Contrary to what some people believe, this isn't 2017 DBD

    :(

    Send me there, PLEASE.

  • Yeah... that is just not how it works.

We all accepted the EULA, so that is perfectly legal for them to do. If it wasn't, then I would take legal action for this game not being the same game I paid for back in 2018.

The developers make decisions we disagree with and we can provide feedback. But in legal terms? Nothing wrong was done.

Also, to add. I am a firm believer that nothing should be locked behind “you missed your chance, now it is gone”. I still feel there should be a charm shop for example where all rift charms can be bought and during events certain past event charms. Also Legacy and Deep Rift should come back to the store, albeit not purchasable with auric cells but shards only so you do need to work for them like people have in the past. Just make a legacy set 200.000 shards or something. That way people who have them don’t feel discombobulated because newer players getting them have had to work hard for them as well

If Legacy were to ever come back, I think it should revert your Bloodweb back to what it was in 2016. And your BP gains.

That way, you'll go through the same grind. It is only fair.

Something to climb towards like a ranking system. Right now there is nothing. That pip and grade system is totally meaningless and now it's gone from my screen until I open up my profile.

I want to see a leaderboard see how much I did my objective at the end of the match. I want to see something.

Like the ranks we used to have?

I've stopped playing around the first week of November and I've played about five matches this month.

I just don't feel the appeal, even with Chucky.

And as survivor I mostly play solo so ...

That spike in December : Chucky?

Nope, don't really care about him. It is just me back to playing this game regularly.

  • Sure, here is mine:

The issue started with introcuding a lacklaster of prestige 100 that only brought a grind withit. My point was with the overall system inlcuding but not limited to Devotion Level etc. Sure does the Shrine of Secrets need a overhaul and so does the daily rituals. As you see, there is actually a lot of things that need a touch up which does not take a lot of time or effort - yet here we are, having none of that besides weird excuses. So yet again, its not about bragging rights - more about respecting the time players put into dead by daylight. And by the way there is no problem with showing that someone actually leveled up to 100.

I disagree with the Shrine and Daily Rituals needing changes. Maybe rituals could award more points than they currently, but otherwise I think they are fine.

And I don't get why not having a reward for P100 is a disrespect of a player's time. You could have thousands of hours into this game back then and not have prestiged once because you didn't want to lose your stuff. Hell, my first prestige cost me my last Splinter offering.

If anything I think the system should be reverted. Just go back to P1, 2 and 3. Unlock the perks and the bloody cosmetics at the same time. I think this is definitely better than the alternative we currently have.

  • Alright, as for the actual topic of discussion here:

I'm fine with no new prestige rewards.

Honestly, I think the whole "P100" thing was a mistake. Going all the way to P3-50 was reasonable, and you got some good rewards out of it.

One prestige level for each bloody cosmetic, then it is over. That system was okay, I liked that. But now? Now you just do it endlessly for no reason other than a red badge that most people want to hide. They could have made the perks unlock for everyone without changing the whole system.

I see no reason to award something for a massive grind that shouldn't be there. I do think the red backgrounds were awful though, so that could have been better.

The big issue was probably the save file itself. You could freely edit your save file since Dead by Daylight did not had a copy of them. Meaning everything was on your computer. So that's why it hurt double to lose them - there was no copy. People had to make sure of having backups etc. And even then it was not safe. Just a BHVR thing honestly.

Yeah, but like... just give it to everyone who has the first prestige achievement before November of 2016, which I believe was the deadline for Legacy.

At least everyone who lost them will get them back.

  •  “there’s not enough evidence of owning said legacy”

I never understood this. All you have to do is look at the achievement.

The "current state of things" is exacerbated by bringing 3-4 slowdown perks at best, it is not helped or diminished. At worst, bringing 3-4 slowdown perks creates the "current state of things", as you and others have put it.

