Prove Thyself most importantly. The 100% bonus bloodpoints in co-op actions on gens is needed back.
Yes, my friend!
Can't believe I forgot about Prove Thyself.

They are leagues ahead of us.

I wanted to contribute to this post in some way, but all I could find was this screenshot of mine:
30 March of 2021, right from his release.
My first time playing against him was on Grim Pantry, if I recall correctly. He tried to camp me and another survivor afterwards, but failed.

"The ability to see the survivors and what items they're bringing is a core aspect of the killer being able to setup their perks/items to help compensate and know what to expect."
Sadly this is not the case anymore. Because Killers use this information to dodge the Lobby instead of preparing. I mean, what do you want to prepare anyway?
- Franklins Demise? I only see it when Events are going on where Survivors can obtain Items. I never (and I really mean never) see it outside of those events.
- Mangled to counter Medkits? Mangled is already in almost every game... Even without a single Medkit.
- Lightborn for Flashlights? Can be a point, but since Residual Manifest and Flashbangs exist, you cannot really prepare for it anyway, so Killers who dislike being blinded should probably equip it anyway.
The only purpose currently is to dodge Lobbies.
"I'm guessing it also doesn't happen nearly often enough to be a concern or more people would be complaining and BHVR would've made a change (likely for the worse) by now."
There are complaints. And BHVR was at least testing to hide Prestige Levels in the Lobby, but apparently it is a hard decision to do that (it should not).
At the very least the Killer should not be able to see the names and profiles of the Survivors. But as I said, the information for the Killer are used for dodging almost all the time instead of preparing. So the Pregame-Lobby can really go at this point.
EDIT: And the worst thing is that the people who are punished the most are Killers who get backfilled into Lobbies where they simply dont belong. Having a Killer with below 100 hours going against Survivors with 20k hours combined? Yep, happens. And who is at fault? The Killer who decided that they want an easier match who dodged the Lobby before.
Lightborn for Flashlights? Can be a point, but since Residual Manifest and Flashbangs exist, you cannot really prepare for it anyway, so Killers who dislike being blinded should probably equip it anyway.
Imo, the thing about Flashbangs and Blast Mine is that there is no preparing for it. Like, a killer who doesn't like being blinded cannot waste a perk slot for something that may or may not be there.
At least with Flashlights there is a clear warning they will be present in the trial. So the killer can choose whether or not to bring Lightborn.

Nah, everyone else here is right.
It was directed towards the survivors, "ez escape" since we didn't actually do anything. But this is often associated with toxicity and I should have thought of that.

Something to keep in mind is when a player DCes, they get sent to that screen first. Also, the killer might NOT have been console just because they aren't on Steam. You also have...that OTHER PC platform...
I didn't send it immediately. Even if it was... the OTHER platform, I'm convinced the killer didn't see it.
Still, it could have backfired in a way I didn't intend to. Not my brightest moment.

The fact that you even did it regardless shows that you are the exact type of player people complain about in regards to toxicity. At least you recognize that. But if i were you, i would look at the behavior that I do in game and in chat and reflect on that before i complain about other people. Admitting it was a good first step.
I am not a toxic player. You can ask anyone who has ever played with or against me. I don't tbag, flashlight click, nor insult anyone.
Though I understand this one was a bad call on my part. It was supposed to be a joke for the other two survivors "ez escape", you know? And it was! But if the killer had seen that, it definitely wouldn't have the intended effect.
That was a mistake, but it is also an isolated event. It never happens.

Obvious SWF is obvious, apparently.
The ability to see the survivors and what items they're bringing is a core aspect of the killer being able to setup their perks/items to help compensate and know what to expect. Being a 4v1 match, this is the balance. I don't know of a way that would prevent a killer lobby dodging while still having this. Locking any of the players to the lobby until the countdown is done will just cause people to disconnect or not play.
It really wouldn't matter, anyway. If they remove the ability to lobby dodge then killers will likely just AFK or meme until the match is over. Or DC, play something else until the DC timer is done (if it's a long one), or just play something else for the rest of the play session. Either way it wouldn't force the trial to play out normally but could increase the survivor queue times, or cause more MMR wonkiness by throwing random MMR killers in to fill the role.
I'm guessing it also doesn't happen nearly often enough to be a concern or more people would be complaining and BHVR would've made a change (likely for the worse) by now.
This.

