Oh what is protect the VIP? Is one of you the VIP and the others like risk their lives to get you out no matter the cost?

Yeah basically it. Made more fun when Meg decided to use OoO when they were the VIP. I ended up using Autodidact, Dead Hard, Iron Will, Blood Pact (then when I was VIP it was DS/UB/SG/DH with a key but let's not focus on that part). It was great fun and I hit some sick beamer saves too.

Dang I'm actually playing killer right now so maybe the process has started. I'm enjoying myself so that's good.

I'm slowly being converted back into playing survivor again by playing Protect The VIP with @BigBrainMegMain and a couple other friends lol

It's just that how are these guys even considered "high rank." It confuses me. Then they can't do anything productive. It makes me consider becoming a killer main because then I dont have to have bad teammates holding me back.

It makes me consider becoming a killer main because then I dont have to have bad teammates holding me back.

This is literally what I did lol

  • Blight is only harder than Nurse because he's unplayable with the throwing up. Apart from that Nurse is harder and stronger in every way- Blight, without his power, can fall back on being a 115 killer with Mobility. Nurse can't do that.

  • All good- be glad the forums bugged out because I wrote a bloody dissertation the first time round lol

  • Well the forums hate me so I'm not gonna type all that out again (the above comment), basically @Boss here's the stream timestamped to the question:

    https://youtu.be/WXbh4jwENSw?t=1260

And here's my summary of the question, taking from this post:

Several People- Will we have an option to disable anti-aliasing?

"For those who don't know, AA is a technique to smooth out the pixelated edges in a 3D game. When turned on it usually looks prettier, however it has a cost to performance, and many people dislike the effect that it gives. Recently the ability to disable AA was accidentally removed. This is being worked on as we speak. Designs for menus are being worked on, and the menu system is also being redesigned for more options. Expect this in the "Not too distant future". No patches given yet. (Patrick)"

Changed up the formatting because the forums hate me.

  • There was an error rendering this rich post.

According to the article Goodboykaru posted "which resulted in three million copies sold with $42 million in net sales", I dont know much about how corporations work and invest their money but I suppose BHVR had more than enough money to pay Starbreeze and do not incur in any kind of debt.

To add onto what @Orion said, Starbreeze got a cut of that money for being the publishers, and the $12 million they got from the deal was to be paid in royalties- in other words they continued getting cuts of the DLC sales and Auric Cell sales and actual game copy sales until they reach $12 million. It's completely feasable that they've reached this already, but also entirely possible that they haven't and are still paying these royalties.

  • Visionary

You're remarkably focused on your means of escape.

You see the auras of generators within 32m of you. Your teamamtes also see these auras.

20 seconds after a generator is completed, Visionary deactivates for 30/20/10 seconds.

    Thought process:

Buff a perk to give more information that SWF get for free. Personally I wish things like this would be base kit (your teamamtes seeing the auras you do) because that's then a massive solo buff whilst not touching SWF and will help balance the game, but sticking things like that onto perks is the next best alternative. Suddenly it's become a very powerful solo tool.

I added in the "20 seconds after" caveat because the time you need the perk the most is right after you, or your teammates, need to see where they are.

I stream so I do have OBS setup to record dbd. But the game is in real time so it wont just stop to let you open it up and start recording, so a lot of things that can be reported ( hacking/cheating/bugs/griefing) are just missed.

I do still report them when I am not streaming, but I shouldn't be expected to have a recording software open to try to catch everything that happens. I'm lucky enough that my pc can handle running DBD and OBS at the same time, but not everyone is as fortunate.

Hence why I also talked about GeForce Experience, or a different piece of software with Shadowplay. Also from my experience, if someone hacks once they will several times.

It's not an ideal solution, I'm well aware, and I wish it wasn't the case, but this is the best option you have right now.

Nerve = nerf. It took me a moment to see where she was going as well.....

Being fair to her, she uses google translate to take things from her native language (which I think is French) to English, then back again with our comments- we had this discussion yesterday. Her English really isn't great, but she's trying to learn it; you learn what she means after a certain amount of times seeing it.

  • @Marigoria said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1662859#Comment_1662859

    That is just not helpful.

Not everyone has OBS, some people who do don't have it set up to pick up Dead By Daylight so they would have to waste time setting that up.

