This mockup is the best we're ever going to get and it's me taking a random guess and hoping because we haven't gotten anything substantial.

Too many people complain about the devs, and this game overall. It's an AMAZING game. It's imperfect, as are 99.9 percent of games, but it's amazing nonetheless. The fact that they've stuck with it for this long and keep supporting it, keep pumping in ways to get cool stuff, keep providing freebies and incentives and ways to get boosts in-game, is just awesome. I wish more people appreciated the work that they do. Most people probably do, they're just not vocal about it.
A question though: as I was NOT here for the community challenges, what does it mean that, for example, people could get together to unlock a map (as described in the OP)? Unlock it for what purpose? All maps are already unlocked so I'm confused as to what the community challenge actually does.
I LOVE the bonus rift fragments, the crown and the bloodpoint bonuses. The Pride charm is great but it's gonna make my survivor stick out like a sore thumb, lol.

Okay so I wasn't around for this either but here's what my friend 3x0tic told me about that time. Basically, the devs set a time frame and a challenge- get x amount of hooks, x amount of generators, etc. Across the entire playerbase. This then caused them to release rewards, one of which was the map "Groaning Storehouse", which wasn't in DBD when the game launched and was added later due to one of these challenges.
To use an example I was here for, the Feng Min Phoenix Shirt. If you go to Feng Min, the shirt will be unlocked. It is for everyone and has been since we completed the challenge. However, prior to the Howling Grounds event (2018 Lunar New year event), nobody had the shirt. Through collecting a certain amount of Burnt Coins (killer currency) and Gold Coins (survivor currency), we would unlock a bonus cosmetic. And we reached the goal, getting the Feng Min skin unlocked.
In terms of what these community challenges will unlock, it'll most likely be the two skins and charms (Wraith + David King anniversary skins, and the Naughty Bear + 5th anniversary cake fingers thing charms). However, there could be more rewards too that we don't know about, and most likely won't until they reveal them.

I'm not against this charm or anyone wanting to feel like something represents them in this game before I even start this thread I want to get that out of the way.
I saw where the dead by daylight team said they would count targeting those players in game as harassment if they had the charm, and this is concerning because what's stopping everyone from throwing the charm on and claiming discrimination and then the Autobahn system about to come into play on top of this, it's opening the door for salty sore losers to get people banned if they choose and I do not approve of this I don't think anyone should be banned unless something is said in chat regarding the player having the charm, how are you gonna say don't report for tunneling and then give some special immunity I want clarification from a dev or mod on how this is gonna work because honestly it opens the door for alot of bullshit reports of people taking this game too personal like it's real life abd assuming someone did something "just because" . Again I'm not against the charm but I would like some clarification to how that's gonna work.
Here's one such example.
To quote @MandyTalk from that thread:
@Mandy said:
If you're playing normally and not actively targeting someone because they're wearing a charm - then you really have nothing to worry about.
There is no change to our game rules, targeted harassment has been in the game rules for a very long time.
-
honestly i think i cause too many issues to get trusted. the amount of times i see a comment of mine has been edited by a mod to remove something is alarming and I'm incredibly shocked I haven't been nuked from the platform.
Not that I'm complaining Mandy please I'll bribe you with donkeys or cats or anything just don't ban-

The problem is not a lack of education. I understand that you want a video game to put a trinket in the game to somehow validate your orientation. Great. But it still doesn’t seem like a necessary addition to me. it’s a fictional horror game where monsters kill people. Not every minority group has to be included everywhere. But Behavior will do what they want to please their customer base. I’m sure that’s why there is a pride flag and not one for BLM, Asian Heritage Month, or any other marginalized group of people.
The thing is, they already have black/asian survivors and so having a BLM/AHM flag isn't the be-all and end-all. They do not have an LGBT+ character confirmed in the game, nor any LGBT+ relationships. They've shown they care about representing minority ethnicities but nothing on sexuality, so feeling noticed after years of asking is a pretty major step forwards.
So yes, feeling validated feels good. We already know this thanks to Fog Whisperer Friskk and her reaction to Elodie. "I feel like I'm seeing myself in a video game for the first time."

You're entitled to your opinion, as am I to mine. In the end, the important thing is that we respect everyone regardless of sexuality, race, and gender.
Respect everyone's race, sexuality and gender until it comes to representation at which point anything lgbt+ is purely political and should be kept out amiright?

