  • Spirit and I already have had a few great dates. We're officially waifu and husbandu (whatever the term is) now.

monto did spirit blindfolded with 5000K dollar headphones...

Monto is literally one of the most skilled players I've ever seen play DBD. I guarantee he can do the same thing with other killers if he tried. Basing this kind of argument off of one person's experience isn't fair, because there are many people that don't have the right mentality or practice to play spirit and there are some that do. Just because one person does it easily doesn't mean everyone else will.

  • I think spirit should show glimpses of her current location every 1.5 seconds or 2 seconds. I think that would make her a lot more balanced.

  • Thank you so much for clearing this up!!! I'm a spirit main and it honestly nauseates me whenever someone says she requires no skill. Saying any killer in the game requires no skill is brain dead. Her skill ceiling is so much higher than people realize. I find myself improving after every match and learning new tricks. I don't think her skill ceiling is nearly as high as nurse, huntress, slinger, and maybe hag, but it's still pretty significant.

All your points were very good and provided a lot of detail to back it up, while the only argument I have heard people that believe spirit doesn't require skill have is "all you need is a headset and stridor." Might as well say "all you need is to learn how to bump into things to play blight" or "all you need is to learn to aim to play huntress." Not saying these killers don't require skill, I'm just trying to make a point about how the "headset" narrative is kind of stupid.

Now, I can agree that her 1v1 is very unbalanced and needs a tweak. I don't like it that she gives little to no info for the survivors to work with. I understand the frustrations from survivor mains and I understand everyone wants to have fun playing the game, but I don't think it's necessary to completely come after spirit players saying we are playing a skill-less killer and calling us tryhard and trash. That kind of behavior is childish if you ask me.

That explains it. Yeah I do believe emblem system is harder in red ranks now from what I noticed. Seems like I have to do a lot of things now compared to lower ranks. There are times I'm an inch away from getting a pip despite getting some saves, killer interactions and generators this would have been a pip in lower ranks.

Yeah, I guess that's true. I think more points are required in red ranks, I just found it super unfair I depipped from that match that I played well on.

  • @Greatamygdala said:

Any footage of this? and what rank are you?

I think emblem system is a bit more harsher with emblem points the higher you go but I had a Wraith afk the entire match so I only did generator the entire game then left. Still safety pip, this was an instant depip like a nearly a year ago.

So I'm guessing this isn't a guaranteed safe pip in red ranks but in lower ranks it is?

I was rank 4 when I played that match, which moved me back down to rank 5. I eventually got back into rank 4 after that, though. And no, I don't have any footage because my PC can't handle DBD by itself that well, can't imagine how bad it would be if I'm recording it lol.

  • @Stealth said:

Ya it's pretty garbage. If you beat the Killer so bad that he gets no hooks, you are denied altruism and chase and can depip.

I believe this PH did have a few hooks but also has put us in cages a few times. Do the cages even count for altruism points when someone is rescued, because if they don't, that definitely needs to be addressed.

  • So basically, you're a tryhard for equipping an optimal build for huntress (a killer that struggles with finding survivors without specific perks) and trying to win... Not that I should be surprised that they have that mindset considering that's 85% of survivor mains these days.

  • I think quite a few of those aren't really that major of an issue and should be the least of our concerns. I do agree, being a spirit main, the stand still mindgame should be much weaker, ghost face's reveal mechanic is super janky and needs to be fixed ASAP, and hag and twins shouldn't be able to completely guard hooks without being punished for doing it. I do agree with the issue for PH, but I'm not really sure how that can be fixed without removing the cage of atonement power completely from his basekit, which I don't think will be the way to fix it. Another issue you didn't state is forever freddy. Keeping gen progress slow with perks while already having the map presence other killers dream of having is kind of absurd. Although his ability to teleport does have a cooldown, I think a solution to that would be where the cooldown is a lot longer or he should only be able to use it when maybe more the half the team is asleep. Also what viden stated about slinger is true as well.

Other than those I mentioned, I don't really see the issue with the rest of these. Landing shreds or ambushes are usually not reliable and could cost you if you get greedy with landing those attacks on the obsession when they are about to get to a safe spot where you should probably just basic attack to guarantee a hit. STBFL is great at what it does and it is not a crutch perk by any means. It helps with a major weakness killers have without that perk, which is letting survivors get a lot of distance after putting them in the injured state from the healthy state. Huntress is a 4.4 killer so she needs to have something to help her catch survivors quicker or else she'd be weak, so the fact her hatchet throws have a shorter cooldown than basic attacks is actually good. This strategy on wraith is a tactic that must be learned to play wraith to his maximum potential. Consistently landing precise body blocks takes skill, great timing, and knowledge so this one was a little weird imo.