What makes wesker unfun to go against?
He has counterplay he’s not just anti loop hold w killer like Xeno(I hate his power and his gameplay).
What do you hate about him?
Those things are very personal, but I don't like the way he plays.
Dash forward, throw survivors in random directions and a countdown towards Hindered? That just doesn't appeal to me, I don't want to go against that.

You know that in the screenshot you gave you literally said "ez" in chat to antagonize the killer and is usually the start of a toxic spree of people yelling at each other?
But the killer DCed and was, most likely, console. He wouldn't see it. That was a little joke for Jake and Ace.
EDIT: In hindsight, that wasn't the best idea. What I meant it as a joke is often associated with toxicity, so like... very bad call on my part.
Ah well, the killer didn't see it, so no harm was done.

Swf is one thing.
It’s another when people pretend that the impact that a duo or trio has on the game is minimal compared to solo queue.
Sure swf can’t be nerfed, but this group is probably the one of the main reasons why players just tunnel and camp at 5 gens. If the game is full of bad players as the narrative goes, then it’s more likely for an average Killer to lose to a swf than 4 “competent solo queue players”.
People who want to tunnel will tunnel regardless of who their opponents are.
After all, it is a strategy: removing someone from the game as soon as possible creates a 1v3 scenario, which is far easier for a killer to handle than a 1v4.
But this strategy is frowned upon. So it is their choice to do it or not, a choice which honestly isn't affected by the presence of a SWF group.

While you're here dear friend (this is offtopic)
Now that you're playing DBD again are you still playing Freddy? Or have you moved to a different killer to fill the void?
Hello, friend! To answer your off-topic question:
Yes, I'm still playing Freddy. I did buy the Dredge recently because a thread about him here sparked my interest, and I do have some other kills leveled up (such as Hag, Bubba, Oni, and a few others), but like... I have been a Freddy main since 2018, and no amount of awful reworks will change that.
-
Not to me, he ain't.
Because in my opinion Chucky has one little detail that makes him different from Wesker: Chucky isn't awful to go against.

I hate when people DC, but in her case i can at least understand why.
She feels very similar to the old Legion. No real interactive play, no reactive play, no real counter. You just get hit and downed in the dumbest way possible.
There is no doubt in my mind that Skull Merchant needs another rework. I have enough faith in the Developers that they have already realised that.
I can maybe understand why people want to DC against her. I mean, that match I mentioned, for example: it could have been a victory for us, but it was going to be boring to the extreme. No one really wants to go through that, I suppose.
Old Legion is an interesting killer to compare her to. One of the few things from the Old DBD that I do not miss, and everyone knows I don't say that often. There is a similarity in the way they are both problematic.
Like I said, the developers will know they have to change her again when they look at the feedback, as it is unlikely anyone will have positive things to say.

Skull Merchant is a more extreme example I'll admit, but that doesn't mean Thrill didnt have its issues
Honestly, my friend, I can't see it.
I can maybe see the personal opinion of some survivors who didn't like to play around totems, or maybe killers who didn't bother to defend their totems. But in general? I think Thrill was one of the healthiest perks in the game, and I add its nerf to my colossal list of changes that shouldn't have happened.
A list which doesn't include Skull Merchant's changes, btw (it is best to avoid the confusion this time).

Im not saying it was his best option, but just because it wasn't doesn't mean it wasn't problematic
Skull Merchant is a more recent and widespread example. She was by no means a good killer, but she was without a doubt problematic
Yes, but like... there is a huge difference between Skull Merchant and Thrill of the Hunt.
One was straight up broken, at least based on the information I've received. Thrill was completely fine, it didn't need a nerf.

Tbh I’d be pissed if they hid prestige because atp what is the point of prestiging a survivor past 9? No one can see and no one will know so what’s it even matter, it’ll be like having a high player level and devotion aka just another meaningless number
But going past P9 already has no point for survivors, unless you want to have as many add-ons as possible.
If people want to hide prestige, I see no reason to stop them.
-

@I_CAME said:
The lobby should not even exist to begin with. You should just queue and go straight into the loading screen once you find a match. You'd get games faster and the games would likely be more balanced due to less dodging on both sides. I think the problem is deeper than just killers seeing prestige levels. It's also the fact that they can see hours, items, etc. This should not be a thing. All it does is encourage lobby shopping. The lobby right now is an inconvenience at best. It just makes you have to wait at least 2-3 minutes longer than you would have to if it didn't exist.
and P100s do not get targeted. I have not been successfully tunneled in my last few hundred games and I almost always play on a P100.
Nah, the lobby has to be there for last-second adjustments.
Franklin's Demise, Lightborn and Sloppy Butcher are perks that can potentially be added / removed from a killer's build depending on what they see before the trial starts.
That is important. It can't just disappear.

