Me, as PH, on Rotten Fields.
One survivor got unhooked close to me because of a bumrush unhook. The unhooked runs into me, whilst also being followed by the rescuer (presumably in an attempt to bodyblock, but miserable failing to do so).
I throw out an M2, hitting not 1, not 2, but three survivors, downing the last one i didn't even know was there.
As I'm going to hook the third one, the fourth one shows up in my face, and tries to bodyblock for a wiggle drop. They too go down.
Then, just as I sent off the fourth in a cage, the unhooked survivor screams. They went down... because of Deep Wound.
I find the unhooker in a locker thanks to a belated BBQ dodge, and round it off from there. The game lasted ~2 minutes.
-
I didn't have to tunnel at all.
Hell, I even got some hits off just because survivors expected me to tunnel, and ran straight into me.
-
What kind of ratings?
MMR? We can’t even see our own, seeing each others ratings would be very weird.
-
It's a bit hard to tell what exactly has happened if we don't know the exact status of your characters before you dropped the game.
My guess would be that it's something to do with the prestige overhaul quite a while ago, but that wouldn't explain the loss of their entire add-on inventory.

So many codes lately!

Ooooh, I like the dragon! I might actually use this one (currently there is nothing there, I had Dwelf but now that it's not Christmas, I took him down).

It very much appears to be like a Creepypasta, and I really like this creepy format! The second hint is out now with 4 soundbites, withthe third one (I think) seems to be a creature learning to speak!
This also reminds me a bit of "Anglerfish" from The Magnus Archives, which also carries an uncanny valley vibe.
Basically, I'm excited for this original chapter and how it's going to be pulled off.
Do you have a source for that? I can't seem to find it on facebook, twitter or insta

Bird event??
bird event???????
-
The spikes popping up is just a reminder that it's there, I think.
You can still kick the gen once regression has stopped as normal.
-
I'm kinda digging the creepypasta vibe this gives off, actually. Another 'monster' killer too, it would seem.

Well. Survivors tend to focus X specific generators (X= amount of survivors not in a chase) instead of spreading the progrrss among all 7 generators.
Survivors btw *choose* to bring a toolbox to do gens faster.
Survivors also seem to prefer to stay on the same gens which already have progress instead of going for a new one. You know, the "vulnerable" ones which can be finished faster than new ones.
Not to forget not going for saves/unhooks instantly but staying on gens right before stage 2.
Tunneling and genrush both are just doing the objective. Except people shame killers for doing it and forget theyre doing it as survivors.
People can’t bring toolboxes in this game mode, tho.
Also, gens don’t play the game. that’s a false equivalence.

Borgo’s been really rare for me.

Pretty much every time the survivor has had something to work with. They just make so much distance, that you cannot catch up before you lose them.
Sure you can try and track their blood but then it suddenly stops and you're left wondering where the hell they went. So you look around and during that time the blood disappears and they're gone.
Playing hit and run hasn't worked for me either because they still managed to heal 30 seconds later. And when survivors manage to avoid you pretty effectively, then you're happy to get another chase in these 30 seconds. Maybe I just had bad luck as a killer but most survivors seemed to have a pretty good idea when I was approaching them.
Maybe I got lucky, ‘cause I have been able to track injured survivors pretty consistently. Healthy ones are obviously much harder, but I’d just give up on that.
They also definitely weren’t healing that quickly for me.

Mics are not necessary for genrush. As long as genrush exists, tunneling will be necessary for killers that like to win.
Pray tell, how can survivors genrush with nothing but their base kit?
They’re just doing their objective. They can’t choose to make that objective go faster, as much as killers can choose to go after the vulnerable surv over and over.