If it helps at all, it's free to download and setting up display capture (or game capture too) takes literally 5 seconds. I agree it's not the best but having something like OBS or even GeForce Experience (which also comes with Shadowplay) that's fairly simple to set up can be incredibly beneficial, especially to recording your dbd games in case of a hacker or cheater. And, like mentioned previously, consoles always have the option of Shadowplay too.

  • @Marigoria said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1662853#Comment_1662853

So do they just expect people to have a recording software on 24/7 when they're playing?

What about console players? I'm assuming they can't even record gameplay.

You can always tab out to open up OBS or something. Console players have Shadowplay enabled allowing them to record clips of their gameplay easily afaik

  • According to this article:

Developer acquires the game it made from its publisher

Bhvr payed $4 million, followed by another $12 million in royalties. Considering how Bhvr is one of the more reputable companies that treats their employees well, doesn't overwork and pays a very very good salary, I'd say yeah there's a chance they're still paying this off.

She's considering coming back, and wants her special magic skins to still be exclusive. Else I'd be able to have her account and my own pretty shiny Napkin skins

Happy to be of assistence <3

  • I think one reason people like to hook farm but not totem cleanse is because hook farming gives you altruism points, whilst cleansing gives boldness. Obviously you can get boldness from interacting with the killer, which is significantly more fun than holding M1 for 14 seconds.

But hey, Inner Strength procs so it's worth.

  • It's called a Dumb Tech, and basically as @Auron471 put it, if you know what it does it makes the survivor look dumb but if you don't then it makes you look dumb.

Also, it's a really dumb thing to do, hence its name, and why it's so much fun.

    Okay, thank you so much!

I was aware of the difference with how leveling up works (blood web seems much better tbh) but its nice to know I got it right. And thank you for listing the base characters, I mainly play Trapper,Myers, and Spirit though, so I'll have to buy Myers and Spirit Lol.

And thank you for explaining the tomes a bit, the blood points will be a big help to begin with if I can grind some of those out.

Also, how do you technically unlock the teachable perks? For mobile they unlock when you reach 20, 30, 40 but how does it work for Pc? Is it through leveling up, or do you have to do other stuff?

Again, thank you for all the help!

Okay, if it makes you feel better you can unlock The Spirit for free with shards. You get these through levelling up your account.

So, you know how you unlock perks in the bloodweb? Well, you can purchase Teachable varients at levels 30, 35, and 40 (depending on perk level), and can prestige once you reach level 50. The Teachable version of a survivor's second and third perks don't appear before you've purchased the first perk, which is something to note. For example, you couldn't unlock Dead Hard (David King, level 35) without first unlocking We're Gonna Live Forever (David King, level 30), or unlock Self Care (Claudette Morel, level 40) without getting Empathy (level 30) and Botany Knowledge (level 35).

Anything else you need, or if that wasn't clear, let me know. :)

So, I just started playing this game a couple of days ago, and I was enjoying it until I saw an entire game cheating.

Basically, it seemed like a normal game. The killer was chasing us all around, and seemed pretty good. I helped one of his victims off the hook, which is when he appeared and stabbed and hooked me. No one helped me down.

I decided to watch the end of the game. I thought watching better players might help me see how to survive longer.

I saw the remaining three survivors and the killer working as a team. The killer lead the survivors to generators, and watched them fix them. He then watched them all escape. The final survivor waited in the exit area for the killer to strike them, he then let the survivor crawl away to victory.

The whole thing was strange to watch. Does this happen often? It seemed like everyone knew what was going on except me.

This isn't necessarily cheating. It's a process known as "farming", where players will try their best to prioritise points over anything. Killers may farm if there's an early disconnect, or a survivor dies very early (as seemed to be the case with you, since nobody saved you). I'll admit, it's a bit suspicious, but not necessarily cheating.

  • @LSerpentine said:

Because I haven't gotten to actually play yet (rip my 50gb storage, and 4gb ram laptop rn) i was curious about a couple things.

    1. I would assume bp is interchanable between surv and killer as it is in mobile. If not, please let me know.

    2. Do you start with 1 perk slot with the others opening at 3, 5, and 10? Thats how it is in mobile, but uh, things are different with the bloodweb so im not entirely sure.

    3. Which characters do you start with? Ive heard that its claudette, meg, jake, and dwight but im not 100% on this.

    4. Okay, so the archives or tome give you fragments for the rift, now, if those are still open from previous times, do you still earn the fragments, or is it only for the ones for the current rift challenge type things?

(I can't articulate that very well, apologies.)