  • If they made a DBD 2, they'd better keep spirit or we gonna have a problem.

  • I personally just don't like hag because of her ability to camp so efficiently. Defending hooks is the best strategy for hag if you want to play her to her maximum potential.

The devs need to nerf her ability to camp, but to compensate, they need to buff something in her base kit as well. Hag should be unable to place traps within a 12-meter radius of the hooked survivor, and also any traps that were previously in that radius are washed away.

A good buff would possibly be to make her teleport slightly faster and/or can teleport from a slightly longer distance than in her current state. What survivor mains need to understand is that, when you nerf a killer, you need to address the main issue everyone has while still keeping her just as strong as she is, just in a different way.

Survivor mains that ask for killers like spirit, hag, freddy, etc. to be nerfed to the ground need to understand that they're not the only people playing the game, the killer players still need to have viable options otherwise it's an easy win for the survivors every single match, and no one wants that. Removing the issues while still keeping the killers just as viable will make the game healthy for both sides.

I'm a spirit main and I get the frustrations people have with her, but when they ask for nerfs, they don't want any buff in return. Having that kind of mentality proves that you don't have any sympathy for the other side. I am truly hoping that spirit gets a rework so her power is more interactive and fair, but still keeping her as strong as she is in her current state.

  • Pig really needs more love, I hope the devs can give her a proper rework to make her more viable and less RNG with her traps.

  • You are saying this so confidently when survivors have SWF, DS+Unbreakable, keys, and OP loops like the disturbed ward.

Lemme argue against all your points:

    1. If killers lose ruin/undying, they're down to TWO MORE PERKS, which is so costly for the killer.
    2. Freddy+tinkerer can be powerful but you aren't taking into account that freddy's teleportation mechanic has a cooldown so if tinkerer goes off and his ability isn't up, what is he gonna do then? If the survivors are asleep they can hear his lullaby if he is coming.
    3. Ah yes, I've been hearing this silly take from so many egotistical survivor mains that don't wanna take the time to learn what they can do against her. Bad spirits are so easy to counter even if they have stridor and you don't have iron will. It's also stupid to say a 4.4 killer with no game slowdown in her kit and only has an amazing chase potential (that so many people struggle with) is a guaranteed 4k, especially against an efficient group of survivors that splits up and does gens.
    4. NOED is a problem but it will only guarantee one hook (not kill) at end game. It's not an effective perk at all.
    5. Against stupid survivors, yes. There are so many counters to camping tho. If someone in the group has BT, they can easily get the save while the other two body block. Any half-decent group of survivors can pull that off even if they are solo or even if they don't have BT. Could just do the gens as well which is boring but gens are the main objective anyway.
    6. Tunneling one survivor is such a terrible strategy especially if the survivor is any good. Only bad killers tunnel so anyone can run around a tunneler for 3-5 gens.
    7. This take is so weird. Doesn't the killer need to work to even get to this point of the game in the first place, so what's your point here?
    8. So if killer don't need to find survivors, how are they supposed to down them if they don't find them? You do realize survivors also have a lot of perks too right? How is blight, PH, slinger, victor easy to hit survivors with exactly? Mount ormond and the autohaven maps are actually so much more balanced now with there being sooooo many survivor sided maps, with great example being disturbed ward, haddonfield, the game, etc. Totem placements are super inconsistent with some being hard to find and some that can be seen from 5 light years away.

Yes. Your progress is linked to your steam account rather than any device that you might use to access it.

Alright sounds good, thanks so much for the response!

  • If we're talking no add ons, trapper is pretty bad, but he's got some add ons that change up his playstyle and make him a threat.

  • Between those killers, I'd definitely say plague. Many would argue that her set of teachable perks are the best out of all killers with them being infectious fright, corrupt intervention, and dark devotion. But if you are mainly looking for a more fun and rewarding killer to play, I'd pick blight.

  • Spirit's my main and the one I've put the most hours into, so it's definitely her with billy, pig, and Myers not too far behind.

  • My favorite killer is spirit as she is very fun once you get good with her. I also find hillbilly, blight, pig, and myers very rewarding and fun once you get good with them. Not sure what your general playstyle is so this is something you'll have to figure out as you play more killers, but I'll split the killers up into different categories for you to help you decide which killer you might wanna try.

