Old Pop + Pain Resonance combined for 40% regression per hook was too much.

I wouldn't mind if Pop had a 10% minimum damage floor or something like that though (eg. if 20% of current progress is 10% or less, then you get 10% flat, otherwise you get 20% of total if it's more). That way, Pop always does SOMETHING regardless of which gen you use it on.

No, even 40% regression of the combo was reasonable if the killer took his time to get each down.

10% is still too little. It is the Eruption regression, which isn't great to begin with. And the thing with Pop is that it doesn't give you incapacitated, it has a timer, you often don't have information on which gen has the most progress and you have to walk to the said generator to kick it. Part of what made old Pain Resonance so good to pair up with Pop was that it revealed to you which generator survivors were working on, hitting the team where hurt the most. The new Pain Resonance doesn't give you information, so the combo would still be weaker regardless. If you are really concerned about the 40% regression, we can just make the regression of Pop 20%, giving a total of 35%.

  • To be honest, we might as well make a sweepstake to see which is the next killer perk to be gutted. I would bet my coins that it is Call of Brine, but I feel like Nowhere to Hide and Pain Resonance are good options to choose.

  • I find it a cheap and kind of a distasteful practice, but I do play Genshin Impact so the DbD's way of doing it is not the worst I have seen.

Only way to use DH after getting hit from off the record is to fully mend. The devs broke the synergy a long time ago, and DS is trash now so I'd love to see it as killer. 3 seconds and one time use of absolutely nothing.

I'm talking about the combo of these 3 perks together. It is hard to see but it is hellish when it actually works. Basically, since you're using DS, when you go down after using either your Off the Record or DH, you reset your Deep Wound, meaning you can use the other endurance that you saved, giving you 3 second chances.

And no, DS is not thrash, it is still a really good perk, just not as broken as Off the Record and Dead Hard.

  • I am not shaming them. It is in the game and if this is the easiest way of winning as survivor fair enough for them, but it is just so boring since for killers is basically gen rush, hold w and pallet breaking simulator.

What... else are they supposed to do? That... that's their job.

I'm not saying that they shouldn't do gens, my point is that Prove Thyself + SB players play really safe. They normally just hide and do gens and if you find them, they SB away and if you decide on following them they just throw every pallet.

You can't just leave the game, if you're on a team w people who refuse to open gate and just hide....eventually you have to come out and do it yourself or just wait for who knows how long.

I mean, if both gates are 99% you can just open them yourself and get out.

  • It is not reportable, just as teabagging isn't. To be honest, hitting a survivor on hook should be removed, it only promotes toxicity while also being annoying for killers, since hooked survivors have a massive hitbox which makes it terrible to hit a rescuer.

  • It is a Bitter Murmur but with a catch at the end. When you are a survivor, you can know when the killer has Rancor and all you have to do is leave the game as soon as the last gen is done.

  • I wouldn't say that the 2.5% instant regression is a problem, although it is bad. The problem is the continuous regression that is 1/4 of a solo survivor speed, which is basically nothing. Call of Brine kinda of makes it better but it is still isn't the best thing ever.

  • Because he is the best face camper. Against every other killer, even instadown ones, if you really wanna get a survivor out of the hook, you can at least trade. Against a Bubba, if your whole team goes down the basement to try and get someone out, he will just gg, unless you have very specific stuff.

Bloodhound - This used to be an accessibility option for players with color blindness, but since the color blindness mode was already added this perk becomes just useless.

Predator - This one is thrash and the worst killer perk. It actually is detrimental to you since it makes scratch marks harder to see. One rework would be to make each survivor have a different scratch marks color. This would be useful for killers like Spirit since one of the counterplay to her is mudding your teammate's scratch marks.

Beast of Prey - I have seen some people use it with Discipline Doctor, but overall there is no usage. It's just a thrash perk.

Furtive Chase - I guess you can use it with Make your Choice and Floods of Rage, but the effect in itself isn't good so it is still kinda of useless. If it reduced your Terror Radius to 0 while in chase it would actually be interesting.

