  • This isn't a problem with Pig's design. It's the same thing as being facecamped. It sucks when you're the one who takes the heat, but it's actually very unrewarding for the killer because it means that all the rest of the team will probably escape, so she won't be able to rank up.

I know it's disheartening, but it won't happen to you every single game, so try to brush it off and work on improving your skills so you can rank up. I guarantee you won't find a single good Pig using this strategy at higher ranks.

  • I believe the reason they use words is to make the add-ons easier to compare to one another. Everyone knows what the word "moderate" means, so you can get a rough idea of how effective that add-on is just by reading the description, whereas if it said 10% you would have to do the maths to understand how much difference it really makes in the context of the power.

And the reason that particular words aren't associated with specific percentages - for example, "considerably" could mean 20% on one killer's add-on and 15% on another - is because they are relative terms. Meaning that their purpose is to give you an idea of how effective that add-on will be at enhancing its corresponding killer power. 15% might be a "tremendous" amount in some contexts and only a "moderate" amount in others - a 15% movement speed increase, for example, is huge, but a 15% increase in healing speed only makes about two seconds' difference - so in some ways it's more useful to know the relative effectiveness of an add-on instead of just a number.

Having said all that, and while I do think that using relative terms to describe certain add-ons is actually useful, I think it would also be a good idea to include the actual percentages in the descriptions for those who are interested in exact figures.

At this point it doesn't make sense why the system is tied to two different companys, rather than it being applied to Valve themselves.

Most games use Easy Anti-Cheat on Steam, so it's unknown as to why it isn't handled by Valve themselves. But yeah, that's right. I didn't mix them up though, I just keep forgetting that EAC is a Epic Anti-Cheat software since the software, as I said, is used on nearly every Steam game... Ironically the same people who made Fortnite made EAC (or so I've been told).

The reason EAC bans aren't handled by Valve is because it's not their software, so unless Epic want to sell it to them they can't do anything with it. I believe VAC is also used in DBD, though. The devs just decided they wanted to use EAC as well, for some reason, in spite of the fact that the game launched on Steam and EAC is objectively worse in every way 🤷

  • @FireHazard said:

    @Aeichi

It's already been said above but I wanted to add this part below.

BHVR has said before that doing something like that is a "Do at your own risk" action, since it's unlikely that they would ban you for it, but EAC might ban you for it because it was detected as cheating. So in a sense, if EAC bans you than you have to (I believe) contact Valve about the ban, which many have said before is a harder feat to get you unbanned than one might think.

So keep that in-mind when you edit those perk Icons or Character Portraits, doing so is considered a "Do at your own risk" action and is entirely "on you" in a sense when you get banned through EAC.

And to be honest, I consider a EAC ban worse because Valve gave you it, but that's just my opinion and it doesn't really add anything to the end here.

Valve can't help you with EAC. You're thinking of VAC, which is Valve's anticheat system. EAC is a different software made by Epic, so you would have to appeal directly to EAC on their website if you wanted to get an EAC ban lifted.

  • Post-game chat is currently available on the Steam version of the game. As far as I know, there has not been any official word about introducing it to other platforms in the future. That doesn't mean it won't happen, just that we don't know when or even if it will.

  • Some of these perks are great, just severely underrated. I've lost count of how many times Poised has saved my life.

  • Probably blonde. I'm basing that on both her eyebrow colour and the fact that she's Swedish (and Scandinavians tend to be quite fair).

  • Bodyblocking the killer is never considered taking the game hostage, because the killer can always hit the survivors to force them to move. As the commenter above observed, none of what they did in-game is reportable, but abuse and harassment in the post-game chat are. Do make sure it is genuine abuse, though - they won't get punished for saying things like "gg ez".

In-game reports are compulsory for all offences, so you did the right thing by starting there. If you would like to submit additional evidence to help the team process your report, you can do so by creating a support ticket in the "Additional player report information" category. Here is the direct link to do so: https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=191426

You will need the player(s)' Steam IDs, and screenshots of the chat will suffice as evidence. If you're reporting them for something that happened during the match, such as hacks or exploits, you will need to supply video evidence.

In case it's helpful, you can also find a list of all bannable offences, with details of how to report them, in this post here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/19450/game-rules-and-report-system

Leaving a survivor on the ground means ds did its job and it came into play by giving them a chance to be picked up

Picking up a survivor with ds means ds came into play as they will jump off your shoulder.

A single survivor running ds automatically gives the other 3 survivors ds because the killer has no information to determine if they have it or not.

DS comes into play the second a single survivor equips it.

The only way to prevent BT is to magically get 32m away from the hook before the guy hiding in the bush rips them off the hook.

Using BT within 32m of the killer instantly puts it into play even if the killer doesn't chase because they know there is no point.