Then I'm not playing killer anymore because anyone can pull that "they targeted me and slugged me because the charm BS" I guess survivors get to be as toxic as possible and if I'm toxic back at all and they have a charm I'm banned I'm so done with this game I swear the stuff you guys come up with is mind boggling, I'm 100% dropping the killer side of this game
The rules have not changed. Repeated harassment has always been a bannable offense including saying slurs or other homophobic/racist comments. Saying that you targeted someone for wearing a single charm is repeated harassment, like saying you targeted someone for being gay was beforehand. If you haven't been banned chances are you won't be.

I assume that those who typed cringe are too young to have seen the struggles that lgbt people have gone through in the past half a century. It's hard to have respect for something you have no context too in a relatable way. Just think that there are 13 year olds in the United states were born into a world where gay marriage is legal and have no idea how long and hard we fought to make that possible.
To be fair I'm not even 20 and I've had it really lucky in comparison to some of the things other people have gone through, but it's really not hard to empathise and just remain respectful. It's not the fact they were being children, it's the fact they were being twats. Homophobic twats who don't deserve to play the game.
I hope they find it too cringe and they leave DBD for good. Nobody wants them around.
-
I'm pretty sure it will just be if they admit to it.
I've had plenty of people be homophobic to me in endgame chat for playing with my BF and it's a bannable chat offence currently. Homophobes will be idiots, I guess.

@GeneralV said:
Ok, I am sorry but I must ask:
How are they going to tell the difference between someone getting targeted specifically because of the charm or someone getting camped / tunneled because it was the best play at the moment?
People are stupid enough to admit to being homophobic/anti-lgbt+ in endgame chat already thinking they won't admit to tunneling someone specifically because they're wearing the pride charm is largely mistaken.

Would be best to create a fresh new character who's LGBTQ for the best possible lore in my opinion
Why not have it be one of the existing characters? From things the devs have said we know that one of the older characters (ie. Nea and earlier) are lgbt+. I don't see why confirming which one is such a bad thing.
We can have both lgbt+ characters established with new characters and old ones, by the way.
-
@NemesisOnNemesis said:
can we not turn an already established characters into gays "just because" please, thank you.
No because we've never established a character's sexuality. We have heterosexual relationships but no confirmed sexuality and I don't see why it's only an issue when it's the concept of homosexual relationships.
Don't underestimate the power of the gays. We can, and will, turn whatever we want into a gay icon.
-
@WishIcouldmain said:

Well I think genuine loner as he wants to be left alone. Though I see what you mean. If the devs wanted to add an LGBTQ+ character it'd be easier and safer to avoid conflicting lore to create a new one.
Asexual representation I don't see the problem.

Not looking to make a big thing of it since it was dealt with already though

It's off-putting and cheesy. I think the fact that they have now have 2 survivors, 1 monster, and an entire map from Resident Evil is enough of a nod without adding in this awful voiceover.
So for one single update they can't have the announcer of Resident Evil, that reads out all the names of the earlier Resident Evil games, on startup because a few people dislike it despite it being an homage to the classic games which the chapter is representing?
Sure.

Ok. Finally got through reading all of the comments on this thread...
Now here's my two cents on this topic (no-one asked for my opinion, but here we all are anyway)
I don't shout about my Bisexuality from the rooftops; in fact, I don't think anyone really knows about it...
Naturally, in this society I expect to be treated the same as everyone else, but am I just being treated the same because I haven't fully came out as Bisexual yet, or is it possibly true that no-one gives a ######### anymore?
Regardless of my own personal situation, everybody deserves to be treated with respect and shouldn't fear being treated differently because of who they are.
Whether that be because of thier sexuality, gender, colour, race, disability, religion etc...
To me, the pride charm speaks for everyone. Straight, Gay, Trans, Black, White, Asexual, Bisexual... Just everything and everyone.
When I say I want inclusion and acceptance, I mean it. I want everybody to have access to basic human rights, fair policing and political systems, healthcare and education.
Sure, we can't achieve all that today; but every little step we make into accepting people into our communities (even if it is just a small wearable charm in a video game), goes that little bit further into improving things for future generations...
And then, maybe one day; there might just be acceptance for all.
Thanks for coming to my TED Talk. Stay safe out there folks and remember to smile even when you're feeling down :)

