  • Yeah, makes sense mate. In the past I always left if it was red. I've just been away a long time and have forgotten lots.

To the guy saying it's not needed.... #########? So you're okay with bad ping killers who have internet priority on hits? I seem to recall a hell of a lot of complaints about hits that never should've landed.

To my knowledge (and I'm assuming here), if you're a survivor, you see the killers ping in the bottom right so you know your connection with them is good.

If you're the killer, you can see everyone's ping (it's next to their names instead).

Sorry if I got your hopes up, I should have been clearer in my first post

So I was seeing my connection to the killer? This shouldn't be the case with dedicatd servers though, so I'm not so sure. It definitely used to be the case, when the killer was hosting. Now it should show killer's ping to the server, which is probably the case. I suppose as a survivor that's all that matters, so it makes sense.

    Thanks.

Again, this is console but if you scroll over the colored bar, it will tell you what their ping is (in number form)

Just checked. I only see my own ping, not the other 3 survivors and not the killer. I know my ping is good, I wanna check everyone else.

I mean, that's what most of my argument is about. Fine, if a survivor gets unhooked then spams a locker notification and gets hooked immediately, cool. No, you shouldn't be able to farm people like that, so a bit of a bp nerf would help everyone there. It would discourage the killer from tunneling for a higher value target. If you choose to tunnel, so be it. But a killer shouldn't get 3-4 times the points that a survivor gets because he camped a hook, and then tunneled the survivor. It's happened, I've seen more matches than I can remember where the killer just acted like a train. Hooked and killed 2 people, and had an insane amount of points compared to the survivors who did gens, got chased and escaped, or whatever other objectives. That's ridiculous. Why do killers get THAT many points compared to survivors who do all of their objectives?

Yeah. BP nerfs are okay with me if the devs deem it necessary. I really don't care one way or the other.

Well I'm usually on the receiving end of the toxic messages due to camping at the end-game cuz like... what else do you want me to do. However the reason as to why I play the killer is because there is way more things that can annoy you on the survivor side that can be done intentionally by the players. When getting looped as a killer it's easy to blame it on the game's design or just player being better at the game. Survivors on the other side, rely on their team which can lead to frustration at certain moments. For example when you don't get healed after being unhooked or others letting you reach the struggle phase on a hook.

Yeah, I feel you there. I still play more survivor than killer though. Guess I'm a glutton for punishment, lol.

Really though, I find it more exciting trying to escape killers, even though I'm not too good at it - actually probably because of that fact. I'm not one for learning all the pro tricks and ins and outs of the game, just to become one of the toxic vets. As I said elsewhere... no fear no fun, so knowing I can loop a killer endlessly if I go to a certain place will take all the fun out of it for me. I have to feel like the odds are against me to feel real satisfaction at getting away as a survivor. It's the close games (with anything competitive, not just DBD) that stand out as great memories, not games where it was a complete cakewalk.

  • Everything makes everyone mad. What they do is come to these forums and cause endless arguments, mostly over non-issues, due to large amounts of butthurt.

  • There seems to be a lot of debate about what is meant by 'holding the game hostage'.

If the game is still progressing it is not being held hostage. The meaning of this term (in dev's eyes) is to fully stop progress of the game, which cannot be achieved by slugging. Even if the killer slugs all remaining survivors and leaves them all on the floor it's not really taking the game hostage since the game IS still progressing via the bleedout timers and will eventually end.

Ask a dev for clarification if you don't consider this to be fact.

    Example:

If a killer disregards his objecitve (hunting survivors) the trial can still be completed as it requires the survivors to do gens and open the exit.

If the survivors disregard their objective, refusing to do gens and instead just hiding then the trial will come to a standstill. While some killers may be able to flush out the survivors this will not always be the case and a trial could go on for a very long time with no progress being made.

    See the very big difference?

For the record I'm 70/30 survivor/killer so no, I'm not killer biased, I just like logic.

Okay. Thanks. I'm on PS4 and never even notice that. The one time I noticed the bar was as killer, but only saw my own. I'll be on the lookout next time.

  • Colours are amibiguous. Gimme actual numbers for ping.

I'm honestly half expecting this Master Challenge in page 4 of this tome:

As Legion, down 2 Survivors while in Feral Frenzy. Complete this challenge in a single trial.

Just for the rub-ins, from the Devs.

    Haha.

It was a shock to return and see Deep Wounds being inflicted upon Legion by the devs, when he should be inflicting them on survivors.

I do still play him a lot though, because I love running around the map like a madman. I don't care about winning, which is good because I suck.

