  • Uh, you mean the only balanced killer in the game? Strongly disagree. Survivors can make a lot of mistakes and still win against any other killer. Not Nurse. Against her, you can win if you play smart. If you don't, you'll be obliterated. Fair is fair.

  • Imagine the uproar if suddenly Claudette's face were X-ed out, with the note "this character has successfully escaped from the Entity's realm, therefore he/she is not playable anymore".

    ;)

Similarly, a killer could be disabled: "The Nightmare has given the Hatch to survivors one too many times. FIRED!"

  • I just discovered two great games, I'm sure some of you know them: Plague Inc. Evolved, and the other is Baba Is You. The latter is particularly brilliant, if you're into inventive puzzle games.

  • @Hexyl the game is about killing survivors/surviving. Getting tunneled is not "making sure someone can't play the game", it's the actual game itself. Have you ever seen an MMA match with the losing participant complaining afterwards "this guy makes the match unfun for me, he wouldn't let me play"? Unlikely. I know it's not the same, but competitiveness is still the most important source of fun. Also, frustration without a doubt. But the problem is not that some people play rough but rather that some people are not stable enough to accept the goals of a game. And devs keep enabling them.

  • Yup, a bunch of disconnecting crybabies, so I'm not going to give names. But it was kinda disappointing to be honest.

  • Generally, like others said, solo<killer<SWF. But a lot depends on what killer you play/are up against, is there a mori or a key, map, items, addons... There is a number of challenge perks and addons (Speed Limiter, No Mither, The Beast, etc), also, you can play perkless or perk roulette... And not all SWF use Discord either, so it's not a given that they always have a huge advantage.

But on a general average, yea, SWF have it the easiest, and solo survivors the hardest.

  • "The perk basic force u to tunnel or mori and no one likes that"

Wrong. I despise mories, but tunneling in general is very beneficial. Even without DL, it's a 25% repair penalty to survivors as a group, if you tunnel one out of the game fast. DL penalty is gravy.

Why are so many players against tunneling is beyond me. It's solid, it puts pressure on survivors, it helps culling the weak, basically it is for the benefit of everyone.

  • @su11yboy I agree you see NOED used by inexperienced or not very skilled killers a lot more than by skilled ones. I also agree that it does feel cheap.

That said, I still find the argument completely false. It can be easily turned around and we can reasonably say it punishes bad survivors. Just like Blood Warden, it seems very strong only if survivors don't expect it (or they are too lazy to do something about it). If a survivor ALWAYS assumes that the killer has it, it can be rendered powerless: just don't rush to the gates once they are powered, instead, play immersed and look for the totem, and wait for someone else to get hit.

I'm not trying to lecture you, I'm guessing you know how to counter it, but then you can also see why your suggested nerf (yeah it's a nerf) would make it trash tier.

If it was not a Hex perk to begin with, then we could talk. But since it can be literally removed from the game in 16 seconds, there's no point neutering it even further.

You really can't say it's a "guaranteed massacre". It is a guaranteed massacre only if survivors play cocky after last gen is done, AND if when one of them is hooked, the others foolishly swarm the hook. In short, only if they play stupid. Again: NOED is decent at punishing bad survivors.

  • Agreed. Any other killer is only good for memes or farming. If you want to keep it real, you gotta play Nurse. More fun to play against as well, unless you're a wimp.

  • @anarchy753 and @LCGaster I wasn't joking, I'm just evil. And petty. I had to suffer through the purchase of zillions of useless items just to finally get that tier 3 Hangman's Trick for all my killers.

Now I want others to suffer too.

Duh. For real though, I'd go for a significant BP gift to newer players. For survivors it's not so pressing, you can pick your playstyle, get the necessary teachables and then just stick to your favourite character (although even that is quitea grind). But for killers, it's insane, if you want to play different ones. New players are seriously handicapped here.

  • If matchmaking did not allow you to be matched against people with higher/lower ranks, that 10 minutes waiting time would be 20<.

Going against higher rank players is good. That's how we learn.

  • My fifteen maxed out P3 killers and my four P3 maxed out survivors disagree.

    I want to be special.

  • Just one thing to add: PGTW FEELS good when you use it on a generator that has a decent progress already. The regression is clearly visible and audible. Very satisfying.

  • People keep repeating this "XYZ doesn't have counterplay". Legion, Nurse, Spirit...

They all have counterplay. Not everyone can pull it off, but the fact that YOU can't do something doesn't mean it's impossible.