It's not much better for killers either. All you need to escape a chase is one good window. You make so much distance that they have no chance to keep track of you.
This mode is terrible for both sides. It's not scary but boring. Most of the time nothing happens and neither side has any feeling of progression.
Chases are incredibly mind numbing because the survivor either goes down without a struggle or they escape after dropping a pallet / vaulting a window.
I have to ask, how many times is this happening to you? This game mode is surprise hit galore, so you can either track with blood, or you abandon ‘chase’ and try again later.
I haven’t had much trouble at all.
-
Had a lot of success with Xeno, Pinhead and Bubba.
Pinhead’s camera during casting is bugged once again, tho.
-
Not anytime soon, I reckon. He hasn’t been even been out for a year yet.
-
How are they expected to achieve anything, then?
-
If the killer doesn't want to play 'optimally,' then it's an absolute blast.
-
i mean farming is gonna give you more points
but i don't see why you'd use the modifier for that.
-
Yeah I don't think the bright survivors was the issue here.
It's probably got to do with Freddy's dream world using filters and shaders of its own, which clash with the ones Lights Out uses. Wouldn't be too surprised if Freddy straight up crashed the game, or made literally everything a strobe hazard.

It's not even the team so much as the opponent for me.
it's been both for me.
both for the usual reasons, exarcebated because there's no perks to hold it back/hold their hand.
-
I think the event favours killer somewhat, and very much favours specific killers that can benefit from not being seen from afar.
Bubba and Billy in particular have a really easy time, since they can get in lethal range before they're noticed.
-
what
auras arent actually hidden by the modifier
there’s just very little to reveal them

Sure, but that's a different argument.
It being uncounterable is a nothing complaint because that's the norm. It having too broad of an activation window is a completely different complaint and one that definitely has a lot more legs, there's an actual discussion there.
Oh, i misinterpreted your point then. My bad.

That is not true, the hardest info perks to counter are the myriad of ones it is completely impossible to counter.
There is no counter to Lethal Pursuer, Floods of Rage, Bitter Murmur, I'm All Ears, Nemesis (assuming the killer has it in an Obsession-swapping build), or Territorial Imperative (lol) short of using an aura-block perk. Even if you know these are in play, there's no avoiding their activation, not really. Assuming you have to perform some of those actions (someone has to unhook for Floods, for example, and if someone's hooked in the basement someone has to go down there, etc), you will be revealed, and you cannot stop it.
There's also no meaningful counter to Eruption, since it's very hard to know when someone's about to go down - that's why it was changed to an aura read to begin with. The same is also true of THWACK, since you can't tell when the killer's about to break a pallet with enough time to actually leave the radius. You could make the argument this is true of Infectious Fright too, but it's a little easier to just book it away from a chase and have that not be throwing, so we'll give that one a pass for now.
Then there's the ones that are technically counterable if you know about them, but give no indication to you that they're in play. This includes Gearhead, and kinda-sorta Nowhere To Hide. The killer could make it obvious with NTH, but if they don't, you don't know it's in play. With Gearhead, you're just not gonna know.
I think a lot of people get too hung up on perks like BBQ, which do have clear activation on the survivor side and kiiiinda give the right tell they're in play. That perk can be countered, most aura/info perks cannot.
This is normal. Most info perks just work and you as a survivor counter them by making yourself hard to catch, not by denying the information to begin with. That's been perfectly reasonable for a long time now, Ultimate Weapon being "impossible to counter" puts it with the other info perks, not above them. There may be arguments to make about any other element of the perk, but that one isn't a problem. It's normal.
You mention the aura perks having no counter/tell. While true, you also have to acknowledge that their window of activation is either very limited, or out of the killer’s control.
LP: Only active at the start of the match.
FoR: Requires a Scourge Hook, and is activated upon unhook, which you don’t control.
Bitter Murmur: Can only proc 5 times in a match. Also out of the killer’s control when exactly it triggers.
I’m All Ears: Is only going to proc in chase. Not sure why this one’s even brought up, this has a different purpose.
Nemesis: Same as ^. Even more limited, at that.
Eruption: Only triggers on downs.
Infectious: Same as ^.
Nowhere to Hide: Only procs around gens. As I said before, only does anything if the survivors weren’t already running.
Gearhead: Only works on survivors working on gens. Ie., limited to very specific areas.
UW is on demand, and has massive, moving range at that. It cannot be mistimed, because you control when its activation period begins. The only limit it has is that it has a cooldown.
It makes evasion straight impossible if you don’t want to run CS, because all the killer has to do is open a locker, and move. You cannot tell when you’re going to scream if you don’t have constant LoS on the killer, because it happens the instant you enter the TR’s range. It’s also not like you can outrun the TR.
That kind of strength has to have some kind of limit. Either through some different kind of activation method, a significantly higher cooldown, less range, or by having a tell of some kind.
-
5 years, 2 months.
-
Would have to see a source for this.
-
How dare they utilise their power to protect something that’s taken down easily otherwise
-
Very interesting to see that people seem to conflate a counterpick with counterplay. People suggest Calm Spirit as counterplay, when it really is a counterpick. Not to mention that Counterpicking is just not a thing in DbD.
As for my two cents, the sheer strength from UW lies in the fact that it's on demand, that it moves with the killer (for 30 seconds!), AND has TR range at that. No other info perk is like that.
BBQ: Proc'd at specific, predictable moments, and has a ginormous blind spot. Additionally, it only lasts for 4 seconds, making it susceptible to lockers.
Nowhere to Hide: Only works within 24 meters, and only lasts 5 seconds. Only really does anything against survivors that weren't already running when you approached the gen. Additionally, now with the 8 kicks restriction, you can't just spam it out. Also susceptible to lockers.
Infectious: Only works on downs, thus cannot possible be considered "free" like UW can. The fact that it can only proc at the very instant you're going into a stagger cannot be ignored either.
The fact that it's a scream instead of an aura doesn't really change much about the strength of the perk. All you realistically need is a ping anyway. Hell, because it's a scream, you'd need to actively ignore it to not get any info from it. In that way, it's Whispers on steroids.
-
I'm really curious about that Prop Hunt-like thing they suggested in that survey a while ago.
Or more specifically, if I'd be any good at it.
-
Fair, maybe. But there's really no way to not make it look really bizarre.
-
If someone amused me, or if they suffered an indignant curbstomb, I tend to go soft.
Heavily depends on my mood, though.