People think that generators fly and it's completely outside their control, therefore they must need to stack the tools that make generators go slower, but that's just not true. There are diminishing returns on your slowdown perks, for one- they all require actually progressing your objective before they do much and if you don't have anything to make that progression easier, you aren't going to be helped by your slowdown perks because they aren't even being activated that frequently.

It would be better - and with a few narrow exceptions for strips of time where certain perks were wildly overtuned, has always been better - to bring a balanced build that helps you in any areas you might be struggling with, or just to give you varied value to begin with. Info and chase perks are nigh essential, they are not strictly weaker than slowdown and using them alongside specific slowdown perks that actually synergise well is the right call if you feel that generators are being completed too quickly.

The actual current state of the game really isn't that bad once you understand this. A few things could use some changes, but the objective speeds are pretty okay as long as you understand how you get slowdown as killer without relying on four disconnected perks that don't even work that way.

I think it is a consequence, actually. I definitely agree with the importance of varied builds, but I understand why many players aren't doing it. The way I see it, it is just a natural response.

As for the current state of the game... well, I will make it clear that I am biased. I have disagreed with 99% of every change implemented into this game since mid-2019. However, I really cannot see anything positive with no one healing, stacked slowdown and the endless camping and tunnel that I'm seeing.

  • The Forums aren't bad, there is just the occasional bait here and there.

And hey, at least we are leagues ahead of DBD Twitter.

Unfortunately, Pyramid Head will only appear to those who have guilt. Therefore, in a real life situation (and I use that term loosely, considering!) whereby someone has enough guilt to conjure him, then they are the only ones who would face him and thereby be unable to hide.

Those who don't face him because of not enough of the right guilt cannot say they can hide from him in a real situation, since he won't have ever existed. Those who face him will be found.

Basically, the only chance of prolonging your survival is provide enough mannequins from him to have happy time with so he may leave you be for a bit.

Well, at least if you don't have guilt you are completely safe.

    Easy escape.

Yes, but you're wrong. There wasn't an across-the-board slowdown nerf, so the gen time can't have been nullified even if we assume that you'd need slowdown perks to benefit from the increased gen time to begin with, which you do not. I only bring up some of the nerfed slowdown perks being still good to support that point, I apologise if I accidentally implied you said that part. My bad on that front.

As to the rest of your statement, those killers should try not bringing 3-4 slowdown perks. I'd imagine they'd start doing a little better if they stop shooting themselves in the foot like that.

I think it is hard to say killers shouldn't bring 3-4 slowdown perks with the current state of things. I mean, I don't do it, but I understand why some people do.

It is all connected. The moment you cannot expect survivors to do anything other than gens, then you cannot expect killers to bring anything other than slowdown. Several aspects of the game suffered tremendously with unnecessary changes, which happens way too often, and it is impacting both sides.

    This must be fixed.

  • He will be getting a change eventually, but we don't know what nor when.

I feel you are so off with that sentiment, at least with past reworks. The recent ones where more miss than hit, I'll give you that. But overall there changes to killers (reworks and adjustments) were good more often than not:

    Good reworks / power tweaks:

    • Trapper
    • Wraith
    • Nurse (making her less oppressive and more healthy to the game)
    • Doctor (!)
    • Cannibal (!)
    • Clown
    • Spirit
    • Legion (don't know why you place them as bad, honestly)
    • Ghostface

    Mixed reworks / power tweaks:

    • Deathslinger
    • Onryo (More tape interactions now)
    • Skull Merchant (No more chess merchant!)

    Bad reworks / power tweaks:

    • Billy
    • Trickster

    Freddy gets his own tier:

    • His rework was initially received quite well! At that time, Freddy with his original kit was considered F tier, hated by most survivors and killers. He needed one specific set of addons to stand a chance at all. Its funny how the Freddy nostalgics in this forum always fail to mention that. Or they simply forgot.
    • The rework made him strong enough to compete against most teams. He was still hated by survivors (bc of Forever Freddy Builds), but at least he was fun to play as now (or not as frustrating as before).
    • Poor guy didn't age so well, he received numerous nerfs, placing him back into D tier again.
    • Expectations changed somehow, so Freddy is now considered "boring" by the majority of the community, although that certainly was not the case right after the rework.
    • Also relevant to mention, while many suggest the the original kit would only have needed incpacitated for dream transition, that type of effect was not part of the game when the rework happened. It was later added when Twins joined the game.
    • Overall, I wouldn't call the Freddy rework a miss, it just did not age very well over the years!