Hangman's Trick - When I was doing my Pig adept, I found this perk more useful than Make your Choice for her. It isn't completely useless, but you just have so many better information perks that it becomes just kinda of bad.

Huntress Lullaby - If you REALLY want to use this you could do impossible skill checks Doctor/Blight/Freddy. However, it is still a bad perk for the fact that it is a Hex. It doesn't need to be a hex anymore to be honest.

Insidious - Basement Bubba. That's it.

Unrelenting - Hag with this perk isn't that bad, since she will be often swinging on nothing after teleporting.

Bonus - Territorial Imperative is just as bad if not worse than the perks you mentioned. It should be useful for camping, but it has an anti camping mechanic, so it is completely useless.

Bonus 2 - Overwhelming Presence is simply outclassed by Franklin's, so it is also useless.

Bonus 3 - Septic Touch is garbage. It is basically Mind breaker but for healing and with more limitations. I don't know why this perk exists as well.

Bonus 4 - Ruin became a detrimental perk since it's nerf. The only usage it has is with Surveillance.

Bonus 5 - Nemesis. The only purpose to this perk is to be combined with Play with your Food, which is a weak perk regardless.

  • Anything with Off the Record. The perk is broken. I have seen some people use OTR + DH + DS and it is just miserable to play against.

Other than that Sprint Burst + Prove Thyself players also piss me off since all they do is gens.

  • Konami is in good terms with BHVR and even allowed them to make a Silent Hill game themselves. I expected a second Silent Hill chapter once this game comes out featuring the game's characters.

  • In all fairness, it may just be that he leaves DbD open while doing other stuff like wash the dishes and walk the dog. Some people with good PCs just don't bother to close stuff.

I don't think the whispers are Stamper's since he wasn't killed when The Dredge slaughtered The Fold, and hence wasn't incorporated into The Dredge's amalgamation of flesh.

Well, he was killer by Doctor later on so Dredge might as well have come back to claim him.

  • 1. Compound 23 - I am not a good Blight myself and Compound 23 makes Blight much easier since on complicated loops you can just delete the god pallet and continue the chase. It is just so satisfying.

    2. Flask of Bleach - This is how Clown should have always been. His slowdown without this add-on is awful and it actually makes his bottles satisfying to play.

    3. Iridescent Stone - Trapper without this add-on is just painful. He already takes so much time to set up on the early game only for a survivor to follow him and disarm all his traps. This add-on guarantees that he won't have to waste crucial time resetting his traps.

That is another solution but you can never really buff certain Killers to be a 1 to 1 in strength, I feel like people often for forget that. Also I just wanted to point out how dumb the "blacklist" idea is and how there could be a better system that doesnt shaft certain Killers.

There is a difference between "oh this killer is stronger than that, but that killer is also viable and I can have a great time playing it" and "this killer is viable and that one isn't, so if I choose that one I will have a miserable time against decent survivors". I don't want Myers to be 1=1 Nurse, but I want it to be able to at least win against high mid tier SWFs.

  • Killers hate him because he is worthless garbage. Survivors hate him because his antiloop is spammy and offers little 1v1 counterplay on certain loops while also being good at camping. He is just a terribly designed killer, this includes his visual and lore as well.

  • How about, you know, making killers other than Nurse, Blight and Artist viable so they can be used more often at high MMR?

Even if none of the loadouts share perks, since there are four survivors each loadout could contain a different perk that a survivor banned. Unless all four survivors have to agree on the same perk, which would either have to be done in-lobby as a poll (and no one ever agrees on anything in this game) or if the players choose it before queueing up then it would make matchmaking a horrible nightmare as there a very, very large number of perks in the game for it to have to find four survivors who all chose the same perk to ban.

Personally, I only have one perk loadout I use as both killer and survivor. For killer three of those perks are non-negotiable, I just wouldn't play at all if I couldn't use one of them. I assume there are other players who are like that, too.