Waiting out the BT timer still serves its purpose because it is long enough to reach pallets or god window and allows the survivor to stall more time while everyone else holds m1 on gens.

Dead hard, when used correctly for distance to extend chases and reach pallets they they should not be able to get to can't be prevented by the killer.

I am sorry, but even good killers can't prevent second chance perks coming into play.

So if survivor perks like DS and BT do their jobs just by the killer suspecting that they're in play even if they're not and taking precautionary measures to avoid activating them, then surely by the same logic, NOED would be coming into play just by the survivors cleansing totems as a precautionary measure instead of doing generators.

  • @Mystix said:

@FireHazard @Fibijean @Loey I hope you are all well? That is very much appreciated, I am quite liking the new Meta if I am honest with you, I must say I am looking forward too seeing what they will do with the Ranking System :) Who do you think the new Killer will be? I think they should bring a Chucky Doll into the game :) What do you guy's think?

I'm doing alright 😊 I'm also quite looking forward to the MMR system, as polarising a topic as it is. Regarding the new killer, personally I'm hoping that the"Revelations" lore from the last Tome was a hint at the new killer and survivor, partly because I like the idea of both of them and also just because I think it would be really cool if the devs hid clues to future killers in the Tomes.

What? Defend the totems? You do realize the killer has no clue where dull totems are, right?

I mean, NOED is the most second chancey of the perks, and because it's tied to totems it kinda also punishes survivors just gen rushing. (Though they should add a totem counter 100%)

You're actually agreeing with me. The totem defence is not my point - the fact that NOED is indeed a second chance perk, and that's okay, is my point. I only brought up totem defence to rebut the notion that NOED is incomparable to DS due to the killer not being able to try to force it into play, not because I think it's a particularly viable option.

  • @28_stabs said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1059476#Comment_1059476

No killer will defend totems, because 1) killer need to check generators, 2) killer need to chase survivors, 3) killer need to clear map from pallets or survivors stay immortal behind them.. and thats already plenty of reasons to not waste time on totems. In the end game, if you go to NOED totem, survivors just open gates and get out. Yeah, your killer ensured that the totem stayed lit, but survivors escaped. It doesnt work.

DS and BT will come into play, because you unhook survivors in my face right after a survivor went on hook. Even if I ignoreboth of you, you can follow me and block my path, if I want to down someone for 60s.

BT and DS is troll combo.

I didn't say killers should defend totems. You're missing my point. The comment I was replying to claimed that NOED is not a second chance perk because good survivors will usually ensure that it doesn't come into play - just like many good killers do with DS by slugging anyone they've hooked in the last 60 seconds if they happen to down them. If NOED isn't a second chance perk by that logic, then neither is DS.

  • @28_stabs said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1059448#Comment_1059448

DS and BT abusers like to block paths. Killer can have no option but to go through BT or both. Yes, killer can leave DS on the ground, but survivors still make use of it by blocking killer and forcing killer to go through attack cooldowns.

And the killer can ensure NOED comes into play by defending the totems, if it comes to that. I'm not saying it's exactly the same, but the fact is the killer can employ strategies to prevent DS from coming into play if they choose to, which was the logic that the person I was replying to was using as a basis on which to claim that NOED wasn't a second chance perk. If NOED isn't a second chance perk by that logic then DS isn't either (and we all know that's not true).

  • I mean, that's one way of doing it, but I was referring to the fact that those perks have quite specific activation conditions, and good killers tend to expect them and intentionally bypass the activation conditions so they don't come into play.

  • @FireHazard said:

Ah I see. The video still displays this information though, so it's not like the answer was any different in the end.

It's good to have it in text form in a comment though, rather than digging through the video itself to see each percentage boost.

Yeah, and as you said, the person who made the video didn't cite their sources, so the fact that it's on the wiki as well makes the information in the video more reliable.

  • I'm not saying game speed isn't a problem, but in this specific situation, not only was the game not over yet, but what else do you think should happen if you spend 5 minutes chasing one survivor? Are you suggesting each generator should take longer than that to complete?

  • @Cronk said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1059419#Comment_1059419

Wrong good survivors will ensure that never comes into play therefore not a true second chance perk.

That doesn't mean it doesn't give you a second chance when it does. Good killers will ensure that DS and sometimes even BT never come into play as well.

  • @FireHazard The stats are on the wiki, but you need to go into the add-on pages themselves and hover over the "slightly/moderately/considerably" to see them.

    @ocafghanistan Here are the stats:

Order - Class I increases madness inflicted by Static Blast by 10%, and causes Illusionary Pallets to generate every 20 seconds within 32 metres of the Doctor.

Order - Class II increases madness inflicted by Static Blast by 15%, and causes Illusionary Pallets to generate every 20 seconds within 64 metres of the Doctor.