Oh come on, please have some empathy.

Do you know how awful it felt as an Old Freddy main to see your killer GONE? When you know there were better ways to fix him?

That was terrible. Freddy's rework isn't just a miss, it is the biggest failure of them all.

  • @Marc_go_solo said:

Any Killer can be hidden from in real life, if the person is stealthy and agile enough.

Ironically, the exception would probably be Pyramid Head, being that he's the guilt of the individual he stalks, so if he's your demon then there's no escaping him.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aM_dygCIX9I

(Sorry, I had to do it)

Seriously though, let me break it down for you Marc: PH is actually the easiest, because you can just... have no guilt.

Sometimes you aren't haunted by your actions, and if that happens PH is useless against you.

No, mate. She will. Judging by her power, and her Mori. Devour Hope.

The Hex power is a reflection of the cannibal clan. They would lock their victim away. Leave. Come to take a piece of the victim’s flesh. Then leave.

The Hag actually developed a taste for flesh like they did, but its out of spite. After restraining survivors on a hook The Hag will leave. The hunger for their flesh swells each time. The hunger reaches a critical point where even The Entity realizes it. When that happens The Entity actually allows The Hag to partake in its own natural feeding process.

Essentially whenever you’re up against The Hag she intends to cannibalize everyone present. She is incredibly ruthless from a lore standpoint. 😬

I'd still take my chances with her.

The only thing I miss was the spam swinging in Feral Frenzy because it was goofy... but every other part about his kit was horrible.

I guess you can say, that everyone was that time was dealing with... Darkness Among Them.

Yeah, it was pretty awful. And I was a new player at the time, I had no idea what was going on.

Though the situation wasn't good for seasoned players either, having to play against a killer like that one. I guess, when they saw Legion, many players just went into a frenzy. A Feral Frenzy.

Lack of fun is definitely a factor.

Survivors complaining about gen regression though shows that it's still decent and having an impact, which isn't a bad thing. IMO PR+PGTW are massively effective in every game I see them in (which is most lol), and I personally think they're fine because they're setting back progression but not stopping it completely. I do see alot of killers complaining that the opposite is true, that gen regression is not good enough and usually theyll refer back to the start of year nerfs. Which of course happened because of the gen kick meta era when they could literally halt progression as opposed to just setting it back. That's become the standard on which too many killers base the current state of killer (imo anyway, though it was a shared consensus in the discussion).

    I agree.

And it does leads to the conclusion that something has to be done.

I think they are talking about original Legion... which like... the original version of Legion was horrible, and was only held together by two rubberbands and a bandaid.

    That is an understatement.

If you mean human tend to do the easiest thing first, yes.

But for me with old Trapper, or Sadako for @radiantHero23 & Freddy for @GeneralV . Despite the killers were weaker (admit that they needed a slight QoL), but we know how to make it work which make the killer so unique for us. Now its easy for everyone, the time we spent to master those killers were pointless now.

    • If I was in the looping with a survivor in tittle A, and there are tittle B (with one hard to be seen trap) and tittle C (without trap). I could manipulate survivor to chaining to B but not C so I can get use of the trap. I think that's the most unique skill of mine with Trapper.
    • Now you can put both traps at tittle B & C pallets (because you have so many traps but not much good places to set), and hope there is no other survivor coming to disarm the obvious traps, rendering them useless. But if not, its dead end for the chased survivor.

Well said, my friend. Well said.