As for playing against Spirit being a coin flip... to some extent, sure. About half of any Dbd match is luck based. I can't see the problem here.

  • "Rewards bad players." Meaningless statement. NOES gives the exact same benefit to a good killer as to a bad killer, once conditions are met. You're shooting at a mediocre, easily counterable, not very strong perk. And you're doing it by parroting the same stupid thing that has been said thousands of times. NOED "rewards bad killers" looks like an argument, but in reality, it's just a cheap rhetoric that makes people who say it feel smart, but in fact, it's 100% false.

Sorry man, I mean no offense, but literally ALL "nerf NOED" themed discussions are just poorly concealed expressions of frustration, by players who got sacrificed because of it.

  • Suiciders should be treated with bans, or at least some flags visible to others in lobby. It's the same thing as DC-ing, but devs are even less willing to punish it.

They could try to be nice and "reward good sportmanship", but really, those who only keep struggling on hook for a BP reward and not because they actually care about their team deserve nothing more than a kick in the butt.

  • Just rank up. 90% of people in red ranks have no problem blazing through Ruin.

Using Mathieu Cote would be hard mode: Every killer would go after you first and hit you on the hook repeatedly as they face camp you screaming "This is for legion!" "This is for Pig!"

@RoKrueger not every killer though. I'd always give him the hatch for that infamous but spot on "Play Civ" sentence.

  • I'm enjoying survivor more than ever. Game is still survivor sided, but it can be challenging sometimes. The problem with your kind is that you cannot take dying easy, even though it's essential to the game. It's not a big deal, just have a good game then get sacrificed.

  • @moonlunn said:

Uhm I can name noed which is basically the same thing but on the killers side lol so why are you complaining about keys? Lol

@moonlunn NOED has multiple counters, keys don't.

@Pierpalle don't be so dramatic though. "Respect for player", come on. No one around here deserved any. And it's a fair point that moris are simular to keys. Either both should be removed, or we should just accept that sometimes our opponent brings stronger items, so we'll have a more difficult time. I don't see the problem with that.

  • Sometimes I wonder: can someone get banned for sending an excessive number of false reports? I wish it was the case, though it's probably hard to track.

  • Stop now while you can. Seriously. That's 41,6 days of non stop playing. Imagine that. 1000 hours... you could have learned fluent Italian by that time. Or read all works of Dostoevsky. Or, I don't know, learned electric engineereing, massage therapy, could have gotten a girlfriend (or a second if you already have one).

    STOP NOW

Trust me. I got over 3000. Just uninstalled, but I'll never get that time back.

Meanwhile I always get the same SWF groups because the game is pretty much dead in Oce. :D

(In green ranks; when I was in EU it was much more varied and so I got to improve myself every game, but now not so much)

@SunderMun move to Hungary :) I got a few minutes waiting times tops as killer, and even less as survivor. Great variety of players too, the only pain is that some of them are Russian.

  • Nurse. She can take your pain away.

  • A large portion of the community cries and cries and cries, survivors and killers all the same. Well, not the same, but a similar amount.

We're all crybabies, at least those of us on the forum :)

  • Sorry, you must work harder to get that ban.

  • Facing higher rank opponents is good for you. Yea you lose. But you learn more too.

  • Wait, I thought Legion was removed from the game?!

Oh wait, you mean the thing that they call Legion these days... well, yea, it could use a smaller TR in a chase. Like AetherBytes said, KI radius is different from actual TR.

  • @indieeden7 and @thrawn3054 this is my actual opinion about the original post, the one millionth needless topic about camping.

Just stop thinking devs should forcefully limit killers' freedom to move.

Don't dulls give you some emblem credit now with the latest update?

@darktrix yep, they do now. But I don't think it's going to change things much. It's smarter to do gens, simple as that.

  • No, this guy is right. A single survivor should be as strong as the killer. At the same time, survivors should be able to kill each other and get BP for it.

  • Like @thesuicidefox said, there's no point. It's incredibly easy to find totems, and cleansing dulls is almost completely pointless. Better get that NOED once it's lit.

  • Nurse. Playing any other killer is pointless, except after rank reset.

  • Reveal by hooked survivor makes sense, it prevents camping. By downed survivor, not so much.

  • Know what's funny? Many of these reports about someone "taking the game hostage" or "teaming with the killer" would not even exist if they weren't listed in endgame report screen. You know, some of the... less intelligent players with poor communication skills can't really figure out how to phrase their conviction that their loss is somehow "unfair". But once they see these fancy terms, they feel they have the ammunition to be convincing.

