Perma ban for toxic behavior (harassment in endgame chat, tracking down their socials to harass, Steam comments)
This game would be great if the community wasn't majority horrible.

I guess otz is bad then?
Otz actually gave good feedback on how to change it.
Legacycolt has the entire idea wrong. Ignore them.
those who acknowledge its a problem and give valid and constructive feedback on how to fix it, or just say they simply don't like it are 100% fine.
It's those who go "delete it" "everyone who uses DH is bad, its a crutch" "DH users should be killed IRL" who are the problematic players.
-
As a killer main, it's very embarrassing to see so many killer mains on here with the small game perk IRL.
So much entitled whining, us vs them, and overall just small d energy.
"Delete DH" "Everyone who uses DH is bad" "COH users should be killed irl" "SWF is cheating"
Survivors do it too, but not as often on here cause **good lord**

Toxic Killers and Toxic Survivors when they aren't winning every game: "Its just not fun cause it isn't MY way, so I'm going to through a temper tantrum."

T-bagging and clicking is just what people do, it can be considered toxic but it's hard to moderate. I will agree on the flashlight bit, however. I've had a friend who had to stop playing twice and close the game because toxic survivors with a flashlight macro nearly set off a seizure for him and he couldn't remain in the match due to them spamming it at him every time he got close. The worst one was the second time it happened where he told them in post game chat that he had to quit out to avoid it triggering a seizure for him only for the survivor to call him trash, say he doesn't care, then tell him he hope he doesn't look away in time the next time someone does it to him. So yeah there you go cream of the crop right there.
If your friend reported them via customer service, thats a clear perma ban ngl

Dude those new add on changes sound GOOD, like holy shiz *GOOD*

I don't dodge unless I forget a challenge, why isn't that an option? D:

Here's how I'd personally change Dead hard
- Keep it tied to servers and make sure it keeps priority.
- Remove the distance you get to 0
- Make it so you faze in and out and within that period if the killer swings the hit isn't counted.
It's that easy. It would reward you for using it when you think a killer is gonna swing into a pallet or if you're about to go down it will save you enough to hit them with a pallet and it removes the dead hard for distance.
So like the air dodge in smash bros? I like it.
-
No word on when.
-
I honestly wish other killer mains would stop being so immature towards DH entirely, it's cringy as hell.
Like just, come up with an idea to nerf it instead of screaming for it to be deleted, or made useless.
And harassing those who use it is just... sigh -n-
- A Blight main. Zoom Zoom.

hopefully they will fix hug tech and nerf blights addons, those are not full patch notes.
Alchemist ring should do something else entirely. Like speed up recharge of rush tokens after a hit instead of all of them at once.
Compound 33 shouldn't slow down survivors.
That's all I got in mind as a blight main.

Unless they're harassing you directly (bigotry, violating Twitch TOS, or raiding you. Report them.), Ignore them.
Now, here we have a bit of an issue. Because under Twitch Community Guidelines, and subsequently Twitch TOS, stream sniping is directly bannable.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/8NSYZBDHBBBD/image.png
Moreover, section 9(9) of the TOS states that a user may not:
"interfere with or damage the operation of the Twitch Services or any user’s enjoyment of them, by any means, including uploading or otherwise disseminating viruses, adware, spyware, worms, or other malicious code;"
Obviously this can be taken in many ways, and I'm sure that this would entirely depend on the judge on the day and their particular interpretation of the phrase "any user's enjoyment", but if someone were to find substantially less enjoyment in being stream sniped, it is entirely possible that it is also against Twitch TOS.
I'm referring to the twitch streamer themselves, they can accuse you of sniping if you aren't, thats just petty. Its when they harass you, because of that is when its on them. Even if someone is sniping, that doesn't give them the A-ok to start harassing you directly, thats immature as hell and still violates TOS.