I'll always disagree with the idea that Old Freddy was the weakest killer back then, even though I won't ever deny that he needed QoL improvements. But as you've said, it didn't matter to me that people thought him weak. All I ever saw was my favorite killer.

I remember every trick I tried to learn with him, jut like you did with Trapper, @radiantHero23 with Sadako and so many others with their own killers.

The mindgames during the Dream Transition, the strategies for controlling the map... now what do I have?

Two boring abilities which barely work and a teleport.

It is not always about strength, sometimes its about fun. And when that isn't taken into consideration, players like us suffer.

We lose the things that make DBD fun.

You realize "when they say old Freddy" all they want is for him to be able to see your aura the entire game right? Notice none of the Freddy's ever give a description of the old "Freddy" lol but I wouldn't mind the being invisible part until you are put in the dream world to come back? That was cool and very innovative. Bhvr please stop giving us these standard killers and get creative like guy's use to do.

    No one gives a description?

But I gave the Forums a full concept:

Greetings, survivors, killers, and both-siders of the Fog! I hope this thread finds you doing well. Thanks for joining me today.

So, Freddy Krueger is currently trending around here. Unfortunately, it is not for a good reason. This poor killer, my favorite character in the game, is completely ruined. And this situation cannot be tolerated.

It is with that in mind that I would like to present you, once again, my idea for what should be done with this character. I have been a Freddy main since 2018 and would be honored to have a shot at fixing this killer that I truly love.

Without further ado, here it is:

    Power: Dream Demon

Pull survivors into the Dream World

-Survivors who are awake do not see The Nightmare.

-Once targeted by The Nightmare’s power, survivors enter the Dream Transition for 7 seconds.

-During the Dream Transition Survivors can see The Nightmare intermittently and they suffer from the Incapacitated status effect.

-When the Dream Transition Lapse, the Survivor is pulled into the Dream World.

    Once in the Dream World:

-Survivor’s auras are revealed to The Nightmare when they are outside of his terror radius.

-Survivors suffer an action speed penalty of 50%.

-To exit the Dream World, Survivors can find non-sleeping Survivors to perform a wake up action.

-Failed Skill Checks can also wake up.

    -Hooked Survivors wake up.

    Special Ability: Dream Projection

-Teleport to a Generator in view. Releasing the button early will cancel the action.

-Survivors cannot interact with the targeted Generator.

“You have nothing to worry about. This won’t hurt one… little… bit.” -Freddy Krueger

    Add-ons:

    Wool Shirt:

-Slightly decreases Skill Check chances in the Dream World.

    Sheep Block:

    Slightly reduces Dream Transition time.

-Time to fall asleep is reduced by 0.5 seconds.

    Kid’s Drawing:

    Slightly increases Dream Demon range.

    Garden Rake:

Slightly increases Movement speed while casting Dream Demon.

    Prototype Claws:

Moderately increases Movement speed while casting Dream Demon.

    Outdoor Rope:

While Survivors are in the Dream World:

Applies a moderate (-6%) Action Speed penalty to Repair, Healing, and Sabotage actions.

    Nancy’s Sketch:

    Moderately increases Dream Demon range

    Green Dress:

Considerably decreases Skill Check chances in the Dream World.

Slightly increases Dream Projection charge time.

    Cat Block:

    Moderately reduces Dream Transition time.

-Time to fall asleep is reduced by 1 second.

    Unicorn Block:

    Considerably reduces Dream Transition time.

-Time to fall asleep is reduced by 1.5 seconds.

    Swing Chains:

Survivors suffer from an increased Action Speed penalty of 60% after 30 seconds in the Dream World

Survivors only see glimpses of The Nightmare during the Dream Transition.

    Nancy’s Masterpiece:

    Tremendously increases Dream Demon range.

    Jump Rope:

Tremendously decreases Survivors' Action speed when in the Dream World.

    Blue Dress:

Moderately decreases Skill Check chances in the Dream World.

Moderately reduces Dream Projection charge time.