@kaeru said:
This thread helped me get my opinion about this situation.
I don't want sound like homophobic but I don't like any idea of pride of being someone.
Personally I don't judge people for who they are. I judge people for what they do.
I don't respect gay people just for them being gay. For me it's just an another person. I respect gay if he talented artist or smart engineer. I would respect gay just for being nice person.
But I don't understand being proud of sexuality. It's not something you achieved. It's just your personality, there is nothing to be proud of.
I don't like an idea of being proud of something you born with. Like your race, your sexuality, your gender.
I understand why there is minorities doing their movements. They just want their voices heard. They being oppressed and they struggle for their rights. But this pride thing make negative impression on me.
I treat all people as equal. Minorities or majorities. But it's only their actions would make me hate or respect them.
Pride comes from centuries of being oppressed and persecuted for being born lgbt+. This still happens today, in 2021. If it's enough to be killed, its enough to be proud of.
Pride is lgbt+ people standing up proudly and displaying who they are. It's us saying- no, demanding- to be seen, to be heard and listened to. It's us demanding our rights and equal treatment and the end to stereotypes and persecution.
Because no matter what you think, it's still rampant today. Even in first world countries like the UK, conversion therapy is still legal and it took 3 years and two different Governments since the PM said she'd make it illegal for it to be announced it's going through consultation and will seek to "continue to protect religious freedom" over lgbt+ lives.
Pride is us having enough and demanding to be heard. Proudly showing who we are and we will not change, nor back down, anymore. Because lgbt+ people have had enough.
You may treat people based on their merits. Many people do not. The law definitely does not.
Apathy breeds indifference. Don't be a bystander.

"Nobody's silencing anyone" then you're not looking very hard.
"And the last time I checked, the other eleven months werent celebrated as straight pride month. If straight pride really is a suppression tool, I'd say its not doing a very good job, wouldn't you?"
So we're just going to ignore the lgbt+ that are spoken over across both social media and irl? We're going to ignore the anti-trans legislation being passed in a lot of countries, the exponentially high number of hate crimes vs lgbt+ people and the suicide rate too? We're going to ignore the majority of trans murder cases in New Zealand going unsolved because of a lack of interest in resolving them or the, again, 79 countries in which it's illegal to be lgbt+? We're going to ignore the hateful language, the slurs, the religion, the fact that conversion therapy isn't illegal in most first world countries, and much more?
Yeah, if you look at it with your eyes shut it must seem like there's no suppression going on.

I don't think they need a movement dedicated to countering gay pride when they have a [BAD WORD] ton of media and 11 months of the year to do so, no.
Be proud of who you are. Don't use it as an excuse to silence lgbt+ people. Which is what the straight pride movement is all about.

I refer you to my response to ZenzuDuck
Allow me to respond to your final comment there.
A straight pride charm? For what, representation?
Felix, David, Nurse, Frank and Julie; all of these characters have heterosexual relationships confirmed in their lore. Yes it's possible they're bisexual or pansexual but the only confirmed relationships are straight ones. In the entire lore of the game.
The lgbt+ charm is moreso bhvr acknowledging that lgbt+ people exist and should be proud of who they are because, excluding one or two statements we have been ignored largely. There hasn't been a single lgbt+ character in 5 years of this game, and if you don't think that's much time then let me point you to Apex Legends.
Furthermore about straight pride, look around you at the world. Look at the media you consume- how much of it includes heterosexual representation? Because it's a hell of a lot, let me tell you.
You ask for a straight pride charm, while we're still asking to not be illegal in 79 countries. You ask for a straight pride charm while trans people are being murdered for being trans. You ask for a straight pride charm, we ask to be normalised.
Straight people, in the nicest possible way, do not and will not ever know the struggles of lgbt+ people.
You do not need a straight pride charm or event to make yourself feel normalised or represented.
Do not speak over the voices of lgbt+ people on their issues if you are not lgbt+. Do not speak against their inclusion in media because "it's political".
We deserve as much representation as anybody else. We deserve to be normalised.
-
@UncleStabby said:
Well, unfortunately, this is what happens when you include real life political statements in a video game.
Just ignore them and move on. If you get tunneled for it, move on. If they abuse chat, report it and move on.
Of course, when I say abuse, i mean it literally. Unnecessary derogatory speech. You cant just report someone for disagreeing with you.
It happens.
Lgbt+ people existing is not politics.
If you think that people dating who they want because they're born that way is political, or being the gender they feel most comfortable with, you're part of the problem.