Yeah having to provide your evidence is so stupid to me. So if you don't go out and record all of your games (which lowers your FPS by a lot, at least for me) they can't do anything about it and that guy will continue hacking. According to a lot of people they don't even look at your recordings either, which practically makes it useless in the first place.
The game doesn't even have simple sanity checks, you can just move whatever speed you want and the game has no idea. I just don't even report anymore than the in-game one because I know it's not going to do anything and can take over 30 min to upload the video and actually write out the report, it's so bad.
Its weirdly easier to report chat violations, as those are automatically included with the in-game report when issued to the customer support ticket.
So, I say for now, make sure you report those serious violations when you see them, they do follow up on those. (Seen vac bans on people being racist in the chat. When that wonky filter doesn't work surprisingly.)
Its tedious as h e l l, yes, but trust me, it's easier than reporting cheaters. Sadly. It SHOULD be as simple as that (despite it not even being simple).
-
They are strategies, despite not being engaging and or fun for survivors/both parties.
And, they are punished via:
- less BP and pip chance for camping.
- Perks, BT and DS being the big examples.
- Less pressure from both in some cases. (Camping = less chance for a 3-4k, potentially not even a 2k. Tunneling = a massive 5 second stun, and no gen pressure if failed, also less category BP and pip chance if failed which is HUGE).
-
Unless they're harassing you directly (bigotry, violating Twitch TOS, or raiding you. Report them.), Ignore them.
I'm not condoning their actions, but people who tend to act like that, have insecurities IRL that they refuse to confront.
If you don't feed them attention, they'll eventually either:
- Self reflect, and change
- or end up continuing to become a toxic person to where someone in their IRL lives will have to make an intervention.
And no, not every TTV is like this, its still to be studied by an actual professional data collector (possibly never will because, yeahhhh).
TLDR: Unless if they're being a capitol G Gamer with direct extreme harassment (bigotry, personal bullying), ignore them. If they are acting like a capitol G Gamer, report them properly with a customer support ticket, and on Twitch.
-
I browse the place and rarely comment now (on these types of posts, or people needing genuine advice).
Yeah, its not great, this place carries a lot of elitism, whining, hypocrisy, and the toxic side of the community.
Take care out there, tough times.
-
If you want to leave as killer, do it, if its a legit reason (bored, tired, hungry, etc. Priorities come first!) that 5 minute penalty will be nothing to you.
If you plan to come back soon, like a pee break, go to the basement and afk.
If you dont want the leaver penalty, just wait in the basement.
if you're being held hostage by a cheater, alt tab and do something else (most cheaters have the patience of a QAnon Karen at McDonald's, and usually leave between 5-30 minutes, sometimes hours.) ((And if you keep them there, they aren't bothering anyone else too).
-
I came back to the forums to see if anyone else had the same issue and it seems they do.
(Ignoring the immature, toxic as hell cesspool people turned this into)
My little brother has epilepsy, and after a few suggestions from the community, we decided to have him not play the game until something is done.
Behavior should do something. Not allow rapid clicking flashlights, turn down the lights in the institute, eliminate the flashing lights off gens (failed skill checks, blast mine, etc)
I'm sorry for your cousin, I really am.

Look, if you're going to be this antagonistic or you're that unhappy with what you see on the forum, stop coming to the forum
There are a variety of places you could go to interact with other members of dbd community if you don't like what you see here. Whatever you're doing right now isn't about to make the place any less tedious.
Yeah you make a good point. I just wish this community wasn’t yikes on *every social media for it*. Guess I’ll just stick to enjoying the game and watching otz be a gem. Cheers to ya
And I apologize if I came off as antagonistic, not my intention. I’m just sick of seeing Gamer behavior

Be good with your chases, be quick. Down them, or hit them off the gen so they have to go to the boon and heal, by the time they get back the gen regressed.
Unreliable, especially with maps like Badham or Haddonfield and Perks like Dead Hard that grant an extra health state. Hitting them off the gen will let them heal and get back on it, meaning you did nothing for however long it took you to get the first hit
Survivors off healing on COH are not on gens, and gens being regressed during then will be enough pressure by the time they get back. Guard your hexes or use undying, it’ll get cleansed by late game if you’re good enough.
Guarding your Hexes means you're not pressuring Survivors, you're hanging around your Hex, which doesn't regress gens. Undying, like all Hexes, gets cleansed extremely quickly. It grants your Hex a minute, which isn't a good amount of time
Third point: Good, apply pressure against more people while the others go for an unhook.
Sure, let's say you have a Hook. Survivor B goes for the save, you're chasing Survivor A and C is doing gens. D gets unhooked and healed up by B and now they're both on their merry way to do gens. Now you have 3 Survivors on gens, and you're only chasing 1. How is that "pressuring Survivors"?
Dead hard does have viable counters (fear monger, baiting it out by chasing them into a zone they can’t use it to make it to a window), though I do agree it is a touch overpowered (wouldn’t say that makes it survivor sided). I’d say a good nerf is to not make you invincible (if you get hit during it you still go down), so it can still be used as a skilled time’d dodge.
Fair point on hexes.
You’re pressuring survivor A, if you down them and hook them, you can go for C, or D/B if you bump into them.