  • You're funny :)

  • If you play survivor, there's some chance that at some point you'll die. If it's too much to take, maybe dbd is not for you. Understand, the killer is playing AGAINST you, not WITH you. Quite a simple concept, I'm not sure why so many players cannot come to terms with it.

  • Doing gens is my favourite part of the game. Wish there was a single player version with no killer, only generators :(

  • Big fan of Rachmaninoff Piano concertos, all o' them.

    Also, there's this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vSfocNxI0

Just amazing. Will check out this Shostakovich you mention, but it looks like he had two. Which one did you mean @Masantonio ?

  • @ShyN3ko oh man, that's brilliant.

    Yeah that's probably it.

  • "tryharding"

A very judgmental word. "Playing to win" is a more accurate term. And winning means killing as many survivors as possible.

You'd prefer that we farm? Thing is, I don't need BP. I need the pleasure of killing survivors. Any other consideration is secondary. Not that memeing a bit once in a while is not fun, but generally, farming, giving hatch, playing "friendly" etc is just horribly boring.

Angrypug called me a trash face camping piece of ######### on stream after I killed him and 3 others 2 times in a row. I wasn't even camping. Before I did another match, my friend messaged me with a videoclip of him saying that I was " trash" and a " dirty ######### face camper" so I caught him first and really did start to face camp him. He dc'ed instantly.

@MrChills ah that's beautiful!!! I love it when streamers get destroyed, especially if they lose their ######### after game :)

Seriously, if you're playing for an audience, all the more reason to act civilized. Some people fail at this though :P

A little revival to this Thread. Had a comment on my Steam Profile. Game vs Spirit, she got one on the Hook at the End because of NOED. The moment NOED got cleansed, she DCed.

Had this comment on my profile 3 times:

"-rep rêtarded nîgger gen rushing with SWF and Dstrike worst nîgger survivor ever seen hardstuck rank 15 btw fat loser nîggerface"

I mean, I was playing Tapp, but well... 3 times, because he needed to find a way to write "#########" without Steam censoring it. I was Solo and did not have DS, but ok...

@aven_fallen nice. Looks like ê and î works here too to avoid [BAD WORD]. Good to know :)

I wonder why Steam censors "#########".

  • You can actually farm a lot with survivor. Usually you get more BP per game if you play killer. But if you play survivor and use Prove Thyself and We're Gonna Live Forever, you can max out Objective points very fast, and then some. Once Objective BP is maxed, just play boldly, get chased, and don't worry if you get killed. This just means your games are shorter, so overall your BP gain over time is faster.

Borrowed time is also useful for getting those WGLF stacks. Just don't forget, a stupid save is still a stupid save, even with BT... try not to farm your teammates too much.

EDIT: yea sorry just noticed you don't have WGLF yet. Get that first. It's a blessing.

  • I happen to buy the argument that it's about camping. Stealthy killers have a great opportunity to camp, but it's a scummy tactic (yea I like it, but it is). Since GF's power has been otherwise buffed, I'm fine with hook camping option stolen.

  • Quick switching is MUCH rarer lately, at least as far as I experience in the past months. It's really not that big of an issue.

And disabling killer's ability to see items would be a significant imbalance issue. Why? Look:

    Survivors can

    • discuss strategy, perks with their mates in lobby (many survivors don't do that, but it's their fault. The option is there.)
    • During game they usually have a much easier time to figure out and remember killer's perks and addons. (Killer has to detect and remember 4x4.)
    • Obviously, as soon as they spot the killer, they know what power they're facing.

On the other hand, even though the killer can see items, there's no way to tell if it's a green/purple item with strong addons, or just a humble brown medkit with Rubber Gloves or something like that. Since well organised survivors already have the upper hand, it would take away what little chance the killer even had to counter some of the OP items (most notably purple and pink keys, those can be obscenely strong).

Remember, the whole game was designed keeping in mind that killer can see your items. There's simply no reason to change that now.

  • Ok. The two most cringy things in video games ever are these:

    • doors closing automatically (no, not talking about high tech doors with sensors, but normal wooden doors with a knob); and
    • wooden crates you have to smash, with goodies inside. Especially funny when they happen to be on a spaceship or a secret lab.

Just no. I mean, yeah, a gun itself is even worse for gameplay, so that's a no too. But smashable wooden crates? That's the ultimate atmosphere killer.