“I had to keep you awake long enough so when you finally slept… you would never wake up again” -Freddy Krueger

    Pill Bottle:

Survivors do not see The Nightmare during the Dream Transition.

    Paint Thinner:

Tremendously increases Movement speed while casting Dream Demon.

    Class Photo:

-When a Survivor is pulled into the Dream Transition, all other Survivors' Auras are revealed to The Nightmare for the duration of the Dream Transition.

    -Tremendously increases Dream Transition time.

Time to fall asleep is increased by 2 seconds.

    “Z” Block:

    Tremendously reduces Dream Transition time.

-Time to fall asleep reduced by 2 seconds.

    Red Paint Brush:

-Tremendously decreases The Nightmare's Terror Radius.

    -Tremendously reduces Dream Transition time.

Time to fall asleep is reduced by 2 seconds.

-Slightly reduces The Nightmare's Movement speed.

“Don’t be afraid. I can make it the way it was... Just the way you liked it” -Freddy Krueger

    Black Box:

When channelling Dream Projection, the following effects apply:

    -All Generators spew blood.

-Suppresses the appearance of the Husk.

“I can sleep… I just don’t want to” -Dean Russell

And here it is! I hope you like what you see, and feel free to share your own thoughts and ideas here. We'll all work together to get our killer back!

-Signed by GeneralV, undisputed master of the Old DBD, and the most dedicated Old Freddy main in history.

I actually liked the loot boxes because you were able to get everything in them just from playing the game. They were basically a way to speed up the grind or for players who couldn't play long enough to get everything. I played OW so much before OW 2 came out that I almost always had a lot of loot boxes available from leveling up. Even still I would sometimes buy loot boxes just to get certain skins I wanted faster during holiday events. I remember one time I saved up 200 loot boxes from playing just to say I did it. 😁 It took me over an hour to open them all so I never did that again.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/U3BBEOVQ7VUF/screenshot-20-07-22-01-41-46-000.jpg

OW 2 just felt like a huge monetization update to the game with less fun content. 5v5 was something I don't think anyone wanted. Reworks and nerfs ruined several characters for me like Wrecking Ball and Bastion. The new stat UI and rank system looked weird to me. There was just too much different from before. After awhile, I just lost almost all interest in the game. I log in from time to time and play a few matches, but I just can't get into it like I did before. It really sucks because OW used to be my favorite game.

Honestly, I'll never understand why they thought 5v5 was a good idea. OW clearly wasn't made for that.

  • I think so.

Honestly, Beast of Prey is a perk I haven't used since I got the achievement for Adept Huntress and that was like... 3 or 4 years ago.

The only thing it was useful for was mindgames and for that it only has to hide the red stain, the entirety of the Undetectable effect isn't really needed.

So yeah, if I was going for it, I would use it as long as it hid the red stain.

"Players know and understand this truth (especially Killer Mains) and opt into a stance of hard denial (especially on the forums and in polls) so the Developers will continue to hold Killer player’s hands and serve up the most simplistic 4K possible"

I was involved in a discussion on this on Twitch, about how frequent killer complaints are these days despite the role being easier to play than ever before. And the conclusion reached was that the devs allowed the gen kick meta to go on for too long. It's why so many complaints about gen regression perks still dominate too. The success of that time is cemented in so many minds that it's become the standard for what *should* be happening, as opposed to an unfortunate circumstance of perfect synergy between a select few reworked perks.

So I don't know whether it's true that these players "know" these truths, as opposed to them having expectations that will honestly never be met.

I think the problem is simply the lack of fun.

The general complaints from the killer side recently mostly revolve around gens flying, while most survivors are complaining about gen regression perks. Though one thing is deeply connected to the other.

It is unreasonable to expect survivors to do anything other than gens at this point. Everything else they could do (namely: totems, healing and chases) has suffered so much with unnecessary changes that essentially there is no choice but to commit to the objective you have left, or you lose the trial.