Order - Carter's Notes increases madness inflicted by Static Blast by 25%, and causes Illusionary Pallets to generate every 20 seconds anywhere on the map.

Oh there will always be a round, early ranks, mostly, where you will get that camper or tunneller. Just like you will always get a survivor or two tbagging at the gate. Me, I don't tbag, instead I sit at the gate, and let them kill me out, thats more points for them and I am happy to oblige. Its frustrating, but you won't always have those games. It'll be like finding a needle in a haystack sometimes, but eventually, you'll find yourself playing skilled games, where it is alll about that chase. Just gotta keep working at it <3 I like the suggestions. Unfortunately, camping/tunnelling is a strategy and I don't they will mess with it too much. Same with tbagging, because you can simply chase them out. Personally, I like to moonwalk. "Hun, yall went through gens and I was bad with my chases. Your tbags aint nothing. Watch me moonwalk!" Sure it has to look sooo derpy with Hag or Billy but oh well!! Just keep trying, if you wanna play survivor. Some people do just prefer one side at the end of the day <3

That is completely understandable. I know to some degree, ranks don't matter, but at levels of ranks, you can see a notable difference in skill. Its nice seeing he has a calm attitude and doesn't let ranks drive him up the wall. We all get frustrated, but taking it in stride is good ^,^

Is Leader worth running then because it only gives benefits for short actions? (would be 4 seconds less for a door, right?)

Also, wake up says, that you will open the door faster, does that mean increasing the speed or reducing the time?

Leader is probably the worst of Dwight's teachables. It's maybe worth running if you want to get healed faster, or if you want to combo it with a teammate's Wake Up for really fast gates, but fairly useless beyond that.

As for Wake Up, it's not clear, but according to the wiki it is a speed increase, so it will increase the speed to 115% rather than reducing the time by 15%.

  • @SunaIIanu said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1057478#Comment_1057478

Okay, that makes sense, I'm sorry.

Have to admit, I really thought you would get more than 4 seconds when you stack three bonuses, that's a little disappointing.

Yeah, I know what you mean. A lot of speed bonuses actually do very little for short actions like totem cleansing.

  • @AhoyWolf said:

@Tro You will see it here:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/531/PYBG5N59SSCV.png

It will say if the devs read it, or at least I think it works like that.

Not necessarily. BHVR read is a flag that the devs manually apply to a post, a bit like an upvote. I don't know how they decide when to use it, but they don't necessarily apply it to every post they read.

The only way to know for sure that the devs read your post is if they apply a "BHVR read" to it, or reply themselves, but just because they don't do either of those things doesn't necessarily mean they didn't read it.

  • Not really. Slugging is one of the most boring and uninteractive tactics out there, which is why most people dislike it. But it makes it easier for killers to win.

  • @Todgeweiht said:

Uh, macaco just means monkey, it has nothing to do with the n-word, in fact, the n-word doesnt have an exact translation in spanish.

It isnt a racist slang by any means, he was rude but not racist by any means.

"Monkey" is generally considered a racist term when it's used as an insult against someone with dark skin, particularly someone of African descent.

  • I like thoughtful, self-aware people who don't get tilted easily and can recognise their own mistakes instead of blaming the game or the developers whenever anything goes wrong. Skill is secondary - it's a lot easier to become good at the game than it is to become a kind or intelligent person.

  • Difficult to say, because "best" is somewhat objective. I would probably say Spine Chill for survivor, though Kindred, Hope and We'll Make It are all up there. Resilience is also good if you're someone who doesn't heal very much.

It's harder for killer, because it depends on who you're playing. Whispers is probably the best perk if you know how to use it well, but Sloppy Butcher is also great if you don't. Bitter Murmur and NOED are both strong perks, but unfortunately they also rely on having generators completed to get any value out of them.

Haha we all start with our first survivor before finding one we just stick to. Like for me when I first started, I played Nea. However it was for only a couple matches, when I became aware of SC, so Claudie was my next pick. I'm excited to see who you end up maining! And you are very right. There are so many perks that create so many different playstyles, it can be a lot to have sink in! @animalmak

Oh! That's really smart of him. I know forums or even many other media can have its fair share of toxicity or frustrations and being able to either steer clear or keep a calm head is always a good trait to have. Haha, I don't blame him for not wanting to rely on teammates. Its nice to hear he loves killer! The ruin change had so many people, including me at first, clawing at the dev's doors, but to hear he wasn't phased, in a toxic sense, is good to hear. Hag is honestly so fun when you understand her. Glad to hear that your brother is likely staying!! I was actually wlrried new killers would have a rough time, mostly with the matchmaking rn, but it sounds like he isn't having much issue? Thanks for filling in for him ofc <3 @Fibijean

Hope all of your experiences stay good and positive! Having more people with calm and level headed aptitudes is always a nice pace to add to this, sometimes chaotic, yet passionate, community.