Now, is this a bad idea:

I plan on playing killer at first and then using that bp to level up my survivors, just so i can get my usual build on them right from the start. Is that a bad idea? I play both killer and surv, but usually play more survivor so i'd like to have that ready to go as soon as I can.

    Thoughts?

Someone's already answered this but I want to as well so here we go.

    1. Yes, they are. Capped at 1 million.
    2. You start with all 3 unique perks unlocked at level 1, with 1 perk slot available. The rest unlock at levels 5, 10, and 15.
    3. Since you're talking about your laptop, I assume we mean the Steam version with no DLCs. In this case, you get the following characters to begin with: Dwight Fairfield, Meg Thomas, Claudette Morel, Jake Park, Nea Karlsson, David King, The Trapper, The Wraith, The Hillbilly, The Nurse, and The Huntress.
    4. Old Tomes will give you bloodpoints for completing challenges but no fragments; only the Tome linked to the current Rift will do that one. For example, we're moving into Rift V, so only challenges from Tome V will grant fragments.

Some other things that are different between Mobile and everywhere else:

    • Characters do not share an inventory; items, add-ons, and offerings you unlock on one character are exclusive to that one character. For example, getting a Sport Flashlight on Claudette doesn't let you use it on David, or getting an Ebony Memento Mori on Trapper doesn't let you use it as Nurse.
    • Characters level up with the bloodweb. AFAIK on Mobile you level up through playing as them, on here it's completely different. You also don't get perks from leveling up (technically you do but it's different).
    • There is no Bloodmarket. It's instead replaced with the Bloodweb, where you spend points on inter-connecting Nodes instead of going up different tiers. The Bloodweb is how you unlock Perks, Items, Offerings, and Add-Ons.

Also in terms of your bad idea, I'd say not really. Make sure you're comfortable with the killers, though, and you spend your fair share of points on them, but using those points to then level up your survivors seems good. I say be comfortable because don't go in after having played nothing but Wraith expecting to be a good Nurse.

I think that's it but feel free to quote/tag me if you need anything else. :)

  • Perks

    • We'll Make It
    • Iron Will
    • Hope
    • We're Gonna Live Forever

    Character

If possible, Yui Kimura. If not possible, Claudette Morel, preferably with her Prestige shirt + trousers and default face. If neither of those two are possible, the Feng Min.

The characters are picky, I know, but there's a very good reason for it.

I don't remember the original borrowed time but I don't doubt that for a second.

As someone who remembers it vividly, here it was:

    • One-time use perk
    • Would protect the unhooker and the unhooked
    • 40 second bleed-out timer (later reduced to 25 seconds)
    • You needed someone else to heal you, or self-care/a medkit, to heal from the bleed-out timer
    • It didn't pause in a chase
    • It didn't pause whilst being healed

I read your sentences, I know very little English and when I associate certain known words I understand what you mean (without using the translator) .. why not do the same, you speak better English than me..

The translator doesn't translate your sentences correctly, I imagine mine doesn't get through either.

In short, the Doctor is smoked (in French, the Doctor is OP), it is a French expression that Google does not translate into English.

I have nothing else to clarify, the Doctor is OP in loop, after a discharge you have to wait 3 seconds before jumping for you it's easy to counter .. i guess😗

Okay, thank you. I have no knowledge of French idioms, having only studied German and English, so I couldn't translate that "smoked" meant "overpowered/OP". The clarifications makes this significantly easier though; thank you.

I couldn't associate words because, like I mentioned above, idioms don't translate (since they go word for word) and I don't know any French ones.

I disagree that the Doctor is OP- he needs to time his shocks really well and sometimes Dedicated Servers means their vault goes through anyway. Plus, he has no movement ability, so you can just rush gens across the map.

  • @Tactless_Ninja said:

I know it's a killer perk, but do all your suggestions have to be so sadistic?

How about this: Two basic attacks and if a gen is over 85% progression, it stops for 8/10/12 seconds and glows yellow.

It's a gen protection perk so it should give you some leeway to run off to protect it.

to be fair i did say i hadnt put any thoughts into the balancing of the numbers i just wanted a snazzy effect lol

In fact to understand it is not enough to read, it is like the Spirit, you have to guess. Without offense sir 😀

Thing is, guessing in a game is kinda understandable but guessing what you mean when it makes absolutely zero grammatical sense is a completely different story; from what you said I could infer the Doctor isn't made from smoke and actually 3 seconds before vaulting a pallet or a window they turn from fog to solid objects- which again makes no sense.