To counter that, killers stack slowdown perks. And naturally, no one has fun.

I use Kindred and people do that all the time even when I can clearly see the killer is not camping.

I know that was an old thing, I had never heard that expression though.

Also, Steve is one of the most suicidal players lol.

I hate saying that because he's my 2nd highest Prestige character, but yeah, Steve, Laurie, Leon and David are most likely to give up on 1st hook.

Yep, it has always been an useful sort of code.

Wave your arms if the killer is camping, stand still if it is safe to rescue you. I always do it, it is just instinct at this point.

This is what IDV very explicitly uses as its metric for wins and honestly i think for general-purpose gameplay this is the best way of measuring it

Yeah, that is just the way I always did it. It works well.

They changed it because he wasn't actually good and didn't have a power. His power was that he got to play the game and passively just made the game horribly slow and unfun with a specific set of addons. Now they did him dirty by giving him a power that isn't particularly interesting or good, but he needed more that than just QoL because fundamentally his original power shouldn't have shipped the way it did. He needs to have his power addressed again to make it more exciting and useful, but I'm not even sure what to give him because simply put I don't think the remake really did a good job showcasing the powers of a dream demon.

Freddy's one of the few killers I would have personally took a pass on adding to the game if I couldn't get the 80's/90's version.

I have a concept for Freddy, shared with the Forums quite a few times.

The feedback I've got overall is that it fixes the issues people had with him, while keeping his power fun and unique.

I can guarantee you it would work. And if I can fix Freddy, so could BHVR back in 2019.

The “win streaks” don’t carry much weight to me, after seeing the winstreak style of gameplay.

Congratulations, you hard tunneled and slugged at 5 gens using all slowdown in pub matches. More than half the games have people just immediately give up and go next.

Not impressed. Without that style of gameplay, regardless of the killer, the streaks would be nowhere near as high.

    Well said.

    Like, what is the point?

Wow, congrats you made the match unfun for you and for everyone else more than a thousand times.

  • So, I don't have a recording of it, but let me share my experience:

First (and probably only) survivor trial of the day I got The Pale Rose. I was really excited for a second because it is one of the two maps in the game that I still enjoy, so I thought it was going to be a good match.

    And what do I get?

    1- Tunneling Huntress

2- Mikaela disconnects before her first hook

    3- Yui farms me

Welcome to modern DBD, I suppose. All that we were missing was a ruined reworked map and a new "hold W pre-drop everything" killer.

Then we would have the full package.

  • That is actually a pretty good idea.

Old old Ruin was terrible designed.

It was effortless Slowdown for the Killer. The reworked Ruin required the Killer to put effort in chasing Survivors off Gens and it only really became a problem due to Tinkerer (because this gave too much information, especially for high mobiliy Killers).

Old old Ruin also was inconsistent, even on top of being a Hex. You can get 0 Skill Checks while completing a Gen or get a Skill Check every 3 seconds. And, it punished newish players more than experienced players. Against a good Team, old old Ruin had nearly no value (aside from removing the Bonus Progression on Great Skill Checks), against an inexperienced team it was too strong. Pair that with the fact that the little progress you could do was removed by PGTW...

Yeah, old old Ruin needed to go and it was one of the most healthy changes ever, since they kept a Perk strong with a Rework, but not unhealthy.

There are times where the nostalgia is too much. And defending old old Ruin is one of those times.

Well, thanks for being polite this time.

But I stand by my opinion.

First, I see no issue with Ruin specifically being an "effortless" slowdown because it is a Hex. The very idea of hex perks are high risk high reward. Ruin is allowed to have a powerful effect from the get go because once it is gone, it is gone.

As for the inconsistency, well that could indeed happen. But from what I've seen even seasoned players were far more likely to try and search for the totem, as it should be, than to try and power through it. Don't get me wrong, you could do that. Heck, I did it myself plenty of times. But that wasn't the most common, scenario, at least in my experience.