About a month ago, rank ten Spirit without headphones on the Game vs a 4 man swf with 4 commodious and Bnp. (this was before the toolbox nerf) They genrush to the end but two of them die at the egc because one decided to loop me on one of the pallets by the exit gates instead of just leaving. Afterwards, one of them messages me and says "There's a reason why you'll never reach red ranks."

There's also a reason a lot of these players should never breed.

The easy access of information and education via the internet should be making us collectively smarter, instead I see the opposite happening.

  • There should be an auto-kick feature for anyone above a certain ping. Simple. I forget where I experienced this but a game I played in the past had it implemented. At the very least, everybody's ping should be displayed in the lobby with a visible warning on any player with high ping.

Generally my ping is usually under 20ms. I've always considered anything above 50ms to be too high for a multiplayer game, and believe anybody over 100ms should be insta-kicked. Either that or segregate them in queues and make it so they can only play with 100ms+ players.

    Just my opinion.

Certain types of people never wanna take responsibility for their own actions. If you know you have a bad internet connection then you are most definitely at fault when playing online and causing laggy gameplay. Try as you might, you can't argue against facts.

  • So two map add-ons for seeing survivor's auras stack (24m + 48m) making 72m?

I wondered about this myself earlier today and saw a post asking about it, which was comletely ignored (back in Feb).

  • I stopped playing a month or so after Legion was released, and upon returning to see his current state just a couple of weeks ago I feel I cannot comment without being extremely salty and I'm sure I will be heavily biased in anything I say. For those reasons I will not bother adding anything, but will just say I also wonder ######### is going on with Legion right now.

Either this is amazing bait, in which case well done, or a complete idiot that doesn't realise they are literally everything about killers that people hate.

I think you'll find, from his responses, he wants to be everything that people hate about killers. Engaging him in conversation, especially salt-laden retorts (not aiming that at you specifically, just people in general around here) only fuels his enjoyment. This is how he gets his kicks and lots of players obligingly feed him daily.

    LOL. GG everyone.

IKR! During the day I play solo survivor and I can not condone this.

With all the Killer buffs, the already long wait time for killers is going to skyrocket. Everyone that dual rolls suvivor/killer is going to play killer. Decreasing the survivor pool and increasing the killer pool.

If Novembers stats are correct, I don't even understand why survivors are being nerfed. (Maybe killer has been nerfed since the November release of stats but I don't remember any patches with them being nerfed?).

With the already long killer wait times, I'd rather killer be nerfed a bit to balance out the killer/survivor ratios.

    If anyone doesn't remember...

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/106566/

Who is this "everyone" you speak of? I'm 70/30 survivor/killer and have no plans to change that.

Also, on PS4 I have no trouble finding a match as killer in under 2 minutes at any time. Solo/duo survivor during the day around 5-10mins. Duo survivor at night 10-20mins. UK timezone. I'll be happy if this update brings more killers to queue.

  • It seems like rank means more to some survivors than punishing that which they apparently hate. I've been on these forums only a handful of days and all I see is a bunch of pointless arguments, with the odd bit of logic in the occasional post.

Tell me, other than "bragging rights" (although I wouldn't really call it that with all the trash in survivor red ranks), what does rank get you? Genuine question as I don't know if there is some reward for being/staying red rank.

Personally, if I have to suffer a little to see righteous justice done then so be it.

For the record, I just dropped back to rank 5 survivor after 3 matches of being camped from very early on. Big deal. I stayed on the hook all the way in each trial, not for the survivors but to spit in the face of the killer (with very little effort involved). Currently rank 11 on killer. Also, another toxic survivor came to my YT channel a few days back to tell me I'd never progress past survivor rank 12. SMH. These are the people I'm supposed to help? LOL, they can stay on the hook.

Full-on camper-tunnelers will never change no matter what adjustments are made to BP and rank rewards and I've not seen anybody put forward a logical solution for the devs thus far. I really can't take people seriously when they spend more energy arguing than they do trying to help the situation.

    "For the greater good."

    "Actions speak louder than words."

TL;DR - 70/30 survivor/killer who believes it's down to the survivors to curb this behaviour, because camper-tunnelers won't be dissuaded by trivial things like BP and rank drops. What else do you propose?

  • @White_Owl said:

It's an old relic of Legion 1.0, but doesn't actually make sense with current Legion.

This. Although I see why it is how it is currently. I just think he needs a full rework.