It's up to you, who made the statement in the first place, to clarify what you meant, particularly when it makes no sense at all. No offence, seriously, but you made no sense at all in English. There's no other context outside of this thread to infer from- nothing- no way for me to make heads or tails or the Queen's royal behind of it at all.

So, again, please clarify what you meant.

Well if he's FF'ing you that many times it's probably costing him the game if y'all are properly spread out and yeah I mentioned the healing is fine if you've got healing perks. Which if you've got healing perks and you're spread he's really wasting a good bit of time.

Anyway I get your point, I guess it just seems like a non issue to me.

Oh it's not that he's strong- he's definitely throwing by doing it like a Doctor is throwing if they just spam shocks at loops, but it's just annoying. Not strong, but annoying (at least to me). When the fun part of the game comes from interaction just holding M1 for a long ass time ain't doing it for me.

  • @Elena said:

  • @Blueberry said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1660894#Comment_1660894

Look at it this way. It's actually less time holding M1 because you aren't healing at all against him all game. You'll save more time not healing than you will have added time Mending. I don't even count skill checks seeing as they're so easy and insignificant they might as well not be there.

It depends how many times he Frenzy's you, and what perks you're using. For example if I've got Autodidact or We'll Make It, healing won't take me very long to do (bar the initial Autodidact parts) and whilst I admit skillchecks are braindead easy and boring (he says whist still managing to miss them) at least it's something to keep me paying attention.

    Not sweetie

Okay, I really really don't mean this in a nasty way, and I'm well aware English isn't your first language, but what the ######### does this mean? Seriously, I don't see any parallel between Doctor not being made of smoke, or being smoky, and my original comment. I mean absolutely no offence but what the ######### does this mean? Myers isn't a fun killer to play against, he's op like Nurse, Spirit, Freddy. Only fun killers like Wraith are worth sticking around for

I'm sorry could you repeat that with eye-contact so I know you're being serious.

Provided your teammates share multiple braincells (which, I admit, solo survivor so it's very unlikely) he's easy to beat due to being able to trap him in T1 for so long.

to be fair nurse's blight skin will be entering the store this halloween, according to leaks. not 100% trustworthy so it's not a guarantee but yeah.

  • @Blueberry said:

I don't know either, they both seem fine to me.

Only way I can see people finding Legion annoying is if they don't know what they're doing and they just keep self caring after every FF...I mean jesus, that would be annoying. Please stop self caring and even healing for that matter after every FF unless you have a medkit or a healing perk that makes it faster.

Basically he's only hated by people that aren't playing smart. Just stay injured people, he's weak.

It's more the Snap and Mending for me. More time spent holding M1 instead of doing something fun, like being chased. It's just dull, especially when they frenzy you then leave and you're like "aight cya man" and proceed to hold M1 for 12 seconds before returning to 80 seconds of M1. At least Snap has skillchecks; Mending is just holding a button.

  • Overhaul it all.

    Gearhead

Gearhead activates after a survivor has been working on a generator for 30/25/20 seconds.

When Gearhead is active, the survivor repairing that generator has their aura revealed for the duration of their repairs.

Gearhead deactivates after the generator begins regression or is completed, and has a cooldown of 30 seconds.

Gearhead can only reveal the aura of one survivor at a time.

EDIT: Let me clarify these numbers are no-where near finalised and I haven't considered balance situations with them yet.

  • @Jill10230 said:

One asks for a nerve of the Spirit but one does not ask for a nerve of the Doctor.. look for the error!

People don't ask for changes to these killers because they're dull but that's about it. They're annoying but not broken and have easy, reasonable counterplay to everything they do. Spirit breaks the game. You figure out the rest sweetie.

  • @sulaiman said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1660807#Comment_1660807

Well, SWF goes against this entire principle as well. And there is no perk to help against them, and no counterplay to them sharing the information they got. I think that why a killer that messes with these information is a good addition.

You really didn't read the comment where I say "Yes killers suffer from this too and this should also be fixed"

Again, as I've said many times on this forum, and so have many others, the best way to deal with swf is to buff solo information then yeet killers up in buffs. Spirit existing is unhealthy for the game rn, especially with the current state of solo-q. That'll be how you counter swfs- it'll be taken into consideration with game balance when solos have the same info as SWFs do.