Seems you have ppl hating killer powers no matter which route they go. Ppl hate slowdown killers too like Legion that forces mend. It really feels like unless a killer is forced into predictable M1 gameplay, people will hate it.
But the M1 gameplay creates opportunity for loops and mindgames. People don't complain about those because the chases where both sides can mindgame and outplay the other are the most fun.
Anti-loop is just boring and Legion is just... no. Pig is a good example of a slowdown killer done right.

No change will ever "fix" skull merchant because people are so used to hating her it doesn't matter what she does people will insta-quit.
She isn't that bad now she's basically just a super charged clown. It's really funny because literally everyone was screaming at BHVR to make her do something in chase and attach hinder to claw traps. BHVR listened and basically did that and now the community has to cope with the fact it has no idea what it actually wants.
I think it can be done.
I just don't know how. But there has to be a way to make her fun without killing her identity.

Agreed. I think, hopefully… they will be forced to change her.
If they look at feedback regarding SM, they will. I don't think anyone has anything really positive to say about her.
I've disagreed with 99% of changes BHVR has implemented into this game since patch 3.1.0, back in 2019. So usually I am not one to call for something to be changed or reworked.
But in Skull Merchant's case, I honestly don't see another option.
-
Xeno is miserable to go against because he represents exactly the thing everyone is tired of: anti-loop killers.
There is little you can truly do against him in chase except breaking LoS, but with map reworks creating deadzones everywhere sometimes there is no breaking LoS.
And even if you do, he is a 4.6 killer, he will catch up eventually. This doesn't mean he is "overpowered" or "impossible to escape", but like... why design a killer like this?

Not all of these would happen at the same time. Just some ideas off the top of my head.
Re-balancing the 3v1 to be less Killer-sided. Whether that be via action speed buffs or respawning pallets or something, idk.
Having unhooked Survivors be intangible until they perform a conspicuous (or rushed) action or until another Survivor is downed. Could have some issues with flashlights, but honestly, that's two people not doing gens.
Having a basekit DS. Buffing DS.
Buffing DS.
Yes, please.

How the heck should i know if she is good at 3gen? Before we even get close to a 3gen, my entire team has already dc'd or is dead.
Exactly, that is the main problem I'm seeing.
I recently played against one on Sanctum of Wrath, and I thought it was going to be an easy game because she played her first chases very poorly. Took a long time to catch up, even with her anti-loop kit.
But my team just gave up, they didn't even try! What I think was going to be an easy escape for us turned into an easy 4k.
I fear this killer might need another change. This situation isn't good.
-
I usually just ignore them and continue working on that gen. Someone has to recover the progress they lost by missing the skill check.
If I am the one who missed the skill check however... then I ignore whatever they do and continue working on the gen, because then I will recover the progress.
It is all about finishing that gen.

It was also healthy in the fact that the killer put all their eggs in one basket, if they fail totem defense they lose their entire build, although things might be a bit different with using pentimento nowadays
That is an interesting aspect of Totem defense builds with Thrill of the Hunt: the risk.
The killer is taking a different approach with their build and it can be pretty powerful, but that build can be removed. That creates a scenario where the killer wants to protect the totems, while survivors want to destroy them. I've had very fun games where that happened.

The reason why they nerfed it is because it was an unhealthy perk.
Using it in combination with something like Devour with certain killers and add ons made it practically uncounterable, and was just miserable to go against. Only reason why it wasnt complained about in mass is because not many people used it.
I disagree with the notion of Thrill being unhealthy, I liked to go against Totem defenders.
I've seen some unique builds with it, from Monto's Russian Roulette build to killers who wanted a chance to protect their Old Hex: Ruin. I loved those types of games, the stakes were always high and it was more than just doing gens.
Actually, I think it was one of the most healthy perks in the game.

The day DBD allowed SWF was the day communications started making DBD a non-hide and seek survival game no matter how hard we wish it was, myself included.
SWF has to be allowed. It was literally added as a feature to stop people from lobby dodging until they managed to find the same lobby their friends were in.
It is in the nature of multiplayer games, it has to exist. But an in-game voice chat? Here?