  • I can't wait to see these changes on PS4. Lots of pointess back and forth going on around here. I love how people think that bickering and forcing their opinion down people's throats will somehow make their point valid.

  • I prefer the new look. Can't argue against a more accurate portrayal.

  • I seriously don't get all the crying around here.

As a survivor I hate facecampers (and tunnelers even more so) but I deal with it - I also understand the need to do this in certain situations, but doing it off the bat and every hook is annoying AF for sure.

As a killer I hate toxic survivors.

These things are down to the individual - no matter how much you try to change the game you will not change the mentality of these people and the issues will persist. How much it affects you and how you deal with it is entirely down to you.

  • @Triforcer said:

?? Sorry for not being clear enough in the first post, I AM an aura-reading wraith. I don't plan to stop either, I was just observing that my other killer skills have really suffered.

It was clear. Some people just don't read well.

  • I've had toxic idiots turning up on my YT channel because my privacy settings on PS4 wouldn't allow them to talk ######### there. Pathetic. It makes their little epeens grow, I get it, but it's so sad. As has been said many a time before, they don't pull that ######### IRL only where they are safe in anonymity. I thought the toxic mail I get on shooters was bad, but only the DBD community has ever made me change my privacy settings. People have claimed it an exaggeration, right after sending toxic mail. SMH. Too much internet too young and not enough proper parenting.

  • I love stealth also, on both sides. Is there anything for silent running yet?

Reduced footstep sfx (and/or exertion sfx - no panting when running or cooldown grunts) for both killers and survivors would be nice, for me.

  • I like to play killer but end up as survivor most of the time because I like the tension more than the chase.

    SURVIVOR PERSPECTIVE:

I suffer all sorts at the hands of killers but if I get hooked and camped I just consider it a bust and stay on the hook for as long as possibe to help the rest get some gens done. It's the killer's prerogative. Sacrifice one for the greater good I say. What I don't like is being "rescued" when the killer is right there and likely to tunnel, given their camping nature, unless the rescuer has BT or there are enough bodies to ensure my escape; or wasting time throughout my whole first stage then unhooking me during second stage with the killer approaching.

    KILLER PERSPECTIVE:

Some teams bring this on themselves. As a killer I will only facecamp if I'm way outclassed and being made a fool of by the survivors all game, or if I've had no hooks in a genrush game with 1 or 2 gens left. It's my consolation prize. By that point I'm fed up and just want it to be over. Like last night against two 2s and two 1s, as a rank 12 killer. SMH. If gens are going slow I'm a much more fun and beneficial (in terms of BP) killer to play against.

    OTHER THOUGHTS:

Killer's job - kill. Survivor's job - escape. How you do that shouldn't matter. But hey, I don't take the game that seriously, I play for fun and just try to maximise BP wherever possible.

I recall a scene in a film where two people are trying to outrun a killer...

    survivor 1: "wait, slow down"

    survivor 2: *slows down* "what?"

survivor 1: *overtakes* "just wanted to get ahead of you"

I made sure to check the rules before playing because I would've been a bodyblocking specialist otherwise.

You're an ally until you're no longer useful. You>me. Survival of the fittest.

TL;DR: I play both sides. I don't care about facecamping but BP nerfs are okay, if it comes to that.

  • My vote = Candyman.

    My most wanted list...

    1. Candyman (pleeeeease)
    2. The Thing (great potential here)
    3. Pinhead
    4. Chucky
    5. The Creeper
    6. The Babadook

I feel that, although iconic, the psychotic serial killer is just a tad plain (JT, NB, HL, etc). The closest I'd go is Dr Jekyll (survivor) & Mr Hyde (killer), but that's more of a novelty idea. I really want a vampire and werewolf, but they needn't be licensed.

Above all I want killers that freak me out in trials (Oni, Demogorgon, Nurse, Spirit). As much as I like the new harpoon mechanic for Deathslinger as it brings something unique to the game, the killer is not "scary". Myers still has one of the best fear factors and I believe it's partly down to his theme music - it'll be great when all killers have unique chase music.

Sidenote: All my suggestions are made from a survivor's perspective. A killer main would be more qualified to specualte possible abilities/perks and say who above would be best to play as.

These were all killer offerings.. obviously just theorizing and times could be adjusted.. Just shooting out different ideas and seeing what peoples opinions would be.

Yeah understood, mate. Actual numbers would be decided by the devs but it's good to have a foundation to discuss, which you have provided. Just throwing my thoughts into the mix.

