Playing againts Alien

Many Killers have anti-loop power and that's fine. Alien isn't top tier killer or overpowered either, they are better killers than him.

But I just want to say it feels so bad when you predrop pallet, run few meters behind it and still get hit by the tail, feels soooooo baaad, but its not OP. I have mixed feelings about it xD.

Comments

  • Indeed. The killer is not overpowered.

I personally feel it's way worse to not being able to play around pallets at all.

    *Nurse has entered the room*

  • break LoS immediately after predropping if you're within tail range by that moment.

  • It does feel aweful and every killer functioning that way (Nemsis, new Trickster, old Deathslinger ect) should not even exist. Which makes me wonder what BHVR was thinking. Aren't they aware that most survivors hate those type of loose/loose scenario killers? Why realese so many of them?

Alien is the pinnacle of that sort of killer tho. 115%, no windup basically, super quick excecution.

  • Thankfully I don't go against them very often but when I do I simply can't do anything in chase. Even if I don't drop the pallet and immediatly try and run to the side, the tail still gets me. Nemmy at least has a bit of time to get his whip ready, and that gives you a bigger window to get behind cover, but the tail doesn't need to be 'readied', and you pretty much have to AVOID pallets completely.

  • There is however the ability to fake the pallet. You step towards it like you're gonna throw then don't...

If the Xeno doesn't throw the tail, they either: -

    • Respect the pallet and you win that exchange.
    • They don't respect the pallet and they are actually trying to m1 you, winning that exchange... unless you can guess and react with a pallet throw if you're brave.

If they do throw the tail: -

    • They straight up fall for the bait and miss, which slows them to 1.2m/s for 3s and you make a nice amount of distance. You can even just throw the pallet in their face now that its safe for either a stun or to use the loop.
    • They manage to flick at you, in which you can crouch/try to juke or try to gain distance off the successful hit.

These kind of things are basically what every mind game in DBD is predicated on. If you guess/execute wrong, the killer should acore a hit, if the killer guesses/executes wrong, you stall until the next exchange.

There are characters that shut down loops hard, but Xeno is quite mind game-able compared to something like Artist or Skull Merchant.

  • Honestly I hate playing xeno. The turrets feel awful. Not essentially to strong just feels a lot like old deadhard days...every chase starts with a slow down and losing my power. I don't think it is imbalanced just makes xeno miserable to play. Seems like a poor design. Playing against xeno is fun though.

  • "Playing against Xeno is fun though"

Think you'll be in the minority there, bud.

  • Xeno is miserable to go against because he represents exactly the thing everyone is tired of: anti-loop killers.

There is little you can truly do against him in chase except breaking LoS, but with map reworks creating deadzones everywhere sometimes there is no breaking LoS.

And even if you do, he is a 4.6 killer, he will catch up eventually. This doesn't mean he is "overpowered" or "impossible to escape", but like... why design a killer like this?

  • Xeno is miserable to play because the tail attack is a complete crapshoot as to whether it’s going to hit the survivor or not.

  • I enjoy playing vs Xeno, rare to see though. Seeing a lot of survivors dating they hate anti loop killers like Nemesis, Trickster, Xeno, etc. Really rather have slow trash M1 killers to eat every pallet? Clear reason why they're not picked that often just being miserable to play as.

Seems you have ppl hating killer powers no matter which route they go. Ppl hate slowdown killers too like Legion that forces mend. It really feels like unless a killer is forced into predictable M1 gameplay, people will hate it.

But the M1 gameplay creates opportunity for loops and mindgames. People don't complain about those because the chases where both sides can mindgame and outplay the other are the most fun.

Anti-loop is just boring and Legion is just... no. Pig is a good example of a slowdown killer done right.

Except when the Pig decides to chase them rather than let them get the head trap off... Sadako has a similar time waster mechanic that can lead to an early death and she's constantly hated on.

  • I have no idea how to chase against this killer but I do know I get hit every time I drop a pallet so i no longer do that and actually last longer 🤣 instead of dropping, I'll run to the side and their tail whip misses, which gives me a bit of time. I can usually repeat this a couple times. I also randomly run around her to confuse her when she gets too close. Most Xenos are used to getting tail hits so this works on those who don't usually use basic hits, I think because they forget it's even an option. If they keep using their tail while I'm right up against them, they'll usually miss. And of course, if you have good solo team mates there will be turrets somewhere to use. If she's knocked out of power then looping and pallets are good to go.

Fair enough, yeah. There are some playstyles that completely ruin the experience.

Though I would much rather go against those than killers like Wesker or Xeno.

  • Xeno feels horrendous to play. The tail's hitbox prioritizes hitting anything but the survivor and it feels like it doesn't even aim for the center of the screen so the aim is always off by just enough to make you hit walls and pallets instead of the survivor you're trying to hit. The cooldown is also incredibly slow, it's like your turn into ice for missing. Not to mention how disorienting it is to have your POV shift to 2 feet off the ground, and then getting constant flamethrowers in your face.

He doesn't feel good, ever. I've been seriously trying but it's just not working out, he feels like an easily bullied dog.

I would agree that it was player playstyle until you look at the addons. Having a Pig addon that affects survivors with status effects like blindness or exhausted when they have the helmet doesn't make sense if you're not suppose to pressure survivors with helmets. The majority of her addons are about making the pigtraps more of a pain.