1v1 heavy killers: spirit, nurse, deathslinger, huntress, clown, demo, PH, blight, doc

Snowbally killers: hillbilly, bubba, oni, myers

Strategic based killers: ghostface, pig, twins, freddy, plague

Hit and run killers: legion, wraith

    Preparation based killers: trapper, hag

  • I'm not sure what that leatherface match you just mentioned has anything to do with the game being balanced. That match was clearly on the survivors for being grouped together against a bubba. I play both sides and I can confidently say the game is more survivor-sided. I have probably played more survivor than killer to be fair. The devs don't want to focus on major issues in the game but instead want to nerf balanced killers like BILLY. There are also so many unbalanced maps with a great example being the disturbed ward with the building being a complete nightmare for killers.

  • Moris are still useful because you get to counter things like DS and flashlight saves, while also getting to watch that sick more animation. If you think that old moris were fine and balanced, then idk what to tell you. Moris were tied with keys for the most unbalanced thing in DBD, because they both reduced the amount of objectives you needed to complete without the other side having a good way to counter it. Keys now hold that title alone until they're fixed. Also was stupid that killers relied on a frikin OFFERING to give them an easy win.

  • Did you really just say nerf pig?

  • I hate playing hag so much. I don't find a killer that can facecamp a helpless hooked survivor effectively any fun and for that same reason, I hate playing against her as well. People wanna call bubba the king of facecamping, but the main difference between bubba and hag is that at least bubba will get punished if he's facecamping because he can't be in multiple places at once. Hag can just set 4 billion traps around the hook and can freely move away without any punishment to it. Nurse definitely takes the number 2 spot but that's because the learning curve on her is kinda frustrating. It's not that I hate her playstyle, I just haven't put enough hours in on nurse as I have with spirit (the most time I've invested in), hillbilly, Myers, and pig.

  • I'll forgive them if they can fix their mistakes.

We all can agree that this game is toxic, very toxic on both sides. For most people, this might not even affect you other than just upset you for a bit. Seriously, I know that we have all gotten upset over this game, especially this game because of the balance issues, but I am not going to go over that right now.

Toxicity doesn't do much to most players of this game, at most it just enrages them for a bit. However, there are people who play this game who are depressed, or very stressed and just want to play a game to relax and have fun. But then they get messages in the endgame chat such as "Go commit die" or "trash killer can only win by killing survivors as killer". I won't get too into it here but the messages get MUCH more 'explicit' if you know what I mean.

I guarantee you that everyone experiences toxicity in this game almost on a daily basis. I personally have received some messages that I am almost glad I got from sore losers. I say this because at least they didn't say these things to someone who really doesn't need this in their life right now.

The worst message I got was from someone who was probably having a bad day already. I was told to commit suicide, eat feces and die, and send the video to him after slicing my wrists; he literally sent me his snapchat... yeah so this is the kind of behavior I am talking about (I myself am fine btw, I laughed about this). Now, imagine some person who is depressed or just really stressed reading that. Ok, sure that might not push them over the edge, but it might.

Now why? Why the hell are you telling someone to off themselves over a game??? I am going to be honest with you, I rage when playing this game. But I have never told someone to go kill themselves. In fact, I still say "gg, gl on next" every game until the insults start rolling out.

I really hope that my reports for harassment actually does something. But the sad part is that it probably doesn't, even though I have evidence of it. This is why an update to the reporting system needs an update. You know, among tons of other things BHVR ignores.

There is another person on the other side of the screen btw. They are humans, people tend to forget that sometimes.

I've never gotten any death threats while playing DBD, but I have gotten bullied and/or harassed a few times. I try my best to ignore it because people that find that stuff okay don't have a life and are just trying to get in someone's head because they feel the need to. It's honestly just sad that there are people that pull this kind of bs over a video game.

  • They should instead make a TV series where every episode stars a different character. It will only have to be the non-licensed characters so Myers, Freddy, Ghostface, etc. won't be included.

I think everyone hates her gameplay, not her character and...

Am I the only who is sad while watching Rin's face waiting in-lobby? I mean, there's a part where you can see sadness and pain in her face and it makes you feel bad about her.

I have seen a lot of people hate on her saying she should get taken out of the game and it really pisses me off because I love Rin so much.

Also, I get very sad watching her sad face in the menu. Honestly makes me almost tear up.