And well, opinions are subjective. You may see a healthy change, I just see one of my favorite perks in the game being removed.

There are times where the nostalgia is too much. And defending old old Ruin is one of those times.

Also just your opinion, not a fact.

But that is okay. There are matters we won't see eye to eye, and there is nothing wrong with that. As long as the discussion is kept civil, of course.

  • Feedback, as long as it isn't disrespectful, is always fair and justified.

If people aren't happy with the current state of things, they are allowed to voice their displeasure.

  • I think Hag.

Hag targeted the cannibalistic clan which tortured her and then she was taken by the Entity. Depending on the circumstances of this encounter, there would be no reason for her to go after me.

But if there is... you watch your step. That is essentially all you have to do.

I started lightly playing near launch. I really miss the mood and atmosphere of the old game.

    This.

It wasn't at its peak when I started playing, but it was leagues ahead of its current state.

    We really need that back.

I'd rather see that as basekit, like seeing more maps being scary/dark than a game mode.

And I wonder if Freddy's bright Dreamworld would have conflicts with that mode 🤔

To OP, other than stealth killers and Dredge (maybe Hag with the jumpscares), I don't find any of the killers scary (gameplay wise, 'cause I wouldn't like to face doctor irl LOL) tbh. Also maps are mostly way too bright and you can see the killer from afar, that's why I love indoor Maps, specially Midwich; which has a fantastic setting with jumpscares included.

So I'm not sure if it lost its touch or never was really there to begin with. As a horror fan I've never seen this game as scary.

I wonder if the new cooperative game they are making will be more horror oriented.

I agree, but the fact they know we want it is already a good sign.

And nah, no need to worry about Freddy. Lighting changes can affect the Dream World. It would be fine.

Pretty sure you'd get that no matter what. If you could also get em to bring heavy fog back too we'd appreciate it.

Maybe, but I did suggest this on the recent Map Check-In for Disturbed Ward and people seem to like the idea, so maybe it would be better this time.

And yes, the fog is extremely important.

Ohh i totally forgot about the disable part of the current Ruin. Yeah, they should have tested it first. Double punishing a "high risk, high reward" perk.

    6.1 was weird, man.

Also, I don't think Stake-out is a good excuse for old-old Ruin. I don't think it's healthy to mandate that perk, just like I don't think it's okay to have to bring Calm Spirit for Ultimate Weapon.

I dealt with Ruin just fine without Stake Out.

You didn't need to have it. It is a different situation when compared to Calm Spirit and Ultimate Weapon (which is an extremely annoying perk, btw).

You need to prepare thread demanding that good old maps to be back to devs. I really want to try that old maps. Those look so cool.

I could do it, just gotta remember to make it very clear that I'll be asking for a classic pack, not for the maps to be reverted.

Because if I don't, I guarantee someone will show up there saying things like "ah, but x map is much better now, rose tinted glasses, blinded by nostalgia" blah blah blah.

Nobody is happy with anything, gee

Might as well survivors die in 1 hit

People were happier when each individual aspect of this game wasn't ruined.

But since they were, there is nothing else for survivors to do other than gens. Therefore, gens fly. Killers stack gen slowdown to counter that and no one has fun. Welcome to modern DBD.

There was an amazing totem spawn on Coal Tower. Behind a bucket. Really well hidden. Or one on Lerys on the second floor in the middle room, below a table.

Instead now we have spawns on top of a hill or in front of a gen. Only way to make them even more obvious, would be to put them on top of a Gen.

I really don´t get why they decided to make totem spawns so bad. We have 4 totem finder perks + maps. But no one uses the perks, because there is no point in finding a totem. So much wasted potential.

Ah, I remember that one on Léry's. That was really good. Looking at some of the totem spots we have now, it honestly makes me sad.

And here I agree completely, my friend. I miss the time some people would run Small Game because finding totems was a good secondary objective.

Credit where it's due. Newer maps may look good, but most lack the atmosphere.