He has as much issue with matchmaking as anyone, but he usually takes it really well. Even though he'd rather play evenly-matched games, he believes that you get better at a game faster by being forced to play against more skilled opponents, so he sees bad matchmaking in retrospect as an opportunity to improve his skills. And finding out that his opponents were much higher ranked than him makes him feel better about the loss.

  • That's what I figured, I hope I didn't step on your toes in doing so.

That's correct yes, 40% of 14 is 5.6 seconds so the totem cleansing would be 8.4 seconds and not 10 seconds.

As I explained, that's actually not correct. Increasing the speed by 40% is not the same as reducing the time taken by 40%. If something takes 14 seconds at 100% speed, it will take 10 seconds at 140% speed (14/1.4).

  • @SunaIIanu said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1055370#Comment_1055370

Are you sure that the system simply summates bonuses instead of applying them after each other?

Also, I'm pretty sure that 40% of 14 seconds are 5,6 seconds, so the totem would be cleansed in 8,4 seconds.

Pretty sure, yeah. And the maths doesn't quite work like that - it increases the speed by 40%, which is not the same as reducing the time taken by 40%.

Yes, she certainly relies a lot more on sensitive controls than most other killers. I suspect part of the reason for her kill rate being so low is also that her skill threshold has been raised significantly, meaning that far fewer people are willing to put in the effort to get good enough at using her to pull that statistic up.

I apologise if you feel that I represented you unfairly. As I explained in my previous comment, I responded the way I did because you made a lot of general statements without drawing any distinction between the survivor in your post and survivors in general when saying things like "Devs why do you insist on making killer unfun for the sake of ingrates who thrive on killer misery?", thereby implying that all survivors are equally guilty of such.

Since you have clarified that you were referring only to a particular group of survivors, I invite you again to defend the assertion that the developers are catering to that particular group by making changes which affect all survivor players.

But last time I told someone that Nurse was the best, albeit the most difficult to master, I was met with a barrage of replies along the lines of "Nurse is the worst killer, they trashed her, I've been a Nurse main for X hours and now I hate playing her, just look at her kill rate" etc. So I'm a little wary of expressing that opinion now!

  • Most people will tell you it's either Spirit, Freddy or Nurse.

Personally, I would say Nurse (particularly on PC) but I've learned that's apparently a very controversial opinion to hold.

  • The devs have asked questions about cross-progression in their last two Player Satisfaction Surveys. It's definitely something that's on their minds, and so it will likely become a feature at some point. However, we have no way of knowing when that will be until they make an official announcement on the subject.

Did I say everyone? No so please learn how to read do not put words in my mouth it may seem like I say that because you trying to cause drama and paint me in a bad light but no in no way did 8 say every survivor.

I show a pic of a message I received and stated these are players that the devs cater to this does not apply to all survivors if you think it does then you must believe it yourself that all survivors are like the one from screen capture so please don't come here causing drama or you'll be ignored that's my one and only time I'm telling you this no drama or you get ignored.

I'm not trying to cause drama. I'm getting that impression from context clues, like "If they aren't enablers then where is my sound?" and "why do you insist on making killer unfun for the sake of ingrates who thrive on killer misery?" You make no distinction between people like the person in your post and other survivors who might benefit from the changes, so the implication therefore is that you're referring to survivors in general when you say that.

I was actually giving you the benefit of the doubt by assuming that's what you meant, because if you're not trying to suggest that all survivors are "ingrates" then you have no grounds on which to argue that the developers are enabling that kind of behaviour by making changes to the game that benefit survivors.

  • Are you seriously suggesting that everyone who plays survivor is toxic and abusive and reports killers for no reason? How can you even make that case with a straight face?

  • The Mori animations are of varying lengths. Most are around 12-13 seconds. The Clown's is one of the longest at 14 seconds, but no longer than those of the Nurse or Plague (Plague's mori, I believe, is the longest of all the killers, at 15 seconds).

Survivor queue times weren't a problem when those challenges were designed, remember. And they aren't necessarily a problem everywhere. Personally, I find survivor queue times to be either longer or shorter than killer queues depending on the time of day.

It's intended for people trying to report other players, but most of what's there should equally apply to bug reports.

As for the details, I'm a PC player, so this is all second-hand information I can't verify myself, but from what I can tell by googling it, you need to double-tap the Share button to start recording, and then when you've finished, go into the Share menu by holding the button down, and press the Square to save the video. Here is a recent article I found which explains how to do it in-depth: https://www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/how-to-record-gameplay-on-a-ps4/

  • I expect because the killer-survivor distribution isn't 50:50, it's 20:80 (or should be), and the devs would prefer to encourage more people to play survivor than killer for the sake of keeping queue times low.
