that the fun strategy and loudout isn't always the strongest, and a vast majority of players would rather take the strongest one in.

You know you could still run regular BT, it even got a buff in this patch.
The problem is that my wonderful solo queue teammates seem to think that 5 seconds is plenty when it absolutely is not, and BT doesn't apply to myself.
Honestly Off The Record is the only thing that's saving my solo experience right now.

My incentive is that Sadako eats so many pallets that Enduring is closer to a QOL feature than an optional perk.
Can confirm that stacking 4 slowdown on Nurse w/ 2x range is a very easy way to win though. That's nice.

My favourite times are when I'm accused of doing nothing with iridescent Chaser, Lightbringer, and Benevolent emblems. Like I was singlehandedly carrying the team on my shoulders but because you didn't see me clicking at the killer from on top of a hill (and then going down 5 seconds later) I was automatically doing nothing to you.
Like, some survivors genuinely do nothing all game. They're the ones that end of 8k points despite dying last, somehow. 25k points is not nothing.

This last mid chapter patch was a big one, there were a lot of changes made including base changes. We are very well aware that it is going to take time for this to settle down and it's something that we are continually monitoring and if we see the need to make changes to things further down the line - that's something we will do.
However, we're not making knee jerk reactions here - if we do see things that we know are going to be an issue of high importance we will of course make changes in the planned Hotfixes, there might also be further changes made down the line depending on how things play out once players have had time to adjust to a lot of the recent changes.
Dead by Daylight is a Live game, it's continually evolving and changes made based on this. The plan of this update was to increase kill rates as those were lower than we would like. It will take some time to fully see the extent of the changes made, players adapt etc. This update and the after effects of this update is definitely something we are monitoring closely.
2 things
Firstly, love the name change
Secondly, even if I'm not 100% happy with the update I'm really glad to see that the knee-jerk reaction of times past won't be repeated. Means we won't get a repeat of Old Freddy (and hopefully, we won't get a patch like 1.9.2 again where the knee-jerk nerf is needed)

But old undying had a limit of 4 cleanses, circle of healing doesnt, im not saying that old undyin + ruin wasnt busted, im just saying that old undying in the current game would be balanced, plus plaything has to be cleansed 4 times to stop working and nobody complains about it, its balanced
And I'm saying that one thing being busted is a good reason to nerf the busted thing, not bring back a different busted thing.
Old Undying was not healthy for the game, and until solo queue is fixed via better information and a matchmaking system that functions it will never be healthy for the game.

Killers have the same problems with boon totems unless killers bring in a perk then survivors can keep blessing over and over again with no limit to how tames they can do it until you kill the survivor that is running the perk we/devs need to find a middle ground between the two that does not include perks.
This is a great argument to nerf boons (aka COH because Shadow Step is decent, Exponential is trash, and Dark Theory is genuinely one of the worst perks in DBD while COH remains busted) and not to bring back Old Undying.

Yeah accessibility has unfortunately always been a mess with this game. I'm amazed there still arent simple things like muting your own survivor's puking locally (killer still hearing it fine.) it's a simple fix for people who get synesthesia from things like that.
As well as, you know, all the ones that have had dedicated topics get ignored.
Hell updated maps like Haddonfield are still a photosensitivity nightmare with the flashlight lights and the darkness of the houses really don't help eye strain.

Sadako and Doctor were visual only. Dredge's entire mechanic is obfuscation, and if you tone it down any further (or to PTR levels like you suggest), the killer is then Sadako levels of craptacular.
FOV is a similar issue - narrow FOV means motion sickness for some, but a wider FOV means killers can see more, which makes them stronger.
Disclaimers - absolutely. I have zero problem with warning people that - hey - maybe this game isn't going to be a great fit for you, or at least be careful. But there is a trend, right now, of people equating mild personal discomfort (or more generally, the possible discomfort of a hypothetical other) with some sort of immense systemic problem and that rubs me up the wrong way.
Just look at the trypophobia teacup storm recently.
"Sadako and Doctor were visual only. Dredge's entire mechanic is obfuscation, and if you tone it down any further (or to PTR levels like you suggest), the killer is then Sadako levels of craptacular."
Nowhere did I suggest to tone it down to PTS levels. I'm well aware that would make the killer useless. There is, however, a middle ground between "literally impossible to tell a difference" and "diyeyestrain.com"