Agree to disagree on this one. I can't stand to look at newer maps.

I will give them credit for creating the older maps, all of which I loved. That was a pretty good job.

    But it is ruined now.

I agree 1000% on this. It feels like BHVR took DBD down the same route as Capcom with Resident Evil; RE1-RE3 truly gave eerie and horror vibes with the traditional zombies, then RE4 and RE5 came with the new action-like playstyle, but Wesker was just such a badass in RE5 that he's never considered scary or threatening really even when he chases you in the particular stages of the game (Hell, it turned to Sheva and Chris putting hands on my boy like what?). Sure, Capcom brought back a horror vibe with the later installments, though it wasn't what made RE what RE is. Feels like DBD went down that route and there's less incentive to go back to the roots, but make it more about exciting chases and map updates with pallets and better graphics.

Community's feedback should be enough of an incentive to go back to the roots. We are saying things.

    They just have to listen.

Many killers are stronger, I believe Trapper is alot stronger with 10 traps and Haste.

But I dont like how he plays now, I gave up on him. There are people like their killers because of the way killers play style, not strength.

There are people like their killers because of the way killers play style, not strength.

    This.

    Well said, my friend.

I know that feeling all too well. Even if I disagree with the people who said Old Freddy was the weakest killer in the game back then (he wasn't, I would prove everyone wrong if I could).

I know how it is to see your killer being made stronger, because after the rework Freddy was objectively stronger, but the killer being so different that you can no longer stand him.

It hurts, doesn't it? For me, it is terrible.

  • @Rulebreaker said:

    Ohh it's definitely lost a lot of the horror touch. {Warning he's gonna rant}

The survivors have a lack of fear for the killer. Not saying due to killer aesthetics (a psycho pop star could be worrying to some) but survivors just don't fear anything and WANT to get in the killers face most times (least till they're on death hook, THEN they get worried). And with many safety nets (super safe pallets, buildings like garden of Joy's manor, long loops, the like) they've got little reason to fear at the start and think they're untouchable {till we prove otherwise}. This isn't even getting into the apathy players may feel from playing a long while or seeing the same thing 21 times or whatever reason and decide to jump on hook.

Killer players themselves also have some blame. Who's gonna fear the guy who can't chase but can stall out the game forever, or keeps chasing 1 guy and purposely ignores the rest? Not us that's for sure and probably quite a few others. Many run the same damn thing the same damn way. No creativity, no surprises, nothing to worry about or shock us.

Then the atmosphere. Not to sound to much like a certain Freddy main, but the older aesthetics created a much creepier atmosphere. Yes we like the new look of most maps (sans coldwind which is bright for our tastes, they all look very nice) but the fog and darkness of when we started caused our spines to chill. No hud {though admittedly it's probably healthier for the game overall}, no idea what everyone is doing, less perks to save yourself (baring DS which works once), we had to survive on instinct and skill. There's less mystery is probably what we're getting at.

    {Apologies for the rant, he's cooling down in a corner now}

Not to sound to much like a certain Freddy main

Hahahahaha, I'm happy you agree with me :)

  • Yeah, the horror factor of DBD has suffered greatly.

The main problem, at least in my opinion, are the map reworks. Even if you disregard the fact that no one asked for those changes, they've completely removed the horror atmosphere and eerie factor the maps used to have. Just look at Coldwind Farm, that one is a perfect example.

Oh, and the fog. There needs to be more fog, just like it used to be. How can they say their famous line of "see you in the fog" if most maps don't have the actual fog?

Sure, some people will use that same argument of "after a long time playing this game, it is no longer scary". And as repetitive as it is to see this exact same argument every time this kind of discussion pops up, they are right.

That, however, doesn't change the fact that there is a very clear difference between having a scary atmosphere and having nothing at all. At least the game is making an effort, you know?

Judging by the proposed "Disgustingly Scary" mode, the developers seem to be aware of this issue; If they will do something about it remains to be seen.