  • @lazerlight said:

How we feelin' Freddy stans. Your precious killer is finally gonna get the nerf he needs 🤭🤭🤭

    Found the survivor main lmao

  • Everything that has happened to Rin was beyond her control. The fact she is so hated by the community sucks because she's already been through enough.

  • When it comes to hatch opening when there's one survivor left, I think it's a great addition to the game. Although, I think keys are just as unbalanced as moris and multiple survivors shouldn't be able to escape through hatch.

  • Spirit is my girl ♥️

  • "Do the bones" is not a fair counter. It takes so much time to cleanse five totems to deactivate a perk that the killer might not even have. The fact that there's no way of knowing if the killer has NOED until someone is affected by it is my personal complaint about it.

  • Honestly had a hard time choosing between freddy and hag. I'm picking freddy because there's absolutely nothing I can really do in a chase if he's any good at the game when I'm asleep. Hag is pretty annoying too. I love going against strong killers like spirit, nurse, oni, billy, and huntress that make it an intense battle.

  • @KoboldsInATrenchcoat said:

But to stay on topic, an idea on how to make spirit more interactive and less of a guessing game, you could take the sound that she makes when phasing and make it directional, so survivors can somewhat get a sense of where she’s coming from and formulate a plan to avoid her or risk getting attacked and killed.

I'm pretty sure about a month ago, there was a bug where the survivor heard where spirit was while she was in phase. Of course the devs fixed that bug faster than bugs that were actually a problem like the hill bug. It made spirit more balanced but still didn't affect good spirits in any way. Wish the devs kept that bug.

  • Not really interested in this DLC tbh

  • I believe Scott Jund stated out that they should just remove tiers 2 and 3. I agree because it can separate good killer player from bad killer players. Bad killer players that rely on bloodlust every chase aren't growing or improving. I would like for more players to get better and better but bloodlust gave a lot of players bad habits.

  • I love using enduring because it basically lets me bulldoze through any pallet I please and not caring about getting stunned.

  • I don't play clown myself, so I'm not sure how I feel about a rework. He's kinda boring to go against when playing survivor but I rarely ever play against him. Hopefully they can make him more entertaining to go against without making him too OP or super weak.

I don't know how to judge Adrenaline. It's barely even an exhaustion perk.

I mean, I guess adrenaline counts because it does cause the exhausted effect when it triggers.

  • I'm picking spirit out of all characters in the whole game not just killers, she's a literal cutie

  • @dugman said:

NOED isn’t really that powerful a perk, in effect it’s more or less Haunted Ground that triggers at the end of the match versus in the middle. It’s effect is slightly better than Haunted Ground because of the speed boost, but on the flip side the downs from Haunted Ground have a better chance of snowballing into a win since they give a momentum boost early in the match versus at the very end, in addition to NOED possibly never triggering because the dull totems were cleansed before the generators were completed. (Haunted Ground can hypothetically not go off as well but in practice survivors have been hyperfocussed on cleansing totems so it’s been consistently triggering every match I use it, at least.)

I suspect the main reason survivors complain about NOED but don’t complain about Haunted Ground is because psychologically once the generators are done the survivors feel like they’re about to win and getting downed by NOED at that point therefore becomes much more frustrating. It’s losing something you thought you already gained.

I’m not sure how common NOED is among killers, but it is a universal perk available in all bloodwebs automatically so that easy availability probably helps slightly.

For a suggestion to nerf NOED to make sense there would need to be some actual data showing that killers with NOED are outperforming killers who use other perks in score or kill rate. If the data doesn’t support a nerf then the most you could get would be a neutral change.

That's all fair. I also don't think NOED is a powerful perk it is just more frustrating than anything to go against, because it punishes survivors that played a solid game and rewards killers that played a poor game. Maybe I shouldn't have mentioned "nerf" because like I said NOED isn't super strong like BBQ, whispers, and ruin/undying, it just needs a change that still makes it a viable perk but survivors don't get frustrated when they do get hit with NOED's effect.

They stabbed me for like no reason :(

I mean isn't that what every killer does lol

  • I've been playing a lot more killer lately but I mainly play both sides.

  • I think Trapper because he's probably the most add-on/perk reliant killer in the game. It's so annoying playing as him only having one trap to carry around and on top of that having to go to the opposite side of the map when a gen or 2 has already popped. He should be able to have a default of 3 traps in his hand and that add-on that lets him start off with two extra traps should let him carry 5 and should spawn less traps around the map to make it balanced. At least with Hag you're able to set up your traps with your hand instead of going annoying routes to collect your traps.