It's unfortunate, and you and I will likely disagree on this - but you cannot account for every potential accessibility issue when making a game or character, especially a horror game.
People have myriad phobias, ranging from spiders to clowns to knives to vomit to deep water to tiny holes to blood to heights to open spaces to darkness.
People have motion sickness.
People are photosensitive - I have serious trouble with flashlights at times, as sudden bright lights or strobing give me a migraine.
People have Long QT, so jumpscares, or even sudden movement are also out.
And those are only a handful of the common ones.
You can do stuff to help colorblind folks, for instance, as this doesn't interfere with or give an advantage in gameplay - and there are always small adjustments to be made (Dredge has already had two), but after a certain point it just isn't feasible, unless you want a horror game with almost no horror in it.
You cannot cater to everything, no. What you can do is avoid the common issues as best you can and warn against others, such as with a photosensitivity disclaimer. Eye strain I thought wasn't common facing Dredge - and to the degree I suffer, it is rare - however a lot of people have complained about some form of eye strain like a lot of people complained about serious photosensitivity issues with Doctor/Sadako. If Doctor and Sadako can be toned down to accommodate, then so can Dredge.
(Also, motion sickness can be fixed by not tying FOV to perks and instead just giving us an FOV slider. Helps accessibility and is just an overall good QOL feature to make everyone comfortable).
-
@JawsIsTheNextKiller your time has come

Without proper in-game testing (which I can't do at the moment because I don't have 3 different devices) I can't say for sure but from my understanding of how DBD calculates everything the wiki's maths are correct.

That's...how the ability works. Your counter is map knowledge, game sense and situational awareness. Honestly, Dredge has an incredibly loud ambient 'squelching' sound that he'll make when he's nearby.

I appreciate that, but I felt like on the PTB Nightfall was kind of irrelevant, and didn't really have much impact because it was too easy to see.
I wonder what could be done to split the difference.
You're completely correct in that it was a non-factor and that's entirely why it was fine*.

I just go to the corner of the map and wait it out so I don't have to worry about my eyes rupturing. All the filters they use are annoying. They had an orange glyph challenge that added some screen effects and horrible sound and I wanted to quit the game. I finished it tho, Claudettes science girl outfit had to be mine.
I haven't touched the Level 1 Glyph challenge and don't plan to tbh.
Honestly I kinda glance at the screen every now and then but mostly rely on hearing Dredge approach and chase as I watch something on my second screen lmao

it’s not the not seeing past a short distance that’s the problem, it’s the black filter on the screen. At least, that’s the part that makes my eyes hurt personally.
This ^
I was fine on the PTB but with what feels like a majorly reduced FOV on top of the filter on top of losing distance it just all combines together into one big headache that leaves me playing with my eyes shut half the match.

Tragically though my name involves the shortened version of the name which makes that one slightly impossible. Naturally if I'd know at the time of choosing that people wouldn't be able to fathom for even a second that a minor inconvenience to them (of needing to use what is actually a shorter a name than Karu) would cause this much strife I would've gone with GBK to begin with. Tragically, Forum rules prohibit this, so you're going to have to get over it. A tragedy, I know.

R. O. F. L. Imagine being picky about how people say your online pixel name
Imagine seeing someone politely asking someone else to not use a specific nickname and deciding that, no. This is your time to shine. This is your protagonist moment- you'll save this internet stranger from the dasterdly clutches of someone being polite about a question they were asked. It's time to show the world that you're a hero- and also display that you're lacking a complete sense of empathy or common decency to boot.
You don't know why I'm not comfortable with the name "Karu" when I don't know the person, and I'd rather not tell you, thanks. But it's just like in person, when someone prefers to go by their full name and doesn't like it being shortened. Take the name David; if someone doesn't want to be called Dave, you don't call them Dave. You be polite and respectful to someone who has yet to interact with you in any other capacity other than the two words "That's great" instead of trying to be condescending and demeaning. You're not the next Regina George, so I'd really stop trying to be one.
If I wanted to be called Karu, I would have made my name Karu. Notice that I did not, and therefore I do not. My name is GoodBoyKaru, GBK for short, and I'd appreciate it if you could remove yourself from the idea that the world revolves around you to note this for just a second.
Though from your comment history, I really don't know what I was expecting. You wouldn't know what manners are if they ran across the street in front of you naked.