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1660784#Comment_1660784

And because killers have that issue it should also be fixed. Just because one side has it, doesn't mean the other has to; both shouldn't. The same with no counterplay (especially with the Ds/Unbreakable/Soul Guard combo), it should be resolved for both sides.

That's like one person having £6 and one having £2. Instead of giving the other £4 to make it fair you're opting to take £4 from one person which just makes both people unhappy.

Literally Re-read my entire comment I'm saying that the issue shouldn't exist for both sides.

  • @Jill10230 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1660778#Comment_1660778

Guess? Just study the killer's style.. that's what I do against Spirit and it works... Not always, because sometimes the killer is just good, like Nurse and that you can't do anything about it!

One perk against it is enough, Spine chill! It is the perk that allows me to counter it. With the big loops it's easy to use it, , not against with the small loops it's a guessing game. It is the principle of the Spirit and it is what makes it unique... If we remove it to her she will become a normal killer, without surprise... as much to take Spectre it is the same and we perceive the survivors.

Yeah let me study how the spirit plays with the 6 chases I'll get with her and manage to play perfectly on the 6th. That's assuming your team are competent and save you before 2nd stage, and they'll heal you, and you don't get tunneled.

Using perks to make counterplay isn't good game design. Spirit is an awfully designed killer who goes against the entire principle of the game; using information to trick survivors, or using information and recognising it as false or not, and playing accordingly. Spirit just takes that information and yeets it to the sun.

  • @ClickyClicky said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1660790#Comment_1660790

It should but the developers seem very selective about which they go for and which they don't. At this point I would give up hope of all of it being fixed.

Hopefully, and this is me guessing and being very very positive, their plan is to take bad survivor perks and very slowly buff them like they did this mid chapter (but better obviously) then when there's a lot of good perks (not just meta, decent, and #########) they'll nerf meta ones down to good or decent.

    Again I'm being positive here.

And then fingers crossed they'll do the same with killers like Spirit (maybe Nurse again but this would need them to yeet her entire power because if they make her cooldown any longer I'm screaming), they'd be nerfed, and then Leg and Clown etc would be buffed up to make killers a lot more consistent in their power level.

  • @Jill10230 said:

Killers have the same issue with perk slots and no counterplay to some of the survivor perks.

The guessing thing is a bad argument too.

1: Rank 1 survivors know it's nonsense! Why ? Because they know the Spirit. Only the low rank players are lost, how many don't engage in a chase with the Spirit thinking she is a nurse 2.0 when she is the strongest killer in the game. You shouldn't engage in a chase with the killers when you don't know them! The Doctor is much more cheated than the Spirit in loop (as in all in fact) and nobody says anything... the Spirit it asks for training, time to understand...

2: As says Clickyclicky we can hear it but it requires training to the sound. If the killer has to train why not the survivor?

3: I spent the night on her last night, I destroyed SWF teams with ease, because I know the Spirit today, even better than the nurse. I just had to listen to the sounds! Despite the birds flying away the survivors didn't have time to understand where I was.

4: Moving the grass? Useless anyway, because the new maps bring more vegetation, which means that the survivor will become paranoid and will necessarily make the mistake of looking at the grass every time instead of his loop environment, and will scream at the nerve again for his own mistakes?

5 : Maps like LAB don't have grass...

6 : Nerve the Spirit = give her something in exchange...

7 : The sound bug... sometimes when I touch a survivor I can't hear his moaning anymore, even with Stridor... Sometimes when I touch a survivor I hear it again, and it happens to me very often and it's a serious disadvantage for the Spirit !

8: If the survivors can see the grass moving, why can't the Spirit see the survivors as well (like the auras)... well, that would be really fair!😀

I'm afraid of nerves ! You can imagine, the survivors would be able to looper the Spirit so easily... They would be almost invincible ! I find the gameplay of the Spirit even more fun than that of the Nurse, because the Spirit is based on surprise... JUMPSCARE

Spine chill can counter the Spirit phase (of all stealth killers), it helps me a lot against it, especially during loops.

Ah yes, the perfect counter: a perk! Let me just slot this on with Kindred and an obsession perk and Iron Will, oh Fixated + Sprint Burst is good vs spirit too right, let me stick those, and I've got-

    Oh.

Oh no it seems I've got more than 4 perks.

Using perks to create the only counterplay to a killer isn't good game design. Everything should have a counter at base in this game, which Soirit currently lacks. No, guessing isn't counterplay. No, don't get hit isn't counterplay.