Here is the thing, the way that I envisioned is to each survivor choose one perk to ban and the killer to choose 4. This would happen while in the lobby with 30+ seconds to choose a perk to ban, then you would have 60 seconds to adjust your loadout. It is this way in League of Legends, so I don't know why DbD couldn't do something similar. Just add a penalty to lobby dodge to avoid people from doing so and it should be good.

Believe, I'm the kinda of guy who doesn't live without my build of Eruption, Pain Resonance, Call of Brine and Franklin's Demise, but I would give up on them if this would mean not seeing Dead Hard, Off the Record, Circle of Healing and Prove Thyself ever again.

dead hard, CoH, noed, and eruption will never be heard from again lol

In all fairness, I think that it would make the game healthier if you could ban the most OP perks. It is a way to balance the game without the devs having to release patch after patch.

  • @TragicSolitude said:

That would either break the system due to people who queue up and walk away, not paying attention to lobbies (how long before someone who doesn't fix their perks gets kicked? how many players will a lobby have to go through to get someone who won't get kicked or outright leave, meaning the other players are just sitting there in the lobby waiting? what happens when the fifth player shows up and they have acceptable perks equipped but the other players break the new player's bans?), or it'd break matchmaking because it would have to filter out players using those perks and every individual would have their own set of rules which could conflict with other players who match the first player's criteria and... oof, as nice as it'd be to just say no to four exhaustion perks when I want to play tier-1-no-add-ons Myers, I don't want to sit in a queue for two hours for a meme. Quicker to just let four Sprint Bursters do gens and leave, even if it happens three matches in a row.

That's why BHVR created more than one load out for each character. I don't use it because I don't see a usage for know, but if survivors could ban my perks I would have already prepared other loadouts so I don't have to re-do my build all over again in case 4 of my perks get banned.

  • No. However, if both sides could ban 4 perks it would make the game healthier imo.

  • Suffocation Pit is disgusting. Garden of Joy is also bad but it isn't just boring to play in. Suffocation Pit is miserable in every single way.

  • While I do think that pre nerf Thana may have been overturned (mainly because users often stacked with Pentimento and Dying Light), the nerf went a way too overboard.

  • Basement Bubba is like afk Pig. You're going to get 1 or 2 kills, but no more than that unless the survivors are stupid. Bubba is a camper who has to commit to camping, so if he decides to do that, the survivors will just rush gens and leave.

Hag is much more of an efficient camper, since she can do that while also pressuring the map.

  • As much as I would like Suffocation Pit to be deleted from the game, Garden of Joy just feels miserable to play in, even though it is a new map.

However, Blackwater Swamp does need a graphical update since that places really does look old.

  • The overheat mechanic is just unnecessary. Regardless, he is still a B tier killer with his map mobility and instadowns.

  • 4 toolboxes are enough to make me go back to the queue. Gen speed is already quick enough in spite of all gen regression perks, toolboxes are just overkill.

  • I feel like just a few things need to be nerfed/reworked. My top 5 are:

    1. SWF

    2. Gen speed

    3. Off the Record

    4. Dead Hard

    5. Tombstone Piece

If these 5 things were changed it would make DbD much better.

  • Eruption is more consistent since you're not depending on scourge hook spawns. The thing is, SWFs make Eruption much weaker, so in that scenario I do prefer Pain Resonance.

Regardless, I enjoy both perks and use them on the same build all the time.

  • Both perks suck for different reasons.

Surveillance has TERRIBLE synergy with Call of Brine and Eruption, since the devs decided to make gens automatically yellow when you use these two perks, making Surveillance useless. Here is the thing, the mechanic of kicking a gen is only worth it if you use Eruption and Call of Brine, therefore you will probably prefer other gen tracking perk like Discordance, Thrilling Tremors and Nowhere to Hide.

