What is BHVR's criteria for banning someone being accused of cheating?

I've been accused of on many occasions of cheating. Variations from wall hacking to moving to fast with pwyf. The most recent was someone unable to blind me but they were all over the place while trying to blind me. This usually coming from newer players and while in the past this is just hilarious. It is a bit concerning now that bhvr said that they were going to be making changes to the report system. I dont want to get banned for new players accusing me of cheating so I was wondering what does bhvr take into consideration for bans.

  • If there is no proof, then you're not getting banned. I was falsely accused (and probably reported too) of cheating before. Multiple times.

But so far, I haven't been banned and I am not worried about it. I don't have anything on my computer that would temper with the game files and there cannot be any evidence of me cheating because I haven't done that.

It's likely that many of us have been wrong about someone cheating before (I know I have because a perk description was false) and BHVR would know that. So taking someone's word without any clear evidence would be a big risk for them as it would potentially lead to quite a few players getting banned over nothing.

The amount of ppl who assume someone is cheating without looking at perks and addons is astounding. The scratched mirror Myers is OBVIOUSLY cheating with wall hacks, lol.

  • I remember a year or so back, I was accused of cheating for using BBQ and Chili to find the last survivor hiding behind a rock. I was never hit with any warning or anything despite being told 2-3 people in their SWF would report me for it.

I assume BHVR can trace the report back to the match and review it for any inconsistency, or more likely relies on video/photographic evidence of the offense in an official report.

One time, a Laurie accused me of cheating after I found her in a locker.

    The locker had idle crows...

  • Tbh, it seems even actual cheaters have a hard time getting banned. So I imagine you'll be fine.

  • I’ve been false reported countless times. Never so much as a warning. You’ll be fine.

So you hacked those crows... despicable

  • I've had survivors accuse me of cheating because I knew where they were. I don't think they realized the perks they were using reveals their aura to the killer. Plus, I always run aura reading on Blight.

  • They are my Spies from the Shadows.

  • Tell the crows working with the killer is bannable

  • "In the shadows they torment, scarring our minds with each scream."

They are leagues ahead of us.