If you actually read the other comments of the thread, I offered counter points to genuine arguments. I applaud ThatOneDemoplayer for bringing a well structured argument on potential issues.
What I’m refering to is
”Im quitting dbd cause stunning the killer is toxic wha”
”If you use dead hard you’re ass wha”
”Coh is a crutch people who use it are toxic wha”

Ah yes classic "nooo forum is hivemind you aren't allowed to have opinion!!!!!!" mindset, and it's, in fact, wrong.
I’ve been on this forum for a week, and can clearly see its a toxic circlejerk of tribalistic, toxic whining rather than addressing issues properly.
Even on reddit, or twitter.
Its just the same shiz.
Narcissistic replies, Egotistical whining, Toxic sass, and tribalistic circlejerking over “us vs them”

@TruEternity said:
I think there is way more nuance than just saying the game is survivor sided. Maps, perks, killer add ons, tile spawns, play style of each side all factor into who starts with an advantage. The problem is a lot of the community wants to blame the game for their own poor play. To top that off the community is very tribalistic, and any suggestion that a persons preferred side isn’t weak gets torn down.
I’ve given up trying to even talk reasonably to people here, unless you agree killers are oppressed and second class players, you get flamed. Rationale and calm thought is not something that DBD forums do.
Finally, someone gets it

Apply pressure, dont commit to chases for 10+ minutes
Impossible in the current meta with CoH. You can only pressure 1 Survivor at a time, if you leave them, they'll go and heal themselves
COH? Down people, snuff the boon if you see it after downing someone, it wastes their time off gens. Hex ruin works wonders for it.
Survivors won't allow the Killer to snuff the Boon, they'll bless a Totem on the opposite side of the map to make the Boon invincibile, unless the Killer wants to waste 30 seconds or so on snuffing a Boon that will pop up a few seconds later. Hex: Ruin gets cleansed extremely quickly and is extremely unreliable
Swfs? They’re aultiristic asf, they probably wont do gens as much, down them.
Only works against bad players. Survivors who know how to play and want to win won't throw themselves at the Killer to save the weak link of the team
On the first point:
Be good with your chases, be quick. Down them, or hit them off the gen so they have to go to the boon and heal, by the time they get back the gen regressed.
Second point:
Survivors off healing on COH are not on gens, and gens being regressed during then will be enough pressure by the time they get back. Guard your hexes or use undying, it’ll get cleansed by late game if you’re good enough.
Third point: Good, apply pressure against more people while the others go for an unhook.

Not the point. The game is unfun and too stressful when playing Killer. The game is too easy, and stress free for playing survivor - especially in SWF.
People need to stop undermining discussions like these. All you're doing is encouraging more unempathetic toxic behavior in the game design, and community.
Labeling game mechanics like stunning or blinding as “toxic” undermines the actual issue of the player base being full of genuine pricks in the endgame chat

Sure. You can do things. Survivors just berate you and tell you how ######### you are for doing said things against survivors. And they wish death on you
Report them and move on, play how you want so long as it doesn’t violate TOS.
Also, turn off the chat.
It’s Behavior’s fault for not having a proper report system

I know? read again.
But it’s not “survivor sided”.
Everything the survivors do that entitled killers whine about like toxic brats, can be countered.
“gen rushing”? Apply pressure, dont commit to chases for 10+ minutes
flashlights? Look at a wall or hit/down the people around the downed victims.
COH? Down people, snuff the boon if you see it after downing someone, it wastes their time off gens. Hex ruin works wonders for it.
map offerings? Alt f4 or sacrificial ward.
Swfs? They’re aultiristic asf, they probably wont do gens as much, down them.
This game is so, so much more relax if you just chill tf and focus on improving
-
@fulltonon said:
If you think about the fact survivors can deal with anything killers can do, but not other way around, this game is certainly survivor sided.