Maybe they could take a look at some of his add-ons, but Slinger's in a pretty good spot right now.
Your mileage is highly dependent on your skill with him, and on what platform you play on.
-
I mean, "forgot" implies they knew to begin with.
Twins are the rarest killer to face out there. Statistically speaking, there's a not-insignificant percent of the playerbase that have simply never faced them.

We got Chucky and Alan wake. I thought after alan we have to wait another 2-3 months.
Alan Wake's not a chapter. It's a Mid-Chapter.
February's gonna have the PTB of the next full Chapter already.
These things go fast, eh?
-
Not to be rude, but... The same as always? We've doing this for 7+ years now.
Just throw stuff at the wall and see what sticks.
-
Auras were still visible in the demo game they played on stream.
-
They… announced he was on ✨the list✨ like half a year ago now.
That’s just not true.
-
Guessing the Lights Out mode took the developer bandwidth that usually goes to events.
-
I don't think that has gone live yet, as it's related to the Lights Out mode. Might be wrong tho.

@BassGuitarRox said:
I got home late and only just had chance to start watching the stream - does anyone know if you’ll get the drops as long as you’ve participated at some point while it was live please?
You can accumulate watchtime by watching anyone streaming DbD. Not just the official channel.
-
They specifically said "no voicelines". There's a chancce she still has the regular grunts 'n screams and such.
-
For Switch players:
-
Twins is easily the rarest, followed by Pig and GF.
Billy would have taken 3rd place, but with his update that's likely going to change.

You dont have to observe it. The increase from 2,5% to 5% is a Buff. And not really a needed one, because they could have removed Gentapping with the old value of 2,5% as well.
Given that there’s now a limit on how many times a gen can be kicked, making a dry kick more impactful seems perfectly reasonable to me.
All the same, we’ve seen this time and time again. The PTB playerbase is very small compared the the entire playerbase. It is, quite simply, impossible to tell how this will play out in the grand scheme of things. Before that, everything is ultimately just speculation.