  • I've had this discussion a couple of times with other players. While I would love to see it, I think having a small killer will be too much work to implement. My initial thought was too small to carry survivors. Based on your idea I'd say too much extra animation work, with the dragging and growing hooks. But hey, if the devs feel they could make it work then I'm all for it. Chucky is my favourite franchise killer so I would love to see him make an appearance.

I like the ability you suggest, it would make him a fun killer to play as or against. I don't like the first perk, based off just one generator - any generator that the obsession touches I could go for, at 3/5/7secs on 75/60/45 cooldown. Perks 2 + 3 are good.

    -------

I haven't thought through my ideas for killers as yourself and others have, maybe one day I will. Nevertheless, I have a few I'd love to see...

Licensed: Candyman, Pinhead (Hellraiser), Babadook, The Creeper (Jeepers Creepers), Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde (with Jekyll being a survivor).

    Oh, and The Thing.

Active Ability: Can morph into any of the survivors in the trial (losing it's TR), during which time it can enter lockers and fake survivor interactions (pretend to fix gen or cleanse totem). I think this would breathe new life into the Premonition perk. Not so effective against SWF though I guess. Maybe a distrust effect like the doctor's madness but hallucinating that the other players are the killer (harder to pull off than static hallucinations of course), or hearing TR from other players. Dunno, would definitely require some thinking to make it work.

    Original: Vampire, Werewolf.

I really wanna see different mechanics for new killers so I endorse anything that brings more diversity into the game.

I just want the bps offerings to be buffed in some way.

Brown = 100% bonus bps in selected category

Yellow = 200% bonus bps in selected category

Green = 300% bonus bps in selected category

Escape Cake and Party Streamers remain the same.

    I could go for 100/150/200.

  • The Thing.

Active Ability: Can morph into any of the survivors in the trial (losing it's TR), during which time it can enter lockers and fake survivor interactions (pretend to fix gen or cleanse totem).

Would breathe new life into the Premonition perk.

EDIT: In case it wasn't obvious, I signed up to the forums just for this topic.

  • I think the most out there idea would be to have a character that can be either survivor or killer - Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.

    😀

They will eventually give all killers their own lobby and chase music, like doc or demo

    Good to know.

  • I do it for fun when I'm getting bored. I did wonder the same thing though. When I see others do it sometimes the killer is near and sometimes they are far, so I have no clue if it actually means something or not.

It wouldn't be of use to say the killer is not there as he can see you doing it and know (if this is a common thing) that you are giving the all clear to teammates.

  • @Kaiser_Emotion said:

    hm

chucky, dracula, slade, kevin mccallister for killer

andy, unsure, batman, the robbers for survivor

Ah, never thought of Dracula! A vampire could work. After seeing the Demogorgon, I'd like there to be a werewolf killer. No transformation though, that'd be too much like Oni. Probably end up being way too OP, as it would have great speed and power and also have second-to-none tracking abilities through scent and sound.

My most wanted killers are Candyman (killer bees!) and Pinhead (from Hellraiser). Two unique, iconic characters from the horror genre.

I've just noticed the post above me asks for Candyman too! Yes, my brother.

EDIT: unfortunately, Chucky, Leprechaun and Damien are too small to carry survivors. I would've loved to have seen Chucky in DBD though. My all-time favourite killer.

EDIT 2: I'd also like to see the Babadook or the killer from Jeepers Creepers.

  • I tend to run into longer queues when running duo with my partner (10-15mins compared to 5 max). Most of the day (UK) has fairly good queues for me playing solo, until late evening when the full squads seem to come on and force me to run killer or wait forever to get a trial. These times could be affected by covid-19 lockdown though, I guess.

  • 1) I feel like offerings should only cancel out other offerings not perks/abilities (I can't think of any that do currently, but I have been away for over a year and wasn't too experienced beforehand) . But, if we were to go against that, maybe. There would have to be a survivor counter offering though of course, something like 1/2/3 hooks perma-damaged. The opposite survivor perk would be to grant protection over all generators. That doesn't sound too appealing from a killer's perspective, huh?

    2) I'm okay with this. Need the counter for survivors, recuding the speed. 5/10/15 sounds better.

    3) Nah. More work for survivors so I'm assuming you intend for this to be a killer offering. What would the survivor counter be? Having less than 5 would not benefit the game.

    4+5) Polite response... No thanks.

I'd be interested in seeing a survivor offering that nullifies the killer's offering, and vice versa. These should not affect the universal Bloody Party Streamers offering. I might give this some thought and get back to you with some ideas.

  • Same for consoles. Party chat all round. The chat is what makes some of the best videos great.