As for Overcharge... It would be a good perk if they kept the PTB version with 400% regression on Mac. For the current version, it doesn't make sense using it because Call of Brine exists and gives the instant 200% regression instead of the gradual growth to 200%. The only reason why you would use Overcharge is to stack it with Call of Brine to get 300%, which isn't that great to be honest.

In all fairness, Overcharge seems to be the perk with some actual usage because of it's synergy with Call of Brine, but it isn't even great to justify it's use.

  • Trickster is the second worst killer in the game, only losing to Myers and yet I get it why people hate to play against him. His design is just terrible while also being outclassed by everyone?

Want to play a ranged killer? Play Deathslinger.

Want to face camp? Play Bubba.

Want to annoy survivors? Play Hag.

Want to be a sexy killer? Play Pyramidhead.

Want to play a killer that sings? Play Plague.

  • Although better numbers would be absolutely nice to have, I doubt that people would use it. It is hard to justify a perk like Fire Up when gens can go as fast as lightning, so it becomes a natural choice to stack gen regression instead of going for other stuff.

  • Nothing makes me sadder than loading a game and the Suffocation Pit map appearing. It is probably the only map which makes me want to quit.

  • For killer: Corrupt Intervention. The devs already said that the early game is rough for killers, and if you don't manage to get the ball rolling quickly you can quickly lose the game. Corrupt Intervention mitigates that problem.

For survivor: Kindred. SWFs already have this perk basekit because of coms, so I don't see why solos can't have it either.

  • People were complaining about Shattered Square having this problem. I didn't get it until I played the map. It is especially bad on that map because there are a lot of small objects to get stuck on, and you down see it until you look down.

  • The killer has a lot of stuff to his kit and does a lot of things right. First, incredible map mobility, which results in a really good map pressure. Seconds, he has a good antiloop, just being a little weaker than Artist. Third, on Nightfall his map pressure goes immensely and his chase power as well. Fourth, still on Nightfall he gets the tracking ability which is just really useful when you want to find a specific survivor to get rid of them.

  • 1. Nurse

    2. Blight

    3. Artist

    4. Dredge

    5. Executioner

  • @Peanits said:

I can confirm that, like before, DCs will not count as kills towards Merciless Killer ratings.

Question, if all survivors DC just before each of them get killed, does that mean that the killer will depip?

I'm asking this because one of the main reasons survivors DC is to screw killers' rating system. If I'm correct, then DCing now is kinda of incentivesed to these toxic groups.

  • Dead Man's Switch and Pain Resonance was a good combo before the nerf, now it is kinda of questionable use, specially on Pyramidhead. If you want to get use out of this combo, use it on a killer like Artist or Blight who can get survivors out of gens quickly.

As for a new build, I normally use Eruption, Call of Brine and Pain Resonance on every killer (except Twins). The forth perk I usually run Franklin's, but I guess that if you don't like it you can use something else like Surge, Plaything and I'm All Ears (which is very good on PH). There is so much a good build can help you though, if survivors are really eager to gen rush you, it won't really save you.

because regression perks are also part of the problem, mainly Eruption.

i feel most are weak and only benefit from stacking, but regression perks shouldn’t be stackable with Eruption when it has a 25s incapacitated timer.

they really can’t do much more to matchmaking except maybe adding a competitive mode where MMR comes in play and remove MMR from pubs so it’s balanced, but it still wouldn’t be the saving grace for the current meta.

current meta hurts inexperienced players, and it also prolongs the game to a stalemate until people had enough. as i said, changing matchmaking wouldn’t solve the underlying issue with the current meta, killers would just see more SWFs/competent-like survivors and just complain because "me kick gen, me camp 3 gen, me make game last 2 hours long" won’t work for them.

The incapacitated timer can be countered if you have an idea of when the survivor is gonna go down. Aura perks like Fogwise, Bonds, Inner Focus and many others can give you an idea of when the next survivor is going down. If you think that using a perk to help counter another perk is bad, be aware that it is perfectly normal to use stuff to counter the meta, just like Stridor was only used to counter Iron Will (when Spirit was good) and how the Original Pain add-on is the only reliable counter in the game to Off the Record, which by itself justifies its use. Also, Eruption only benefits the killer if they are getting a down, so the reward is perfectly healthy since it encourages going for chases (something that a killer who is only focused on keeping a 3 gen won't do).

About the "hurting inexperienced players argument" the only thing that I have to say is that, well... Yeah, you're gong to have a hard time against strong loadouts when you're new, that's is true for literally everything that is half decent, but eventually you're going to learn how to play around it, that's how multiplayer games work.

  • @HugTechLover said:

Well that’s the beauty of solo q and RNG with your teammates skills isn’t it.

But that's the thing, if the problem is your teammates... Why attack the regression perks when the problem is the matchmaking?

DbD survivor is a team based game and you're not going to carry everyone solo, that's just how it works. I do play other team based games like League of Legends, Pokemon Unite and Overwatch but I do know how to differentiate when I lost because of my teammates, because of game balance or because of my lack of skill and each of these problems have completely different solutions which should not mix together.

Lmao ok buddy. With multiple thousand hours in the game, I don’t think it’s a skill issue.

When the gens are within spitting distance and they will do nothing but run back and forth kicking gens, you will not be able to break the 3 gen. Especially on a killer like demo that places portals on top of the gens.

Those 4 stacked perks most definitely are not slower regression than anything we could put out.

You saying this just shows you’re most likely the kind of killer that cannot survive matches without 4 regression perks. Feel bad for you son.

If he is simply going from gen to gen means that he isn't downing anyone, because if we are talking about survivors with game awareness they should stay healthy before trying to brute force through a 3 gen, that's because if the killer hits them then they can go running to the other side of the map to heal again. If the demo followed someone then good survivors would finish the last gen.

Therefore, since in this situation he shouldn't be downing anyone, then he is only making use only of Call of Brine since other gen regression perks only reward the killer when someone goes down. But again, if the Demo is downing someone and progressing his objective then it is because he is commiting to the chase, which should give plenty of time to break the 3 gen and if he is not then eventually good survivors will also do the last gen since regression is slower and he is only making use of Call of Brine.

And well, you may have thousands of hours in the game, but determination isn't the same as getting results lmao

I just played against a demo who brought haddonfield, along with CoB, erupt, pain res, and overcharge. He did nothing but patrol the three gen. Game eventually ended because we got bored. It was entirely impossible to complete one of the 3.

He was absolutely terrible in chase, but he was hard carried by his perks. This should not be a thing.

This gen kick meta most certainly needs a nerf, and anybody who thinks otherwise is probably one of the killers who cannot win without them. I am not one of them, and I would love to see this combo destroyed so when I DO play survivor, it’s not the stale ass “3 gen or nothing” play style every single game.

I'm sorry, but losing because of a 3 gen is no excuse. Even with Call of Brine, regression is only half of the speed a solo repairing, meaning that for every 2 seconds of regression you would only need one to undo the damage. On a 3 gen scenario, all you have to do is brute force it and when you get hit you go to the other side of the map to heal, which can get really efficient with CoH. If the killer follows you, your teammates finish the gen, if he comes back to the 3 gen just rinse and repeat until the 3 gen is broken. Regression is always slower than progression, so your case is merely a skill issue.

  • It's not the worst thing imo. A lot of other maps as just as bad if not worse. Also, I kinda like the coloring, it gives some personality to the map.

  • I wouldn't say that the most unfair add-on in the game is an iridescent, since I think that it is the Tombstone Piece.

I don't think it is overpowered or anything since once you know Myers has it you can play around it, but for the first survivor who gets killed and has no way of knowing it is pretty unfair.

  • CoB and Eruption aren't even in need of nerf. Nerfing it would be just going with the casual players wishes once more. This game without gen regression simply isn't functional and even if CoB and Eruption get nerfed people will probably just stack other forms of gen defense.

1 … 6 7 8 9 10 … 23
